Took a few months break from Anime, and decided to maybe start watching them again. Would like to have some recommendations =)

1. 'Modern' graphics

2. 40 Episodes max

3. Prefered genre: Romance/Drama. Romance MUST be there (preferbly those type whereby it shows the leads developing the relationship. Eg. Suzuka, whereby Suzuka initially does not want to be with Akitsuki, but the romance develops).

4. A plot. I do not want one that's slice of life (I think that's the genre) whereby the episodes have not much effect on the plot. One example is Ah! My Goddess! which does not really have a main plot. Another would be like some episodes of Inuyasha whereby the Group helped some random village etc. No PURE comedy too, whereby each episode has not much effect on the previous etc, only funny. Oh well.

5. Series must be completed.

Animes I have watched
Gundam Seed
Gundam Seed Destiny
Bleach (Pretty boring atm ><)
Naruto (Fillers suck..)
Scrapped Princess
Inuyasha
Rorouni Kenshin
Twelve Kingdoms
Witchhunter Robin
Shaman King
Cowboy Bebop
GTO
Fate/Stay Night
Shakugan no Shana
Ah! My Goddess!
Gunslinger Girl (Like the development, though I wished it HAD a good plot)
Gunparade March
Tsukihime (Didn't like this, kind of confusing and boring =/)
Onegai Teacher
Onegai Twins
AIR TV
The Third - Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo
Zero no Tsukaima
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
REC
Lamune
Tsukuyomi Moon Phase
Midori no Hibi

Thank you =)

Heard of Eureka 7, but it seems a little too Mecha-ish to my liking. Would be great if the Anime would be based in the modern world (:

Erementar Gerad (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2183) - fantasy/adventure/romance
Gift ~Eternal Rainbow~ (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4585) - romance/drama with a weee bit of fantasy.
Sola (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5019) most definitely. Fantasy/romance/drama
If you like Air, you must give Kanon (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4404) a try. - romance/drama/wee bit of fantasy
Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2169) - romance/drama/SciFi
Busou Renkin (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4516) (somewhat similar to Bleach) - acion/bit of romance

Even though you don't like mecha that much i am going to suggest Zegapain (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4178) - it has romance, and it definitely has plot ... if you start watching, remember: everything is not what it seems to be ;)

Skyfall has some excellent suggestions (Kanon 2006 is one of my favorites), but here's a few more:

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora - very short (6 episodes), but a nice romantic drama.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - romance isn't the key focus, but it's still there. Very fun unorthodox series with excellent animation (same group that did AIR TV) and one of my personal favorite casts. 14 episodes in length.

Definitely seconded sola. And another suggestions:

Kanon (2006) (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6431) - Best romance anime (for me)...
Shuffle! (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5375) and Shuffle! Memories (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7059)
School Rumble (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=4114) and School Rumble Nigakki (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6375) - Altough it's mostly comedy, but it's a romance comedy with quite good story...

From your list I think you might like both Saiunkoku Monogatari and Seirei no Moribito (aka Guardian of the Sacred Spirit). Links in my sig. SaiMono's first season is complete; Seirei is about half over (in subs). Both are licensed, though. Subs for season two of SaiMono (still unlicensed) are just starting to be released.

I second The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora, and Eureka Seven. Eureka Seven does have a good amount of mecha, but...the mecha drives the main plot, not the other way around.

Thanks guys. I'll be watching Gift and Sola. Most probably might be getting Erementar Gerad as well.

I forgot to add, that I do not really like Harem shows, so would be great if that genre could be avoided.
