I haven't really identified any figurines that I've wanted yet so far. I've purchased the other usual things like the DVDs, manga, and artbooks though. I didn't buy any of the CD singles or the soundtracks from the first season but I might be getting this season's CD single since I really like season 2's opening and ending themes. The fact that they're both on one CD instead of two also helps cut costs considerably. ;)

Don't know if anyone else has already found out but there will be a NEW opening theme called "Blaze (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=GNCV-1)" sung by KOTOKO as the 2nd opening theme for Shana II, I hope it's just as good as "Being" and "Hishoku no Sora", I didn't really like "Joint" from the first listen but I'm hooked on the chorus and electric guitar intro for that song now.

Also, there will be a new drama CD (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=GNCA-1154) released next month. Description says it will have a different feel to the anime series which I hope means it's comical and hilarious like the other audio drama tracks off the Assorted Shana CD's.

The drama CD also looks interesting and I'll definitely be ordering that. Nearly all of the audio drama tracks off the Assorted Shana CD's were hilarious so I'll be looking forward to listening to Splendid Shana (my 6 years of Japanese study came into use after all lol).

I've seen the name of the booklet as "Sword Robe," but the back cover has "Zoetrope." It's four chapters. One and three are light novel style, two and four is manga. Anyone know if it's been scanlated?

I've finally found out some information on the special drama cd of Shana II below after receiving and listening to it.

The story is a lighthearted one where Shana and Wilhelmina are shopping at a shopping mall and Shana finds a lost little boy looking for his mother. There's some funny parts in it where Shana is helping the little boy find his mom while also playing and keeping him company. She doesn't know that Wilhelmina, Yuji, Yoshida and the others are following her around.

There's a funny bit where the little boy plays with a love match-making game. He tells her Yoshida's love compatibility with Yuji was 80% so she decides to test her own love-match and got just 3% XD.

7429 yen should be its price, which at the moment comes out to about 67 dollars right now. Perhaps the prices were higher on the sites you went to because shipping costs are lower?

Don't bother trying to search high and low for it though cause the company which made it , TJ Grosnet, had filed for bankruptcy back in April this year and all their possessions and assets have been seized by the banks. Originally it was only available to buy from their website but I think a few were sold at the Tokyo Toys Roadshow event according to the blog in the link. Consider this VERY RARE to get.
There's one up for auction over on Yahoo Japan Auctions right now but be prepared to pay 10,000+ yen for it.

Not sure if that's a good one you want but it's about as closest to the real thing if it did exist lol. Best you pre-order that since they tend to be out of print way before its release date.

It's Viz's english translation of the first light novel of Shakugan no Shana. They only released two and then ended up scrapping the project.

Unfortunately, the only stuff worth getting is Japanese language required. Everything that comes overseas is not worth it. But if they translate the light novel series, people will enjoy that alot though most light novel books are about 250+ pages each and there are 16 or so volumes.

Time for an update on my Shana collection for the new year. Most of these merchandise I got from Yahoo Japan Auctions while some come from CDJapan and some from local anime shops in my area.

It's a cheap, mass produced sword that they stuck a Shana-like tsuba (hand guard) on.

Have a look at this post for a little insight into "real" swords.

The thing is, due to animation and artwork being distributed among different artists, the tsuba on Nietono no Shana is often drawn in different ways. So, only the basic shape and design can be taken from that. Here's a couple of examples.

Also, the kashira (buttcap on the end of the handle) is usually drawn on Shana's sword as being gold/brass in color, and it's fairly long compared to what you see on most actual katanas. The one on that "replica" does not match hers.

Who's to say what the real, official Nietono no Shana looks like? Even in the Noizi Ito artbooks there are variations, although she usually has the tsuba as being plain... just the four lobe pattern with no design on it.

[edit]- I just remembered, I made a scan of Shana's sword from the manga. That's probably the most authoritative source.

Same four lobe pattern, but it has a dragon design on it. I enlarged it and adjusted the contrast to highlight it.

Shana is a runt. A very cute runt, but a runt none the less. It would be impractical for her to carry anything larger than a katana, but it makes for "coolness" to think of it as something bigger.

Small, sassy, cute girl + big ass sword = great fun for everyone. :D

I just checked and Alastor calls it an "odachi" in the anime, which apparently is translated "longsword." It also carries the connotations of being ceremonial or sacred. From what I've read, odachi were used for field battle and things like taking down cavalry. They weren't exactly ideal for close quarter combat.

But that's another thing where the art/anime mediums suffer/allow for variations. The shape, size and proportions of Shana's sword changes to fit the scene or add dramatic impact.

Move the tip of the blade in that image up to the heel of her outstretched leg and it would be as tall as she is. Also, note the length of the handle between the two. Most of the time, Nietono no Shana has the appearance of a katana.

There are a few smaller Shana PVCs that have posable arms and head, but the only Margerys I've seen have been larger statues.

It's the cutest Shana fig I've seen. I have some KOs of the Figumates but they're not great, to be honest. The bandaged Shana looks nice, but her arms won't move properly, so that blows.

I might get the Wilhelmina from this line, but it doesn't seem as posable. This Shana fig is meant to have waist articulation which is great. I would like a line of fully posble 4 inch scale Shana figs but the only one close has a reall ugly body type and is probably till too tall. I don't really like the schoolgirl outfit all much, I do like the other outfits Shana has worn though, especially the Dorothy one.
