The ED is by Kosaka Riyu, though I much prefer the OP, and am impatiently waiting for it. The OST of Claymore is also quite excellent. As with a few others this season, I'm verily looking forward to it. ^^

Claymore is also one of the few series I've considered getting merch of... when we start to see some good stuff show up, anyway.

i saw that when i went on my trip to japan a month ago. It was going for something like 6500 yen. I'm also assuming they are waiting till the anime finishes and has the japanese manga doing weekly before they begin launching out pvc figures ;)

I dont think theres any wallscrolls at the moment. So far, theres only the promotional poster for auction up on ebay. From where I live, theres an anime convention going on Aug 24-26. If theres a Claymore wallscroll, I'll let you know. Than from there, you can start looking around. : /

Which frankly, impossible.

But a Raki figure to complement the Claire figure is quite nice but I knew it is also a pipe dream. Theresa will be a logical choice.

While the paintjob looks 'okay', the sculpt job suggests it is more of a capsule figure. If they really put a 6000 yen price tag on it, that is robbery.

Hello everyone, This would be my first time ordering something through a japanese site that uses yen as its main currency as the price point. I've ordered stuff through play-asia.com before but they use USD amounts. My main question that I would like answered is. Will the credit card company convert my bill to USD or who does that if that even matters, or even if I need to be redirected to a different part of the retailers website to get the right price in USD listed. Any info would be appreciated, if anyone was wondering, I'm looking to purchase the Clare figurine through HLJ.

PS. If I use paypal are they going to convert the money as well? Well once again thanks for any feedback and help.

Paypal gives you the option of converting first, so that you get billed in your normal (USD for you) currency. If you don't choose that option, your card company should convert any foreign currency to USD as well, usually (as far as I know) for a slight percentage fee. They'll do this both if you use Paypal or your card directly. But there are other sites selling in USD if you want to avoid all that. The prices seem to be fairly close.

Well, besides Hobbyfan which was already mentioned, I know about Kid Nemo (http://www.kidnemo.com/) and Toyslogic (http://www.toyslogic.com/). Both of those are kind of less known in general, I think. I placed my order at Toyslogic for the better shipping price (outside of the US), but I have placed one recent order with Nemo. The response time with processing the order from the people there has been good, and I expect it will be here next week, but the shipping seems to be higher for non-US people than on some other sites

most likely by popularity. If the show is not popular, no one will notice the name or even know what it is.

Consider figurines in the Fate/Stay Night and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Some figurines there such as Saber from (Fate Stay Night). and Fate Testarossa (Nanoha) were re-issue base on popularity of the show.

Other things to consider when making a figurine could be:

- Advertising the show to increase popularity,
- By manga popularity - ( this is hard to take a guess as some anime are based off games and some are based off the manga, so you can't really say is ALL on manga popularity, you have to consider Japanese Games as well too.)
- By anime series - (er, like above mentioned. Anime (majority of them are based off either the Game or Manga's popularity. If that condition is met, they will consider making one)
by character - hm...it could be a possibility, chance is low though. But if the character is the main character in the manga/anime/game, chances will increase. However, as of now i can only recall so little amount of characters that were made into actual figures due to low popularity of the manga/anime.

edit: as you can judge by my sig and avatar, you can tell which character i want as a figurine ^^. but i can only hope, would not put my hopes up for it though. However, a Teresa figurine would be able to satisfy me xP.

By chance, I ordered my figure really early (near the day it came out, I think!)... I happened to be searching around and found it at Hobbyfan. When I saw it, I was in shock and ordered it immediately.

I've ordered from other sites before, Hobby Link Japan several times... HLJ has been great. Is Hobbyfan trustworthy?

It's really too bad Amazon Japan does not ship toys including figurines/figures internationally, because consumers would have more options. This one is dictated by law so I wonder if it's a very similar to the case of what Amazon will or will not ship to foreign countries. The official tv site still says November but Amazon Japan says 2nd December,still not to long to wait either way unless it gets delayed.

I preordered the figure so I'll be opening it up on Christmas day,look foward to seeing images though of the actual released figure.

Hopefully they will release more figures of other characters,infact multi joint action figures would be cool...with removable limbs of course :heh:.

Honestly, while I never expected the mass produced model to look anything like the one released for show.

It's still slightly dissapointing to see the two side by side.
There are a few subtle differences such as the belly button depression and some lost definition.

Yeah unfortunately I think they used a premium chrome paint for the display model and a cheaper "metallic paint" for us ruffians.
To be expected, though when you're spending a fair amount on a piece of plastic you kind of expect high quality materials.:uhoh:

Haha, this is when you go to a model shop and get shiny metal paints! I built a gundam once and it was a terrible purple and dull black. Then my friend asked if he could paint it, because he liked doing that kind of stuff. Now it looks like it is real metal and it is AWESOME! In exchange I taught him how to mix skin tones and boil the models to bend them into new positions... it was a bad mistake. I don't know what I was thinking. But anyway, all hope is not lost.

Also the first one looks a lot better because they painted the base chrome as well giving it lots and lots of dramatic lighting and showing off all the curves. I'd throw some chrome in her eyes as well. Just because.

I'm always skeptical when it comes to metallic paints, especially chromes, because I know they have a tendency to rub off when being handled.
Any recommendations at all?

I wouldn't even consider stripping the original paint mind you.

My friend was the one really into it, and mostly for model cars, which worked well for the gundam. I just happened to know color mixing better from an art class. But what my friend did was put a primer on the model and then had a paint with metallic flecks in it that he put all over the metalish. He had a silver paint that he mixed with black that ended up looking pretty shiny and cool. We didn't sand or polish it to make it mirror like or anything, but it gave it kind of a rough look that looked good for a gundam. Too bad he wasn't around after I made my wing zero... but it looked good anyway.

There is a plethora of information on the interweb if you type anything to do with "resin model paint" in google. But some of it gets a little bit crazy...

As I spend most of my time painting models and miniatures I might repaint bits if they truely look terrible.

After being assaulted with router and uploading issues I've finally managed to throw up some pictures I initially took.
Hopefully I can obtain some clearer pictures after playing with the flash settings and adding a light to the background to help remove the shadow.

Seems like pictures don't really do the figure justice. Mine also came today and the armor seems a lot shinier than I've seen in many of the pics posted here.

By the way, where did those other Clares come from? I have never seen or heard of any besides this one until now.

The medium sized one came with the japanese Claymore vol.8 and the small silver one came with the final issue of monthly Shonen Jump, which was in June I think.

I already had one pre-ordered from a different supplier, but I had a look at play-asia. The day after they went on sale they were sold out.

It would be doubtful for anyone to order one now and get it in time for Christmas, unless you were able to get it through physical pickup.

here is something I have came across before with a friend who buys a figure where its value is lower than the original value. He did not buy it online of course but he bought it off an anime convention. The figure was a limited edition product. When he bought it and open it at home and put it on the table, he found out that its...Tilted, meaning the figure doesn't stand properly.

This is something I advise, only buy something from someone who you believe is trust worthy, I'm not saying that don't buy from that person on ebay but keep this in mind that you might have a risk when buying it online. However, if you order/ buy it from an anime shop aka. Retail Stores than I believe it should be fine.

I have Clare, and the one in your eBay link is most likely a fake, going by the pictures up on the auction. The real Clare has black painted "panel lines" on the metal clasp on her chest, a dark line is also painted between her closed lips and both her feet point forward of her body.

The eBay auction one has a more yellow looking hair color and red colored "Claymore" lettering, which the real one does not have. It also lacks the light pink lipstick and the line between the lips of the legit figure. eBay has one foot pointed in another direction, and in that boxed pic do I see detached legs? :twitch: I'm pretty sure all the legit ones come fully assembled, hehe.

It's probably a fake, as is 99% of the low priced pvc figures from HK sellers on eBay. The Cammy I have in the pic on the previous page was a bootleg, but I only realized it after wondering why it was so cheap and then Googling more about bootlegs.

Hon Kong has a lot fake figures. Read the item description carefully, does it say it's from megahouse? does it say 100% original??

I got mine from local retailer, and I paid 80 CND. :)

As I see from the picture, the color is off than mine, and the writings on the base isnt colored on mine neither. If u read more carefully, it's assembled and painted, so it's probably a garage kit or something...

Got a notice a couple weeks ago from the place I preordered from that they got shorted by 50% of what they ordered, so they had to cancel mine. Ended up poking around ebay for a while, finally ordered one today. Of course the ebay sellers have plenty available, running about twice the retail cost :/

Of note, I've seen a lot of listings lately that are half the cost of the 'original' series of listings (first run of listings were about $120, second tier are at about $70) that are shown with a black box with no manufacturer given, rather than the yellow box noted as being by Megahouse. I suspect the black box version is bootleg, though it might also be a lower-quality second-run printing. And then of course there are the ~$20 listings. Saw one sell for $2. Shipping/handling was $40 (compared to $20 for most other sales). Doesn't take much to guess the legitimacy of that one.

On the figure linked to above, the colored base is probably going to be the easiest to spot tipoff, but the painting as a whole (and especially the head/face) is really jarring to look at. It just screams "amateur" compared to the polished, professional look we've seen in the promo materials.

There's no way to be sure that what shows up on your doorstep is going to exactly match what you hope you bought, but I'd look first at all the highest-priced versions to be the guideline of what the original version should cost, and check out those ebay sellers' auctions first (eg: several seem to have a few Buy It Now listings, and then a few regular auction listings if you're willing to go through the bidding process) before trying to find the cheapest available.

the one on danny's blog is the wonderfest sample. they changed the paint maybe meterial due to the cost... ( i think ) I wish they made a PVC with Clare half Yoma pose, that would be so wicked. similar pose with the toy'swork one, but with old armor and you can switch legs and head

Musefan I'm not from Texas but if you want to buy the manga any comic book store should have them. They might not have every volume out which is a total of 12. Your best bet is a barnes and noble book store in the manga section. If you luck out they might have all 12. Which retails for 8 US dollars each.

As for the DVD, as long as you have a region 1 DVD player, the best play is Best Buy or any store that sales anime DVD's. Price is around 22-30 US dollars. Only 1 volume episodes 1-5 are out as of now.

They did stop selling it, but now they are re-releasing it in Feb for those who didn't get one when they stopped years ago.

I already got that one too, I think they should make new ones, other characters etc

Got one too, but I'm guessing a lot of people didn't considering that that figure was sold out everywhere well over 2 months before the release date. Always baffled me as to why they didn't make more. Now I fear it may be too late with those chinese knock-offs floating about.
(hope they make good Galatea and Teresa ones - I'd even settle for a re-release of Teresa)

I bought the OST, but noticed there are tracks missing. Many songs played in the background of Ep 19 and on are not on the CD, such as when Miria fights regardo at first, and immediatly after that

hi there, im new here, im a huge claymore fan, im pretty much looking for anything and everything claymore, i have all US dvds up to this point i have 2 figures (the one where she is standing in her normal outfit and the one where she is kina crouching), i have the teresa wall-scroll, i know of the clare wall-scroll and the 10 pc mini figure set, i also know of the necklaces, what else is there out there that is claymore, have the OST and i know of the character song CD, also if anyone knows of a replica sword of any claymore that was made that would be great

Other than a clare pencil board, and a key chain I think you listed everything. There used to be 2 more pvc figures - one of clare and one of teresa - that came out (I think) as part of a japanese volume release of the manga (many years ago - way before the anime). Those figures seem to be long lost to history though. If you do manage to find the Teresa figure somehow, sell it to me - I'll pay even an unreasonable amount for it.

It's the first I've heard of any wall-scrolls though - got any links?

edit - Oh yeah. They did make a one-off life-sized claymore sword for promotional purposes though around the time the anime came out. I've seen pictures of it (it's nice), but AFAIK it never went to market.

Well, for the price, no doubt it's something of a rip-off. I seriously doubt it costs even $50 to produce, but I must disagree about the "ugly" thought. I think the black goes very well with the metallic silver. If Yagi had colored Claymores like that for the series from the start, I would've liked it even more. It gives Clare a very nice vibe and look in my eyes. She looks more like a sleek assassin or soldier than a more dour, gray-colored warrior.

Yes there are lots that like Galatea and Teresa. The amount of people who are willing to pay for a 100USD+ figure for them are ignorable.

And FYI, i probably started Claymore earlier than both of you :p.

@ Ryuken, i don't think that's included in the resin haha. The 100 promos are nearly sold out now, price will be back to 160USD original soon~.

There would be more people willing to buy Galatea/Teresa figures then Clare figures, that might even apply for Miria as well, as she is almost as popular as Clare.

I've only read up to the point where they figured out that the land is just a test place for building soldiers. And at that point I really liked Miria and Claire only~~.
I mean Teresa's dead already and Galatea's blind, get over it =P
I'm waiting for half a year before i read it again so can skip the hideous wait time.

As for figure on Teresa and Galatea, i don't think that's possible until a year after 2nd season of the anime finishes. In the trading figure they released, only Teresa was included. If you were to ask me, I'd say there's a higher chance for Miria to be produced in a bigger size first~

I think your figures for people who buy figurines is a bit high across the board. I doubt the number is even 3% - still, that's 3% of a very large number.

In any case though, I will say this:
The Clare 47 pvc is the only figurine I have ever bought (and I think it's perfect). Since then I have considered purchasing others, including the other Clare one, but decided against all of them - I don't want my place to be overrun by models of anime characters. I guess I'd feel too much like the the guys from Otaku no Video, or the fat animator from Animation Runner Kuromi...
If, however, a similarly high quality figure of Teresa or Galatea-sama ever appeared, I'd buy it in an instant. They're both worth the little remaining dignity me and my humble abode have.

As for starting Claymore before me... I read my first chapters of it about about 4 or 5 years ago now. Then ran out of chapters (the scanlators only did a few chapters), and stopped for years before picking it up again around the time of the anime. I fail to see how that relates to anything though.

I've been waiting for a Teresa figure since I watched the first episode of the anime. Read the manga after, loved the short story with her in. I'm a Teresa addict.

Got a Teresa wall scroll and the trading fig of her in normal colour and silver.

I WANT HER FIGURE!!...........

As for the re-colour of Claire, I do buy everything I can of claymore. But, and don't get me wrong it does look good, I wouldn't buy the same figure re-coloured for 4 times the money I paid for the original.

Though thanks for posting it ;) want to at least know everything that comes out for it.

Warhammer model (http://www.chestofcolors.com/cofc-postnuke/index.php?full=1&set_albumName=wfb&id=ariel&name=Gallery&include=view_photo.php) Those models (metal and plastic) are made in 28 (bigger) scale, which means a model of an average human is 28 mm high. Model on the photo is a model of a monster, substancially bigger, but it's at max 10 cm high. I was converting and painting such models once, so claymore models looks for me... lets say, funny.
