I was browsing animesuki forums earlier today, and I noticed that there was a banner that had links to a site called HKxyz.com which sells illegal bootlegs and was wondering if the banner system you guys are participating in allows you to selectively choose which banners to display.

Edit by Mod (xris): Link to site has been edited

No. The adverts are not directly under the control of AnimeSuki (as far as I'm aware).

And I edited the link you provided, since after all it did point to a site which sells bootlegs...

As xris already mentioned -- I myself can't do anything about
which advertising is on the site. But here is an comment from
the server admin (Mb81) which might be useful:

Hmm.. looks like Google is going into german advertising... I´ve seen that today on many sites. Even Skyscraper.. lol

But with the new server, we are going to change the banner like on the main site (so no more Google Stuff.)

Hmm well I realize that this thread is from a while ago, but I noticed that there are still HK bootlegger shops advertising at the right side of the animesuki.com page... It's got nothing to do with google or anything, afaik, as the page source talks about a german company called SkyScraper or something providing the ads. Sure, I saw a couple of legal ads too (archonia.com is a very nice european webshop), but that doesn't change the fact that there are bootleg resellers amongst them aswell.

I cannot imagine that animesuki likes this, having a strict policy against licensed anime, while bootlegs do more harm to the anime industry than fansubs ever can...

Anyways I guess animesuki's opinion doesn't really matter to the advertisers, but someone with legal interest should go to those ad providers and tell them to stop advertising for the fscking bootleggers... it's damn rediculous those people can still sell whatever they want and be so easy to find. I mean, if the bootleggers themselves cannot be caught because they reside in weird countries who-knows-where, ok, I can understand, but this advertising company is German, surely something can be done against these activities of them!

Hmm... you are sure what you are talking about ? You know how Google ADs works ?
I don`t think so. I explain it once for all sake; the advertising company is GOOGLE USA. The program calls itself GOOGLE AdSense and this is now swapping to germany, too.

So, i`ve got the answer; we can filter them. So i need all the links where bootlegs are offered.

Ahem. Please use the PM feature to notify Mb81. :heh:

UPDATE: Actually I just send him a list of 4 main offenders.
If you find more than 4, send it to Mb81. Otherwise I presume I already
found them all. Of course if new ones pop-up in the future, feel free
to revive this thread.

Which four did you send him? All three blocks are bootleggers right now... There is meganime, hktoyz, and surpluseshop.
