Episode 15 will be broadcasted this 25th january at 1:55 AM (Japan Time Zone),
which means this 24th january at 4:55PM (GMT 00).
Now the big question. Will this mini arc be about Sunohara, or Nagisa? All will be answered tomorrow.
As for me, I'm praying for Sunohara. Nagisa must not air this season!
Or, will they pull a surprise and do another character? Hm...
To me this episode is a small pause to next arc.

sunohara...i didn't like that arc in the game tbh but with mei in the op, i suppose that's quite possible...lol
pray pray pray praying must pray for sunohara I need him! although i still think he's gonna be combined with tomoyo but i can always pray

I'm just praying for some epic basketball action...don't know what to expect, but that would be very cool.

Well, remember that Tomoya cannot lift his throwing arm past his shoulder. Since he's the main character, I'm assuming he'd be playing. So, maybe it won't be as epic as one would think.
Did it air already? Where them screenshots? I want my weekly prescription of Clannad now!

Awesome! I love seeing this thread. It means the next episode is coming!
Oops, forgive me, I didn't read it properly.
So, after a little research...
It seems like Tomoya doesn't confess to Nagisa, and it is the start of the Sunohara route.

Pictures are available on 2chan.
This line will probably make people jump in joy, but well:
As you probably expected/hoped for, Kotomi is well and stick with the group (so no, she isn't missing because of the oversea studies etc).
here are the headlines of this week episode.
another sequence with the boy and the girl in the outer world. They discuss about another world, while the one they are in is quite lonely
Since Kotomi's issue is solved, people are back on work for the drama club (the whole cast is wearing their summer seifuku)
Koumura sensei is the last teacher they can ask for advice slot for the drama club. However, Nishina Rie and some others girls were also trying to form a chorus club as well. Despite Rie was first some time ago, she wasn't able to accomplish it since they weren't three from the start.
Koumura suggests the drama club to discuss with the chorus club. As Rie is listening to them, her friend Sugisaka is adamantly opposed because it is Rie's dream.
The group (without Youhei) is walking, discussing a bit.
At the dormitory, Youhei receives a phone call but he is absent. Tomoya decides to pick it at his place, for a surprising discussion with Mei :heh:
At school, Tomoya and Youhei notice Nagisa who is reading some kind of letter. It reads "Give up on the drama club. otherwise, you will get through lot of pain". Youhei declares the threat is from the chorus club, but Nagisa can't believe that, being angry at such accusation.
At the end of the afternoon, Sugisaka confronts Nagisa, Tomoya and Youhei, admitting she was the one who wrote that letter.
She explains her reasons and Rie's background, as her violonist dream is shattered due of an accident.
Hence, she beg Nagisa to give up the drama club.
Youhei is extremely angry, asking nagisa not to falter, as such use of an handicap is intolerable.
In the end, Nagisa is too soft and "understands", she will give up.
Nagisa and tomoya discuss a bit about that alone, and it is quite hard for her. As Tomoya is trying to comfort her (confession!?) he is brutally interrupted by...
Kyou who is also not pleased by Nagisa's decision
Later on the day, Youhei rants like hell about that
Both tomoya and youhei ask advice to Yukine as result.
Meanwhile, Tomoyo is harassed by the judo captain and vice captain. They would like her to join the club considering her sportive attributes and skills, but she is very reluctant, as she has student council presidence to attain. nothing can stop them until...
Fuuko appears! Tomoya is quite dumbfounded, while it seems fuuko could break the situation somehow.
the netx day, youhei is triumphant and suggest a basket ball 3 on 3 to show off, defeating the chorus club in term of handicap or such. Obviously this doesn't please Tomoya considering his injury, but youhei is downright confident.
Tomoya is quite annoyed by this and tries to use Nagisa at his advantage. He tells her that... youhei is gay ! She is obviously flustered and wants to protect tomoya :heh:
This lead to a complicated revelation which shatter youhei in tears !
As Tomoya and Nagisa are quite dumbfounded, a unexpected visitor arrives... it is Mei !HOLY COW, that's a LOT of things they covered and the pace seems right.
Seriously it is a very nice follow up, keeping the flow for the casual days!

Hmm, Sunohara's arc eh? It's good that it'll be focused on him a bit more.
Just seen the episode on nicovideo
I always thought the anime didn't do the humour scenes involving Sunohara the proper justice they deserve, but this episode really nailed it for me.
It's nice to see that Kotomi is still around, but of course her role is pretty limited.
This episode jumped between scenes a bit too much, but like Klashikari mentioned, there was a ton of stuff from various routes covered.
I was sort of expecting a bit of Tomoyo's routes during these 2 episodes, but Kyou too?

No Tomoya - Nagisa love? :(
Good KyotoAnimation! Finally a company that does good arc interweaving. This is how visual novels with multiple paths adaptations should be done. Down with the modularized approach! Down with Tannenbaum! Long live Torvalds! :p
Though I have to accept that Kyou's intermission there was the most unexpected thing ever. With only that she beats Fuuko's random appearances by miles :p But again, seeing well planned original material will be interesting

Sounds kind of like Studio Barcelona did with Kodomo No Jikan. There arc "interweaving" frequently worked out for the best and surprised me as well so I guess that makes two companies that do it well (though that was a Manga).
Still on this front it amazes me that this concept rarely occurs to studios that are doing VN adaptations.

Well a bit late:
This episode was really finely blend, just like what ProtoMan said earlier. The scripters did an excellent job in entwining 3 arcs with 5-6 other characters which weren't involved in the original game. The result is quite naturally flowing, though one might complain about the fast pace on some parts.
The other very nice points were the significant quality here (constant and largely above the average one of CLANNAD, On par with episode 1 and 2), but also the outstanding seiyuu job here (kudos to Nakahara Mai who gave a plethora of Nagisa's personality sides, while Sakaguchi Daisuke gave a very convincing Youhei, which even beat his game performance: "handicap" speech and the "confession").
And the arrival of "that" character is really great news (but not really a surprise)... I'm really looking forward to the next episode
Really, It is really a good thing to have played the game: you still can be surprised by the scripters and animators stunts, and it is really giving justice to the original material
This episode earned a 10 hands down.

Episode 15: Summary and Screencaps (http://animehistory.wordpress.com/2008/01/24/clannad-episode-15/)
Good episode like always. Quick simple fast thoughts:
Nagisa pissed me off for a bit, but in the end redeemed herself and became quite cuter than usual.
Fuuko is freakin awesome with randomness like always!
Sunohara had an intense moment...not a complete comic relief character but one with actual character foundation. I think this episode went to him for his one intense moment, but Nagisa's action at the end was pretty good too.
Okazaki had some sinister eyes for a moment, I'm guessing he has one dark side to him.
More Okazaki X Nagisa moments or Okazaki X Kyou momens!!!!! Either one of those 2 match up is good for me.
Next episode looks to be a real laugh, can't wait!

Wow...and people say Nagisa doesn't protect her territory. Just because of this episode, I'm really looking forward to her arc.
Tomoyo's arc is also starting, but that's what I didn't like about this episode, too much intertwining of the arcs. Nagisa more than earned this a 10 though.

Intense Sunohara is INTENSE. Why is Tomoya such a jerk to such a good pal?
Nagisa marking her territory was awesome, however, and if Clannad is really just a 24 episode series, KyoAni's route intertwining was amazing.
Lol, Gyroid, nice pic :P
Suddenly alot more interested in this episode, shame it's not widescreen though.

Damn, I completely failed to notice, far too busy LMAO...props to KyoAni for the amazing detail.
I really like Yohei now. It's nice to see his serious side come out and learn more about his background. Felt natural (ie, not forced) how it all went down. The short bits with the other girls didn't feel out of place here what with no real character focus among them, and it was nice seeing them all again for the handful of lines they were given. Also, for Kotomi who seemed to have confessed just a week ago, just one line and a bit appearance this week seem quite lacking--like opening a box of chocolates only to find a half-dipped raisin surrounded by packing confetti. But I dunno. Who's hoping for an original Rie arc? Mutual angst can be the seeds of a blossoming mutual love~
On a side note... Is anyone else here sick of hearing Tamura Yukari's voice? She seems to be bloody everywhere recently.

She is everywhere, but she's one of those voice actors I cannot stop loving. She just has so many different voices. Nakahara Mai is another one that is everywhere but just has so many different voices.
Ah well. Alarm is set for 7:30 AM. T minus 10 hours until I can see this. ^_^

Lots of good comments on a fine episode. I thought Nakahara Mai was outstanding. I thought the animation was outstanding. I thought the touches with all the girls worked beautifully -- although I know nothing of the game, so that might affect my opinion. And I love Tamura Yukari as a seiyuu, so I was thrilled to see her appear there at the end, just in time for next week. She's no Kuwashima Houko or Yukino Satsuki as a serious actress (not that they were called on for that in this episode), but she does what she does extremely well. As does Nakahara Mai. Mmmm. Nagisa ftw.

Who knows, but I can mention that there are inconsistencies with where the juice box landed just before the eyecatch (noticed this while typesetting the box during its movement).
And I didn't catch the messed up antennae either. Nagisa has had a Sanae Moment(tm). :heh:

That was like smashed full of people 0_0 god we have sunohara route coming up. Mixed like everyone crammed in there XD Mei apperance too ^-^ I just wonder where Kappei is....
Really amusing episode can't wait to see how they mix it up next. Some highly enjoyable scenes I tried to block the random fuko out >.< like what the hell...guess it was to make tomoya look less like a player XD
It wasn't excellent to me as there was so many people in one episode so it moves to a 9, but then fuko knocks off a point (it was so out of place...) and then it just averages out to an 8...

Might be because I did the Sunohara route in the game but...
They changed the reason why Sunohara was no longer in the soccer club ever so slightly so that Sunohara was booted from the club for reasons beyond his control in the anime...however in the game itself it was due to his own doing so I couldn't take his anime "serious" scene seriously...if anything, it pissed me off.
on another note,
was this Yukine's first appearance in the anime? I really enjoyed her arc in-game

Yukine had 5 (very brief) appearances already if I remember correctly.
1. Sometime in ep 3 or 4 when Tomoya was helping Nagisa with her speech for the drama club.
2. At the end of the same episode, when they were wondering where their poster for the drama club was.
3. When Fuko gave her a starfish.
4. Kouko's wedding.
5. Tomoya invited Yukine to Kotomi's violin recital.

Watched the TWH-Sprocket sub of Episode 15.
Well....it's a case of "CLANNAD: Pure LMAO". The Sunohara development was really great though; I hope it will eventually make up for what he lost with the end of the Fuuko arc. There's clearly more to this guy than what he shows on the surface.

Man, I was on the floor laughing my ass off during the last 2 minutes before the credits.
Wow, the conversation between nagisa and sunohara did sound like Sunohara "wanted" Tomoya, just that the "wanted" was perceived as "wanting tomoya for basketball" vs "wanting tomoya to errrr........ you know that territory is beyond me, being a guy and all". But I was laughing at how bold yet cute Nagisa was stuttering that Tomoya was her boyfriend. That look on Tomoya's face was awesome, but the look on nagisa's face was even better when Tomoya told her that Sunohara wanted to be his lover. Believe me, a lightning bolt flashed behind me here too in shock.....it wasn't pretty...
Anyways great episode, can't wait to see the next episode, seems like alot of the girls are interested in the fact that tomoya isn't going out with anyone, haha tomoya you dog!! Btw, I loved that last scene

Nope, as far as the anime goes, they only explained how he "quit" the soccer club.
In the game it was at first as vague as the anime goes, using the "quit" instead of what you know. They never explained how the brawl started so it is not altering the original material.
as a small trivia: they even used the "starfish heat attack!!" just like in the game :heh: (though it was used in another type of pinch XD)

since watching the the pre view of this ep i was wondering what will kyoani do
having played the game a little i knew that this ep would have nagisa giving up on the drama club
i also knew that in the game that was followd by the choice
either tomoya stands up and holds her while she crys and then confesses to her
or he doesnt
and watching this ep i was wondering what route kyoani would take
from a logical stand point this cant be the time for him to tell her he loves her (the show is only half way over)
from a character development stand point however its not possible for tomoya to just let her stand and cry alone giving how close they were portreyd in the show so far
unlike kanon where ayu and u1's relationship that seems abrapt
nagisa and tomoya from day one have been moving to this one moment
and i was waiting to see how kyo ani would do this
how to solve this dilema
how to have your cake and eat it to
and they did this in a very sudden and shocking way
was it the best resolt ? - i dont think so
but was it possible to do it any other way ?
was it possible to let nagisa and tomoya have their tender moment and not kill any way to tell the rest of the girls story's in any other way ?
not a chance
bravo to kyoani
great ep in every way
my favorite

Bravo also to the preview for ep16.
Will the girls really ask Tomoya those questions? Maybe Yukine has something to do with it?...;)
This episode was a stroke of pure genious. It seemed to cover everything that happens in the game before deviating into one of the respective arcs, so I have to applaud them for that.
The Tomoyo bit seemed to be a little out of place, but I suppose they do need to start developing her a bit before her arc. And it seems like it'll be even moreso next week. :)
The Kyou interuption of the Nagisa X Tomoya was a complete surprise. Ah well, guess she's just too jealous. :p
And, ah! It's Mei! I guess the Sunohara arc begins. :)
There is no way that I cannot give this episode a 10. I had a few disappointments from the start of the epiosde (No rediculously beautiful music arrangements like the start of Kotomi-chan), and from the fact that I spoiled myself accidentally while playing Fuuko's route in the game, but those are not reasons to downgrade it.
Now, to see if there are 3 or 4 light orbs next week.
Also, does it seem like the waits between episodes are getting longer and longer, and the episodes themselves are getting shorter and shorter? :'(

Pretty nice ep though the thing with fuko is getting old
Sunohara getting more development is a good thing. I take back before what I said about him being a clown. Well he is still a clown but at least one with a personality :p
Tomoya is still the trickster that he is...I lawled when he told nagisa that sunohara loves him though it was fairly obvious that he was going to say that one of these days. Nagisa's reaction was unexpected though :uhoh:
Needs more tomoyo for one thing! and from the preview, it seems like the romance is just starting :D
Great episode. After the Fuuko and the Kotomi arc were very straight suddenly the story unfolds and seems to cover more arcs simultaneously.

Wow, they actually managed to stuffed all the little bits in without making me feel like I'm missing anything, almost every character, bar Akio and Sanae, gets some screentime today. Even Fuuko returned for her second cameo.
The story came very, very close to a "point of no return flag" for Nagisa's story. ("Flag" as in crucial choice, where once you score that flag, you're stuck in Nagisa's story and she'll be your girl for the rest of the journey. ) The way they got through that flag so subtly without effecting the overall story of the other girls was, just, "Bravo".
Yes, as exaggerated as it may sound, I'm using the word "Bravo" to describe this effort by Kyo-Ani. They've obviously learned a lot since what some perceive to be their disastrous handling of the pacing in Kanon.
Oh god, Sunohara must "love" Tomoya so much as to even harass him while he's taking a shit. LMAO
Poor thing. The shock fried her antennas.

LOL, yeah, I noticed that as well.
For those who are keen enough to notice Tamura Yukari as Sunohara's sister Mei, here's some interesting trivia:
She and Kawakami Tomoko are now the only seiyuus to feature in all three of Kyo-Ani's KEY adaptation.
Tamura Yukari: Michiru (AIR), Kawasumi Mai (Kanon), Sunohara Mei (CLANNAD)
Kawakami Tomoko: Kamio Misuzu (AIR), Kurata Sayuri (Kanon), Girl in Illusionary World (CLANNAD)

The moment Nagisa and Mei met with their eyes, they suddenly realized a hidden connection between them.
Nagisa: Do you know Oyashiro-sama?

Episode 15.5: When They Cry
Anyways...back on topic. xD I always loved Sakaguchi-san's performances. He really makes Sunohara so entertaining but also was excellent at pulling off his serious side. I'm looking forward to more shenanigans from that delinquent. :D

3 Things that destroyed me in this episode.
1. Fuuko apperiance with the Starfish Heat attack! :D:D
2. Sunohara's "Lets play basketball!" with the toilet scene :D

Perfect, just a perfect episode. There was drama, love, fun, comedy, nearly the whole main cast showed up from Fuuko till Tomoyo. I like this episode so much i will overlook the fact that Kotomi arc was just toooo short(nevertheless i was a great arc)...

Still, great episode. Could have done without the second random Fuuko moment, though Sunohara chasing Tomoya around (on the toilet!), Tomoyo saying that Tomoya is a cool guy, and the whole ending scene made up for it.
I like how the preview alone focuses on Tomoya and this imaginary realtionship, though you can see what will happen thanks to the episode title.

Either way it was still a great episode, Kyou was a total mood killer though heh.
Looking forward to next weeks, hope it's Tomoyo's arc.
ep15 was pretty good
the joke he made about sunohara was akward but it did serve for nagisa to say more how she felt about tomoya even if theyre still denyiny their feelings. finally tomoyo comes back :D though i dont know if theyre going to focus on her now. im getting a bit annoyed with fuuko's random appearances. the only time i wont mind that fuuko comes back is when she wakes up from the coma.
it looks like there might a few arcs that are going to be covered in the next few eps. is there any indication that theyre going to focus on any particular character at the end of ep 15?

Wow, that episode got me laughing quite a bit...and it was nice to see Sunohara's serious side.
Still hoping for an epic basketball match next episode. Or at least epically animated.

Anyone notice the summer uniforms are a weeny bit too similar to Evangelion's?
Eva-like uniforms aside, I must've been too much of a Ryou-admirer to actually notice she's not wearing her over-knee stockings in summer, though her sister still does. I felt empty for a moment there. :heh:

I don't think they're going to focus on anyone in particular just yet, based on the ep16 preview. I'm guessing the following 3 will be intertwined:
-Sakagami Tomoyo
-Fujibayashi Kyo
-Sunohara Mei (from the Nagisawa arc, not the Sunohara sibling arc)
Maybe...2~3eps worth?
From there, my guess is probably into the remainder of the Nagisa arc...tie-in into the dream(?) world and Nagisa's OP sequence shot, etc.
It's a little unfortunate that a lot's being crammed into 24eps...the Fujibayashi sibling arc, from a story standpoint, is really good (though Kappei is annoying as a character).

it really is too bad that it only 24 eps. doesnt look like they can go too dept into the characters pasts bc sunohara mei. imo they were forced to do this because they too much time on fuuko. even so this seems to have been on a tight schedule from ep 1: nagisa, fuuko, kotomi, tomoyo, kyou, dream world.

. . .
You misunderstood what I said: the game never described AT FIRST how Youhei quit the soccer club.
Also, the anime didn't give the complete and accurate explanation. Hence why I said the anime didn't ruin the original material at all.
Obviously, the whole explanation will be given during Youhei's arc, but again, don't conclude things too quickly, just because they give a vague summary of a character's background.

it was pretty clear from the first few days of the game [...]....yes, the more specific reason came to light during the Sunohara sibling arc, but it doesn't change the fact [..]. He's more or less a superficial character who runs around primarily with his own interest in mind, more than anything. Even in the Sunohara/Mei arc, which arguably shows a better side of him, was rather shallow.
The vagary they added was horrible in that they tried to give depth to a character who's just shallow, period.
woooot best episode ever the anime is finally getting to the point i was waiting for- still wtf was with that fuko moment ruined the entire episode for me i hated that unnecessarily long 5 episode arc and i hate that character even more. they better make a 2nd season cause i will not accept them squeezing my favorite part into so few eps with the focus on other characters as well

I think it would be reserved to youhei's thread. that said, from the point of view of both the game and anime, I cannot agree with "youhei is a shallow character". Considering what he contributed to the cast aside of his comic relief and selfish moments, he is one of the pillar of the story.
I can't decently expect Nagisa's, Kyou's, Tomoyo's and Mei's routes without him. In fact, he is sometimes even better than Tomoya in many aspects. Feel free to disagree, but if you want to discuss further about him, please either use the game thread or the character discussion thread.

Things I liked
------------------
Sunohara's "You can't hide behind your handicap" speech.
Fuuko's non-sensical entry
Tomoya's "Sunohara is gay" speech (even funnier since I've already heard that conversation in the game)

This episode was refreshingly comical after some of the rather depressing moments in Kotomi's arc. Tomoya's phone conversation with Mei was superb including some of the funniest voice acting and dialogue I've seen all season:
Mei: "Hello? Is that you, Onii-chan?"
Tomoya: "Yes. Your brother Sunohara Youhei, the greatest failure in life speaking."
Mei: "You know onii-chan, I'm planning to visit you day after tomorrow."
Tomoya: "Sorry my sister. Right now, I'm actually behind bars. I got caught doing womething stupid."
Mei: "What do you want me to bring you?"
Tomoya: "A clay doll."

Omg awesome ep!!!! Seriously though Who'd though Sunohora had that in him? I though he was just a comic relief but he proved himself wrong. Although i really don't get why Sunohora is so pissed off since he wasn't handicapped cause didn't he get kicked out because he got into a fight? I think the person who should be pissed in Tomoya who is actually handicapped!
Also the ending where Nagisa said that Tomoya is her boyfriend i was like wow talk about out of nowhere lol! I know it was to supposedly get Sunohora to give up on his "love" for Tomoya but that was just too funny!
We got to see a bit of Tomoyo this ep which was nice, for a second there i though they axed her or something.
The preview looks interesting as we see Kyou and Ryou moving in on the opportunity that Tomoya doesn't have a girlfriend. Also is it just me or do you wonder why Tomoyo asked that question in the first place *wink* *wink*.. Ashame though cause Tomoya and Nagisa has already made Sunohora's room their "love nest"

No in fact, Youhei understands very well about how it is to give up on one's dream because of an accident or wrong doing, just like how Tomoya had or Rie.
However, such point doesn't matter with anyone else, hence Nagisa shouldn't give up on her dream just because of someone else. Youhei knows how it is regretful to lose his dream because of an event, hence dropping the drama club because of a external reason is something he cannot allow not forgive.
That's what Tomoya tried to explain to her, because Nagisa has much more reasons and circumstances to fulfill her dream than him.

Heh. Yeah, it was 9 degrees this morning. Though, we don't have any snow here, other than the giant "VT" on the drillfield made of snow.
For the speculation, I honestly don't know anymore. They have a lot of routes to cover in 9 episodes. If they only do the 3 main girls and after story, it's now at 2.25 episodes a route. We started at 4 episodes a route to begin with.

It was my understanding that Sunohara was angry on Tomoya's behalf, he obviously knows about Tomoya's shoulder (he said that he knows Tomora can't shoot).
And I was surprised, Sunohara actually has a first name.

Serious lols in this episode. It's comedy where this show is hitting it out of the park. Okazaki is such a manipulative bastard. I love it.
Nagisa and Okazaki continue to grow closer and closer, but I do want to see them take the next step sometime soon. And it probably would have happened had Kyou not interrupted (*sigh*). The scene at the end was a great one, though. Of all the ways Nagisa could have chosen to protect Okazaki from Sunohara, that was the first one to enter her mind.
I wouldn't mind seeing a more mixed approach to how they're approaching the arcs in this. It works for Kimikiss, that's for sure. Although, from what I've heard, loyalty isn't really a priority in Kimikiss like it is here.

-Great episode. Sunohara was awesome as usual, as was Tomoya. You don't often get a helpful guy who actually uses up all his savings for the sake of a friend, helps and comforts others as well as being such a manipulative bastard. :heh: On the other hand, aside from the basic Sunohar-ian humor, I quite like the serious side there is to him. Adds more depth to his character and makes him even more likeable in a way. I was quite certain that when he shouted his indignance to Sugisaka's plea that he was doing it for both himself and Tomoya.
-Doguu? What the hell? :heh: Wonder why Sunohara hasn't tried to get back at Tomoya for all the wonderful things the latter has done to him. Freaking out cat was somewhat amusing too.
-The part about him hounding Tomoya was hilarious (talk about stalking him in the toilet for basketball fun :heh: ) What resulted was even more entertaining, and finally gave a greater feeling that Tomoya and Nagisa are actually getting closer.
-To tell the truth, while it was kinda nice to see Fuuko once again, her appearance and significance wasn't all that great. Tomoya could have done it, and his staring-off with the Judo captain makes me think that he might have actually been quite the delinquent as the behavior he's displayed so far was nowhere close to this.
-I noticed the focus of this episode was on Sunohara and Nagisa, so I'm actually glad they showed the seemingly random scenario with Tomoyo. Hounded not only by Sunohara, but other clubs as well. Just in case of the 'ice queen' label, she seems to be warming up to Tomoya as shown in the episode, and probably the preview.
Speaking of which, it suddenly seems like Tomoya is the focus of speculation for relationships. Hmm...Somehow some of the gang are going to go ahead with Sunohara's madcap plan borne of Yukine. Wonder what's going to happen, now that we've got Mei in the mix too? :)
*First it's Mamiko Noto, Nakahara Mai and Kuwashima Houko, and nowTamura Yukari in the show. Lovely. :eyespin:
9/10.

I was impressed. Nagisa restrained Youhei to protect Tomoya and even said he was her boyfriend. That girl is not a wimp. :heh:
Tomoya and Nagisa are at the love shack in the next episode. :naughty: ;)
I think that Nagisa has it right. You're not suppose to realise your dreams by stepping on someone else's. There should be a way for both of them to get what they want.
I so wanted to shoot Kyou. A Tomoya x Nagisa moment ruined by her interrupting it. :frustrated: Come on Tomoya! Be the man and kiss Nagisa. It's episode 15 already. :heh:

Definitely an outstanding episode. I didn't like Kotomi's arc a lot but now getting back to this episode--it really is full of wins. The most particular moment I like is when Nagisa gives up forming the theater club to help the Choir Club (I'd say most of the credits of the goodness for that scene goes to Sunohara, and now I'm getting more and more in love with the soundtrack). After that it's the Sunohara vs Nagisa fight over Tomoya--Sunohara's tone of voice makes Tomoya's lie sounds so real. :heh:
At the point where Tomoya was comforting Nagisa, the mood was perfect. The music, the scenery, the situation.
And then Kyou showed up and I was like: Stupid ***** GTFO! AMFG
sigh...
I loved Tomoya's reaction when they did get interrupted though :p
On Sunohara, can you honestly have a better side character than that guy? He's serious when he needs to, and freaking hilarious when he's not! That and he meshes well with Tomoya's manipulative joke-telling. (well almost all of his friends are gullible actually) :heh:
At the end, Nagisa squealing すみません! was cute. And then Tomoya's final "Thank you, I was happy" sort of made up for Kyou's interruption. :)

Hm. This might be a question to the game-players, but... is Fuko basically stalking Tomoya? I'd understand if it was just following her friends around, but it's kind of scary if you think about it as her being one step behind Tomoya like a haunting spirit or some loli god.

Nine. This anime has managed to make me laugh a lot even though it isn't really ment to be a comedy. And yet another time where Fuko was no use to anyone :D I can also see some more development between Nagisa and Tomoya.
Okazuki = 9 points for using his tricks and showing who owns this show.

Sunohara = 10 for being himself too well.

the first time i gave a 10 to an episode. the kind of okazaki humour that i like so much is back. i cant believe he actually told nagisa that sunohara actually loved him. and sunohara's reaction at nagisa's lie really made the crap that tomoya said seem real.
the timing that sunohara's sister showed up is just so untimely....if she hadnt shown up, who knows tomoya would have confessed to nagisa good and proper instead of the uncertain feeling between them.
sunohara is seldom so enthusiastic and determined :heh:

Sakaguchi Daisuke's performance does give Youhei's character that much more life, from his pain about lost dreams to his funny side. Extra bonus for doing Youhei's trademark "HEH?!" so well. :D That said, Nakahara Mai 's part with Nagisa at the end really does have the shine of a top VA. :)
Such a cruel way to turn Sunohara down. She sent him bawling. :heh: Nagisa doesn't play around when it comes to her man, and here I thought she is a wimpy cry-baby. Some positive points toward her character in this episode although her character has yet to win me over.
This line will probably make people jump in joy, but well:
As you probably expected/hoped for, Kotomi is well and stick with the group (so no, she isn't missing because of the oversea studies etc).
Wasn't that made clear in episode 14 that Kotomi wasn't going to go anywhere? :) Kotomi received her gift, the violin, personally and since the violin had needed at least a few months to fix, she had to be staying. I think it was mentioned that the violin would have needed at lest 6 months to a year to fix.

But the violin scene is quite vague, because it either doesn't belong to the same time line, or it is quite a "miracle".
Time wise, it is impossible that the present jumps several months after Kotomi's arc.
I just thought Kotomi would have left for America at the end of episode 14.

True. The time-line does jumbles the continuity of things when the time it took to repair the violin is taken into account. The show itself doesn't seem to bother about giving out a clear indication of the passage of time, not that I think the clear indication of the flow of time is anything of importance in relation to the content. Watching episode 15, there was one indication that some time has passed when Nishina Rie's name was mentioned at the beginning of the episode. We can see from Kotomi's reaction that it has been a while she heard that name after the time she borrowed that violin from Nishina. So even if a 3-4 months have passed between episode 14 and 15, nothing of importance really happened to highlight those moments in an episode. :) Continuity remains, and we get our Clannad fix as usual.
Ahh Sunohara is back and I'm enjoying Clannad again, what a coincidence. :p

Hm. This might be a question to the game-players, but... is Fuko basically stalking Tomoya? I'd understand if it was just following her friends around, but it's kind of scary if you think about it as her being one step behind Tomoya like a haunting spirit or some loli god.
Tomoya has mastered the summon mahou shojou Fuko, just a shame she doesn't do anything when she arrives.
Got to say hats off to Sunohara, for a bunch of bad boys, they really are a lot nicer then the "nice" people are. The judo club are just selfish and the carol girl was plain underhanded.
I am missing Sunohara V the bear, I want his little sister to see him get sent into orbit by Tomoyo :p
I was LOLing so hard at the fight for Tomoya, but I was so impressed with Nagisa, I'm pretty impressed with this type of "confession" :heh:
I'm really glad to see that Kotomi didn't leg it.
The main carol girl seems rather nice, and I think because Nagisa is so nice, that they will end up compromising. I can't see why the carol service can't have a theatre section to act out the songs, or the theatre club have a carol service to do some musicals.

Fuuko's "summoning" scenes were indeed in the game.
Basically, once you finished Fuuko's route with all pranks done (Fuuko Master + Fuuko Ninja titles), Fuuko will make many nonsensical apparitions in Tomoyo's route. If some complain she is quite random in the anime, she is way worse in the game :heh:
The "Starfish Heat Attack!!!" directly comes from one of these "summons". And obviously, none of said characters have a clue about what's going on with that girl.
Well now, this episode i liked quite a bit. Once again Clannad proves to be at its best when it comes to comedy. The jokes were awesome, and although i knew it was coming i still busted a gut at Tomoya making stuff up about Youhei being gay and Nagisa trying to "protect" him :p ... Tomoya sure knows how to spew out serious amounts of crap with a straight face :heh:
Sunohara getting angry was also well done ... this guy is seriously worth half of Clannad on his own. Although normally being ...well, Sunohara, he still has plenty of depth and seriousness when needed to.
Its good to see Tomoyo is still alive ... i almost thought they had forgotten she is still alive. Though thats the minor problem i had with her appearance - it almost looked random just to let people know she is indeed still alive. I hope she gets some more screentime soon, because she is severally left out.
The were two things i didn't like about this episode though. First is yet another random Fuko appearance ... it is not funny; it is simply annoying and cheapens her ending (not like i ever liked it in the first place though). Why can't that thing stay dead ... or in coma or wherever she is supposed to be, just as long as i don't have to see her random appearances. I don't care that the game has them as well - that doesn't make them any less lame.
Second is Kyou ... god damn, she just had to pop up at exactly that moment between Nagisa and Tomoya ... i have never been as annoyed by her as i am now since this ep :heh:
Overall a very good episode though, lets see where this goes. 9 -1 for Fuko = 8/10 from me

Is it just me or is the Illusionary world in this episode have better animation compared to the rest of the episode (it's almost as if the girl in the I. world was animated differently)
It is glaringly better compared to the rest of the episode. The animation during the "other world" scenes is so smooth it almost looks surreal :p To give a comparison - each second in Clannad has about 10-12 unique frames (Which is quite high in itself, considering that most of the time the number is 8). The other world scenes have 24 unique frames per second. Yes, thats twice (or more) the amount compared to the rest of the episode ...and it shows :)

Is it wrong that I actually like Fuko's random appearances?
This episode was amazing, and the gigantic, yet well-done turnaround of serious to funny midway shows how amazingly awesome KyoAni really is.

This was a really interesting episode and it's at a breakneck pace. Sunohara Youhei has won over the hearts and minds of otaku aplenty, whose minds take in the mind-boggling confession scene in the end, with the memories of Ito Makoto's Nice boat still fresh. Nagisa's sudden assertiveness, the emotional response of Sunohara, the 'indecisiveness' of Tomoya who keeps sending signals to the Fujibayashi twin and Tomoyo make for a maelstrom of melodrama. XD

Skyfall, almost every episode of any anime I watch, you say basically everything that runs through my mind during it. It's scary.
Anyways I was surprised to actually enjoy an episode of Clannad a lot, as I haven't since episode 2... The strong point in this show really does have a lot to do with the comedy, I liked the Sunohara scene quite a bit.
Ah, and like Skyfall it would've been a 9, but since I really hate Fuko it became an 8 for me.

Wow...you keep track of all that?
From the looks of it, Tomoyo's arc may not be far off.... but how would they incorporate that? It seems they'd probably alter quite a few of the routes for the sake of adaptation....
Probably...but let's keep in mind, KyoAni could have arcs running parallel to each other.
Granted, all the Fuko references imply that so far, plus Kotomi's presence in the Theater Club, the show so far has been linear up to now, but there's no reason to expect that from here on in, everything will continue to be the same.
Remember, this is NOT Kanon. The way KyoAni played Kanon ensured a linear progression. They did THAT by removing each of the relevant characters to the arc at the end, and making no appearances thereafter.
To sum up: from here on in, we COULD have character-central arcs that run concurrently with each other: Tomoyo and Nagisa's arc COULD be, in theory, happening at the same time...
I am missing Sunohara V the bear, I want his little sister to see him get sent into orbit by Tomoyo :p

ENOUGH HIGURASHI JOKES!!
Okay, now on to my part of this discussion...
Judging from both THIS thread, past episode discussion threads, and the General Discussion thread, the biggest concern right now is over what KyoAni is going to do with the 9 episodes they have left...
First Thing: I don't believe they'll cover the After Story Arc. From where I sit, it makes the most sense - the majority of the story is in the School Life Arc. Plus, Kanon barely had enough time to cover all of ITS material in 24 episodes, and CLANNAD has more. No offense meant, but anyone who thought they might cover the After Story Arc was just dreaming.
Second Thing: Erasing the arcs which deal with anyone who's NOT one of the romantic leads, there are 3 stories left to be told: Tomoyo, Kyou, and Nagisa.
Re: Tomoyo
It seems like all Tomoyo has done in her past 3 appearances as Tomoyo (and not the bear) is talk about being the Student Council President. Her appearance and comments in the preview, however, have me hopeful that next week will kick off the Tomoyo arc.
Re: Kyou
I was REALLY psyched during the beginning of the Kotomi arc when Kyou was talking with Tomoya about delinquents being well liked...but that came to nothing. Like Tomoyo, however, the appearances of the Fujibayashis and their comments in the preview have me hopeful...
Re: Nagisa
Seeing as how, from where I sit, Nagisa is the Ayu of CLANNAD (with more screentime), I expected most of her story to be woven throughout the entire series, with a concetration at the end. However, given the events of the current episode...
This has changed.
From here on in, I think we're all going to see multiple arcs play out, with Nagisa's being one of the prime arcs.
What am I basing this on?
ONE WORD. That's right, ONE.
During Nagisa's "confession" near the end of the ep, she used the word "koibito" to describe Okazaki. Most girls in anime, even romance ones, use "kareshi" to refer to their boyfriend. And the former word is MUCH STRONGER than the latter. In fact, that Nagisa would call Okazaki her (rough translation) "love person" signals to me that she LOVES him.
Now, granted, we've all known that this was going to happen from that first shot of Nagisa...it was just a question of WHEN.
And I believe that NOW is that time.
Third Thing: Right now, we've got the Sunohara story playing out, as well as the Nagisa story. The episode preview showed both Tomoyo and the twins, so we've got a question to answer:
Whose arc will occupy slot 3?
There's simply not enough time in an episode to deal with 4 stories, so they're going to have to pick one (although, see my later comment).
The view from here (me) is that it'll be Tomoyo. The Fujibayashi's have been in almost every episode since #1, so their continued presence isn't necessarily a flag. That Tomoyo would pop up again after 4-5 episodes, however, is an indicator to me - especially given her appearance in the preview...
Granted, this is PROBABLY all pointless, since (if my intuition serves me correctly), the whole Sunohara story will be over by the episode after next, if not THE NEXT. In which case, whatever arc is ignored will get picked up...
...and it'll be near-pure romance and DORAMA until the final frame.
Just a thought. :D

It's sensical in a 24 episode season to cut out the After Story. However, there are reasons why it kind of has to cover the after story or not make sense. I'd be glad to discuss this with you in the Spoilers and Speculations for Experianced Viewers thread, but saying anything here probably would get me banned for future event spoilers.
Yeah, the after story arc has to be in there also to tie in with the OP that hits us with every episode. 9 more episodes to go with Nagisa being last I bet.
Great episode, Nagisa x Tomoya fans must be happy.
The last few minutes had me cracking up, it was funny how Tomoya's statement threw the following conversation right out of context. It'll be interesting to see how Nagisa reacts when Tomoya tells her he was joking.
IMO, Nagisa protecting Tomoya seemed to be the result of what Kyou said about not realising your dreams if you're to considerate of others.
I think we saw every side of Youhei's character in this episode, good development for him.
Looking forward to Episode 16.

I really liked this episode, it was really entertaining! Best episode to date!
They sure do have a lot in common...especially about them getting kicked out of their favorite club because of fights...Sunohara was really intense in that scene with Nagisa and that member from the Choir club....he really didn't want to believe in all her crap that she was telling Nagisa and wanted Nagisa to just decline the offer...though I thinkt he Choir member was telling the truth, but Sunohara was really pissed though!
Something I've noticed in Clannad so far....a lot of these characters sure do have a lot of accidents happen to them...but it just adds even more to the dramatic effect when its revealed.
Tomoya and the phone call with Sunohara's sister was really funny. Tomoya sure likes to cause a lot of trouble.
The last scene of this episode topped it all off...Tomoya's excuse to Nagisa on why Sunohara keeps on bugging him to play basketball with him....hahahah that made Nagisa come up with a cover up for Tomoya that could be true in a way also.
Next episode seems to add more to this crazyness and I can't even tell the interweaving of the different story routes in this episode...it felt really smooth.
10/10
Sunohara scored major points in this episode. The apearance of yet more minor Tomoyo development leaves me gnashing my teeth in anticipation of her part of the story, though. When are they going to start it? At any rate, Fuuko's apearance was slightly disturbing this time. The last time she apeared it was already a calm and funny scene, but thi time she felt totally out of place, breaking up the tension that was there. I would have preffered she appeared in a more comedic scene, where she would be better placed.

She wants to repay everyone by helping them when they are in need, just that she can't really get them done. Its the thought that counts, Fu-chan is great ;)

I found Fuuko's appearance pretty cute. I'm used to occurrences and people being spontaneous like that from time to time, so I enjoyed it.
Aside from that, this episode was really packed with special moments. Sunohara really has surprised me, to the extent that he has gained my respect. Sticking up on behalf of a timid girl towards another regardless of circumstance really does take some guts. He even thought of a way to go around having to actually confront the choir club with the basketball idea. A clean way of doing things, and it's admirable that he would deal with it like that - it shows a lot of maturity.
Somewhat familiar with certain aspects behind the basketball game from certain sources, I wonder from what direction they'll approach it with.

There's never a bad time to have Fuko appear!
This was a nice episode with many good scenes. Tomoya is still the joker, fooling Nagisa like that. I loved the scene when Nagisa pretends to be Tomoya's girlfriend.
I"m wondering what it Mei-chan's story. He didn't recognize that it wasn't her brother on the phone and even seeing him face to face she wasn't sure it was him, and he didn't recognize her either. Maybe Sunohara comes from a split family with Oto-san and Oka-san living in different parts of japan?

I tend to go back-and-forth on Clannad. Sometimes I like the series, sometimes I find all the tragedy a bit.... much and overdone. Just my opinion (I'm not looking for any debates or anything). However, this was definitely a strong episode for me. Tomoya's mischievous side rounds out his generic "niceness," without making him malicious, and Nagisa's outburst was quite a shock. But that also helped round out her character; she remained cute and endearing, but the pseudo-confession also showed a lot of spine. The two also had genuinely sweet moments, with Tomoya's putting his hands on her shoulder when she was crying, and the blushing after the outburst at the end. Even the one-off Fuko cameo worked for me, and I found that arc rather dull.

Tomoya is strange though he could make a move on any of em but he doenst do it :S
With his face all contorted like that, I wouldn't be sure if it was him either :heh:
And for fair's sake, I don't think Sunohara wasn't really paying attention to things around him at that moment. :D
You do have a point with the phone scene though. I think Sunohara's voice is unique enough to not mistake him for someone else. Although, the way Mei was talking made it seem like the two siblings are close.
Wow...you keep track of all that?
Yup.
Tomoya is strange though he could make a move on any of em but he doenst do it :S
Well keep in mind the reason he could make a move on any one of them is because he won't, if you get what I mean.
With Nagisa being the exception of course ;)
Tomoya sure knows how to spew out serious amounts of crap with a straight face :heh:
Haha, so true. I need to learn how to do that. :D

Do you know Oyashirosama.com?
Haha, so true. I need to learn how to do that. :D
I CAN do that, but it only works on people who don't know me very well. My family, longtime friends, fiancee, relatives...all of them pretty much know when I'm pulling a Yamazaki, straight face or not.
Although the fact that half the time, I end up smiling doesn't help either...

I'm just throwing around wild, not-so-serious speculation (and then you went and quoted it to boot), what about you? :p

Obviously he's looking for the harem ending.

It's Yandere (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Yandere)...
For your instance, Yangire also exists, though it is far less used than yandere.

It's Yandere (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Yandere)...
No, I actually mean Yangire, thank you very much. It's a more extreme form of yandere. Check out Ryugu Rena and Kotonoha.

I guess this off topic should end quickly, so to be short:
Yangire refers to a character who "snaps out", usually very calm to a very jealous/irritated behaviour. It doesn't have any "scale comparison" to Yandere at all (as that one is a love => berserk evolution). Hence, they are different category of characters, not really an "enhanced version of the other".
Rena is "kinda" yangire, but for some "good reasons". Kotonoha is really a yandere.
and of course, these terms are not completely restricted to girls (Youhei MIGHT be yangire :heh:)
I guess we can end the comparison and stuff, etc. [end of trivia]
Tomoya is strange though he could make a move on any of em but he doenst do it :S
Simply because he isn't interested in most of them?
I don't think it is hard for a guy to hang around girls without being interested, until you think guys always sees girls as "possible partners" until they are not free? -_-

It was nice to see Sunohara with a little more depth than usual. Of course after his idea was stolen and passed out in the drama room they still forgot about him lol. On a side notes Kotomi is interacting very well with everyone and just smiling a whole lot i like it. Nagisa was obviously shocked by Sunohara's passion, everyone has the ability to surprise us every now and then.

yangire and yandere aren't related at all...
gire comes from kireru which basically the equivalent of blowing up or snapping
dere comes from "dere dere" which is basically lovey dovey, more or less
I suppose you could go the Kiredere route though...

Yangire is, I believe... different from Yandere. Think one Takamachi Nanoha for Yangire...

Nagisa is really starting to come along... it's all Tomoya's fault anyhow :)
I think this was a good episode... enough bits of fun here and there... I'm not really sure I like Fuko's appaerance.. i mean I do.. but I dont ... it's weird... but getting over the fact she appears... I think the best part of her apparence was that she wound up not helping because they all came to the wedding ... hehe.. figures right? .... hmm... again, I'm heartless... I don't give up high marks on a regular basis... not that there is anything wrong with it, but there is nothing overly great about to me....
Hmm... But yeah.. when I saw the uniforms.... I was waiting for Asuka to show up. :)

Yandere = A person who starts up as a loving person but suddenly went psycho because of a certain situation. [Ex. Kotonoha, Kaede (Shuffle) and Shion] It's about character development.
Yangire = A person who switches from normal to psycho mode. The only one I know is Ryuugo Rena. It's about personality.
err using that comparison, its kinda hard to justify which one is yandere or yangire ;D,
i see rena and kaede is almost the same, while they both differ from kotonoha, oh well sorry for the offtopic
what are chances they are going to animate sunohara's game ending lol ;D that will err you know...
The difference between Rena and Kaede (and their counterparts) is their motivations.
Kaede snaps because the person she loved was taken from her in her eyes. Similarly, Kotonoha snaps because of the situation with Makoto and Sekai, seeing Sekai taking Makoto away from her and Shion snaps because of the situation with Satoshi, believing he was taken from her by her family (plus the Hinamizawa Syndrome). Romance-fueled, all of them
Rena snapped because of the situation with her dad and his manipulative girlfriend (and the Hinamizawa Syndrome), had nothing to do with Keiichi and wasn't romance-fueled. And Sekai snaps towards Makoto, which, while romance-fueled, wasn't the same thing as what happened with Kotonoha or Shion or Kaede, none of whom would ever harm the target of their affections.

This yandere/yangire discussion has gone on for far too long. May I suggest that you continue this discussion in a COMPLETELY separate thread?
I really liked this episode, it seemed to advance a lot while moving little..

Agreed, please post anything that is not related to CLANNAD in its own thread/sub-forum and please stay on topic.
Edit: to clarify I dont have a problem with the yandere discussion but only as it related to CLANNAD. Comparing characters is fine but posts soley devoted to other anime isnt.
Actually I found the yandere/yangire disscusion very interesting. I didn't know there was word for their personality type. I find it interesting to know that I'm attracted to yandere types, but not always :p (In the examples givin a few posts above me, I only like Kaede)
This was one of those ep's that really interested me enough for me to rewatch it several times . The only other ep that did that for me in Clannad was I think, ep.4, the one where Ryou misunderstood (or was tricked) that Nagisa was confessing to her :D, man.... I forgot how many times I watched that ep, more than 5 times for sure :heh:
I already watched this ep 3 times, and I'm still enjoying it :p. Sunohara is really growing on me. Before, he was just some guy for comic relief (which I did not have a problem with btw), but now, to me, he has some meaning in the story.
I was really cracking up when Tomoya was talking to Mei, "ya yi yi yi yi haa" (or whatever he "said" lol). Saying he wanted a clay doll so abruptly was also funny :heh:
And who can forget the Sunohara is gay bit? "I need Okazaki!", "I can't give Okazaki-san to you!" Something like that hehe :eyespin:
And damn that Kyou for interrupting Nagisa x Tomoya... Does she have a sixth sense on being able to tell if Tomoya is getting close to a girl even when she is supposably not around? :eyebrow:
Funny esp.... Kinda different from the ones that I know ... :P A lot of interesting things happened in it. Even Fuko appeared ...
Looks like this anime is getting more interesting also. :)
I kinda like Sunohara's Sister also... Looks cute in a way...
This episode actually disappointed me at the basketball part. I just knew from the beginning they would win..
I just KNEW he would make the winning score. Sucks. I don't want to know it all yet. But it's so predictable. That makes a serie stupid. If it's to predictable..

I think you mean ep 16.... This is ep 15, they haven't even played a basketball game in this ep....

8/10It isn't, unless I'm bad at 'predicting'. My prediction was that they will lose, but they will touch the choir girls with the effort they put in.
lol i loved 15 sunohara likes okazaki lmfao hahahahhah what a funny situation
