Definitely my favorite though; in fact, I must ask if their is a bigger version, because it looks cut up. I love how they gave Raki red hair; it's like how some artists give Miria and Priscilla pinkish hair and it actually looks good on them too.

I'm not a big Isley fan, though I'm not as harsh on him as I was at the time I chose my avatar. Dunno if I wanted a lion for an avatar, and well Rigaldo male form is too pretty boy for me to want. Anyway, there a lot more guys with male avatars now than there were back then. geez. I think you are forgetting the situation. The Claymores and Awakened Beings were at war and Rigardo was figthing for the side of the ABs. You really expect him to betray his comrades and run away?

Because that was basically what those ABs were. Comrades.
We think of them as evil beings but almost all of those ABs were from the first Generation of Claymores and they shared a bond of companionship and maybe even friendship. These are ABs that fought togheter many times in the past against Yoma when they were Claymore.
We saw that with the three first ABs that attacked the Claymores (they were friends and seemed to know each other for a while) and we saw that there was a strong feeling of trust among them. So strong that they even followed Isley's orders and walked to their own deaths. Isley was the one who broke the companioship by betraying them.

Expecting Rigardo to desert his men, leave them to their deaths and run off is almost the same thing as expecting Miria to betray the Ghosts. They are natural leaders, both of them.
And remember that Rigardo wasn't even trying to kill every single Claymore. Cynthia attacked him and he ignored her while he could have just waved his hand the poor number 14 wouldn't have known what had hit her.

Dude! Dark female was my favorite way to play too... except for the fact the male could tease Bastila Shan more though! I loved how she reacted to it! (insert evil Laugh here) Of course it was George fraking Lucas who picked that Light male was the "official version" of what happened in an open game. However he did pick dark female for the sequel game...

I got too ask how was your favorite way to Kill Carth? Mine was a bit of an odd one, if you destroy the star forge (very unlikely for a Sith Lord to do) during your escape Carth catches you to you and Bastila and he tries to convince you to go down with the Space Station with him "In an eternal Act of Love and sacrifice for the good of the galaxy." Then Bastila gets so annoyed with the fool she begs you to let her kill him and you let her as Carth pleads with you stop her and join him in death. You just stare at him and say nothing... ah, good times!

Though my favorite evil act was to convince a Sith hopeful to jump off a ravine to earn prestige with the Sith just because it worked... without a jedi mind trick!

Your absolutely right that is a wraith. I just thought it kinda related and was cute. (also note I thought comparing Raki with Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell was funny, since he too wanted to join in the big boys world and fight the evil and he too took some time to become the hero the fight required. Plus he had a big sword...:p)

@haegar when I draw something and want to share it in the net or edit it I just Scan it, when I want to color something or edit it I use Photoshop, FreeHand, InDesing, Animator or Flash, depending what I want to do

About the mangakas, well they work with pencil & ink , then they scan it

some ideas though: the eyes have rather a blueish tinge than silvery which I find slightly irritating since I got so used to the silver from the orig cover art.
also, the sword hilt might gain a bit if it were a bit less yellow but rather more metallic / gold/bronze like ?

I'm doing some art just for fun myself, mostly working with acrylic and pastels, and mostly landscapes or abstract ..
I'm a damn novice at drawing people, even in simplified comic style though - which is why I haven't dared tackle some manga style pic as of yet.

Since I don't want to resort to copying the original art to the canvas and then just color it,

If I wannted to get a "rough" overview of the techniques involved in drawing manga, like getting the basics on doing body motion, facial expressions, hair style and the likes according to genre conventions, is there any thread on the forums here where that's under discussion, or does any of you people involved in the image thread here have some helpful links to some faqs, demos, whatever to sort of get into learning how to draw manga on a very "basic beginners" level?

or would you rather say forget the theory and keep on scribbling with pencil until you slowly get results?

An Anti-Villain: One clearly on the side of evil, but has some sort of excuse, belief, or philosophy to justify their actions and make themselves look like they're the good guys. This doesn't excuse them destroying the lives of generations of men and women and being responsible for every tragedy on the island.

Ophelia seemed like a psycho Claymore who just like to chopp people for fun. In the end, it turned out that her brother had been eaten in front of her eyes by Priscilla and she reedemed herserlf before dying.
Priscilla is a good example, too. And of course, Isley.
Even Luciela had a sad backstory that justified her actions.

Claymore is all about "What it is to be a human and what it is to be a monster?"
And we have seen cases where the true monster were the humans and not the "guts-eating monsters".

Dunno, if a categorize Priscilla as an AntiVillain. She is more the Greek Tragic Hero type. Also a Anti-Hero does not have to be on the side of good. They can be more neutral, or even the mercenary type that does their job for pay, and may even do an evil job along the line. It is just that the Anti-Hero is the protagonist that the reader follow, despite his character not being the perfect alter boy. Anti-Villain, I don't know, some of those definitions seem to describe the average Nazi Soldier who was just doing their jobs, according to them. Rigaldo being an Antivillain? I still don't know. The argument that he was just doing his job in a war against the humans is bull. First of the war was all about conquest to begin with, and he had to have known about the genocide of the North. I don't think the org started the war, it was Isley. Sure Rigaldo didn't know Isley's true goals, but he is far from being non-evil and having a good reason to be a general. People confuse charisma as one of the qualties of making an anti-villain.

He also knew all about the true story of Priscilla. That's somewhat impossible. The war itself has been going on for a century or so, but there have been over 70 Claymore generations which seem to be separated at seven year intervals.

No, Jean didn't survive the hit... Or at least so Jean claimed to Clare. In short Jean claimed she was dying from the wound inflicted by Rigardo's anyways, so what ever damage Clare would do to Jeans body when Jean risked her life to stop Clare's awakening was irrelevant.

Leave it to Jean to find a good way to use what little time she had left. I miss Jean... and Rigardo... :p

The fact that Ophelia's brother died in front of her is utterly unequal to the task of making me want to forgive her for trying to make Miria and Clare awaken (an especially terrible fate from the POV of the warriors) just so she could have fun killing them. She's a psycho claymore. There is no 'in the end'. Her actions did not redeem her.

Likewise, Isley was in awe of Priscilla's power and wanted to do as she wished. So what? Because his motivation was 'let Priscilla go south' and not 'I'm hungry' I'm supposed to like him? He was noble, and kind of cool, but if I lived in the Claymore-verse I would have thrown a party when he died, because he's probably the proximal cause of more deaths in the series than anyone else (MiB get ultimate blame, of course).

There wasn't even some half-assed 'oh no I stubbed my toe so I had to kill the architect who designed the building, his family, and all the witnesses' excuse for her, nor was what happened to her her own fault since it was the Org's experiment. She just awakened and became an amoral killing machine.

In Claymore, the true monsters are the monsters. And the Org, but I don't think those guys are human anymore either. I don't find any of them even mildly sympathetic. Well, maybe Priscilla, but only because it seems like her personality has completely changed since her 'wander around wiping out villages' phase. And even then, when she dies I probably won't shed any tears. Claymore is a series where humanity is unambiguously equated with good, because for all the flaws of humans the human side of the hybrid warriors is the side that doesn't exist solely to fulfill its predatory instincts and sadistic lusts. The warriors are depicted as better than humans only because the closeness and enormity of their 'dark sides' requires them to rigorously deny them in a way most humans never have to; those that fail to do so are certainly less than human.

How do we know Luciela was an 'amoral killing machine?' We only see her trying to kill Isley when they fight over the South and it's clear she genuinely loves her sister. And errr...last I checked, it WAS the Org's fault because she awakened in the middle of their experiment.

Awakening, it's clearly stated, changes the mind. So the monsters are victims in a manner themselves.

Her actions may not redeem her, but they do explain WHY she did what she did. She may not earn forgiveness, but you can't ignore the truth; her helping show Claire that even Awakened have humanity in them, and understand that she wasn't always the psychotic we always saw her as.

It's not about sympthy, it's about humanity. Awakened Beings have them, and the line between human and monster is getting blurrier and blurrier. The real monsters are the people who will rape and pillage where they please(The Bandits) and those who kill parents, take their children and make them into monsters for their own selfish wishes(The Org).

It's like MisterJB says: what is a human, what is a monster. If you claim the AB's are evil just because they're AB's.....I don't think you're really getting the story, because their is so much more then that.

Look at Riful; when she dies, her crimes of torture will not be forgiven, but you have to wonder, with her messed-up views, what it was like for years and years trying and constantly failing to get her "friends".

Hi Dietrich aka SilverDietrich, well I just finished watching both of your AMVs. I did slightly prefer the first over your second.

I had one real problem with both of them which is that as good as the music and clips where I didn't feel they totally connected. In short the lyrics of the songs didn't always seem to me to match what was going on in the video. Even though the song didn't fit video I like both Lunactica and Story of the Year, so I loved the music and the clips. I just wished they fit together better.

Also the action sequences didn't always match up to musics beat or stronger notes/lyrics. Considering these two AMVs were likely made at the same time, or close to it, I feel that they are pretty good.

Personally I felt more could have been done with the lyrics to "until the day I die" by story of the year. Since the song is about the pain of loss, which in essence is Claymore. If you redo that video and try to make it play to that theme, and not cool action sequences, then it could become great. I thinking making "the spell" by lunatica better would be harder, since the lyrics make it harder to make a good story with the video but not impossible. Also there is a very popular Claymore AMV that has another Lunatica song in it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPSmGsRK92Q&feature=related) so you will get people comparing the two and I hate to say it by the maker of that video was very very good. I short I would have clips from all of Claymore not just the final episodes and then you'd have more clips to make a story with.

Also note in the first video I noticed the moth flaps where super fast, I know it was to get the video to match the beat but I got a little distracted.

Oh, almost forgot, I was very happy you didn't have subtitles in your video. ;)

I don't know. Ever since chapter 90, I've grown to dislike her.

She needs a personality.


I don't like Tabitha either, I even like Uma (the humble) more :mad:

One more thing: I don't think getting a new hairstyle counts as character development, if falls under the category of........a new hairstyle.

WHO is she? Who? that's what I want to know. Being a decent sensor and a Miria lover doesn't count for anything. If that's all their is, she could be the most shallow "main character" so far :rolleyes:

That's true. If Tabitha died in this chapter, nothing would change. She is a good sensor but now the Ghosts have Galatea.

And even tough she seems to worshipp Miria, the Phantom doesn't give her more attention than she gives any other Ghost. She is expendable.

It's sad when fics developed more a characther than the canon manga.

those chapters have 5 different colorations done in the same day the raw appeared, you just have to choose your favorite.
And I remember fan arts of Helen without a eye appearing on the day after.

He didn't really make it black, it's got a bit more varied shades, and overall the red got a tinge of violet and dark shades... I think it looks pretty cool now with that 2nd version.

:D Thanks for colorizing Clare, I liked both version. I do have a minor suggestion, and it has to do with more philosophical interpretation than anything else, and that is your version makes it look like she was never fused with Raciella, whereas many of us have come to like the idea that Clare was part of Raciella and is forming out of the awakened flesh. So maybe having the color change on Clare limbs from awakened flesh to human flesh would be a great effect.

I personally like the colorizations here. I don't think criticizing it is good, because it looked great to me, and unless you can do better, what's the point. Many of us enjoy when these claymore pages are in color.
