As requested, here's the 300 hour guide translated:
The 300 hour guide is actually derived from the 90 hours guide, so I presented here first:
CLANNAD 90 hours walkthrough
90 hours is the official time for finishing the main routes, completing 100% and BGM. But experienced players might be able to do it faster.
<attention>
Do enter Sakagami Tomoyo route after Sagare Misae
<tips>
Ichinose Kotomi route is completely independent from other routes, and can be done anytime you like.
Ibuki Fuko route is independent from other routes as well, but should be completed eariler.
Miyazawa Yukine and Mei Sunohara can be played parallel. On the 20th of April, save on the first choice.
If you choose to 'help', then enter Mei Sunohara route
If not enter Miyazawa Yukine route.
Fujibayashi Ryou/Fujibayashi Kyou route and Kiiragi Kappei route can be played paralle. On the 20th of Apirl, save. On the 28th of Apirl of the twin's route, save also.
4.20
Choose 'help to enter Kiiragi Kappei route
Otherwise enter Fujibayashi Ryou/Fujibayashi Kyou route
4.28
Choose 'I like short hair' to enter Fujibayashi Ryou route
Choose 'I like long hair ' to enter Fujibayashi Kyou route
Koumura Toshio and Furukawa Nagisa's routes can be played in parallel. On the 4th of Apirl, save.
Choose 'pass the ball to me' to enter Furukawa Nagisa route
Otherwise enter Koumura Toshio route
Sagare Misae and Sakagami Tomoyo's routes can be played in parallel. On the 21st of Apirl, save.
Choose 'enter Misae's room' to enter her route.
Otherwise enter Sakagami Tomoyo's route
A total of 8 lights can be collected in the school life section. But one might disappear from making a wish for Fuko
CG/Music Mode will be unlocked after you complete one route for the first time
After Story will be unlocked after getting 8 lights and finishing Nagisa + Fuko's route. If you made a wish for Fuko then it will be unlocked with 7 lights
You only loose lights for once. Repeating the same event will not deduct anymore lights.
TIPS
On the 14th of Apirl, there 7 different speeches you can speak when you choose to record something in Sunohara's tape
On the 15th of Apirl, Sunohara Yuhei has two verisons of songs. This is determined wether you choose to record into his tape or not.
See Appendix for more....
On the beginning there is no choice. Save at the first week when Tomoya lives together with Nagisa
Choose 'reject' to continue After Story
Choose 'help' to enter week 2 of After Story
Save on the day your daughter is born.
<attention>
No choice can will appear here yet
Only when finish week one of After Story and with 13 lights will there be a choice for you. Return to this save when you've fullfilled the requirements
Choose 'don't cry for help' to continue week one of After Story

I don't have a detailed walk through for the after story, but here are the choices given, so I'm translating from another place. However if you use the following walkthrough for After Story you'll have to follow MY play order(Fuko->Koumura->Nagisa) and do all the choices exactly as seen in the detailed Nagisa walkthrough above:
As usual, the '*' marked are the essential ones. The rest you can improvise.
<attention>
Only with 11 lights can you finish week two
Only with 13 lights and through week one you can enter week through 3

Repeating scenes.
Some scenes have various versions to it that you can play it again and find new items! Things include:
There are a total of 7 versions of songs you can record into Sunohara's tape in the beginning of the story! Can you get it all?
There are two versions of songs Sunohara will sing on the 15th. That depends weather you mess up his tape or not.
Complete After Story once and return to Tomoyo route. Sunohara's face will deform at some point when beaten!
In Fuko's route, do various pranks to get the title Fuko Master and eventually Fuko Ninja and you'll have Fuko appearing like a ninja when you reply Tomoyo route

I based on this guide to try Kyou's route..... failed miserably, "a white world" ending
I don't know, but maybe either it's outdated (even when it's pretty popular, cause actually found it's on google) or all of the "ignore" options must be selected (and marked with *)....

Btw just updated that: i replayed the entire Kyou route and got it right now, the actual problem could be the "dash out" in the above guide actually means "call out", not "dash away"
Edit 1: if any1 passed by this thread, pls spoil me about if anything special we get for getting 100% for all routes xD
Edit 2: Does Misae's rout end without any epilogue. That was when....
Tomoya wakes up and talk with Shima?
Hey, does anyone know how important order is? The 300 hour guide says...
The last three (Fuko -> Toshio -> Nagisa) is very important, if you don't follow this order you will miss a few scenes in both the main story and the after story.
I would really prefer doing the stories in a different order, so I have a few questions...
1) What, exactly, will happen if the stories aren't played in that exact order?
2) Do these stories have to be done back to back, or can you do other routes in between them?
3) Is it possible to just load an ending save game (one entitled "Fuko", for example) before a route and have that factor into the order?
Example: Say I have Fuko and Toshio's endings saved. I went and played some other route (Tomoyo's, for example). If I loaded the Fuko save, fastforwarded to the ending, loaded the Toshio save, then fastforwarded to the ending, would it be just like playing Fuko -> Toshio -> Nagisa?
I want to play out of order, but I don't want to miss anything. That's why I want to workaround it somehow. Worst case scenario, I'll just play out of order then go back and do Fuko -> Toshio fast-forwarded before starting on the Nagisa route. Or is that a no go too?
Thanks in advance. Sorry for making things complicated, but being forced to play in a certain order really bugs me. xP

Tomoya wakes up and talk with Shima? To your Edit 1:
100% completion of the 'lights' earns you the True End, as seen in the anime episode 22. Without ALL THE LIGHTS, there's no miracle. You also have to have prayed for Fuuko during Toshio/Nagisa's route (spending one of the lights).
To Edit 2:
You get Misae's light by playing Misae's route and then immediately playing Tomoyo's. If you get Misae's flag but stay on Tomoyo's route (I'll explain this if it's not clear), there's a scene at the end of Tomoyo's route that gives you Misae's light and acts like an epilogue to Misae's Route.

Thanks in advance. Sorry for making things complicated, but being forced to play in a certain order really bugs me. xPHere's what I'm sure of: What you do in those three routes determines certain scenes (whether they appear, who appears in them, etc.) in Nagisa's school days and After Story. Also, you may do Toshio -> Nagisa and 'start' Nagisa on April 4 of Toshio's route (right at the choice that separates the routes).
What I don't know is whether it's dependant on the first time you play these routes or the last time... because I'm paranoid of messing it up, I haven't experimented.
I'm reasonably sure (aka a guide told me) that you can do Fuuko's route at any time, as long as it's before both of the others. I think the main key is that you do Nagisa's last, as it's affected by things done before.

Thanks for the answer. The play order makes a little more sense now.
I suppose I'll test it out, then. I plan on doing Fuko -> Toshio, then skipping to another character before finishing Nagisa's story. If I can follow the guide for Nagisa's route exactly, that should mean I didn't miss any scenes. Worst-case scenario, I'll just have to repeat Fuko and Toshio, doing them back to back with Nagisa's route. I highly doubt that you can permanently mess up your game by doing routes out of order. That would just be silly design-wise.
EDIT: To make a certain scene appear in Tomoyo's route, you supposedly have to have finished Misae's route just before (the guide says "this scene will not appear if your previous route is not Sagare Misae"). I did go with Misae -> Tomoyo, but I just did a fast-forwarded run of Tomoyo when my last route was Kyou. The scene still appeared. Thus, I'm thinking that the requirement is merely completion of Misae's route (not necessarily in the previous run-through).

Sunohara, Misae and Yukine all have their routes in AS. The rest, while being an AS to Nagisa's route and clearly using her... isn't about her. I shall say no more than this: watch it.
Lol.
Nice way of putting it... but yeah, he's right.

And is game worth playing to concentrate on non-Nagisa routes? If you play the game, you might as well play for One-Hundred Percent Completion to get the True End. I have a feeling that you're too stubborn... but...
There are a pair of routes never done justice (or at all) in the anime from the School Days section that would be worth your time, so I'd say yes, even if you never play the Nagisa route (and thus never unlock After Story, never save _____, etc. etc.), it would be worth playing the game...
...but you'd still be missing out. After Story isn't about Nagisa, after all.

Do you absolutely hate Nagisa's guts or just prefer other pairings? Because if the latter, then maybe the second season and the game's AS will raise your opinion of TxN. And if the former, you can always watch up to episode 16 and STOP. :heh:

Why was Tomoyo After Story made? Is it that popular pairing?

Why was Tomoyo After Story made? Is it that popular pairing? From what I understand, Jun Maeda wanted to do it. Key, fresh from the success of CLANNAD, gave the team the opportunity to do pretty much whatever they wanted, and Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life (智代アフター ~It's a Wonderful Life~) was what resulted from that. (Source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomoyo_After:_It%27s_a_Wonderful_Life))
I think it's one of the more popular pairings, yes, but that wasn't why she got an After Story.
Why was Tomoyo After Story made? Is it that popular pairing?
While the popularity of TomoTomo probably had little to do with the fact that Tomoyo had a sequel, the pairing prove popular enough given that the game sold very well.
After its initial success, Tomoyo After is to have three additional all-age editions, which saw releases on the PS2, PSP, and finally a revised PC edition. The latter two were given special treatment where Nakamura would reprise his role as Tomoya.

Well I mean tomoya is pervy bastard, I don't even see why they made the game all ages...
AIR and Kanon were originally made 18+ just to make sure they sold. Once Key's place on the market was established, they released All Ages versions, and didn't bother to make an 18+ version of Clannad. The H-scenes in Kanon seemed extremely out of place to me, were really forced, and didn't really contribute to the actual game.
No, I meant the content of the game was really suggestive and probably not all that fit for the all ages bracket, I mean it's very apparent in Nagisa's route and in Fujibayashi Twins' route is pretty blunt on the adult content.
ps i do agree that that Kanon's ero scenes were quite forced
Heh.

Hey anybody can tell what's the hidden world, the girl, and the robot all about?
I can, but it's gonna be very long. Long story SHORT though:
The girl is Ushio after death. The robot is Tomoya after death. Hidden world is basically where everyon'e happy thoughts go (the lights). Tomoya in the real world can see them whenever he makes anyone really happy. I think Nagisa was where Ushio was because she had a weak body, and more than probably Ushio took her place when she died giving birth. Uhm, if you wanna go into more detail, then the whole storyline needs to be explained lol, but yeah.
You should watch all the episodes from School Life all the way through to After Story, and piece it together.
Can anyone tell me how many chapter of the Tomoyo After Manga there have been and how close they are to the actual Tomoyo After game (and also how far the manga is)
There are only 4 or 5, however I would recommend you to read them at all, since they are an extremely (I would emphasize it more if I could) digested version of the story.

No. The DVD special was the continuation/second half of Tomoyo's route from the visual novel CLANNAD (The parts that couldn't be shown/reconciled with Tomoya ending up with Nagisa). Tomoyo After (the VN) continues after that point, sort of like CLANNAD ~After Story~ continues upon Nagisa's route's completion.

I think one heroine spin off is considered enough or it would be ridiculous if every heroine had her own after story right? Not trying to imply that they don't deserve them, but I highly doubt there will be a Kyou After. Sorry :<
As for an anime adaption, anything is possible. It all depends on whether they believe there is a fan base big enough to provide a good profit and God would I be happy if it's big enough. I mean, look at Phantom of Inferno, the game's more than 9 years old and it already has another series ongoing after all these years.

Hmm that's interesting. I originally thought these "after" series were a "diff route", like you choose nagisa, and you get her and the after story...you go back nad player for tomoyo and get tomoyo after :X.
Guess that's too much in one game. I really do hope that they do animate tomoyo after though...it looks very interesting, and she seems like a great character (and so does kyou...gah i want her so bad too).
Anyway, any word on what Kyoani's next project/adaption is? And what about Key?

Key's currently working on a game called Rewrite. (Has already released Little Busters! in addition to Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life since they did CLANNAD)
And it's becoming clear you didn't get CLANNAD's plot very well (a lot of anime-only people had some trouble with how it worked), so you might be served well by searching through this forum for ending explanations (I lost my links, or I'd send you straight there).

Since this is the Q&A section, i have a question about game save files. When i save my game, where does it go? Which folder is it? Because i want to move this game to my laptop, but i wnat to keep all my saved files together. Is it JUST the "savedata" folder? IS that all i need to copy over?
Also since i installed the game on this computer, can i just move the "KEY" folder onto the laptop? Or do i need the original CD to re-install it on my laptop?
Thanks!
You cannot move the Key folder: I checked the registry on my comp, and CLANNAD makes a registry file. I tried moving my save games as well, and as far as I know all you need is only the savedata folder. However, make sure you patch to the SAME as your previous iteration; it doesn't work if you patch over or under.

What do you mean patch it to the "same" as my previous iteration? Let me put it this way. I just copied my savedata folder. And tomorrow i'll be installing the game onto my laptop. Do i just delete the savedata folder (which should be empty?) on my laptop one, and put in THIS savedata folder that i have saved games in?
I mean if you installed english patch only, then you should english patch the new installation for the savegames to work.
If you installed no patches on your previous installation, then simply moving the savedata folder should work.

Trust me, don't be impatient ;) You'll find out in season 2 (Clannad: After Story.) Both the girl and the robot have a lot to do with the plot, it'll all make sense as the series goes on. You might even find out who the girl is before it's revealed but just watch it, it's part of the fun :heh:

I wasn't sure whether to ask this here or in the Translation Project thread, but I figured this would be more practical. Feel free to move it in case I got that wrong.
I've been trying to patch my Full Voice Clannad game for some time now, and repeatedly getting nothing but "error:" and "unable to format text" in the dialogue box whenever I try to play it. After looking around I did find its supposed solution (as per this thread (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?p=2230447#post2230447)), but none of the methods mentioned worked. The .rar I first downloaded had all the files needed for the translation, including the additional .dlls, but they never did anything to solve the issue. The VC++ redistributable, for some weird reason, appeared to install, despite never displaying any confirmation of such (I executed the .exe and it claimed it was preparing for the extraction; a few seconds afterward it seemed to be done, the window simply closing). I managed to verify that it was indeed installed (or had fooled my system into thinking so) through Windows Install Clean Up, so this particular point might not actually be an issue; I'm just throwing it out there in case.
Long story short, I can't seem to fix what should be a fairly straightforward problem. Is there a way for your system to ignore the presence of VC++ files like this? Or am I missing something? I have tried multiple SEEN.TXT and rlBabel.dll files (though I'm still open to more versions if anyone thinks it might help) and even a couple RealLives. Nothing seems to work.
Before anyone asks: my locale is set to Japanese. The original game text also seems to work just fine.

Q: What's first? The movie or the Clannad series itself? If you're talking release date: Movie, but not as much as I'd originally thought (Movie premiered in September '07, CLANNAD TV started in October of that same year Source: ANN)
If you're talking story, the movie and TV series are alternate retellings.
Sort of like TOEI said, "Here's what happens...more or less. Now we'll let Kyoto tell it better with prettier animation over the next year and a half."
Q: is there an animated Kotomi chapter? or perhaps Yukine?
Nope.
KyoAni could fit every other arc except Fujibayashi Twins and Tomoyo in, mostly because those 2 implied that Tomoya didn't love Nagisa. They otherwise removed all romance between Tomoya and other partner during that partner's arc.

Most of the Kotomi arc from the game is actually in the first season, minus the romance. It pretty much ends the same with her though.
And by the way, the little girl with the robot is just a huge metaphor right?

Q: Are there any theories of the worlds of Kanon and Clannad being connected somehow?
I've realized Nagisa wore the school uniform during her theater performance girls in Kanon wore, only green. There is practically a character in Clannad for every one in Kanon and they all have similar personalities and looks, the only difference being the lives they led. Plus, the parallel universe where the 2nd Ushio was living in alone with the robot Tomoya fits the description of the town in Kanon (well, at least regarding the snow). Was it just me or did comatose Ayu look a lot like Ushio from that other world in Clannad?
So I'm wondering, are those things something like "easter eggs" that have no place in the real storyline or is there really a connection?
It's probably intended, but it's also probably just as a fun thing for fans of Key.
Not so much easter eggs, but just stuff that's put in that fans can recognise.
I haven't watched/played Kanon yet though, so I dunno about the storylines.
I still think Fuuko does a better job at Ayu.

I still think Fuuko does a better job at Ayu.
I disagree. Their characters are different enough, unlike Tomoya/Yuuichi or Sunohara/Kitagawa, and even though I love Fuko I prefer Ayu by far. Her character is more thoroughly developed and she is a wee bit cuter.
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but there are just too many pages for me to browse through. Will Clannad and AS be released in blu-ray?
Prooooooooooooooooooooooooobably not.
It's already released on DVD, sooooooo maybe? If Key or KyoAni keep wanna make money off it.
Mmmm, but nowadays quite a lot of anime series are being released in blu-ray.
Mmmm, but nowadays quite a lot of anime series are being released in blu-ray.
I think they will release this series on Blu-ray. I don't see why not since Clannad is one of the most beautifully drawn and animated series I've seen in a long time. That is one of the strongest aspects of this anime, and I believe it would be a waste to not release it on Blu-ray.

I believe that's exactly what she was, a spirit although she wasn't dead. It's more like Fuko's wishes/desires were so strong that she was somehow able to create a miracle by projecting herself. I think Fuko was only able to sustain that form as long as her physical body remained stable which is why people began to forget about her. The state of Fuko's actual body began to worsen in the the hospital and so her projection became weaker.
Dammit, it's double U! ><
Anyway, also possibility is that she drifted into IW (found a theory that she was the sheep)

Ah! I see, you're theory is actually very plausible now that I think about it. Fuuko (:p) was probably one of the lost sheep that Ushio picked up in the IW.

hi can i ask, why did shima turn into the cat after misae asked him to love her forever and stay her side forever.
or is this the case shima is the owner and his cat turned into human to fulfill his wish to grant misae a wish. and so the shima(cat) turned back into a cat after misae made a wish?

The Shima-kun that we see is actually the cat of original!Shima-kun, only turned into a human for the wish (hence the inability to determine some social constructs properly). I don't think it's confirmed, but I know it's implied that the original Shima-kun has passed away.

ok just finished watching clannad s1 and s2
Nagisa died after giving birth, and whats up with the "rewind" later which nagisa came back to life???
and the very last part when fuuko found ushio sleeping under the tree, whats happening
these are the things i cant understand T_T
mammothb
2009-10-22, 01:50
this is what i think, the rewind thing is because after tomoya and ushio cleared up things with tomoya's father, a light orb flew into him, and it is said that the light orb will make one's wish come true. so in the flash back, tomoya did not regret meeting nagisa, and there was a part where he regret having sent ushio to sanae for 5 years, so he might have wished to relive it and not make the same mistakes.
the last part where at first it was the small girl in the world that ended and she changed into ushio?
i'm just guessing here, at the last part when the robot disintegrated and the small girl died in the snow in the world that ended, she called the robot father, so it means that the small girl is ushio and the robot is tomoya, and the part about fuuko found ushio sleeping under shows that the small girl and the soul in the robot has returned to the real world, the one that is warm and full of people.
the small girl changed into ushio because if you think of it as 2 alternate timeline flowing together(one with nagisa dying after giving birth and the other as alive), fuuko met ushio at age 5, ushio and tomoya died when ushio is age 5, and the world that ended ended(forgive the pun) when ushio is age 5, so when viewing from the timeline where nagisa is still alive after giving birth, the small girl and the robot just arrived into the real world when fuuko found ushio.
also, the girl in the world that ended was found sleeping under the same tree at which akio begged for nagisa's life
eh i hope you can understand because i admit that even i'm a little confusing reading my reply
Rewind = orb wish. He collected ALL those light orbs, you'd think he'd get a wish. XD
Fuuko finding Ushio: see how Ushio was once the girl from the Illusionary World? Ushio = that girl, Tomoya = the robot.
In essence, there are TWO times Tomoya lives through HIS SENIOR YEAR. Ushio actually became the IW girl when she died THE FIRST time, and Tomoya was sent back to his senior high school year. He KNEW the play that Nagisa was performing. Thus, he had been sent back, after living it once.

None so far, although it doesn't hurt to hope! I'd love them to try to expand the Clannad universe, but I get the feeling KyoAni will prefer attempting other things, since there's not that much new material to draw on from Clannad.

No, that's not him. Naoyuki (Tomoya's father) was far too busy trying to raise Tomoya during his younger days. I believe Naoyuki wasn't truly "saved" until Tomoya told him that everything was alright and that he could finally rest.

I actually didn't mean it that way either but even so, I'm pretty sure that is not Naoyuki. I remember that episode quite clearly but that was someone else.
One way I can be pretty sure is that the person was close to Yoshino's age during that time I believe, and Naoyuki is much older than Yoshino. Besides, I don't think something that important would be ignored had that been Naoyuki. That would be a pretty important plot point if you ask me ;)
Nope. If that was, Ibuki sensei is like WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH OLD.
