Up on Nico, just started watching it. Aaah, as exciting as usual. Sucks that I'm supposed to be doing homework for my mom... she'll just have to wait :3

Well then, wow. That was a really good episode. Again makes me wish they had directed it like this since the first series. So we have Watanagashi set-up, Ooishi's appearance, Hanyuu's first appearance to!, and a re-do of the basketball match with Kameda and KOOL Keiichi. Along with lots of Rika and Satoko.

I've never had much to say about Rika and Satoko either... This episode was the first to really make me feel bad for them. I think it's just that this series is being done much better, as now it took only one episode to get me attached to the two. They never showed just how much Satoko was looked down on by the towns people, and how her treatment is contrasted with Rika, who's treated like everyone's precious child.

Rika doesn't like that treatment, and it obviously makes Satoko feel a bit uneasy. I'm glad they both have lots of friends who treat them both normally, and it seems like only most of the adults go by this way of treating the two of them.

I'm pretty shocked at how things went with Rika telling Satoko that she's going to be killed. I didn't think she'd even go that far, but then I got so annoyed when she acted like she said nothing in front of the whole gang. But then at the end of the episode she just decided to tell Satoko it's too late and she can't do anything anyways? Guess that's where the title of the episode came from. 本当にもう無力ですか? 何も出来ないのですか? 遅すぎですの?

Rika just really hit me in the heart, this is just so depressing. But I guess there's nothing to be hopeful for until Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi, but that still doesn't change how sad this chapter will probably turn out...

Just finished it. Hanyuu makes her first appearance and Satoko finds out Rika is going to be killed shortly after the Watanagashi festival. She consults the others about Rika's impending doom and they initially don't believe her. Satoko catches Rika talking to Hanyuu again and Rika tells Satoko that there's nothing that can be done to stop her death.Great episode. I love the way Keiichi bribed the pitcher with the Angel Morte tickets. He had some sort of sweets fetish, I guess? Also, Rika falling down a Satoko trap was priceless.

Great episode. I love the way Keiichi bribed the pitcher with the Angel Morte tickets. He had some sort of sweets fetish, I guess? Also, Rika falling down a Satoko trap was priceless.
Yep, Kameda-kun with his dark sexual fetish :heh:
it was from tatarigoroshi, and the way how keiichi said on this episode was priceless, much like the manga, though i felt it was a bit short T-T (legendary K mention :heh:)

The episode starts with keiichi and friends (without satoko and rika), checking the preparations of the festival. Everyone ask keiichi for help, since he is a grown up MAN, but he is quite embarassed.

Ooishi pops up, but in this chapter, the major "hate" of the villagers is much more visible, and Ooishi really sounds much more sarcastic and suspicious towards others.

he then leaves, and the mood is back to normal. cute scene between rika and rena ^^
but rika is still really gloomy at some times.

later on, Satoko and Rika buy some food... unfortunately, people stares coldly at satoko, and the butcher also ignore her. Rika then gets a bit angry, raises her voice, repeating what satoko asked : some meat. The butcher change his tone, but doesn't really look like apologizing to satoko.

Rika has a flashback how the Houjou were treated during the Dam War. basically, every villagers treated the Houjou as Traitors and they should die.
Rika is helpless and powerless, she can't stop the mob. Rika also tried to ask to Mion to stop this, but Mion is unable to fix the problem.

Back to the present, Satoko drops her purse, but no one flinch a movement. The women around start to pickup the coins when rika begins to do so.

At night, satoko is sleeping, while rika is once again under her "black rika mode", staring at the moon.

Next day, the group (minus keiichi) is encountering a Baseball match. But the oppenent are quite strong, especially Kameda, a Pincher of the national championship, Koushien.
Everything seem desperate, Mion get strike out.

Satoko has a plan, and ask help for keiichi, but tricked him.
Irie has hard time to delay the match pause. Satoko is able to interest the reporters with her great speech.
Keiichi is rushing like a madman, but he is wielding a iron club, which create a rather awkward situation :heh:

Keiichi finally take the batter slot, but he is unable to strike back kameda's balls.
Things are ugly, but satoko still think they have their chances, especially with her plan

Keiichi talks with Kameda, and ask him to let them win. of course, he doesn't want to, but keiichi found his weakness about his fetish of desserts.
Things get completely crazy, and Keiichi compare the desserts (cream, fruits etc) with gorgeous and pretty girls, and nail completely the point, Kameda is in wreck, being bursted with his sinful and hentai fetish and wants to die.
Keiichi punches him, telling to not proceed of course. Kameda then laments that he is a pervert... Keiichi confirm he is a pervert. but he makes his big speech and smile, assuring him that MEN ARE PERVERT and there is NOTHING wrong with this, he should be proud and enjoy what he likes.

Then keiichi finishes him off, by showing to kameda 2 desserts fest for the angel mort. Kameda finally accept his condition, completely touched.
Keiichi is delighted, and everything are set. he is counting on Kameda. The later then asks his name. Keiichi answers with his KOOL answer : K
Kameda is completely reverring keiichi :heh:

Everyone cheer keiichi up, except rika who is again depressed and gloomy. Satoko asks her to do so as well. Rika then thinks it is okay and she should enjoy the "fun time" when she still can do...

At night, Satoko and Rika are home, and satoko begins to boats about her plan. Rika cuts herself, and satoko worries a lot about her.
Then satoko believes it is because of her that rika is depressed (because of the afternoon). Rika assures it isn't the case, she shouldn't worry about her and that she just screwed up a bit.

Later on the night, "black rika" says that in the end, nothing change and that fate cannot be undone.
A voice then argue with her, a bit embarassed and sad. Hanyuu on the way with "auauauau" ^^
Rika says that she will die again, like usual. It doesn't please hanyuu, but rika then says that argues what she can do.

Hanyuu is sad about what rika said, and believes that if she can withstand again, there will be a world when things will be right. but rika asks when. Hanyuu answers that she shouldn't give up, but rika then raises her voice, asking what will happen then?
Satoko wakes up, and sees rika alone, saying "i must wait and being killed again?"

Satoko asks who she was talking to. Rika replies they are only both alone, but under her Black Rika mode.
Satoko heard that someone will be killed, but ask who. Rika answers that it will be her, soon after the watanagashi festival. and that there is nothing they can do to prevent this fate.

Satoko suddenly wakes up, it is morning.
Rika is preparing the breakfast. Satoko then asks rika to confirm their discussion at night about her being killed around the festival. Rika assures her that it was only a dream.

Back at school, another game, where Satoko has obviously lay some traps. Keiichi and Rena are judging the situation, but Keiichi believes that the obvious "traps" are in fact decoy, and they should be sure. Keiichi yells that he discovered her pattern and rush at her. However, as soon as keiichi steps on a pile of hay, it is revealed that it is INDEED a trap, a pit trap to be accurate, filled with mud. Everyone laugh at keiichi, but suddenly, rika rush at satoko and fell also in an obvious pit trapp. Everyone are surprised that rika could fell for this kind of trap that only keiichi would.

Later then, satoko talks with everyone except Rika, and talks about what last night and her discussion of rika being killed. Everyone are surprised and wonder how it can be possible, especially that Rika would be protected by anyone, since she is the reincarnation of Oyashiro-sama. Then rika enters in the room and asks what they are doing. Satoko then directly asks her again to confirm what she has heard last night. Again, rika assures her that she didn't say this and this is problably satoko's dream.
Everyone are then relieved, and think that it was satoko's imagination, but she doesn't buy it at all.

Rika is then alone, outside where "old rena was in reunion", once again talking with nanyuu with her black rika mode.
Hanyuu wonders why she doesn't say the truth to satoko, but Rika doesn't want her to be involved, especially she is the target of various horrible things. Rika then says that she is alone and will die, because it is her fate.

At night, satoko wakes up again, and see "black rika" at the window, and think it was definitely not a dream.
Rika tells her that she can't do anything, and that they don't have the time to do anything...

another good episode. i really liked that DEEN really cautiously turn the events slightly from hyper to gloomy.
it is still rather vibrant and fun, but you can tell that impending doom is approaching, like a sinister clock.

The sakuga quality of this episode was superb!

There were many episodic scenes included which were not shown in the previous season, which I believe are a drastic improvement on the part of the anime staff to "undo the misunderstandings" which they thought were unnecessary from the original story.

Yes at first these subtle things such as the ostracization of Satoko from the Hinamizawa community and Kameda's appearance look to be redundant and insignificant. But these portray a vital role in the background of the characters - i.e. without Kameda's scene, one cannot portray K's elegant speeches.

And we finally see a glimpse of Hanyuu (a shadow - but at least we can now hear "au au au" voiced by Hoccha!!). Hopefully she'll make an astral physical appearance by the next episode.

I wonder how many fans of Satoko will arise out of this episode? She was definitely moe in this spectacular episode.

Great epsiode...after ep3 it became harder to see where this arc is going to bring us. Initially it started to follow Tatarigoroshi-hen's footsteps, then with the twist that Satoko cosulting the club members. At that point I thought it would've been interesting if it went along that route, but Rika dismissed that as usual.

I guess it would actually be pretty weird if they went along that line...since there's still Minagoroshi/Matsuribayashi-hen to come

It's also good that they are picked back up some of the great scenes they have left out in season 1, this time with Kameda and some Soul Brother references. Hopefully they will have an epsiode to do the dessert festival so that we can see the "Club memebers vs. Otaku" scene.

haha...the "au au au" did me in XD how very cute :3
so this is where the events begin...satoko finding out more than she should but this is all due to rika's fault if you think about it...its really ilogical to tell someone you love that you are going to die and then the next day to pretend that nothing has happened...its cruel to satoko when everyone thinks she is lying when in actual fact she isnt ~ and being a higurashi noob i can only look forwards to more surprises :)
kenichi and that guy was really weird...cakes...yea :uhoh:

WOW, that was good. The perfect blend between plot development and everyday filler fun. Rika is too damn cool in this episode...

I noticed Satoko is using watakushi/atakushi this season, and in season 1 she used watashi.. is there a particular reason for this ?

Klashikari
2007-07-20, 09:51
Humm, no she also used Watakushi in the season 1, and also in the other media.
IIRC, Satoko is a bit clumsy with the grammar, and also use wrong particle such like "wa" really often.

nothing really special though.

That was so very sneaky and so very awesome how they did that, I didn't even notice it on my first time through the subs. It while I was surfing on /a/ that I saw this and nearly fell out of my chair because of how cool it was, and combined how stupid I felt for not paying more attention. This opens up some many new theories for me to think about now that I know for sure that Hanyuu is invisible to everyone (except Rika I'm guessing, right?). I sort of figured this from the tips but I'm glad that I got it confirmed.

I'm really liking this anime original arc, before Kai even started I though that it was just gonna be some stupid pointless arc to fill space until Deen got to Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi-hen. I'm am very relieved that I've got proven wrong. Like some of you have said, Deen looks like there trying patch up some of the mistakes that they made last season.

I'm so glad that I didn't spoil myself after last season ended, It's making this season so much more enjoyable for me. I really can't wait tell I get some more answers!\

Edit- Guess it is a little hard to see. I replaced the picture with the one on 4chan, you should be able to see it better.

You mean there won't be any "uguu~"'s here now, eh?

Anyways, good episode, but I didn't like the constant switching from fun to impending doom. It felt saturated, slow, and sort of annoying. Though Rika is cute, her ups and downs were the down of this episode.

Anyways, good episode, but I didn't like the constant switching from fun to impending doom. It felt saturated, slow, and sort of annoying.

But I thought that was one of the elements which made the setting of the Higurashi world so unique - that everything could take such a hairpin turn in a matter of seconds. ;)

Wow, this chapter is exceeding my expectation by presenting another great episode.

A breakthrough has been made in this episode when Rika revealed part of her secrets to Satoko, who then told the others. Although it seems that at current point no one else other than Satoko believes her, it will be interesting to see what Satoko would do about it. Would this be a chance to highlight the bond between Satoko and Rika?

Hanyuu makes her first (audio) appearance! :D She sounded too hopeful for me though. In the original game she sees things in a more negative way. It was Rika who was desperately grasping on what small hope she had and fought on.

Even though the focus of the episode was supposed to be the baseball match, strangely I found my favourite scene to be the one when they showed Satoko's treatment by the rest of the Hinamizawa community. That scene really stepped behind the curtains and gave us some insight to the other side of Hinamizawa

yes, this is the girl whom rika is talking to.
there isn't any information that why/how/when etc she is there, and what type of connection she has with Rika.

the only thing was can surely confirm : she does know about the "time reset", is invisible except for rika (so a spirit? ghost?) and has hori yui as a seiyuu :]

she is the purp haired girl with horns, seen in the OP and ED

Yeah a real shock I didn't even know what the point of the picture was at first. But after squinting at the screen you rally could make out that form. Really a surprise to see that, great eye.

No doubt I really felt bad for Rika and Satoko in this episode. You can just see how hard it is on Rika to keep trying even though she's been killed so many times already. It's impossible to know just how she feels like this since it's such a hard thing to be living through. Can't blame the girl for being gloomy a lot since losing all those times would leave quite the sense of hopelessness. Just imagine what would happen if Keiichi hadn't had that breakthrough last season.

Obviously Satoko has it really rough. Besides losing family members, she really gets quite the cold treatment from the village. Quite something with the village's favourite child and the arguably most hated child being together. But you can really see how much she cares about Rika. There was some lighthearted fun though with those traps and that baseball game which was great. Wasn't bad thinking since they were obviously traps. He just overthought about the whole thing.

What's more interesting is Rika not wanting to bring Satoko or the others into this. Of course I don't know what happened all those times so who knows if she's tried already. Satoko has been killed in the past I know, but why is Rika so determined not to talk about this? There are risks to telling her friends, from them distancing from her since they can't believe, maybe that causing them to snap and become a danger themselves.

Quite the episode. Were some times that you couldn't help but smile. But also of course the danger is approaching and you can't help but be worried for all these characters and what will come.

as for season 1, i would hardly think there is anything foreshadowing hanyuu, considering the amount of holes DEEN have done, and Hanyuu wasn't really covered until late game (except rare TIPS so to speak)

For Hanyuu, was anyone besides me was hoping that she would say:

Phew... Let's see.

This was, along with episode 2, really refreshing. After watching the 26 episodes of the first season in a period of 3 days... well, let's just say it's good to have a few episodes dedicated mostly to the everyday Hinamizawa life, along with a bunch of moe Satoko and Rika momments.

And also, getting to hear Hanyuu go "Auuuu" really made my friggen day!

Ehem.

And let me also leave some thoughts about the overall story development on the episode. First of all, it was pretty interesting to see Rika's other side. Yeah, we have seen it a couple of times during the first season, but this time we went deeply into her way of thinking and how she feels about her fate. And it also served to reinforce the belief I had that she has a very strong character behind those huggable"Mi-pah~"s of hers. Rika knows very well the traits of all of her friends, including Keiichi - whom I believe would be the first one she'd turn to help if she decided to do so. But she also knows he would go very far to protect a friend, as seen in Tatarigoroshi-hen, and she probably doesn't want to risk making him wary of everyone else. And I don't know how much she trusts Mion and Shion, but given past experiences I'd say not much. Rena gets very frustrated whenever the topic of Oyashiro-sama is brought up, so by asking for her help, Rika would be taking too much of a liability.

That leaves only Satoko, which, like Rika, can't do much on her own. It's pretty saddening that even though she has done what she can to turn fate around, her lack of both physical strength and influence always get her back to ground 0. Still, it will be really interesting to see how this arc develops. Even though I'm seeing Tatarigoroshi all again, we'll most likely have different paths to the same ending as Rika seems to start having Satoko as a confidant.

Overall, it was a really enjoyable episode - quite sad for both Satoko and Rika, but quite funny for "K" and Satoko's traps. Personally, I'd be pretty happy if the rest of the series stayed that way. But oh well.

really subtle ^^

I thought you guys were seeing things, and I still can't really make it out in those caps, but watching the episode and looking hard, I could see the outline! Wow was that subtle...great catch to whoever first spotted it!

I'm really impressed this time with Deen so far, although I remember I thought their best stuff was on the first arc last time, too, so hopefully they can maintain this level of work for the most part as they get into the more serious parts (which animators tend to get understandably more bored with working on if they aren't gung-ho about the project), since this is really good stuff all around. Come on Deen, we know you can come through! (puts on Ouendan gear and starts cheering)

Anyway, they already win points just for bringing closure to the story...

O_O Wow. I so did not catch that, man that's awesome. *saves the screenshot to show to friend later*

I thought this episode was cute, hyper, and depressing.

Cute - Hanyuuu~ and Keiichi patting Rika on the head to make her feel better.
Hyper - Mion at bat, Kameda and Keiichi (KAYYYYYYY!!!)
Depressing - Satoko and Rika shopping, ;-; Poor Satoko. This makes me want to hug her. Also..wow didn't think Rika would tell Satoko. :o

Can't wait for more~ Auauauauauauauau~

Well just saw the epi and damn i loved that pervert scene:D 100% keichi ownage,i dont have mutch to say cuz everyone here has said everying it can be said but has a rikka fan it was really frustating to see all that sorrow and dispair on rikka side,we have to forgive her selfishness toward satoko cuz shes probably tired of that "death cycle"of june, half of her doesnt want to involve her friends but the other half if just tired of all that and wants someone to talk about the matter and help her to solve it i guess.

As always Hanyuu is super cute the guys who caught her in the backround have some sharp eyes, i thought the quality of the vid was corrupted or something i should have paused. good job to whoever got it. I really wish we had more info about her and Rika's connection. There are so many theories its hard to even keep up with them all.
This episode was a huge change from episode 2 we had half the fun and the other half was well.................we all know what happens.

I didnt think it would happen this fast but im starting to get sad already:(:(:(:(

You know, I'm really kicking myself now that I decided to spoil myself on most of the solutions after the first series ended, thinking at the time that there'd never be a second series. I think what makes Higurashi such an exciting ride is the elaborate mystery, and, unfortunately, knowing a lot of what's going to happen next really spoils it.

Anyway, great episode. Needless to say, it's great that Rika got the focus in this episode and will possibly be getting much of the center stage for the rest of this arc. I really think this ep did an outstanding job of bringing a human side to the character and showing the subtle (but important) hopelessness and inevitability she struggles with.

I reckon the art and animation has improved out-of-sight compared with the first series. Although, it's one of a few things that's seemingly improved over the first series, IMO

Probably not a spoiler for those that have watched the episode...but just in case.

Anyone thinking that Rika will be the one to snap in this arc...or possibly the next one?

Like Keiichi and Rena, she's not trusting/putting her faith in her friends. She's also becoming increasingly pessimistic as the resets go on and on and on, with her suffering a horrific death each time and no apparent way out.

I'm thinking she's going to crack soon -- not sure how it's going to manifest itself, but she will be the one to go nuts.

We can assume this kind of things won't really happen. We don't have the reason why in each arc someone goes mad, however, Rika is kinda "immune" since she knows there are problems, and various elements aren't related to something paranormal and the like. She perfectly know the culprit isn't supernatural, but she doesn't have the ability to fight against.

it isn't like she has distrust for her friends, but more likely she doesn't want them to live more suffering they actually do. Without any remembrance of the past chapters, the chances that they don't get suspicious with her explanations are low.

things are Rika somewhat knows how and "why" they get crazy, and aknowledge several things. thus, paranoia cannot hit her completely, and so Rika won't end in the spiral of madness.
Despite being jaded, chances that she got mad are almost inexistent; except if a major event, different from the 6 arcs occur.

i don't confirm anything, but most likely what we can conclude with the 3 first episodes and the rest

Well regardless of your opinion of who will become the main antagonist and the victim, I think it's safe the assume that the next episode is going to mark the beginning of the sinister events that unfold after the village's festival seeing as that is the usual trademark for turning points that this series has been using in the first season.

I can't say that i agree with your statement since Rika is one of the centerpieces of the puzzle involving the repeating of events in Hinamizawa and as you said, Rika does seem to be caught in that endless cycle of being killed then brought into a new incarnation of Hinamizawa. I'm not trying to say that you're entirely wrong and I'd love to be wrong if they threw in such a twist so here's hoping for the next episode.

<Edit>
also it is known that Rika has been trying to right the wrongs and mistakes of the other characters in an attempt to make a "right" world

Actually I want to see Mion snap. It hasn't been done before, and it's one of the unsolved mystery why she doesn't. Almost everyone in the club has done it (there's a good explaination why Rika doesn't), and the only times we see Mion "change" is sucessor-mode or the only one line in Onikakushi-hen, "I should've never let that old man (Oiishi) live".

And we know from Meakashi-hen that "sucessor-mode" is actually just Shion's point of view, much like Keiichi in Onikakushi-hen

because there is absolutely no indication if hanyuu is completely "free" in her movement and actions, despite being a spirit/ghost.
Further explanations should be given later, but everything cannot be that simple.

Is it official they're using the rest of the season after Yakusamashi-hen for Minagoroshi-hen and Matsuribayashi-hen?

It would be amazing if they ended everything with Saikoroshi-hen! Where two months after the events of Matsurbiyashi-hen. Rika falls into a coma after a car accident, but she wakes up in a totally different world, where none of the tragic events of the main series ever happened: Keiichi isn't in Hinamizawa, Rena's parents didn't divorce, the dam project was resolved smoothly, and neither Satoko nor Rika's parents died. Unfortunately, this perfect world drives Rika insane, and she becomes the villain.

I'm glad they included this arc though, as it's allowing a lot of the subtly telling tips which may not have fit into the official arcs to be animated.

I think that was bought up before we really dont know to what extent Hanyuu can influnence well....anything. It is possible her existence is just that of a watcher of events Hinamizawa. I my self am curious about why only Rika can hear and see her but we are only 3 episodes in so patience will be a virtue. Like Klashikari stated there is nothing stopping them from changing things around. I dont think Rika will be the one to break the cycle from what i have seen her fate/destiny or whatever you want to call it is signed and sealed there is no going aganist it. She said her self there is no way out of it and she will be doomed to die as long as the cosmic reset exists.

Indeed. She would have fixed everything by now if she could.

I'm not sure that's the case. The only time she really appears is at night to talk to Rika, and since Rika's the only one awake at the time, we can't say for certain if anyone else can perceive her presence.

The subjects of friendship and trust have been beaten to death in this story (not necessarily in a bad way), so I think that might have something to do with the ultimate solution. Remember that one variable that hasn't been explored yet is Rika and/or Hanyuu explaining to everyone what's happening.

She said her self there is no way out of it and she will be doomed to die as long as the cosmic reset exists.
That was just Rika being depressed. Cheer up, Rika - you've still got one day left to live :heh:

Actually, we can since satoko is unable to see hanyuu. (satoko saw rika alone, saying she will be killed. it is only later on that she wakes up, and we see that hanyuu erases herself).

up to this point, of course, there isn't any indication if Hanyuu cannot show herself to anyone else to rika. (if she wants), but her default status is clearly "invisible and impossible to hear, except for rika"

Remember that one variable that hasn't been explored yet is Rika and/or Hanyuu explaining to everyone what's happening.
Considering what Rika said in the end of this episode, she already tried, and the results weren't great, if not completely opposite of what it should be.

If she did, we didn't see it, which I doubt would be the case. She did tell Akasaka, but he isn't really in a position to be convinced until it's far too late.

Well, from this point, we can assume Rika has lived much more chapters than we actually saw with the 6 previous one and the current yakusamashi.

Rika explicitely said that if she tells the truth to someone, something will happen to him/her (something so horrible that she doesn't want to think about it).
from this point, it is again a speculation, but there are high chances that Rika actually tried this several times and that the results weren't positive at all.

Anyway, considering the next 2 episodes titles (予定調和 - Prefixed Balance/Harmony & 雛見沢大災害 - Great Hinamizawa Disaster), it appear the "rollercoaster" will soon appear... in a rather brutal way...

While I don't see Rika snapping since she's the one person who has enough information not to fall into something like that. Could see (probably wouldn't be shown since it's not that exciting), a few times where she just doesn't bother. Feeling its really pointless and letting things take their course until she ends up dead.

We'll have to take Rika's word on this. No dbout she's tried the telling everyone what's going on route and apparently with negative consequences. It's a tight rope since telling them could push certain characters over the edge and make things worse. It'd all rely on finding the right people to tell and giving it to them in a way that they would believe her and not go crazy. Never an easy thing.

Just wish I had an answer for what Rika could do in order to stop this from happening over and over again. Other than hoping for some incredible miracle where the others gain memories of terrible things they've done and band together to protect Rika from whoever is responsible for her deaths.

I go off to Otakon and miss a great ep. And it truly was.

I'm not sold on that Hanyuu appearance - thinking it's a 4chan prank. But my copy of the ep is too garbled to tell.

As for the ep itself, it looks like they're filling in things from Putting the Pieces Together AND TIPS, which I kinda liked.

I didn't tear up or anything for Satoko's death in Meakashi-hen - at that time I didn't see her as any worse off than the others. But this episode got me to choke up at the shopping scene. It's so different reading it and then seeing it animated. Nice work Studio DEEN!

It's there, but you need a really good copy of the episode to see it, because the ink lines are very, very thin. It looks like an unpainted animation cel where only the ink lines are faintly visible against the background. Having found it, I still can't make out the full outline in the posted screencaps like I can in the show itself.

Great ep. Though depressing, it is interesting seeing Rika's struggle to find a key to escaping. Only problem with these "answer" chapters is I already have a good idea from the "questions" just what horrors are coming.
It's definitely interesting seeing this all from Rika's POV this time around, shows just how bad things have gotten and how far into despair one can call when struggling to overcome futility. I know it's been said before, but the more I see of this the more I think Rika's stuck in a Groundhog's Day from Hell.

Brace yourselves, people.

The nipa -ness went beyond stratospheric levels that makes my head spinning just thinking about moe lolis.

Satoko's devilness is unleashed and unbound for this arc, as she practically own Keiichi; next thing he would end up licking the dirt of her shoes while she has him chained with a leash like a dog.:heh:

The emo pitcher scared the most with his freaky adoration and worshipping for Keiichi, but Keiichi-kun made a point. What's wrong to have desserts for lunch, since at least your perverted eyes pry on the naive waitresses?
Suffers severe nosebleed hemorrhage recalling Shion on her waitress dress back in Watanagashi-hen

Ok. Now let's leave the kids stuff, and call out the mystery. This time we're witness that Rika trascends the boundaries of the mystery.

To whom the voice, speaking to Rika, belonged to?, could it be related to the series of strange noises that Keiichi, Shion, and Rena heard back in the previous chapters?

It is important what the voice emphasizes to Rika:
She must not ever give up at rolling the dice, because maybe a good world will finally come. However, Rika's not optimistic about the idea, and goosebumps surge all throughout her body as Wataganashi closes in since her unidentified killer will murder again. Henceforth, she'll be forced to go look for another......

I think it's been mentioned at some point in one of these threads that the person Rika is talking to is Hanyuu, who is some sort of spirit, supernatural being, or hell maybe even Oyashiro-sama itself. She's the one with the light purple hair and what appear to be horns in this season's opening.

I think the working theory(or proven?) thing about the footsteps is that they were just an indicator of how crazy the person hearing them was getting. Louder/closer/faster footsteps = more insane.

If anything I said is wrong, someone please set me straight :)
