September the Third, Day Two

Quick note, I'll no longer include sprite information in these art direction pages. Instead I'm creating a seperate section all-together for them. I'll only mention sprites if a new character (with a completely seperate set of sprites) appears in a scene.

Universe 1

Morning- Carton of Eggs
Background:
Initial – Kyon's Room
“But for the past few nights...” - Ripples Event CG (from prologue)
“I know it doesn't really make any sense, but that's dreams for you.” - Kyon's Room
Scene: Dining Room – Kyon's Kitchen
“As I get on my bike and head towards North High...” - On the Way to School
Special Effects: Green text “Forget everything you've ever known” displays simultaneously with “-can never remember the details.”
Note: Kyon's mom obviously will not have her own sprite. Ditto to Kyonko's Dad in the Universe A scenes.
End of Morning- Carton of Eggs

To School- Temporal
Background:
Initial – On the Way to School (THAT DAMN HILL)
With choice 3) “...So, uh, Asahina-san, who were you talking to?”
Event CG:
“I look where Asahina-san is pointing” - Girl in the Window
Take the “School” background, place Tsuruya in one of the windows, ???, PROFIT!
Quite the simple event CG. It's important though that she can hardly be made out from that distance, since he doesn't get to “see her” till she's officially introduced to him.
“Mikuru: Kyon-kun? Are you okay?” - Event CG is replaced by the normal “School” background.
Special Effect:
Ripple – Ripple effect. A quick (less then a second) flash of the “Stars in the Water” CG.
“The world has, all of a sudden, been suffused with a deep... myrtle.” - Green tint. With this scene we peg down the exact colour of the green tint that's been described in previous scenes. Specifically, something around hex code 21421E.
“Mikuru: Kyon-kun? Are you okay?” - Green tint effect is lifted.
End of To School-Temporal

Classroom- Late for Class
Background:
Initial – Kyon's Classroom
End of Classroom- Late for Class

Lunchtime: Clubroom- Totally Unreasonable
Background:
Initial – Kyon's Classroom
Scene: Clubroom – Clubroom; this applies to either value for the DebtSlave flag.
End of Lunchtime: Clubroom- Totally Unreasonable

Universe A

To School- Flux
Background:
Initial – On the Way to School
“Brrr. I felt that chill.” - School
Special Effect:
During Big Mitsuuru's line – Flashback Effect
Sepia tone replay of that scene. Could be done by either editing the sprite / background / textbox outside of the game and adding it in, or if Ren'py can do it, as a filter effect.
End of To School- Flux

Hallway- So Very Unreasonable
Background:
Initial – Kyon's Classroom
“So now, because that's an arguement I can't even hope to win...” - Hallway
(Continues through both decision branches)
Special Effect:
“Control.” ... “It's the end!” / “It's the end! Or is it the beginning?” - Green Text
“-my brain is filled with the sounds of ripples.” - Ripple Effect
*KSSSSSSH* - TV Turning Off Effect
End of Hallway- So Very Unreasonable

Universe 1

Lunchtime: Another Hallway- The Way of the Nanpa
Background:
Initial – Hallway
Special Effect:
“Haaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha!” - Green Text
“Alt.” ... “Right?” - Green Text
*ZZZZZZZT* - TV Turning Off Effect
End of Lunchtime: Another Hallway- The Way of the Nanpa

After School- Clubroom: Totally Cancelled
Background:
Initial – Kyon's Classroom
After ComputerLesson flag check - Clubroom
Decision Totally Flustered “I dodge the flying math book...” - Hallway
Decision Totally Missing the Point “Well that didn't have much effect” - Hallway
Decision Totally Ignored “...As I close the door behind me...” - Hallway
Special Effect:
“ENDLESS. EIGHT.” “A loop without end. A mobius strip.” “The Endless Infinity will consume us all.” - Green Text
*KSSSSSSH* - Static Effect
End of After School- Clubroom: Totally Cancelled

Universe A

Evening- Why is the Milk Gone?
Background:
Initial – Streets of Nishinomiya (Evening)
“Later, after a late dinner, in my room.” - Kyon's Room (Evening)
Special Effect:
“ripple” - I think the best way to do this would be to have an Event CG flash for a moment.
*KSSSSSSH* - Static Effect
Event CG:
“ripple” (see Special Effects) – “Night Time Guest” Observer's POV is centered on Kyon's bed. Kyonko is sitting on it with one foot touching the ground and one partially hanging off the edge. Since she hasn't been “officially” introduced to Kyon, her face would be looking away from the “camera”. One hand can't be seen (the one touching Kyon) while the other is propping her up. There's a large lump under the blanket (Kyon). Kyonko is wearing nothing at allbut a see-through teddylarge t-shirt that goes down to her waistmid-thigh.
This was a hard CG to describe...
End of Evening- Why is the Milk Gone?

Universe 1

Night- Another Ordinary Night
Background:
Initial – Kyon's Room (Evening)
“I flip off the lights, and crawl under the covers.” - None (Black screen)
End of Night- Another Ordinary Night

Checklist:
Event CG:
Night Time Guest
Girl in the Window
None of the Effects are new, although the names might be different.
KSSSSSH Effect = Static Effect
ZZZZZZT Effect = TV Turning Off Effect

End of September the Third, Day Two

The Newborn

"…"

"Before I go on to describe my current mental state, it would be a good idea to relate a story I once heard."

"I once read about a talented British musician named ‘Clive Wearing’. At the age of 47, he contracted a variant of the Herpes virus, Herpes simplex encephalitis. It destroyed the parts of his brain responsible for converting short-term memory into long-term memory, leaving him completely unable to form new memories. "

"His consciousness resets once every thirty seconds."

"Mr. Wearing describes every moment of his life as “waking up for the first time”. In a diary his caretakers provided for him, is page after page of assertions that he is finally awake for the first time."

"That’s how I feel right now."

"Like waking up for the first time."

"Waking up from a nightmare. For the first time."

"As though my mother’s womb was a place of eternal torment. Waking up for the first time."

"I’m waking up for the first time."

"I open my eyes… and close them again. The light is too bright for eyes that have never been used before."

"Sound assails my ears. Ears that have never been used before."

"The smell of gasoline and smog begins to assail my nose. My nose that has never been used before."

"I feel sick. I throw up."

"I taste bile with a tongue that has never been used before."

"I open my eyes, forcing them to adjust. My current view is of a sideways road. It’s dark outside. I’m on a sidewalk, and the bright light is a streetlamp."

Myself "Ohhgogwhaahappen…"

"My tongue can’t form words properly. I’ve never used it before."

"Realizing I look like a drunk collapsed here next a pile of barf, I try to push myself up. My muscles, since I’ve never used them before, give way, and I fall face-first in my own vomit."

Myself "Been laying here… few hours… WHY has no one stopped to help…"

"Stupid country. I’ll try to get up again."

"I manage to push myself upright. Okay, that’s good. First step."

"An expensive-looking sedan passes by. Hey! Don’t you think you should stop and help a poor girl like me?"

"Bah. I try to stand… and fall flat into my pile of barf again."

"Nazeeeeee… I’ll just have to try again."

"This time, I manage to get all the way up."

Myself "That’s good. Good. Another step."

"Now I just have to walk. Walking is good. Let’s try that."

"I try walking… and stumble down the hill. Before I fall, I grab the nearby stop sign for support."

"Okay. Just need to rest a bit."

"While I do so, let’s get our bearings."

"For starters, what’s my name?"

"…Okay, I remember my name. That’s the first step."

"…My nickname is Kyonko."

"Wait, no. Kyon. My nickname is Kyon. My uncle gave it to me. Right. Stupid nickname."

"I’m 16 years old, and it’s the second semester of my first year at North High School, Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture. I’m Japanese. I have a little brother, and I live with him and my father."

"I’m generally average in looks, though I’m a little underdeveloped for my age, but I don’t really care."

"I’m also a member of the SOS Brigade, an insane yet sometimes fun club run by my classmate, Haruki Suzumiya. He can warp reality, though he doesn’t know it. The other members are Yuuki Nagato, an alien, Mitsuuru Asahina-senpai, a time traveler, and Itsuko Koizumi, an esper. Our job is to make sure Haruki doesn’t find out about his powers."

"Okay. Got that. I’m good."

"Now, what was I doing that made me pass out on the road? I’m not hung over, so I don’t think I had anything to drink… and besides, I’m still in my school uniform, so I’m pretty sure I had been going home…"

"Wait, that’s right."

"I remember now. The past few days, I’ve been sliding over to another universe, and passing out whenever I do…. And we had met in the clubroom today… and we found a way so they could always come with me… and… I sent them away…?"

"Why did I do that? Why the hell would I send the people who want to help me away…?"

"I guess I was scared, or something. Wait, scared?"

"Why?"

"…I don’t remember. All I know is that I passed out on the road, and woke up for the first time."

"…Everything before now is indistinct, as though it was a dream. So… I must be in the other world."

"And I somehow, get the feeling, I won’t just be going back normally."

"…"

"…"

Kyonko "I’m scared."

"I’m scared. I’m scared of being all alone here."

"…Wait! Wait wait, I remember now."

"We promised to call each other! And they all have my “data signature”, or whatever, so it should be okay."

"I’ll just flip open my cellphone, and…"

"…NO SERVICE? What?"

"There’s gotta be service here. No way."

"I turn off my phone, and turn it on again."

"NO SERVICE."

Kyonko "…You gotta be kidding me… No way…"

"No, no no no. I don’t want to be left all alone in another world. Don’t leave me here."

"Maybe if I just wait here all night, they’ll come find me."

"…It’s pretty dark outside, though. Yup, pretty dark. I bet there’s lots of bad things out at night… stop it!"

"Where would those three have gone…? And where can I go?"

"…I don’t know where Itsuko’s house is. …I don’t know where Asahina-senpai’s house is. …I know where Nagato’s house is, but I’m not even sure if he’s there, and I need permission to get inside the building anyway."

"…I don’t wanna be alone in the dark… I don’t wanna."

Kyonko "…I don’t wanna be alone, ever again…"

"…Ever again…? What? I don’t…"

"In any case. There’s only one place I can go, right?"

"He looked okay. Normal, I mean. And if he’s me, I can probably explain to him, and he’ll understand. He’ll understand."

"The other me is the only choice I have left. I’ll head to where my house was."

"I can walk again now. I take step after step, down the hill. "

"Down the hill to the only place I might be able to call home."

And now for my stupidly long quote-chain post. This is what I get, being busy for 6 days.

I'm feeling a little depressed right now.

I have the sneaking suspicion that the last time my hard drive died, I somehow overlooked the MoHS OST. (As in the BGM and such.) I had collected it in bits and pieces, over the course of quite a long time. Now, I can't seem to find it, and I think it's lost forever.

I have the entire Haruhi OST pack, including all the character albums, radio shows, audio dramas, and even the live concerts. I got it from boxtorrents (which is now bakabt). Do a quick search on bakabt.com and you should find it (you will have to make an account however).
[Don't even remember +quoting this... btw]

What, everything? Mikuru is awesome at stereotypical housewifey stuff like cooking, cleaning, and clothing (I await the inevitable flames from feminists due to out-of-context quotation), but I can understand that Mitsuuru may be different.

That's what housewives do - it's not prejudiced. Saying "all women should be housewives" would be flame worthy. Besides, you said yourself it was stereotypical.

I thought that was also about the masochistic impulse in some men. *cough*

Actually, tsundere is about the exact opposite. The anger / violence / coldness (tsun tsun~) is just a way to highlight the dere dere by contrast. It's about showing weakness despite having a front of strength.
Moe itself is about a girl showcasing some sort of weakness that would elicit feelings of protectiveness from a male audience.
I'd also like to take this moment to say that physically violent tsundere is donotwant.
Unless it's Narusegawa Naru...
[Yeah, I got a little carried away here. I don't mean this reply, I mean the half page I'd written before I realized I was going overboard... and deleted most of it, haha]

He obviously loves seeing girls cry. :(

Mikuru bawling got me through most of Endless Eights... does this make me a bad person? :( lol.

Mars come to mymind. Specially because it is the same symbol for 'male', so it is hareder to get. (tough I wonder if japanese people know these symbols, as they can already use '男' and '女' for 'male' and 'female')

The Greek symbol for Mars would be a perfect way to represent the stargazing, however Greek (ancient or otherwise) is written out as characters rather then symbols. Besides the fact that Mars is a Roman construct based on the god Ares - which is spelled Ἄρης in Greek. Mars would be written in latin.

No, I mean like getting close to them and then actively rejecting them.
Doing this enough times to enough girls gets you a GAY END, actually. :heh:

I've seen screens from the Sunohara end. It sounds hilarious. Oh wait, I found this...
TOMOYA: "Lately, I've been meeting up with all kinds of different girls..."
TOMOYA: "All of them were different..."
TOMOYA: "But, from them, I got an answer..."
TOMOYA: "It was you..."
SUNOHARA: "What are you talking about? I don't really get it..."
TOMOYA: "To be brief... I mean I want to be with you."
SUNOHARA: "....Huh?"
TOMOYA: "I want to be together with you forever."
TOMOYA: "...Am I not good enough for you?"
SUNOHARA: "No, but, I want a girlfriend too, and if that happens..."
TOMOYA: "So I'm not good enough, huh?!"
So OOC, but god damn is that funny. Great end or greatest end?

True, but then you'd also need to have someone that was keeping records of how the women behaved...and for some reason, most ancient civilizations, just never really bothered with what women did unless it effected the course of a nation, or major hero.

Of course. No one recorded how everyday men behaved either, since they weren't noteworthy enough for someone to bother writing about them.

(Even modern histories generally didn't bother with what the women did for a long time, unless it effected the nation. They got better over time, and as women gained independance of action and the ability to own property in the western world at least, they started to matter to historians. I can't say about in the East, with only a few courses on Chinese and Japanese history, and some ancient civilizations, I can't give a clear picture of anything not based on European or New World histories)

Think of it this way though, having a period is essentially a bodily function. It's not interesting enough to write history about. It's not that "women didn't matter", it's that what historians found interesting happened to be the things that women never got involved with directly, other then quite recently.

... So I have a new theory about who greentext is. Not sure if it's been suggested yet, though.

It isn't really obvious? I guess Kaisos is doing a good job then.

That really works, actually, since Hisao kept reminding me of an emo Kunikida.

Seriously. Without his "broken heart", Hisao would be the most boring male lead ever. :heh:

If he was ever cured, it would be like that time in Moyashimon where Sunohara Tadayasu loses his ability to see microbes. He'd cease to be interesting entirely.

Also Kenji is the best male supporting character ever.

Great end or greatest end?

I dunno, Jet Saito is a pretty epic end too. :heh:

I believe ren'py goes with a /" for them, but I'm not sure... I never really did much with it, to be honest. :heh:

\", actually. Being the \ a way to cancel the effect of the next character.

btw don't worry about ren'py formating odd characters like " and such basicly have to be forced because they have uses in the actual language.

Hmmm, not sure what you mean. All other odd characters that have an actual use in the language are canceled when between comas. Well, exept for %(variable)s, but is not like we will ever need such odd characters.

Anyway, you are kinda right about the ". When not used correctly they screw up so badly with the code that is pretty easy to spot. They also change the color of the txt, so it is even easier.

There wasn't much editing for me, really... just adding the ren'py formatting, in most places. And I'm going to tackle some more later... I just sorta have to do at least some of my homework. And go to the D&D group I'm DMing. And spend time with my girlfriend... And maybe sleep.

I thaks you a lot because of it. I would also ask to you, while at it, rid off these colons after the characters name. However, I have to point something, what you are doing is a simple grammar revision right? While it is very useful and necessery, is not kinda pointless doing it now? Eventually, someone will ned to edit these texts, and then Kaisos will reedit. Then a new revision will be necessery. So, having one now isn't kinda pointless?

Actually no. The Mainland forcibly simplified their characters set during the Revolution. Amidst much bloodshed, much of the celebrated system was destroyed in the Mainland. However, there are many, like Taiwanese and other places not affected by the change from mainland, continue to use the beautiful traditional set of characters.

'Mainland' is the continental China right? The People's Republic. I have to apologise here, I kinda totally forgot the other one (Republic of China, also called Taiwan).

September the Third, Day Two

Quick note, I'll no longer include sprite information in these art direction pages. Instead I'm creating a seperate section all-together for them. I'll only mention sprites if a new character (with a completely seperate set of sprites) appears in a scene.

You know, that sprite direction would be really useful for me now. With it, and the standard size of the sprites, I could actually code then into the script even without the actuall image.
Morning- Carton of Eggs
Background:
Initial – Kyon's Room
“But for the past few nights...” - Ripples Event CG (from prologue)

That Ripple CG is the transition we already have? Or you think they are not good? I usually reffer as 'CG' only the pretty images, so I am kinda confused.

Special Effect:
During Big Mitsuuru's line – Flashback Effect
Sepia tone replay of that scene. Could be done by either editing the sprite / background / textbox outside of the game and adding it in, or if Ren'py can do it, as a filter effect.

Not sure I understood. How exactly this Flashback Effect looks like?

*KSSSSSSH* - TV Turning Off Effect

You mean the static here right? Btw, what do you think about what I have done for the TV Turning Off thing? No one gived me an opinion so far so I am unsure.

You know, I don't really like that idea of hidding Kyonko and Itsuko face until they meting Kyon. Is not like their face is a secret or something like that, so is kinda awkward.

Joke Guess of the Day that Isn't My Actual Thoughts:
Greentext is Kaisosko.

It only makes no total sense! Only Kaisos (and his genderbent self) would be possible of creating something as fuckedupcrazyawesome as Greentext's lines.

That is actuallly a very amuzing idea.

Yes, it was about that symbol I was talking about.

So OOC, but god damn is that funny. Great end or greatest end?

You know, I have the impression all Bad Ends have Tomoya being OOC, to explain how he get this bad end in the first place. I finaly finished Fujibayashi route, and the only bad after a certan point (i.e., if I miss a single right aswer I get it, no really matter if it make sense or not) have Tomoya doing what he was suppose to do in the first place (breaking with Ryou earlier) but in such bastard manner that nor Ryou or Kyou whant to talk to him again after it...

That really works, actually, since Hisao kept reminding me of an emo Kunikida.

Seriously. Without his "broken heart", Hisao would be the most boring male lead ever. :heh:

You say the truth. Even Fate!Shirou annoys me less then him. The game is still great, tough. Even if is solely by the fact is a very well done fan game.

Also Kenji is the best male supporting character ever.

I also agree. They should do an actually Gay End with him. :p One where you live, that is it.

Will do on the formatting stuff. And I figure I'm doing a lot of the grunt work to make Jintor's work easier. Also, I am re-reading the pages surrounding the posts, so I'll incorporate anything I find that we discussed changing.

I meant to add a request for a suitable punishment for Kyon for smashing the camera, because I still can't think of anything... >.>
Oh? Go on.
Older Mikuuru that's gone a little bit crazy for some reason. (This is added to my earlier two theories of some sort of meta-Kyonko that remembers everything from Endless Eight and Fang-tan.) Reasoning: the Mitsuuru scene and the fact that she no longer hears the voice once Mitsuuru leaves the clubroom.

Not my favorite of the three, but... I figure it's workable (unless it was shot down already).
Man, why the tread become so active when I spend one day alway?Obviously, the thread is seeking revenge. Did you do something to make it angry, Heatth? Like maybe... BEAT THE TOPIC WITH A STEEL PIPE AND THEN SHOVE IT INTO A TUB FULL OF LYE?

Somehow I read this as "The Geass is Always Greener"Since when are Geasses green?

Will do on the formatting stuff. And I figure I'm doing a lot of the grunt work to make Jintor's work easier. Also, I am re-reading the pages surrounding the posts, so I'll incorporate anything I find that we discussed changing.

I see. Thanks for your work. Again.

I meant to add a request for a suitable punishment for Kyon for smashing the camera, because I still can't think of anything... >.>

More finantial penalty maybe? Making he pay for every one in the Brigade(exept for Mikuru). We could also add a variable Broke=True, meaning he can't buy anything after that if he pick both penaltys. No cue how it would affect the story. :p

I can't think in nothing as criative as her punishment at Charmed at Fist Sight LOVER!, tough.

Older Mikuuru that's gone a little bit crazy for some reason. (This is added to my earlier two theories of some sort of meta-Kyonko that remembers everything from Endless Eight and Fang-tan.) Reasoning: the Mitsuuru scene and the fact that she no longer hears the voice once Mitsuuru leaves the clubroom.

...Amuzing.

Anyway, didn't Kyonko say it was a female? She called it 'she' in Separation.

Obviously, the thread is seeking revenge. Did you do something to make it angry, Heatth? Like maybe... BEAT THE TOPIC WITH A STEEL PIPE AND THEN SHOVE IT INTO A TUB FULL OF LYE?

Bu.. but I.... I... wasn't the only one was I? And Clannad is not that far from the topic, anyway (VN, Kyoto Animation...).

Danm you thread! Iwill remember it!

Awesome penalty was awesome. Shame the misunderstanding was taken care of. :p

Which is why Mikuru was mentioned. Not really sure why the first u was doubled, though. :heh:

Agree. A pitty.

Ah, make sense. :heh: I read Mitsuuru, for some reason. Probably that double u. :p

PP:

Sorry about the extra U in Mikuru. I blame it on typing Mitsuuru too often.

And that is, in fact, the source of the letter "w": in many ancient languages, the sound that "w" represents was written as two "u"s very close to each other. (Theban, for example). And in some modern languages, the long "u" sound can double as a "w" sound (arabic, for example: و is either "uu" or "w" depending on the context. And region.)

When I said "the Mitsuuru scene," I was referring to the first major choice for Mitsuuru in Universe A, when the greentext goes crazycrazier. (aka, Mitsuuru's This is the story of a... scene). And in "Separation," she hears greentext while Mitsuuru is still around, but once he leaves (and she subsequently runs into Tsuruya-san, which is also an argument for it being one of the two Tsuruyas) she doesn't hear it anymore.

Again, not my favorite of my three theories, but it was something I thought up while editing. Closer reading and whatnot.

I see my mistake then. Nice thinking, btw. I can't comment further, tough. I already knows who/what she is, so any word could be a hint. Danchou would be mad with me. :p

Ah, I've forgot you like languages. Well, the W name is double-u, after all. It is why it has this shape right? Two Vs. U and V used to be the same letter, if I am not mistake.

Correct. At least, in the languages that I have some vague knowledge of (my girlfriend is a better resource on this then I am, I fear).

I mentioned the others in the previous post: evil Kyonko-variant that remembers all of Endless Eight (my preferred theory) or Tsuruya-chan (more because of coincidences in the script and the green-ness of the greentext then thinking she'd pull something that cruel).

Intruder Alert

"Of course, doing something in reality is rather different than just thinking about it."

"Which is why I’m simply standing on my... his doorstep and not able to do anything else."

"Urgh, this is stupid. Why am I freezing up now? All I have to do is knock on the door and explain my situation. It’s easy. It’d go something like:"

Kyonko "Hi! I’m your gender-flipped self from another universe! Can I sleep here?"

Boy "Why of course! Ahaha~!"

Kyonko "Ahaha~!"

Boy "Ahaha~!"

"Wait, it wouldn’t go like that at all!"

"Sigh… I’ll just knock and see what happens. Maybe I can pretend to be his illegitimate half-sister or something."

"I knock, then, out of some sense of paranoia, listen carefully."

Child’s Voice "Kyon-kun, someone’s at the door!"

Male Voice "Get it yourself."

"Of course. If I have a little brother, he has a little sister. Of course."

"I hear footsteps approaching from the other side of the door."

"…"

"I can’t do this. This is way too embarrassing. Ahaha~."

"So, as the door opens, I leap to the side, and roll...! And somehow end up around the corner of the house."

"…That was dangerous!"

Child’s Voice "Eh? No one’s here."

Male Voice "Who is it?"

Child’s Voice "Nobody."

Male Voice "Huh?"

"More footsteps. I can sense two people at the front door."

---
IF Gremlins=True THEN

Male Voice "Huh. Guess it was the Fridge Gremlins coming early."

Child’s Voice "What?"

Male Voice "…Never mind…"

Child’s Voice "You’re so weird, Kyon-kun."

Male Voice "Yeah, yeah."

"I hear the door closing."

"…So. My other self is insane. Somehow, I’m glad I didn’t stick around to find that out first-hand."

---
ELSE

Male Voice "Huh. Guess it must have been someone playing a prank or something."

Child’s Voice "Who’d want to play a prank like that?"

Male Voice "…I can think of someone…"

"I hear the door closing."

"Whew. That was close."

---

"Well, now what do I do!?"

"I’ve botched up my only chance to be sleeping anywhere indoors… I could wander around all night, but… that definitely sounds like a bad idea to me."

"…I could just sleep here, in the shadows of the house, where no one will see me. If I manage to wake up early enough, I can slip away without anyone inside even noticing that I was here."

"But, where do I go from there? How am I supposed to find the others? …Wait, maybe Nagato can find me. In that case, it’d be better to stay in one place for a while… Where to go tomorrow, then?"

"I’m still wearing my school uniform. So, the best place to go would be… North High."

"That’s where I’ll go, then."

"Okay, I’ve got a plan. That’s good. Now I just have to spend the night sleeping on the cold, hard ground."

"It’s gonna be a long night."

"As expected, it was a long night. And it’s not even half over yet!"

"I’m freezing! How can it be so hot during the day and so cold at night? I’m in short sleeves and a skirt, I’m going to get hypothermia and die out here…"

"…"

"Back home, next to my balcony, there’s a trellis covered in ivy that my dad planted years ago. He said that it would spice up the yard a bit, but I was always scared some freak would climb into my room using it. Dad always said it would never support anyone’s weight, but…"

"There’s an ivy-covered trellis next to a balcony here, too. The balcony that would have been my balcony."

"…I bet the bed inside that room is nice and warm. And really, who cares if he’s some guy? He’s me, and it’s my room, and I’m sure he’ll understand, right?"

"So, with that in mind, up we go~!"

"…I manage to make it about halfway up the trellis, surprisingly, but…"

"I hear a -snap-."

Kyonko "Oh no."

---

"A sudden crashing noise disturbs my slumber."

Kyon "Huh? Wha?"

"I look around, bleary-eyed. …Nothing out of the ordinary in my room."

"Must have be a stray cat outside or something. Whatever, I need my sleep."

"Goodnight, strange noise."

---

Kyonko "Ow…"

"Nothing seems broken… except for the trellis, which is now on top of me. I push it off."

"…Well, looks like I’m not getting inside that house. I really hope that noise didn’t wake anyone up."

"And I’m still cold!"

"…It’s gonna be a long night."

Left Behind

"The room is, objectively, a mess."

"Candy and junk food wrappers layer the floor. Random bits of crumpled paper dot the room white. Clothes are everywhere, and one corner is taken up entirely by a haphazardly stacked pile of manga."

"The inside of Haruki Suzumiya’s room is, to put it simply, exactly the same as the inside of Haruki Suzumiya’s schoolbag."

"And it’s all due to foolishly forgetting this exact schoolbag in his clubroom that Haruki Suzumiya is in the state he’s currently in."

"The bed is about the only clean part of the room, mostly because when it gets too messy, Haruki Suzumiya simply pushes the debris onto the floor. He had done that upon coming home, dazed, and was now lying on top of it, face up, with one arm across his face."

"Haruki Suzumiya had seen something that he shouldn’t have seen."

"Halfway home, he realized he wasn’t carrying his schoolbag, and, eager to hide the fact that he carried porn around in it, had rushed back to school, deciding to take a couple shortcuts to save time."

"As he approached the road leading to the school, however, he saw the thing that he shouldn’t have seen."

"He saw Kyonko, walking home from school with a troubled look on her face. He saw her keel over and collapse."

"And, rushing forward in a panic, he also saw her disappear."

"Let’s repeat that."

"Haruki Suzumiya saw a friend of his vanish into thin air."

"There are no rational explanations one can come up with. He clearly saw her disappear. There is no mistaking what he saw."

"Haruki Suzumiya saw a friend of his vanish into thin air."

"Of course, he didn’t believe it. Even without a rational explanation, a normal human being will still try to deny what they saw when coming face-to-face with the supernatural."

"Even Haruki Suzumiya. That’s just the way it is."

"He had found his bag stuffed into his shoe locker and privately thanked the person who had done that for him."

"In a daze, he had walked home. Trying to forget the thing he had seen that he wasn’t supposed to see."

"But he couldn’t."

"In the catatonic-looking Haruki Suzumiya’s right hand, there was a cellphone. The cellphone was in his hand because the first thing he had done after brushing the junk off his bed was call Itsuko Koizumi’s cell number, to ask her if she knew where Kyonko was."

"/"The number you have called cannot be completed as dialed. Please hang up and try your call again./" "

"The next thing he did was call Mitsuuru Asahina."

"/"The number you have called cannot be completed as dialed. Please hang up and try your call again./" "

"The next thing he did after that was call Yuuki Nagato."

"/"The number you have called cannot be completed as dialed. Please hang up, and try your call again./" "

"… And, despite the fact that he had promised not to pester her tonight, he called Kyonko herself."

"/"The number you have called cannot be completed as dialed. Please hang up, and try your call again./" "

"This is why Haruki Suzumiya was lying on his bed, face up, one arm across his face, catatonic."

" ‘Maybe, for some reason, all their cellphones malfunctioned at the same time’ is what he is thinking right now."

"He’s wrong of, course. There is no rational explanation. He saw her disappear before his very eyes."

"…Haruki Suzumiya is considering calling Kyonko’s house."

"But he’s afraid of the answer he might get."

"But he has to know."

"With one hand, he dials the number, and slowly raises the phone to his ear."

"The voice of an energetic little boy answers."

Brother "Hello!"

"Haruki Suzumiya tries to sound as normal as he can."

Haruki "Hey, that Bro-kun? It’s me!"

Brother "Haru-kun! What’s up?"

Haruki "Ehhh, nothin’ much, nothin’ much. How’re ya?"

Brother "Er, not bad. Can I ask you a question?"

"It’s not that normal for the receiver of the phone call to ask the questions. It’s a question Haruki Suzumiya is sure he doesn’t want to hear. And yet…"

Haruki "Yeah, sure, go ahead."

Brother "Do you know where Kyon-chan is?"

"The figure on the bed stiffens."

Brother "Dad’s freaking out. He keeps taking about calling the cops… I managed to distract him by saying she might be at Nagato-kun’s place, but it won’t last long. Please tell me she’s with you guys and forgot to call home."

"Haruki Suzumiya’s right hand drops from his ear to the bed. The cellphone falls out of his hand and slides to the floor."

Brother "Haru-kun? Haru-kun?"

"Outside, thunder rumbles. Which is odd, considering the forecast had no mention of rain. Not even a light shower."

"Of course, the forecast can’t predict the emotions of a god."

"Said god's other arm slides off his face. He stares up at his ceiling, which is covered in glow-in-the-dark stars."

Haruki "…Seems I’ve been left behind, huh?"

"How dare they just up and leave without taking the Supremely Manly Brigade Chief with them."

"If they had just asked, I’d have been so happy to have come along."

DAY THREE END>.> Overuse of commas...

Also, this line In the catatonic-looking Haruki Suzumiya’s right hand, there was a cellphone. bugs me, but I'm having trouble thinking of a rewrite. Suggestions?

Also, spawnofthejudge made a good point when he said that cell phones default to voice mail if the phone is out of the service area. Anyone want to write little voice mail messages for Haruki to click off halfway through? Or do we prefer the suspense (and avoiding the "why didn't he just leave a voicemail" discussion) of leaving them as-is.

The Darkness Before Dawn

"…"

"Everything in this world feels more real than in my own world. Even the simple act of waking up is more vivid than it has ever been. Or am I just misremembering?"

"Whatever."

"I guess I finally got to sleep… although it was an uncomfortable sleep that must have only lasted a couple hours, given that it’s still dark outside."

"The horizon is beginning to brighten, though. It’s that moment of half-light, just before the dawn."

"It’s sad to note this may be the first time I’ll have seen a sunrise in years."

"I should probably get going before it gets light. I don’t want anyone in my... this house to know I was here."

"As I go down the front steps, I notice a bicycle leaning against the other side of the house. …Maybe getting to school faster can be my compensation for having to sleep in a yard."

"…Unfortuantely, just by looking at it, I can tell even the frame is much too big for me. I hate being short."

"As though to form a duet with my grumbling, my stomach raises its own protests."

"Well, I still have some money, and there’s a couple of corner stores on the way to school, so I guess I can eat there."

"Better get going."

[Scene: To School]

"After stuffing myself with some random pastries and a soda, I feel much better. Except for the grungy feeling of not being clean."

"Ugh, maybe I can sneak into the showers when I get to school. But what am I going to do about the grass stains on my uniform?"

"I’m now heading up the hill, surrounded by other students, just like I do every day back home. I don’t see anyone I know, though, aside from the boys named Taniguchi and Kunikida, who don’t seem to notice me... although that’s mostly because I’m trying to make myself unnoticeable."

"…It really looks like this world really is the same, aside from the gender thing."

"I had dropped by a bookstore I used to frequent when I was younger, just as it was opening. A quick perusal of the History section confirmed what I had been thinking: None of the major historical figures in this world had had their genders reversed."

"What’s more… I used to come to this bookstore all the time, back when I read books, so I got to know the shopkeeper fairly well."

"The shopkeeper looked exactly the same as he always used to, though he didn’t appear to have recognized me."

"…The hell? I would have thought it was just the five of us, but then there’s Taniguchi and Kunikida…"

"…Maybe it’s only people Haruki knows?"

"Or is it the other way around, and we’re only gender-reversed because we’re people the other Suzumiya knows?"

"…No, I don’t want to get into random theorizing here. That’s Itsuko’s job."

"With that thought, I realize I’m already standing in front of the shoe lockers, and have my hand on a particular person’s locker."

"It’s not mine. Well, it was mine, but it isn’t anymore."

"Huh. Didn’t think of this. Now what do I do?"

I believe the Mars symbol that is being referred to is what most of us are more familiar with as the male symbol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Male_symbol).

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU...
Yeah, I'm an idiot. I don't even have an excuse here, as I watched sailor moon when I was a kid as much as the next guy my age.

You know, that sprite direction would be really useful for me now. With it, and the standard size of the sprites, I could actually code then into the script even without the actuall image.
I'll... get on it. Damn is it tedious though. I shouldn't complain, it can't be as tedious as coding. :heh:

That Ripple CG is the transition we already have? Or you think they are not good? I usually reffer as 'CG' only the pretty images, so I am kinda confused.
I wrote that when in my notes the ripple was still a CG. Just consider it the same as the Ripple transition in the prologue.

Not sure I understood. How exactly this Flashback Effect looks like?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepia_tone
It's a style during tv shows, animation, movies etc. where a flashback scene (a scene where one is remember something that already happened) is painted over in a sepia tone. It got popular usage due to the fact that old photographs used sepia toning.

You mean the static here right? Btw, what do you think about what I have done for the TV Turning Off thing? No one gived me an opinion so far so I am unsure.
As far as I remember, we all thought it was fine. My memory of it is foggy though :heh:

You know, I don't really like that idea of hidding Kyonko and Itsuko face until they meting Kyon. Is not like their face is a secret or something like that, so is kinda awkward.
It's fine if their face is seen from a side angle, or something. I guess the whole "not fully showing them till they are introuduced to Kyon" isn't necessary, but I really liked the idea.

Oh, and as for Greentext, I wrote this a while back, but here it is in a better context.

Director,

I heard from my division chief that you'd been investigating the possibility of other entities created or affected by Factor-1.

Well, last night, the routine patrol found the following... I guess it's a poem... scrawled on the wall of some abandoned apartment building. They made a record of it before they erased it, and I figured I should sent it to you.

The weirdest thing is that entire poem was written in some sort of... substance... that had the consistency of blood, but was entirely green.

Here it is, as follows.

An Ode to a Dream the Color of Faint Harlequin

I am alone in my world.

I am a princess.

I sit on a throne in the middle of a city which is in the middle of my world.

The throne is made of emerald and malachite. The city is made of jade.

The world is made of green.

I am alone in my world. All alone.

I am a child.

I have just begun my existence in the world.

It is fragile, but it is there.

I hope to have a funny time with you all.

I am a child. Being born for the 15532nd time.

No one understands me.

Not my family, not my father.

Not my friends, no one at school.

No one at home, nobody.

No one understands me. I hate everyone.

I have decided that everything is funny.

There is no way around it.

I simply have to laugh, as I watch my life burn away.

My precious XXX die right before my eyes.

My beaten and broken body, my torn clothes.

The walls of the basement.

The slow, crawling motions that signal the oncoming pain.

I must laugh. What else is there in life?

I have decided that everything is funny. Including death.

There's blood everywhere.

The first time I came home like this, everyone panicked.

Now no one seems to care. It's funny.

Of course, so is everything.

There's blood everywhere. On my soul, too.

I have the power to grant wishes.

When I pointed at the ugly plant in the corner that no one wanted,

It turned into a flock of fruit bats which flew away.

Did that even happen? I don't know anymore.

I have the power to grant wishes. Except my own.

I have the power to kill as I please.

After I do so, I laugh. It's only proper to do so.

Never show the enemy weakness.

It encourages them to sing carols. Or something.

I have the power to kill as I please. You're my next target.

I have the power to steal from others.

Sometimes I know things I shouldn't know.

Or can do things I couldn't do.

It's magic~. Or is it reality?

Red and Green are the colors of Christmas.

I have the power to steal from others. Power, and memory.

I have the power to make sandwiches.

Would you like yours on rye? Whole wheat?

Mayo, or mustard?

Your left pinky finger, or your right? Or maybe your eyes?

Chow down. It's delicious.

I have the power to make sandwiches. Out of you.

Lately I've been thinking.

Have I gone insane?

Have gone I insane?

Insane have I gone?

Gone I insane have?

Yes I have.

Have I yes.

I yes have.

Lately I've been thinking. But not too much.

Heehahaha.

Hohohoheeha.

Hahahahaheeha.

Ohohohohohoho.

Heehahaha. Hahaho.

Green, everything must be green.

I'll PAINT IT GREEN.

Paint the world as green as I want.

But that would cause national disasters.

I'll simply create a world of my own.

Where I can paint at my leisure.

Green, everything must be green. Teal, jade, myrtle, forest. All of it.

I have discovered something.

Creating and destroying at will is fun.

I can do that now. I can do anything.

So long as it's green. Green is the best,

Watch as the polar caps implode, dooming our planet forever.

Watch as I move the Earth just a bit closer to the sun.

Watch as I screw with everything ever.

I have discovered something. I'm god.

I am the Sovereign of the Universe.

I am the Empress of Everything.

The Duchess of Delight.

The Destroyer of Worlds, and the Creator of New Ones.

The Emerald Witch.

I have many names, all of them perfectly accurate.

Every day species from every system comes to worship me.

I am the Sovereign of the Universe. For all time.

I am the beginning and the end.

I am the Alpha and the Omega.

I created the universe and the stars and the sky.

I created the plants and the trees and the animals.

I created all that has come before and that will come after.

I created you.

And when the time comes I will kill it all with my own hands.

And I will enjoy it.

I am the beginning and the end. But mostly the end.

When the universe ends, I return.

I am now in the world I created.

The world of green.

I skip through the green grass, under a green sky, under a green sun.

As usual, I greet an old friend, who lives there now.

I am happy to see him again.

When the universe ends, I return. Back home.

I am alone in my world.

I am a princess.

I sit on a throne in the middle of a city which is in the middle of my world.

The throne is made of emerald and malachite. The city is made of jade.

The world is made of green.

I am alone in my world. Except for one other.

The division chief said it reminded him of Factor-1, but honestly sir, my only reaction to this is "...what?"

Maybe you'll be able to make some sense of it.

....too many posts to read....is it worth reading all 990 pages, or should i just read from this on? what do you guys think?:heh:

In my signature there's a link to the Visual Novel Archive (and at the very bottom of that, a link to the General Archive). For "Current events" the VN Archive is more helpful, however the General Archive has a lot of good backstory, including links to all the novel rewrite posts which are pretty much required reading.

If you're insane though, you could always read from page 1... :heh:

How does voice mail work if the phone is no longer in the same universe? I'm curious.

The division chief said it reminded him of Factor-1, but honestly sir, my only reaction to this is "...what?"

Maybe you'll be able to make some sense of it.

Voice mail works even when your phone is turned off. Voice mails and text messages nowadays are kept on the cell phone carrier's server, then routed to you when you connect to their service with your cell phone. Similar to how e-mail works.

Your "letters" remind me of the random pieces of information you find throughout DOOM 3. E-mails, text messages, reports etc. about some secret project. Except in the latter it's a gateway to hell... :|

Hey Kaisos, no gateways to hell please.

EDIT:
Oh, misinterpreted what Kaisos meant. Yeah, the numbers Haruki is calling don't exist anymore (I'm guessing). I wouldn't be surprised if all traces of the SOS-dan had disappeared when they all got pulled over to the other side for good, with the only ones vaguely remembering being those close to Haruki. Is this correct?

I got to about page 100 before I gave up and just read through the official rewrites and the visual novel. I would also suggest reading Aebliss's Setsubuun fanfic, which I'm pretty sure is linked in the General Archive.

As for the greentext... Well, that's actually what we're discussing. Kaisos and the Danchou know, and apparently Heatth and Kogetsu Shirogane know... but I think the rest of us are still in the dark. (Which I enjoy, by the way, as much as I might complain about it. There's something thrilling about not knowing a story element before it's revealed.)

... Come on... green? I did the whole card shtick a while back? It should be obvious... Provided I'm being serious, at any rate.

That... actually didn't help me at all.

I'm probably overthinking, though... it's sort of what I do. :heh:

...What is a 'Bush-ism'. The president? He was famous for mistaking words?

Anyway, I remember reading 'isremember' in a school book. So I can't see why you don't like it.Bush... was not the best at speaking extemporaneously (AKA off of script). While I don't think he actually made up too many words, he became synonymous with butchering the English language in that particular fashion. Misremember is not a commonly used word, and sounds similar to a number of the mistakes he made, so... I have an instinctively bad reaction to it.

Oh, and as for Greentext, I wrote this a while back, but here it is in a better context.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepia_tone
It's a style during tv shows, animation, movies etc. where a flashback scene (a scene where one is remember something that already happened) is painted over in a sepia tone. It got popular usage due to the fact that old photographs used sepia toning.

I see. I was afraid you are talking about that horrible wite borders. :p

Anyway, ren'py has a image altering function, im.Sepia, solely for that purpose. So, yeah, don't worry about it. :heh:

It's fine if their face is seen from a side angle, or something. I guess the whole "not fully showing them till they are introuduced to Kyon" isn't necessary, but I really liked the idea.

I would like it, however, I feel they only met Kyon too late. I have no problem in following that rule in the rpologue, as the 3 girls are me right in the begining, however, both Kyonko and Itsuko have a big role in the story before they met Kyon (bigger then the 3 main girls, btw). So I felt don't giving then proper CGs is kinda strange and unnatural.

KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAISOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS

GODDAMN YOU.

GOD. DAMN. YOU.

I just wasted an hour trying to write up why each of the Prime Universe and Seitenkan Universe girls would be Greentext, and I just realized the ultimate question about that bitch!

Here's an excerpt from what was going to be the end of my essay.

But, we, the followers who have not figured it out, must ask ourselves before any speculation is properly conducted: "What are Greentext's intentions?" Is it to keep Kyonko all to herself? If so, I have to believe that it is Haruhi Suzumiya herself. Is it simply Kyonko's survival? If so, I would have to fall back on my "Kyonko is Greentext" Theory.

fuck you kaisos.

fuck you vivify93's writing ability.

EDIT: for those who don't want to click the spoilers for very brief and short excerpts on my theories, the ultimate question about The Green Bitch™ is "What are Greentext's intentions?"

and if they were revealed someone please point me to them.

Does that mean that Greentext is the world's Heartless? (Because yes, Kaisos, this does need to be EVEN MORE Kingdom Hearts.)

I posted this quite a while ago.

I got bored, so I wrote this based off of otai's earlier stuff.

“...Although Factor-1 has begun to stabilize in recent months, startling new developments continue to worry me.

The first is the discovery, upon further interrogation of captured members of the Renegade faction, that they have the ability to enter a type of Sealed Reality that we do not.

The second is the discovery of individuals that can only be described as 'half-espers': beings with powers similar to our own ESPER agents, yet different, and not connected to Factor-1 at all.

The last is a report from our ESPER agents located in close proximity to Factor-1, my own son included. This report states that, in addition to expressing a desire to make contact with entities that we have already discovered, Factor-1 also wishes to meet with other, stranger, darker creatures, such as ghosts, monsters, or oni.

What worries me personally is that all three of the above are connected in some way.

If my theories on the true nature of Factor-1 are indeed correct, then, in time, such creatures should indeed emerge, if they have not already, as evidenced by the appearance and growing number of 'half-espers'.

It seems clear to me that, if such creatures were discovered, they would pose a threat to all of humanity, and Recommendation No. 4 would have to be initiated at that time.

As a final note, although it may seem fairly incredible to many members of the Agency, Factor-1 is a noted manga addict. According to the testimony of my son, many of the strange events surrounding her are lifted directly from stock manga scenarios.

The question I finish my report with is: What happens when Factor-1 wishes to establish the cliché 'rival' character?

Would it be another 'god'? Or would it, instead, be a 'demon'?”

Btw, her parents would also not work.

Attractive New Face

"/"Late/" is the word one would use to describe my current position."

"I was woken up earlier than usual by both my sister and my mother, who insisted I fix the vine trellis. Somehow, during the night, it had fallen, which would account for that crash I heard last night. "

"Though, how could a few pieces of wood and leaves make such a loud noise?"

"It’s because of all that that I had to rush out the door with only a piece of toast for breakfast."

"There certainly are weird things going on these days, and all around my house. If I told Haruhi why I was late this morning, she’d want to go over immediately. Better not."

"It’s not like I’d have that chance, given how late I am."

"There’s still a few students around on the hill, but none of them seem to be in a hurry. It looks like they’ve given up on arriving on time, but I…"

"Wait, why am I even trying at all? Is it that important for me to not hear /"You’re late/"?"

"It’s not like I—"

"…"

"Huh. There’s a girl I don’t know who’s not even walking at all. She’s just looking around, as though she can’t find her way."

"The reason she sticks out so much to me is because she’s incredibly pretty. She’s fairly tall, with brown wavy hair, beautifully shaped legs, and a good-sized bust. What Taniguchi would call an AA+… really, she looks like a supermodel."

"She really does look lost.... Her uniform looks brand new, as well. Maybe a new transfer student…?"

"Hm."

[DECISION POINT HERE]

1) I’ll be even later at this rate. And besides…
2) …Go ask her if she needs help.

Late, Late, Late

"If I stop to try and chat with random passerby, I’ll be even later than I already am."

"…Besides, if she is a new transfer student, and Haruhi catches wind of her, I’ll have brought misfortune upon both our heads. If you look at it this way, I’m doing her a favor."

"Better just keep going. Goodbye, AA+ girl."

For a Very Important Date

"If she really is in trouble, the right thing to do would be to help her."

"That’s chivalry at its finest."

Kyon "Yo. You lost?"

Pretty Girl "Ah, not exactly. Just waiting for some… one…"

"As she turns to look at me, her eyes widen slightly. She looks me up and down, and then, her face breaks into a playful, fox-like smile."

Pretty Girl "Good morning. How are you?"

"I didn’t know it was so unnerving to be stared at like that. That smile seems eerily familiar, too."

"…It makes her look even prettier, though."

Kyon "Uh, er, good morning… you’re… new around… here, right?"

Pretty Girl "Hmm, you might say that. More importantly… have you ever read anything by Carl Jung?"

"An odd question."

Kyon "Jung? The psychiatrist? Yeah, a little. Why?"

Pretty Girl "Well then, you know about the concept of /"anima/" and /"animus/", right?"

Kyon "Er… the subconscious part of your brain that’s the opposite gender, or something?"

Pretty Girl "Yes. The /"totality of the unconscious masculine psychological qualities that a female possesses/", or vice versa. The seat of the mind’s creativity."

"Is this going somewhere…?"

Pretty Girl "So, my question to you is, what would you do if you were stuck in a world where everyone you knew was replaced by their animus or anima? If, say, you met your anima, what would you tell her?"

"…What a strange person. She’s starting to remind me a lot of Koizumi…"

Kyon "I… guess I’d thank her for all her hard work?"

Pretty Girl "Hmm. I’ll do so then. Thanks."

Kyon "No problem."

"I don’t have a clue what you’re on about, though."

Pretty Girl "By the way, it’s nice to meet you. I’m… Yamada. Kitsuko Yamada."

"That’s a… pretty unique name."

"I introduce myself, but I don’t think she quite heard me, as a truck was passing by at the time."

"Still, she smiles again when I repeat it."

Kitsuko "Of course. That makes sense."

Kyon "What makes sense?"

Kitsuko "Nothing, really."

"And, at that moment, I heard the bell go off from far away."

Kyon "Crap. We gotta run."

"I had taken a few steps before I realized Yamada wasn’t following me."

Kyon "…You’re not going to class?"

Kitsuko "Ah, no, forgive me. I’m still waiting for someone. It was nice talking to you though, Kyon-kun."

Kyon "Nice talking to you, too."

"…I just had an actual conversation with what must be the most beautiful transfer student of all time. If Haruhi finds out that was the reason I was [I]this late, I’m dead."

"It was only when I got to my shoe locker that it hit me. "

"Yamada had called me /"Kyon-kun/", but I had never given her that name."

"This odd realization, however, was beaten out of my head when I realized my indoor shoes were missing."

"…Can this day get any weirder…?"So Kyon likes girls with vaguely predatory smiles and the ability to ask philosophical questions out of the blue, hmm...?

Edit: Fix'd. How'd I miss that...?

I'm standing by my "Greentext is Everyone" Theory. Therefore, I'm also sticking with "Greentext is Kaisosko" and "Greentext is Kyonko".

Greentext is the result of everyone's feelings of evil at the end of all the routes. She festered and grew as a conglomeration of everyone's hatred. Thus, she is everyone. Data is her; she is data.

Haruhi "…Wait, why are you wearing visitor’s slippers?"

Kyon "Sssh. It’s class time."

"For that line, I received a mechanical pencil to the neck."

"…?"

"I get the feeling that someone’s watching me. "

"I look over at the door just as I see it slide shut. I also see a flash of brown hair."

"It’s Girl A. What is she doing?"

"…"

"Another poke from the mechanical pencil redirects my attention to where it should be."

Why Am I the Thief?

"I slip off my outdoor shoes and shove them into my shoe locker. "

Kyon "Well then, best be going."

"I say as I slip on my indoor shoes."

Girl A "Wh--? Hey, I’m not done talking to you yet!"

Kyon "Bye."

"Now, let’s just head to class."

Girl A "G-get back here, you thief!"

"You’re one to talk, Girl A."

[Scene: Classroom]

"I quietly slipped into class, making apologetic motions at Okabe-sensei, who merely rolled his eyes and continued talking."

"Haruhi, however…"

Haruhi "…I think this is the latest you’ve ever been."

Caution

Kyon "…Look, I would give you these shoes, but… they’re way too big for you. Let’s find you another pair, quickly?"

Girl A "Who else is going to be this late?"

"Well, I can think of… no, we’ve [s]driven that gag into the ground already been through that one already." [Ed Note: Since it's entirely possible to get this line only once before, "driven into the ground" is a bit much.]

"I quickly start flipping open shoe lockers, looking for a pair of as-yet untaken indoor shoes. I manage to find a pair of the appropriate size among the second-year lockers. I barely register the name scrawled inside them as beginning with “Tsuru-“ before Girl A takes them from me."

Kyon "…You don’t mind pretending to be my senpai for today?"

Girl A "No, no, not at all. Thanks for the help."

"She hands me my indoor shoes. Why did this feel like blackmail?"

Kyon "…It’s no trouble at all."

"We separate at the bottom of the stairs… wait, where is she going, anyway?"

Girl A "See you around, and thanks!"

"Her ponytail moves up and down as she walks away."

"…Huh."

[Scene: Classroom]

Someone’s Watching

"I quietly slipped into class, making apologetic motions at Okabe-sensei, who merely rolled his eyes and continued talking."

"…And Haruhi, surprisingly, doesn’t say a word either."

Kyon "What, no comment?"

Haruhi "…Nice slippers, Kyon."

Kyon "Why, thanks."

"Wait, that’s not how it’s supposed to go! Well, whatever."

"…?"

"I get the feeling that someone’s watching me. "

"I look over at the door just as I see it slide shut. I also see a flash of brown hair."

"…Who on earth could that be? Yamada? Why would she even come by here?"

"I wonder..."

"…With those thoughts in mind, I turn to the front, and concentrate my attention on where it should be."

FFV's was fun. You're doing perfectly nothing, perfectly!

FFVI's wasn't as fun. No fun at all.
Either or. FFVI's was a homage to FFV's, remember. Also, if you use him right, he can be tons of fun! Need an extra thief? Equip the "Steal" command! Need an extra blue mage? Equip the "Lores" command! Need an extra ninja, wild youth, rune knight, monk, machinist, moogle? Equip the "Throw", "Rage", "Runic", "Blitz", "Tools", or "Dance" commands! Need an extra pictomancer, samurai, or gambler for some ungodly reason? Equip the "Sketch", "Bushido", or "Slots" commands! ...And of course we get the Plain Jane "Attack", "Magic", and "Items" commands.

That wouldn't work. That tecnology level kept improving from FFI to, at last FFVIII(I didn't played the others). Also, it isn't like they have planed so far. They didn'teven belivethe firs Final Fantasywould becomsofamous.

Oh, yeah, FFV's Gogo ismore interesting then FFVI's one. However, this is because the latter becomes a main character (so he becomes flat after the first time we see him). The are, actually, the same character. 9all the extra 3 characters from FFVI, Mog, Umaro and Gogo, are not good, btw.

Oh, yeah, the mimic class is awesome in FFV. Gogo is just as awesome, exept he has not characterization (so is kinda a waist raplacing a talking character).

We were kinda talking about the old games, however (FFV and FFVI). In these games, for some reason, or the main character was female (Terra and Celes in FFVI) or more then half of the party was female (FFV, 5 characters, 3 girls).

Anyway, I was just joking. Tough I would like to see how th hell make Faris (FFV) story be possible in a gender bend universe. She was a princess razed by piretes while was faking being man (to avoid being raped) and ended up be the captain. How the hell we we would make a Prince crossdressing as a woman? For which reason?

Don't need to think too much, tough. As I said, I was not serious.

That's actually rather easy. Do the same damn thing, only reversed. It's not entirely impossible for there to be a guy who's afraid of a large group of women utilizing him as a sex slave, and the series has plenty of male characters who could pass for female. Heck, that tradition, like so many others, started with the previous game. :heh:

I'm still standing by the "no bending video games" thing, I'm just explaining that Faris' situation could be done.

...I is just plain weird having a all female pirate group tough. Also, Faris was not that young when she get missed and found by pirates.Given her personality, it would be strange for her(if she was a he) to crossdressing as a woman, isnted stand up and fight. However, her personality was kinda just like that because she had to fake she was a man. So, no idea how she would be if she was a crosdressing man.

Anyway, why not beding video game characters? Might not work here, but I can see a genderbended Chrono Trigger, for exemple.... That would be awesome, btw.

Actually, the female of Magus would be Maga, I believe (Magus is male of the latim for 'mage', Maga would be the female form). In japanese I belive it would be Maouhi(Devil Queen) insted his original name Maou(Devil King).

It's soooo obvious. Then again, I had my suspicions confirmed pretty early in the project... ┐('~`;)┌

I don't have any idea of how the sotrage of that messages works. But, if the cellfones aren't in the universe anymore, wouldn't the server just think they are turned off? And, when(if) they back, they would have their mesage again?

The difference is whether the cellphone doesn't exist in that universe anymore, or if any trace of the rest of the SOS-dan doesn't exist in that universe anymore...
In the latter case, there'd be no voicemail to call, because those phone numbers aren't being used by anyone.

Right, but The Green Bitch™ is capable of sliding, apparently. She is the only one.

...Right, Kaisos? Please don't get my hopes up...

Sliding? Nyahahahahahaha~
Why be limited to something so booooring as sliding?
It's like I'm really Kaisos

Also, just in case, I've seen a much better genderbent list around too. As you can see, I got a little sloppy with some of the classmates back then. And I think the reason I made it so tiny in the first place was that it looked rather... not pretty... if bigger.

I'm not sure, but I think I put in the name Haruki instead of Haruhiko because I didn't know too much about the Japanese fandom back then. Maybe... then again, the whole Haruki vs. Haruhiko part isn't exactly new information to me either. Uh, so it could have been an intentional choice too.

Well, it was a year already. The tread haven't even reached 100 pages yet. (it was page 53,by the way).

But, why are everything in japanese?Imean, you took the time to edit out the random text and to change Haruki's name. Well, I guess is simpler edit a single character then translating everyone. You probably just left in japanese to fi the rest. And use Harui because it was what you weremore used to.

I most likely just didn't know enough Japanese to actually translate the names and so on. I did have a translation (apparently, as I found a translated version of the original one together with those two images), but I guess I was just plain lazy.

Also, I noticed that I've just copied the "ki" in Kyon and replaced the "hi" in Haruhi with it. Apparently, making it Haruki instead of Haruhiko was the easy way out as well. Didn't need to make the "ko" from scratch... Which honestly probably wouldn't have taken me any longer than what I actually did, but oh well.

The first time I saw Haruki and Kyonko, I thought "Haruhi and Kyon just basically swapped bodies". I suspect this was done intentionally to make photoshopping easier (i.e. a Haruhi/Kyon scene becomes a Haruki/Kyonko scene, simply by making the guy in the Kyon position Haruki instead and making the girl in Haruhi's position Kyonko instead).

As time goes on, I can notice little nuances where Haruki looks different from Kyon, and Haruhi looks different from Kyonko, but in the beginning... yeah, I felt the way that you did. :)

Well, Kyon at the end of the Endless Eight is similar to Haruki. Also, all the four have the same interests(aline and stuff), even if two of then have already gived up.

I also think their physical similaritys was on purpose.

Kyonko's body is a rip-of from Yuki's. But her hair and face is more similar to Haruhi. It might be related to many of the orignal images being screenshots of Haruhi photoshoped.

It's a longer version of Yuki's, but brown and in a ponytail. Her face is pretty much the only part not derived from Yuki. :heh:

Poot Kyonko. Kaisos really is a bastard to her huh?

It can even be argued that this is taken from Yuki, only replace "Kaisos" with "Tanigawa." I mean, damn. Is there any story focusing on the poor girl that doesn't have a somewhat depressing tone to the ending? :heh:

Disagree. Her hair is, apropriately enough, a longer version of Kyon's, with a ponytail. And this ponytail is very similar to Haruhi's one (in Disappearance).

- Mitsuuru's more agressive with Itsuko.
- Itsuko gets more lines.
- Tsuruya gets more lines.
- Tsuruya is more awesome.
- An actual ending to the fic! *gasp*
- Various shit added to the beginning and end of the spoiler tags.

Nice.

One question, though... what's up with the "megas" stuff?
The episodes and novel translations I watched/read had Tsuruya-F say "megas", or "megassa" as it was originally, as an...oh fuck, I should've paid more attention in English class. An adjective? Like, she'd say "megas-fun" instead of "really fun" or "mega fun" or "super fun". I liked "megas" better than "megassa", and I liked it better than the dub's version of her tacking it on at the end of her sentences like "nyoro".

So...yeah. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me, but I'm not revising the fic anymore.

I don't know Japanese, but I suppose once they saw she had an accent with the megassa/nyoro thing, it wouldn't be too difficult to get it down. Difficult? Maybe. But not a Sisyphian labor. Personally, I just had Tsuruya-M slang a lot.

Tsuruya's use of "megas/megassa" is her version of the adjective "mega"... it's due to her fang-induced lisp.

"Mega" is an adjective very specific to the Osaka region of Japan, where Haruhi takes place... were it halfway accurate, everyone would be talking like Tsuruya does. :heh:

If any of this is inaccurate, please someone correct me... I learned it watching Abenobashi, so...

Advocator, reporting in. Haha, yeah I wrote the script for the doujin you're referring to. Kang Seung was going to get a Korean artist he knew to draw it up for the comiket that was coming up back then, but it just never happened. Then Kang disappeared.

If only I could draw :heh:

IIRC the main plot line was something like, "Kyon has to have his penis inside Kyonko at locations x, y, z, wearing outfits a, b, c" with a nice Yuki infodump explaining the horribly convenient excuse for why this would save the universe.
And then it ends with Haruhi walking in on them at the last location (which happens to be the clubroom).

Itsuko "Are you feeling alright?"

"We were heading towards the stairwell in the Old Shack."

Kyonko "…What makes you ask that?"

Itsuko "You keep tugging on your left sleeve as though you're trying to hide something."

"Ugh. Why do you have to notice every little detail?"

Kyonko "I would prefer that remain a secret for now."

Itsuko "Haha, touche. I'll leave you with your secrets, as you will leave me with mine."

"That sounds rather like an ultimatum."

Itsuko "You think so? That was not my intention."

"...I'm glad we're friends, Itsuko."

Itsuko "Me too."

"The place where we were meeting Asahina-senpai and Nagato was that little place at the top of the stairwell that acts as some sort of storage for the art club, a location I've been to a few times. Interestingly, this is the first time I haven't been carried there."

Mitsuuru "Kyon-chan!"

"The minute Asahina-senpai sees me come up the stairs, he rushes forward as though to hug me... but stops short, and puts his arms behind his back, embarrassed."

"Aww. You don't need to feel that way, Asahina-senpai. You can hug me any time."

Mitsuuru "A-Are you feeling better, Kyon-chan?"

"...Better?"

Kyonko "I'm feeling pretty good, yeah."

"Aside from the creepy imprints on my arms, yeah, I'm fine."

Mitsuuru "Thank god... I was so worried, with what you said yesterday and all... and since you were all alone last night, I figured..."

Kyonko "…? What did I say yesterday?"

Mitsuuru "Well, you know about-- er, nothing."

"…?"

"His eyes had darted over to Itsuko as he said that."

Kyonko "…What's up with you two?"

Itsuko "I would prefer that remain a secret for now."

"Are we going to be firing that back and forth all day?"

"It was then that the state of the only other person in the stairwell distracted me."

"Nagato was standing away from all of us, facing the corner. Honestly, he seemed to have even less presence than usual."

Kyonko "...Nagato...?"

Yuuki "All resources spent maintaining key programs. Noninterference would be appreciated."

Kyonko "...What?"

Mitsuuru "He was like that when I got here, too... he just keeps saying that. I think he's broken."

Itsuko "He mentioned something like that last night, as well. He seems to be having trouble keeping himself active without the support of the TFEI main server."

Kyonko "…"

Itsuko "In any case, now that we are, indeed, on the other side, I would like to continue our meeting from yesterday. So, first... why do we not discuss the nature of this universe, now that we have spent more time in it?"

"Her eyes dart towards Asahina-senpai, who flinches. He was her main opponent yesterday, after all."

"Before Itsuko can come out with her latest garbage, I should come up with something."

Kyonko "...Actually... I have something to point out."

Itsuko "Oh? Please, go on."

Kyonko "The other day, I had been thinking about a theory I once heard... something about how each choice you make spawns an entirely different universe for each choice, leading to an infinite number of universes where each choice is played out...."

Itsuko "I assume it was our endless summer that caused this line of thinking."

Kyonko "...Yeah. What I had thought was the following possibility: What if every single one of the fifteen thousand-odd--"

Yuuki "Fifteen thousand four hundred and ninety-eight."

Kyonko "Er, thank you, Nagato. What if every single one of those universes didn't loop back... but continued on instead? I know that's probably impossible, but what if this universe was similar? Like..."

Itsuko "...I'm starting to see where you're going with this. You're talking about Everett's Many-Worlds Interpretation, correct? You're saying that we're in a world where several people we all know just happened to be born the opposite gender."

"Thank you for stealing my thunder, Itsuko."

Mitsuuru "Wait, wait. I'm sorry, Kyon-chan, but the Many-Worlds Interpretation isn't even accurate."

Itsuko "Oh, how so?"

Mitsuuru "It can't be proven, for one thing."

Itsuko "And? That doesn't mean it's wrong."

Mitsuuru "Oh, come on. You should know better than to use that defense. An absence of proof is not proof of the thing itself. Furthermore, modern theories like Einstein's special relativity are all solved by assuming one universe."

Itsuko "Funny you should bring up something like physics. Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't time travel itself break established laws of physics?"

Mitsuuru "I... that's classified, I can't..."

Itsuko "Exactly."

"Itsuko turns to me."

Itsuko "It's a well-thought-out idea, but it really doesn't explain why we are here... or why the Suzumiya-san in this universe has any sort of power. Fortunately, I have several explanations."

"Oh, here we go."NERD-RAGE against Mitsuuru...

Itsuko "The way I see it, there could be three possibilities. One we have already discussed."

Mitsuuru "The one where Suzumiya-san created the universe we're in right now out of boredom, right? Like I said, he can't be that powerf--"

Itsuko "Let me finish. Yes, this universe could have been created by our Suzumiya-san... but since there seems to be another Suzumiya-san in this universe with similar abilities, I doubt that is entirely the case."

"Not to mention, that feeling I had when I woke up on this side last night... that feeling of waking up for the first time."

"As though our own world was nothing but a dream..."

Mitsuuru "How do you even know that the Suzumiya-san on this side even has powers?"

Itsuko "Given what Nagato and your kouhai here experienced on this side yesterday, it is surmisable that this version of Suzumiya-san shares his powers, as it is clear that something that is at least similar to the Data Overmind exists. Correct?"

"Nagato turns around, nods briefly and turns back around again. …He did mention that he was connected to something while we were jumping around the school building, didn't he..."

"Asahina-senpai rolls his eyes and says nothing."

Itsuko "Anyway, this possibility doesn't quite work with what we already know... why would we moving to this universe if our universe was the original one? I doubt Suzumiya-san wants to be rid of us."

Kyonko "Wasn't it only me that was sliding over to this universe?"

Mitsuuru "Rippling."

Kyonko "Huh?"

Mitsuuru "...You kept correcting me yesterday. You said you were /"rippling over./" Don't you remember?"

Kyonko: "…"

Mitsuuru "Are you really okay, Kyon-chan?"

"Would you all please stop trying to convince me that I'm crazy!?"

Itsuko "/*ahem/* In any case, you're correct. I can imagine Suzumiya-san wanting to get rid of you even less."

"Also, stop insinuating things like that."

Itsuko "A possibility that makes more sense, therefore, would be the other one I raised yesterday: That our world, not this one, is the creation."

Mitsuuru "…"

Kyonko "...I don't like that. That means none of us really exist, right?"

Itsuko "Perhaps. However, 'I think, therefore I exist', right? Even if our origins are not what we imagined them to be, we are still here."

Mitsuuru "Could we, like, not discuss this possibility? You have no proof, and it's not exactly comforting..."

"Itsuko shifts her stance a little."

Itsuko "Who said I didn't have any proof? And besides, I'm just getting to the good part."

"I get the feeling that she's only just begun."

Itsuko "Even if we assume this possibility as true, there are still several points I must make. One is that the Suzumiya-san of our world and the Suzumiya-san of this world seem to retain the same powers. Obviously, this raises a few questions. For one, how could the Suzumiya-san here create an alternate version of herself without the knowledge of her own powers? If she was aiming to create an exact yet gender-flipped replica of herself, our Suzumiya-san would not possess the powers he currently holds."

Kyonko "Wait, wait. Why would this world's Haruki have to have knowledge of her powers to do something like this? If it's all subconscious, why would knowledge of anything matter?"

Itsuko "Ah, excellent point. I did not think of that. So, the question becomes... why are you being dragged over to this side at all? Why are we stuck here, now? I will put forth this question: What if our world is slowly, ever so slowly, folding into this one? What if this world's Suzumiya-san, who created our world, is beginning to forget about us? We can assume that, if she did, our world would cease to exist, and we, in this world, would be all that remains..."

"…"

"I don't want to even consider this."

Kyonko "...I didn't really catch all of that, but if the two Harukis have the same power, why can't our Haruki support our world on his own?"

Itsuko "Hmm. Consider this: let's keep assuming that the Suzumiya-san of this world did create the Suzumiya-san of our world, creating him with the same powers as herself."

Kyonko "Yeah?"

Itsuko "As the Suzumiya-san of this world is the one who gave our Suzumiya-san his power, she is the one who is supplying him with those powers in the first place; therefore, if she no longer wishes for him to have powers, our Suzumiya-san will also lose all of his powers, as they are connected to hers. ...Unless.."

"Itsuko placed her chin in her left hand for a second. I could tell that she was straining to properly evaluate all the possibilities that she could discern, as usual."

Kyonko "Yes, yes, please go on."

Itsuko "... Well, there perhaps is a certain unquantifiable chance that the Suzumiya-san of this world is no longer in contact with the power that our Suzumiya-san has, and ergo, is unable to lessen or manipulate those powers from afar. In sharp contrast to what Einstein may expect a being like the Suzumiya-san of this world to do, perhaps that Suzumiya-san has chosen to play dice with our universe, as it is; infusing it and her male copy with immense power, and then allowing it to forever more play out as it will."

Kyonko "I like this idea better. ...I still don't like the idea that we're just 'fakes'--"

Mitsuuru "I agree!"

Kyonko "But I like this idea better I definitely prefer this idea. It makes our universe less... volatile, right?"

Itsuko "Probably. There are still many undetermined variables that I will need to find a way to account for in order to come to a firmer stance on just what we are facing. For the moment, however, it may be best to prepare for the worst."

"The worst, huh? I always hate it when Itsuko sounds like that..."

Mitsuuru "Hold on a minute, Koizumi-chan. You said there were three possibilities. You've only brought up two."

Itsuko "But don't you find this one so much more compelling?"

Mitsuuru "...No."

Itsuko "*sigh* Alternatively, as a third possibility, I simply have the extremely inaccurate Many-Worlds Interpretation. There could be multiple self-sustaining universes, a number of which have managed to produce some form of Haruki, perhaps male, perhaps female, with or without his powers."

"I'd like to live in the /"Haruki without powers universe/" personally. Could we find a universe where he isn't such an oaf, too?"

Itsuko "By this interpretation, this universe we find ourselves in is one where some people, perhaps only those within and surrounding the SOS brigade, are of the opposite gender. But, like I said much earlier, this possibility doesn't account for things we already--"

Mitsuuru "Then, well, shouldn't we find something that makes that possibility work? Anything else is unacceptable. I refuse to believe I'm just a contrived copy."

Itsuko "Hmm, well then..."

"Itsuko's perpetual smile widens further, reaching her eyes."

Itsuko "If it makes you feel more comfortable, what about this? We were summoned here as a result of this universe's version of Suzumiya-san attempting to steal the powers of our Suzumiya-san."

Kyonko "Wait, how does that work at all?"

Mitsuuru "It doesn't...?"

"And if that's true, why am I the one, er, /"rippling over/" if...

[ED NOTE: Umm...? Was the incomplete line here intentional?

Itsuko "If that is the case, then it is probable that this universe's version of Suzumiya-san (let's call her "Haruna-chan" for short) is simply incapable of pulling our Suzumiya-san out of his universe. Suzumiya-san isn't resisting Haruna-chan's theft of his powers because he doesn't know anything is going on, but she can't pull him into a different universe because that goes against Suzumiya's common sense."

Kyonko "What about me? You keep forgetting the part about why I'm being pulled here."

Itsuko "Ah, yes, that is important. Perhaps because you are the person closest to Suzumiya-san-"

"Yeah, right!"

Itsuko "-you have been locked onto as the nearest equivalent to him."

Kyonko "That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever."

Itsuko "Ohoho~. Does it really not? Then how about this? Haruna's feelings for this universe's version of you have been transmitted from this universe to ours and pulled you here."

Kyonko "That... is very creepy. Whatever. You're saying that this is all a big cosmic tug-of-war?"

Itsuko "Yes, exactly. Think of it, say, like this. In one universe, there is a Haruki Suzumiya-san with infinite power, while in the other, as a counterbalance, there must exist a Haruna Suzumiya-chan with infinite power, to keep the various alternate dimensions in balance. However, since the infinite is indivisible, the power is fluctuating, oscillating between the two, creating a current between the dimensions as it shifts from one Suzumiya-san (or -chan) to the other while attempting to achieve an impossible balance: by definition of their nature, both Suzumiyas should have infinite power. By its own definition, the infinite power can not be wielded by two entities simultaneously, or it would be divided and thus less than infinite. As the power flows to and fro, people are dragged along with its current. The fact that you are being drawn into this world, rather than people being drawn to ours seems to indicate that the power is starting to shift most strongly to the Haruna-chan side."

"…Huh. That's actually pretty good."

Mitsuuru "Pretty good for something she thought up on the spot, you mean."

Itsuko "...Oh?"

Mitsuuru "Kyon-chan, Koizumi-chan's reasoning is, like usual, not exactly, how should I say, well-thought-out. Infinity doesn't work like she's saying."

Kyonko "How so?"

Mitsuuru "Say Suzumiya-san's power really is infinite. Isn't it greater than both Suzumiyas? Wouldn't it just encompass them? Suzumiya-san is very energetic, but he isn't infinite. Even he gets tired and hungry after a while. So, even if the Suzumiyas have some kind of 'power', it either encompasses them and these dimensional shifts are due to something different, or their power is not infinite."

Itsuko "Or one universe, probably ours, is merely a creation of the other Suzumiya-san."

Mitsuuru "Unacceptable, like I said. Why does it have to be Suzumiya-san who pulled Kyon-chan over to this side? Couldn't it be something else, like--"

Itsuko "Tell me, Asahina-san. Have you tried to contact the future yet?"

Mitsuuru "…? No, why would I? It's not my future."

Itsuko "Because you might find out something useful about the nature of this world. I, on the other hand, spent the last night in contact with this world's equivalent of the Agency I belong to. "

"So that explains the uniform... and everything else, then."

Mitsuuru "Wh--? That... I..."

Itsuko "In any case, there's something far more important than figuring out what this world really is."

"You were the one who brought it up in the first place!"

Itsuko "What Haruki Suzumiya-san's reaction to all of this will be."

Kyonko "His reaction to our disappearances? I thought about that..."

Itsuko "His reaction to your disappearance in particular."

Kyonko "Shut up."

Itsuko "I can only hope he doesn't try something drastic. We must try to get back to our own universe as soon as possible. Nagato-san, I believe I requested that you look into that..."

Yuuki "All resources spent maintaining key programs. Noninterference would--"

Itsuko "…It would probably be wise to attempt to contact your equivalent on this side too, Nagato-san..."

"I thought of something."

Kyonko "Nagato, is it possible for you to synchronize now?"

"Maybe he was unable to synchronize since his future self was in another universe...?"

Yuuki "All resources spent maintaining--"

Kyonko "Never mind..."

Itsuko "I think that concludes our meeting, then."

"Wait, we really haven't covered anything. And who put you in charge, anyway?"

Itsuko "...I am the Vice Commander of the SOS Brigade, after all."

"Don't remind me."

Itsuko "And we have little more to discuss, as a group. ...I don't think we need to stick together for the rest of the day. We'll meet at 7:00 tonight at... Kouyouen Station, shall we?"

Kyonko "Why there?"

Itsuko "It's more convenient. Now, you and I need to have a little talk, so..."

"Itsuko pulls my arm in an attempt to get me away from Nagato and Asahina-senpai."

Mitsuuru "Ah, wait, I'll come too."

Itsuko "You won't be doing that, I'm afraid. You're going to stay here and attempt to contact this future. The more we know the better. Also, it would be helpful if you can get Nagato-san to say something other than..."

Nagato "Noninterference would be appreciated."

Itsuko "That."

"The last I saw of Asahina-senpai, before Itsuko took me protestingly down the stairs, was him flopping onto a carboard box, muttering to himself."

"It's kind of funny... we had these meetings to try to find answers, but I don't think we've really found any at all."

"In fact, we've only raised more questions."

"Mitsuuru Asahina snorted."

"/"She thinks she knows everything, huh?/" "

"Of course, Itsuko Koizumi was perfectly correct about one thing: That the most important thing they should be worrying about was Haruki Suzumiya's current mental state."

"Mitsuuru Asahina never liked it when Itsuko Koizumi was right. It made him feel uncomfortable, considering all the other things she said."

Sealed Realities

"With responses like that, Mitsuuru Asahina could only sigh."

"The prolonged silence from the two adjacent to him gave him plenty of time to reflect on the irony of trying to lighten the mood of a room intentionally kept darkened."

"He had arrived last, having been in what passed for emergency medical care in his future for the past 12 hours, due to his younger self’s removal from the timeline entirely. What passed for doctors had, so far, stabilized the slow, agonizing degeneration of his cells, but it wouldn’t last."

"Mitsuuru Asahina’s number was up, and he knew it."

"He also knew that both the other representatives were women, and so had complimented them both on their looks when he sat down. Despite, of course, being unable to see their faces."

"Now that he thought about it, that was rather ironic too."

"Neither of them had paid his words any heed. Of course, he hadn’t expected a response from a typically unresponsive humanoid interface, but he had at least expected some acknowledgment, or at least a deprecating comment, from the other woman."

"The other woman simply stared at the fluorescent light emanating upwards from the centre of the round table they were all sitting around. Her glasses reflected the light, making it even harder to make out her face."

"Mitsuuru Asahina, however, already knew who she was. Although she was now much too old, she could easily have been an idol in her youth. A pity she decided to be a physicist instead."

"The silence was making Mitsuuru Asahina uncomfortable."

"/"Nice… nice weather today, huh?/" "

"/"Today marks the worst thunderstorm on record."/"

"The humanoid interface had corrected him. It appears any attempt to lighten the mood had no chance of working. Oh well."

"/"*sigh* … I suppose we should actually get down to business, huh?/" "

"/"An excellent suggestion. One that would have not needed to be made had you been businesslike to begin with./" "

"The woman from the Agency had a sharp tongue, contrasting with the sound of her voice, which matched Mitsuuru Asahina’s memory of her beauty."

"/"Come now, Director. I was just trying to, um, break the ice--/" "

"/"Now isn’t the time for foolishness. I had this meeting called because the expansion of Closed Space is increasing at an exponential rate. Faster than ever before./" "

"It appears that Haruki Suzumiya has noticed. It probably is time to get serious, then."

"/"Our agent, my younger self, has vanished from the timeline… so I’d assume your agents have as well, correct?/" "

"/"Contact with the interface placed in close proximity to Haruki Suzumiya has been lost. Before contact was lost, a spatial anomaly was reported, one which had trapped him temporarily in another world./" "

"/"My… my agent, also, is nowhere to be found. I have our people looking, but…/" "

"Mitsuuru Asahina smirked, glad that the Director couldn’t see him. So that’s why she was in such a snappy mood today."

"Kyon-chan must have gone too, huh…? I hope she got that weapon working."

"/"Don’t bother looking. They’re long gone now./" "

"/"But gone where? Where has she… have they gone?/" "

"/"If our friend from the Data Overmind here is correct, then they are in some other universe. How they got there I cannot say, but that would account for them vanishing from the timeline./" "

"/"There is no doubt. The spatial anomaly was recorded and analyzed. The so-called /‘SOS Brigade/’ has left this universe for another./" "

"/"Thank you… I don’t believe I know your name?/" "

"/"Names are meaningless to us./" "

"/"…I see. So, I guess we’re supposed to figure out a way in which we can collaborate in order to get them back?/" "

"/"…Yes, since Suzumiya-kun won’t stop producing Closed Space otherwise, I’m told. And when more Closed Space exists than reality…/" "

"/"Suzumiya-san destroys and/or remakes the world, right."/"

"A long time ago, Mitsuuru Asahina would have protested that assertion. Now he knew better."

"/"Well, we don’t want that to happen. So, any ideas?/" "

"/"Well, hmm, ideas. It could simply be Suzumiya-kun’s doing, but then… why would his subconscious react like this to a decision it made?/" "

"/"Incorrect. No data exists to suggest Haruki Suzumiya was behind the spatial distortion./" "

"/"I’m sorry, what makes you so sure of that?/" "

"/"Data was collected that proves the spatial distortion existed, but Haruki Suzumiya was not the center of it./" "

"/"You say that like it was someone else at the center of the spatial distortion./" "

"/"Yes. A girl who was, up until this event, considered the only normal human being in Haruki Suzumiya’s so-called /‘SOS Brigade/’./" "

"/"Wait… you’re not referring to…/" "

"Mitsuuru Asahina began to laugh. So that was it."

"/"…I’ve said it before, but you’re not nearly as serious as you should be./" "

"/"Well, that’d be because I’m already dead, so I’m already at the point where I find things that shouldn’t be funny to be that way. /" "

"/"…Already dead?/" "

"/"Unless we get my younger self back in a matter of… 46 hours… my cells will have degenerated to the point where even his reinsertion in the timeline can’t save me./" "

"/"And you don’t believe we can get them back within that given time frame, do you?/" "

"/"Nope. Think about it. Have any of our three organizations ever come up with something resembling slider technology?/" "

"/"No, but that is precisely why we’re having this meeting. With my scientists and the combined technological efforts of both your organization and that of the Overmind, it should be possible./" "

"/"Really now. Are you perfectly sure you don’t just want access to highly advanced technology? Besides, I couldn’t give it to you anyway. It’s classified./" "

"/"The Data Overmind also sees no reason as of yet to share its knowledge with humans./" "

"/"…! I only wish to save our world from being destroyed! Isn’t that enough of a reason to drop time /‘classified/’ status on your technology? Isn’t that enough reason to trust us?/" "

"Silence."

"/"You only want to save your daughter./" "

"The noise of someone standing up suddenly, and a chair falling backwards onto the floor"

"That’s also when Mitsuuru Asahina’s medical treatment wears off and he begins to have what passes for a seizure."

"And that’s also when a door behind the Director burst open, letting in light and blinding the three inside of the room."

"Mitsuuru Asahina fell off his chair."

"/"Wh—What are you doing, orderly? I said that we were not to be disturbed during this meeting./" "

"No one in the room could see the orderly’s facial expression, much as they had been unable to see each other’s. If they could see his face, however, they would know he was terrified."

Narrow Escape

"Am I crazy…?"

"It’s now lunchtime, and I don’t feel crazy."

"After our meeting, Itsuko had dragged me to a corner of the building and started demanding to know what was wrong with me."

Itsuko "The other day, you kept passing out whenever we went and came back to the other side. You, personally, used the term /"rippling over/", and you also said that you thought you were going insane. And now you say you have no memory of any of this."

Kyonko "No, none whatsoever. This is like the fifth time we’ve been through this. Are you trying to convince me I’m nuts?!"

Itsuko "I am merely concerned for your mental well-being. Is that so wrong?"

"…Well no, no it isn’t."

Kyonko "Look… to be honest, everything from the past few days is really fuzzy for some reason. So I really don’t know if I said those thing or not, but I certainly don’t remember them."

Itsuko "Wait a moment. /"For some reason?/" You’re hiding something."

Kyonko "…Fine. I woke up in this universe with absolutely no memories of who I was at first. …I had to think really hard before I even remembered my name… Honestly, it felt as though I had just been born, as though I was waking up for the first time."

Itsuko "…"

Kyonko "…Yeah, I know. Pretty concerning, isn’t it?"

Itsuko "So you’re alright now?"

Kyonko "Yeah, I’m good."

"I’m not mentioning the markings on my arms until I have to, though."

Itsuko "…I see."

"The rest of the day until lunchtime was spent awkwardly, with Itsuko clearly trying to avoid bringing up the subject further. She even bought me that cheap coffee from back when she first revealed her true identity to me."

"So, where was I… right, lunchtime."

"Since neither Itsuko nor I had packed a lunch, both of us were extremely hungry… so, we decided to eat at the cafeteria."

"This turned out to be a bad idea."

Kyonko "…I don’t see why Haruki eats here every day. The menu is… terrible."

Itsuko "Perhaps he’d simply rather pay money for food than make it himself?"

Kyonko "He does seem to have rather the disposable income, given the stuff he buys… Even after half a year, I’m still trying to figure out where he got that bunny suit from."

"At this moment, someone grabs tight hold of my upper arm. The markings burn."

Energetic Girl "You! You’re the one who was with the mutant yesterday!"

Kyonko "Oh no…"

"A girl with fiery eyes had me by the arm, and would, of course, start questioning me incessantly within a minute."

"Am I cursed? Am I doomed to be a Slave of Suzumiya forever?"

"People are beginning to stare… so much for not attracting attention. I certainly hope those two idiots from the other day don’t show up again."

"…"

"Okay, they’re not around, thank god."

Energetic Girl "Hey! Answer me! Where is that mutant hiding? How did he destroy the library? Who was chasing him? Are you his girlfriend or something?"

Kyonko "I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m Kentaro, a transfer student from Canada, I’ve never heard of any mutant, please leave me alone…"

"Please help me god. I don’t want to be involved with this person, I know her kind. She’ll probably pick me up and carry me off to some corner of the school, induct me into her club, and force me into fetishy outfits. I don’t want to be a maid!"

Energetic Girl "Canada, eh? That’s a suspicious place. You’re suspicious. And transferring at this time of year? No one transfers at this time of year. That’s even more suspicious."

Pretty Boy "Actually, Suzumiya-san, I think the new term is exactly the time most students transfer in…"

"A new person had joined the conversation. Odd, most people seem to be eager to avoid us. …Of course, when I saw his face and that plastic smile, I realized who he was."

"I looked over at Itsuko. She had an identical plastic smile."

"Their eyes met. Their smiles grew wider."

Pretty Boy "…If I may ask, Suzumiya-san, who are these people?"

Energetic Girl "This girl here—"

"She shook my arm. That hurts, you bitch!"

Energetic Girl "I saw her being carried by that mutant who wrecked half the school yesterday! She’s clearly some sort of rogue agent. …I don’t know who the other girl is."

Pretty Boy "I believe the term being passed around regarding that student was /"monster/", not /"mutant/"…"

Energetic Girl "Feh, that’s boring. /"Mutant/" sounds way cooler!"

Pretty Boy "As you wish, Suzumiya-san… although, I really don’t think this girl or her friend are involved."

Kyonko "He’s right. Please listen to him. I’m not involved at all."

Energetic Girl "See? Suspicious! And I’m positive I saw her yesterday!"

Pretty Boy "Think about it like this, Suzumiya-san. If this girl were indeed a cohort of the mutant, would she be so foolish as to show up in front of you like this? Perhaps that girl stole this one’s appearance or something like that…"

Energetic Girl "Wait, what? You think we have body snatchers!? Quick! We’ve got to find them before they replace the principal, and, through him, take over the entire school!"

"The energetic girl made to head off, when she noticed she was still attached to my arm."

Energetic Girl "Oh, you can go now."

"She ran off, the pretty boy close behind. As he passed me, he make a quick apologetic motion with one hand."

"…Dear god, I think she’s even crazier than Haruki is."

"As the atmosphere in the cafeteria slowly returned to normal, I noticed Itsuko was giggling."

Kyonko "…What’s so funny?"

Itsuko "It’s nothing, nothing… so that was Haruna-chan, eh? I certainly hope you don’t attract her attention again, for your sake… Kentaro-chan."

Kyonko "I’d hope so too… Yamada-chan."

Itsuko "Ah, you remembered."

"I should, I came up with it."

Itsuko "While we’re still on this side, please refer to me as /"Kitsuko Yamada/"."

Kyonko "…What an… interesting name."

Itsuko "Isn’t it?"

"Now that’s suspicious if I ever heard it."

Kyonko "More importantly… have you already met that boy she was with, the other you…?"

Itsuko "My animus…?"

"Stop calling them that."

Itsuko "Why no. Never seen him before in my life."

"And laughing to herself, Itsuko stepped up to the counter and started ordering her lunch."

"Hey, wait... wasn’t I ahead of you?!"
Rules for ellipses are... complicated. Ugh.

When the Cat’s Away

"Once again, it is lunchtime."

"Except for a few strange events, the first week back to school has passed by pretty slowly."

"Actually, can those events even be called /"strange/"? /"Strange/" is relative. If you really get down to it, to other people who don’t know of the existence of aliens, time travelers, and espers, every day of my life would be considered /"strange/".

"I get the feeling I’ve said this before, but it’s honestly something I can’t help thinking about."

"I don’t know who or what the intruders from yesterday are, but I’m sure that Nagato will take care of it in the end like she always does."

"It’s not something I need to concern myself over."

"Haruhi had left the classroom in her usual hurricane of energy, suddenly regained from this morning. Her moods seem especially volatile this week, but since Koizumi hasn’t come to me complaining that I need to do something, I guess that strange dimension hasn’t appeared."

"Huh… I have nothing to do in the clubroom, so I guess I finally get to eat in peace in the classroom."

"Unfortunately!"

"Normally, the minute I pull out my lunchbox, Taniguchi comes over and starts talking at me, Kunikida in tow, but today…"

Kunikida "This is all your fault."

Taniguchi "How is it my fault?!"

"They’re still over on their side of the classroom, arguing about something or other. Kunikida has his head on his desk, so I can’t see his expression, but Taniguchi looks rather… distressed."

Kunikida "You were the one who suggested we troll for girls… maybe we would have met her normally some other day, and she wouldn’t have been scared off…"

Taniguchi: "I didn’t scare her away from the school, man. What kind of girl, especially one who looks like that, transfers out just because she got hit on?"

Kunikida "Then explain why we couldn’t find her in the registry!"

Taniguchi "Well, I’m pretty sure /"Yamada/" is a fake name, but…"

Kyon "…"

---

[IF ItsukoConvo = True THEN]

"Wait, Yamada? As in the Yamada I met this morning?"

"I wonder…"

Kyon "Hey."

Taniguchi "Hey, Kyon. This guy refuses to even eat his delicious homemade lunch, he feels so bad. Speaking of which, if you’re not gonna eat it, then can I…"

Kunikida "No."

Kyon "I overheard the name /"Yamada/"… did you mean the new transfer student?"

"Kunikida immediately sits up."

Kunikida "…Was she a really pretty girl? Brown hair? Sort of… fox looking?"

Kyon "Yeah, that’s who I--"

Kunikida "Thanks, Kyon!"

"The two of them look at each other and nod."

Taniguchi "See, she’s still in the school. Told ya."

Kunikida "Which means we have to go apologize."

Taniguchi "See you, Kyon!"

"The two of them dash out of the room, followed by the stares of our classmates."

"Ah, I see. To other people, even Taniguchi and Kunikida are /"strange/"."

"…Guess I’m eating in the clubroom today."

---

[ELSE]

Kunikida "Whatever, it’s hopeless. We’re never gonna see her again."

Taniguchi "Look, man, just forget about her. Women are only good for one thing anyway."

"Those female students remaining in the classroom shot Taniguchi venomous looks."

Taniguchi "…Huh? Why did it suddenly go silent?"

"I guess I’ll eat in the clubroom today."

---

"Ever since I kept walking in on Asahina-san changing, I’ve made a habit of knocking on the clubroom door before I enter, which is how I knew that Asahina-san herself was currently occupying the room."

Mikuru "Come in!"

"I will at once!"

"Quite uncharacteristically, Asahina-san was reading some light novel by herself. And when I say /"by herself/", I mean with Nagato sitting in her usual chair, taking up the background."

"For a minute there, it [s]actually looked like this actually was the Literature Club."

Kyon "Yo. It’s rare seeing you in here at lunchtime."

Mikuru "Hi, Kyon-kun. My friends were all busy today, so I decided to come here instead…"

Kyon "What a coincidence. I’m in the same situation."

"Since Taniguchi and Kunikida have apparently gone insane."

"Lunchtime passed rather idyllically."

"It was only after I was going to grab one of Nagato’s novels off the shelf and join the burgeoning Literature Club that I remembered that I had promised to solve the /"game/" that had replaced our website."

Mikuru "What’s wrong?"

Kyon "…I’ve gotta play a game. Excuse me."

"And, having fired up the computer and navigated to the former SOS Brigade Website, I am faced once more with Infinity."

"That is, the infinity symbol surrounded by the fifteen other symbols. Some of them look fairly similar to kanji characters, but most of them are completely unfamiliar to me."

"This one, for example, looks almost Arabic… and this other one looks like it could belong to the Aztecs..."

"Ah, that’s interesting. Each subset of eight symbols appears to be the same type of… language as the one I have to click on to reach them. This simplifies things a little bit."

"After clicking around for a while, however, the browser closes… and promptly restarts."

"The error message reads as follows:"

"/"Runtime Error: You have entered an endless recursion of time./" "

"…"

"Is Nagato really okay!?"

"Sigh… Nagato said I had to click on the right symbols, in the right order, to break the loop… If there are fifteen symbols with eight symbols inside each, what are the odds of me even guessing the right order just by random chance…?"

"…I don’t even want to know. It’s obvious I’m not going to get through this just by guessing."

[Note: I’d like to know, though. :heh:]

"I need help."

[DECISION POINT HERE]

1) Ask Asahina-san for help.
2) Ask Nagato for help.
3) Don’t bother anyone.

Advice from a Blooming Rose

"Asahina-san might know what some of these symbols mean… maybe they’re a futuristic language, or several futuristic languages."

Kyon "Asahina-san, could you come over here for a minute?"

Mikuru "What is it?"

"I show her the ‘website’ and explain the basic premise of what I’m doing."

Mikuru "Eh…? I don’t quite get it?"

Kyon "Nor do I, really… I was wondering if you’d seen any symbols like these before."

Mikuru "Um… I think that one means /"celebration/"…"

"She points to one of the Arabic-looking symbols."

"Putting aside how she knows this, thank you for the help, Asahina-san."

Mikuru "It’s no trouble, no trouble. … um, could I try?"

Kyon "Sure, why not?"

"Maybe she’ll hit on incredible luck and guess the right combination randomly."

"Unfortunately, the minute she so much as clicked the mouse, the browser restarted itself."

"/"Runtime Error: You have prematurely entered an endless recursion of time./" "

Kyon "…What did you do, Asahina-san?"

Mikuru "Um, um, I don’t know, um… I think I just clicked the symbol in the middle…"

Kyon "Huh."

"That must reset it. Useful for when I know I’ve screwed up."

"But still, I don’t even know where to begin clicking…"

"Dammit, Nagato. This must be her elaborate revenge against Haruhi for putting us through that endless summer… wait a minute."

"I addressed Asahina-san, who was backing away from the computer as though it was going to eat her."

Kyon "Asahina-san, hold on a minute. What did this symbol mean again? /"Festival?/"

[ED NOTE: As I mentioned when I brought it up before, I can't find a word that translates directly to "celebration," though there is one for "festival."]

Mikuru "/"Celebration/", actually…"

Kyon "Same difference. …Do you remember how many days we were stuck in that endless summer?"

Mikuru "Eh? Um, let’s see… fifteen thousand four hundred and ninety-eight, times, um, fifty-four weeks, times, um…"

Kyon "No, I mean, how many days inside each loop?"

Mikuru "Um… fifteen… I think…"

"And there are fifteen symbols."

"I think I might have found something out. I’ll have to copy these down and go to a library or something, but if I can figure out what each symbol actually means, I might actually be able to solve this puzzle!"

"I’ve already won!"

"And then the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch break."

"…Gah. I’ll have to do this some other time."

"I caught Nagato looking at me, before she closed her book and headed to class. But like usual, she said nothing."

Advice from a Shrinking Violet

"Well, Nagato was the one who created this… maybe she’ll offer a bit of help."

Kyon "Oi, Nagato. This is one confusing game you’ve thought up. You think you could give me a hint?"

Yuki "Cheating."

Kyon "Huh?"

Yuki "That would be cheating."

"Damn."

"She has a point. Guess it really is up to me and my guesswork, then."

Yuki "…The central symbol can also be selected."

Kyon "Really? Ah, thanks, Nagato."

"I click the undulating infinity symbol, and… the browser restarts."

"/"Runtime Error: You have prematurely entered an endless recursion of time./" "

"Huh."

"That must reset it. Useful for when I know I’ve screwed up."

"But still, I don’t even know where to begin clicking…"

"Dammit, Nagato. This must be her elaborate revenge against Haruhi for putting us through that endless summer… wait a minute."

"The loop lasted from August 17th to the 31st, in other words… fifteen days."

"There are fifteen symbols."

"…This one, the one Haruhi clicked on the other day, resembles the kanji character for /"fire/"…"

"Fire… fire… what would that be… the fireworks!"

"Thank you for your hint, Nagato. Without it I’d have gotten nowhere, but now I might actually be able to enact your vengeance for you."

"…What am I saying?"

We Couldn’t Think of an Appropriate Flower Metaphor

"No, I shouldn’t bother anyone. This is up for me to solve."

"Several minutes later, without any new development and several more error messages, I gave up and stopped thinking."

"Eventually, the bell rang."

"Gah. I’ll have to work on this some other time."

"I caught Nagato looking at me, before she closed her book and headed to class. But like usual, she said nothing at all."

Cancelled

Haruhi "Today’s meeting is cancelled."

Kyon "Huh?"

"When I got back from lunch break, Haruhi wasn’t in the classroom. She had come in at the start of the next period, looking rather pissed about something."

"And now it’s after school, and she still doesn’t look much more cheerful."

"The above conversation had begun something like this:"

Kyon "So, what’s up? I’m asking now because you’re probably going to—"

Haruhi "That stupid principal!"

Kyon "--Tell me anyway."

Haruhi "I was checking the teachers to see if they were body snatchers, and the principal just hauls me into his office to yell at me! I thought I was being abducted at first, but no, same boring old principal. I made sure to check him, too…"

"Check…? How, exactly?"

Haruhi "And then he had the nerve to accuse me of destroying the library! Like it was my fault! I was eating in the cafeteria the whole time that was going on. I wish I had been there…"

"To be fair, that is the kind of thing you used to do."

Haruhi "And I was looking forward to the new semester, too…! But it’s like everything I try to do just backfires…"

"That’s because the things you try to do are insane and irrational. If you had us do normal club activities instead of spending after school searching high and low for some mutant or running across town looking under garbage cans, maybe we’d actually accomplish something."

"Haruhi simply glares at me. And this is where you came in."

Haruhi "Today’s meeting is cancelled."

Kyon "Huh?"

Haruhi "Make sure to tell the others."

"She stuffs her books into her bag and stalks out of the classroom."

"…That was sudden." Maybe she’s going through her period or something.

"There’s no way this is my fault, but somehow I can easily imagine a haggard-looking Koizumi showing up at my house Sunday evening demanding that I cheer Haruhi up again or the /"world will be destroyed!/" "

"Still, if things need fixing, I can fix them then. No need to get ahead of myself."

"…"

[DECISION POINT HERE]

1) …I’ll just go inform the others.
2) Follow her.

Notice of Termination, Delivered Post-haste

"Of course, telling the others about Haruhi’s inexplicable mood swings would take too much time, so like usual I just wrote some explanatory note and pasted it to the clubroom door."

"That takes care of that. …Now what should I do?"

Stop Stalking Me!

[see the update coming later tonight I’ll never get to play Cross+Channel I hate you all.]

Stop Stalking Me!

"I grab my bag, and follow Haruhi. I don’t want Koizumi showing up at my house anytime soon, after all. He’d be a bad influence on my sister."

"As I head out of the classroom and round the corner, however…"

Haruhi "What do you think you’re doing?"

"She was waiting for me around the corner. How did she know…?"

Haruhi "The clubroom is the other way."

Kyon "Um. I’m taking the scenic route."

Haruhi "Whatever. Just go tell the others there’s no meeting today."

"And with, that she heads off towards the stairs."

"…"

[DECISION POINT HERE]

1) Keep following her.
2) Right, I’ll go do what I’m told.

"I gave her a few minutes, then continued to trace her footsteps."

"However, at the top of the stairs/:"

Haruhi "…Why are you following me?"

Kyon "I’m not. We just happen to be going in the same direction."

"Haruhi’s eye twitches. I don’t think this is working."

"Without a word, she turns her back to me and heads down the staircase."

"…"

[DECISION POINT HERE]

1) Keep following her.
2) I guess I should go tell the others, then.

"And, at the bottom of the stairs…"

Haruhi "Okay, this is… you’re stupid, Kyon. Can’t you see I want to be left alone?"

"She managed to see me from my position behind the fire extinguisher. Not that I expected that to work, though."

"Haruhi, looking more frustrated than ever, stalks off angrily towards the shoe lockers."

"This isn’t going very well… I think a haggard Koizumi will be showing up at my front door no matter what I do right now."

"…"

[DECISION POINT HERE]

1) Keep following her.
2) Should probably tell the others, and tell my mother to prepare for guests on Sunday.

"And so, at the shoe lockers…"

Haruhi "Arrrgh! Seriously, stop [I]stalking me!"

"I merely took my shoes out, ignoring her angry words."

"Haruhi, fuming, heads off towards the school entrance."

"There’s only one thing I can do now."

[DECISION POINT HERE]

1) Keep following her.
2) Brace for impact! Also, go tell the others there’s no meeting today.

"Finally, at the school entrance, we have Haruhi, looking as though she’s about to choke me."

Haruhi "Do you know how aggravating it is when a subordinate doesn’t follow orders? It’s really aggravating! Subordinates aren’t allowed to take initiative! Exactly what are you trying to do?"

Kyon "Well, I—"

Haruhi "Whatever you’re going to say is stupid, so I won’t be listening to it, anyway. See you on Monday, Kyon."

"…"

[DECISION POINT HERE]

1) Yeah, see you then.
2) …I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to walk home together.

Responsibility Zero

Kyon "Yeah, see you then."

Haruhi "Hmmph."

"Even though we go the same way home, I’m not about to continue to follow her after all that. I guess I’ll go tell everyone about the meeting being canceled, and then head home after I’m sure she’s long gone."

"…I feel a slight pang of guilt, but I suppress it. She was angry to begin with, and since when is it my job to keep Haruhi happy?"

"…Don’t answer that."

My Desperate Gamble

"Ah, crap. If I don’t do something quick, we’re going to be in trouble."

"Here goes my one last, desperate gamble!"

Kyon "Wait! I only wanted to ask if you wanted to walk home together!"

"Haruhi spins around."

Haruhi "Wh--!"

Kyon "I, uh, figured since there wasn’t a meeting today, and that since we go the same way for quite a bit…"

Haruhi "…"

"She seemed to deliberate on it for a few moments, and then…"

Haruhi "Fine. Let’s hurry, then. I have stuff to do at home."

"…It worked. I can’t believe it."

Haruhi "…Idiot."

"Yes, it is true. I am an idiot."

Goooooooood morning, ch--

Wait. Can't come in without music. Music affects mood. Need music. Where's my music?

The audio guy's dead? I slaughtered him last week? Oh, that'd explain it.

Well, hire a new one then! On the double!

...

...

...

...Waiting is hard.

...

...

...Ah. Here's my music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FlMue9BHp4). Finally. Almost thought they'd lost it. Nyahaha.

*ahem* Gooooooooooodmorning, chumps!!

What? You had expected something relevant and with content for post number 20000? Nyaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha!

Poor fools. You still have expectations.

I'll remove them for you. Removing is really, really fun! Like removing people. And by removing I mean killing them.

Subtlety is for suckers.

Speaking of not being subtle, everyone enjoy my costume? I'M COSPLAYING! *cackle, cackle*

I even put on my favorite face for you. Doesn't it look indecent? And by indecent, I mean slutty.

Eh? What's that? What's that? Speak up, I can't hear you. Oh, that's right.

That's because I cut your lips off.

Nyaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha!

Oh, you expected something related to all those idiots for this post? You expected that? Shouldn't you know by now that expectations are bad? Never expect anything. You'll never be rewarded.

Besides, you'd! Rather! See! Those! Transsexuals! Than! Me!?

I'M INSULTED. (Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, you know.)

DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE oh looks like I've mashed your brains out already.

I'm so sorry. And by sorry, I mean extremely glad.

Nyaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha!

This is getting boring. Boring boring bored is boring bored boring.

BOOOOOOORED

Yeah, whatever, I'm done. Time to go drink myself to sleep. And by sleep I mean murder all your friends and family.

Sound fun, right?

Right?

Right?
