View Full Version : New opening/ending songs.
They suck. I mean they are ok for any regular anime, but compared to the old opening/ending before episode 14, the new ones suck hard. And I really loved both the songs from before, specially the ending. What you guys think?

They arent bad, and will probably grow on you, but they arent a patch on the old OP and ED themes, which is a shame :(
the old ED was one of my favourite endings. It's so cool, in a Kingdom Hearts esque fashion.
You'll get used to L'Arc~en~Ciel.

they aren't that bad to me, although personally i like the old ED better~
I hate the new ED song. O why did they have to change it so soon, that song rocked. I like the old faster upbeat energetic ED theme, the new one just sucks, but somehow I think I'll get used to it, all well. As for the new OP song I think its ok.
old op/end were great so it will be hard to make me forget them !
I don't really l'ar en ciel for the moment, the ending is pretty good (don't match old one),we have to wait a bit to be used to ..
the new ones are not bad, but I realy thought the old opening was impressive. and thier are still scense from the old opening that has not been seen in the series yet.
Kind of like naruto I LOVED the origonal ending, and the newest one is rather disapointing all arround (althoug the origonal opening I did not care at all for).
Are there any series that keep the same OP/ED through the a series over 13 eps?

Well there are 52 episodes planned for Full Metal Alchemist, and since the anime is highly popular, they can do multiple openings and endings.
Gundam Seed also did this, they had like 4 by the end of the serie, I think

Gundam Seed had four openings and three endings. First ending lasted the first half and then the changes in opening and ending got funky.
op 1, invoke, lasted 13 eps.
op 2, moment, also 16 eps.
ed 1, Annani issho datanoni, 26 eps.
op 3, believe, lasted around 11 eps.
ed 2, river, 13 eps
op 4, realize, 10 eps
ed 3, find the way, 11 eps
Back on topic, I found Alex L'Armstrong to be kinda funny in the new opening.

Oh god, go cry a river they have to change it sometime. I love the new opening and the ending is pretty good. Don't complain unless it is japanese rap ...then complain *thinks of beyblade 2 opening and shudders*

The old ones were better, but I still like these as well.
I didn't like the new op theme but the new ending theme is ok.
The 'old' ending theme song was excellent. The opening song was above average. But the current intro and ending songs are mediocre at best. I am disappointed. Very disappointed.
The old ending theme conveyed a very nice 'picture' of the lives of our alchemist friends and the lyrics blended perfectly with what they went through. The new ones just dont do it right.
I like the newer OP better. The ED are about the same.

I definitely like the second opening, especially the updated animations. The showcasing of Mustang and his crew was a nice treat, since they only had a split second of marching in the first opening. The ending music and animations though is difficult for me to get into since the first ending was a great hook. The only thing I didn't like about having a song so upbeat as the ending were on episodes that ended on a sad note. I mean, it just didn't flow when...
Nina died, everyone had a sad mood, then the first couple upbeats of the song came up.
The old ones were much better, but these will have to do until they change them :-/
but then we'll complain they are changing those haha :o

I liked all of the songs in FMA, not to the point that I'm a fanboy or anything. Or maybe I am. Heh.
Well the new OP/ED sorta remind me of Cowboy Bebop... I don't know why but they sound similar IMO.

I love the new opening, since I love L'Arc en Ciel, but as much as I love Porno Graffiti, Laruku > them when it comes to these themes. As for the old ending theme, she sounded just like Yaida Hitomi, but wasn't her so no lose for me. Jrock > Jpop, Pierrot got me watching Getbackers again. Hope more Jrock starts popping out more. BTW, Hyde's solo debut CD was horrible, and I'm glad L'Arc en Ciel didn't follow down their frontman's footsteps.

I dunno, the new OP and ED doesn't work for me (though i do like L'Arc en Ciel) They don't make an impact on me as much as the previous op/ed. But then i'm always hating the op/ed when they change. Next week i'll be humming to the new op.. :p But the current OP for naruto.. boy did i get goosebumps when i first saw that. woo!

I dont think so. They're a very popular Japanese rock band. L'Arc en Ciel I believe is french for "ark in the sky" or "Rainbow"

I don't exactly like the new opening .... I like the energy in it and all but I don't like the tune... just doesn't jive.... i like the ending... quite nice... different from the old ending... but i really liked both old songs a lot... especially the opening... not so full of energy but it was just catchy

Personally, the new Opening has really started go grow on me. The music is a completely different flavor than that of the first one, but the way the animation ties into the track is still amazing.
As for the endings, I'll stand by the first one forever, no matter how good (and it IS decent) the second one is. The reason for this is episode 7, and i'm sure everybody remembers what happened there, right? Anyway, I was just stunned with the little tweaks they made there, to accent the flavor of the episode. (If you don't believe me, watch it again. The clips and the smile at the end are changed) Those little things kinda make me happy.

I dont agree.
The new opening and ending represent the lives they used to lead and the 1 they lead now.
Where the op 1 you them at the point they arived at now. still sadness but they are trying to live hapily.
The ed song shows how they got there I think the new op and ed are verry nice
Hmm... I prefer the 2nd op song more than the 1st one (maybe that's because I'm a fan of JRock)... At first I think it sounds a bit strange but after listening to the full version of it a few times it grows on me. But I love the 1st ed song a lot more than the 2nd one...

I don't know. I kinda like both the new and old endings. The Intro on the other hand, wish they never changed. The song itself isn't bad. I just wish they had a different singer. His voice is, well, not catchy. The first was fast and upbeat. The second fast and upbeat but singer is doing the entire thing to a different rythm. :twitch:
The song could have been done much better. Still it is a great and very addictive series. :)

I preferred the old intro and old ending, although i don't really mind the new op now and i quite like the ending op
u'll all grow used to the new theme songs, there might be a 3rd or 4th op/ed .. just stay tune !!

I dunno; maybe it's just me, but I've never liked many of the op/ed theme songs for most animes. (Except for Song of the Wind in Hunter x Hunter- that one kicked ass.) I loooove the rest of the music in the series, but the op and ed songs always just... suck in my opinion.
However, I absolutely love the new opening theme song. (Yay! I'm One in a Million- heh, maybe that one should be MY theme song... heh heh) While the ending one I don't absolutely adore, but I like it too. Maybe it's jut my style of music? :hmm:
At any rate, I think the beat's catchy in the "Ready Steady Go!", and I really like the rose part in the new opening- Ed's face there is just, well. It makes me laugh every time I see it. :D

For those of us freaks who actually love the new opening here's the MV (http://marcosv.best.vwh.net/anime/ReadySteadyGO!PV.wmv) (is that legal? If not delete pls mods and gomen). Seriously, how can you people not love this song? As much as I like Porno Grafitti, L'arc blows them out of the water.

I'll agree that the old ending is better than the new ending, but the new ending isn't bad. But the new opening totally kills the the old opening. The old opening sucked, hard. The song sounded so bad, it annoyed the hell out of me. The new one is so much better.

I think I can generalise the likes and dislikes by saying that there are two types of listeners here... the ones that like rocky themes, and the ones who like nice tunes and a more catchy feel..... cause it seems like the ppl who like the new op seems to always say... it ROCKS!

i like the new opening. it will likely take time to grow on me but found it on the internet and after listening to it over and over while i get on with my work it really grew on me.
L'Arc~en~Ciel are a pretty good bad, ive heard a few of their other songs threw a few fangirls i know.

someone said that the song grew on them.... i think in my case its the same... somehow when I went back to the old opening and listened to it... I felt that this opening was better.... but then again... i think that the credits that they did and the background animation for both the openings suited each of the songs well... so if we switched the songs... it wouldn't be nice....

The first op sounded dead and awful, I bet it if you put it on slow mo it transmits Zombie language to the dead so they come alive and eat your fucking brains. The first ed had that annoying "darling" at the end of it. However the new op and ed are FLAWLESS. I can't believe anyone said the new op and ed sucked. Roar.

You know, after listening to it a lot, I think I'm actually liking the new opening better than the old. I guess it just had to grow on me. Still undecided about the endings though.

When you own a pair of nice JPL speakers while you are watching the L'Arc's OP theme to Hagaren, make sure you put it down to at least -50db or your neighbors from all four sides (top, below, and two sides next to you) file a complaint and you are forced to give them an "apology gift" worth at least 3000 yen each....
I like all the FMA songs so far. Although I liked the 1st intro more than the new one, the ed songs are pretty much a tie for me. I don't see why so many people hate the new ending song though. I think it fits the anime very well. SquareEnix really isn't holding back on the budget for FMA and I can't wait to see more =D.

The new opening song has definitely grown on me and I like it now. I still don't like the new ending at all though.
The first opening and ending are still the best and are both absolutely amazing songs. The original ending was such an emotional song.. I loved it.

Well comparing songs I would have to Say the Old opening was Bad ass but the new one has L'arc en Ciel which is one of my Favorite Bands of All time. The only thing that turns me off about the new opening are the scenes going on in the background. As for Ending's I liked the first ending better but than again I don't listen to too many endings since they aren't as upbeat usually. But I love L'arc en Ciel's new Opening and they're worthy of filling the old one's shoes ^-^.

I dont mind the change too much, i think the new ones are okay too, but honestly i skip all the intros and extros after i watched them once ....
The 1st ending however, Kesenai Tsumi is truly great, one of the best songs i heard... maybe as good as Tonight / Midnight from E's Otherwise ^_^
Ready Steady Go is possibly the best opening theme I have ever heard. Damn, it's so uplifiting. It inspires me to do great things.

I don't know...am I the only one who likes the 2nd Opening and Ending much more than the 1st ones? Yaaaah, I kinda just skipped through the op/ed after hearing them for a few episode, but I didn't skip any since episode 13. Wow, is my taste in music this off from everyone else's...or did people just need time to get used to them? ^_^;;
