looking for some broken character that is destroyed and driven only by a pure thrist for vengeance.
example of situation i appreciate :
guts in berserker after the sacrifice ceremonie
lelouch in code geass
ken in hokuto no ken after julia is abducted (i dont particularly like hokuto no ken)

main theme needs to be a vengeance a la Comte de Montecristo (do not even think of recommanding gankutsuou it s a disgrace to Alexandre Dumas)
main character would need to be hatefull and to concider that the end will always justify the mean reguardless of the cost
if the main character ends up forgiving or if he backs off i m not interrested.

thanks for your suggestions.

It's a 'nice boat' anime. romance has nothing to do with it.

As for vengeance... Afro Samurai? lol.

I've seen 11 episodes and I think it does justice to Dumas.

Kaze no Stigma - Kazuma from episodes 20/21 is exactly what you are looking for.

More like one of the bet shows to ever come into existance, and one of the best adaptions ever not to mention advancing the animation medium....

Let's just say GONZO has a strange tendency to flip out and hack in their own ridiculous over the top endings to their so-called 'adaptations' in the last couple of acts. Masterpiece theatre they ain't.

Regardless, it's still one of the better film interpretations of Monte Cristo, if only by virtue of the fact that the others suck far worse than Gankutsuou.

Spaceships: it's set in the future, what's wrong with that? I've already read the novel, it makes it different.

Vampire: He's not actually a vampire and there were rumours of him being a vampire to in the novel as well.

Animation: doesn't really effect the story.

Regardless, it's still one of the better film interpretations of Monte Cristo, if only by virtue of the fact that the others suck far worse than Gankutsuou.
I can kind of forgive the movie (2002), seeing as how the novel was like 100+ chapters.

Baccano! concerns a number of mafia families in the 1930's US. Vengeance comes with the territory.

Vengeance is also a theme that persists throughout Black Lagoon, reaching its peak in the final story arc of season two.

maybe GunGrave? the first half is mostly drama. The vengeance part came at the later half.

sorry i m calm but sasuke may fit in if he wasnt just some emo kid with a total hardon on his bro. *you might have noticed but i dont really like sasuke this is the kind of character way too predictable so i m not really objective on this but let s leave the discusion about naruto aside*.

it was my bad i should have specifie that i m wanted something a bit more mature and dark, my kind of taste in manga are : shamo, eden, blame. i m not saying i dont enjoy a good shounen every once in a while but i d want to see something extremely dark hopeless and unforgiving.
