ep 21
Holy heck those are some moves from Misaki :twitch:
But it was all Kuu's doing, tche
At this rate, I won't be surprised if Momiji turned out to be the golden werewolf because of what she said at the end of the ep and scene where there were clothes scattered around in school at the beginning.
I think I will enjoy this arc quite a bit from the looks of it. Story wise it is definitely a step up from the shiro arc.
Momiji coming back like this was a pleasant surprised and even more so if she turns out to be the werewolf.
Kuu seems to be working with the glasses woman all of a sudden and is even beginning to dress like her. Not that I mind as her new outfit is super hot...and satisfies certain fantasies *cough*
Kou's scene near the start made me laugh my lungs out...hilarous :D
And Misaki shows me one of the cutest growls I've ever heard XD

Yay for the subs :D.I'm pretty sure it was the last preview, but wasn't there supposed to be some godzilla level battle here :heh:? Guess the previews really are off. Still was a pretty eventful episode. Tooru being watched by the Oni since Shiro-chan escaped from them. Seriously guys if she can absorb your energy on contact there is no way you can actually capture her. Not surprised Kuu got angry about the whole thing.
Guess then that Shiro made a stop at the house when Kou picked up her presence. Still that was a pretty nice dream for her. Not destroying the kitchen and making something quite well. Hopefully that cooking event with Noboru works out. Kou blushing and smiling !
Looks like Noboru is slowly building up his own harem. Of course Misaki is always right there and loving her imagination :). Miyabe who I'm guessing is also Gyokuyou with that fox shadow she has in the OP is also getting involved in things. Just loved how it shut down Misaki for a few moments when she asked if Noboru had a girlfriend.
Oh and yay Mubyou for making her appearance again :D.
No clue what to expect from the next episode since I'm distrustful of that preview :heh:. But luckily I can watch it right now :D.Well plenty of information thrown out there. Got a lot of information about Shiro-chan and also the ones chasing after her. Guy that sealed Kuu away eh? Well impressively that's not what she's upset with him about. Though I guess she got some good memories with along the way so it wasn't the worst thing ever. But the fact that they killed Shiro then figured out they had screwed up and then revived her is just sad. Gods really aren't that sharp.
Do wonder about the person behind this. Sending Shiro to Tooru so it would recognize him as the parental figure. Is it something against Tooru or to prevent the red head from becoming the King? Maybe its something else entirely since you can't trust that guy too much.
Really would like an accurate preview at times like this. Tooru and Shiro are pinned down. I doubt they brought that weird thing along if it couldn't do something against Shiro.
Poor Mubyou gets a nice fight scene ruined. At least she got to beat up some grunts. Did she break that ones neck :heh:? Managed to dodge the question about the Reverse Circle, but could be problematic if Kou and Noboru show up with it in their possession.Gotta love watching two episodes in a row.

I must say, given the rampant-ness of fanservice in anime these days (not that that's is a bad thing mind you :p ), I'm quite surprised and impressed that a show like this (where there's clear potential for massive fanbait) can avoid heavy fanservice. I mean seriously, the above scenes had massive potential for panty shots. Heck, you could call that a gravity- and inertia-defying skirt there. :twitch:

That's Wagaya no Oinari-sama quality! :) Has enough confidence in it's story/plot/characters that they don't need to shower the audience with fanservice! *glares at Strike Witches, who can't have a decent (in various meanings) DVD CM*

Well, except the fact the werewolf is pretty much a macho... No matter how cute she was, unless your tastes are in the bizarre zone of macho furry-werewolf=OK, I doubt you'd want her...
And as far as they have shown, her inside (personality) aren't exactly likable either.

Not every werewolf is Liru, unfortunately.
And after seeing those pictures of Misaki, it just confirms why she's my favorite girl. Though Kou is a close second.
i will block out those werewolf images, and remember Momiji as herself(human form).
Gotta say that's some impressive "hypnotism" by Kuu. I'm amazed Misaki isn't sore all over (or in need of a hospital visit, for that matter) after some of the stunts she pulled.
And Kuu's comments at the end about the conditions for that technique requiring someone who treasures Noboru, and is always watching him... if the effect doesn't wear off, I wonder if this upgrades Misaki from comedy-relief-sitting-hopelessly-on-the-sidelines to an actual contender?

Hyahahaha! Momiji's worth=2 episode arc
Spoiler, this week has a Naked Festival
Let's see, how to put it...
Well, first...
The episode was pretty good, as expected, but the end to Momiji's werewolf rampage felt a tad bit anti-climatic. Not bad, but it all stopped with one vaccine...
What is more amusing is that this arc ended so fast. This episode itself started out fast, almost immediately going into the plot...
Not that I mind. As far as arcs go, this one had more interesting characters than Shiro's arc, but it wasn't very impressing.
I mean, so in the end, Momiji is just a fathercon who wants him to look at her for once, and decides to cause havoc using her family's troublesome power to transform...
Character-wise...
Momiji... I wouldn't have minded if Kuu eliminated her. :)
All she has are looks (which is good, I must admit). Her personality has more negative points than positive points... Which, yes, includes causing so much trouble just because she wants her dad to look at her. What a troublesome bloodline. Shoo, shoo! Iranaiyo~
What was funnier is how, she says she planned to use Noboru to get Tooru... Always Tooru, huh. :heh:
But now it seems she really likes Noboru now... The already foreseen love triangle establishes?! Go Misaki~~~ We all love you~
And that's about it for characters, really.
Noboru gets one of his few protagonist moments, Kou's only appearance is knocking Noboru out and trying to pick his ears again, and Misaki's only appearance is at the end when Momiji declares rivalry at her.
Kuu, on the other hand, gets good time appearing in one of those sexy(?) dresses, and then defeats all of the enemies with ease. No challenge. :heh:
And as usual, the animation is done considerably well.
And those werewolf forms really are... bleh... >_>
Though, see, I told you Momiji is human. Just has special powers (like Kou)...
Now then, now then... Momiji arc done. I assume we'll have one comedy chapter, and then the last arc on Gyokuyou?
Preview: :heh::heh::heh: I'll be expecting something good.

Well no surprised that Momiji was the golden werewolf but I expected more of a fight out of her between Kuu than what we got. And if you ask me who she reminded me of, I would have to say santa-ko from this week's KKN.
Momiji is really cute but her character is quite bratty or babish?. Yet she is still better than a lot of other girls out there and I kind of like her. Not as much a Kuu though <3

This series is really underrated for some reasons....
Because the main character is one third male, one third female and one third beast? :heh:
I actually don't mind that through as story-wise, it's a great idea (but as character-wise i would like her to be 100% female) but no wolf-face-human-body pls, looks disturbing.
In all official art work, *she* is in female form, so i guess that how they present her to viewer anyway
Mubyo still end up my favourite character even when she is "selfish" sometime, but if you consider how she is a Japanese "god", those kind of decisions might not be so strange

As expected of Misaki! Second-to-last episode, yet she gets a whole episode! Heroine desu ne~
Excellent! As expected of any episode focused on Misaki!
Plenty of silliness and comedy through the whole thing. Although I kind of question if they should be wasting time with only one episode left, this is a Misaki episode, so all forgiven.
Plot-wise, it was very simple. Misaki thinks she got fat and starts to diet. Episode goes to the end, focused on this, with Kou (who really hasn't got much appearance lately) joining her. Kuu joins too, but only Kou and Misaki are the ones who want to diet.
Though it turns out Kou's "fat" were the various items she carried. :heh: A foreseen ending here.
As always as well, Noboru doesn't realize a thing... (-_-) But there were still plenty of good moments between him and Misaki, so OK.
Fufufufufu, Momiji's appearance time is close to Misaki's sister's, who is a super side character. Fufufufufufufufu, take that.

EP18:
Goddamn, just goddamn ._. I loved Shiro-chan and now she is gone again. Now I only have Mubyou left and its not like she would be appearing in most episodes :3Yeah it was a pretty sad conclusion overall. Death or being sealed for so long that the person you cared about will already be dead? Frankly they are both death sentences to a certain degree. Besides if the Gods have their way she will never be unsealed again though after this latest failure its unlikely to be an eternal rest.
Can understand Tama's anger and why those actions were taken. A sibling being sealed away for such a long period of time would lead to pretty extreme anger. Kuu kinda lucks out losing the bad memories and thus being able to enjoy the times with Miyako and the brothers. But an important thing is for Tama-chan :heh:, to move on and try to not be bound by the past.
Would be nice to get more Mubyou but not high expectations there.
Yeah Shiro-chan is gone, she was cute ;_;
Bleh that conclusion was BS...Would it kill ya to leave her in the story? *grumble*

It's finally over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! What a horrible thing... Curses... Sundays will get lonely without one of the best anime this season...
Well... To be honest, the whole plot with Gyokuyou felt a bit too fast. For a character who seemed important, he only gets half an episode focused on him (not including past appearances), and... it just felt a bit too fast, but I'll just say he's an understanding person and leave it at that.
Regardless, the episode was a wonderful ending episode.
-Almost everyone got appear for one more time
-Still had plenty of laughs
-Misaki gets one final scene to make face distortions
-Momiji still doesn't get much time to herself (geez, that was one fancy outfit...)
-Happy, happy end
-The usual lovable Oinari atmosphere
-Both Gyokuyou and Kuu get to appear in both male and female form
Preview: ...:( No more...
Characters that do not reappear:
-Tsukuyomi (*laugh*)
-Misaki's sister
-The onis
-Shiro (eh...)
-Misaki's friends
9.5/10
I remember my opinion when the anime began. And comparing it to what I think now, the gap is enomous.
Of course, this was more the fact that the first few episodes really weren't that good.
However, as the story continued, it got better and better, and in no time (partially thanks to Misaki), this became my favorite anime of the season. In fact, I consider it one of the best.
-Atmosphere is enjoyable. Never gets too heavy, yet few mood-killers (*glares with hatred at D.Gray-man*).
-Almost all characters are likable. The few I don't like all appear in the Shiro arc...
Misaki=Love; And it makes me happy to see that she is very loved by viewers.
I remember not liking the Takagami household characters when the anime first began, but I like them to a good degree now. Even Kuu.
-Animation... Little slacking-off, and the battles are usually well animated. From my memories, then ones that stood out the most was Kou vs. Demon, and Misaki vs. Wolf. And to top it, lots of the characters in this anime look good.
-Plot; the storytelling is well done too, for the most part.
The music wasn't all that impressive. The EDs are in the lower average area, but the OP is nice. Still listening to the full version on my MP3.
9.5 and not 10, because of the first few episodes and few parts of the anime I had problems with.
2nd Season!! Someone get a 2nd Season!! Requesting 2nd Season!! GO!GO!GO!GO!GO!

also , any words on a soundtrack or ending 2 ? I've been on the website , but they only list the 1st opening and endings. =/
The soundtrack was released last month, and the second ED will be covered on the Character Song CD that's being released early next month.
(Though there's no Misaki song on the Character Song CD, so a small boo to Columbia. Otherwise, though, I'm cool with it.)

ep 24 - end
Suddenly, I have this urge to kill Noboru watching all these girls popping out to greet him. He built up quite a harem, but it was a shame that he is emotionally retarded himself :heh:
Aww damn...it is always sad to say goodbye to one of your favorite animes and I do think this episode should have been streched for a few more episodes as it was just too fast. Kuu came back from her cave too fast and even Gyokuyou was quick to change his/her mind.
But I loved every minute of this ep but it is just a shame that we never got to know more about Gyokuyou (and see her female form more, cuteee~).
Misaki's funny faces in this ep were pushed to the limit XD
I don't know what else to say for this ep, it was very stable and with good pacing, yet touches on the emotions just right. So I guess I will follow suit and have a mini summary of the series like Serenade.
Final thoughts kana?
Rating for the characters:10/10
Rating for the story: 7.5-8/10
As much as I love the characters here I just feel that the story as a whole was a bit disappointing. This was because I just don't know where the initial plot disappeared too and pretty soon it was all a random mash of arcs. The initial plot being to protect Noboru and Tooru from evil spirits who are targeting them but after the attack from the snake woman we never got anything else on the matter and it didn't leave a good impression on me that they just decided to skip it. Sure they did get attacked a few times but the purpose of them weren't related to the power of the water family or whatnot.
As for the random story mashing I wasn't that bothered in fact I enjoyed most of it due to the fact that this series is just amazing at creating an atmospheric mood where you really can't hate it for anything. The only arc that I disliked was shiro's because it was too drawn out and just got quite boring. I would have preferred if an ep or two from that was taken and put into developing Gyokuyou instead.
I wasn't watching this series for the action so the lack of didn't bothered me. There are really a lot of plus points too appart from the storytelling nag but that is just me being in a critical sort of mood.
This is a lighthearted, enjoyable and lovable series where you get attached to the characters (and boy are they a lot of them) which just leaves you calling out for more. The story is only the weakness of this series but compared to the rest, the feelings and emotions expressed through most eps, that is a minor thing to consider. The chances of a second season is more of a 50:50 for me...but I damn hope that we get one.
:)

lighthearted/heartwarming series finally comes to an end...
really great character set
individual story arcs were sufficient
overall story was...lacking
If you don't mind following the day to day lives of a family with 2 girls that have a lack of common sense, then i can't recommend this series enough. Great comedic antics, minimal disagreable characters, in the end atleast, and really well matched voice acting. Going to miss this cast a lot :(

Haha. Since I'm waiting (patiently) for the final 6 subs of this series to come out, it doesn't feel like the end at all. RAWs don't count as the real thing to me ;D

Ahh~ it's ended already ;_;.
I really enjoyed this show throughout it's run. And I was hoping for more Gyokuyou too.
Well, I guess we'll have to wait for the second season, if it comes.
Oh, I made a nice picture of Kou, Kuu and Tama in their kimono, enjoy.

The soundtrack was released last month, and the second ED will be covered on the Character Song CD that's being released early next month.
(Though there's no Misaki song on the Character Song CD, so a small boo to Columbia. Otherwise, though, I'm cool with it.)
It was ? blargh ! uncle google is failing me !
thanks for the info .
Well... Deathkillz review pretty much hit every note i was going to hit so I'll simply say if you want my review - just read Deathkillz post above me.
I don't really need a second season though I enjoyed the "small moments" throughout the series. They could have skipped the battle-of-the-week syndrome entirely and I'd have been fine. Just watching the kitsune and sidekick deal with modern life was enough fun.

I hope we at least get some fun DVD extras to do with those wonderful moments in the show.

Episode 19 was an entertaining episode even though it did nothing to advance any kind of plot. Sakura actually looked pretty good in her witch costume plus it was cute seeing her blush while she was chatting with Noob. Speaking of cute it was quite funny seeing how all the little girls were attracted to Noob, it must be the Dracula outfit for sure.
Wow, the producers must of ran out of ideas or totally slacked off on creating episode 20. It was a bad episode, imo, and it wasn't entertaining to watch. I just skipped around the video and didn't really watch it through.
Now episode 21 was pretty interesting since it starts a new plot. Of all the demons/specters/monsters we seen so far, all of them looked rather dorky when they were reverted back to their original form. Now this new monsters is no joke. It looked mean, tough and butt ugly and not to mention that golden body thing has got to go. It's too shaggidelic (sp?).
Seeing Sakura kick Werewolf butt was quite a sight. I thought Kuu possesed her but it was just a spell. I'm impressed how well Sakura went toe to toe with a Werewolf even if she couldn't beat the thing
Oh yea, I really like the new ending scenes. The song is ok but the tiny trio dancing at adorable.

Man... ep21 at Misaki scene can only be appreciated at slow motion!
I dunno, Kuu did look very nice in that black dress.

This is a person who speaks the truth.
The 2nd ED is excellent, but I'm really confused as to why they would release it after the anime finished airing.
Seems like they're shooting themselves in their own feet.

Why are you confused? It happens quite a lot, along with soundtrack releases.
We need more GAR Sakura damnit...I honestly fell in love when she started kicking werewolf ass their like noones business.
Momaji's nice when she isnt running around as a muscle bound freak *shivers*, but I hope Misaki utterly defeats her honestly... :p

Man watching 5 episodes or so in a row is pretty busy :heh:.
Kind of funny when you think the series is finished already. Seems this stretch has been working on Noboru's harem level :heh:. I'm not sure why it is, but even the little girls trick or treating were into him. Of course has Sakura and adding to it Momiji with the latest episodes. Of course none of that will matter once Kou kills him by stabbing his brain while attempting to clean his ears :heh:.Surprised she found that necessary after knocking him out earlier in episode 22.
Still think Noboru did fairly well handling things. For once dropped the pretending he wasn't the head and just walking away thing. Even though it was a risky situation he went in there and tried to settle things. Haven't liked some of the things he's done along the way but did good in this one.
Nice challenged as well with Momiji and Sakura. Think Momiji would turn into a better character after we dealt with the last couple episodes. Though there really isn't much time to delve into character growth for her. Likely will suffer the fate of Mubyou and be around but not prominent in the last couple episodes. Might lean a bit toward Momiji in terms of the character I like, but both are fine. Sakura is a ton of fun with that imagination. Also got a nice moment with the hypnosis combat that Kuu put on her. Long as she isn't in buff wolf mode I'm fine with Momiji as well :heh:. A lot of it is the voice, but can see good sides overall to her.Might be easier to talk about a lot of episodes in some spread out tags. A Sakura centred episode is pretty fun in the end. All the diet chaos that ensued from that. So much going on around Noboru. Of course the guy has little clue about things going on. But at least he isn't a bad person.
Agree that was a pretty darn loud stomach noise. Goes to show you shouldn't push a diet to the extremes. Kou having the high weight due to carrying all that stuff....:heh:. That really is just like Kou.No way the preview for episode 24 is that accurate. Just not seeing Noboru getting run through with a sword any time soon :heh:.

Since they changed the ED I am watching it EVERY time just because of that silver haired fox, she is pure love <333
I am still a bit disappointed that Momiji-san is not her/him, still a golden wolf is nice. Still dont understand why though being a wolf its walking on two legs lol. Glad we got some Kuu/Momiji action, I almost killed that damn Noboru when he tried to interrupt >< The end was poorly done ;_; With Miss unlikeable err Bekira I mean.
On another hand, I saw EP23 today (lots of Sakura fun) and then checked the series length and was like WHAT?!?! only one more episode to go wtf. Didnt get any more Mubyou (<3) and only a very short time of silver haired fox ;_; This needs a 2nd series or at least an OVA since both of my favourite characters were shafted badly :( Though I will reserve judgement until I see subs of the last episode.

All hail episode 24 subs.
24 wasn't a bad episode to end the series with. Took care of the issue remaining with Tama and had a nice reunion and New Years meal. Nice at least to see Mubyou again. Been weeks since I saw her. Got to love the Noboru harem assembling at the end. The guy is completely clueless that's for sure. Though maybe the easiest way to handle a harem is to not know its there. I think his friends are right that him noticing anything is pretty unlikely to happen in the new year.
Was fitting to take things back to the beginning and get Kuu to come home. In the end its all about the food :heh:. Regardless of the dangers that end up coming, long as they stick together it will turn out fine. Nice that Tama got past the anger and should stop causing problems for the family in the future.
Overall this was a pretty fun series. Sure it just felt like some random arcs at times, but the characters were good enough to make that fine. Some of the best moments was when it didn't get very serious and they just had fun with the characters. Hard to beat a drunken Kou chasing after her dragon :D. Too bad the series is over, but was fun to watch.

This last episode wasn't bad or good, but it was a nice way to end the anime. When I first saw this anime I wasn't expecting much, however it turned out to be enjoyable. This anime had that Monster Princess (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7420) feel to it except a bit more light hearted.
Overall, I enjoyed seeing how Kuu tried to merge into human society and the antics she brings up. It might be just me but I really enjoy seeing Noboru getting into girl troubles be it human or monsters. Oh yea, Sakura is just an awsome heroine in this anime I always look forward to seeing her imagination run wild. It's always a blast.
It was a real shame that we did not get to see a whole lot of Gyokuyou aka Tama throughout the whole anime. I would of liked to know what happened to her during all those years her sister was imprisoned.

agreed. great way to end the series....definitely enjoyed watching this series from beginning to end. especially ep 23 lol the one where sakura thought shes was fat. hopefully we'll see a season2 three or four years from now
I'm going to miss this show's whimsical charm. When I first started watching this series I said it was directionless with tact on monster of the week. And it pretty much kept to that but I found that I didn't care. The characters are just so likable and their daily adventures gave me a smile everytime. I want more. A personal rating of 9/10.
Like a lot of people here, i'm going to miss this cast so much. Such a lovable bunch who made this show such an enjoyable one to watch. Shall miss it very much and shall hope for a second season, or at least a few OVA's in the near future.

The best thing about this anime is it get better as the story process, and somehow grow on me (rather than most recently anime, which get worse and worse by episodes, even when they all have stunning beginning). Another thing is every characters are likable (personally) even when at least three of my favourite characters have once planned to "harm" the two brothers :)
I agree the ending go too fast, but at least it's not so bad.
Overall, i will give it 8/10 for my personal scale, and 9/10 for animesuki scale
PS: i really like how they tease us with Noboru's harem. Very enjoyable to watch :D
The first half was...Well no other word I can think of but stupid. The later part though was a nice "the gang is all together" kinda sendoff ending which is fine although I was sad to see Sakura wasn't included...bah...
Shame that Tama is just now finally coming into the show more and gets shafted both in his/her little drama mini-arc and then only getting to be a part of the merriment in the eleventh hour...Needs a second season... :heh:

While there's nothing specific about this show that's off-the-charts brilliant, it's impossible not to like. The charms grow on you as the series slowly gets under your skin and the characters become more irresistibly likeable. The fact that the voice cast is uniformly outstanding and the animation consistently good for 24 episodes doesn't hurt either. Kou, generally, and Sakura's whacked-out fantasies are standouts, but where really isn't a significant character that I didn't like a lot. A real sleeper, and I'll miss it.

So unabashedly.... unconventional... it just came out all wrong. I had to watch those two scenes again and again. That was pure hilarity. Man, ZEXCS is hitting all the right notes as far as comedy goes for a few seasons in a row. After Rental Magica and H20 Footprints in the Sand, they go all out with these comedies.

Just finished [Two-day marathon, yay!], and I feel the series needed more Mubyou, Momiji, and Shiro. The ending felt a bit rushed, but I liked how mostly all the characters were there in the end [Isn't it sad, Shiro?]. I want a second season now; it was a nice anime overall.
Was the song Momiji sung at the culture festival in ep. 13 ever released in an album or anything?
