Plot predictions for episode 9:
-Konata wins a contest for her fanart submission and gets to have her mug printed in the next issue of Newtype Magazine as well as list of her vital statistics.
-Miyuki gets to model a swimsuit as a result of a chance meeting with a talent scouter. The event is sponsored by Kadokawa Shoten and the logo will appear on her swimsuit. Much nosebleeding will ensue. Miyuki bathing suit goes on sale July 15th in time for the summer season. Girls who wear it will get all the guys.
-Kagami finally takes up boxing and is recruited to fight in a female boxing event sponsored by Bandai.
-Tsukasa become Kagami's Mickey and trains her by forcing her to chase a chicken around a stock yard. Hilarity ensues.
-Kona Pops attends the boxing event that Kagami is a part of and takes many pictures with his extendable lenses, he also has a camera stashed under the ring.
-Yui makes an appearance says something then vanishes
-Teach opens up the latest newtype to see Konata's mug staring back at her and has a panic attack.
-Mystery loli from episode 8 is walking down the street when she trips falls and rolls downhill for about a full minute taking down everyone and everything in her path, before exclaiming "MOOOOOO! Itai Yo!"
Yeah.. I don't actually watch the previews for the next episode in anime, the only time I've ever done it is with Turn A Gundam and Victory Gundam and that's cause the music rocked. Plus in the case of light comedy series it's ten times more fun to go into an episode having absolutely no idea what to expect. That way the jokes are more potent.

its going to be another completely random episode that i cant seem to guess from looking at hte 4coma....but theyre gonna be talking about something.....
Preview of the former episode was random enough. Come on guys, what Miyuki's lesson about the origin of the word "Dreadnought" gonna tell us? Hahah.

didnt you know she was discribing herself? :p (in the most unsexist way ofc )
Bleh...usually I base my predictions on what happened in previous episodes, but they tied off 7 and 8 without anything hanging.
The directors put in this huge Miyuki speech and three girls walking and talking in practically the same way as probably a lighthearted jab at us for even considering a preview in a random comedy series. Something like, "Why the hell are you watching this? We can't be random if we say anything!"

I got lost in the preview, while Miyuki was ranting xD.
Heh jokes about the Imperial Japanese Navy...
If there's a time for jokes about how much of a phallic symbol Long Lance Torpedoes are, here's the time
Perhaps an event concerning a British or American Lucky Star Character through the mention of Naval Battles in their World History Class. Or possibly discussion concerning the origins of their school uniform.
Then again, the mention of Super-Dreadnoughts would probably concern Battleships like the Yamtao and Musashi.
Then again anything goes. I'm thinking too much urgh.

Thank you for the link! Another Konata and Tsukasa centric episode...nothing to say about that.
Kona has my kind of taste in dress...a loose, long jacket and a flat cap. They also seem to give her and Shirashi more dynamic ranges of emotion. Awesome. :)

About the ED this episode, the title is 木枯らしに抱かれて (Kogarashi Ni Dakarete)
The interesting thing is, here is what I assumed to be the original song, out in 1986:

But then here is a newer version, sang by three girls... One of them certainly looked VERY familar.:D

Hmmmmm, with the recent focus on Tsukasa and Konata, does anyone find the show is having a bit of trouble defining it's comedic style. I mean does it know if it's a slice of life show about a zany otaku and her quirky friends, or if it's a show about girls doing cute things. The thing is, moe is cute, but not necessarily funny and I hope they steer things back towards the 4Koma style comedy over the next few episodes as even though I've been receptive of them, my interest is starting to wane a bit (specifially during the third quarter of each episoe where nothing funny ever seems's to happen, and recently even during the first quarter. It's pretty evenly chopped up). I hope there isn't too much focus on Tsukasa doing moe stuff and seeing her reactions this episde as I think there are. Also we're slowly approaching the halfway point of the series and we've seen no sign of any of the subcharacters other than Konata and Kagami's father, Nanako and Yui. I hope they get things rolling with the sub characters and soon otherwise they aren't going to see a lot of screentime.
Also I swear the characters are getting screentime based on who is popular, but thats not possible since these episodes should have been made a while ago. I hope for the best as maybe the episode isn't what it appears to be based on the screencaps after all.
@Vallen: Seeing the cover I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is a Konata themed ending and there is a possibility that we'll be hearing Aya Hirano's voice instead of Konata's again, possibly even ripped straight from that song. I think this is from when she was in that girl band that lasted about a year. Are they trying to Jump Start a reunion by featuring he song here? For some reason I had this really weird idea yesterday (honest) that something was going to happen to blur the line between Aya Hirano and Konata. I had imagined it being her going to an Aya Hirano concert or seeing her on TV, but this isn't that far off.

If anyone's familiar with www.nicovideo.jp (Japanese version of Youtube), the video for episode 9 is already uploaded.
ETA: Moyism posted its raw. I guess the choice now is whether you would like to download or just watch the raw.

From what I can tell people didn't like their music much and they kind of folded, but this was also long before Aya Hirano become ultra-popular. If they are planning to try again there's almost no chance of them failing. What I would find actually funny is if it's not actually Konata doing the song, but one of the other girls. Chances are slim though as she has absolutely dominated the ending scenes because honestly people don't care about Katou Emiri, Aya Endo and Kaori Fukuhara sing, they want to hear their goddess (hell half the listings for the opening only credit the song to Aya Hirano).

The original version is done by Chiharu Matsuyama done in 1980, yet I can't seem to find a video of it on Youtube.
I hope to see some interesting MAD videos using the eye drop scene. :naughty:

Lucky Star is aired in Japan at around 8:00AM Sundays PST (I dunno what the equivalent is in Japan time).
Subs... this is a question that could get you into a bit of trouble if you ask in the wrong places. AFK (the subs that I watch) are as of now the fastest and for the past 2 episodes have released it around Tuesdays (summer vacation?), but before it took like a week. Just because it gets done fast doesn't mean that you should expect them to do it fast.
Right...

As the ED mentions Kyonkyon (the fan abbreviation of Koizumi Kyoko, and 1980s idol singer), the former is the reference.
Alright episode, but not as funny as previous ones. The best part was the all-you-can-eat restaurant. They didn't wanna get charged a leftover fee so they were stuffing themselves.

hi ive just started to watch Lucky Star this week, and am up to date with it. I just wondered what day of the week does each episode come out on? And when are the subtitles done by?....Its first showing of the week is at midnight Sunday nights in Japan (http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_JP.aspx), which would be 3pm Sundays GMT. I checked tokyotosho, and over the past two weeks, the first English subs came out Tuesday 8pm and Wednesday noon, GMT. Chinese subs come out within 24 hours of the broadcast.
I liked Kagami this week. There is a nice freshness in her voice, and the tsuntsun seems gentler, somehow. Konata continues to slay me. And Tsukasa can be as cute as she likes, as far as I'm concerned. For me, this show doesn't have to "decide what it is." It's many things.
I enjoyed the ED. No doubt these little snippets are partly meant to make us buy the CD to hear more. It's working, lol. Aaya was closer to herself as KyonKyon (thanks, kj1980) than to Konata as KyonKyon, but I for one am not complaining. She certainly followed the director's injunction to sing as close to the original version as possible. Thanks for the links to the original and the Springs version. I'm sure no-one involved will complain if this sells a few copies of the Springs version, but I deeply doubt Aaya is going to go back to Springs, where she was the second- or third-featured voice, on most songs I've seen.
I have to wait for a sub to really judge the episode, since I missed too many of the lines the first time through.

Ill just say that on wednesday it might be out subbed then ^^and watch it
it would of been good on a tuesday though since i have like anime days..
well a certain anime episode is released on a certain day :P
Seriously, what movie they went to watch... Is it actually Saw III???
Not sure if that's the one they actually watched (altough that would explain Tsukasa's reaction), but the image in the marquee looks like poster for Saw III:
http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/912/sawiiiposteref2.jpg
Did Kagami told Tsukasa not to drink water, but until the end? If so, that is the well known method to prevent oneself to feel full :heh:.
I'll have to wait for the subs for a better understanding.
Episode 9 screencaps .... lots and lots of Kagami goodness, heck, lots of goodness from the others as well.
Akira makes a blantant Akari of Toheart reference on Tsukasa, and Shiraishi cuts her off with Mikuru song.
This is the second time they make a Tsukasa=Akari joke on the show. :heh:
Also, I cracked up at the infinite 1UP from turtle bouncing on stairs of original Super Mario bros at the preview for next episode.
Even talks about the 129 cap and roll over. Good stuff.

Kagami should have been wearing her birthday present during that scene.
So much of this show revolves around eating. If this is ever broadcast in the US, will it be on Cartoon Network, Fuse.... Or the Food Network?

I remember my cousins boyfriend showing me how to do that. You had to line it up to like the exact pixel though otherwise it would hit you or go right past you. Then your lives status would go from numbers to whatever symbols the game had in its font in the next memory block as a result of limited memory or whatever (the 129 cap as you say). I don't know why it was that number though.

I forgot the Japanese site that actually checked the ROM for this limit, but I recall it was because the programming bit had up to 128 lives as a positive number, but as soon as when it reached 129 and beyond it resets itself to zero and negative number. Hence once you die with above 129 lives, the game thinks that you have zero (or negative lives left) so it is instantaneous GAME OVER.

I'm probably wrong on the specifics, but the game probably used a 8 bits to store lives. Normally, a 8 bits stores values between 0 to 255, but the one in Super Mario Bros. probably used -127 to 128. Once the lives counter reached 128 and the player gains an additional life, the counter "rolls over" and becomes -127.
I liked this episode a bit more after watching it a 2nd time. I love how Kona got OWNED on the "sushi personality" website. The all-you-can-eat desert bar was funny because it showed how damn cheap Kona and Kagami were. (This is one trait they have in common). They were like, "No! We can't pay an extra fee for leftovers!"

I do wonder what drama show Tsukasa was talking about.
Blood type convo was lost to me. But then again, being non-Japanese, I guess it has always has. (I remember playing Growlanser and thought, wtf, my blood type has an effect on my personality?) Same thing with the buffet that charges extra for more leftovers, since the buffets I go to don't really give a damn as they already charge enormous prices already. Same thing also with bargain sales according to which baseball team is in the finals, as I understand each baseball team has a big company sponsor behind it, which really is not seen here in North America, right? Cultural gap, I must say. ^^;
More and more though, it seems Miyuki is like just a friend only in school. I mean, how come she doesn't hang out with the gang after school hours, beach episode notwithstanding? Then again, considering where this comes from, Miyuki is probably off doing ojousama type activities that takes up much of her time after school.
Still, Miyuki = win this time around. Minesweeper was one of my favorite games back then, though I never really finished expert even once since I love beating beginner under 8 seconds over and over again. The eye drop scene, though, was the best part of the ep for me. Miyuki finally oozes her Moe attributes and the scene was just lol hilarious for me, as my imagination of Kona's face is running wild. XD
As for Lucky Channel, still doing good for me. Though I'm kinda confused on how this is the third character they have introduced (was it only Konata before this, right?). Still, Minoru taking Akira's picture was funny, since despite's Akira's efforts to be cute, Minoru still ends up making her look like her angry self. And stiffy shots? *giggle* But you can't forget about...

Favorite Parts of the Episode:
Kagami's vast knowledge on how to manage more food into a full stomach.
Mi-mi-miracle Minorun-run.
Akira's ashtray of death. (looks like she smokes filtered)
I'll give it a 9, because although there was maybe one burst out laughing part of the episode, it kept a grin on my face.
I wasn't as drawn-in this episode, but I enjoyed it.
- At no point did I really feel that the timing was awkward, as I had occasionally before. The streak continues!
- I'm quite familiar with blood-type horoscope-stuffs, but even the concept makes me snooze. That I managed to stay awake for it is something positive, I think.
- You know, I really am irked by people who play solitaire and mindsweeper endlessly. I don't know why. To each their own, right? I silently judge them nonetheless. ...So it was kind of disappointing, if completely predictable, that Miyuki gets into them with such determination. That was aaaaaall made up for, though, by the eyedrop scene. Moe!!
- Lucky Channel was a bit too long, but actually somewhat interesting again. The ashtray, Shiraishi's Gundam reference were great. The photo shoot dialogue was good in that we have something other than angry Akira for comedy! The closing title card dialogue was enjoyable because it captured the "Lucky Channel radio show" feel.

This was an ok episode.
It was a bit funny how Konata's teacher was patroling the MMORPG they played and telling her to not play and get back to studying.
Konata's a ginger dish? Haha! Poor little Konata, that's not even sushi.
The only part that really made me laugh out loud was definitely near the end when Konata was helping Myuki with her eye drops. I laught so hard when she said Konata was making a scary face.
Are cake buffets really popular in Japan or what because this is the first time I heard of them.

Cake shops (tea and cake) were fairly popular little hangouts (think of Starbucks with the emphasis on the pastries rather than the coffee) but I don't know if they had staying power. Some of them went the cosplay cafe route....

i lawled when Kona was putting the eye drops for Miyuki
This episode didn't do much for me due to the cultural gap, but is always good to see the girls.
Miyuki's game experience is both predictable and surprising (my top score for solitaire was around 8000, IIRC)
Poor Tuskasa; she gets praised just because she is Kagami's sister, had to endure Saw III, the buffet, staying up past her bed time,...
Konata's outfit (hat and jacket) looks awfully cute in her.
Is this the first time we get a a real hint at Akira's smoking habit :heh:? I mean, it was speculation and fanart before this one, wasn't it?

The lack of anime references ever since the Intial D skit made this show less interesting for me .

I believe in one of the previous Lucky Channels (the one where they introduced Miyuki) Minoru made a reference to her smoking habits. When Akira said something like "I bet she smokes a pack at a time backstage" Minoru responded "It's fine, she's not like you. (Akira-sama ja nai kara daijoubu desu yo I believe)" Although it's nothing positive, I'd say its a little more than speculation.

But that was only three episodes ago...
Who knows, though? From what I've seen, the only anime references I've seen recently were SHnY, and that's KyoAni work anyway (it's not like they'll sue themselves). You might be right, but let's all hope you're not, or the only anime references we get will be KyoAni or perhaps songs in the EDs.

this series focuses more referances on the japanese culture more than anything...so its not surprising that there is a lack of anime references...
i quite liked this ep...kona getting absolutly owned for one XD haha ginger XD
tsukasa is still moe as ever...her expression when things started to turn ugly (a la watching saw 3 and stuffing herself) was gold :3
but the highlight for me in this ep was kona giving miyuki her eyedrops...i wonder what face she was making
I voted 7 on this episode but was tempted to pick 6.
I can't recall if I broke 10000 points in Solitaire. The last one I wrote down was 7505 in 103 seconds .. but I'm sure that's far from my absolute best. Minesweeper always nagged me at the end with Expert, because I'll always end up with just seven or so tiles to go and logically no way to continue. I would be forced to guess and would somehow always guess wrong.
Loved the Miyuki eyedrop scene. Paricularly the image of pinning her down on a school desk, mm... XD
(And since anime eyes are so big, how could you possibly miss with eyedrops? XP)
Tsukasa falling asleep while studying was just the moe moment of the episode. And the Ayu overalls (I don't care if they're possibly a common outfit in Japan; they scream Ayu to me.) are just lovely. And Kagami rocks with that necktie ensemble every time.
Jabs at Konata are fun fun. I personally don't eat the gari with my sushi; its purpose is to clean your palate between sushi pieces right? But it's just too much of a taste distraction for me.
I agree this was a slower ep than others. Just all school-ish scenes -- nothing that really jumps out (like the Initial D thing or even the athletic festival from ep 8). It was just normal .. but I guess that just means the sequential(?) manga chapters selected for this episode's material were probably just normal stuff, too, right?
Lucky Channel got a lot more time this time around .. but a friend tells me that gives more time for the two to be more dynamic and make for a good segment. I'm just in love with hiding one anime reference with another.
And cake buffets would so go out of business in America. -_- One hour is enough for some people to clean out the whole restaurant...
Trying to figure out why it's 129 lives instead of 128. The eight-bit value 0111 1111 is 127, so adding one more would make 1000 0000, or 128 in unsigned values. This translates to -127 in one's complement .. or -0 in signed notation. Perhaps the lives were stored in a seven-bit value anyway, where 111 1111 would wrap to 000 0000 and should induce a game over the next time you die. But that doesn't explain yet why it's 129 and not 128. Or are people miscounting?
When the game says Mario x 1 and you die, it's game over. Other games have it as Name x 0, and then it's game over, where you have zero lives remaining, rather than you having one life left to live. So when people say 129, they really mean 128 remaining lives not including the present one?

Good episode but not as good as the former episodes.
It was fun to see Konata getting a jab over the sushi bit, having been served a gag over her small height or getting watched over in her MMO by her teacher.
Tsukasa still delivers her harmless charm while Kagami still pull out her "straight man' lines in the Kagamin-Kona dynamic.
What prevent this episode from falling to just average, in my eyes, was Miyuki who finally brings something to the table with the eyegrops gag.
Miyuki and Lucky Channel.
Oh, I gave it a 7.

this series focuses more referances on the japanese culture more than anything...so its not surprising that there is a lack of anime references...
Maybe i set the bars on this series a little too high then , i realised that most of their jokes are based on talking. So i just hoped whatever random humour Lucky Star wants to pull, had better be action based .
For example ... the seashell scene with Tsukasa . That was rofl . ( old episode . not spoiler )
this would be one of my 'morning cartoons' i'd watch before going to school . If i had this subbed on TV at 7:30 AM , i'd get up and watch it every morning because i'd be too sleepy to care what they say lol . That would be awesome .

Whoa, Akira's ashtray sure was a surprise :D
With that voice of hers??? I bet not only does she smoke but she chugs scotch whisky as well :)
Frankly, this ep gets a 10 from me:
I love the "slice of life" stuff, don't need "references" for humor.
I actually enjoyed Lucky*Channel for a change.
I've decided (at least for the anime; the manga seems a bit more balanced) that Kona is like Snoopy ... she's the mascot of the show but not necessarily the center (which appears to be Kagami and Tsukasa).
Of course, that focus may shift as we get new characters involved.
This episode sounds awesome! I cant wait to see it!
i finally get torrents to work on my PC and they go at a whopping.. get this.. 8k/s!!
ho hum, i'll get to see it eventually.. at this rate the stage6 stream will be up before iv finised DLing the torrent.

Other then that was a pretty cultural heavy episode. I got about 90% of it, but that still didnt make all of it terribly funny to me. :heh:

In times of ultra boredom and procrastination, I played Solitaire a lot, and the most I've managed is 6000 points (and that's only "easy-mode"). Miyuki must really be an expert to go to 10000 often. :D
Kona-chan can count herself lucky she has Nanako-sensei keeping an eye on her on the MMORPG so she doesn't neglect her studies. I usually stay miles away from my computer when I'm studying, because the temptation to go online and procrastinate is just too high when it's within my sight.

I too wonder if the sushi-horoscope site is real. I'd sure like to try it out. (Hope I don't end up as "ginger", lol. )
Tsukasa just gets more and more moe every episode, doesn't she? Everytime she broke the fourth wall and faced the camera, my heart melted.
Kona-chan's ahoge probably acts as an antenna to Kagami and Tsukasa's radar, which was why they couldn't spot her with her hat on, even when she's standing next to them. :heh:
(Ahoge entry - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahoge)
No surprise at Kona-chan's old man buying all those games for her, considering he's such a "professional" cameraman last ep.
And I Lol'ed at Kona-chan trying to get the eye-drop into Miyuki's eye.
Lucky Channel's a bit long today, though Minoru's Mi-Mi-Mirakuru Miku-run-run made up for it, as well as Akira's whole tray of cigs.
After 5 eps with the new director, maybe the new director was slightly better in terms of pacing between the "punchlines" of each "sketch", though it's quite subtle.

You can try here. (http://horoscopes.aol.com/astrology/sushi-by-sign-aries-taurus-gemini) Not too informative, but it's the only thing I could find at the moment.

Cake is very filling. It's very hard to eat a lot of cake in a short period of time. It's even harder when the portions are smaller which means that you are eating more than you think you are.
Also, like all buffet things, it would be able to survive at the right price. Like all all-you-can-eat things, the food isn't top rate either. There are variations on the cake buffet in the US.

As linked from syu-ta:

A lot of all-you-can-eat buffets do have cake sections.... people should make themselves sick sometime. ... apparently I'm barbequed eel....
@Kinny: its the "eye-level" problem ... mostly they just see "ahoge" when they scan for Kona...... so if its covered. (and more points to KyoAni for dressing the girls like in the strip).

You'd think so, but hearing most "big & fat" Americans gets pwned by "skinny & prawny" Japanese guys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan's_Hot_Dog_Eating_Contest) in many competitive eating contest (I don't know why this is a sport, ugh) makes me think otherwise.

Actually, that doesn't surprise me at all. My relatives abroad eat WAY more than I do (3 plates of rice compared to my one), and I'm heavier than them by a wide margin. Heck, I have a Chinese friend who eats a lot of food (his food bill is almost always twice mine), and he's still slender. What they had in common? My relatives live and work in a farm (many chores involving labor), and my friend is a DDR maniac (can dance Paranoia at hardest and fastest setting w/out the use of 'side' bars to boot). I really do think that it's just a matter of what you eat and how active one is, as I gotta admit, I gotta excersize more and I eat junk food. ^^;
@Kaoishin's statement
I'd say that's the first I've heard of a concept like that, Japanese dramas or otherwise. Then again, I see more stereotypes in Korean dramas, where 99% of the time it's a love square (main couple, and then one 'rival' for each of the main couple) and around 70% of the time, some terminal illness is involved. ^^;
As for 14-sai no haha, despite being half a drama addict, I never got the urge to see it as the premise does not interest me at all. But looking at the ratings at 18.55% average, that is one helluva popular show as most dramas I know are lucky to break 13%. Heck, it's almost neck in neck with the Nodame Cantabile's live action ratings (18.75% avg IIRC), which was the show that won that season's drama award. Now it makes sense how it actually made it to Lucky Star.

Yea, I know the feeling. I swear Konata's the mirror image of me back when I was a high school student except not as geeky. :heh: When I was a freshman in high school, I would totally procrastinate like the way Konata does, when I hit problems I just can't answer, and just go play console games or MMORPGs. During my junior year, I decided to put my foot down and get serious with homework. I would bike to my local library a mile away just so I can get away from my alluring computer and do some homework.
What is everyone's blood type?
I am of the rarest natural bloodtype in the world, AB-. Apparently AB is the worst bloodtype in Japan.. I did abit of research and apparently some companies tried to split their workers through blood type and no one wanted to work with the AB people.
Lucky Star is starting to not work for me. Thank god Hirano's performance is always tip top. The little show segment in the end is an utter waste of time; I would much prefer more Lucky Star time. It's lost quite abit of its pace and wonder from the first 4 episodes.

Pssst. Just between you and me, I preferred the style and pacing of the old director over the new ones too. It wasn't something you saw everyday, now it kind of is. At this stage Lucky Star doesn't have a ghost of a chance of being a favourite comedy of mine, but it still can be fun for the most part (though I haven't seen this episode which seems to be a low point for some people).
If your thank god is Aya Hirano's perfomance then my thank god is that Lucky Channel only comes at the end so I know when to click the X in the top right of the window. At this rate though each episode only lasts about 16-17 minutes instead of 24 for me, which isn't a lot of content. Ohhhhhh.... how I wish they didn't come up with the Lucky Channel idea. :( If there's one glaring weakness to the show above any other it's Lucky Channel. All others in their general infrequency are easily forgivable.

I'd never watch a show just for a seiyuu... Seeing a name I know might pull me towards a series, but I wouldn't watch a show just for the sake of listening to them.. And I agree I'd rather have more L*S time instead of LC, but I don't find it a complete waste of time - there are some parts I find humorous.

It's all in the quirkiness. "GENTLEMAN! CONFUSE THY.....CAT!"
Like I said though, without Lucky Channel that's two extra minutes of characters time, and since the comedy seems to build strength cumulatively in the 4th quarter (don't ask me why) only to be cut off by Lucky Channel, (which I swear has made me gone "AWWWWWWWWW":frustrated: as if it were my favourite show climaxing only to be interrupted by a Bush speech on more than one occassion) it's absences added kick to the show could hardly be measured. Imagine the episode continuing to build right through to the credits into something overwhelmingly funny, leaving each episode to end on a high note rather than a sour one with Akira's unfunny antics.
@Risaa: Don't consider cutting Lucky Channel as killing Lucky Channels bit, but consider it being converted into something potentially greater.
As for watching a show for Seiyuu, most people wouldn't, but Aya Hirano has become something of a special case (sort of). Though in all honesty I can't picture any people here ever watching Battle B'Daman just to hear her voice:heh:. So even she's a no in the end for the "baitless hook".
As for what I mean by that, A Seiyuu can be a hook, but the hook has to have bait (the shows content) for the fish (the viewers) to follow it all the way up the line (not drop it). As for me only two Seiyuu are hooks and they are Rie Kugimiya and Kappei Yamaguchi. I tend to give shows with them in it more leeway.

I too find seiyuus not to be the sole reason of watching a series. Kaibutsu Oujo (Ayako Kawasumi) and Nagarasete Airantou (Hocchan) are two series whose episodes I'll only watch if I'm very very bored, and only because of the said actresses.
My blood type, I have no idea. Injection I can manage, but I find draining blood to be rather painful. Although technically, can't we determine our bloodtypes if we know our parent's bloodtypes?
As for LS time, I'm actually inverse of Kaoishin... my enjoyment stems the full 24 mins. OP/L*S/L*C/ED/Preview, I watch them all with full satisfaction, unlike 99% of the anime I watch where more often than not, either or both the OP and ED are worth skipping.
While I can understand people not getting Lucky Channel, I still don't understand why people skip over the ED and a lesser extent, the preview. Isn't the ED and preview basically more main content time w/out the animation? Which there really isn't much of a difference most of the time anyways, considering there's next to no action in the animation anyways (80% of the time, its basically walking talking heads). As such, I say that pretty much covers at least half of the L*C time you're going to miss if you do skip L*C, and so I really see no cause for complaint. ^^;
Episode 9 highlights:
- Kagami and Konata burning each other again. Wait...why can't Konata just do her signature cramming?
- More Tsukasa cuteness. This kind of carpet-bombing is getting a bit weird.
- Wait a second...was Kagami trying to reconcile with burning Konata so badly during the blood type conversation?
- They actually reused costumes...I never noticed. LOL at Konata ahoge.
- (Cake scene) I know that one seiyuu did all the extra sounds, but it's still infinitely creepy when a guy voices an old lady...
- (Miyuki eyedrop scene) Hey...I wanna see Konata's scary face!
- Looks like Akira's going on the defensive this episode. Don't give up, Shirashi!
- ASHTRAY THROW!!! LOL Akira picture-taking. Shirashi in a cardigan?! Cross-dressing FTW.
- Kagami's pretty dismissive of Konata's singing. :heh:
- ...wait...is Konata talking about Super Smash Brothers?

I think I'm a Type B (I recall reading it on some medical document of mine), but my personality is more of that described in Type AB by the Japanese. As for why I think giving more to to Lucky Star from Lucky Channel is a good idea, it's because Lucky Channel hasn't shown that it can have any sort of variance from the Akira is Bipolar, Minoru a wimps them, but Lucky Star proper can be anything it wants to be in terms of observational comedy, as long as it tries.
As for my enjoyment, I swear there's a pattern to this:
1st Quarter (Average) 2nd Quarter (Good) 3rd Quarter (Weak) 4th Quarter (Best) Lucky Channel (Worst) Ending (Variable)
- ...wait...is Konata talking about Super Smash Brothers?
Super Mario Bros 1, the first NES game, where in level 3-1 you could do the infinite lives trick, yet if you got greedy and tried to go past 129 lives (as Konata describes) you ended going back to 1 life.
edit:just as people mentioned back in the first page, doh!
I particularly enjoyed tihs chapter since it didn't heavily relied on obscure anime references and instead it did on Japanese culture, so with my intermediate Japanese level and culture knowledge I was able to get most of the jokes. A 9 for the "hey, my Japanese isn't that bad after all" factor :p
I am of the rarest natural bloodtype in the world, AB-. Apparently AB is the worst bloodtype in Japan.. I did abit of research and apparently some companies tried to split their workers through blood type and no one wanted to work with the AB people.
Using bloodtype to take a guess at a person's personality is also common in Korea, so I'm thinking it's an East Asian thing, although I don't know how this plays in Chinese society. For example, it's a common joke within people when they call someone 'you must be B type' when they're stingy and easy to upset. And you can find conversations in both real life and in TV shows where the topic of 'let's guess what blood type you are' and 'which blood types go together' are common. I used to have an opinion that this is all bullshit, how can you judge someone just by their blood types. Over time, I started to realise just how much I can't stand being with Blood A type males. From high school to present day, I had two Blood A types I was fairly close with, and it'd be a miracle if we didn't have one bloody disagreement or a feeling of irritation in a day with each other. Then there was a tv talk show between celebrities one day, where a guy with a blood A type confessed that he loathes working with blood O types so he avoids working with them at all cost. At which point, several other O types agreed in unison and I just loled because it's so true.
And why is it with people's inability to use eye drops properly? That scene is an exact replicate of how I had to 'aid' my brother on eye drops when he had his eye infection. It's an eye drop...why does he have to blink so many times...and let's not talk about his godlike aim that can't land a drop on his eyeball. Maybe it comes with experience, since I used to use it frequently while I had dry eyes during high school years.
Anyhow the show hasn't been that funny or memorable since their trip to the beach (my favourite episode).
The following is based on [a.f.k.]'s fansub.
(Brief) Random Thoughts on Ep09:
---- ----
The sound that Konata makes as she approaches her PC is so nostalgic. :p
.
Konata gets owned by Nanako. In fact, this would be a running theme in this episode. You could titled it "Kagami Strikes Back" if you wanted to. :p
.
What are the words written on the clock in the room that Kagami and Tsukasa are studying in?
.
Are they talking about the platypus in the library?
.
Another whispered barb by Konata at Tsukasa's expense. I want another Tsukasa comeback at this rate. :heh:
.
Kagami owns Konata in the sushi horoscope and the phone conversation.
.
Nice to see the parents play a part again.
.
Kagami's draconian dictatorship at the cake buffet was a treat to watch, even if it traumatised Tsukasa. :heh:
.
Minesweeper expert under 100s?
...
The fastest I ever gotten was 180s. :heh: Ah... the boring days of military life doing guard duty at night. :p
.
Konata got her one and only comeback at Kagami in the conversation about basic groceries.
.
The Miyuki eyedrop scene just felt "wrong" on so many levels. :heh:
Cheers.
Type A myself .... it isn't that I don't *like* Lucky*Channel ... its that I'm just really attached to the main content and I can already see that a lot of the manga just isn't going to make it onscreen. Hence the disappointment when the L*C card intro appears. (I do watch the ED though).

Type O here...
Anyway, beating Expert mode in less than 100 seconds, Miyuki? Teach me your mad Minesweeper skills! (although I once completed Beginner mode in 4 seconds, but that was probably mad luck)
And I loved that scene with Miyuki and the eyedropper. I've had to go through that quite a bit, as I have some eye problems, so I totally sympathize with her there.
And very, very, very much LOL at Konata's next episode preview. Those old-school Super Mario Bros. games sure were something.
Type O (I think)...

With every passing episode, I'm more and more convinced that Konata wouldn't make a bad wife at all.
This episode for example, around 16:00 (the sales talk), shows that Konata worries about and takes care of some of the house chores. Of course, I assume this is because of her being alone with her dad (who doesn't seem to be good at keeping things in order). Her otaku looks can be deceiving.
Oh, and of course, gotta love how Kagami got Konata's intentions all wrong; makes her look cute.

I'm pretty sure I recall beating beginner by clicking the mouse button once. It might have been twice. Anyway as an anime character Miyuki doesn't have to obey the laws of time, space and probability, so she could beat expert in 10 seconds if she wanted too. Lucky her.

Okay, I just got 1 second in three clicks. What I did though was use a custom game with an expert size playing board and 10 mines. The fastest conceivable time appears to be 1 second with those settings.
It is possible to achieve Beginner in 1s, but you will need luck with regards to the random placement of the mines. Kinda like striking lottery. I have yet to achieve it, but I have seen one of my friends do it.

As far as "traditional" housewife goes -- she seems to know how to cook, and probably laundry as well. And between that stuff she could play MMOs! ;) Question is how well would she do with it when it got to 4-5 people to take care of instead of just 2 hehe.

(ok so I retouched it a little...)
As for Minesweeper, the key to finishing those unresolvable last squares is to be a Miyuki and calculate the exact probabilities for each square being a mine, it's surprising how often it works out if you click on the 1/3 or lower squares and avoid the 50/50's. OTOH if you spot an unresolvable 50/50 earlier in the game, just click one of the squares, there's no point in leaving it until the end of the game only to guess wrong and realise you just wasted a load of time. I used to be able to get scores of around 100 seconds in expert mode but I find you have to take chances to get such scores, there simply isn't enough time to work out every move logically.
Interesting bug in Minesweeper: no matter how many mines you pack onto the board (max is 435) you never hit a mine with your first click! This suggests they're not even placed until after you do your first click, since the chance of hitting one is 90% in the worst case custom game. In Win95 there used to be a cheat to show whether the mouse was over a mine or not but more recent versions don't seem to have it, or else the cheatcode has changed (it was the infamous "xyzzy").
Staying with Miyuki, I was surprised she showed any interest in the blood type stuff, I've heard that no-one in Japan with more than half a brain believes those things any more than we would believe newspaper horoscopes over here.

I think the square goes into another colour if you do and the game doesn't count it against you.

It's not a bug, it's to give you a bloody chance in hell of winning. You have no way of knowing anything at all until you've made the first click, so there's no point in it making you lose before you've even had a chance to think about the puzzle.

Yea...
they are on topic though as they happened in the ep :p
the blood type convo didnt really appeal to me though...too predictable and to be able to tell your personality from the blood type is just too random...even worse than the chinese zodiac animals :heh:

Yea...
Since those are important parts of the show's dialog that some people are unfamiliar with and would like explaining ... I'd say they're on-topic.
YMMV on the LC .... I have yet to consider that segment anything other than my least favorite part (even though its was entertaining this episode).
Staying with Miyuki, I was surprised she showed any interest in the blood type stuff, I've heard that no-one in Japan with more than half a brain believes those things any more than we would believe newspaper horoscopes over here.
Mm. But it would be sort of unfair and a sign of modern scientific-mass prejudice to rule out blood-type personality diagnosis or even horoscope. This is not to say that the current descriptions of the various blood-types and horoscopes are completely true - maybe one or two characteristics of the dozens listed for each type may be true. Anyway, I did do my own little research about blood-type and personality, and as usual there're plenty of conflicting reports.
This is not to say that the positive reports are jumbled bs; one's done by Raymond Cattell and he was (since he has now passed) a big figure in the psychology of personality. There is an english fanpage run by a Japanese about bloodtype and personality (http://www010.upp.so-net.ne.jp/abofan/index-e.htm). I checked for Cattell's paper and it is indeed an actual published paper. Cattell's conclusion included "TYPE-AB is more self-sufficient and group-independent (probability < 5 percents). TYPE-A is more anxious than TYPE-O (probability < 1 percent)"
There is also the Mars Effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_effect) for Astrology which is extremely controversial.
This is not to say I actually believe in them, but that there's probably an unjustified bias against the scientific validity of such fields.
My take on the matter is that if you make descriptions *just* broad enough, you'll score enough close hits that people who want to believe are happy.
That's true of *any* personality diagnosis tool like these.
I'd probably be more likely to suspect some correlation between blood and mind simply because you're dealing with something directly affecting the brain rather than rocks in space millions/billions of miles away. But I doubt the tendencies can be pieced out of the thousands of other variables.
Personality elements (pre-wired) are just more likely to come from ancestral inputs :) ... but even those can be over-ridden by experiences.
For the record, my western horoscope (Libra) personality type is about the exact opposite of what I really am, but my Chinese horoscope (Rabbit) is about half-half. Like Vexx said, the descriptions are broad enough to emcompass a lot of people (except in the case of my Libra horoscope, apparently), and even if they don't match perfectly, chances are there will be something that does match.
And hardcore believers will always stretch it a little to justify their beliefs...
I have a hard time believing any horoscope type thing (even blood types) because with any of them, there are few, general catagories that are supposed to apply to billions of gazillions of people.
Seems I'm kinda late to the party but I'll just throw in my thoughts regardless of the ongoing analysis of blood types and minesweeper. :D

Is it just me or does Lucky Channel start half a minute earlier every next episode? :heh: Well, this time it was actually not that bad...not bad enough for me to get the urge to skip it anyway.
And I started having more fun watching this show after I realized that it's no comedy. Ok, for all I know it might be one to some people but not in my case. ^^ It always felt like it at first because of all the "punch-lines". But that's 4-koma. Since I stopped thinking of the punch-lines as such I became able to enjoy the show more, mostly due to it's characters. It's now one of the few new shows that I didn't and won't drop (still haven't had the time to look into some of them though, such as Seirei no Moribito).
I'm actually looking forward to the next episode already.

Does anyone else find it weird how Kagami knocks horoscopes as superstitious after she's into doing the blood type stuff with everyone else?

Well, I'm not defending the broad "cold-reading" sort of phenomenon that we are normally talking about. I'm saying that there might be very particular, selected effects that blood type/horoscope sort of diagnosis might be able to predict relatively well.
As for rocks in space miles away; it's hard to say whether their gravitational input has any sort of effect on the development of one's cognition. There's PLENTY of mechanistic dealings in the world we are still unsure of but are swept under the rug by scientists. For example, there's the finding that children born at the start of the winter period in September have about a 2% higher chance of being schizophrenics. They have no idea why, but there are theories linked to seasonal changes.
Finally, it's sort of layman-psychology to say that personality can be overriden by experiences.. but I don't want to get into it :D

To me, the best part of this espisode is Konata and her new hair style. Especially the scene showed her despression, fed up with cakes ^^
The worst moment is when the Lucky Channel suddenly come out and took the last 1/3 of the show. -_-
It is not that i do not like LC, but when you look at the time bar and thought there still 7 minutes of main show, then the sleeping cat jump in leave you with huge disappointed.
Personally it is more painful when losing than than when not gaining =/
PS: a question 've just appeared in my head: what if Kagami and Kanato move into the same apartment when they finished high school? I surely want to see how both of them react to each other's living style:D

Reasonably funny ep. The buffet sequence and eye-drop joke were seriously funny. Most of the jokes relating to blood-type sorta went over my head, but I'm sorta used to jokes in this show going over my head, since I'm not really the target audience. Even Lucky Channel had a funny joke in this ep, about Tsukasa's (blatantly "borrowed") character design. Although the remainder of Lucky Channel still is getting less and less enjoyable to watch with every ep. There's only so often one can parody the exact same thing and it remain funny.
One of the better eps in this series, but my overall opinion of it is hardly turned around.

I was actually wondering why Kagami took the time to apologize and recant her attacks on Konata all day about horoscopes and not when she said she couldn't recognize Konata without her ahoge. I really feel the pain in Konata when Kagami basically bashed her for being late and irresponsible when she's been standing there, probably wondering why the twins aren't doing anything.

Lucky Channel -- where to begin. I expected to be shocked by the assault with the ashtray, but I'd been told about that.
I had NOT been told about
Akira's "How to use the paparazzi" lesson, which shows that not only is she extremely weird but that she is extremely depraved as well. especially the "photo shoot with Shitatori" discussed after the title falls, which sounds at the very least weird and most likely downright pornographic, making me wonder just what kind of senpai-kohai relationship Akira has with her "assistant" and how deeply abusive it truly is.

With that voice of hers??? I bet not only does she smoke but she chugs scotch whisky as well :)
And, apparently, sleeps around and parties late too. All you need is a police record and you'd have the Japanese Britney spears on your hands. No wonder Akira-chan's career seems to be on a significant downswing.
I can just imagine the final Lucky Channel segmnent being the assistant saying "I'm going to have to handle this myself today -- Akira-chan's finally gone into rehab", doing a masterful piece of work, and then Akira showing up with something very large and spiky just as the curtain falls to sounds best left unimagined.

Akira's "How to use the paparazzi" lesson, which shows that not only is she extremely weird... I thought this Lucky Channel segment was one of the best to date, especially her insight into the life of an idol, which I feel sure is the truth, at least for the successful ones, that they're acting out a role, always posing in case a camera is watching. It has been suggested for instance that Aya Hirano's voice, that we hear her using in real life (interviews etc), may not be her normal voice at all but another act, basically her "idol" voice, intended to portray her as a delightfully cute girl rather than as the chain-smoking drug addict she undoubtedly is in reality ;). Being an idol seems to be about acting a part with the real world as your stage, and I thought Akira put that insight across very well.
As a data point, I would note the shock when I recently discovered the truth about one of the great children's tv presenters of my childhood, John Noakes of the BBC's Blue Peter, namely that his much-loved persona of a slightly bumbling but always willing and cheerful bloke, was in fact an act. He was a professional actor, and (perhaps unlike most of his fellow presenters) he treated his presenting job as simply a part to play, and in real life was not at all the person everyone believed him to be. I suspect most people who watched his charming tv appearances over the years never knew it was all an act. It's striking that he was undoubtedly one of the BBC's most popular TV presenters ever, because he seemed so natural, a regular bloke with human foibles at a time when many presenters were rather stilted and perfectionist, never fluffing their lines or anything -- unlike Noakes, who quite often tripped up over his own words -- and yet it was he and not they who was putting on an act.
I suspect that being a successful idol figure in Japan is the same - you must seem likeable and "only human", but to achieve this probably means putting on a carefully rehearsed act whenever you're in the public eye, just as Akira suggested.

i found this thread while looking for the title of the initial d song some episodes ago...
but hey, am i the only one who saw konata's devilish side come out the eyedrop scene? miyuki trembling on a desk while konata told her to "relax" and forcibly held her DOWN seemed like something out of an ero-ero game ;) my yuri-love was going "MOEEEEE!" another instance of konata wanting to see dating-sims/games acted out in real life situations (i.e. soap + miyuki during the beach)?

Konata holding an eye-dropper and saying, "Relax" has got to be one of the unnerving things I've seen in a long time.
Kagami's cake buffet mastery is astonishing. Just how much practice has she had? She even knows what to cram in if your "stuffed".
Less Lucky Channel, please. Or maybe Kyo-Ani should just get over it and make a Lucky Channel OVA and leave us with pure Lucky*Star for the balance of the series.

Shorty one this time:
At Konata's:
-Scene is built entirely off the wacky sound effects used.
-Konata comes across as a mischevious Keroro Gunsou type in this scene.
At Kagami's:
- A TV program was mentioned and has nothing to do with Kadokawa, it's that 14 year old mother one.
At Konatas:
-Lot's of Unnecessary noises
-Interesting Clothes
-Useless answers from Miyuki
At Kagami's:
-Konata did poorly because she wastes time. Anything else would be turning her into another Haruhiesque Mary Sue. She gut looky last time obviously.
At School:
-The reason both she and Kagami can play games and one does better is because Kagami plays shooters and Konata RPG's according to Kagami.
-HAHA Tsukasa is stupid but Konata's stupider.
-What Blood Type Are You? Kagami's is bang on.
-Miyuki always raises her index finger whenever making a point.
At Konata's (I Think):
-You know you're in the second quarter when.....boring Sushi scene.
-I've just noticed everybody else has purple iris', but Konata's are Green. Obviously she's some sort of alien.
-Konata's eating Pocky so that Aya Hirano can keep mumbling her lines and have an excuse.:p
Walking Home:
-SPLATTER FILM! Also known as get a dating sim flag with your target girl in an eroge by choosing to comfort her jittery ass.
At the Theatre:
-The perfect disguise. They mistook her for a homeless guy.
-Nice thinking Konata. Use your flucuating height powers to score a childs ticket.
-What was that weird ass chattering noise everybody made when exiting the theatre.
At the restaurant:
-Boring montage part for the 3rd quarter.
-Why does every old lady sound like Freeza from Dragon Ball Z in this episode.
-Konata's dead, and thus Kagami proves she's the biggest porker.
Walking To School:
-Every H-Game I've ever played let's you save at the beginning of every phase, or at any ADV part.
-What a great father.:D
At School:
-Miyuki plays Old Man Games. Konata notes correctly that Solitaire and Minsweeper don't qualify.
-Between That Team and That Team eh. Nice copyright dodge, though I think your allowed to mention baseball team names in anime.
-I wouldn't let her help if I were you. *Konata Evil Face* Miyuki: "Your face Scares Me". Konata: *Evil Grin*. Best joke, Fourth Quarter No Surprise.
ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNND Just as the episode is really hitting it's stride....LUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKYYYYYYYY CHAAAAAAANEEEEERUUUUU!
Lucky Channel:
-HOLY MOTHER OF GOD IN HEAVEN! ALREADY! What happened to the episode. Where's the rest of my Lucky Star. And what's with the Kevin Eubanks style music.
-MI MI MIRAKUR MINORUN RUN! How do you like that being screamed at you at the top of the guys lungs. Remember Haruhi, this is funny. Except not really.
-Bad picture there.
-Anyway as much as idols are probably not all smiles and cute clothes in real life, we don't need to know this 9 times in a row.
-Is he trying to say he took pictures of Akira that would give people erections. :p
Ending:
-GAME PENALTY! For Aya Hirano singing her own song in her own voice. No freaking shock there. Blatant favouritism towards Kadokawa and Seiyuu related songs are proven at last in how the songs are sung. That doesn't even sound anything remotely like Konata. Also notice nobody is interrupting this time because its the CD selling single. The character is Konata, thus Konata should be singing the song, plain and simple. So now it gets a Game Penalty for botched voice acting even though I know what he real game is here.
Okay so we are looking at a 9.0 caliber episode, but some problems here. Firstly I wasn't feeling Aya Hirano's mumbly performance as Konata here. Houkoholic said she can be overkill with the extra noises at times. Here it was like an entire episode of it. That's not enough to subtract points for. However, Lucky Channel coming at the 17 minute mark is. Why is it that anytime the episode starts to get really good, Lucky Channel comes in and cuts it off with the same old "Idols are really not who they appear to be joke". That's --0.5, but the kicker is the ending.
So here we have undeniable proof that they are playing favourites here. Let's be honest is that Konata behind the door or Aya Hirano's Springs Music Video playing. Whenever the song is from a non-Kadokawa show they butcher it, but when it's from something like FMP, or if it's done by Aya Hirano as a cover, anything less than a perfect rendition here would annoy the Fanboys, so Konata's out and Aya Hirano is in.
-1.5 for this little bit of blatant favouritism and arguably commercialism on top of botching the character of Konata as an expense in the process. This whole ending shebang really really annoyed me this time around. Wonder how long it takes for Aya Hirano to come out with a single CD for the Springs song. T
Overall we have a Seven Out of Ten. Thanks a lot though for proving my point Kyoto, you are playing favourites and it have nothing to do with singing the song in the spirit of the original. That's just bull, because that would mean a hot-blooded passionate rendition of Chala-Head-Chala, and a soothing version of the original Koizumi Kyoko version of Kogarashi ni Dakarete both sung by Konata, not a screeching rendition of Chala-Head-Chala by Konata because it's Toei and an Aya Hirano delivery of the Springs Cover of Kogarashi ni Dakarete because she happened to be involved with it.

No... Come on now. I just wish I could suggest that the motives behind some of the scenes and portions of the anime might not be purely for the sake of entertainment, but for giving Kadokawa products boosts without people taking it as some sort of personal slight against the production staff. People seem to think it's my intention to cause some sort of scene, but if nobody else wants to mention it, I felt I should raise the question.
2 Times now we have had Aya Hirano's own voice appear instead of Konata's and there has to be a reason for that other than sheer coincidence or the "Spirit of The Opening Thing". The suggestion of Trouble In Paradise, why can't we all just leave it at that and have nice friendly discussion about the topic itself, rather than what others might be thinking when they make there points?
No Flaming and such. Everytime I try to discuss this it decays into flame wars because people think I'm up to something. I am up to something though, and it's that I want to discuss it and hear other ideas. That's really all there is too it.
And the reason I was so strong with the criticism is due to the frequency of these kinds of pushes in the anime, it's becoming very irksome and I've held back a lot until this particular one where the top spilled over and I had to blow the whistle sort of, and bring it to people's attention for potential discussion.
Okay. Shaking of hands everybody?

Well, you *can* suggest that but it is going to be true of *all* anime. In any staff meeting, *someone* in the room will have the job of making sure the anime maximizes the sales potential of merchandise for that property as well as potential cross-advertising for other properties. Its just the nature of the thing. The artists and creators will do their best to entertain... but the marketers will always be lurking around and slipping things in.

I don't really see how he was off topic in any way really, as he was actually discussing the episode, both it's pros and its cons. Really in my mind mentioning that the show/production company seems to be playing favorites is perfectly valid episode discussion, as it greatly effects ones enjoyment of the show.
I also partially suspect that if someone posted a similar dissertation, only praising the show for what he has complained about that there would be no issue and no banning involved, but that's just my paranoia.
Anyway, the episode was about a 6 for me, decent in some ways, massively lacking in others including sub-par voice work, poor planning with the timing, and a boring lucky channel; also, too damn shiney.
I was just pointing that he is putting the blame on the wrong things. Blaming poor realisation (Nanoha Strikers episode 7 left a very bitter taste in my mouth) or a faulty flow of the scenes, poor timing of punchlines or poor build-up: ok. The one about Aya Hirano's performance is debatable, it bothers some, the others are not. But going on accusing the animation studio of showing favoritism toward shows of a given decades, being biased against those of another decades, and accusing the same studio of telling the seiyu to butcher the latter, all of that with the tone of a terminal phase conspiracy theorist: lolwatRUsmokin?.
Let's say, it is like blaming that the newer incarnation of a fighting game sucks not because of the poor technical realisation or lousy gameplay or game balance, but because one character we liked in its previous incarnation is either not here or severely toned down.
There are critics I can accept, there are some that makes me facepalm.
I myself found that some things in this episode didn't flow well, the Lucky Channel bit and Miyuki finally having a funny scene were both the reasons I put this episode as only good and not average or below average.
I hope it clarify my position
I only ever knew of Kogarashi ni Dakarete as a song by The Alfee until I watched this ep. I guess Takamizawa wrote it for Koizumi and only later decided to use it for himself.
