Although the Kyoto arc is relatively short, I don't see how they can cram everything from Ch.160 to present into 2 OVAs and have room for some sort of conclusion.

If they do have plans to end with this, they'd probably have to deviate significantly from the source material (which I'd rather they didn't, given what happened with Nigakki). :heh:

I'm guessing this will end up like the two-part OVA that was released after the first season and just have some side stories to it...since the manga's still running, and given how short it is, the odds are probably long on it being a proper conclusion. :(

Still, it's more Sukuran, so I'm happy overall--I still hope someday we get the conclusion animated, but maybe the OVAs are partly to help keep interest in the anime up so that sometime in '09 or later we can get another full season to end the story (assuming the manga ends by then). Given how complicated the relationship chart for Sukuran is I'm thinking they need at least a 13-ep season to really give all the characters the conclusion they deserve and tie up all the loose threads.

The end of Nigakki had the class excited about the upcoming class trip to England. That would seem to prevent the writers from diverging from the manga completely without first referencing the Kyoto arc in some way.

Another possibility is that they could try to incorporate the Valentine's day chapters, since they feature a wide selection of characters and they come just before the Kyoto arc. The arc starting from Ch.201 occurs on a date that is well past Valentine's day, so it becomes harder to backtrack at that point, if there are any plans to continue the story at a later time.

I'd be really cool that even after San Gakki (Term 3) that they keep (let's say the most favorite) characters and that they join the same college or university. And the others just appear every once in a while like Yakumo (still being the sister afterall)..Itoko (Harima's landlord..) etc.

If you check the third season site, there are now ten episode summaries up and counting, covering material from Ch.167-211. Also, given the picture on the promo poster, I'd imagine that there are a lot more to come.

Even if they meant "DVDs" rather than "OVAs", that's a lot of episodes to fit into two discs. So I'm not really sure what's going on, myself. :heh:

Actualy the manga is going to reach the peak soon, probably with the 300th chapter.... according to ch273 and its realy fast going plot. And it doesn't realy matter if there are OVA's or another source. I only wonder if we finally gather HD source>> probably not if there would be only DVDs:(

OVAs can be movie-length. Like two hours and a half hours or so. Equivalent of like 7 episodes each.

Yeah I heard something like the last two episodes will be shown first but do you actually think they won't animate the whole series. The trailers even said they will put the series straight to dvds and they even show some scenes from the kyoto arcs. The episode titles on the website tells you that is what they will showing, I know it's not just for summaries even though they have to summaries next to it.

Quick review of the OVA from Ezekiel8 at WF

The OVA is basically the manga from Chapters 259-265. It basically has the whole Tenma chasing Karasuma and then him telling her that he can't be with her. Harima finds and fights him, seeing Karasuma shout and stuff was pretty interesting and emotional. Tenma drowns her sorrows away with Mikoto, Eri, Akira and Yakumo to support her. Harima ends up coming to her house and takes her off on his bike to catch Karasuma in America.

I don't understand Japanese well enough but I guess that's why I'm in Japan at the moment, I'll be waiting for possible fansubs just to reclarify.

Basically, if you haven't been reading the manga, than the OVA won't make much sense to you as it skips to the end of the series.

Judging from this OVA, the next one will be the final chapters I guess... the cover is as what everyone posted already, Tenma and Karasuma are happy, everyone else is happy for them and Harima is playing his guitar.

I should mention that the OVAs are labeled #25 and #26. I guess this leaves an entire season before 259 to animate and maybe end differently /shrug.

That being said, the OVAs I don't think will satiate my desires properly.

I saw some screencaps and it's obvious that the OVAs are indeed the animated end of SR.
But I wouldn't rush to read the manga just like that, if you preserved for the anime.
Because! The 24 episode summaries and the scenes in the trailer seem to show that the rest will be aired, too. At least the class trip is definetly animated. So sit back and wait, it will come someday ^^ You'll just need more patience.

My answer for your question is:
The manga have better timing and the plot is more cohesive than the anime(less fillers also), but the anime is better with small details and certainly: watching animations+ listening character voices+ musics are more enjoyable.

If you plan to read the manga, then i recommend you to read the parts that equivalent to the end of Season 1 anime (may need some1 to check which volume is it) when Yakumo stay over at Harima's house to help him.

About the third season, i don't know how many of them will be animated so it's up to you actually. All of the arcs are good, except the constant resetting or half-resetting, especially the final one

Considering the OVAs are numbered as episodes 25 & 26, I would have to guess that's their way of saying it's the end. They wouldn't show you the last two episodes of a season, then proceed to make the first 24. Unless of course this pulled in great sales.

I hope he'll scanlate more chapters soon since whoa man I really need a fresh new start from KJ's SR, before he gets on my nerves again because of that ending, good thing the chapters of Natsu no Arashi are interesting. Just watched Third Term and I actually loved it. Sure it's a shame they skipped 24 episodes but it's about the best they could do given the jump.

well basing on what Tenma and Harima are narrating it's still the same old same old I am gonna confess to Karasuma-kun, I'll confess to Tenma-chan for sure this time and Harima will explain the past events that you'll see in flashbacks then onward to the walking feastival. So clearly this ova is meant for the manga readers since it comes with the manga+the DVD ova after all.


Also btw the art is not as good as the 1st OVA's. It look like vectors with heavy ink. Though in some parts are done pretty good.

I'm actually really satisfied with the OVA. The animation seems a *tad* off sometimes... I was really expecting to see the quality that was in the first OVAs. This one looked more like the regular TV series animation.

If they really could only pick one arc to animate then I think this one is suitable because it focuses a lot on Harima and Tenma, both of who were the main focus of the story when SR just started. Anyways, it's so nice to see the whole gang animated again after 3 years. :D

First the manga, then this....ok, it's pretty clear right now: SR doesn't sell well enough for them to do a full season...there is NO OTHER WAY this can be explained. I thought my SR dreams will continue because of OVAs that has been released. Base on what i heard here, this OVA are just a summary of events happened at 1 - 24 and then episode 25. What can I say?

Too much of a good thing is bad? I used to really love SR, I really did...but now after gaining more experience with anime SR seems so distant. It has become an endless game of cat and mouse so maybe that is why I was quite hesitant to actually watch this OVA.

But I don't know now. I'm kinda somewhat disappointed that there isn't going to be a S3 yet glad knowing that the end (ep 25) wasn't going to resolve anything anyway.

I guess we will just have to see whether this series burns itself out once and for or all with this.

I've checked the MFI (http://www.mediafactory.co.jp/animation/index.html) site and as far as I can tell, there is no mention of the second OVA School Rumble San Gakki (School Rumble Third Term).

Also, at this point in time we (AnimeSuki) would not consider School Rumble San Gakki to be licensed either. While Funimation did announce the the license (for the first and second season along with the first OVA) back at Otakon 2006, there is no mention of the second OVA being licensed.

Due to this, the torrents are going to be listed here. If anyone knows better then please let me know via PM. I'll also create a discussion thread as well.

Tbh, after watching the first of the two OVA's and judging by how much theyve skipped and only put some sort of recaps in at the start, i'd be incredibly shocked if they don't make a full series and theyre just keeping it a secret from everybody.

I mean they completely bypassed all the Third term really and just went onto the final part of the final term event.

I hope they didn't put it in for convenience, since a new opening would be too expensive if it's only for 2 OVAs.

It's like the joke on Full Metal Panic Tessa OVA. Where Tessa confessed to Sagara-san lol :heh: he thought Tessa loved drinking. Likewise Harima thought Yakumo loved manga so much.

Come to think of it it's Yakumo in the chapter 282 that made Harima draw manga again for the house expenses as mentioned.

I think if they were to make a full Sangakki season it won't have any fillers. They definitely have enough material but I'm upset that it won't have a full third season because SR sales weren't really good in the first place.

And your damn right about that. Sheesh it's hard to blame the author since this series was great, but that final chapter was funny, but it killed the plot among the others which we know many are still in riot.

Buy Gotham Knight DVD's and pretend KJ is DeadShot and Batman with give him one hell of a smackdown in the face.
