(yes, its in japanese. The kanji doesn't have furigana at first.. then it gets added... sometimes it vanishes again -- but the reading level requirement isn't beyond a second year japanese language high schooler who has been paying attention :) ).

The manga itself is very cheap.. but shipping costs across the Pacific are high it so ordering a few books at once saves on shipping cost.
It is also highly probable that Kinokinuya will have it (haven't checked yet) or other asian import bookstores.

The style is very much "talking heads" if you're familiar with various comic styles, but the imagery is definitely nice to look at. Lots of nice chapter page art and a smattering of colored comics.

Or you could try to wing it by doing an all-nighter - I hear that also works :)

If you can read enough Japanese to order from Amazon, then Shoboi (http://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/1102/goods) have a convenient page of merchandise links. They also list the broadcast schedule (http://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/1102/time?Ord=StTime).

EDIT: Oh, and although the schedule only shows 13 episodes, the fact that there are 12 DVDs suggests we're looking at 24 episodes or more.

There may be rioting in the streets if someone tries to get away with a 13:12 ratio at $50 per disc :uhoh:

Everything I've read/heard indicates 24 episodes.... the schedules tend to format only for a "season" at a time (12-13 eps) I think.

Okay.....that was quick with the whole doujin thing. :uhoh: Guess even Lucky Star isn't sacred. Are they normally out that quickly? I hereby dub it Lucky Doujin.

If they really want the magic 6:1 ratio it would end up being 2 episodes per disc. So 12 disc with 2 episodes each would break down to a 6:1 ratio.

The figures that come with the books look nice.

On some sites you have to search for Raki Suta and Lucky Star to find everything.

Yesasia has more than just music-related stuffs; I consider it the mini-Amazon of Asian things. I find that it's more expensive, but you can get free shipping. The one thing I really dislike about it is that it's soooo easy to mix up the Japanese and Chinese versions of a manga.

Some fans have the eye-rolling habit of taking perfectly innocent characters and having them do pornographic (usually way off-character) things in fan fiction. Sometimes the characters aren't so innocent. :)
Often amazing is the level of artistic skill some of them have in drawing the characters (unlike some of the Yoko art over in the Lagann thread ... some of the stuff Maids is digging up is just piss-poor drawing skills (anatomical art failures)).

The fast answer: No, you can't. It has 3G roaming, so it has a network selector and stuff, but it's locked for the DoCoMo USIM cards, which makes it unusable by just buying it and putting your own SIM/USIM card in.

But in theory you could use it if you would have a contract with NTT DoCoMo (which would be, like, non-cost-efficient IMHO). And yeah, since DoCoMo phones open up their menu without USIM cards, you could use them as camera / media players if you get one.

Users with just GSM in their country can just forget about it, as it's 3G- only (as Japan only has W-CDMA, PHS, CDMA, CDMA2000 networks - no GSM).

No offence, but didn't I tell that roaming option already?...

"But in theory you could use it if you would have a contract with NTT DoCoMo (which would be, like, non-cost-efficient IMHO)."

And I might add that the SoftBank phones have more GSM roaming (since the company was bought by Vodafone Group when it was still called J-Phone at the time [making it Vodafone K.K. AKA Vodafone Japan], and it was heavily out forward, with 3G and GSM roaming-capable phones and with bringing phones like 902SH, 703SH, 903SH to Europe; Now it's a Japanese company again, with the SoftBank group [LiveDoor関係だったよね?] as its main owner). NTT DoCoMo has 3G roaming at almost all of its new models now and the 905i model range should be bringing full roaming support (more models with GSM, too).

And here I end my rant again...

EDIT: I really, really hope, Risaa, that you won't be offended by my text, I just really try to write extensively...

Just be aware "roaming" usually means you need a wheelbarrow-ful of credit cards to handle the $$$/minute.

Japan is full of the coolest phones and features --- its like the whole country is their test market.... all we get overseas are the conservative product escapees :)

However, it is getting better here. I recently got a Sony Erickson w810i which is a phone ( EDGE, GSMxxxx), MP3/image/video recorder-player (Memory Stick Pro Duo (up to 8GB), TFT screen, uncrippled connectivity (USB, Bluetooth), PDA-stuff (organizer, notes, task, alarms), etc).....

Its only real downside is that it doesn't fold up and the accessory/cable connector is one of those "universal" bulky multi-pin things rather than just a USB port.

Currently, Kagami runs my phone with her theme pack :)

Hmm... My phone is blue, and has a little kangaroo buddy on it. It is a flip-phone with camera and flash, and can record video... Has bluetooth and the PDA stuff Vexx mentioned (at least the alarm and calendar and notes stuff)... I've been downloading L*S pictures to it, so it's very L*S themed... I also downloaded Motteke! Sailor Fuku and am using that as a ringtone (thinking about changing it so that "timotei.. timotei... timoteeei!" plays when I get a text message...) It says it's "Model: MM-8300" and I call it my Roo-Phone. XD

Aah, forgot to mention, it's complete with little bells and Hello Kitty charms I've attached to it... and my Eeyore-dressed-as-Tigger thingie. :D

When I go to Japan... I want a camera flip-phone that is neat and tiny and has a phone buddy and has lots of neat animated images all over it, and will guard my apartment at night, and will unfold into a pen, robot, or scooter depending on what I need, and.. and... *__*

While it's possible for SOME Japanese model phones to operate on GSM networks, most of them will not. Sad.

Japanese 3G phones, such as most Vodafone 3G phones (a few specific models excluded) and DoCoMo's "roaming-ready" models of their FOMA line will roam just fine on GSM... but even so, most phones still won't operate with SIM cards from different operators. Some of the more recent Vodafone models will, though, and oh-how-I-pine-for-them. That's probably what your friend had. :)

Friend of mine just finished visiting Cambodia and was amazed to discover his Cingular-chipped phone worked just fine there, so he texted and photo'ed his way through the country (he avoided voice since it was $4USD/minute for roaming charges).

He had just figured they were on Japanese or Chinese frequency choices so it surprised him.

Just four days upon its release (May 23rd), Motteke! Seifuku has now risen to third in the Oricon singles chart, a bit of scrolling reveals it remains in the top five ever since its release. Such is the collective power of Akiba.

Also, the producers seems to have learned their lesson from Hare Hare Yukai and produced extra more in stockpiles so that it won't be sold out too quickly, thus ensuring it stays on the chart for that little bit longer.

Off topic, but it seems the OP of Hayate no Gotoku seems to be getting quite a high ranking on its opening day as well.

It's actually a pretty interesting concept, although the screenshots look a bit bland at some points... But I just love the Fate series cosplay. Kagami as Tousaka... Never mind me, please... I just had a nosebleed.

For the parts that might be fun if they'd be large (so that various situations wouldn't recycle themselves), I'd mention the hougen check (translate regional Japanese dialects into "usual" Japanese) and the cinema mode (where you try your luck as a voice actor). Speaking of HLJ, I remember once I placed an order for a back-ordered Haruhi t-shirt a year ago IIRC, because I wanted to wear one for a convention. What I don't remember is what became of it. ^^;

I think either they never got a stock again, or that the demand was so high that because my place in the backorder list was so high, they ran out of stock on the backordered stock before they reached my ranking place. In anycase, I don't have a t-shirt from them. I guess it can't hurt to try, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. ^^;

I have had my share of "backordered" nightmare before as well -- coinsidentally, with t-shirts and clothing --and I know better to raise my hope. But I really want these Konata t-shirts, especially the "dress up Konata" one, and it makes me a little happy to know that I have a slight chance through HLJ. I have never ordered from HLJ, so I cannot make a comment about their overall quality, but I am praying that they will somehow miraculously have one for me! But, yeah, I usually hate the word 'backorderd' but I am quite desperate for these shirts. ^^; Thank you so much anyway for trying to watch my back Kain!

Over the last few years, "backordered" usually means they're out and have asked for more but no one has gotten around to laughing at their request yet. www.hlj.com (http://www.hlj.com) is pretty straightforward about that - they won't take orders what they don't have (and pre-orders are based on what the manufacturer allots them). I've seen a few figure-backorders actually open up ... but much more rarely the other products.

Or there's the yesasia (and sometimes amazon) tactic of never actually having the product but getting you to wait for six weeks while everyone else empties their shelves and then lamenting they weren't able to get it, your loss.

At least I know that cdjapan.co.jp will damn near break their necks to make sure they meet their pre-order commitment.
Amazon and yesasia need to review what "just in time" stocking is... it ain't "say we have it and then maybe worry about getting it later".

I think either they never got a stock again, or that the demand was so high that because my place in the backorder list was so high, they ran out of stock on the backordered stock before they reached my ranking place. In anycase, I don't have a t-shirt from them. I guess it can't hurt to try, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. ^^;

I placed an order for some Shana shirts a while back as well, and at first it said May restock so I was like ok cool. But then they changed it to June and now I'm just waiting to see if they are gonna fulfull my order. Kinda sucks waiting for so long like this just for a t-shirt but if I can't get my hands on it, hopefully AX will be the place to find what I'm looking for. Last year I was able to get a Mahoromatic t-shirt from one of the vendors. :D

I didn't find this info in other threads so let me know if this is redundant info...

According to the Lucky Star Hompage (http://www.lucky-ch.com/info/info_box.html), You can pre-order a special Lucky Star "Okiraku Box" (Big Luck?) to be released in 9/26/2007. Two are planned: Konata and Kagami versions.

In these boxes you'll find these items:

☆ Kagami or Konata figurine designed and supervised by Yoshimizu Kagami Sensei. 10cm tall each.

☆ A booklet called "Okiraku Guidebook" featuring Konata or Kagami

☆ An enjoyable CD-ROM with either Konata or Kagami, containing wallpaper, screen-saver and other goodies.

☆ RyouOu Gakuen Student Notebood Style Memopad, Konata or Kagami version

It seemed you can star pre-order with any bookstore (note, NOT hobby shops) starting from 6/16. I checked Amazon and lo and behold, there they be:

Kotana Okiraku Box (http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/switch-language/product/404900786X/ref=dp_change_lang/250-2950017-7940243?ie=UTF8&language=en%5FJP)
Kagami Okiraku Box (http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%89%E3%81%8D%E2%98%86%E3%81%99%E3%81%9F-%E3%81%8A%E3%81%8D%E3%82%89%E3%81%8FBOX-%E6%9F%8A%E3%81%8B%E3%81%8C%E3%81%BF%E7%B7%A8-%E7%BE%8E%E6%B0%B4-%E3%81%8B%E3%81%8C%E3%81%BF/dp/4049007878/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b/250-2950017-7940243)

Now I don't know about you, but I'm definately getting these. Yeah they're really tiny but I like them that way. I know Amazon.jp doesn't ship figures internationally, but these appearantly count as books. So I just did my pre-order. They took it and will ship on 9/28/07.

School, it's the universal excuse for all extravagant purchases. You needed the figures to study... Oh, that's not going to work.

Back on subject, I think the Kagami figurine is adorable. They did a wonderful job capturing her personality. I think the hair color is right, but the lighting was off for the photo.

I'm sure he did, it's almost impossible not to notice. Every product that appears in the show or any cross promotion with a real life product has eventually made it's way into real life. Some people though still seem surprised and intrigued when it happens, which kind of baffles me personally. Think of it like Gundam, any mobile suit eventually gets a model. Sooooooooooo for example if we do eventually find out what Konata was playing, odds are it either get's released, or if it was a real game it will get a sudden rerelease.

Anyway, I'd say the Sousuke one is better overall, more interesting artwork and pose wheras Kyon has this "DUUUURRR!" look on his face and looks a bit off model. Plus Sousuke is a way better character.

Btw does anyone buy comptiq magazines?
Recently I got a package from amazon.jp. I ordered issue #6 and 7.
number seven has a nice phone strap in it. Also comptiq features numerous articles about Lucky Star. #5 had a dedicated cover page and so does #7. More information can be found at my site. I organized a separate page specially for the occasion. douzo.

Yeah, I get Comptiq every month, and obviously they have tons of Lucky Star content, as they're the magazine it runs in. In terms of physical extras, though, I think this is the first Lucky Star-related one that I can recall (at least, in the last year or so). Ah that' pretty good for you. I'd buy all the 3 but it s all about weight. The magazines are heavy and delivery comes to 5-6 thousand yen which is like twice the price of the magazines themselves.
Yes I noticed lucky star manga in comptiq. I was surprised to see the text has furigana there. I thought that furigana is printed only in books for children. Tsubasa chronicles also have furigana though.
So now I have 3 issues of comptiq. I bought one last year and this year I managed to get 2 issues +comptiq special and g's magazine.

I'm pretty sure, for whatever reason, they just do a "per item" charge for me, which means that, so long as I'm buying other stuff anyway, throwing in a magazine or two doesn't make much difference (something like 400 yen extra per item once you go over a few items). A guess it might be worth considering if maybe a place like HLJ (http://www.hlj.com) would work out being cheaper for you (but you do have to pre-order early). I think there are a few other options too, but I've never really looked.

Anyway, I suppose this is veering somewhat off-topic, so might as well leave it at that for now. :p

Risaa

I thought that furigana is printed only in books for children. Tsubasa chronicles also have furigana though.
Well, it depends how young the target audience is. For very young children (still might be considered babies depending who you ask, actually), there would be no kanji, and no katakana, either. This is because children are taught hiragana first.

For young children who are say, around late-elementary school age, early-middle school age, the manga will be printed primarily in kana, but will include simple kanji. I own a few manga series like this, and there is no furigana.

I think for series such as L*S (and Tsubasa) that could appeal to a larger age range instead of such a specific age group, there is a decent amount of kanji plus furigana. The only time there is really heavy usage of kanji and *no* furigana is when it's a disturbing series meant ONLY for mature adults. It's a clever way of censoring the series from children with grabby hands ne. (And it discourages gaijin such as myself who also have grabby hands when it comes to manga.) :)

Vexx
2007-07-02, 15:14
They apply furigana based on the target audience. A high school audience will still have furigana since they're still learning their 1945 kanji.
I have a kanji book that teaches the kanji in the same order that k-12 japanese learn it. There's a pretty strong match between a manga's target audience and which kanji get used and when they have furigana.

And given modern japanese adults having some problems with kanji.... they're probably raising the bar on when they leave furigana out.

thanks for your comments, very appreciated.

And it discourages gaijin such as myself who also have grabby hands when it comes to manga
indeed reading text with no furigana considerably slows down the process. However the difficulty of grammar varies greatly from manga to manga. So i guess first i need to learn the 2 volumes of the textbook i have.
Ok, sorry my talk is going really off topic so i ll stop here.

Isn't the show primarily made up of a male demographic. Unless they plan to buy them for their little sisters and imagine they are Konata or something. :eyespin:

I think I've seen one over $200. I haven't seen sites for real school uniforms, though, just these cosplay sites. I do think they are mainly for cosplayers, who would be largely but not exclusively female. I see that sizes are given as M and 4L, however, so perhaps there's one there for Shiraishi Minoru, too.

When I shop on amazon.co.jp, only International Express shipping is available. A few years ago, they had the cheaper Economy option, but I figure they had problems with lost shipments and now don't offer it anymore.

So the Express shipping is a flat 2700 yen plus 300 yen per item, including the first one. This is like $2.50 shipping per manga or magazine, which isn't too bad, but it adds up quickly.

Some friends and I just bought 30000 yen worth of manga and magazines from there. ^^; I only buy about twice a year, and we split the shipping cost, so that helps.

But what I'm distraught about and am asking here in this forum is: The August issue of Comp Ace sold out less than an hour before I went to my Checkout page with two copies of it in my cart. ;_; So now I ask where else can I get that magazine, as well as Comptiq and Comp H's .. because (as said already) they are full of L*S goodness. I was so close to getting a Kagami phone strap, but it's out of stock now. :(

J-List has the Comp H's with Konata on the cover but not the other magazines, and shipping there is very high as well...

The appearance of furigana usually depends on the magazine it's printed in. NANA has furigana because it was serialized in Cookie, the monthly cousin of Ribbon, both shoujo comic mags aimed at young teens. Yes NANA is more of a mature, josei story but the Japanese really give the benefit of the doubt to their young kids so as long as there's no gratuitous sex and nudity it's okay.

Honey and Clover is serialized in Young YOU, a josei or young lady's mag. Readers are usually OLs so they're expected to know basic kanji, thus no furigana's needed.

But furigana rule is not concrete, for example, in seinen mag Comic Blade there are usually no furigana, since the target audience are male otakus. The only exception being ARIA, which the tankoubans are being sold to young girls as well. ARIA is one of the cross gender/genre series everyone seemed to love, so furigana is added. I must say, ARIA looks incredibly out of place in Comic BLADE.

that would be awesome!

Poll like this is just for fun... everyone know that soon every single character will have their own figurines.

I've just got back from a week in Tokyo. Unsurprisingly, LS is everywhere - not least in the ero-dōjinshi racks (no, I didn't buy any in case you're wondering). Some of the best items aren't for sale though - I kept seeing incredibly cute promo posters in shops that I would have bought in an instant, not to mention the cardboard cutouts of the characters in chibi form.

Besides from picking up the manga at the Omiya branch of Gamers (where Konata shops), I bought the September issue of Comp Ace (http://www.lucky-ch.com/info/info_compace0709.html) for the bundled LS fanbook. It's pretty neat, 100 pages (18 in colour), with everything from character profiles to random manga drawn by different artists (e.g. Tsukasa 4koma in nyoro~n (http://wiki.sos-dan.com/wiki/Churuya-san_Manga) style, and one about the girls commuting home called Someday in the Train).

I also couldn't resist grabbing Natsu no Teiban ("Summer Routine"), a wee Comiket-themed 4koma dōjinshi by Nekoma Kotomitsu (http://park10.wakwak.com/~nekoma/):

http://www.hikari.org.nz/stuff/otaku/lucky_star/natsu_no_teiban_front.jpg http://www.hikari.org.nz/stuff/otaku/lucky_star/natsu_no_teiban_back.jpg

(front / back)

The text on the back reads "The Melancholy of Hīragi Kagami" :)

And if they were doing this properly, each doll would have its own wardrobe of outfits (like in the series :) ).

Here's the figurine photos. How can you NOT GET?

Kona-chan:
http://www.lucky-ch.com/info/img/okirakuBox_kn1.jpg

Kagami-sama:
http://www.lucky-ch.com/info/img/okirakuBox_kg1.jpg

EDIT: According to Amazon, the Kagami-sama box is ranked at #11 and Kona-chan box is ranked at #14. It's pretty AMAZING to see pre-orders ranked so high! And Kagami-sama is beating kona-chan! Tsundere'ko rulez!!!

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have to know. Is there a way to order these from America? I really want them.

well... yeah, you can order figurines from cdjapan.co.jp or www.hlj.com (http://www.hlj.com) or even amazon.co.jp.

But you usually have to pre-order, don't know if any of these are available anymore.

When you're figure shopping, you have to browse sites regularly to pre-order (or get on their mail list) --- pre-orders do have a limited window.
Note: when ordering figurines, expect to have it shipped via registered and for it to cost up to 50% of the figure's cost.

Thus far, the OST is being released in small bits spread out over CDs that are half Lucky Star BGM and half Lucky Channel radio show, which are named, appropriately enough, "Luck Star OST & Radio Bangumi". Two such CDs have been released so far (and *ahem* spread to the masses by Nipponsei).

This is the only part of the merchandizing blitz that's really bothered me. I wonder if I'd mind as much if I could understand more of what's going on in the corresponding LC segments. :heh:

*cross posting from image thread in case someone wants to know*

Neko-Kona and Usa-Kagami are available only by mail order thru Comptiq/CompH, so it'll be very difficult to get to non-japanese people :(

The other two version are available via Chara-Ani (Chara-Ani version (http://www.chara-ani.com/pickup.asp?html=index.html&path=raki_fig) and "Official Homepage" version (http://www.chara-ani.com/pickup.asp?html=index.html&path=raki_official_fig) ), however, they don't seem to take foreign orders :(:(.

You could use a Proxy Service (companies that buy stuff for you in Japan), but I have never used one and can't really tell how much more it'll cost. (Heisei Democracy (http://heiseidemocracy.com/) has a list of Proxy Services in their left sidebar)

Alafista (http://www.alafista.com/2007/09/12/lucky-star-nendoroids/) has a good breakdown on this.

No word yet about a REGULAR release :(:(:(

In other words, bad news to we, the guys living outside Japan.

Good news for people who live in Thailand. Today is the release date of Lucky Star comic. I have just bought it. Now I'm reading it.

The book quality is almost the same as Japanese version but the paper is worse and there aren't any color pages but compare to the price. (about a US.Dollar) It's still good value.

For Nendoroid figures I really want them but I had already ordered the Haruhi PS2 games with Figma figure and I also plan to order Lucky Star PS2 DX pack. (It comes with Konata size student uniform and more..) Maybe I ordered them instead.

You could still get those nendoroids even if you don't live in Japan. There are online services that order for you, but the cost tend to add up a lot. You should expect the price to double from retail if you want to buy them (That's shipping included). Himeyashop is one example that does this service.

I think it would be worth it if you're a huge fan of the characters since I think these are supposedly limited edition ones.

Front section is a series of little character drawings, then some character maps like the ones in the DVD booklets then a B&W section with pages for all the characters with information and sketches etc (including characters that weren't inthe anime or only had cameos). There's other stuff like a glossary and interviews etc.

I got this and it's wonderful. And reading through it as brought my attention to:

The Project Revolution (http://www.pro-r.jp/index.html) Card Game Lucky Star Cards. This game has characters from various anime like Ichimashi, Galaxy Angel, and now Lucky Star. You can buy them in packs, but there are a lot of special cards given away with DVDs and Kadokawa Magazines; they are going to be hard to find.

I just visited that cdjapan site and it says "out of print" even though the release date is 2008/01/31. Does that mean they've already sold out from pre-orders? Is there anywhere else we can get these? I sooo want these...

Cool, thanks! :)

Hmm, didn't realize they were gashapon. Guess it makes sense, considering their height. 5cm is pretty small. Oh well, they're still cute. :)

BTW, anyone ever buy figures from amazon.com? I've bought stuff from amazon.co.jp before. I was just browsing amazon.com last night for Haruhi figures and saw a bunch, but some of the descriptions are really vague, so you can't tell who made them or if they're even manufactured in Japan. Anyway, I might buy a couple just out of curiosity.

Vexx
2007-11-06, 13:28
I don't have any 'figure' experience with amazon.com and I find it suspicious if they don't identify the manufacturer at least. Check to see if they're actually being offered through Amazon's third-party system and then go visit those third parties directly if you're interested in checking out the authenticity I guess.

Not sure if these have been mentioned (recently moved countries so limited internets), but I've noticed a couple of new items for the 2008 Japanese school year:

2008 School Calendar (http://item.rakuten.co.jp/book/4799611/) - 13 A3 pages (presumably covers April 2008 - March/April 2009), out 2008-03-10
School Memorial Box thingy (http://item.rakuten.co.jp/book/4799612/) - seems to be a problem/test workbook (Moe Drill related?) with an LS stationery set (mechanical pencil, eraser, ruler, pencil case), out 2008-04-10

Hopefully someone who's better at reading Japanese can clarify the contents of second one.

Yes, they are different for the FREEing figures. (As I said their part of the nendoroid petite series, Good Smile will make them.) Well they were just announced so I don't think anyone has them for pre-order yet if your looking to import them. I check tons of importing sites everyday and I haven't even found the 2nd set of FREEing figures for pre-order yet. D:

Though if I spot a site I'll let you know. :3

I can barely read Japanese so I used a translator. I could have asked my Japanese friend too but oh well. (I might still ask though.) It sounds like these figures are only going to be at the festival at the Good Smile booth? Or there going to be there first and then release them to store later? Probably most likely just the festival... > . <

Did anyone else get a flyer with DVD #6 for a new LS Fanbook? I don't have a scanner handy, but it claimed to be published by Kadokawa and due out 2007-11-26 (this one is an official guidebook for the anime, so it's not the same as the manga guidebook (http://www.amazon.co.jp/fnord/dp/4048541242) published in August).

What's confused me is that I can't find the new book on Amazon or the official site (although the latter did yield this hueger-than-Xbox 2008 calendar (http://kyotoanimation.shop-pro.jp/?pid=5665043), which is full of pretty pictures (http://www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/data/shop_images/goods/rakisuta/calendar2008_top.html)). click here (http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%89%E3%81%8D%E2%98%86%E3%81%99%E3%81%9F%E3%8 0%8A%E3%82%A4%E3%83%A9%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88%E3%82%B3% E3%83%AC%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3%E3%80 %8B%E3%82%B9%E3%82%AF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AB%E 3%83%AC%E3%83%B3%E3%83%80%E3%83%BC2008/dp/4049002914/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1198171469&sr=8-1)

Oh, and this is also a calendar box thingy, not sure, I'm just using a translator. XD

らき☆すた 陵桜学園入学記念BOX (カレンダー)

It would translate to something like Lucky. Star: Ryōō High school entry (new students) conmemoration/event. BOX (calendar)

Which doesn't says much anything either. A product about the secondary main party?

Are you sure?

The PS2 game most likely won't be in English but you never know... but probably not. If they were it would probably be after most of the Lucky Star DVDs are out in the US or even all of them.

So I got the Japanese version even though I only know a few Kanji here and there and some Kana. XP

Is there a release date for the Lucky Star calendar 2008? It's just that I can't find it at the usual places :heh:If you mean the normal 2008 anime calendar, it's exclusive to Kyoto Animation's online store (http://kyotoanimation.shop-pro.jp/?pid=5665043). I suppose you'd have to go through a proxy service to get it.

The PS2 game most likely won't be in English but you never know... but probably not.Yeah, this game won't ever be translated. There just aren't enough anime fans in North America who would also buy the game to make it worth their while. So the Japanese version is all there'll be.

So to summarise our collective understanding (you will be assimilated), there are two, possibly three different calendars out there:

The A2-size KyoAni calendar (http://kyotoanimation.shop-pro.jp/?pid=5665043) (not available elsewhere), covering Jan-Dec 2008
The A3-size school calendar (http://www.animate-shop.jp/ws/commodity_param/ctc/+/shc/0/cmc/4072646) (released 2008-03-10, available from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.jp/fnord/dp/4049002914)), covering April 2008 - March/April 2009
The "new-entry students' commemorative box" (http://www.animate-shop.jp/ws/commodity_param/ctc/book/shc/0/cmc/4072697) (released 2008-04-10, available from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.jp/fnord/dp/4049007916)), contains a "Lucky Star problem set" and stationery set (mechanical pencil, eraser, ruler and pencil case)

Despite Amazon's listing I'm not convinced the last one is actually a calender - if it is, perhaps the problem set consists of daily revision questions in a desk-calendar sort of format. That would fit with it being targeted at the start of the school year (although as someone on another forum pointed out, it might be socially unwise to start high school with a Lucky Star stationery set on your desk - sort of akin to standing up during class introductions and announcing "I have no interest in ordinary girls - if there are any otaku, miko or walking encyclopedias here, come join me!").

So I got the Japanese version even though I only know a few Kanji here and there and some Kana. XP

Tell people you're importing a game you can barely understand, and they'll look at you like you're crazy. Tell them you're importing "an interactive learning aid" to help improve your Japanese, and they'll admire your dedication :)

I see the game OP single (http://www.animate-shop.jp/ws/commodity_param/ctc/+/shc/0/cmc/4079201) is out 2008-03-05. Title is 「ハマってサボっておーまいがっ!」 - something about going wild and playing truant?

lol! Actually... I did kinda buy it for my Japanese knowledge... since when I imported a Japanese game before it actually helped me a whole lot. Reading is the only problem though... I don't have a problem not understanding it by listening to it. =P

I knew they were going to have a single for that song, I'll have to pre-order it. X3

Anybody bought the Lucky Star Okiraku Box ~ Kagami or Konata? I'm curious about its contents. More specifically the contents of the CD-ROM (what sort of goodies found in the CD). I'm inclined to buy either one or both. The CD-ROM contents will determine if I buy this item(s) or not.

I bought them both. :p
The CD-ROM contains wallpaper, desktop accessories and screensavers.

For some pictures showing the items inside the Okiraku boxes, you can visit my blog posts here:

Quoting my 1st blog post: "The last few images feature the contents in the CD-ROM: wallpaper, screen-saver, desktop accessories containing a calculator, a calendar, puzzle games, a clock display and a timer."

Since there's only a Fighting Game Thread but not a General Game Thread
Here's news from the PS2 Game...
It's been delayed again
http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1213153_1124.html
And will be released at 30 January
... Somehow that it's the same week for Disgaea 3, Suzumiya Haruhi no Todamoi, Tales Of Destiny Remake Director Cut and Devil May Cry 4... well...

Weird.

I got mine from Play-Asia with 2-3 day shipping, should get here on Friday. They wouldn't ship my Japanese PS2 until the game is in stock so I know they have it in stock. It even says they do:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-43-49-en-70-26lx.html < DX Pack

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-43-49-en-70-26lw.html < Regular

But if they shipped them out to companies/stores already why delay it? I don't get it. > . >

It's remind me when Haruhi No Yakusoku was delayed... I had my game shipping one week after... (And with Chrismas, New Year and some Day, it's take more days)
Anyway, it will be good
I'm wondering if the Fighting Game will be a Mini Game that to be triggered during the Game or a Mini Game that can be selected...

Also i had post this at Morning so i hadn't read the contribution of the PS2 Game
I remember that Type Moon had contribute for the Fighting Game and Gainax for something but there's more

なのはStrikerS PROJECT ※画面は開発中のものです。
Nanoha StrikerS Project Team had contribuate too O_O
I dunno for what but that surprised me!
