You talkin' 'bout that full-choir song that makes you want to put on a full suit of armor and fight a battle with swords and blood and glory? :D Yeah I know that one. "Esca, buh-buh-buh-boom, Flowne!" The song "Epistle" from the OST (I think it's the first one) is rousing like that too.

Yoko Kanno also did something like an all-female gregorian chant with Macross Plus's "A Sai En". It's short but golly gee it's powerful. Still gives me goosebumps after listening to it for almost a decade. :heh:

Also, the orchestrated version of Yamato's opening song makes me, a 21st century American, want to hop in a Mitsubishi Zero and kamikaze some white devil aircraft carrier... "Uchuu Senkan.... Ya.. ma... to....." BONZAI!!!!! Hell yeah.

Why are you asking about this? Do you put such music on full blast in your car stereo, close the windows, and sing at the top of your lungs? :nono: Naughty.
But for that, I think it was W. A. Mozart's last piece, the "Requiem Mass", which Yoko Kanno probably got the feeling and sound for the song you spoke of in the OP. That whole mass is fabu awesome and I've been singing along for pritnear 20 years now. :D Go and buy that, classical is usually cheap, and you'll want the whole thing... not just mp3's of pieces of it.

Hi, just stumbled upon this thread while googling around for some Madlax piccies. Deciding to start my post at this forum in the first place, I kinda want to share some of my all-time favourite anime songs here. So here we go:

-Madlax - Galza, Nowhere, Margaret, Madlax, We Are One, Gazth-Sonika, Hitomi no Kakera. Actually, the music of Madlax has owned me even though I don't watch its show often. Thumbs up to Kajiura Yuki and her magical touch of music. Nobody can get wrong with the fact!

-Chrno Crusade - Sayonara Solitia, Azmaria no Zesshou, Azmaria no Uta

-every song sung by Kawasumi Ayako, especially the songs in Mahoromatic (Kaeri Michi, Meido-san Tte Suteki Desu, Maarui Otsuki-sama)

-Mononoke Hime - its opening theme. Forgot its title, though, but the song continues to haunt my mind, even after I no longer watch the anime.

That is the intro song to Serial Experiments Lain, one of the all time greatest animes. I'm not quite sure why the song is so appealing, but it just seems to appeal to me at any given mood.

My favourite anime song would have to be "Chiisana Inori" the ending song to Fruits Basket. It is just so sweet and original with lovely instrumentals. Although it is done by a less well known singer (Okazaki Ritsuko) she does a lovely job of portraying so many emotions that carry onto the listener. Truly a beautiful song ^_^

I loved these two from the moment I heard them... a certain Seed Destiny raw forced me to listen to Re:Sublimity, which made me listen to Agony, which made me watch the anime. So I'm grateful for all the controversy that particular OP-oveerride brought on :D

FictionJunction YUUKA - Akatsuki no Kuruma:
I think few that saw the end of Gundam Seed Episode 40 could argue with this one. This song is just amazing. I liked it before that, but that episode just cemented it as a favourite in my mind.

Minami Kuribayashi - Precious Memories, Rumbling Hearts and Hoshizora no Waltz:
Memories of watching KGNE late at night, all of them. I'm tentatively putting the last episode song 'Kimi ga Nozomu Eien' in this category too, because I'm not sure who actually sung it. All of them are really good songs that suit what they were intended to do, although I don't know if I'd feel the same about them if I hadn't known them in the context of the anime. Of course, I could say that about a lot of anime songs I enjoy, so... I listened to these four so many times during the almighty sulk that proceeded this series.

Mami Kawada - Hisshoku no Sora:
Shakugan no Shana's OP. Yeah, so it sounds like a lot of other I've stuff, I don't care. I like it more than I like the other I've stuff, the music itself is good, and I love Kawada's voice. Especially near the end, it sounds so... warm. That's the only way I know how to put it. It's a shame she didn't do more songs, though I love the Onegai Twins ED, Asu e no Namida, too.

Bubblegum Crisis - Rock me - I was 8 years old and will never forget it... It's special. My first anime music track. I used to rewatch the first VHS all the time, only for Rock me...
Record of Lodoss War - Kaze no Fantasia - I love orchestra and have listened to this one in my early years. Such a heavy but still sweet piece.

To be honest... the current anime epoch is letting my taste in music bloom on it's fullest. The music became excellent and I've got so many faves... There are the Bleach OPs, Shakugan no Shana OP/ED, Basilisk OP, Erementar Gerad OP... and so much more. They'll all become a sweet memory, one day... I hope the anime music will stay as good as it is, atm.

The first opening and ending from Bleach (first season)... I like the rest of the openings and endings but the first ones ware special... it's the only ones I can listen to over and over and over... and the animation in it is top quality... IMO

Next would be the opening from Utawarerumono...
Reason : Well balanced and has good and catchy rhythm to it...

Last but not least would be most of the Mai HiME/Otome songs... the opera rock feel is a very nice touch... hope to see more in future projects...

Honorable Mention : Suzumia Haruhi ending...the music is cool... but the animation on the dance that goes with the lyrics is incredible...
