If you're asking me, the milk-udder Claire seems a tad unrealistic. Just imagine having to fight with those. The imitation of Yagi's cover for Claymore chapter 92 on the other hand I have nothing but compliments for.

I mean, as if blood smell weren't bad enough, they're exercising in their uniforms without bathing regularly and smell worse than humans anyways.

Well, we know they wash themselves when they can, in any lakes they can find, which also hopefully is drinkable(as with young Claire). Foodstuffs are a bodily requirement for humans(and Claymores), but not water for either, believe it or not(despite how helpful it is for nutrition, physical self and bodily health, especially in today's day in modern wealthy countries like America where nutrition and health is so important), so they probably don't think about it as much. What I meant to say is, I always assumed the handler(Rubel in Claire's case) the handler gives them fresh uniforms whenever they assign new missions, in the case they were ripped up. The uniform is the only thing Claymore's ever wear, but it's not like they wear the same exact one forever, their's no way they could.

Water is not an easy commodity in this kind of era, so it's probable that everyone stinks(unless they live near a constant water source, such as Sister Galatea and the bathes at Rabona), and they simply don't notice it. When you're near an awful smell and spend enough time around it, you eventually don't smell it anymore. It's the only way some dirty jobs(like the Discovery Channel show :heh:) can get done.

When it comes to bad breath, I assumed the enhanced healing of a claymore(whether offensive or defensive) takes care of internal problems as well as outside(which is why they're never sick despite walking around for days in terrible conditions). Plague and oral problems most likely don't exist for them. The same for excretion - as far as we know, they don't do it. They probably eliminate waste products a different, and better way then humans.

I mean, I applaud the effort the artist put in, especially with the sun and blood, but that just doesn't look like Teresa. Maybe it's the lips or the face but....I don't know, I'm not getting her vibe looking at her :(

Could be someone else entirely, but the hair and symbol tell me it's her.

Nevermind it, the symbol director was always drunk, he was the one who had less work and more days off :D
There are tons of situations like the one above all over the series...(i remember jean having galatea's symbol at the entrance of pieta)

So if you see something like this, dont get scared, it probably is a mistake :)

So what is it, a Hindu symbol? Hindus in the West always have to be careful, particularly if they come from Nepal/Himalayas. They tend to use a swastika there, although it was originated there and stolen by the Nazis as a symbol of their movement. I'm always a little taken aback to see the symbol in my Nepalese friend's flat, even if I understand why they have it. Problem is the Nazis totally destroyed it as a symbol of good. No doubt some Nepali immigrants to the West have figured that one out once they outraged the local community/Jewish populace by putting their religious swastikas on display.

In my defense, it took some...doing. About a few weeks...as for standouts...there was a lot of real spectacular art, I'd have a hard time bringing up all my favorites...the one that really got me though was the one Chinese doujin:

Which I badly hope gets a translation as it's pretty amazing looking

Ahh yes, the doujins, those were particularly incredible, especially since they focused on Priscilla and the Abyssals who don't generally get much attention at all, not to mention the sheer artwork. You don't even have to understand them to get the gist of the story which is well-written.

I think shelter was gonna translate them at one point; he did translate little bits I think, but never got to them.

Why not? Look at the possible 'graduate' in Extra Chapter 4, they aren't very old. Sides', Teresa was a trainee as a child when she met Rafaela. She's been with the Organization for most of her entire life.

Because I guess she was in her late twenties when she died. The ES1 gave me the impression Teresa had just been proclaimed claymore when she received Rosemary's black card. And she looked around 20 at that time.

The form from Pieta is better though; Claire's AB form will probably be a devil of some sort because she only cares about revenge. Goes nicely with Priscilla's "angelic" form.

Well, I think their's just about a 50/50 chance that Claire will eventually fully awaken down the road, even more if she's in the middle of fighting Priscilla. She'll go to any limit if it means taking her head, it's what she's been waiting for her entire life. Why hold back?

Call me crazy but I always think of Disney girls whenever I see her :heh::eyespin:, especially her prepubescent form. It's why I chose child Michelle Tractenberg to play her, and she was in nickelodeon movies :heh:.

For the most part, with their names, most of the girls are European I think.

Can't really answer; I'm not Asian, and I'm not in the manga business. Frankly, I'm happy though. I like stuff that have mixed demographics, It helps me connect more with the story, if only because someone's name or face is more western.

I suppose it makes sense though: America has the most mixed populace I think, and Asian countries, from what I learned, aren't very mixed at all. Mixed characters give way to creativity.

Claymore as a whole though, is very European. After all, it's called "Claymore", not "Katana", isn't it? :heh:

Claymore is setting in a very "medieval" Europe-type fantasy setting, so it makes sense for the characters to look rather Caucasian.

As for that DBZ drawing by Yagi, that actually looks pretty sweet. :heh:

That's quite simple, I read a uh, long, long time ago, that Animes are made for an international audience, so the characters get a bit of an international flavor to them so they appeal to everyone. As for Claymore, it is based on a European Medieval setting, so to give it the proper feel the Characters are European.

In Claymore's case it's clearly just more setting appropriate.

In general, there are a couple of reasons. The genesis of Japanese cartoons may begin with American imports, (like Archie) which may have influenced the style significantly.

There may be economic reasons, though that doesn't explain why certain commonalities are shared between art styles in books/cartoons that a exported, and those that are not, or why certain style elements predate any large Caucasian audience for Japanese work.

Some have argued that Japanese cartoons don't look Caucasian anymore than they do Asian. Big eyes are more expressive, colored hair is just more exciting, (It's not like people have blue hair for example...) and so forth. But while this, 'it's only in the eye of the beholder' idea has the ring of truth to me, there are still some oddities that it doesn't explain. (Why some characters may be given more obviously Asian features for example)

I also think that it's partly just hard to show the subtleties of features for some art styles or artists. In American comics, people often point out or complain about non-Caucasian characters not really having different features from their more Euro/American counterparts.

Anime Raki was annoying, Manga Raki is cool. He saved Clare from Awakening and being raped. He can even kill Yoma. It would be cool to see him killing an AB.

I read the manga up to a point first, before I got the Eclipse version of the Anime. I found Raki very annoying in the manga, though upon second reading I'm not as annoyed as I was then.
