School Days would be perfect for you.

Well he isn't a wuss more a twisted sex maniac :p, i really didnt like this anime and would advise you NOT to watch it its terrible.
I really can't think of any male leads who really isn't a wuss i could only suggest Ai Yori Aoishi as he get with the main girl like real early but then has to kind of hide it because of curtain things its a really good anime.

I can understand that School Days is controversial, and just because I suggested it, doesn't mean I liked it. However, when doing recommendations, I try to keep personal bias out of the equation. If it fits what they want, I suggest it. IMO, these threads are purely for the benefit of the OP and imposing your own taste tends to get in the way of that.

Makoto is a LOT of things, but "allergic to women" is definitely not one of them.

Kaoru in Ai Yori Aoshi is one of my favourite anime males of all time, because he wasn't a dumbshit like most harem leads are. I strongly second it.

Amaenaide yo! might be up your alley. The guy is a typical perv, but not exactly a wuss or anything. More ecchi than average, too.

Also, how many series have someone allergic to girls? The only one I know of is Girls Bravo, but you say you've seen a few.

Folks, I think several of you haven't read the "not a wuss" requirement. This rules out School Days and Girls Bravo.

I think you should have a look at "They Are My Noble Masters" (KimiAru). Ai Yori Aoshi is a valid suggestion, Mahoraba would count aswell. Also, Hayate no Gotoku.

Elfen Lied - Well, hes not a wuss, but this isn't your typical harem echi.
Kanon - Harem, not much echi
Da Capo - Harem/Echi, decent male lead
Clannad - Funny/cool male lead in a harem
Final Approach - Though he can be an asshole

Theres a few

Mahoraba doesn't even make for a love triangle, let alone a harem. He is only interested in one girl and vice versa, so heh ;) The OP asked for harem/ecchi ... and i am having trouble recalling as much as one fanservice scene in Mahoraba. It is a cute, slice-of-lifeish comedy/romance, but it isn't harem and it definitely isn't ecchi.

I highly doubt one has something like Kanon / Clannad in mind when they ask for ecchi harem either, as Kanon is mostly drama with a bit of romance and some comedy, while Clannad is mostly comedy with some drama and romance. And no fanservice in either. (bar two or three scenes in Kanon).

hm ...

If you don't mind the male lead spurting blood like a fountain, Nagasarete Airantou (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4835) is worth giving a shot. Tendencies to nosebleed aside he is not a wuss and the show has its share of ecchi as well.

Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5188) is well worth giving a shot. The guy is rather far from a wuss.

Also, how many series have someone allergic to girls? The only one I know of is Girls Bravo, but you say you've seen a few.

From the top of my head i can only name Hanaukyo Maid Tai ... i think there was more, but the title escapes me for now.

Yeah, to escape from his harem which is what the OP is against in male leads, from what I think he means "allergic to girls". Not in the literal "allergic reaction" way, but in a figurative "scared/inexperienced with girls" sense.

The term "Harem anime" really gets over used. Are you looking for complicated love triangles, or just anime where the main character just has dozens of girls interested in him for absoluetly no reason? If it is the latter, a weak main character, or atleast one with an aversion to any physical contact is essentially the norm of the genre. It is the norm because these anime are geared mostly toward young men who have few social abilities themselves, and are just enthralled by the sort of unquestioning love (or atleast constant contact) that female characters typically show in these anime.

You might want to try some of the older anime, which arguably were the daddies of the whole harem genre, like Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, Tenchi, ect. While they may not fit perfectly to the more modern frame of the harem anime, they may have the aspects of harem anime that you happen to like.

As for a male lead in a harem anime actually getting anywhere, that's just blasphemy. It'd be like the hero of an action anime getting killed in a fight, and not being brought back to life. It is not the destination, but the path taken which makes the journey.

Kamina?
We all know Simon isn't the main character.Ah, and Shuffle!, sort of. He gets somewhere, just it isn't shown how far.
And Makoto definitely got somewhere, came back, then repeated the journey with a few travels on the side.

DearS - The main character, Takeya, is a grumpy teenager who comes across a hot alien. ;)

There isn't many harem anime where the main character isn't a loser, it seems to be an unwritten rule to have an insult to mankind as a protagonist.

the only one i could think of would be midori no hibi but it s not really haremish.

as for school days it s an anime that you will either love or hate, personnally i loved it.

Shin'ichiro isn't really a great character in general. Even though it's based off of an eroge romance, I still have no idea why any of the girls have feelings for him. He's just a mildly annoying, sarcastic guy who occasionally can be sensitive, kind of like a less funny Rin Tsuchimi.
I agree that Goshusho-sama Ninomiya-kun's titular character is far from a wuss, but it's true that many of his amazing feats involve trying to evade his harem, or certain assets of it.
And School Days isn't really a bad anime. It's also not love or hate at all, since no one really "loved" it. I would say most people who hate it only feel so because they only watched it for its ending in the first place, so they didn't really care what happened between episodes 1-12 before its last ten minutes or so.

Your opening joke was a bit tasteless, aside from the fact that I had to have "Dickoto" withing a centimetre of "School Days" to recognise that you were referring to Makoto.
I agree that Shin'ichiro is an idiot, though True Tears itself is not a bad anime, and is even better when compared to the rest of the Winter Season.
Clannad's Tomoya, Kanon's Yuuichi, and Air's Yukito (Though it's a small "harem" of three girls) are the characters you're looking for.
Unfortunately, Kanon, Clannad, and Air are probably far from the type of anime you're looking for.
Then again, you kind of asked for a non-episodic and dramatic slice-of-life comedy.
higurashi. i think that could be counted as harem right since there are signs of interest LOL.
Sure.
I actually wouldn't say any of the lead characters are wusses except maybe Satoko, but seeing as she's probably 7 to 10 years old.

Kanon is quite similar, sharing both Key as original game developers, Kyoto as the animators, and both titles beginning with kana of the "k" sound.
EDIT: !! Kyoto and Key also begin with K !!

The main differences are obviously scenario related, characters' stories, general plot, etc.
Kanon also has some sort of aura of sadness and such, whereas Clannad is generally a more upbeat and happy-ish series.
But the lead characters are very similar: stoic, sensitive, sarcastic, sensible teenagers who are willing to fight (figuratively) for their friends.
Unlike the newer Clannad, both Kanon and Air featured characters who seemed to vanish after their arcs were completed, almost omitted from the rest of the story entirely until its end.

Kanon also contains more lolis and more Yui Horie - Yukari Tamura pairing.

EDIT:
AVATAR CHANGE!
EDIT2:
It's also a Clannad one.

True Tears was not an eroge, and the anime actually has nothing to do with the visual novel that goes by the same title - the two are completely unrelated.
That said, i am not sure whether True Tears is what you are looking for, as the anime is quite different in its feel and approach than most things, even if the general consensus is extremely positive. (personally i consider it overrated).

As for something thats similar to Clannad ... well, the already mentioned Kanon is the first to come to mind, though the mood is indeed a bit different. For what its worth, i liked Kanon better than i am liking Clannad.

It would be somewhat hard to find titles similar to that though ...in most cases the male leads are not all that likable as they tend to be in Key-verse. I would suggest giving Gift ~Eternal Rainbow~ (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4585) a go - for a change we have a male lead that is not incompetent when it comes to a girl he likes and actually works towards it. Its not often when you see a lead that knows from the very start where his heart stands and actually acts upon it :)

Ah, I had heard some statements that it was different from the game, so I guess it was true.
I agree in that the anime is a bit overrated, though. I haven't seen anything in the anime as remarkable, but due to the overall mediocrity of the rest of the current season, it's much better in comparison. I'm currently following the series, but as I stated, I wouldn't say it's as good as people say.

It took me a bit to recognise you/it, since I haven't really seen much of CCS at all (maybe ten or so episodes of Cardcaptors on Cartoon Network back when I was a wee lad.)

And Lucky Star is just the most Gif-able series ever.
There's probably at least twenty things in each episode you could make a good gif out of.

Of course, half of the things I've gif'd ended up around 52 or so KB due to the number of frames required, so it makes me sad.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the two pseudo-Harem/Comedy classics by Rumiko Takahashi:

Urusei Yatsura ~ Those Obnoxious Aliens - a great pseudo-Harem series about a lecherous high school boy who mistakenly proposes to an invading alien princess. So, Lamu, the alien princess, follows him around like a love sick puppy always getting in the way of his desperate need to plant his seed and propagate. One of the main director's for the series was Mamoru Oshii, best known for his work on the Patlabor series and the original Ghost in the Shell movie.

Ranma 1/2 - one of the original gender-bending harem shows...actually it is still one of the only gender-bending harem shows ever. Great comedy, good action, strange romance abound in this classic series that helped to pave the way for the Anime explosion in America. The main character, Ranma, and his multiple "brides" must battle crazed demons, perverted teachers, ectentric Amazonians, and much much more in order to try and create any semblance of normality in his life. Did I forget to mention that he turns into a girl when he is hit with hot water, that is somewhat important :). This was the main inspiration for the beloved harem manga Love Hina, but without the wussy lead character.

Even though School Days fits your description clearly, it's probably not something you're looking for, because people usually watch School Days for a different reason...

If you're looking for a good harem anime w/o a wussy lead you might like;

Clannad: This goes for Kanon 2006 and AIR, they're all great harem anime with a great lead, and a great, romantic story along with many funny, mysterious characters... The 'anime' does NOT contain any ecchi or hentai. Except a few scenes which might be as a joke.

Shuffle!: This show is fantasy and harem, and if you like fan service but not full-on hentai you will like this anime... This anime's lead is not a pervert nor a wuss, and this anime has many 'dark' sides to it... But it's not bloody or anything.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: This is the best anime ever.

I watched it for the lols. It IS pretty funny, you have to admit.

As for actual suggestions... I'd say it's UNpossible, since every lead (ok, maybe Nodame Cantabile guy), is pretty much similar to every other. Okay, gross generalization, but you will generaly have to go through tens of similar leads to get one special, and even then 2 times out of four you won't like him.

Zero no Tsukaima. Saito gets mistreated a lot, but he's got a mouth on him and is an awesome swordfighter. He does have a dirty mind, though, but it more often than not passes off as comedy. It's a great series, and has good drama in the second season, as well.

Clannad is a harem anime only in the loosest of terms. Tomoya has a bunch of girls around him, but I wouldn't say they're pining after him like most harem anime. It's more like a mild interest (at first --- their interest gets a bit more serious further into the series). This anime is still ongoing.

Tenchi Muyo! is good. Tenchi is not a pushover, at least not to the extent of the pathetic wimps most harem anime have.

Ai Yori Aoshi. The main character Kaoru has a bit of a hard past, but he's not weak. A bit shut-in at first, but he opens up. A sweet harem anime (kind of a pseudo-harem, not a true harem as some would classify, like Clannad).

Ugh... Saito... He's probably one of the characters I have the most mixed feelings about in all of anime... About every episode that he manages to earn a bit of my respect, he immediately lose it like 5 minutes later (the last 4 minutes of season 2 finale anyone?) I wouldn't call him a wuss, but he doesn't strike me as a spectacular male lead either.

Compared to the rest of everything that's been suggested in this thread, it's probably of the most bloody series, even though there's only maybe two or three seconds of a guy slitting his wrist. Of course, when you consider that you suggested Higurashi no Naku Koro ni in a harem thread, I think it could be discounted, and so Zero no Tsukaima and School Days are the only other ones with any real blood content and whatnot.
Actually, I'm not sure whether it was brought up or not, but if Nagasarete Airantou is in the thread, it could probably give Higurashi a run for the bloodiest. He probably has at least one nosebleed each episode.
