View Full Version : Shakugan no Shana - Q & A
And we already got something coming out from nowhere (Statue of Pride) that is never mentioned on the novels.
My guess...
Statue of Pride = SoF's vessel (failed) ?
But it was controlled by Hecate so.. I don't know.
That Anime Original is probably going to replace Silver with this Statue of Pride thing as SoF's vessel maybe? I don't understand the purpose of it, but if Bal Masque wanted to get their god back, or waited for his arrival for a long time. Then I would suppose this is the action they would take.

Its kinda weird that all the events from two seasons have been setted for the appearence of a character that we haven't even listened yet.

I think it was more about lack of materials to run SnS. Not enough novels. That's why there's a boring beginning in S2

If they went up to Novel 16 (or that was their original plan) then Novel 16 was released in February 10, 2007. While the first episode for the second season was October 5, 2007. So I will not be able to understand if it was lack of materials, even in the second opening in season two they showed us a big hint to Novel 16 chapter 3.

Which one? The only things I see from novels are the Silver, Bel Peol fighting and Kazumi prisoned. Oh, Shana fighting in a sort of another dimension too, but I think it was more like artistic.

This could just be a theory of mine, but look around 0:43 - 0:45 and look at the thing surrounding Shana.
Now think about Yuji + SnH's fuzetsu. See any resemblance?

Maybe you are right there, but for what I read on the novels, the Fuzetsu was completely black, and you can see some red there. But of course, J.C. Staff may have skipped that fact as they did with the 75% of the novel.

I think Shana reaching for and grabbing Yuji's hand is also novel related stuff maybe something that will happen in the final novel.
Bel Peol fighting? I don't think she has even done much fighting in the novels not yet anyway.

I think only Yuji's flames where black the red probably represents the crimson world. Same as when Yuji opened the fuzetsu back in season 2 only this time the flames came out black. They were described as the flame with no light. Maybe a hint that Yuji has fallen into darkness or something like that?

Now that I think about it, it might be something very important.
But this discussion is turning a little towards novel-related, so let's go back to the novel thread shall we :heh:

ok, what's the news on season 3? this year or next?
"The August issue of Tokuma Shoten's Animage magazine will publish a quote from producer Nobuhiro Nakayama regarding the upcoming Shana Project based on Yashichiro Takahashi and Noizi Ito's fantasy light novels. Nakayama says that he is aiming for the finale of the storyline, but before the staffers can do the third series, they must delve into the background of the characters and their deep relationships. According to Nakayama, that is why they are producing the Shakugan no Shana S original video anime project first."
Since SnS S is completed, they are surelly working on season 3 by now, since the last light novel is coming out this year. Of course this is all only a guess, since there is no oficial release date.
ok, what's the news on season 3? this year or next?
Shakugan no Shana III (TBA)
Is what I see while using wiki to search on J.C. Staff, but just like SkyFlames said, ever since the completion of Shakugan no Shana S. With the finishing of To Aru Majutsu no Index II and Shakugan no Shana coming first before Zero no Tsukaima (or was that reversed?) well either way, if ZnT does come first and does have an extra season, then they will need to finish that then they will head for season 3.

They would need a miracle to find someone that can actually revive ZnT...
Why Hooves ? Is it set in stone somewhere that a studio can't work on two animes at a same time ? And for seiyuus it obviously can't be a problem since often seiyuus voice in several animes per a season ( animes in spring etc. ).

I know that seiyuus can voice several characters in different animes per season (after checking who voiced who in the animes that are currently airing) just merely an accusation of mine that J.C. Staff will go through Index II - SnS/ZnT (if they choose to continue it) one by one and air other animes along with these. Not trying to say that the studio is only allowed to air one anime at a time, they are airing 2-3 animes right now (Yumekui Merry and Index II and even coming with Aria the Scarlet Ammo in April 8th)
If there will be a new season of Zero no Tsukaima, it won't come before Shakugan no Shana III. I think they will air SnS III and then new season of ZnT next year.

wanna have something to do with the serie untill s3 is up and running for full :D:D

Under Viz, they released 2 poorly translated versions of Novels 1&2. While Baka-Tsuki seems to be coming up with a way to translate the novels once again ever since they had to stop the project due to the license of Viz. So it all depends if Baka-Tsuki can keep this translation notice going and release from novels 5-24 (since they cant translate the earlier novels)
The manga deviates a little from what you see in the anime or read from the light novels. But it's still pretty decent to check up on if you are a major Shana fan.

Basically, if you can't understand japanese, you're stuck with the anime.
I have all the geneon dvds for season 1, all the translated mangas up to 6, and the two viz media novels in english. Aside from that, I have the whole subbed second season on my computer, all the subbed ovas on my computer, and all the shana tan specials on my computer. (More than a half of my collection is only available in Japan....sadly)

V7 is up on B-T if you want it.
V3 is still around the web, even if you can't find the original english one, you surelly can find the spanish one. There is also a major part of V4 on english, except the last chapter which is 25 percent missing and the epilogue.
V5 got only the prologue and some interludes and V6 and V7 are just some sentences...
There is also a chapter of the bridge scene from V16 on the web.
That's all you can get from the novels, if you want to read it completely you better start studying japanese, because we got a long way to go before getting it on the easy way.

Animation difficulties, I imagine.
I need a few questions answered, because it's going to keep me up late at night.
What channels will be broadcasting this, or is it japan only?
Will it still be 24 episodes, or considering the circumstances that it's the season finale, maybe we'll see more?
Will the series be an episode a week? And how long until we see these on the web subbed?
Thanks in advance, really need answers to those.
I don't understand your first question. Aren't all anime Japan only?
For the second question : No one knows, but I assume 24 episodes.
And lastly : No one knows (again). Additionally, though I'm not sure if Shana is licensed, asking such things usually is not allowed. Find them and the information on your own.

Well, LN readers pretty much know the dialogues of this first part of the story and what's going on. So if you know what's going on you don't need to get exactly every word, just to watch what you read before animated.

Wait are you saying there's more then 2 novels translated??? Or, are you basing that off the summaries? If so, that doesn't really help in understanding dialogue. Can I get a link to where you found the fan translations please?

Viz had copyrights for Shakugan no Shana Volumes 1-5. They only translated 2, and they were horribly translated. Baka-Tsuki went around this copyright and translated I believe was 7 and up. Maybe they started in a later volume, but it was better then the agonizing wait that Viz made us do in which they never bothered translating the other volumes. If you look around the Baka-Tsuki website, you'll find more volumes translated.

The Silver resulted to be a 'leftover' of Snake of the Festival (Crimson God) that doesn't got an own will and therefore, it alimentates of human's stronger feelings. The imitator that got killed on Season 2 was nothing but a recreation of the real Silver (I can't explain it in any other way because it was a filler...).
In other words, the Silver is an object, nothing more, nothing less.
At this point of the story (Ep. 1 of Season 3) the Silver is somewhere hidden and waiting to be evoque. (I think?)

The second season of the anime as well the specials, all before season 3, covered until what volume of the novels? 16th?
Shakugan no Shana S only covered the special LNs
Shakugan no Shana season 2 covered up to the prologue of volume 16 (or maybe 14)
The first episode of season 3 is still in the prologue of volume 16.

(So what I actually meant is; Will it be aired at Tokyo MX, same time again?)
Is the new Yuuji with the braided pony tail actually what Yuuji looks like (it's actually his form) or is that what Aizen looks like and now Yuuji is inside his form?
I thought it pony tail Yuuji was just Yuuji with a new look but the end of the episode shows pony tail Yuuji talking to normal Yuuji.

From what I could remember,
The braided hair is actually part of the Snake of the Festival's tail.
From what I could remember,
The braided hair is actually part of the Snake of the Festival's tail.
His braided hair is part of Snake's skin. Which he can control at will, so when someone attacks him from behind. He can easily maneuver his tail to smack them away. So when an opponent thinks he/she has the advantage of attacking him from behind, they are severely mistaken.
No I mean is the Ponytail Yuuji form just Yuuji with a new look or is that actually the Crimson Lord's form? It's hard to tell with generic anime face designs.
Since at the end of episode 1, we see ponytail "yuuji" talking with normal yuuji as if they were different people.

Physically, it's both of them. Yuuji and the Snake of the Festival merged together. The scene of them talking together in episode one appears to be mental and/or spiritual in nature, to differentiate the two of them. But on the outside, the physical form is Yuuji and the Snake merged into one being.

My memory is a bit foggy on the details because it's been so long since I read the novel summary but I believe it went something like this...
In Margery's old life she was the child of a rich land owner but his partners stabbed him in the back and left him in financial ruin. Margery then had no choice but to work as a prostitute in order to pay off her families dept while there she plotted her revenge on those who destroyed her life.
However the very day she was going to carry out this plan The Sliver happened to be in the same area. Attracted by Margery's negative emotions it killed everyone in the brothel including the people she was plotting to take revenge on. Margery's was for a lack of better words pissed at The Sliver for stealing her revenge afterwards she became a Flame Haze to find The Sliver and kill it for taking her revenge. Sadly she didn't know that it was her desire for revenge that summoned The Sliver in the first place.
In short Margery was seeking revenge for losing the chance to take revenge on some other people but had no idea it was her desire for revenge that robbed her of said revenge in the first place...Ironic no? :heh:

This may be an idiotic question, but working off only a partial knowledge of the first two seasons, I wondered if someone could just clarify for me whether the Silver is different than "Silver the Second," as Yuji is (I guess?) sometimes called. Or whether it's merely that he's called the second, since it's the uh, second guy with silver flames that they've known of.
In other words, was Silver the Second just a nickname Yuji got (this is off Wikipedia, so its accuracy is also questionable), upon initially seeing the color of his flame, because they didn't realize that the Silver (uh, the first?) was inside the MLC?
Thanks in advance for any help. If the answer is in some remote way a spoiler, feel free to PM me. I have no idea if it is, as I'm working in ignorance of what happens.

You got it right, but there's another reason: the Silver is supposed to be the host of the Snake of the Festival when he enters the human world. However, since the Snake manages to influence Yuji to join his side, the Snake decided to relegate the Silver into his "Rinne" and use Yuji to manifest himself into the world.
Take note that Yuji has the Reiji Maigo, the Azure (that protects anyone from Flame-based attacks), and the Blutsauger (that injures anyone that touches the sword while Power of Existence is fed into it), so there are a lot of advantages when the Snake chose Yuji.

Also the most notable reason SoF pickeed Yuji over The Sliver is because The Sliver lacked personality...:heh:
SoF: So, how was your day?
Silver: ......
SoF: Ok.... What do you feel about this world?
Silver: ......

I think she was a prostitute. It explains why she was naked in the flaming house and why old men are giving money to her. There was also an image of her sitting on the bed.
Margery has that whore look down though so I'm not surprised.
It was said that she "was a kind hearted aristrocrat woman loved by many"
I don't think being "kind and loved by everyone" makes a person prostitute. hehehe

This quote should answer everything:
Margery, who couldn’t hear Tanaka’s shout in her ears already, dreamt of her past.
In the past, she was always relied on by others, and she continued to repay back this trust as she continued to live till now.
(—“OO nee-san, please help me”—)
To her, helping everyone around her was her motivation to live.
She seemed to be like that ever since she was little.
(—“OO-sama, please lend my your power.” —)
The inept father got help from got help from a girl, and could finally keep his life as the only legitimate child left.
But the moment the little trickster couldn’t solve occurred—
(—“OO, I beg of you. As long I can continue to live on, our family” —)
After they released her father, she worked together with a few retainers and used an open city policy to win peace back.
But in the end, her escaped father was killed and her allies betrayed her—
(—“OO-sama, I just want to live on and see that child again.” —)
She rallied soldiers that were taken as prisoners and organized a large revolution to escape, and finally managed to do so.
However, she just had to fall to the retainers she saved before.
(—“OO-sama, we just want to continue living. Please forgive us” —)
After they escaped successfully, she was sold to that ‘brothel’ for just that little amount of money.
And then, over there, the girls who were sold there too said to her—
(—“OO nee-san, please, save me” —)
She was often relied on by others, and could only continue to assist others. It’s unknown when it began, she started building quite the standing amongst them.
It’s said that the one who finally destroyed that ‘brothel’ was herself.
(I really wanted to wreck it, right…did I really wreck the life I lived…?)
Actually, she was sick of it, sick of being requested by others, solving problems for others, living with what little honor she had, she was sick of it all.
She even lost the reason for revenge.
Because she was already wrecked.
It was already over. Everything.

Why is the name of this anime called Shakugan no SHANA, instead of Shakugan no Shana? In other words, what is the reason in writing Shana entirely in uppercase, as in Japanese language?
Thank you for the information. :)

紅 (Gu) - Red, Crimson
世 (ze) - World, Realm
If translate literally, Guze no Tomogara will be like the "Denizen of the Crimson Realm".
Actually, this is only a name coined by certain human poet long time ago and it gradually spreads among the Denizens.
There are other names to call the world they come from: Impassable Neighbor, Spiral Monastery, but the most popular is Guze.

The translator might have been guessing. As I understand it, in Japanese pronouns and theirs uses are a bit different than in English, so oftentimes there's no way to know. Which then causes an issue with translating to English, because the translation becomes incredible odd sounding and cumbersome if the words he/she are never used.

Indeed, Merihim had a one-sided love towards Mathilde. With Wilhelmina having a one-sided love towards Merihim. While Mathilde was in love with Alastor. Shana is also the exact age of Yuji (or somewhere around him), so she isn't like 100 years old or anything. This information needs to be edited on the wiki..

Whoever that added that was basing himself only on suppositions... Mathilde dyed somewhere in the medieval age, if she actually did had a child and it was Shana then she would be some 500 years old, but we see her just making the contract with Alastor at modern times. Definetely fake.
Marcus H.
2012-02-15, 22:52

Mathilde is born during the Middle Ages, and Shana had her final moments as a human being while Hongkong or Singapore is already a booming country.

I always thought while Shana was training in her early years with Merihim and Wilhelmina, she was growing up like a normal girl. From the moment she made her contract with Alastor, her body stopped growing, witch made her look like a 14-15 year old girl, but made her perhaps much older - not so much because back in season 1, when showing her training days, the tomogara who attacked Tendou-kyoku had a motorcycle. Maybe she is like 20 or 30 years old...
Anyway, this is just me...

I never said that everything could be solved that way but if it's true that SoC just wants to help people and fulfill their dreams and the flame hazes want to protect the people, doesn't that mean they have some kind of common ground?
But Flame Hazes DON'T want to help people. It was never about fighting for humanity with them.
The Snake receives the prayers of the Tomogara. Humanity is represented within the Snake by Yuji.

What happen to Yuji in the end of ss2 and the beginning of ss3? How did he meet SnH?
Which one is more canon to the first volume? The first six episodes of the series or the movie? Did Alastor really get summoned by Friagne?
The summary at Baka-tsuki is not even done yet, so I don't know...

The movie Shana gets shot by trigger happy and Alastor gets summoned.
What's the significance of no 'Misaki' city in the new world? Because of that there is no conflict or something?

The city was so damaged during the copying process that they couldn't even make a copy of it. Quoting tsunade666...
When Yuuji uses Misaki city as the place to summon the gate. He expands the already crack up holes in the city. Resulting in it completely destroyed and cease to exist. And it goes along with his original plan of restoring it. He completely sacrifice Misaki city to open up the gate then with the left over power of existence he completely repairs it and even the ones that got eaten by the tomogara.

You know has been a long time since someone asked this so I'll his repost my old explanation. Also note that the Snake had always been sleeping inside Yuji watching everything going on around him.
You see there had been a few times when Yuji would have dreams where he is talking to a mirror version of himself (which was the snake) and they would have all these deep philosophical conversations about life etc. and grow to become kinda like friends.
Well after the battle with Sabrac. Yuji started to worry about how he was still unable to really protect Shana that was when the snake appeared before Yuji and told him the only way to save Shana is to stop all the fighting and the best way to do that was to "Change The Truth of The World" i.e. Rewrite Reality.
By doing this Humans would no longer be needed for food so the flame haze would no longer be needed which meant that Shana could go back to being a normal girl and wouldn't have to fight anymore. So Yuji fuses with the snake to become a new being capable of caring out this plan.

In addition to the in-universe explanation already given, the metastory significance of Xanadu lacking its own Misaki City is so that there's a convenient way to prevent a duplication of known Misaki City characters--no extra Yujis, no extra Kazumis, no extra Satous, etc.
Assuming that Xanadu copied the world's population as well. I don't know about that; haven't seen the last two episodes yet due to lack of computer that my anime's stored on.

It doesn't exist yet. The second season isn't even out in subs (officially), though the third season is. I'm not totally sure what is going on with the licensing of the show, but I expect that eventually the second and third seasons will be available dubbed from Funimation.
Whether they will have the same voice cast as the first season is a different question. I hope at the very least they manage to get the person who did Shana's voice in English.

dang i hate waiting.
Ok, I just finished watching the entire series and... I'm at a loss. I can't understand what the war is all about. Can you guys help me, please?
Let's see: Yuji goes missing, and is later discovered to have merged with the Snake of the Festival. His plan is to make a new world for the Tomogara so that Flame Hazes, Shana in particular, wouldn't need to burn themselves by fighting. For some reason I didn't get, Flame Hazes want to stop him. Why would they want that? Isn't it for the best if Tomogara leave this world?
Anyway, the Snake finally manages to create his Xanadu. Shana hacks it by putting a rule that says eating humans is forbidden. Why? There will be humans in Xanadu too?
So the Tomogara leave, and suddenly the Flame Hazes go 'Oh, I guess it wasn't that bad after all.' and they decide to go to Xanadu too. I mean, really? What was that whole damn war for, then?! Isn't their goal the exact same? Shouldn't they have cooperated in creating the new world? And what was that proclamation from the goddess in mid-fight? Why does it sound like Tomogara and Flames will be fighting in the new world too?
In the end, Yuji battles Shana for... uh... no reason? He wants to be with her, she wants to be with him, yet they end up fighting each other. What for?
Seriously, I feel like I'm missing a large part of the plot, because as of now it makes no sense whatsoever, and I only have confusion in my head. If someone could be so kind as to enlighten me, please do.

Xanadu would've been a perfect copy of Earth with an endless bounty of Power of Existence, but if that was all, there was nothing stopping Tomogara from eating people in that realm as well, which would just result in a continuing war as Flame Hazes fought to keep the balance and prevent human loss of existence. Also if the Snake screwed up with the creation process then it could potentially unmake all of reality and for some, that's just too great a risk to take. And the majority of Flame Hazes have major grievances against Tomogara and want revenge, and Xanadu could've potentially taken away their very reason to exist--don't let it be said that the Flame Hazes were entirely in the right.
Partially fixed by altering the rules of Xanadu to prevent Tomogara from being able to eat humans within the realm. And I guess the Four Gods wanted to create a warning of sorts--an event where hundreds of thousands of Tomogara lost their lives in one event for feeding on humans, so future Tomogara would be too scared to eat humans and get hunted down by Flame Haze for it.
Can't speak much for the Yuji/Shana conflict; having not seen it yet. So... lover's quarrel, I guess?

Rising Dragon already explained a bit, but here's some background info that will put things into more perspective.
3,000 years ago, the Snake of the Festival first attempted to create Xanadu and was sealed away in the abyss. We don't get many details about how exactly this occurred in the anime, but from a few lines in some of the episodes the following information can be learned.
1) The first version of Xanadu was much different than what was ultimately created, consisting of a small city or "walled garden" as it was referred to once. It seems like this was some sort of prototype, I think, and it's not clear just how much progress the Snake made or what specifically the details of this Xanadu were.
2) The Snake of the Festival decided to do things peacefully with the Flame Hazes, and even invited them to his early Xanadu creation-in-progress.
3) The Flame Hazes, concerned that the Snake would accidentally destroy the world, were apparently not swayed by his words or offers of peace. The Flame Hazes that were invited fought the Snake anyways, and sacrificed themselves to seal him away. They did this out of an apparent belief they were saving the world from the Snake's (in their view) misguided attempts to create a paradise.
Now, since the Xanadu that is created at the end of the series is different in nature than the Snake's early work, and he also had the Midnight Lost Child to help him, we cannot say with absolute certainty that the Flame Hazes 3,000 years were wrong. But I personally think they were, that the Snake would not have destroyed the world. I think the ancient Flame Hazes made a horrible, horrible mistake.
Now, looking at the present, the Snake has finally been released, and he plans to create a new Xanadu on a grand scale. But based on what happened in the past, he's obviously less certain about doing things peacefully with the Flame Hazes. Indeed, much of the early conflict is essentially the Snake assuming that the Flame Hazes will find some reason or excuse to oppose him once again, and thus he should make war on them preemptively, and avoid revealing too much about his plans for fear that doing so would simply make it easier for the Flame Hazes to oppose him.
Did he make the right decision? Who knows.
Early on, the Flame Hazes, for their part, fight the Snake because... well, he's gone down in legend as a monster (unjustly, but they don't know that) and he's making war with them.
Once the Snake's plan is finally revealed to them, they oppose him mainly for the reason that Rising Dragon mentioned. They think that a Xanadu that doesn't have a rule that prohibits eating humans in it will just lead to disaster.
As to why the Snake and the Flame Hazes don't talk things out at that point, and are forced to use violence. Well, history. The history of what I just described above, for one thing. They both don't trust each other. And more than just that, there is a long history of bloodshed and violence and hatred between Flame Hazes and Denizens.
Essentially, you're right about how the battle was in a way meaningless. It should have been possible for them to avoid fighting, could have been if things had gone differently, but a history of bad blood and mistrust meant that they ended up fighting anyways.
I see now, thanks for the explanation.
This means the whole war was fought just out of fear and resentment — the Flame Hazes feared the legendary Snake of the Festival would be an evil being and undo reality or create something dangerous for the balance of the Power of Existence (or beared their personal grudges against Denizens and wanted to kill them all anyway); the Snake, that once wanted to solve things peacefully, now feared the Flame Hazes would oppose and seal him again if he tried to talk with them so attacked them first. It's all about mutual misunderstandings that led to loss of lives. This is...very sad, indeed.
However, I'd put the greater part of the blame on the ancient Flame Hazes.

Since I didn't see this cover
In the end, Yuji battles Shana for... uh... no reason? He wants to be with her, she wants to be with him, yet they end up fighting each other. What for?
Yuji felt he deserved a large punishment for the loses of flamehaze and human life caused in reaching his goal in the war. So he felt he didn't deserve happiness for a long time from then, which is why he wouldn't allow himself to be with Shana, and that Shana wouldn't accept the deaths he caused as a part of his plan.
While Shana and Alastor obviously disagreed and felt their Yuji's punishment for himself was too harsh and too selfish since it ignored/assumed Shana's feelings. And Shana would not accept being apart from Yuji over something like this, so she fought against his reasoning.
Thus they fought over the difference in the believes on if he should be punished or not.
So he knew his plan would kill a whole lot of Flame Hazes and humans, but still got through with it even if he felt guilt, thinking from the beginning that he would not be reunited with Shana. I see.
Actually, I have one more question, but it isn't anime or manga related, hope it's still on-topic in Q&A thread.
I searched the Internet for the novels — I can't possibly hope to buy them raw, since that level of Japanese is way too difficult for me atm, and I could find only the first two volumes in English from a few years ago. Does this mean it won't be translated anymore?

Unfortunately, if you mean official translations, yes. Or most likely. Viz licensed the series and released the first two novels a few years back, but I guess they didn't sell well enough or something, because they never released any further novels. I think they still have the license technically, but they don't seem to have any interest in doing anything with it anymore.

They typically called her by her Flame Haze title of "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter."
I don't understand the distinction between Tomogara (Denizen) and Ou (King). Are Kings the only ones that can make a contract with a human to create a flame haze? So all flame haze have kings in them. But how did Spiral Organ make a contract with Lamie then if Spiral Organ isn't a King?
Do the Flame Haze titles come with the King? So whoever Tiamat contracts with is "Manipulator of Objects"? Did Lamie get the title "Corpse Retrieve" because he's contracted with Spiral Organ?

Tomogara(Denizen) and Ou(Lord/king) are classified by their ability to store and manipulating the Power of Existence. Those who have these abilities will be honored as King. But there are also those who seclude themselves in the world without showing their true power; they will not be called Kings until the others acknowledge them.
Some Kings who form contract with human are not "King", their classification is tomogara but in honor of their devotion to protect the balance, they are called "King" after contract.
The title of the Flame Haze comes with the King who he/she made contract with. There are two examples of those who have the same titles with same Kings: Mathilde Saint-Omer >> Shana and Karl Berwald >> Chiara Toscana.

So normally they have different titles depending on the person. So the manifested powers are different as well then? Wilhelmina is called "Manipulator of Objects" because she can control those bandages... if Tiamat contracted with someone else, that person won't necessarily have bandage powers?
Elf song

Flame Hazes with same Kings usually use same powers instead of creating their own unique spells. But if Tiamat makes contract with others after Wilhelmina, that person has the choice to follow his/her predecessor's style of fighting or not:
-Chiara seems to follow her predecessor's footstep by training Karl's renowned ability to shoot aurora arrows and doesn't create her own spell. Another person is Yuri Chvojka (the Flame Haze kid who made an appearance in season 2, during Margerie's flashback) who use the same power as his many predecessors to control insects.
-On the other side, They could create new spells or abilities of their own. Like Shana who doesn't have to follow her predecessor's power to create an army of knights but choosing her own perspective of "strength". She creates her own spells: sword of flame, manifestation of Alastor's fist, etc.

Here's a question for those who have read the novels. I've heard on another forum that in Volume 20, when Yuji reveals the Grand Order and makes his two proclamations, things occur a bit differently than in episode 14 and 15 of the anime. I found the way the whole Flame Haze massacre went down a bit odd in the anime, as it seemed weird for Yuji to proclaim that their fight was over and then go right back to killing them. Did it happen quite like that in the novels, or did it make more sense?

They can't live without the Denizens, whatever their reasons for revenge--like Khamsim said to Kazumi, when he found the Denizen that was responsible for his uplifting into a Flame Haze, he was actually grateful to the Denizen, and the Denizen grateful to him.
Also, they probably wanted to prevent the Denizens in Xanadu from doing something phenomenally stupid. With the Flame Hazes there, the Denizens would hesitate from doing something dangerous.
Also, they probably wanted to see the God of Creation's new world.
Is it just me, or is SoF Yuji actually pretty weak? Sure, in the beginning, he absolutely raped Shana, Margery, and Wilhermina combined. A few episodes later, he's only fighting on equal footing with Shana. I hear that the three were holding back (I personally don't buy it). The only plausible explanation seems to be that Shana was using the most powerful unrestricted spell AKA the power of love, but that explanation seems so cliched and weak that I think there's a better explanation.

That kindda makes sense, but wasnt one of the rules of the new world that the denizens cant eat humans.
I also find it odd that even the flame hazes that have lost the will to fight were brought there as well.
Another thing is, is the denizens cant eat humans where do they get their power of existence from?

There's plenty of ways a Denizen can cause trouble without devouring humans, I imagine. They have some pretty amazing powers all things considered.
Xanadu, IIRC, utilizes the distortions in the world to generate Power of Existence for free use. It's based off of the Reiji Maigo, which did the same to regenerate used Power of Existence in its holder.

Yes, with little aspects of it taken out. For example, Yuji in the novels also confessed his feelings to Shana after she confessed. :) In my opinion, I think they should've added that in the anime.
Indeed, it would have added more feel to it~

We have not seen any images from the NA set thus far, so we cannot judge. As for the movie question, there is only one movie and it is an alternative telling of the first part of the first season. I personally watched the movie first and still appreciated the episodes, so you can do that. It's up to you if you want to repeat the events.
Well if it's just repeating events, then I'm not interested in the movies.
Well I wouldn't say it's just repeating events. The move has better graphics and efects plus it's ending is way more epic and actually close to orginal version from Novel
