Preview of 2nd chapter of my Naruto doujin

Well...not sure how many of you know/remember but, I started a Naruto doujin about 3-4 years ago. I released the first chapter and a lot of people liked it/were interested in it. I finished drawing the 2nd chapter long ago. I was working on getting it done but then I won the mascot contest and focused all my energy on Kairin. Recently, my attention was brought back to my manga due to the thread being resurrected in the Naruto forums. So...I began working on it again.

I finished this page today. It's the 2nd page of 16 pages. I liked how it turned out so I wanted to share. :heh: The shading is very rough by my standards but as I mentioned, time is a factor.

Um...if you want some background info on what's happening, I suppose you would have to read chapter 1...which you can get here:

Important: read RIGHT to LEFT just like if it were Japanese.

Here's the preview of chapter 2. Just 1 page (well technically it's 2 pages since it's a double page spread). I would advise not looking at this picture unless you have read chapter 1 already.


Are you sure you read chapter 1 first!? If you didn't you will get spoiled! I'm warning you! :heh:
Also keep in mind these were drawn 2 years ago (almost 3) so...I did my best to touch it up with some shading and such. For example the big "thing" behind the guy in the picture below was re-drawn since the old design really sucked. Anyways, here it is:

As for when chapter 2 will be finished, I can't really say at the moment. I'm working hard on it but unfortunately I have some college assignments that take priority over it. I'm currently on the clean up stage. I basically have to "ink" all the pages and then I have to add shading. Finally I have to add the lines that the characters are saying. Did I mention that I have no help? :heh:

I'm extremely impressed with that first chapter, a thoroughly enjoyable read... but it is painfully obvious that Hiro is a Kakashi-wannabe. His teammate, however, has a delightfully unique and original character design. Kind of weird juxtaposition, IMO.

And Kurenai's eyes kinda creep me out for some reason. They look weird.

Thanks for reading. I'm glad you liked it. I think chapter 2 is even better imo.

The thing about Hiro that I like is that there's more to him that meets the eye. I'll admit, his hair looks like Kakashi...and he wears a mask similar to the way Kakashi does. I guess that's what you get when you design characters in high school. :heh:
You'll have to trust me when I say that Hiro is gonna be pretty cool later on. Whether I'll ever get to that stage is another story but who knows? Maybe one day I will finish all the chapters I have in mind.

And I'm glad you like Yume btw. He seems to be fairly popular with people who have read it. Even my bro likes him. I'd love to tell his side of the story as well someday.

Oh and the Kurenai eye thing was mentioned before as well. In my defense, I was trying to draw it like they were in the manga. It would seem it didn't translate as well as I had hoped. :heh:

Thanks. Just Kiba, Shino and Hinata (maybe Kurenai) have more of a role later. But the main story still revolves around Hiro and Yume.

I am working on chapter 2 as I mentioned so stay tuned for more in the near future. ^_^

Well, they look long because I had to resize the pictures vertically (don't ask why. This was my first attempt at manga so I did weird things :heh:). Chapter 2 won't have that problem though.
