I seem to recall one background piece that hasn't made it onto ANY of the Shana OST or Assorted CD's. Does anyone remember that humorous music played during the early episodes in season 1 where Shana is telling off all the teachers in the classroom?
I have all 3 Assorted CD's and the TV series OST but it seems like that track (and of course the piano version of Hishoku no Sora) has never been released on CD.

Yeah, there was a small chance it was going to appear on the movie soundtrack --- but of course, nothing.
Maybe a second season soundtrack, though we'd have to actually hear the track played in the series first, for any hope for it to happen.

I can't wait for the release of the new OP, JOINT by Mami Kawada. It just sounds too awesome.
Also i'd like to point out, we do hear a number of new BGM tracks in the first episode of the second season. I just love new Ko Otani material.
I love all Shana openings especially because Mami Kawada is one of the greatest singers to me! Hishoku no Sora and JOINT are masterpieces

The orchestral pieces used in the beginning of most episodes and in the previews remind me of the BGM used in the episode previews in Death Note.
all the OPs and EDs are great! esp. hishoku no sora by mami, and the 1st ED.
the 2nd OP done by kotoko sounded above average. her voice is abit to the "cute" side. the 2nd ED sounds good too.
both OP and ED of the 2nd season sounded fantastic!
overall the music of sns is one of the best i've ever heard!
does anyone know where or have the instrumental from the very 1st opening?? its by kawada mami - hishoku no sora..i have the song i just need the piano or intrumental version pleaseeeee...i've been looking for it everywhere and cant find it..it usually play in the anime episode theme too .thanks alot.

If "Hishoku no Sora" was meant to attract viewers to the series, then "JOINT", with its hard rock intro, not only did that, but it also turned up the amp to 11, and we all know that 11 is louder than 10.

I don't like the Shana II ending. It has a weird tune in the beginning and ending of the song. The other endings were fine and the 1st ending was GREAT!!!! All the openings are indeed awesome though in terms of animation and sound.

The op is amazing...the ep is ok, not nearly as good as the 1st seasons 1st ed...if that makes sense lol
but the op makes up for it...

I just thought of this, but a lot of minor characters do not get to appear in the opening, unlike op 1 and 2 for season 1.
Poor minor characters.
Still a good opening though.
It happened what it had to happen.
After listening to season's two OP for the third time not only did I get used to it but fell in love with.
Waiting with expectation for the release of the cd singles.

well i like both the OP and ED themes of SNS II! :D
though at first the OP was totally a hard rock but when you reached the vocal part its really cool! and i really love it! XD
as for the ED well i like it because the rythym is just nice + its just one of the common genres sung by Mami Kawada :)
anyways i have the OP and ED TV versions though but i can't wait for the release of its single this coming OCT.31 XD
Rawr. Joint (OP of II) Doesn't get it's single out 'till October 31.
It's so awesome, too =(

Joint and Hishoku no Sora took time to grow on me but they are very good. I liked all the OP/ED of the first series of Shana. It's probably a first for me to like every op/ed from a multi-OP/Ed series - shows how awesome they are!
I like all the OP/ED songs of the 1st season, especially Hishoku no Sora - my favorite. I'm still evaluating the 2nd season songs. Usually it takes time for the songs to grow on you.

Listened to the OP song (full version):
Pretty good.
I was never a fan of the ED, so I didn't listen to it.
Just finished listening to the full version of joint. I was expecting there to be a guitar solo since they had that heavy metal intro so I'm a bit disappointed that there wasn't one. Other than that, another great song from this series.

Downloaded the OP and ED last night listened to them on the way to work. Kwada Mami has been putting out some good stuff over the past year. Joint and Triangle are excellent tracks now it time to drive my co workers crazy by putting them on repeat ALL DAY Mwahhhhh:p
Geez, both of Kawada Mami's Shana OPs flat-out rock.
I'm loving the full cut of Joint; it's got the kind of soaring melody to which I'm especially partial and the same infectious energy that made Hishoku no Sora so fun to listen to. Even better, the hard-edged intro doesn't seem nearly as invasive when the song isn't abridged for TV.

I found joint to be alot more dark and pervasive then the semi happy sort of tone i got from Hishoki no Sora. This really makes it very enjoyable, the guitar intro was amazing.
I'd have to say Joint is one of the best songs i've heard in quite a while.

I think Mami Kawada's ability to adapt to the style of music at hand is what her and her music so enjoyable. Joint upbeat guitar rifts and darker edge appeal to fans who like a little harder music while While Triangle has a more pop sound that is still energetic but gives off a kind of immature innocence. Both styles describe Shana her self to a certain extent.

The build up to the chorus for Joint is just amazing, it felt like all the energy that was stored in the verses were released all at once in the chorus.
I'll have to second what everyone else is saying. Joint is one excellent song.

I prefer the animu JOINT intro to her poor acting. The metal/mechanical renderings are perfect for the intro. If only the whole song was like the intro. Less vocals, more instruments. I prefer the instrumental version now, actually.
As for the ED, whatever that's called, I think I deleted it by accident. Oh well. Nothing of value was lost, not even the instrumental version.
holyman282
2007-11-04, 00:49
The PV for JOINT was dissapointing to say the least. It really did look like poor acting for Mami as the scenes depict sad and depressing but she was basically smirking as she sung the song. Also my image of how she sung the chorus was completely shattered. Listening to just the song i felt that she put so much energy and enthusiasm into the chorus but in the PV it didn't look any different from her singing the verses..
Really I've become completely disillusioned from the PV, should of never watched it, the anime OP was way better. Also she looked a bit chubby in the camera, not sure if it's the case of her not being photogenic or that she's just chubby.

I just hope that funny background music in episode 2 where Shana gave Yuji an obento box full of melon bread is finally included on the second season's soundtrack this time. It was not put on the first season's soundtrack despite it being featured a few times throughout the first season. Regardless of how funny it sounds, that music piece seems to be my favourite and most memorable from Shakugan no Shana, maybe cos it sounds like a mischief song XD.
There's pretty much zero chance of the piano version of "Hishoku no Sora" surfacing on it I bet.

Ok ya it took me a while to get around to watching the first six episodes (don't ask why, i'm dumb or something) but damn I gotta say Mami Kawada can rock !
I've always been a fan of her more "pop" or "techno" type stuff but Joint is one hell of a song.
The way they blend the song into the scenes for the OP is really, really, well done a lot of kickass symbolism that fits perfectly with the emotions of the singing perfectly. Especially when the chorus kicks in and we see Shana fighting that chick with the eye that sends her flying. Really well done. to the anime staff that handles the OP scenes.

This may sound silly, but can anyone provide the translation for the songs' title? What I mean for example, if Hishoku no Sora is translated into English, what does it mean? I also want to know what is the meaning of Yowake Umare Kuru Shoujo, Aka no Seijaku and Akai Namida. Some of the songs are given English name, like Joint and being. Any reasons for that? Thanks for the explanation.

I'm kinda confused by his finger movements, because unless he's wildly jumping from chord to chord, with no real fixed focus on which "instrument" he wants to be, it just doesn't match up. :heh:

It's called tabs. When you're playing an electric guitar, single notes don't have to be strummed, as long as it's hooked up to a specific input in an amplifier.

I've just started watching this anime and I had no idea that the OP came from it. I had heard many times before and I was somewhat surprised to see it as the OP for Shana. At first it just didn't seem like it fit the anime well, but I love the song.
First soundtrack to the second season is wonderful stuff --- i'm a huge fan of Ko Otani's work, and have been for many years, so it's always good to hear new material. Around 70% of the soundtrack is all the happy tracks we've heard, though that's expected when you think about what happened in a bunch of episodes, though the battle/drama tracks are that powerful that i'd say it balances it all out nicely.
The track that played when Pheles' first made her appearance is here which is a good thing, i had a feeling it might appear on the second. Track 29, La visiteuse.

Up to now, even with the introduction of Blaze and Sociometry, my most favourite song is still being. Since the singer is KOTOKO, I thought that Blaze should be similar to being, but my guess is clearly wrong. Blaze is clearly a sad song which clearly suit the big event that will happen later in season 2. Neverthesis, I enjoy both Blaze and Sociometry. It is just that I think if Blaze sounds a bit like being, it would be better.

1) It's Sociometry, not Sociemetry. No excuse for typo, you repeated it twice.
2) Why should BLAZE sound abit more like Being? It may be your own opinion, but I would rather KOTOKO having made changes in her singing career than re-using old songs, tweak it somewhere around and release it as a new single/album.
3) Very satisfied with the new OP/ED, as expected of her.
4) Sorry if I sounded mean, kind of in a bad mood.

I don't think this particular piece was released in any of the albums. I've looked through the Assorted Shana volumes and the others, none seem to have it.
for people who've listened to the whole 2nd season soundtrack, wats ur favorite piece?

Splendide Shana I:
EXIST II - 7/10; It's not really all that good, but it's still kind of fun to listen too.
Kaze no Yukue - 6/10; Slightly worse than Shana's, but still fairly nice.
Drama I - That was hilarious! :heh: Short Summary - Shana wants to become an artisan. Yuuji gives her melonbread with "artisan" in it's name. Shana decides to meet the person who made it (though Yuuji tries to point out that it's just a name). She finds that they were actually made by machine. Then, out of nowhere, Omine appears and agrees that such machine-made melon bread is not true melon bread, and says he once made melon bread. Anyways, through comedic drama, somehow Omine believes Alastor's the god of melon bread and decided to make melon bread. Days later, he presents some to the group (Kazumi, Yuuji, Shana, Alastor). Shana eats it, but chokes on something. It was wasabi... Shana cries out that that was not melon bread...
"urusai, urusai, urusai
shokunin tsurekinasai!"
It rhymes... :heh:
Yuuji's homeroom teacher, Omine... He says he was once a melon bread artisan... :heh:
"Sakai, ore ha mukashi melonpan shokunin wo shiteita koto ha shiteru na?"
(Sekai, you know that I was once a melon bread artisan, right?)
"Ie, mattakumote hatsumimi desu ga..."
(No, this is the first time I heard that...)
:heh:
Alastor-God of Melon Bread! :heh:
The line following this was... something... "Goddamn Melonpan"! :heh::heh::heh::heh:
Drama II - Fumina~~~!
Not as funny as the first, but still a great one! :heh:
Short Summary - Sato finds Fumina and finds out she doesn't know how to get back home... After a short conversation involving Fumina's clueness, they decide to head towards Yuuji's house. Since he's not there, they leave. Ogata and Tanaka sees the two walking together, obviously misunderstanding...
Anyways... Sato finds the silence between them awkward and tries to strike conversations.
Fumina's hobby - Looking at birds
Back at the stalkers, Kazumi sees them and ends up being forced to stay with them...
*insert Ogata's vivid imaginations about the couple, lots of weirdness*
Apparently... Fumina can't recall Yuuji or Shana's appearances really well... (>_<)
"They had hair, eyes, nose, mouth, and then..." :heh:
Then Ogata and co. come along, disguised as fortune tellers...
*insert one of Fumika's airhead moments*
Their plan fails, so they use force only to be stopped.
All misunderstandings cleared.
Regarding feRfe's question, I really love Lieu de la batille decisive, probably because it was used during the fight with Annaberg. Another notable one is Rafraichissement even if it is the "intermission" music.
EXIST II - 7/10; It's not really all that good, but it's still kind of fun to listen too.
Ah, there's an EXIST II, huh? I guess I'll have to check this out, I liked the first one.

Well, I was going to post the youtube link, but there might be better places lying around, so I just figure you'd go find it yourself.
I don't have the .mp3 (yet), I just listen to songs on Youtube. I always do that, especially with anime openings and popular bands like FLOW, since I have a tendency to be picky and have only KOTOKO songs on my hard drive.
Then again, my Hard drive doesn't have much - just room for five or six anime titles, some documents, programs, etc.

Wait, does that mean you don't listen to Shakugan no Shana 1st OPs of both seasons? O_o;; I thought those were better than 2nd OPs too... although to each his own, I suppose....

Blaze Full version in very good Quality.
Only thirty seconds of intro music? Since it was by Kazuya Takase who composed both Re-sublimity and 「天壌を翔る者たち」, I was expecting at least sixty seconds of it prior to the vocals. Well, that caught me off guard. It'll probably take a while for the full version to grow on me, we'll see.

The version Nietono no Shana posted was editted.
The person who upload the *video* actually censored some of KOTOKO's chat, hence the 30 second intro. It is supposedly near a minute.

Yes, the one minute intro: both (or at least the 30 seconds I heard from BLAZE) sound really really similar now that I have thought about it.
Not surprising KOTOKO would have a long intro in BLAZE. I mean, Re-Sublimity, Hane, RETRIEVE, those intros are like... really really long.

The BLAZE single is up at the usual place.
Phantasmagoria
2008-03-11, 01:49
Apparently, the intro for BLAZE is 30 seconds, a very, very short
duration compared to some (or most) of her past works.
However, the rest of the missing minute filled up and acted
as a "bridge" between the lyrics, wonderfully done i.m.o.
As usual, the chorus.. I could never get enough of it.
It's like, Smokers to cigarettes, me to BLAZE.
3.23 - 3.54
3.54 - 4.09
4.09 - 4.10 (<3)
__________________________________________________
As for Sociometry, it is beyond what anyone can imagine, really.
The intro is awesome, AWESOME.
0.13 - 0.40, I have been looking for something similar, and it happens!
The producers could have took off some of the real intensifying part of the songs (full version) and replace it with the current ED. Reason - There's a huge difference. The current ED merely acted as a "teaser", and the uncut version is something really unexpected and excellent.
Kazuya Takase + KOTOKO + C.G.Mix = EPIC WIN.
This Single is worth the price, yes, every single cent.
Perfect score for KOTOKO's 11th Single [BLAZE]!!

Omg just listened to Blaze and Sociometry, very nice songs, it has so much power pace to the song. The drum beats were fast and intense. The choruses were addictive, both songs are really well crafted.
Both songs start out slow then culminates to an intense pace during the chorus. Listening to both of these songs sends shivers down my spine. Really like Kotoko's songs.

I love the 1st OP and both 2ndOP and 2nd ED.
I'm thinking about buying Kotoko's single. It's really soothing and sentimental. I love it ^_^

Man, judging by your spread of posts in the Shana sub-forum, I take it you just recently got into the series, Kimmychan?
I think you'll like the OP and ED theme songs for the second series too when you get around to it. Although they aren't like the first ED, they're more like the first OP. So I guess if you didn’t like that one, then maybe you won’t like the others…

You could say that I've only recently got into the series, yes, within the past few months or so :)
Well I wouldn't say I offered much up, but you're welcome.
You should have quite a bit of time to finish up the second season before the third one comes out. Although we're not sure when it'll come out (my guess is October if it comes this year).

Is there no original version (none copied, really published by those who made SnS) of Hishoku No Sora Piano Version??
This is one of the sound tracks that made me nearly cry in the last episode of season 1 and in season 2 when Shana thinks Yuji will disseapear...
Plz reply if there is... I've been looking all other the net for 2 hours and found nothing but replicas. It's not that they're not good, I simply want the ORIGINAL... Plus I need to learn it on piano as I did with every other pieces of Gundam and Macross.

Quick question that might get answered here.
In episode 18 of season 2, there's a piano piece playing at about 15:00, while Kazumi's buying food and Shana's visiting Yuji's mother. Does anybody know what piece this is and if it was released?
