Haha, if you thought Tamaki and Kyouya was enough, wait until you see this episode;)
Takada Kiyomi is voiced by none other than Sakamoto Maaya, yes, the other Haruhi!
Coincidence? Premeditated? Maaya's version of Kiyomi is much better than the raw seiyuu who voiced her during her university days.
Light now has the advantage by winning over Mikami, and then Kiyomi, to whom he reveals his identity. Looks like the Kira Investigation Force is playing into Light's hands as well, including Aizawa.
Mello's keeping tabs on Misa, and from the looks of the previews, things don't look promising for her.
Anyways, everything's starting to unfold as the story progresses towards its climax.

Wahah no wai,too much Ouran xD
Light is pretty cold-hearted isn't he? Now that Misa does not have the shinigami eyes and is under constant monitoring, Light has "dumped" her and is moving on to other "more usefull" allies ... poor misa
My god... I didn't think they were gonna do it, though they added the much NEEDED Mikami backstory, and it was done perfectly.

Wait, they actually changed her voice actress? To Maaya of all people? Wouldn't something like this have received at least a little bit of publicity? Because I haven't read about it outside of this board.
Not entirely buying it at the moment.

Two new characters introduced in one episode lol.

sub is out :)
well the episode was pretty good except of kinda alot of background info, but still stays great
this is imo the best episode after the L arc.
It's getting my hopes up since I thought the storyline is going to die down after L.
Excellent episode, im really like Mikami now after that backstory. Kiyomi is cute :D

ELIMINATE!!! :D
and now we have a trio of kiras ~ :twitch:
and with misa taken out of the action mello isnt getting any information >_< this is bad...its going to be very interesting to see them wrap things up with the remaining eps...with kira seemingly invincible atm :uhoh:
When Kiyomi opened that door to the hotel room....
How many of you screamed "Then there was... Host club!"?
I mean, come on, they HAD to do that on purpose. :D
I almost expected some cherry blossoms to fly through out of nowhere.

this gotta be the golden week for anime fanatics!
episode was hot, easly 10/10
Very good episode, but how did Light convince them to turn off the bugs? What reason would there have been to do that? I assume he meant to imply that Kira demanded it, but as far as they know he has no way to know if they complied.
I think that Mikami has some serious psych problems.......

meh, didnt care much for this ep. i want mello and near.
He pulled the plugs and they all needed to be turned off manually
But what explanation can Light offer for removing the bugs if he's not Kira? He could have just lied and told "Kira" that the bugs were gone while still recording. Surely the investigation team should have realized that the only reason Light would actually agree to remove the bugs is because he's going to say something incriminating, and if they had left in a bug they would have heard his confession.

I agree that part needed another 5 seconds of making sense.

in some instances where you have 1 second to decide, especially instantly after he just killed a sakura tv person. You might think getting rid of the bugs would be a request to honor if you want to live, it would be a dangerous situation for the investigation team.

Its the fact that they dont know what was being said on the phone, so they have no idea what was going on. It was just a panic, and for all they know on the phone mikami could be saying "I'm looking at your team now, tell them to remove thier bugs or i'll kill them all"

Hrm I still don't quite get it because if that's the case wouldn't Kira want his opposer gone anyways? The police investigators should have been suspicious that Kira would even think about sparing them.

This episode is great, its Ouran Note OVERLOAD!
Gotta love that embrace lol
Light-"Haruhi!"
Kiyomi"Senpai!"
this should have been added too ^^
Mikami-"Thats an interesting opinion"

rolf @ le ouran comments. :D
Yeah I was a bit confused about how the investigation team were convinced to remove the bugs....... Would anyone be so kind as to provide a translation for whatever Light scribbled down? That's probably where the answer lies.
I'm hopeless at kanji... and it's a bit blurry so some characters I'm probably reading wrong but here's what I can read so far:
Kira "______________________"
_____________ be ma de ro(??) to
itte iru
Yaru o __ zu _______ su.
XD
hahaha I suck...
They had no time for a proper explanation.
Kiyomi is constantly being followed by a bunch of bodyguards as the spokesperson for Kira. Even then, they were all patiently waiting outside the room.
Light fakes a message along the lines of:
"Kira will send a signal to the bodyguards to search the room for any bugs; should they find any on me, I'm dead. I'll turn them off and hide them."
They have no choice but to accept this, nobody really wants Light to die. Of course, it's all a bluff as Light would never allow the bodyguards to enter and see his face, but nobody knows what happened after the bugs are gone so it's all good.
Don't worry, this convenient threat does add to everyone's suspicions.

Ahhhh see it does make sense. ;)
Thanks Cytrus. You have brought much peace of mind. :D
The whole of episode 32 was just perfect, a perfect Death Note episode that kept the same tension as the manga.
For a long time i've been worried how they'd show Mikami's backstory --- its needed, because it explains what drives him, his past that makes him the man he is today. I loved every second of it, new music was a much lovely added bonus that shall appear on the third soundtrack. It was love-love. <3
Kiyomi is hot and moe, so nothing has changed there at all --- her reaction to finding out Light was Kira made me so happy, it was delivered better then the manga. Light's 'player' act had me loling, though the second the phone rang, thats where it all happened, and just what i wanted to see.
Sakujo.
& lol Matt.
So many great episodes these few weeks. Every episode from every series seems uber buffed with greatness.

Back on topic...
Great episode, really love the dark side of the hero-concept. A little helped along, but one of the smartest story developments I've seen in a long long time.
whats with death note choicing so many voicers from ouran host club..><
How old is Light now (in this episode)? & How old was he when he first got the Death Note?
The Mikami story part could been a bit shorter, other than that great episode as usual.

Another orgasmic episode from the second part of the story. Me too, at first, thought that turning off the bugs were dumb, but thanks for the explanation!

Hmmm...the background music playing during Light's phone conversation with Takada reminds me of NGE.
Also, to note....the shadowing and tone of the hotel room in the anime did improve the overall mood, compared to the manga.

I loved this part of the manga. After Light makes the comment about the pages and the date, Mikami responds, "Are you God?" and then Light replied, with his devilish smile, "Yes." I was like Hot Damn!
My first 10 in a while :)
I think its time that mikami goes mental!
....but he looked so fuckin' hot in this episode..
the glasses!..the hair...pwoar!
XD

I wonder if Madhouse was intentional in reuniting Miyano Mamoru and Maaya Sakamoto for another Ouran Host meeting - in a hotel room of all places. lol
Was quite pleasantly surprised that they switched to having Maaya doing Kiyomi's voice without warning when I saw the credits.
I thought the manga did a better job in the conversation between Mikami and Light:
Mikami: Are you God?
Light: (in a very casual way) Yes.
That reply rocked, was quite disappointed they modified that part.
Confrontation between the two Haruhis (Misa and Kiyomi) over Light is inevitable. :D

This was my least favorite episodes so far. I found it kind of boring. The back story wasn't bad but the rest of it seemed to really drag on.
yes! I divined the ending just now. Misa is going to kill Light for cheating on her. :P
Mikami: Are you God?
The conversation might of worked put better in the manga, but there's no way you can beat Mikami's reaction in this scene --- it was INSANE, and what was needed for the perfect Mikami.

In a way, that would be a smarter thing to do. Directly asking "are you god" is very risky, as the person might not have been kira. Think of it, all kinds of people could have went to find her because of her fame. By asking "who are you", light, who knew that was kira, could answer a correct answer, november 26, 5 pages, which was the date in which mikami got the death note.
Which brings us to another question: if no death notes were involved, how could light accurately know that it would reach mikami on nov 26? There could be a delay or something o.O

He did it so there wouldn't be a delay, makes sense don't you think?

Mikami seems to be a good choice, but he also seems mentally unstable. So I think that'll be he (and Light's) downfall. He will over do stuff later on (just a guess, I didn't read the manga). And with Mello and Nia investigating, it's even harder to move then it was with L. It'll be interesting to see if Light can survive till the end.

The problem I forsee is that Light is used to dealing with stupid and easy-to-fool people. This time, he's got some who's intellect and forsight rival his own (with a dash of mental instability).

Very creative and exciting episode, it was surprising in many ways:)
I watched it with 2 friends who liked Light and they !screamed! through every frame where he appered dressed up for a meeting Takada. They screamed at his cheesy voice as well and when Mikami called and asked for Light I thought my ears would gone deaf..... I'm glad Light had a chance to use his Tamaki charms again. Meeting scene resembled Host club really, especially with instrumental BGM. Usage of such music was also a crative find for me too. When Light was walking down the stairs afterwards I could sense him thinking "Just as I planned" again. That was the hottest scene with Light ever.
Mikami's background has been executed perfectly, it looked more interesting than I excpected it to be. Here comes a moral about how bulling might influence people. Maybe Mikami wouldn't become like that without such experience and probably Light would live same lonely and boring life like Mikami if he never found the note... I wonder.
Mikami's eyes look weird. They express a complex emotion. I kind of understand him but maybe anybody could explain me more about that.
Matt appeared, thats so nice. Now Mello has got Matt and Light got Takada and Mikami, and Mikami made contact with Light so... let strange inclinations bloom :p
This episode was made of pure win, and now it feels so sad to know there are only 5 episodes left :upset:

2nd part of the episode was absolute perfection. Mainly when Mikami and Light speak. The music, set the tone perfectly.
If ever there was a better anime then this, i have yet to see it. :D
Light is truly the Messiah. He gets anything he wants.

I second that. The animation looked exactly the same as it was on episode 25 or 26. The ominous, gray shade colors were present to deliver an effective gothic mood to the hotel scene.
I can only come to think up that Light asked everyone else to uninstall the bugs under the pretext that Kira would Kill him if they dare to keep going on recording the conversation.
I have been at the Claymore thread for episode 8 recently, and sure the world is a very little place.
Why I am saying this? That is because Death Note introduces once more another two characters who share and hold true Kira's B&W vision of the world.
Mikami simply became fed up upon all the daily abuse and excesses he had to endure and witness others to endure from the very stages of his life.
At the long term, it caused him an evetual trauma that contributed to lay steady on his belief that people doing whatever evil deeds regardless of the reason are evil and, therefore, must be erased.
The comparison I am making between Mikami's character and Priscilla's as well is about blind faith about a good that must be absolutely righteous for the rest of the world to worship and put into the practice.
Was Takada Light's girlfriend? In Episode 4 (I think), Light asks Yuri out for that Raye Penbar incident. Takada was only shown talking to Light in a lecture and I think Takada showed disinterest in Light or something.

They sort of dated back in college...in that episode where Misa was arrested on suspicion of being 2nd Kira...i think it was.
yes! I divined the ending just now. Misa is going to kill Light for cheating on her. :P
I hope so! I really loathe Misa, but I hate cheaters even more :heh:
Mikami is a great character, and brings a lot of life to the anime. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

Bah, they're introducing too many elements into the story already.
Even so, I find the plot still a little personalised, with everything conforming to the lives of the characters too easily. For such a widescaled plot, I feel that the story could have revolved around events rather than characters and for that I feel a little discontent.
But I guess that's alright because the entire death note series focuses alot more on character development rather than plot development. heh, the personality conflicts I find, would be the main pulling factor of the show. I guess the theme of death serves only as a medium to pry into the separate characters XD.
Indeed, Mikami plays alot on this; ;)
Still, if I keep that aside I find the overall sequencing very amazing and I quite love this series up till now. With regards to episode 32 I'd still have to see what impact it has to the rest of the story in the upcoming (few) episodes since it's the start of something new =D
I'd probably nine this =D

I thought I’d puke from Raito’s over sweetness... It was just too much... I mean that voice sounds so faked!!! It flows like honey!
Ryuzaki used to eat all the sweets... Raito is obviously either injecting it or smearing it onto himself.
ok this has been driving me crazy, maybe I missed something...if someone could clarify it for me I would be eternally grateful:
in the scene where Mello is spying on Misa he says
"Near said this girl could be the second Kira."
When did that happen?! The last time Near and Mello spoke (ep 30) the only thing Near (well actually the blondie agent) told Mello was that there was a second L right? Plus Near only figured out that Light was the second L and the original Kira suspect in episode 31...so wtf?
:confused::confused::confused:

how is that a helpful suggestion? Up until now the anime has been pretty coherent, now suddenly they give things for granted just because "it's in the manga"? Somehow I doubt that.
Why did they remove all the bugs in the apartment?? I dont get it.
