Just happened to be going through an old edition of Naruto and found their 1 year anniversary volumn where they did a poll from naruto readers to see who their favorite charecters were. Out of 70,000+ votes, here was the standings and total votes.

For one thing like you said that was the first anniversary poll. All ranks are probably different by now. Rock Lee might be the number 1 at this point.

Well like Dranz and I mentioned, this was a 1st aniversary poll.

If you'd like, I can find the 2nd aniversary poll. and the 3rd as well if it exists. But yeah, Dranz is right. IT's probubly way different by now. :)

There's already the 3rd anniversary pool, I think. And I agree, Lee may be the number one, followed by either Naruto, Shikamaru, Itachi or Hinata.

You've gotta give props to Iruka to be in the top 5 and for having appeared in only like 10 chapters altogether.

Kakashi is still going strong and Sasuke is doing pretty good. I wonder what it'd be like to meet 2 Sasuke fans at one board. I should learn Japanese....

I agree with the Kakashi votes, but the Iruka votes brings a wtf? out of me, I really have no clue where those votes are coming from...oh, and about Rock's rank, it looks like the Rock/Gaara fight happened before the 2nd anniversary? I really don't know but, I expect his rank to be the highest at around that point. Otherwise, everything seems about right, althought I expected Itachi to be ranked higher than that.

What I find funny is Naruto and Kikashi are fighting for the rank of number 1 and depending on who's had the better year is probubly who gets the higher votes. I bet after Naruto does some serious a** whipping here soon he'll be back in number one. One interesting thing to note, Sakura was #5 the first year, then dropped way down the list the second year and only made a small comeback the 3rd year because everyone go so uber p*ssed at most of the people immediately under her. Kinda sad. Although I'm happy to see Hinata jump from 10th to 6th and hold it for 2 years. :D :love:

Which issue are you getting those from?

I remember distinctly different #s on the 3rd anniversary, where it had the favorite characters and jutsu rankings.

In that one I saw, Naruto was #1, and Iruka wasn't top 5. Shikamaru and his jutsu were #4, and Shino wasn't top 20.

You seem to be thinking of the jutsu rankings for the 4th anniversary, where Naruto's Rasengan was indeed 1st with 5128 votes,

Btw the preferred jutsu was in reality the Chidori with 7611 votes because they were shared between the Chidori (3216 votes) and the Raikiri (4395 votes) that are in fact the same jutsu in the manga ^^

Actually the preferred Jutsu is the Rasengan, thats why its in the number 1 spot ^^. I think they had both the Chidori and Raikiri to seperate Kakashi's version and Sasuke's version.

Iruka has NEVER been out of the top 5 as far as I can remember. I like him, but I just don't know how he does it!

My bad. I didn't realize this had been going for 4 years. Though, I should have just done the math 52 * 4 = 208 - whatever specials would have put it at just around 4 years.

Why you pissed at Shikmaru in 4th? That guy is badass. He's so smart, he doesn't evev have to fight...he makes his shadow do it for him. :)

Anyway, hopefully the dude that has the big-ass Kakashi sig, and spelled his name "Hitake Kakashi" will come in here, and realize that if he's going to give props to a character, he should probably at least spell their name right.

Oh yeah, and Shikamaru rules.

That's how I'd rate them! I just went shopping at the local Anime Palace here in town and I can't even find Hinata on any product :frustrated:

Boys are more popular and it drives me nuts well, that's OK actually, but I'm sad with out any Hinata :sad:

Kakashi and Sasuke use exactly the same jutsu each time, people voted for the same technic with 2 different names and thus the Chidori/Raikiri has more of 2500 votes than the Rasengan that's all.

I have to say i've never understood whats so good about hinata. I'm more suprised that Shino hasn't managed to get any higher. I mean, as a character we know nothing about him outside of his fights. He's so mysterious, he's probably my favourite character.

Probably some people didn't even know they were the same technique. And i think either theres a reason for the same technique to be there, or the person that made the poll made a mistake.

I miss your point here, i never said that the Rasengan wasn't the #1 in the poll, I said that the chidori had more votes under different names.

And the reason is very simple, the polls of Shonen Jump are open question, not at multiple-choice.
People who arranged the answers just didn't know that this two names indicated the same jutsu.

Really i don't see why you arg about that :confused:

I'm glad Iruka managed to remain in the top 5 for this long. He's really popular in Japan and as someone mentioned earlier, it's most likely about the yaoi aspect. I come across lots of IrukaxKakashi websites while searching for fanart. I really like Iruka, by the way, but it's definitely not about the yaoi...

It's really not that amazing. In volume 1, he's just there for those couple scenes in class where he complains about how troublesome his assignment is, and getting assigned to Ino's team.

Then up until like year 3 he doesn't do too much. He has his fight with Temari, and becomes less of a slacker and more of a really dependable character. I mean, when I first saw him in the anime, I though he was a jerk, too. Now he's my favorite character.

I think that one of the reasons that there isn't as many votes in the later polls is because Naruto is starting to die off a bit in popularity from when it first came out because some of the hype has worn off. Not saying it's dying by any means. It's just cooling off and settling in for the long haul. The only thing that might kill it off is if all of the big fanboys kill it. IT's happened to other anime. Nothing says Naruto is imune to it either. It would suck if Naruto went that way, but there IS the possibility.

I'm with you!! The top 12 of the latest poll doesn't really surprise me as they do seem to be the most popular in the boards as well. Only character i'm surpised made it in the top 50 is big forehead. :heh: I mean sakura. :)

Howcome Hinata is not on 2nd?! She should've at least been a 2nd at the 3rd and 4th! 1st goes to Naruto, then Jirayia on 3rd, Sasuke on 4th while Kakashi & Iruka should be somewhere around the tens. Iruka's Jutsu should be on 1st though: Counter Hypnotic Love no Jutsu, it's perfect against Sharingan as demonstrated by Kakashi (Kakashi: Iruka-sama!! :love: )

that poll was old. when did it come out? just a year after naruto came out right? then naruto was new at the time so they didnt get to the good parts. kakashi was so cool back then! he dosent do alot anymore its all about naruto naruto naruto!
