View Full Version : Ah! My Goddess: Fighting Wings (Special), Expectations and Speculation
There was a recent announcement about an Ah! My Goddess TV special to be aired this winter.
an Aa— Megamisama— Tatakau Tsubasa (Ah! My Goddess: Fighting Wings) special will air this winter on the TBS network in Japan to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kousuke Fujishima's original romantic comedy manga. Director Hiroaki Gohda will select story installments that were not animated in the previous television series.
This does not really seem to fit under any of the existing threads, so perhaps a new one is in order?
This thread is to discuss your expectations on the new Aa - Megamisama - Tatakau Tsubasa (Ah! My Goddess: Fighting Wings) Special due to air this Winter and to speculate as to what story elements will be used.

An episode discussion thread (with poll) will be created when the episode actually airs (at this time AnimeSuki will consider it as unlicensed) so please use this thread to discuss your expectations of the announced special.
If they do not progress the Keichii-Belldandy relationship further with this one -- the chances of a 3rd season becomes slimmer. :(

I hope this means that they are going to continue to animate more from the Ah! My Goddess manga. Hopefully, not the boring parts but the relationship between Belldandy and K1.
The name somewhat implies that there is action going on:D. Hope I am not wrong.

The title makes me think about Lind and Angel Eater arc. However, there are rumours that those special episodes will be based on PS2 game story. Both would be nice as long as they don't forget about the characters besides K1 and Bell.

Hmmmm, I don't know what to expect, but if there's Lind, that's absolute pwnage.

I can see them doing the Angel Eater bit for this, but I'm not sure what this means for the prospects a third season. Obviously, it's not a shortage of material that they are dealing with. I wonder if they are just "stalling" for time until they have some indication of whether the manga will be ending or not. I've seen rumors that the 20th anniversary will shed some light on that, but who knows.

Nice development! At least AMG isn't "technically" ending in the anime sense
with this third (stand-alone) installment.

Thing is. Keiichi isn't a wuss -- when it comes to Belldandy. I mean, the fact that it was difficult for him to tell Bell that he loves her... c'mon. That was a major turn off. To many anime series have sissy males who couldn't do that.
You know for more chara build-up,etc.
It's either that -- or deliberate stalling. Match up manga to the anime. Keiichi's considerably behind in development. So far behind, it messes with my patience. :twitch:
hmmm from wat i xpect form the special that wil be released is it'l focus on the angel eater arc....nd by the way....SIDE NOTE: i hope that they won't make the ending of the story where K1 and belldandy wil have to separate....cause it will ruin the good story that they had for nearly 20 yrs.....

Here's my question: is Fujishima still writing this series in Japan? And is it still no forward
progress or momentum? Just more side story to drag it out endlessly?
I'll look forward to any more animated bits but the big problem is that the last I saw,
Keiichi got more action from Bell's sisters than he ever did with Belldandy.
Oh well, I still like the series. But yeah, we need to see Lind. Or something.

He's still writing it, no real progress in the last several chapters. Part of the problem with the manga now is that there is nowhere for Bell and Keiichi to go, except marriage or sleeping together. They're firmly cemented as a couple, have already kissed and live together practically as a married couple. What else is there? Fujishima has essentially hit a brick wall, and knows that breaking through that well essentially means the end of the series, but for some reason would rather just keep dragging this thing out.

To: Js2756,
Well I guess Fujishima wants to keep Bell & Keiichi at 1st base and in college.
Essentially if they both left school and started working in careers, then
marriage, sex, and family is enevitable; not necessarialy in that order!
Just see what happened to the Suzuka manga, the author hit a brick wall,
after breaking the couple up, bringing them back together, breaking up ect...
By the 160th Ch. he made them sleep together and by 167 marriage and
series finnis!
VC
They both have left school and have careers. They are both working for Chihiro at Whirlwind. There really isn't much else now for them to do. Of course, right now Fujishima has basically pulled a semi-reset by having everyone lose their memory, so don't expect any resolution any time soon.
The duo Jyukai 樹海 has once again been selected as the singer for Ah! My Goddess Tatakau Tsubasa (ああっ女神さまっ闘う翼) OP and ED. The single will be on sale on the 28th November. The OP theme is 愛の星 (Star of Love) and the ED theme is ハナムケのメロディー (Farewell Melody).
<収録曲>
1・愛の星(オープニングテーマ)
2・ハナムケのメロディー(エンディングテーマ)
3・帰り道
4・愛の星(Instrumental)
5・ハナムケのメロディー(Instrumental)

Thanks Js2756 for that info.....We'll at least the manga saga continues for
Kei & Bell. Did Hild and Urd ever make-up? Did Skuld ever get Noble-Scarlet back.....
o.k. I guess I'll have to search for the manga to learn anymore....
VC
Did Hild and Urd ever make-up?
No.
Did Skuld ever get Noble-Scarlet back.....
VC
Yes. She recalls Nobel-Scarlet back in the Angel Eater story arc, which many people have conjectured will be the storyline for the Fighting Wings special (based on the title).

Actually, if you check the "Staff & Cast (http://www.tbs.co.jp/megamisama/02staffcast/staffcast.html)" page of the website, they list the character Lind (リンド) is being voiced by the seiyu Miki Itoh (who also did her in the TV series). Looks like your hopes will be granted. ;)
Just a few more weeks before the specials will be aired. Can't wait to see it. Same as you guys, I hoped to see more development between Keiichi and Belldandy but I'm pretty satisfy with the way they are now. Just hope to see them showing their affection for each other again. Anyway, its good to see Lind again. I kind of like her character though

Its only one special isn't it? More would be nice though.

Oh, Peorth is listed too. :eyespin: It's only 1 episode? I hope it will be movie length instead of a half hour...

Yeah, Movie length would be nice. I was kind of expecting ~45 minutes though.

I would certainly love to see a multi-episode mini-series, but so far the very limited information on the show makes it sound like a one-shot deal. If that is indeed the case, I hope it will be at least a 1 hour broadcast (48-50 minutes of actual anime).
I'm actually kind of supprised we have not heard more about the special by now. They are certainly keeping a tight lid on any information.
It 'll be the Rind arc; we'll get to see the twin angels of Rind, monster eater, Belldandy and Blue Lance!
More information here (http://anime-horizon.blogspot.com/2007/11/amg-fighting-winds-information.html) and here (http://nenena.livejournal.com/104766.html)
Looks like the full Rind arc until she went back to heaven, according to afternoon january issue
Thanks for the scans, that looks awesome! Lind looks awesome! :eyespin: Did they change the design for Blue Lance? Because it's been awhile since I read this arc of the manga and I don't remember her being a furball... :twitch:
well, come what may i hope this special episode will lead to season 3. . .:)

AMG has been running for so long by now. At this point in time, many are convinced that K1's just going to march on with Belldandy as they have for the last 2 decades.

Whoa! Thanks for those links. This is looking quite cool and exciting! Lets see, only 9 days until its broadcast? I hope it gets subbed fairly quickly, I really can't wait to see it. :D

The design for Blue Lance is very faithful to the manga. It's just harder to notice in the manga because Bell is covering up most of the bottom hair most of the time.
In the orange scan listed above, here (http://nenena.livejournal.com/104766.html), it does say it indeed has 2 episodes. I think it says will be played back-to-back. Can anyone confirm?

Forgive my ignorance, but I have two quick questions:
1) Who/what is Blue Lance?
and
2) Why does Belldandy look like a demon? (I refer to the red-garbed version of Bell in the prints)

As anticipated, Fighting Wings is based on the story of the Angel eater arc confirmed within the site.

1) Blue Lance is a devil that gets implanted into Belldandy by Hild. It would later get transfered to Welsper.
2) Belldandy looks like a demon because of Blue Lance. Hild is attempting to turn the goddesses into demons by removing their angels and replacing them with devils.

I agree.
Besides, it's progressing very slowly in the manga and we're like at chapter 228 (if I'm not mistaken). If it progresses too much in the anime, there won't be a third season cos it'll be going off track. And there's a lot in the manga that needs to be animated. Urd's exam for example:D
The title seems to hint about Angel Eater's arc. More Hild then!:D

It's at chapter 231 at the moment, while the relationship side of things with Kei and Bell have taken a back seat, Fujishima has been coming up with new arcs, though there really needs to be a killer story arc as it's been lacking recently due to the production of the anime the past couple years
There is still a fair bit of the manga to be animated fortunately so enough for another 2 seasons maybe, depending on how its used
It'll be good to see the Angel Eater arc, even if it looks like Welsper wont make an anime appearance

That's unfair for the cat. He plays a big part in the manga :upset:
So has this been aired yet? Because today is the 8th Dec, apparently the air date of the special.
Since the TV Special is about to air, we no longer need a "Expectations and Speculation" thread. Please post in the Ah! My Goddess: Fighting Wings (TV Special) Discussion (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=59117) thread instead :)
