The PVC mech's were probably designed before the series even started to air. As for Yoko, i can see plenty appearing soon.

It's a japanese hobby store that also sells items internetionally and they generally take reservations and pre-orders for incoming figurines. They couldn't air most of the parts of episode 6 due to the show's timeslot, so atleast we'll get what we were supposed to see with the DVDs. I've already pre-ordered the first DVD. :)

These figures seem to come with a card game of some sort. Release date for the first set ~July, while the second looks to be late August.

Just ordered the Yoko figurine (due out in September). My first blatantly ... well whatever Yoko is :)

Will keep an eye on appearance of other figures, but I do like the slightly cartoonish epic look of this figure.

Apparently it contains the full storyboard for episode 8, so I'm going to have to buy it I guess. It's up for order at Amazon, HMV etc

I'm kind of disappointed that none of the Gurren Lagann DVDs have any sort of printed visual books/booklets, as Aniplex as pretty good with that, so it'll be a good substitution.

Also, pretty lame, but the 6th DVD will be 15-17, only 2 episodes plus the recap :(

Woot. My first bought Gurren Lagann merchandise.... that's now in my hands (My first 2 GL dvds are in my friend's place in Japan waiting to be shipped).

It's not the Impact Series but called "Real Great Model Series".
The box is around 25cm x 15cm x 10cm. The figure itself is around 20cm tall. It's a prepainted PVC. Only good for display. Only thing that moves are the arms and you have to be careful rotating them because Gurren's chest glasses are in the way. There's a little paper inside that warns against rotating the arms wrongly or parts may break.

But still it looks good... for a display model.



For those wanting more, you can wait for the Impact Series of GL and Lagann. I'm still waiting for Anti-Nia PVC.

I've been rewatching the series in the past week, and it does look like only that many. It wouldn't be to much of a surprise if certain tracks were missed out though.

Ah yes, it is indeed mentioned to be level 3 in assembly ^^; I didn't notice that at first. So it's just roughly colour molded and to get the right colors you'll need to paint it. If you can't paint, you're better off buying something else imo.

They're actually selling the magazine spreads as posters. I for one think they should release a lot of the official art as posters, even most of the TGC have awesome illustrations.

I didn't see the ending as a message about the loss of happiness at all. Simon still seemed content at the end of the episode. He was content to let others finish what he started.

Didn't really know where to put this but oh well....

Here's a brief summary of the added stuff to the GL second novel. Just to see if people are interested enough for a translation:

・Kidd and Ailack come from the same village. Ailack was a ladiesman while Kidd always failed to get the girl, so despite Ailack always being friendly towards Kidd this second guy always guarded some kind of resentment towards him. Finally, Ailack helps Kidd with his childhood friend he always liked but soon after their village is attacked. Kidd and Ailack barely survive, hear about the rumors of Kamina and decide to fight for freedom.
・Twins were completely useless in their village and everyone picked on them, but they were the only ones fool enough to believe the rumors of a human piloting a ganmen and managed to steal one and save the town, becoming heroes. They decided to join the Brigade fighting the Beastmen.
・There's this Yoko and Nia relationship chapter after episode 12 where they speak of the man in the Brigade.

I've finally beated the game for TTGL and even though the story do follow the ending in some ways (seriously speaking), there are a few changes and differences in the game compare to the anime. So I'm not sure if the game can be consider canon.

- For the fact, we know that Nia have an older brother, whom he's also half beast half human (I do need someone to confirm this).
- Instead of the AU illusion, Simon is back in Jiiha Village.
- We don't get to see Simon and Kinon chasing after Rossiu in his attempt for suicide
- Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann does not make an appearance but instead is a special move that you obtain in Ep 50. You're still Gurren Lagann
- Boota of him transforming is not shown.
- "俺達を、誰だと思ってやがる！！！" [Who the hell do you think we are] is a sonic boom base attack that makes your opponent dizzy for 30 second.
- You battle Anti-Spirals
- The wedding was taken place inside a church, not outside like the anime.
- The entire quote before forming Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann like from the anime, only consisted of Nia, Yoko, Leeron, Viral and Simon.
- We do not see Kittan Kissing Yoko
- Only Viral did a better job voicing in the quote than the rest. The other 4 barely put much of an effort or feelings into the quote. They sounded like they were literally reading it off from a script.

I think he's just annoyed either way. I mean, if this was a western cartoon/comic with the level of popularity Gurren Lagann did, we'd have that figure already. I'm very frustrated at how few anime get action figures, yet there are countless non posable figures and flimsy model kits that fall apart when you put them in a bag. "Otaku" is looked down upon in Japan very much, but that's no different from here.

I checked the size of Yoko, it's just over 5.5 inches(average height for a woman in feet), making it perfectly in scale with modern 6" figures(unlike a lot of unrealistically tall comic book females, hint hint).

Simon IS removable and his upper half has quite a bit of articulation.

BUT his lower half (legs) are molded in a sitting position.

Hehehe. It's a 4.8 inch plamo (plastic model) which is coming in March 2008.

Some assembly and paiting is required for it to look THAT good.

From what I can tell there's a wide range of movement in the waist, elbow, thighs, neck, and arms.

It also looks like the Flight Pack can collapse.

The smaller Impact Gurren Lagann looks to clunky. But the Revoltech looks a bit "Too" streamlined... I'll go with the Revoltech. Rasengan there looks awesome, a lot more so than Gl IMO. The larger Impact model is of course amazing but way out of my price range, plus I prefer to have a smaller one. I love the Revoltech line as a whole too(apart from the overly Ratchety articulation).
