View Full Version : Maria-sama ga Miteru [Unfortunately SPOILERS Lurk Here]
slow in fansubbing... how bout you fansub this ;)
anyway you guys are gonna get your maria fix soon =p
silly scr. anyway, it's "slower" because we're all busy this season doing other things besides fansubbing 24/7 compared to last season.
another fyi, there will probably be a week delay for ep 4 because a few of the staff will be gone for vacation and will be back in a weekish.
remember, patience is virtue. :hmm:
well technically I fansub 24/7 since I do like 6 projects @_@

You know this has been nagging me for awhile...Does Sei's grande souer have a name?

She's commonly known as SUPER Rosa Gigantea among Japanese fans.
Generally because of that Shining Finger pose she did in episode 11 (ref: G-Gundam)

Sei's grande soeur was known as "Super Rosa Gigantea" before Marimite was animated.
This July 26th, the novel/mook "Maria-sama ga Miteru ~ Premium Book" went on sale. In addition to Hibiki Reine's short-mangas, there is Konno Oyuki's added short story "ANSWER," which deals with how Youko chose Sachiko to her petit soeur. All "Super Rosa Gigantea" fans should were excited as she makes another appearance here - along with "Super Rosa Chinensis" who they both make a strong impact despite they aren't focused in the short story that much.

Interesting. Thank you both.
That's too bad though. I was really hoping she'd have a name so I wouldn't have to keep refering to her as Sei's onee-sama. Though "Super Rosa Gigantea" is an interesting substitute. XD

I just received my Marimite Manga vol 2. The story is about Yoshino-Rei breakup. It is more detailed than the anime version. The event when Yoshino returned her rosario is described in more than three pages.
The art is getting better and there are a few of original arts which can make you smile ( I will post a Quiz on it :) ). For a mere 390 yen, I heartily recommend it to marimite fans.
Sleepless Heart,
Do you happen to know if there are any Chinese publishers (Taiwanese or Hong Kong) picking up the Marimete manga?
I don't really know Japanese - even though Mandarin Chinese is my mother tongue... :heh:

It was to my knowledge that Kinokuniya stores outside of Japan are able to order the books for you from Japan if they do not carry them.
Print this page out, hand it to the cashier, and they'll order it for you:

Kj1980 is right.
You can place an order in Kinokuniya stores, just go to the japanese book counter.
However, it takes more than a few weeks to arrive if you order all the novels, because they need to put a special order to the publisher for earlier series.

Not necessarily - a special order is made to the publisher only if the Kinokuniya store(s) in Japan also do not carry the book in their inventory stock.
I had a friend back in my university years who worked at the Main Shinjuku Kinokuniya store. From her accounts, the process was:
1. An electronic order for Japanese books comes in from Kinokuniya stores in NYC, LA, and other locations in the US
2. Check the order if the ordered book is in inventory at the main store or one of its branches (usually there are - especially for a big-hit novel like "Maria-sama ga Miteru")
3. Ship the order out. This is the part where luck takes place - the order is either goes out via air (if space is available in the boxes for airing weekly magazines), or shipped via vessel. Chances are that since you are ordering in bulk for the entire novels, they'll send it out via surface (sea) mail.
Ordering through Kinokuniya certainly works: 4 weeks ago, I ordered the first novel through Kinokuniya's San Jose, California store. It arrived this week, and I have it in my happy little hands right this very minute. They also had stocked the shelves with copies of the recently released Premium Book.
Kinokuniya adds a markup of around 50% to the cover price of small books like this (US$7.00 for a 457-yen novel, US$8.55 for the 552-yen Premium Book).
Now if I could just get through one page of the novel without 20 trips to the denki jisho....

Speaking of Kinokuniya book store, 2005 calendars reservation has been opened. Last order will be at the end of September. As usual, Ah Megami Sama calendar leads the price record at nearly 50 USD.
My complain is that they don't list Marimite calendar. Is there any info in Japan whether margareth will release a Marimite calendar?

You can probably follow Amazon JP's listing for the latest announcement of 2005 calendars. I don't recall seeing marimite calendar yet but it will come, in time.
Funny how Kinokuniya charges almost twice the price for OMG calendar. It's listed as 2500 yen on Amazon JP....

Sorry, I was wrong.
This is a small portion from their list.
KODANSHA
Ah megami sama (7 sheets, 594mmx420mm) USD 40
Tsubasa & XXX Holic (13 sheets, 400mmx400mm) USD 30
Negima! (7sheets, 728mmx515mm) USD 35
SHUIESA
Ichigo 100% (7Sheets, B3) USD 25
Tenjou-Tenge (7sheets, A3) USD 30
magGARDEN
Mamotte Shugogetten! (32 pages, B6) USD 20
All prices are indicative, depending on the location of the bookstore.
Ordering books from amazon.co.jp is more troublesome than ordering from Kinokuniya or other japanese bookstores. If you know there is a marimite calendar, please let me know, I can tell kinokuniya if it has a product ID.

It's not really more troublesome, it's just that the shipping is much more expensive. But for me, I have to pay a 8.5% tax on top of what Kino is charging so sometimes it's cheaper to go with Amazon JP. Both venues are quite pricey and that's why I bought all marimite and 12 kingdoms novels when Club Japan was having a sale on air shipping. They were charging 5% of the book price for express shipping and that's like 20 yen for one marimite novel. :)
Club Japan may put up a special section for calendar sales later this month and their price is probably much better than Amazon JP (+shipping) and Kinokuniya. I think I paid less than 2500 yen for B2 sized posters (shipping included) last year so I'm waiting for them to put up 2005 calendars so I can order from them again. I'm going to order Marimite calendar too so I'll post here when I see it.

well i had a quick look around and am a bit surprised at not seeing this so i thought i'd post.
The latest novel from the series will be going on sale October the 1st titled 『マリア様がみてる 特別でないただの一日』 "Maria-sama ga Miteru: Tokubetsu denai tada no Ichinichi" (Not Special, just an Ordinary Day)
Although it is rumoured that the long awaited Cutural Festival will finally occur, there are doubts due to the perceived drop in intensiveness of the series, the release of the Premium book and the fact that it's going to retail for 440yen, the same price as Ciao, Sorerra. (Excuse my Italian)
Regardless, it is a new volume of the series and like all Marimite fans I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

Sorry, I am not so clear here.
Are you saying that in this new volume, there is a chance that Konno Oyuki will put a story about Cultural Festival?
Why is this story so anticipated?
Because many things have been leading up to the Culture Day, including:
1. How will this year's presentation go? (Remember - last year, the Yamayurikai did "Cinderella")
2. What role will the student body president from Hanadera do this time? (Last year, the student body president from Hanadera was Kashiwagi Suguru, and he was the prince in "Cinderella." The current Hanadera's student body president is...Fukuzawa Yuuki.)
3. Yoshino made a bet several novels ago with Eriko that she will choose a soeur. The deadline is approaching near.
4. Sachiko selected Yumi as her petit soeur on Culture Day. Perhaps Yumi too will choose between Touko-chan and/or Kanako-chan too?
2. What role will the student body president from Hanadera do this time? (Last year, the student body president from Hanadera was Kashiwagi Suguru, and he was the prince in "Cinderella." The current Hanadera's student body president is...Fukuzawa Yuuki.)
How did Yuuki wind up being Hanadera's student council president? Isn't he Yumi's twin, and thus in 2nd year? Or is this similar to what happened with Shimako being Rosa Gigantea?
3. Yoshino made a bet several novels ago with Eriko that she will choose a soeur. The deadline is approaching near.
I'm looking forward to meeting Yoshino's soeur... wonder if she'll pull a Sachiko and just end up picking one by "accident"... :)

the biggest reason as kj1980 said is so many things have been set up for the storyline to continue: the Cultural Festival, souer decisions for both Yumi and Yoshino...
but the previous 2 volumes (Variety Gift and Ciao Sorella not including the Premium book) have been short stories by nature and the Cutural Festival idea has been there since way back in Manatsu no Ippeeji (One Midsummer page - Vol 13). Although the Hanadera Festival was done and there was some significance in the Athletics Festival since then, it's effectively been a very long time since the crux of the story progressed.
As much as Touko pissed me off when she first arrived, I'd have to say i'm with the general public on this one...she is the one that deserves Yumi's souer spot. She becomes so wonderfully not honest I can understand why Yumi wants to act a bit like Sei around her. :)

Spoilers tags are rare, that's true but I am not wasted because : who the hell is Touko anyway? :) Since I'm only at end of 5th ep, I don't understand most of they are talking about. I don't know if I have to be happy or sad about it. (for the people with bad mood : I am not saying I want subbers to hurry the job, not at all).
touko is the girl with drills as ponytails. coming soon in the anime, i think.
i really appreciate the novel spoilers. especially the ones which fill in all the blanks which the previous anime episodes didn't touch on. and the ones further on in the future, much further than marimite haru at the moment, i mean. so spoilers for far back, and far far in front, i don't mind at all. :)
thank you kj1980. and all the rest of the novel readers who allow us to feed on the scraps which you often provide. :p

I also dont mind people further explaining anime episodes with things in the novels that werent animated, or that were poorly explained. It does make a kind of twisted sense. Are there any more first-year characters, besides Noriko, Touko the 'drill', Kanako the 'denpa', and the really tall girl? Please forgive any incorrect names, I haven't actually seen past the fansubs yet, so I'm getting my impressions from this board. Despite the arguments that would ensue, Touko would be the character that Yoshino would identify with best, I think. It would be annoying if they introduced some random new character just to fill the spot.
Also, the legacy of the Rosa Foetida line is to make really odd choices. :p

And yes, there are more first year students...such as Shouko, who is rumored that she might become the soeur of Tsutako-san. Others include the the first year students with no name who look at Yumi-sama with admiration.

LOL @ "Dinosaur Sounds"
Now now, let's not be so harsh on poor Yumi all the time! :) She might not exactly be traditional Yamayurikai material, but I honestly think that she has plenty of good qualities worthy of admiration by her underclassmen.
Unfortunately, Mintyfresh is probably correct in the fact that most of the fans worship the title itself more than Yumi...

Shouko and Tsutako will no doubt get their story...seeing that Mami got hers
well the 'normalness' of Yumi is how she's getting admirers from 1st year. She's the most approchable...altho when you see a 1st year being nervous in front of Yumi, you start to reflect on the changing times :)

Sorry, my bad. Still, this limits the field of choices even more. If Shouko and Noriko are already 'taken', that only leaves 2 candidates for the 2 en boutons to choose from. Unless the writer throws in a ringer from out of nowhere, safe money has it that whoever Yumi doesn't pick winds up as Yoshino's soeur.

I am not up to speed on the latest happenings in the novels, so I wonder what Kanako has to do with a yamayurikai play. Does she just hang around with them like Touko seems to do lately, in the anime series, or is she just so obsessed with Yumi that she follows her around to yamayurikai events?

I was not familiar with the story so I looked up on google and after reading some synopsis, I became very interested in how this plays out. :) I guess Sachiko got the idea from the time they helped Hanadera's culture festival?
I wonder if both Touko and Kanako will have a role in the play? Or Yumi will finally make a decision?
You're kidding me??? They are really gonna do Torikaebaya of all the possible classical japanese plays? XD Oh well, it somehow seems fitting with Marimite anyway...
Indeed poor Yuuki...
Well well... So, who is gonna play the role of Yumi's wife? XD
*prays for this to be animated*
Random thought: If Yuuki is Yumi's little brother (twin?), how did he become Hanedara's student coucil president? He is in second year too aint he?

I would be pretty disappointed if the next play got as much screen time as Cinderella. Although I would be pretty happy if the series were still being animated by that point.

Indeed he is Yumi's twin brother (another reason why Torikaebaya is sorta fitting.. ^^; ), and if I remember from episode 3 in the first season, Yumi was quite surprised tha Suguru was a third year and student council president at the same time, as he should also be very busy with college entrance exams. This leads me to believe that at Hanedara, 2nd years are usually the student council pres's. The only difference with Lillian is that the Yamayurikai has their souers to take over the work during exam time.
And of course, i also hope that the anime gets this far. I mean, come on, it's Marimite! 52 episodes at LEAST! :D

Because he is neither the sport-type (taiiku-kei) nor the arts & science type (bun-kei), they chose him to be the student council president for neutrality. However, he even admits himself that "I am just a regent." He was more surprised on how much "power" Yumi has at her student council.

And the fact that the previous president Kashiwagi Suguru nominated Yuuki as he's successor.
I'm glad to see Tokubetsu denai Tadano Ichinichi is actually about the play. Seems like Kanako will get much novel time. Interesting to see if she turns all her haters to lovers just like Touko. :D
/me whacks the previous posters with spoiler tags
We appreciate the effort you are making to bring us the latest Marimite news but some of us dont want to be further spoiled :)
um.. most ppl here want to be spoiled since we can't read japanese and dont have access to neither the novels nor the manga, I advise you to start a spoiler free thread if this disturbs you greatly.
Well this thread was originally created with the intention of following the anime progression, and later on when specific threads where created it became a place for discussing the plot... with the anime as a basis... I dont mind people trying to further enlighthen us with events that will happen further on, but I think there should be some respect to those that just want to discuss their impressions of the series so far
So again, please create a spoiler free thread if this aggrivates you. It is not meant as disrespect towards anyone that we discuss those matters, it only happened that most ppl who frequent this thread do not mind to be spoiled, and sadly, I think the possibility of us moving is rather slim.
Perhaps one of the administrators or moderators could edit the title of the thread to indicate that there are spoilers in this thread.
It would help the other peeps in the forum .... those that do not enjoy looking at spoilers...
I was reading a synopsis of the play that Yumi and Yuki would be in and well, I was wondering who will be playing Yumi's 'good friend (male)' in it... Heh.

I haven't followed marimite development in the past few weeks.
Are there any new novel/manga releases?
Is there a trading card series for Marimite ~ Haru?
Last week, I tried to search for marimite 2005 calendar, it seems that there isn't one yet.

Well, I heard that there's new novel coming out on the 25th of December.
Hopefully, just my mere hopes mixed in with a little imagination, that it'll contain a bit of Sei... since it is released on her birthday, after all. :heh:

Soooo...
Will it be the one in which Yumi choose her petite soeur ? *cross fingers*
(thanks for the Sei trivia bit :heh: had already forgotten about that - eh, that episode was months ago...)

I hope the new novel that's coming out wraps up the whole Yumi's soeur decision thingy... but I'm kind of doubting it... :/
From what I've heard, Konno's been writing a whole lotta side stories.. so...
The December Cobalt magazine had a Shizuka story!! (Rosa Canina)

You got me all excited thinking that there was going to be a third season before I realized that you were advising us of the release of a new novel.
* NoSanninWa sighs
Good news I suppose, but not for me...

Dream sequence? Or reality? :D
With the whole forum fallback thing, I guess this would be a good time to actually post instead of simply reading other people's posts :).

(mumbles) Like people from here like to state, "What comes around goes around". After the rejection, Yumi may not have Sachiko's persistency. It's about time to end Rosa Chenesis line. Overall, Lillian's elite system is facing crisis.
