Hmm, this could be interesting. That person who did the story also did Mahoromatic, and Shinbo/SHAFT productions are always fun to watch! :D

Youve been brainwashed with Shana vibes, Red haired sword girl existed way before Shana man.
The cover art of the manga has entranced me, so I'll be giving a shot to this anime for that and other two reasons:
1. The production for the animation is made by SHAFT, responsible for Tsukuyomi ~Moon Phase~, Negima!?, and currently, ef- A Tale of Memories.
2. So far I have taken a liking to the story after reading the overview of the entry at Wiki.
I made a topic for the manga~~

I'm pretty much going to watch anything SHAFT do, so I'm looking forward to this, might check out the manga in the meantime if it gets released.

Sounds like the narrator from Kaiji, haha. It does look sort of interesting, I like the character designs, so I'll definitely take a look at this when it's released.

The covers completely turn me off. I hope the contents can have something different from what the covers suggest, since the title name sounds more interesting than how the covers look. :uhoh:
I like the way the manga is drawn. It's very detailed and very clear (no to mention that I also like the artstyle). Story sounds fine (NEED MANGA).
From the trailer it looks as if SHAFT is going to use a color scheme that sort of parallels ef's as opposed the colors used in Tsukuyomi or Sayanora Zetsubo Sensei.
If anyone found that hard to follow. What i'm saying is
-Ef and Shina coloring for their anime is very clear and drawn with light effects
-The other coloring style is much more solid.
I'd love some scanlations of this manga, but for now, knowing that it's Shaft and Shinbo, plus the premise, means that I'm in anyhow.

Hmmm, this look like it'll be worth a glance.
Okay I've now read the first chapter of the manga and this looks like it could be a pretty decent show to watch.
Exoda C. Kurau: Ono Daisuke (should be a pretty good fit for this role)
Garet Fay Sowachu: Tomatsu Haruka (Haven't heard a role from her yet, that changes this spring with this character and To Love Ru's Lala)
Christina Ray Holden: Naduka Kaori (You mean Nazuka right? Anyway I've really liked her roles in the Winter season and she should be right for this)
I've just read the first four chapters. The male lead is quite likable for a harem character. He's not the loser-lead archtype.
I'm looking forward to it.

i like the manga, especially the end of chapter 04.
Its interesting alright, especially who is "Satan" exactly? What is his role? how come he only revives during an eclipse?
And how with the island Shina Dark, survive in a this world that pretty much despise and curse anyone who walks on it?
It's definitely interesting to see this "nation" (for lack of a better word) of just females prosper under the kind rule of a mis-cast "Satan" who probably do PUNISH the EVIL
Which is the point of Satan I might add, always felt sorry for him/it after all you don't call a policeman, judge or undercover agent an EVIL PERSON for bring bad people in and punish them for their sins, now do you?
but besides the point, this manga looks good! i hope the anime does well!
But with only two volumes, i hope they take it easy. cram in a lot of detail, so to stretch 24 episodes from it.
And yeah,Satan is the cool type of Harem male lead.
About time too. :)
Okay I finished the first volume before I went to sleep and I also watched the camrip trailer and now I'm really looking forward to this show. Ayako Kawasumi is perfect for Noël D Bûche btw... also anyone got a link to the non camrip version of the trailer, that previous link has been taken down.

Just read up to chp13.
Looks like there is more to the story (hopefully) then just random Harem hijinks. The manga still haven't hit the main storyline yet. It is still pretty much setting things up, introducing characters and fleshing out the setting.

Noel is describe as the Magical Doll that never stops moving. Basically she is magical ver of a Robot.
As for the butler, he was refer to as the Former Keeper of Darkness and at one part someone refer to the butler as a vampire. Not sure because he is or he because dress like one.

I don't know if it's great that SHAFT is producing this.....or if it's plain perfect that SHAFT is producing this.
Daisuke Ono seems perfect for Krau. Though considering the kindness in the character he is....it will also be kind of funny.

Man somehow I just know this is going to turn into one giant cluster fuck like Negima!?
I've read the manga up to chp 13 (latest I think) and there is A LOT more to it then the harem theme. In fact that aspect doesn't even get brought up after the first few chapters. The whole world (the nations and their back story) setting has potential to be quite epic and I can feel the author intending to make the most of it. After Negima!? I simply don't trust SHAFT when it come to adopting epic stories.

Nice and promising trailer, and I find the song pretty good. I haven't really been up to date on the manga except till chapter 7, though, so even though the story might seem promising, there's always a chance that it could fall flat after the first several episodes, and some people will just stop watching without giving it a chance.
This anime has a lot of potential, they havent made "traditional" like fantasy in a while right?
I'll try to avoid ranting and raving, but this show just has all the potential starting from the rpg cliché jokes to fantasy kingdom simulation.
Pity if it'll be only around 13 episodes, though since the date for the show to start airing hasnt been closed I can only hope the artists will have some time to come up with more stuff.

yes. in the manga, they parody a lot of things, such as diamond studded crowns that has armour protection 16 (same as a heavy knight helmet) but weights much less! and show auctions and such.
its just a fun fun anime.
sure late on it'll get a bit more serious, as rpg parodies can get.

Shaft a hit or miss? They've done alot of good/great shows like Hidamari Sketch, ef, Zoku Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei , Moonphase, Pani Poni Dash!, REC and even negima!? was enjoyable to watch yeah it was different from the manga they made that clear before even the series started but it was still fun to watch especially compared to that 3rd rate negima adapation that Xebec put out. Haven't seen Popotan so I can't comment if that's good or not. Really I can't think of one bad show they've done.
Now if you wanna talk about hit and misses Gonzo would fit the bill perfectly see Dragonaut to see what kind of grabage they can make.

Won't come out during spring that's for sure since Shaft next work is Hidamari Sketch × 365 which will air early in April. Shina Dark will likely air in Fall there's already three volumes of the manga out plus couple of more chapters out as well, should be more then enough it the series is 13 episodes.

Like Westlo said, there is a decent plot, but the fanservice might a bit much for some people.
From what I've read the fan service is only really heavy at the start, so if you watch 1-2 and decide to drop it because of the fanservice don't. Since their really shouldn't be too much more after it. Anyway the dvd rip looks real nice and yay for nips I guess...

From what I've read of the manga, it does indeed look somewhat promising, unless one decides to ignore any indication of the plot pointedly and blame it all on fanservice, or consider the writers simply trying to 'make things look serious but failing miserably'.

I agree, though for some reason there seems to be a bathscene in every chapter, there isn't anything really in your face like R+V Anime.
If there is heaps of fanservice later on it will be at the inclusion of SHAFT, anyway I've had the second song on loop for the last half an hour, also just read chapter 9 of the manga, that plot line is developing nicely and that queen... needs to die.

If there is heaps of fanservice later on it will be at the inclusion of SHAFT, anyway I've had the second song on loop for the last half an hour, also just read chapter 9 of the manga, that plot line is developing nicely and that queen... needs to die.
Personally I dont want her to die more like have some kind of poetic justice done, she is exiled from the country and made to go to shina dark and become Chrisrina's personal servent or something.
Christina's becoming quite the tactician. It'd be cool if she comes back home, takes the throne with a coup and then fights off Vansable. :D
You guys are all rambling on fanservice as if it was a bad thing. D:
Well I personally love fanservice and the artist for the manga, Higa Yukari, has a really sexy art style, so I have no problems with that issue. :D

But the amount of throwbacks that they did in the Negima!? anime and all of the shows before that makes me wonder if they'll be willing to insert references into this one as well... :heh:

Theoretically, it's something that's feared by viewers who want a decent story and instead get something with overwhelming amounts of fanservice overshadowing it.
But if it goes according to the manga, I think Shina Dark ought to be a lot of fun with some balance in terms of seriousness.

Shaft usually does throwbacks in most anime, for Negima!? it had more since they had the creative freedom to do that because it wasn't a direct adaption of the manga. Anyways I see this series being handle similiar to how Shaft/Shinbo did with Moonphase where it had a good mix of comedy and drama.
I don't mind the fan service Bearshare :D I'm just hoping not to be reading about complaints of fan service week in week out even though it has a solid plot behind it.
chp10 and 11 will be focus on garlet and her past.

Pathetic as I may seem, I only happen to recognize the names of Kawasumi Ayako (who doesn't?) and Daisuke Ono. Don't know the rest of them very well...Is it possible to enlighten me on the roles these other seiyuus might have played in the past?
Okay Garnet is being played by Tomatsu Haruka who seems to be a new comer in the last year or so, her first real big role will be as Lala in Xebec's adaption of the SJ manga To Love Ru starting this April.
Christina is being played by Kaori Nazuka who has been around for a while, her biggest role to date is probably Eureka from Eureka Seven. Another role of note is Nunnally Lamperouge from Code Geass, I wasn't really a fan of hers until lately since I've seen her as Hiromi in True Tears, Chloe in Spice and Wolf and I also recently started watching Les Misérables - Shoujo Cosette where she is Cosette. Her upcoming roles this season are Tsubaki in Soul Eater and Yui Kotegawa in To Love Ru.
Vincent's VA is Chad from Bleach, apart from that he has done mainly supporting/extra roles.
What a hard to understand statement... They aren't as bad as Christina's but as bad as Christina's? Are you trying to say that they are as bad as Christina's, but not in the same way?
Garlett's family doesn't care what happens to her and are only concerned with conquest. Christina's family are a bunch of decadents who think nothing can hurt them and splurge money on lavish parties and jewels and so on. And want Christina dead.

May I Ask
when this anime released ?
No release date has been set AFAIK, Hidamari Sketch x365 the sequel to Hidamari Sketch is suppose to air in Summer but I've heard talk recently that it was bumped to Spring, can anyone confirm? SHAFT rarely do 2 shows at once except for winter 07 I think when they where doing the second half of Negima!? as well as the first season of Hidamari Sketch. So I guess you can pencil in Shina Dark for whatever season after Hidamari Sketch x365 airs.

No release date has been set AFAIK, Hidamari Sketch x365 the sequel to Hidamari Sketch is suppose to air in Summer but I've heard talk recently that it was bumped to Spring, can anyone confirm?Nah, it's been Summer 2008 all this time, and was never bumped anywhere. For some reason, people keep getting it wrong. In December people said it was a Winter show, and now they think it's a Spring show. Fact is, it's always been July.
I was sort of surprised that this show didn't air in the Spring, though, given the timing of the preview DVD release, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Summer or Fall are likely guesses, I suppose.
I thought so, nearly every person who said Hidamari Sketch x365 was bumped to Spring either didn't give any proof or even respond when I asked where they saw that. As for the timing of the Preview DVD... I honestly can't remember exactly but didn't the ef dvd promo come out well in advance of Fall 07? Anyway I'm sure Shina Dark will avoid the fate of the Kiddy Grade 2 promo :(

Crazy Shinbo for SHINA DARK is a bad bad idea. It's good for shows like say... Zetsubou and Neuro (( which should've been directed by SHAFTbo )), but not Shina Dark.
A crazy Shina Dark is almost like a crazy Clannad. It loses the subtlety.

I must be the only person who liked Negima!? for it's sheer lack of predictableness. They wasted some plots, I admit, but I think the humor and PPD-esque chaos was well done.
Since this was confirmed to be a CRAAAAZY show I look forward to it all the more, though I still keep the serious manga on my tabs. I'm somewhat irate that it seems to ignore our big Negi Springfield demon for more RPG mockery though...
What's with all the 'crazy' talk? Isnt it just gonna be more or less based on the manga?

Though something semi-related to the show has happened in the past few weeks. "Moon Legend" (one of the songs from the clips) had its full version released on Yuuki Aira's album "Reflection". Very nice song, too.

well the thing is, if you were introduced to Negi by reading the manga, then it is a higher possibility that you will hate the anime.
No matter what you say, the anime does not do the manga any justice.
I just hope they don't do the same with Shiina Dark, i mean there really isn't much for them to dumb down anyway, but i suppose anything is possible....

hmmm right now one of the things i'm most concerned with is the fact that there may not be enough chapters to allow the anime to closely follow the manga.
unless they are going for a 12 or 13 ep series format, they'd definitely run out manga material to animate. In the case that happens the directors only option is to either end it short or create some anime original ending, both won't do the manga justice.
Most of SHAFT's recent works has been 12-13 episodes series, but don't worry they are sequel friendly as second seasons of ZSZ, Hidamari and ef show.
Why did they release that preview DVD almost a year before it actually airs?

'All this crazy talk' is because of who the director will be, Akiyuki Shinbo. If you've at least seen one of his shows, then you'll know what we're on about.
Anyway, nearly everywhere is still saying this show will air in 2008. I can so see it being changed to 2009 just before we hit October though. :(

each chapter is pretty long, so they might be able to make a pretty long episode. if you look at death note (might be a bad comparison, but) each chapter is about 20 pages, and each anime episode is about 2-3 manga chapters, shina dark has about 40 page chapters. then there's sekirei with only 12 episodes, so you never know
how often does the manga release its chapters?
and isn't it weird how ch 14/15 seems to be only like 20 pages when all the other chapters are about 40-50
also, weird how some of the bath scenes reveal the good stuff, while others seem to have steamed/erased the good stuff

I just hope that SHAFT play closely (don't mind if they add a tiny bit) from the Manga onto the Anime. E.g. I don't remember "Satan" gets beaten by Galett when he 1st walked into the steam room full of naked women in the Manga - I only assume they encorporated that in

Also, the main characters seem to be the two girls more so than Satan. At least, that's what it seems like to me.
Shina Dark ignores the old stereotypes of evil demon kings and harems, and turns them over completely.

Still no release date yet? This one's on my 'must watch' list for next year.

Read a page back or two, the anime was never official announced so it's not going to happen. We'll have to wait for an actually announcement.

I don't mind if they decide to drop this one for further release, until they get enough material for a proper anime series.
We have Maria+Holic at the moment already.
So no new news about Shina Dark anime ???
So no new news about Shina Dark anime ???
Nope, none at all.
That's just the trailer that has been around for... nearly a year now?

after chp19, i think everyone would agree that Kawasumi Ayako has to voice Noel.
I get the feeling that all the "anime" talk was just a promotion for the manga and a way to sell some music OAD... Like Hayate x Blade was.

I do agree with that, though it's not like we're going to see the two together anytime soon. :(

No they did make an announcement that an anime was being produced
The anime adaption was announced on November 25, 2007. The series will be directed by Akiyuki Shinbō and will be animated by Shaft. A promotional video was released with the limited edition of manga volume three and in the February 2008 issue that was released on December 21, 2007 of Dengeki Daioh.

That's a load of lies. :)
You won't find any site that tells you those details. Why? Because it never happened
I'm not saying this because i don't want an anime adaptation, i truly do though the fact reminds that the announcement never happened.
It was never officiall announced. The only thing that was announced was the music videos that have already been released.
Man, you guys are KILLING me. Everytime this thread is revived, it makes me think some news about it's tv run came up or something.

Yes, there was an announcement for the anime adaption but they never explicitly said what it is, so MoonPhase mistakenly reported it as TV anime adaption.

This is from February 2008 issue of Dengeki Daioh, the text on the top right explicitly said the anime adaption was music clip anime adaption. The special DVD that comes with this volume is not a promotional material for the anime, but is a sample of the music clip.
So yeah, Shiroth is right.
Please do not post in this thread unless there is actual news or an announcement about the anime. Please read and take note of the recents posts by Shiroth, there has been no official announcement .
If there are any more "when's it coming out", "any news yet", "when's it air" type posts or whinge and whine posts that it hasn't been aired / produced / announced then more Infractions will be issued.
i'll take look at this anime

I hope it gets a series of some kind, 6ep OVA,12-26 ep something anything its better than Sekirei and every other ecchi series that came out in 08 and now... at least anime wise.
I suppose we should know up to a year before production starts but IMO with the glut of ecchi and how the economy is it might be while if ever unless its a cult hit of some kind which I doubt....
Still I'd rather have this than more Sekirei ...though I'd want more Sekirei than any other ecchi show....SHina Dark>Sekirei>anything else... LOL
damn it, stop trolling in this thread :heh: every time someone makes a post here the thread appears in my list and I start anticipating news of when Shina Dark will get animated... only to be disappointed with random posts :(
Technically this thread needs to be closed, since even if a announcement comes there's no reason to mix it up in this confusion.
