Based on a shounen(boy's) light novel (light novel series for boys).

Based on a light novel thats serialized in the male oriented light novel magazine The Sneaker (http://comipedia.com/magazine/the_sneaker), and published under the shounen light novel label Sneaker Bunko (http://comipedia.com/light_novel_label/sneaker_bunko).

well i found a "unofficial" answer which kinda makes sence to what happened to mushi-uta 2:

while kadokawa shoten had announced their plans for being a U.S anime-dvd publisher they also send around C&D's for several shows including mushi-uta,yet mushi-uta wasn't announced with the first names of licences.The reason for that was that kadokawa shoten USA had a planning about releasing both novel&dvd as products and asked the entire animation-team of ZEXCS the postpone the production of the second season an thus created a conflict between the 2 companies and since then the project is in the "freezer".

Well that makes sense. The animatiion team has to eat too. Kadokawa is definitely overrating their product's performance in R1 me thinks.

Yeah, I just updated it now... I added the covers that got deleted >_< and added the latest light novels; Mushi-Uta Bug volume 6, 7 and 8. Volume 8 of Mushi-Uta Bug was released in January 2009, and its the latest light novel of the Mushi-Uta Bug short story light novels.

just finished watching this awsome anime which ended kinda openly and was wondering; since season 2 for it seems to be on hold anyone know a site where the light novels have been scanned and translated?? would love to read them and some more out of the series.

@ Terry Bogard: i looked and havent found anywhere or anyone who doesnt want to translate it. Its been suggested at the baka tsuki forums but no one has volunteered to piick it up. . .... sadly.

As long as the novels are ongoing, there will always be hope for a second season. Unless the company goes under.....please don't go under Kadokawa! Don't give up on your dreams.
