I'm really not sure if I should bring up the Caro-Erio possible deep interaction again so I would just like to ask the you guys on how you think the rookies are gonna initially handle the actual with-tentacle-wire-drones this time around. I don't know about everyone else but setting out for mission one right after just receiving customized devices makes me uncomfortable. Perhaps there would indeed be a problem with working with getting used the sudden power boost of the Forward Stars' new devices. In any case, I can't wait to see Cross Mirage and Mach Caliber talk.

Okay, and maybe it would be safe for me to bring up the Caro-Erio possible interaction thing now. I'm just making a guess but I think we'll see the 'person caressing Caro's face' before the actual mission. I'm betting that those hands belong to one of the three rookies.

I fully agree. The only concern I have is that the battle would not have any meaning to the plot--that is, it would just be used so that the newbies could get some battle experience. I sure hope it is the beginning of something bigger. A costly mistake. A TSAB high-ups conspiracy. Even Nanoha's health issues! (Ok, scratch that last one)

Well, if there are any health issues Nanoha has, it'll come out sooner or later, since it may well take up three or four episodes:

1. Nanoha strains herself and collapses.
2. An entire episode dedicated to explaining why Nanoha has health issues.
3. An entire episode showing everyone's reactions to this.
4. An entire episode dedicated to having Nanoha overcome the problem.

If the first point happens in episode five, that's all the way until episode eight taken care of; almost a third of the way through the series already!

Otherwise, I'm guessing that this battle is either going to be the Newbies' first successful mission (perhaps after a dramatic turnabout) or their first defeat (possibly with Deus Ex Machina provided by the Original Team), providing for more screen time where the Newbies angst and train harder for the next time. Heck, this could even carry a moral about the importance of Teamwork and Friendship or something.

Yes, I know I sound kind of cynical with all these shounen anime cliches, but I'm really not. I thrive on familiarity, and I'd be perfectly happy with any of the above outcomes. Of course, if the series decides to surprise us, I hope it'll be done well.

While it will be nice for the new stars to be handed to a loss against Drone I think it is petty unlikely, Since they needs to lose to a loli (ie Fate, Vita):heh:. So unless Lutecia appears I would say they would have their first successful mission.

While I agree that Nanoha's battle footage has always had a good track record so far...There are signs that its begun to fray. We now have the first sign of stock battle footage in ep4.(not including transformations)

And look what happened the last time when reused footage crept into a series.

But I'll keep faith. Since even that aforementioned example got some good battle scenes out when budget had been saved (by recaps or reused footage) beforehand.

Rarely though.

Lutecia/Fate are definitely out. The background scene is in Storm Raider, so no way it's Fate (I'm just saying...). The uniform of the hands are different from Lutecia's outfit, so she's out.

Personally, it doesn't feel like it's in Subaru/Teana/Erio's personality to do that, but I've been surprised before.

(Actually, after watching the preview again for the 20th time, I'm starting to sway my vote to Erio rather than Nanoha...)

On the subject of the episode... The preview smells like a Erio/Carol episode, so that should be entertaining enough.

High-speed action in enclosed spaces are always welcomed :)

Now, if the Church's information is to be believed, the Relic is onboard that train. So a number of things could happen.

1. TSAB finally have in possession the Relic.
2. The drones got away.
3. It somehow vanish.

I'm betting on the 3rd (Or that Carim got it wrong...).

Btw, Nanoha's fine... In more ways than one.

and the chances of it happening so early is not high at all ~ if it were to even happen id say its somewhere when the gang is already deep amongst the action and story ~ and ill say it will take up 3 eps max otherwise it would be too boring for the viewers to sit through all the explination and bla bla ~ just intergrate point 2 and 3 together :3

and my bets? thats a hard one >.< but i think a higher chance would be indeed nanoha ~ she is someone who caro will look up to after all ~

The most likelyhood the hand belongs to Nanoha, since she is that kind of person, but knowing Ero-Boy Erio he will jump at every chance as touching cute adorable Caro....

Since its ep 5 already I wonder what cards the producers will play now. since from here on the next few ep can go ep to ep mission based, with Lutecia tie ins for the first arc of sorts, or just continously building up the story.

Subaru likes action yes, but it doesn't feel like her character to comfort someone in that manner...

She'll be... More 'buddy'-like.

Yeah stormraider should be able to go auto pilot, it has AI afterall (assuming)...

Don't know about the design though, but most transport chopper usually has a door that connect the 'cabin'(i also have no idea what is it called :heh:) and the cockpit

hmm...that does sound true, but i can't help seeing Subaru, being the one who likes combat so much, comforting Caro before battle...it seems more logical that way, to me atleast.
Nanoha could be doing the comforting to Caro, but i think she wouldn't be on board Vice's helicopter (forgot it's name...sorry :heh:) since this is the first real test for the rookies...but she is the combat instructor, so i could be wrong.
could be Elio's hands, but thats moving even more fast for our little 10year old boy who has gained Caro's attention from just one episode!
Teana could also be a possibility, since it was Caro who gave her a power boost in episode 3 and was also paired up with Teana during that test.
But i just can't help that its Subaru's hands comforting Caro.
oh wells, we'll find out when the RAWS or subs are out for episode 5...

Judging by the looks of the Green Box (I think that's what the technicians might call Storm Raider), its rather akin to the Seahawk, except way bigger, about the size of a Chinook, and a major difference from both muggle choppers being that it has 2 rotors stacked atop of one another and spinning in opposite directions. From Hayate and Fate's flight, we see that it has a cockpit with 2 pilot seats and 2 commander seats aft and above the pilots' level. There was no door separating the compartments.

That might translate to the cargo bay/fuselage/cabin/carriage compartment to have an upward sloping entry into the cockpit. That might have a door, but knowing military craft it shouldn't.

The problem is HOW she does it. Being rather boyish (When she's not around Nanoha :)) I don't think she'll take that particular approach in comforting Carol... I figure she would just give her a pat on the back or something.

well if the odds are raised i guess the winning reward must be greater...and despite of having tomboyish qualities i can see that subaru has a feminine side which she will use at a time like this ;)

other than knowing the truth from this ep i seriously hope fate chan will do some ass kicking =.=

In any case, even though Erio would be the ideal 'gold mine' choice for those hands holding Caro's face, I wouldn't mind Teana going a little dere-dere and comforting Chibiko.

So, I say Fate. Yes, I know how ridiculous that choice is, but when it comes to playful decision-making, I have always entrusted myself to my Nighter-senses, and while it fails me a lot, I have come to rely on it.

Besides, previews has always been semi-misleading. For all we know, it could very well be post-mission. And we know Fate's rushing to the scene... :P

Then again, darco_emp is betting against every single odds in existence...I can't match that.

Subaru doing any such thing is petty unlikely given her tomboyish nature, a slap on the back sure do not in such way that came up in the preview.

Currently Nanoha prehaps have the best chance, give her gentle nature, with that said Erio is less likly then Tia due to the fact he is a male after all.

With this said less then 5 hours to go til Ep5 airs, if no baseball :heh:

Then again, darco_emp is betting against every single odds in existence...I can't match that.

With the post mission possibilty I suppose that might work too, if Caro was feeling like she wasnt doing very well in that mission. Being the most support caster often means the group has to get her out of trouble, if she somehow got into one, akin to a WoW warrior taunting a mob off the priest.

In Nanoha, I don't recall seeing any 'damsels' :)

Closest was Shamal when Chrono had her at point-blank.

The Aces seem to be good candidates for this. And for the saviors, we still have a few powerful enough males like Chrono, Graham and heck, even Yuuno could do a good save. I'm not too sure about how the other fans would feel about this kind of scenario, though.

Alright, as one of few that can understand Jp here, I dared for my oppotunity to watch RAW.
First thing first, the result of the bet:It was, for my disappointment, Nanoha.Now moving onto my notes for Ep5...TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE!!
FOR EVERY ONE OF RIOT FORCE 6!!1

Ahaha...well, sorry for caps, but it was seriously unexpected that they go that far :heh:
Even funnier is that only Erio's was such short and hurried... not that I wanted to watch him go streak, though. (or I did just for a laugh.)

Now to more in-depth stuffs...

Apparently a mage needs permission from superior to fly inside city on one's own, that's why we didn't see many mages flying in the sky in daily scenes...
However, as Grifith gave permission rather lightly, it's not as heavy restriction as limiter thing I suppose.

We've finally got to see Aces go against actual enemy, and despite their power-output has been nerfed to AA-rank, they ROCKED. HARD.
But I didn't see these Type-2s using AMF... I wonder if it's just that they traded it for maneuverity in air or Aces were too uber that they didn't have time to use it.

Wow, Teana's now using VS singlehandedly and only with a second or so of charge...
I.D has always been powerful through series, but I think we've never seen how apparent it is until now.
Then Teana goes "Maybe I shouldn't rely on you much for my own good"... Tsun-mode ON! :D

Alright, good news for all member of Legion; Erio got some good beating for his indecent behavour in Ep2 :heh:
Hmm... Caro's really into Erio by now, but I feel it was rather sudden considering we haven't seen much between them except some short scenes in Ep2 and Ep4...
Maybe it's just that these are done out of screen, but I personally wanted to see development of relation on-screen... what's your thought?

And to everyone's suprise, the first person that appeared among these to-be-villain trio was Scaglietti.
Apparently he's not only after for Relic, but also interested in forward personnel of RF6 too...
Then he says one hell of line for these who supports Fate and Erio;
"These kids (Erio and Fate are on screen)... there're chances for me to capture these living remnants of Project F, too..."
...I guess I don't need to say anything here.Overall, it was a very active episode and visual was once again great.

These 6 transformation sequences were long, really, but I didn't mind it for it was the first time in the series.
As they did not repeat the sequence for more than once in A's, I'm sure they're wise enough not to overly repeat it in StS too.Apparently it's once again training days, but Nanoha seems to intend that she'll go harder on them now that they've went through their first real mission.

Oh, and finally Vita's going in to beat the crap out of newbies!
I'm looking forward to see what kind of bad-mouthes she's got for them...

Well, I actually made an off-hand joke remark some time ago on how it'd be cool if Elio was a experimental lab rat whom Fate thought is an orphan, poking fun at his character design which looks a lot like Jr from Xenosaga. There's even a pink haired loli alongside.

It's only after that I found out Elio IS rescued from some laboratory. :heh:

It's half the reason I'm hoping an Albedo homage appears as well.

The Project F thing is giving me SERIOUS Weapon *numbers* vibes ala Weapon X/Wolverine.

I won't be surprised if the villians we'll be seeing in StrikerS are the survivors or successful experimental projects of Project *alphabet*

With Elio and Fate both having lightning affinities, Project F sounds like a project to create a thunder-based human weapon.

OK, enough!!!! I'm dying to see this episode. Finally the newbies get into a real battle huh? Hopefully they'll show us some kick-ass moves :D . OO Friederich is ENOURMOUS!!!! WTF? The little trickster was in disguise all the time. And by the ep 6 preview, the rookies are gonna get a taste of Vita's Eisen (Poor kids :heh: :heh:). This is getting more and more interesting. I can hardly wait.

i thought that elio was just an orphan who was found someway or another so hints about this true connection between him and fate is disturbing...its like they are destined to meet (and i hate destiny stuff >.<) ~ and well if some wacked up scientist or whatever thinks that he can use fate for something think again...put to the test fate will destroy anyone who gets in the way :p

Finished watching the XLLQ raw( the audio was off all over the place btw, this is the from myoism)

-1st thing i want to say , "GENDER DISCRIMINATION"!!!! Erio's transformation scene compared to others is like nothing ..Way Shorter,not as flashy plus why only his clothes doesn't blew up :p

-Fate/Nanoha VS flying drones = Macross battles/Mechas anime such as gundam (eg:axel shooter replacing missiles here)

-Double Flier Fin ( did she has this in A's? i don't remember)

-Mech Caliber X Subaru conversation is more interesting than Teana X Cross mirage....MC's voice turn out to be female(was expecting male),really sound similar to those briefing voice either in Starcraft/Red alert games

-Friedrich ignition form Blaze Fire similar to Neo Bahamut Giga flare

-Erio X Caro is pretty much hinted/showed all over the show ...it is 99% sure they will end up together

-Turn out the role kinda flipped, Erio(damsel in distress :heh: ) saved by Caro :twitch:

Judging by the looks of the Green Box (I think that's what the technicians might call Storm Raider), its rather akin to the Seahawk, except way bigger, about the size of a Chinook, and a major difference from both muggle choppers being that it has 2 rotors stacked atop of one another and spinning in opposite directions. From Hayate and Fate's flight, we see that it has a cockpit with 2 pilot seats and 2 commander seats aft and above the pilots' level. There was no door separating the compartments.

That might translate to the cargo bay/fuselage/cabin/carriage compartment to have an upward sloping entry into the cockpit. That might have a door, but knowing military craft it shouldn't.

I hope this has helped. :P

That rotor configuration is used in real life. I know the Ka-50 uses it and I'm sure it appears elsewhere.

It seems that Caro was kicked out of her tribe for being too powerful or something. I think they felt that her power will only cause harm. The TSAB didn't seem to want her, but Fate took her in anyways.

I'm getting the feeling that Caro is immensly powerful, but is uncomfortable with it.

Caro & Erio's teamwork is just plain cool.

Thought the mad scientist was just talking about Erio when talking about Project F, but I guess it could include Fate too.

Mach Calibur is neat, both as a device and as a character. Auto-casting Wing Road… I can see how Mach Calibur can compensate for Subaru's weaknesses. Same with Teana with her Cross Mirage.

The characters are noticably more powerful than they were in the previous episode.

About the gender discrimination thing: Elio's transformation sequence is quite good as it is. Girls don't like that kind of 'fanservice', if you know what I mean :heh: . And I agree on the TS taking too long, hopefully they'll only use it in this episode.

Elio's henshin was okay. Sure, it didn't have the same "flair" as the rest, but at least he wasn't discriminated. Let's face it, did anyone here or even the shota-fujoshis even expect Elio to get a l33t-ly produced lengthy henshin sequence? Heck, I'm surprised Subaru's was that lengthy, though hers was clearly awesome with the Build Up! + reverse!Final Fusion henshin patterns. At least he got the coolest post-henshin eye-catch, with strong pose and eye emphasis.

Of course, it could've been cooler, like having an assembled Strada's exhaust release out a burst of flame, shrouding Elio in flames, only for the flame to subside and become the Barrier Jacket, or it could always pull a Hyunkel/Larhart weapon-armour enshroud but that's petty complaints over something that wasn't bad to begin with.

The whole transformation scene thing is MUCH better when it's not disturbing-loli-mode, in my opinion. I definitely felt catered to with the close-ups of the chest and waist area. I find that it's TOO much zooming in and it mildly made me feel dirty. :)

I watched this show for the more personal aspect of fighting, where each move is named and acted out. Not random moving lights all over the place. I'd watch the Gundam shows if I wanted it. Leave Gundams out of it and keep the Original and A's fighting style!

Well we finally got some good action from the group on their first mission. Sad when I'm relying on the devices to tell me what's going on out there :). Yeah, won the bet on Caro. Would've been fun if it was Erio, but apparently something even better in that area came from this episode.

Subaru's device works pretty well, figured out what she needed right away. These devices should make them all even better as they grow as mages. Caro and Erio sure picked the tough opponent to start themselves with. Things were looking pretty bad for a while. Though Erio put up a good fight even when he was getting overwhelmed there.

Who knew Caro had such a tough past. Glad to see she could pull out something impressive when things get difficult. They really are throwing Erio x Caro out there. While Erio had to play damsell in distress for a while, he came up big and really tore that drone up.

Next week should be really fun. Everyone seems to be getting personalized training. Subaru vs Vita (oh poor Subaru, she's a dead girl). Erio x Caro vs. Fate, and Teana vs Nanoha (that should be fun...).

Doubt they'll have massive transformation scenes too often. Since we have a lot of characters and it'd take a while to get through them all. Good transformation scenes and a fun episode.

I think Erio's was done tastefully, as much as it could've been more in line with the girls. However, I'm sure his eyecatch (all the eyecatches possibly) would make great wallpapers.

Indeed, the stacked opposing rotor design is often used in industrial heavy lifters, however the agility of such craft pales in comparison with single or double separate rotor designs. Which makes Storm Raider rather special.

as expected i fainted at the fate chan transformation sequence :eyespin: a whole ep devoted to fighting the drones of which about 7 minutes was used for the transformations! :3
the aim was to show what the new devices can do...apart for me funky engrish they are all really cool ~ i loled when i saw subaru materialize her "nanoha" type jacket and the going "sugoi!" :O shes going to be up all night admiring it :heh:

and erio gets what he deserves XD though i have to admit he makes a good combo with caro (who is overflowing with magic potential O.o) ~ the duo enchantments provided by caro was awesome!

and in the end we have the mastermind...well deserved 10/10 for this ep :D

There's no need to say this, but the Henshin sequences clearly surpassed and left my expectations in the dust.
Well, I guess I should give my comment on each. (At the order in which I watched them)

Subaru: Her Henshin sequence was the most engaging both in the actual transformation and the BGM. It was cool and not unlike the Final Fusion scene from GaoGaiGar. Though the gemstone appearing from Mach Caliber looked a little TOO familiar.:heh:

Teana: At first I started blushing at her initial scenes of her Henshin sequence:heh: . After that, though, I think her transformation scene and BGM is very suitable for her style. To put it simply, her sequence was Smart and Stylish in contrast with Subaru's.;)

Erio: Short but cool. I gotta hand it to the kid, he takes a lot from his adoptive siblings' level of coolness. But I'm not too sure about other people's reactions..:heh:

Caro: Cute. No other way to describe it. :heh: The music fitted perfectly with the little-girl-mage image. She would fit really quite well in a non-violent Mahou Shoujo anime.

OMG Fate is hot. Actually seeing the transformation sequence in action is an experience indeed.

On the other hand, Fate's sound effect for taking off sounds like a fighter jet. Too bad there is no sonic boom for her breaking the sound barrier. XD

So does Accel Fin. But I suppose the "sound barrier" got masked by the shattering of the "transformation (modesty) bubble" both commanders came out of.

Notice the bubble I mentioned. The fast henshin is only of a cloud surrounding the mage's body from the neck down. Ever wondered if there was stat differences btw fast henshin and and full henshin, which results from that giant bubble?

I just watched Ep 5 raw. And I lost count of how many times I watched Fate's transformation sequence. The animation for this episode is good, easily the best out of the 1st five episodes. And with good reason, since Fate and Nanoha were happily kicking robot butt with glee.

I am still amazed at the amount of destruction that the two captains can do, even when they are limited in their power. I mean, Fate and Nanoha practically cleared the skies for the newbies, giving them a secure "landing zone". I also noticed that they have grown powerful enough to use their attacks with a minimum of incantations and preparation. Their full power mode should be interesting to behold.

Also, what intrigues me is that there may be more forms of barrier jacket that they haven't shown us. Fate in her old barrier jacket would be so hot that it would totally blow the screen off my moniter, for example.

Fate's black pantsu for the win. Her poses during the sequence just oozes class and beauty. Subaru and Tia's henshin sequences were well made too, though I am curious why Subaru had the privilege of having the biggest bounce among all the henshin sequences. Tia's sequence was cool, enough to make me wonder if she would fit better with the Lightning Squad, along with Fate.

Ok, after looking through the Uber-LQ raw that made my eyes hurt, and the LQ which I stayed and watched the transform scene, I need a Fate to take home with :heh:

It is expected for the production team to finally give us a transform scene, its "Mahou Shojo Gundam" after all. Still I gotta stay I don't mind adult Fate at all. out of all the Aces we have yet to see Hayate then again I'm guessing we will not see that at Mid boss at least. (and loled at Skane's "Gattai" sequence).

Looks to me to be centred on Caro, but all New Star did get fair bit of action as well as the Aces, If Nanoha and Fate can take on all the Drones in under 2 sec with limiter on then with limiter off does make me wonder.... and men isn't mech caliber talkactive and while Teana's Cross Mirage give me the feeling of Bardiche, which can only mean more win....

The Erio-Caro moments require more bashing from me :heh:, Get your hands off Caro you Baka Shota. and good job Drone for beating Erio up, to bad you did not finish it but at least there is next time. Also is it me for Freid's attack looks more and more like magaflare.....

The ep ends with the introduction of the villian of the round, as a friend I know suggested look like he will not become Nanoha's friend :heh:. still Lutecia is still fair game...

On to preview Training with Vita... I'll say no more regarding this other then say I'm very worried.....

You know, I can't help but feel a sense of happiness for Erio and Carol. Yeah, I wished for nothing more than wrapping my hands around Erio's neck after watching the 2nd episode, but this episode has somewhat changed my opinion of him. The kid is willing to fight a strong(er) enemy for his friend, and fearlessly charged in even though he knew he was at a disadvantage. After being powered up by Carolo, he went in and finished the job in a hot-blooded manner similar to his mother's. Fate had taught him well.

At this rate, Erio might be well be worthy of the cute loli that is Carol.

Though whispering in Caro's hear would probably look suspicious. Though following the preview he'd be in tough. Taking on Vita for Subaru, Nanoha for Teana, and losing Caro when he fights Fate....well I liked the kid hope he can rest in peace.

My bet on Nanoha, to be experimented on with the data that mad Dr. collected.Something like this might happen, Nanoha went over her limit and relapse (the injuries) in a battle then either got captured or kidnapped on the way to facility to be treated.

You know how 1/2 dead characters in anime usually/always easier to be experimented/controlled :heh:

Since the beginning of this season, I've been wondering how the hell they were going to do the new transformation sequences, and in particular Erio's. The first thing that popped into my head after watching the transformation sequences was "What? No Erio nudity? Wusses!"

Seriously, the poor sap looks out of place enough, now he's even more isolated. All because the animators could't handle the thought of a nude boy.

Episode was good. Nothing special aside from the Project F revelation, but good.

Is it strange that I cared for the transformation music 100 times more than the sequence itself? Though I've got to admit, Subaru's henshin was pretty nicely choreographed and storyboarded...considering she stole them from mecha shows. :rolleyes:

I love the new A.Is and their interaction. Especially Subaru's and Teana's. They sound Engrish-ly amusing enough, and it looks like the start of a nice chemistry. Though I have a feeling Teana's relationship with C-M will eventually go downhill...

Strada is cool, but the A.I, aside from the nice "Expro-c-sion" voice, isn't anything special yet. Same goes for Kakurikon.(sp x)

Elio-Caro was nice. Nice touch there with the Sailor Moon-ish floating sphere with the pair of love birds inside hugging....Well, Sailor Moon was a kiss, but they LOOK underage so that's good enough.

Caro's flashback = proof that we need more MIDCHILDAN TRIBAL BACKGROUND. Yes, Yuuno, I'm looking at your shady family of artifact/Lost Logia diggers, and Caro too.

EVIL BAD GUY SHADY ORGANIZATION EVIL SECRET EXPERIMENTS YUS YES YAS.

Giving Fate more background revelation => DADDY TESTAROSSA DEBUT. I won't accept anything less.

Elio's from Project F as well...Well, for all the other-guy-related-stuff StrikerS is not living up to my wishes for, they seem to be slowly inclining towards Elio possibly being more special than he currently is. Adult-form plz. :P

Elio not having such a "revealing" transformation actually works better than if he did go all strip naked. Besides, his few seconds of transformation was just as awesome as the others (not ot mention the bgm in his scene was incredibly impeccable).

After seeing the LQ raw, thoughts:

- Despite me not understanding anything about that bit with Caro and the Elders, strangely enough it was an unusually upsetting scene... of course, Nanoha's killer smile more than made up for that :D

- Midchilda sure doesn't have much of a problem with parking space do they :heh:

- No words need to be said about Fate and Nanoha's henshin :D :D

- Nanoha and Fate wiping the floor with those UAV's was a most welcome scene, especially with the Itano circus Nanoha displayed, and Fate shows why she's boss with her Haken Saber.

- FINALLY, Rein in her original outfit XD

- As already mentioned, Subaru's Final Fusion/Build Up transformation owns!

- Subaru's awesomeness from episode 1 comes back in full force here, and some new moves from Mach Calibur (I think I may have heard Sonic Breaker or something like that...). MC sure is talkative though.

- So Variable Barrel Shoot takes less energy than Variable Shoot... and Cross Mirage being able to switch to single hand mode is a cool feature.

- Elio Mondial was somewhat foolhardy trying to take on that autosphere by himself...

- More Caro flashback, and how Fate got to know her. Fate and Caro in the snow was quite touching to say the least...

- And so was the Caro/Elio scene a few seconds later... damn, they're becoming official..

On a side note, it's unusual how Hayate and Nanoha have no worry for Elio at all... seems they really trust Caro's magic that much.

- While most here expected Freidrich to grow bigger in StrikerS, I don't think anyone expected him to do so THIS SOON :twitch: Caro summoning Friedrich though = AWESOMENESS

- Caro and Elio "Strike Swallow" combo attack was infinitely awesome... and after seeing Elio and Strada in that victory pose at the end, I suddenly wanted Elio to have a Zankantou Full Drive Mode...

"Waga Nawa Elio! Elio Mondial! Aku Tatsu Tsurugi Nari!"

- Not much on our evil Dr Scaglietti, asides from the fact that he sure is living up to his preconcieved image :heh:

Details, details. As you can tell from my episode comments, half of it are half-joking anyway. (( But since it's comments, it's half-true as well. ))

Besides, if we ever get alternate!Elio (( I'm not going to hold my breathe since Fate doesn't seem to have anything too special either )), I highly doubt it'll be permanent.

Frankly...Nanoha/Hayate pissed me off a little in this episode. Faith, trust and confidence is one thing, but they have been exhuming some "holier than thou" Eye of the Beholder vibes that frankly, scares me a lot.

I think that there will be a lot of Erio shoutacons that will disagree with what you've said....

That aside, yes his transformation was just as awesome as the others, but to me Tia's stands on top of the rookies, mainly because it was very original. I love the card-like look of her device.

Speaking of this clan thing, if there's a sequel to StrikerS, I'm betting on Caro getting dragged back to be married to some big shot Clanner, without much complaint, and its up to Erio once again.

Well, we finally got to hear each character's individual theme music. For the most part I like them, but every time I watch Erio's transformation, I keep expecting to see a bunch of arrows scrolling up on the left side of the screen. (Left, Right, Jump Jump Jump! "Great moves!") That finishing move of his needed an "Aku. Zoku. Zhan!" though. :) (gah, with this and Subaru's GaoGaiGar references, I'm reading way too many other series into StrikerS...)

And the conversation between Subaru and Mach Caliber was choice. Now, in addition to Teana getting on her when she does something stupid, her own device will pile on. :heh:

One thing I saw that I don't remember anyone reporting yet is the person the "mad scientist" was talking too - looks like one of the clerks (?) from the Saint Church. Given the other comments here and there, personally, I'm now suspecting the entire Church, and maybe we can look forward to a TSAB vs Church finale.

In ep 4 we see Hayate comment that she and Carim have very different views on many things, but shared view on RF6 - and looks like the scientist guy likes getting data from the RF6 mages, and seems to care about that about as much as getting the Relic. Also, Hayate was suspicious about the timing of the Relic turning up.

Some other comments:

Caro's chances for saimoe just went up several notches this ep :D (Before, Rein was walking away with it for the StrikerS characters, I'd say). Also, looks like the only reason Caro is C+ rank and not higher (like A rank) is simply because of her ability to control her powers.

For some reason I feel like nicknaming Caro and Elio as "Pink Bomb" and "Lucky Star" :heh:

Meanwhile... Fate really is like a "mother" now - the way she acted in that flashback with Caro is very definitely "mother" and not "big sister". The people at that facility simply bad-mouthed Caro, but Fate didn't see that as a reason not to take Caro at all - and instead, when they leave, Fate asks Caro where she wants to go/live/do in the future, something Caro had never thought about before (since she was always being rejected). Fate's overall personality seems to be "Valkyrie MILF". (I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought "sexy wife underwear!!" on seeing Fate's transformation sequence the first time)

As for Nanoha, I thought back in ep 1 that her personality seems to have evolved into that of a "goddess". Looking at her transformation scene, seems like she's still wearing "shoujo" panties but I think nicknames like "Goddess of Victory" or "Goddess of Friendly Fire" would be appropriate for her :D

While I agree that Caro has increase her Saimoe standing. I think it is still going to be Fate that is going to be the one to beat in S. She was loli-hot before. now she is just damn HOT. Her transformation sequence is going earn her a lot of points.

Perhaps, but you have to admit, a new character we've never heard of before, and has a close connection to Hayate, provides excellent material for a 'dramatic betrayal'

Or maybe not. The strikers manga certainly cleared up a couple of plot-holes so far.

ahahahaha, ya I bailed for LQ caused I was bored and really wanted to see the ep^^

Alright on to the ep^^

First of, just awsome^^ love the transformation scenes (nosebleed....) Fate-chan is just sexy^^. As for future eps, will prob get the quick version we see in the OP (to the point with fanservice^^) The rookies scenes were nice (Subaru's just screemed mecha style lol) and they all got a unique finish (waits for better quality for wallie sizes^^) The battles were awsome and the Aces really shined^^ Mach Calibur sounded cool and funny, good old engrish^^ Poor elio, got owned hard till Caro stepped in for some bonding, uber sized friad and tag team action (is it just me or did that attack bare a striking resmmmmblance to zanbar form^^) The surprise (and its already been stated) is the mad scientist spagetti^^ and project F (i'm gonna rewatch the end of season one, I know presia was working on the same project, maybe try and catch a character that resembles spegetti^^ heck who knows^^ maybe spegetti is Fates father or at least his genes were used^^ (waits for flames and stones^^)

on a side note if Lecetia/the other guy (don't know his name) is created using a modified version of project F with data from the aces and new recruits then my bet is each takes on qualities of 3 of the mains. Lecetia (Caro, Tia and Nanoha) she appears as the summoner long range specialist, anf the other guy (Subaru, Elio, Fate) will be the close range specialist^^

i spoiled myself again...errr, need to REALLY wait patiently for subs for this one...
but its been revealed already that episode 5 revealed their transformation sequences...and Fate's one was the best out of everyone's....
but now on to mr.mad scientist...he's revealed in this episode, but now theres a reveal of "Project F", hmm i wonder whats that suppose to mean, but i can take a wild guess and say its "Project Fate", "F" being the name "Fate"....and i have a feeling that this part of the plot will really rely heavy on Fate in future episodes...i really hope the "mad Scientist" doesn't go all "I have a switch here and i could destroy Fate with one button" kind of deal, that would really suck!!
i guess my little speculation in the "general discussion" thread became somewhat true. Fate somehow knew this guy, so maybe Precia went to this scientist and requested that he make a clone of Allicia....and thus Project F started and Fate was born...but theres also the issue of Elio being found in the same lab as that scientist...i wonder if he was a failed experiment...hhmmmm
other than that, its also hinted that Caro could also hold some strong power....

errr, haven't seen the episode, thats as far as i'm gonna spoil myself already...although its obvious already whats gonna happen in this episode and the next....
until the subs, i wont be able to see the henshins of the Division 6 brigade...:(

About that whole mad Scientist thing:
I have a bad feeling this @#%$^&€!@$ is gonna investigate RF6 really closely. Especially Fate and Elio. I don't know if it's my paranoic side acting up or what, but I believe that if he was involved in Project F (wich I'm sure he was) he'll come up with some fatal weakness that the ones born from that project have, or something like that. I can only hope nothing serious will happen to the Aces though (cuz we all know that they just can't leave well enough alone.)

He seems to be really interested on em already at least as much as the relic or more.Something serious happening on our heroes should be one of the main plot for this season ^.^ i hope...it will be really great actually imo.

By the way isn't Erio move when he split the huge Drone also a reference to Banpreios' Tenjou Tenja Ken(forgot the full name), just noticed after rewatching the new raw.

He said about being happy and was able to collect data from them. I think he was interest in fata,nanoha and caro( i might be wrong with the character this is just a wild guess)

the real question lies in how lecetia and the other guy fit in? A new version of project F would make sense, and would explain all this data collection^^ (Their clones of all the aces and recruits ^_^) and why they look sorta similar in appearance to them, but if there not then I've got no clue? why is spegetti^^ collecting all this data for (maybe he's trying to exploit a weakness, but he seems more purposefull in his research)

This revival of Project F is really got me puzzled^^, and I'm more interested in finding out what he's up to, then the relics^^

I'm sure this scientist is going to cause some serious problems. Evil guy collecting data rarely ever leads to something positive. Whatever the guy is up to I'm sure Fate can handle herself. Should be interesting to see where things go. Plenty of time since we're only 5 episodes in.

He was interested in all of them, but had his perverted eyes especially on Fate and Erio.

Looking back at the part and his speech, 'that man' might have been refering to all of them, just that Erio and Fate just happens to appear last...

My thought on Erio/Carol for this episode:

1. Why did she consider Erio's 'accident' with her as one of her top 3 fondest memories of him? :heh:

2. Carol repays the favor of episode 2 by saving Erio from falling :), and after that they even traded (about) the same 'sorry' sentence.

3. Erio didn't make a sound when being cuddled ;)

4. I'm surprised neither Rein, Teana nor Subaru commented about that scene... We'll leave that to the 4komas then :p.

5. No offence Carol, but you chose a very bad time to be contemplating your past :heh: ...

Also, while people are pondering about the 'F' project, I'm wondering if the 'blood' on Carol's hand is foreshadowing...

...Erio may yet have another chance to play hero again.

Ah yeah, I forgot to post about that. :heh: Most girls would be thinking of their first kiss or something. Caro apparently reminisces about her first "grope". :heh: Lending more "weight" to StrikerS-nano interpretation of that scene. :heh:

I was intrigued by the symbolic bloodied hand of Caro, but I will wait for the fansub before speculating further. Still... I am pretty damn sure that Caro WILL become Lucetia or something (since Fate is a clone, maybe Lucetia could be an "evil" clone of Caro as well).

This episode is great. The transformation sequence is wow..... Btw did anyone notice that nanoha has bandages on her left leg during the transformation sequence. Is she injured or anything? Cause i remember fate did ask her if she is alright during episode 2.

To cut the roots of paranoia before it spreads out of hand...

I believe that was just part of her sock, if you freeze it right, you could see one on her other leg. And even if its really a bandage, when she was naked there were no scars or marks to indicate anything serious enough to be considered a problem, let alone life threatening.

Oh, and if any of you are looking for a critical missed detail... I'm surprised nobody has yet commented on how those drones ended up on Rein's feet. If she did take them out on her own, then that means she's learned lots since A's to Strikers O_o

Rein is A+ right? So we could more or less judge the drones to be around maybe B to A in terms of difficulty... For the smaller ones anyway.

For this episode I just wanted a bridge to knock out subaru while she was talking with her rollerblades. It would have been fitting punishment for stopping paying attention to anything but her own feet, and standing immobile on the top of a train crawling with enemies. :p

I'm... At a lost of words.
There's no need to say this, but the Henshin sequences clearly surpassed and left my expectations in the dust.
Well, I guess I should give my comment on each. (At the order in which I watched them)

Subaru: Her Henshin sequence was the most engaging both in the actual transformation and the BGM. It was cool and not unlike the Final Fusion scene from GaoGaiGar. Though the gemstone appearing from Mach Caliber looked a little TOO familiar.:heh:

Teana: At first I started blushing at her initial scenes of her Henshin sequence:heh: . After that, though, I think her transformation scene and BGM is very suitable for her style. To put it simply, her sequence was Smart and Stylish in contrast with Subaru's.;)

Erio: Short but cool. I gotta hand it to the kid, he takes a lot from his adoptive siblings' level of coolness. But I'm not too sure about other people's reactions..:heh:

Caro: Cute. No other way to describe it. :heh: The music fitted perfectly with the little-girl-mage image. She would fit really quite well in a non-violent Mahou Shoujo anime.

Fate: Now this where I started to feel my face heating up. In any case, her Henshin sequence was even more cooler than the one she used to have ten years ago, with the stylish sound effects and all. But the close up's really made me wonder which temperature was more suitable.:heh: I guess it's both Hot and Cool.

Nanoha: I don't know about you guys, but they just cranked up the Nanoha fanservice a hundredfold. I was wondering if steam was coming out of my ears from embarrassment because of the close-ups. (I don't mean to brag, but I have a better hold on my nose than most people. So at least I avoided some blood loss:heh: ) In any case, her transformation sequence was arguably the best articulated one of the ones shown so far. The BGM was suitable main character fare.

I can't wait to see Hayate's.

I don't know how many times, or how much more I can handle, watching all transformation sequences before passing out. XD
My head is already feeling light-headed after the fourth time through watching Fate and Nanoha transform. :eyespin:

Fate -> She likes black lace from the looks of it. :p I would have to say that her transformation sequence has come a long way from A's, and is more *cough* showy *cough* and nosebleed-inducing. BUT I DON'T MIND. ~.^)b

Nanoha -> I wish she leaves her hair down more often. Hopefully I'm not the only one that thinks that, but she looks absolutely beautiful that way, even just seeing it for just a split second. I agree with Aaron's comments above about her scene.

Watching Carol transform reminded me of another pink-haired cutey: MOMO from Xenosaga for some reason. ^^; And, seeing Friedrich transform into a larger version remind me of Neo Bahamut. Oh, she and Erio make a great pair. I would not be surprised at all that by the end of this season, she and Erio end up together.

I'm liking the fact that each of them has their own unique theme song for each and every transformation sequence.
