Kinda hard to choose since not all the girls got their full stories but up to the current episode, I voted for Tomoya and Kotomi. I probably should've voted for Nagisa too, but oh well.
Darn you Daniel E! *mutters curses @ Daniel* Other than that, I'm making the prediction that Kotomi will run away with this poll. My two other favorites are Tomoyo and Youhei.
Tomoyo because she is self-conscious about her femininity thanks to none other than, yours truly, Youhei. Her kicks doesn't do anything for me, but she does it when Youhei is in the mix.
Youhei because he was the constant inspiration to continue watching the show during the uninspiring Fuko-arc. Yes, some of the jokes are rinse and repeat, but I'm proud of the VA who has found something to add to this, otherwise, mediocre character. Hopefully he will be given a better role to play in the near future with Tomoyo in his arms. I'm allowed to dream.
Kotomi Too many words needed to describe why I'm the fan of this girl whose gag involves blow-up dolls. Yeah, I just like her.

I'll agree that Kotomi is moe and all, but for some reason, she just doesn't "click" with me... [shrugs shoulders].

At first, I thought she was just the cute, moe~, and genius girl every "good" anime needed. Although during the first few episodes, Fuko and Tomoyo were my personal favorites. Fuko because her voice was the cutest one ever, and Tomoyo because... hm... er...
Good question. Maybe the little thing on her head ? :p
I don't know what event exactly made me stick to Kotomi (well, of course the window scene is something to consider, but I think it was before this episode (11th, that is)). There's just something about Kotomi that makes you want to protect her. The scene where she broke down just after seeing the bus made me... speechless. At that very moment, I wished I could jump in my monitor and suddenly turn into a character in Clannad to run towards her, hug her, and pat her head :upset:

Kotomi has the advantage of being the current arc--not that I'm saying she doesn't have the moé. I'd post more screencaps of her conversations, but I'm holding out for the widescreen version.
I say hold off until we at least get into Kyou's arc before you make your decision. Those two characters are my favorites, but they're all very likable in their own way.
Who knows, maybe Sunohara's sister will prove the darkhorse candidate. :p

Tomoyo-sama - When she asked Misae-san for tips, I thought I was dreaming, I mean, Tomoyo BLUSHING! It's Kotomi's arc and all, but that was MOE! ~ She kicks anyone and being femenine :twitch: I don't know how she does that, but anyways, I can see the Yuri Atmosphere around her :love:
Ryou-chan - Cute, caritative and loves her onee-chan. I'd pay to get a sister like her (not that I have a sister, thought).
As for Kotomi, I like her and all, but not one of my favorite characters.

Tomoyo - She looks awsome in that bear constume =D and i think she's pretty cute. Oh and her combo kicks are funny as hell O.O
Kyou - I have no idea why, She's just nice ^_^ Even if she does bully people, I just ike the episodes with her in.
Sunohara - I think its funny how he's always being rejected, Beaten up and having combo's done on him by Tomoyo. oh and his persistance in trying to proove she's a man. :D
Right now my favourite characters are Fuko and Ryou, but I'll wait for the other characters to get their arcs before I vote.
When I first saw Fuko with the knife, I thought "yandere!" but she obviously wouldn't be one, so I wasn't expecting much from her. But in her arc, she was working really hard even when people were forgetting about her. I should hate Fuko because she was like Makoto, who I hate, but I thought they were different. Fuko wasn't as selfish and she wasn't only thinking about herself or her sister, but she also cared about Tomoya and Nagisa and the people she was giving her starfish to.
Ryou is cute and nice too. She reminds me of Tsukasa. I'm not sure what it is about her, but I feel attached to her. ^^;;
The other characters I liked were Mitsui (too bad she was only in Fuko's arc ;-; ) and Nagisa's parents.

Heh, i know its 3 but there my favoruit so far.
Tomoyo - Really loved her reactions and everything when fighting Sunohara, was great.
Ryou - Just so cute :)
Kyou - Not sure why i like her so much, shes just great, he relationship with Tomoya is proboly the reason.
Nagisa might be added as well but i'd like to see her arc first heh.

Kotomi - cause she's just:love:
Ryou - just like with Tsukasa from LS, she's slowly becoming one of my favs
Tomoyo - loved her from the moment she looks up, at Sunohara's comment about her hair band:D
Tomoya - just cause he's so damn lucky to be around all these lasses
and I'll vote other, with other being Misae-san just caused she's voiced by Satsuki Yukino:bow:
altho gotta say I'm very tempted to just pick em all, maybe not very but just plain "yea I wanna pick em all" but I think I'll leave that till the end of the series
Bah, Kyou and Fuko are the only ones that seem to actually have any kind of outward personality and seem like they wouldn't be a chore to be around. Tomoyo doesn't seem like the most outgoing person but she comes across alot better than Nagisa or Kotomi so she'd be a good second. Ryou seems alright too.
I say Kyou's the best girl.
Buu... no love for Fuuko :'( Where is the love for small furry animals?
Kotomi: Mamiko Noto’s voice is so moé. She easily became one of my favorites the moment I heard her soft melodic voice back in episode 2. I don’t know exactly what attracts me to her, but I enjoyed watching her strange antics and the way her story is slowly unfolding.
Kyou: I didn’t precisely like her at first glance, but her conversation with Tomoya in episode 11 blew me away completely. The way she changed the tone of her voice while asking if he would date a girl who cannot help but to be in love with him was something I cannot describe in simple words. You can say it was the moment she stole my heart.
Tomoyo: She is my favorite character and it’s a bit unfair she is not having as much screen time as the other girls :). A student council president wannabe who likes to cosplay as bear, to kick the ass of certain guy with strange hair, and to blush for the sake of the fans behind the screen is easily one of the most likable and yet enjoyable characters I have ever encountered.
I'm glad to see Tomoyo leading despite the fact she hasn’t shown up lately, especially in the last episode. ;)

My votes:
Furukawa Nagisa - For being the best-developed main KEY female lead to this point, far more than her predecessors. There's just something so cute and yet at the same time, so real about this girl, that really hooks me.
Ichinose Kotomi - "My pace", lovely knees and Mami-chan's voice. 'Nuff said, folks.
Fujibayashi Kyou - For almost exactly the same reasons why Hiiragi Kagami is my pick in the "Favourite Lucky Star Main Characters" poll. AND this tsundere darling has a wider repertoire of martial techniques than Miss 1000-Hit Combo. The "dere" side isn't quite as obvious though.....but I'm sure it'll come in its own time. :D
Sunohara Youhei - I mean, this guy's the missing link which would have made Tomoya's predecessors perfect. You've gotta give the guy some credit just for that alone.
Tough choice, for my votes are divided between Tomoya, Kyou, Tomoyo, Kotomi & Fuko. But as for now, Kotomi and Tomoyo currently top my list (unless Kyou demands me to put her in the list or she's going to kick me to curbs :uhoh: ).

Wow very impressed with Tomoyo leading in voting and she hasn't even (or maybe wont, but i hope she does) get her own arc yet.
My other votes were for Nagisa, because she so cute, and Sonohara because he gives Tomoyo someone to beat around.
I'm surprised Kyou is so low in votes compared to Kotomi and Tomoyo. I was certain she'd be 2nd with Kotomi being a close 3rd. But I guess it's natural to have so many votes for Kotomi as we're in the middle of her route right now.

As for my picks ...
Ryou - so far my favorite of the show. Cute, fluffy and somewhat timid and her reactions are cute. It pains me she is not a main character, but oh well - i am happy for every minute of screentime she gets. Too cute to be real :)
Kotomi - i wasn't really drawn to her at start and was expecting to be quite indifferent towards her ... but then the first episode of her arc rolled around and she grew on me at stellar speeds. I might need some insulin after watching her for a while, because she is built of moe ^^
Nagisa - can't put in any better than Ascaloth: "There's just something so cute and yet at the same time, so real about this girl, that really hooks me." I can't help but cheer for her when watching her try and establish the drama club; she just has the demeanor of someone you would want to protect from all harm :p
Sunohara - this crazy guy is simply awesome. The gags he pulls might be repetitive, but the way he presents them cracks me up every single time. Big kudos to his seiyuu, as he is doing a wonderful job in bringing this guy to life.
Kotomi is taking this poll clearly so far. I really don't know how to take this.
Kotomi is, without a doubt, my favorite of the characters. I will likely end up preferring the Tomoyo arc more, but I certainly prefer the character of Kotomi. The thing is, I can't think of any other time that a majority have shared my sentiments on a favorite character. My favorites have always been underappreciated in general.
I suppose I should feel vindicated, but I don't. I suppose I am jealous. :D
I really wonder how general sentiments will change once the Kotomi arc is over.
Well, as of now...
Nagisa - In a way, she is possibly the cutest and most interesting character I have ever seen. Besides, who can argue with antennae?
Tomoyo - She was my favorite before the series, and has only slipped to second because Nagisa surprised me. Her kicks are awesome, and her story looks to be one of the more interesting ones, even though we haven't really gotten into it.
Kotomi - Her story is surprisingly good. And besides, you cannot argue with cuteness. ^_^

I voted these girls for being absolutely adorable:
Nagisa, Kotomi, Fuko and Ryou. They are all moe in their own ways.
Nagisa and Ryou are really great characters, who are not over the top, but can warm your hearts with the innocence and pure simple cuteness.
Kotomi and Fuko are rather extreme, they either annoy you or make you go head over heels. I love their out of this world antics.

I am not voting right now because I think it's entirely too early in the story to do so.
Though if I had to vote on someone, it's something of a tie between Fuuko (I have a friend who's been in a coma for longer than Fuuko's and Ayu's combined, and then a bit more; not to mention, I suspect her state's much worse than either one of them is), Ryou (generally cute), and Kotomi (outright seething with moe, 'specially with those legs 8D~~~).

I'm not at all surprised that Kotomi is currently leading the polls. I AM surprised that she's only winning by 2 votes with only 50% approval. I guess her fans are just extremely outspoken on AS...
If Tomoyo is trailing by only 2 votes with almost no recent development, I really look forward to her landslide in version 2 after her endearing story unfolds. Although it's probably going to lose a lot of impact in the adaptation since clearly Nagisa is the "promised girl".

Tomoya - I don't know why, I just feel that as a male lead he's doing pretty well seeing as most of the time I can stand male leads. Quite cute as well, he needs to get with Nagisa though ;]
Kotomi - MOE.MOE.MOE. Need I say more? I liked her when I was looking at the characters before the series had started and seeing her arc has really made me like her even more. Hugs for kotomi!
Fuko - What's the problem with her and her arc? I enjoyed it, well by enjoyed it generally means I was blubbering into a pile of kleenex at the end. Shame she had to go so early :\ Adorable.

I'm easily amused by Tomoya's and Kyou's tsukkomi acts, and Sunohara proved to be a very likable character with Fuko's arc. I just find the twins likable characters [and I wish I didn't group them together as "the twins", since they're very independent of each other, but it's just shorthand].

There ought to be an 'end of the season' vote to make this a little fairer.
As it stands, I have too many favorites, so the votes don't really count for much. In terms of ranking, though...
1.) Tomoyo Sakagami-I'm a little amazed still, considering the performances from Kyou and Kotomi, two of my other favorite girls. First impressions do matter after all, especially with that kick, that cool attitude yet being fully conscious of her feminity as well as putting into action what she thinks is right i.e. kicking Sunohara away from the crowd during the violin recital.
2.) Kyou/Kotomi-Can't really decide, but it would most probably be Kyou when her arc comes, unless the final part for Kotomi gets to me more. One has a pretty kickass attitude, while the other is simply pure moe and innocence.
3.) Tomoya-For being a wisecracking bastard with dry wit, and being seemingly laid back about most things as well as being helpful. I like his depth of character, especially when he gets all agitated and emotional during the Fuuko and Kotomi arcs.
4.) Sunohara/Nagisa-Can't decide either, because while the former provides most of the laughs in the first quarter of the series, the latter seemed like a pretty nice character who is working hard in her own way. I'm a sucker for diligent types. :p

after watching episode 10-12, i wouldn't be surprised if there was a huge influx of Kotomi supporters x_x
For me its Kotomi & Youhei.
Kotomi reminds me of Mai in Kanon. And Mai was my favorite character in Kanon.
Youhei is just funny and the way he reacts to certain situation is just priceless.
Kotomi, Tomoya and Nagisa are my favorites so far. I like all the characters, but these are ones who stood most out, in my opinion.
As the show progresses, I'm probably going to change my views and add some more, they're all very appealing in one way or another. :)

A cute, but dangerous thing to say. I'm sure the 66.41% of posters here (who didn't vote Nagisa) will disagree with "our favorite couple", especially since they aren't even close to a couple yet. Keep in mind that Nagisa was the only one to really give Tomoya the cold shoulder with "ごめんなさいです。 今食事中ですので。"/"Sorry, I'm eating right now." and just ignored him for a long time. I think Key is the only galge production company who actually creates female leads who are LESS socially capable than the male.
Seeing how many votes Tomoyo has, I cannot wait for her own arc.

I think Tomoyo's charm is the very fact she doesn't have as much screen time as the other girls. Every second she shows up—even if she's wearing a bear costume—is not wasted (we should also add her awesome kicks).
Looking now at the polls, it’s quite sad to see Fuko being almost last, fighting a better position with two people of the supporting cast—Sunohara and Ryou—when her own arc hit the climax a few episodes ago.

Perhaps separate polls for those who're watching the anime v. those who've played the game? That way things are a bit more fair. As I've stated previously, I still think it's entirely too early to start this poll given the sheer story (AND cast) mass of the game and the progress thus far.

- Tomoya for being one the best male leads ever. Though I can't decide which is better, Tomoya or Takeshi from Ever17.
- Nagisa, the best female lead by KEY.
- Tomoya. I like how she's confident and honest with herself, not letting other people's opinion get to her.
- Sunohara. His relationship with Tomoya is hilarious and he has an awesome voice actor.
I also wanted to vote for Kyou and Fuko, but certain things in the game made me not to vote. Still, they're both awesome.
I haven't played through Kotomi's route, so I can't really say anything about her. Neither have I watched the anime. Oh, and I don't like Ryou, plain and simple.
I Voted for Kyou, because she is definitely my favorite of the group. For a 2D girl she's one of the most 3D I know of. She's probably more than a match for Mai Kawasumi in my book but I haven't yet admitted it to myself since I fell in love with her first. . . I would have put Fuuko as a runner-up because I liked her personality, but I kind of neglected to check the box. I also selected "Other" as a vote for Misae.
I have specific reasons why I couldn't even consider Ryou's candidacy. But these are some major plot points and spoiling the game that is the pinnacle of Key's storytelling should be considered an international crime.

As of right now my favourite "heroine" would be Mei Sunohara (Youhei Sunohara's sister).
I don't know if it's just the seiyuu (Yukari Tamura), but I really enjoyed that storyline and Mei was a good character. I was expecting Sunohara's sister to be the typical bossy/pretentious/annoying type but I was pleasantly surprised.
I also like Yukine Miyazawa a lot. I understand why Key decided to make her a secondary character (I'm told she was originally supposed to be a main heroine), but still a good character. She's pretty similar to Sanae Furukawa though.
Youhei Sunohara is also a great character for me so far. He's funny, hilarious even. His gullibility is probably what makes him so funny. One of my favourite moments with him is when you tell him to greet you as if it were a manga flashback. I don't watch too many school fighting anime, but it totally reminded me of Tenjou Tenge and I cracked up.
Another one is when you tell him to greet you like he's an astronaut about to die. "This is Sunohara, I can't return to Earth anymore..."
I also sympathize with him a lot since I was in a similar position in high school (I still kind of am in university...) and whenever you/Tomoya plays pranks on him (the ones that end up with him getting beat up) I feel bad. In that respect, I actually don't like Tomoya that much because he seems to not care. I understand the two have a love-hate friendship but the way Tomoya goes about it kind of rubs me the wrong way.

wow, everyones really clumping together. near the beginning of the poll it was a Kotomi run away with Tomoyo close behind. Now Kyou has taken over second and Nagisa and Tomoya have caught up with only 9 votes separating 4 people.

As for me, being there's 9 choices, I figured picking 1/3 of that wouldn't be a problem. So that means 3 choices, and the definite shoo-in are Sunohara and Kyou. Sunohara is by far my favourite character in the series, as he provides the series with much-needed comic relief, and he does it VERY well. On top of that, he's not your usual comic relief character either, since he impacts the plot and its shown he can be nice and caring whenever he wants to be that nicely contrasts with his comedic self.
Kyou on the otherhand charmed me over with her character design change in the anime, namely her eyes. With that, she looked like a cross between Kagami of Lucky Star and Nayuki of Kanon, both of which are my favourite characters in their respective series. But watching the the first few episodes, even if that weren't the case, she'd still be my favourite female character. She kicks ass (especially in athletics), she's weird in having a boar for a pet, and the trait I find really endearing with her is that she's playing cupid with her sister despite both of them being interested in the same guy. The question of as to whether or not she knows she likes Tomoya is another story, though, and one I'd like to know, thus making her even more itneresting.
The third one's tough though. With my first dealings with Clannad (the manga), I was leaning towards Tomoyo. As with Kyou, she 'kicked ass', and on the run for student council president, a major moe property for me. But in the end, I chose Kotomi, because on top of being quirky and 'tensai shoujo', being osana-najimi is THE moe element in my eyes. Of course, Tomoya wasn't an option, for being not interested in her that way AND forgetting about her at the same time. >_>
I cannot vote, because I love all of them.
Well, somehow I don't really like Ryou as much as others. Maybe she's in Kyou's way, but the OP showed Kyou as a main char so I won't worry.
The best character so far is Tomoya and Kotomi, however I prefer Tomoyo as a main heroine.

Kyou: Her secret interest for Tomoya which often manifests itself during her attempts to hook him up with Ryou is adorable.
Tomoyo: Considering her martial arts prowess, she manages to remain extremely feminine while schooling Sunohara and other misfits. To top it off, her direct and unabashed approach to relationships is refreshing.
I think Kyou hasn't recognize her feeling yet, as far as ep 17, Kyou still think for Ryou. (But the "love" is clearer)
Tomoyo looks like Tomoya's wife already, that's what I think when watching her wake him up =))

No surprise that the tsundere character is the popular one. That sort of character just does well with the American audience, can't say I'm really an exception though.
Regardless, I toss my votes towards Nagisa, Tomoya, and Ryou. Nagisa and Ryou are both great, I enjoy those sorts of sweet and quiet characters. I do really feel like Ryou has been slipping in recent episodes, though. She had a lot of screen time, many lines, and some real character in the early part of the series. Nowadays, it feels like she's just a vehicle to put Kyou next to Tomoya. If things don't change, I could see her sister replacing her in an "End of the series" vote.
Nagisa is just a perfect match for Tomoya, she really seems like the sort of kind and gentle character that could temper Tomoya's mischievous nature without crushing it, and at the same time she seems to bring out the best in him. Similarly, he really helps make Nagisa much more confident, which helps her get further. They compliment eachother so well, and she's such a cute and lovable character that she really has to be in here.
Tomoya is a good example of a male-lead for these sorts of anime. He is kind and helpful, but isn't such a goody two-shoes that it makes you sick to your stomach. In a sense, he's a realistic good guy. He's not perfect, but he tries his best for people and his heart is in the right place. More importantly, though, his sense of humor is awesome. The wit of his character is fantastic.

I already voted earlier, but if I had to vote now. I would have to say Nagisa, Tomoya and Kyou (and maybe Sunohara^^)
For me, Tomoyo comes in first, then a close second with Kyou :D
I love Yukine I wished they made episodes about her story.

Can't believe that no much ppl like Fuko.

Mostly based off the game for me:
Tomoya - For his part in the many jokes and personality. You also get to see that he's really a good person as it gets further in the stories.
Kotomi - Cute personality, funny and good theme music if that counts.
Fuuko - Ditto to Kotomi, as well as one of the best stories.
Ryou - Not sure why, but likeable and was still wishing for her to win even in Kyou's story.
Though she kind of lost out only having a bad ending while all the 'Others' had good endings. Strangely enough proberly the closest chance Tomoya had to make the game break the family-friendly rating was with her also.
Others - Mei Sunohara, Yukine Miyazawa and Kappei Hiiragi (Game only I think?)
Proberly would have voted Youhei Sunohara also except...
Though you find him to be a good person at times in the Mei, Kyou and Koumura routes, you also see him ignore his sister supposedly going to meet a way older guy for a fake girlfriend, pick on those younger than himself for money/food and so on.

Heh did you forget Tomoyo's awesome route? Aside from all the making out they did there's that scene where Tomoyo and Tomoya are alone in Tomoya's house on the floor... No surprise they really did get busy once the all ages thing was lifted in their own game haha. Needless to say Tomoyo's my favorite by far thanks to a variety of factors.
