So , Let's pray they keep the same Seiyu from the Drama CD.
Or at least keep Takana Rie for Tsukiumi ^^
Shouldn't the genre also read, "bewbies"? Thought I should make that observation at least. Will be looking forward to it.

Somehow deep in my heart, I just knew this is bound to happen sooner or later....... Glad seeing this gets animated.
Now I wonder how the hell they are going to animate all those......bewbs. Seeing this show is basically all big boobies festival at its max.. Minus the loli and "traps" D:
Started reading the manga and I'm in for the show. Boobs and all.
Tsukiumi > all, I really hope Tanaka Rie (her drama cd voice) stays as her voice.

Tsukiumi in the Sekirei drama CD reminds me of Suigintou in Rozen Maiden, Tomoe Marguerite in My-Otome, and Isabella in Soukou no Strain. In addition to all of them being voiced by Tanaka Rie, they all intensely dislike the main heroine in the story - Suigintou hates Shinku, Tomoe hates Arika, Isabella hates Sara, and Tsukiumi (sorta) hates Musubi.
While Suigintou and Tomoe suppress their anger most of the time, Tsukiumi has an extremely short temper and often explodes in fits of rage, yelling and screaming in the unique trademark fashion of Tanaka Rie.
Unlike the evil, crazy, psychopathic villain Tomoe, or the sad, pitiful, one-time villain Suigintou, or the mean, nasty, spiteful bitch Isabella, however, the seemingly always angry Tsukiumi acts tough, but (as someone else elsewhere has noted) is really just an innocent girl wanting to be loved.
Last edited by Siegel Clyne : 2007-10-06 at 03:28. Reason: Added Asama Miya's appellation, "Ooya" ("Landlady"). While others refer to Miya as "Ooya-san," Tsukiumi, who speaks in an archaic manner, calls her "Ooya-dono."
According to an entry (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/moonphase/20071220) on MOON PHASE Miscellaneous Notes (MOON PHASE Zakki), Wednesday, December 20, 2007, Japan Time, the next series from YOUNG GANGAN (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Young+Gangan) seinen manga magazine, published by SQUARE ENIX, to be animated after Bamboo Blade appears to be a title with the "name of a bird" ("tori no namae").
The YOUNG GANGAN manga series with a "bird's name" is Sekirei.
"Sekirei" means wagtail in Japanese. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Japanese+wagtail+sekirei)
I think that, in all probability, the Sekirei anime cast will be more or less the same as the Sekirei drama CD cast listed above in my earlier post, with additional seiyuu for additional characters in the anime.
Ayako Kawasumi's voice fits the naive Musubi. Sayaka Ohara's fits the oneesama Miya Asama. Rie Tanaka's voice fits the tsundere Tsukiumi.
Rie Tanaka's short tempered Tsukiumi sounds like Suigintou and Tomoe Marguerite in constant angry road rage mode (minus the evil and the villainy). That alone should attract the many devoted, if not fanatical, Suigintou fanboys in Japan.
Because she and her voice have become so closely associated with Suigintou, a character she has made famous and popular, anime fans inside of Japan - and, for that matter, outside of Japan - often refer to Rie Tanaka as Suigintou or as Gin-sama, Suigintou's nickname.
Even though a new Rozen Maiden anime has not aired on Japanese television in well over a year and a third series or a third season of the popular Rozen Maiden television anime series has yet to be announced, as I have documented elsewhere on the Internet, Suigintou remains popular.
Radio personality Suigintou hosts a highly successful hit internet radio show in Japanese, Suigintou no Koyoi mo Ennu~i (Suigintou's It's Ennui Again, Tonight). The Suigintou no Koyoi mo Ennu~i Web Radio Vol. 4 CD (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=LHCA-5086), starring Rie Tanaka as Suigintou, goes on sale April 23, 2008 in Japan.
However...
Aniplex reportedly got the domain,
http://www.sekirei-tv.com/
Frontier Works produces the Sekirei drama CD.
Googling Aniplex and Frontier Works together (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Aniplex+Frontier+Works), as far as I can tell, shows no connection between these two companies on any anime.
Because of that lack of connection, some Japanese fans believe that there will be wholesale changes in the cast from the Sekirei drama CD to the Sekirei anime.
On the other hand, Googling Aniplex and Seven Arcs (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha series; Inukami! TV series and movie) together (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=Aniplex+Seven+Arcs), as far as I can tell, shows no connection between these two companies on any anime prior to Sekirei.
In addition, YOUNG GANGAN official website's introduction page (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/magazine/yg/introduction/sekirei/) for the Sekirei manga lists the Sekirei television animation announcement next to and just above the Sekirei drama CD cast list.
So hope remains for the Sekirei drama CD cast being at least partly retained for the Sekirei anime.
We will see.
In any case, the Sekirei anime should do well in Japan with the fighting girls and the T & A a la Ikkitousen.
And, true to her background of creating BL/yaoi manga and doujin, Sakurako Gokurakuin's Sekirei also features the ultimate trap, a Sekirei who suffers from gender identity confusion and is either a male changing sex to female, a futanari (hermaphrodite), or whatever else you can think of.

Kuu-chan's va is that of nanoha..........
You're right.
That could be a sign that Seven Arcs might retain at least part of the cast from the Sekirei drama CD for the Sekirei anime.

This works as manga, because you are forgiving. And the fanservice and cute chars come at you at a rapid pace. Anime tend to drag shit out. You have to rely on the fights and plot(which this lacks o_O). Good comedy and good animation might save this though. =o

*kneels down an prays* please do not let them butcher this anime like they have done to other manga adaptations
Seven Arcs should do a decent job with the fights, Nanoha A's had some nicely animated intense fight scenes in the first half. Also as shown with the Nanoha series any glaring animation errors should get fixed for the dvd release.

I just checked the anime website link up there... it seems like they've already uploaded the images.
But something bothers me. I might just be me being Captain Obvious but the art merely looks like colored manga pages. Or maybe it's just placeholder art until the actual anime trailer comes out...
*prays for good art and better ecchi for the anime*

Why if a show has boobs is it crap?
Why if a show has lolis is it good?
I prefer expecting and judging later.
Sometimes there are good shows with "boobs" and bad shows with "lolis".
Kenichi, for example, good show.
Prism Ark, for example, bad show.
Who is Yukari's seiyuu? I wonder.
Tsukiumi is the best, no argument here. But Yukari is my second favourite. I wanta see her in action. The *DEVIL* is far more better than her soft brother.

A cause of concern, besides Nanoha A's, is there any series for me to check the quality of this 7 arc studio work?
But whatever it is, hopefully, really hopeful for Clare(Claymore), Nanoha (StrikerS), Tsuruya(SHaruhi) and the godly Suigintou (RozenMaiden) to be kept .. :D

according to ANN , they did Inukami! which i found to be quite awesome.
Does anyone knows which character is Minato's VA famous for?
Looking at his profile on ANN he really hasn't done many main roles, his biggest role to date is probably Sana Hidaka the main character from Myself;Yourself.
I don't think there will be any problems with Seven Arcs producing Sekirei, as they did a great job animating Inukami!
They are an obvious choice considering the art will have to match the tone of the story - which is basically a comedic and panty flash story, which they've already done before.
The only thing I'm worried about is them getting the pace of the story right, I wan't enough happening in an episode to keep it interesting and to move it along but I don't want them to rush through it so you get multiple major events happening in the same episode.
As for the Sekirei manga, my favourite Sekirei has to be number 9 Tsukiumi because of her tsundere personality, her hawtness and she is pretty cool as well.
EDIT: I just had a listen to the voice actor of Minato (Shinnosuke Tachibana) and he's good: his voice is masculine and he isn't whiny like most harem leads.

According to this post (p2.chbox.jp/read.php?url=http://anime3.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/anime3/1205335913/667) at 2ch, a preview of the Sekirei anime will be screened at the Aniplex booth in the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008 (http://www.tokyoanime.jp/en/), held at the Tokyo Big Sight from Thursday, March 27, 2008 to Sunday, March 30, 2008.
The Sekirei anime cast supposedly will be revealed by then.

Some Japanese fans think that Kawasumi Ayako is not voicing Musubi in the Sekirei anime. They say that is not her voice in the trailer. According to a Japanese poster at 2ch, the Tokyo International Anime Fair staff said that the voice actress for Musubi in the Sekirei anime is a 19-year-old seiyuu newcomer from I'm Enterprise.
If the Sekirei anime cast had been announced, would they not have announced the name of the voice actress for Musubi, too?
EDIT #1
Back in 2006, I added the names of Fukuyama Jun as Lelouch, Yukana as C.C., and Sakurai Takahiro as Suzaku on the entry for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6704) in the Anime News Network Encyclopedia.
I remembered a Japanese fan who did a report at 2ch on a Code Geass trailer he saw back then. He had mistakenly identified Tanaka Rie as the voice for C.C., an error he included in his report. He later corrected the error after he learned the official cast credits.
As of the date and the time of this post, it appears that the Sekirei anime cast has not been officially announced yet.
EDIT #2
Some Japanese fans think that Hayami Saori may voice Musubi. Hayami is a 16-year-old seiyuu from I'm Enterprise, perhaps best known for voicing Kawakabe Momoka in Touka Gettan.
If true, the "19-year-old seiyuu newcomer from I'm Enterprise" is probably a mistake in the age.
EDIT #3
A Japanese fan thinks Musubi's voice sounds similar to Himawari's. Himawari is presumably Hinata Himawari, voiced by Matsumoto Kana, in the Himawari! anime.
More than one Japanese fan do not recognize the voice actress doing Musubi's voice in the Sekirei anime trailer. At least one wonders if she is a rookie seiyuu.
If that information is correct I'm very happy to see that Tanaka Rie is playing my fav character Tsukiumi, at the same time I'm disappointed that Kawasumi Ayako is not voicing Musubi. Oh well keep us updated Sigel!

If she's in this show, that is even more exciting to me than Kawasumi Ayako would have been. She's 16, works for I"m Enterprise, is now playing Kou in Wagaya No Oinari-sama, and I think she is so good that she could be the future Kawasumi Ayako. She is already among the very best seiyuu/singers, and may end up being a singer rather than a seiyuu. In fact, for me, she is the best seiyuu/singer already.
I'm very happy at how well the manga's art style has transitioned to the screen. It looks great still and animated.
As for the excellent animation quality, we'll see in a few subsequent episodes. :D

Sekirei TV Anime Cast
Character : Voice Actor (Seiyuu)
Sahashi Minato : Tachibana Shinnosuke
Musubi : Hayami Saori
Tsukiumi : Inoue Marina
Kusano : Hanazawa Kana
Matsu : Endou Aya
Not surprising to many, Sony's Aniplex, Seven Arcs, sound director Aketagawa Jin (who has employed Kawasumi Ayako in a lot of anime in the past), et al. went young and changed all the seiyuu in the Sekirei TV anime main cast from Frontier Works's Sekirei drama CD cast, except for the main character, Sahashi Minato. Tachibana Shinnosuke voices Minato in the anime, just as he did on the drama CD.
Inoue Marina was a Sony artist / seiyuu-singer, selected in an audition for the voice acting role of Cossette d'Auvergne in Le Portrait de Petite Cossette a few years ago. Her seemingly still close ties with Sony led some Japanese posters at 2ch weeks ago to speculate that she had the inside track and would get cast as Tsukiumi in the Sekirei TV anime. (http://p2.chbox.jp/read.php?url=http://anime3.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/anime3/1200665777/441n-560n)
Apparently, they were right.

The Sekirei radio show started today, and is online here (http://www.sekirei-tv.com/radio/index.html). The seiyuu are Hanazawa Kana and Hayami Saori.
It has also been announced, according to 2channel, that the OP will be sung by Hayami Saori, Hanazawa Kana, Inoue Marina, and Endou Aya. And the ED will be sung by Hayamin alone.
The full cast and staff are now listed on the official site (http://www.sekirei-tv.com/staff/index.html). The cast is:
Sahashi Minato -- Tachibana Shinnosuke (Sana in Myself;Yourself)
Musubi -- Hayami Saori (Kou in Wagaya no Oinari-sama)
Tsukiumi -- Inoue Marina (Kana in Minami-ke)
Kusano -- Hanazawa Kana (Sora in Sketchbook)
Matsu -- Endou Aya (Sheryl in Macross Frontier)
Asama Miya -- Ohara Sayaka (Millie in Code Geass, Alicia in ARIA)
Homura/Kagari -- Kaida Yuki (Shuusuke in Prince of Tennis)
Seo -- Konishi Katsuyuki (Ozma in Macross F)
Hikari -- Kaida Yuuko (Amane in Strawberry panic)
Hibiki -- Neya Michiko (Riza Hawkeye in FMP)
Uzume -- Nabatame Hitomi (Nobue Oneesan in Ichigo Mashimaro)
Sahashi Yurika -- Asumi Kana (Yuno in Hidamari Sketch)
Shiina -- Ishizuka Sayori (Sango in ToHeat2)
Akitsu -- Kobayashi Yuu (Setsuna in Negima)
Mitsuha -- Yahagi Sayuri (Karin in Karin, Haruna in ToLoveRu)
Kagari is one of two roles played by Kaida Yuki. They have brought in wonderful young up-and-coming stars Hayami Saori, Inoue Marina, Hanazawa Kana, and Endou Aya for roles played on the drama CD by more expensive established stars Kawasumi Ayako, Tanaka Rie, Tamura Yukari, and Matsuoka Yuki. The changes may have involved considerations of cost and of who was with what agency or recording group, but the newcomers are great, too, so I'm not complaining at all.
In fact, Hayami Saori, Hanazawa Kana, and Yahagi Sayuri are three of my absolute favorite seiyuu, so I'm actually thrilled. Hayamin is already outstanding at 16. She's the future Kawasumi Ayako, I think, as well as being one of the top seiyuu singers already. In fact, I think she's the best, and a post on 2channel put her in the top five. Kana is in the running for most moe voice in anime. And oHagi has the most liquid, rich, mobile voice I know.
Director -- Kusakawa Keizo (Inukami, Nanoha A's, Nanoha Strikers).
Lead writer -- Yoshioka Takao (DearS [!], Elfen Lied, and the underrated Sky Girls).
Character designer -- Tomooka Shinpei (Inukami).
Music -- Sano Hiroaki (all three Nanoha shows).
By the way, there's a hilarious little video of a toothless seven-year-old Hanazawa Kana on a Japanese TV show on j1m0ne's blog (http://atemonai.com/blog/video-of-the-day-a-young-toothless-hanazawa-kana/).
does anyone know any prominent role for Ohara Sayaka 's Miya?

According to the official website (http://www.sekirei-tv.com), the Sekirei TV anime series is scheduled to start airing July 2008 on a couple of UHF TV stations in the Kantou region of Japan, Chiba TV and TOKYO MX.
:D
July is gonna be a great month.. Not to mention June too.. AAnd soon Shiina Dark starting as well XD
Lots o blood are gonna be lost
Pretty happy with that Cast list... yay for Uzume being played by Nabatame Hitomi (Kan-u, Kanade from Candy Boy and I'm expectng big things from her as Ryōko Yakushiji in the upcoming Ryoko's Case File) by the way how manly can Kaida Yuki sound? Compared to say.. Romi Paku.
does anyone know any prominent role for Ohara Sayaka 's Miya?
She's done plenty of work with some awesome roles as well.
XXXHOLiC (TV) as Yuuko Ichihara
Aria the Natural (TV) as Alicia Florence
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) as Milly Ashford (I don't think this is an awesome role, just listed it because it's well known)
Tales of Agriculture (TV) as Haruka Hasegawa

Wow, Inoue Marina and Nabatame Hitomi, two of my favorite contemporary seiyuu. A dream come true. *_*

Hmmm. I think it's due to the way your post is worded but it makes me wonder if there were fans who threw negative criticism at such business tactics. The world of behind-the-doors seiyuu politics is unknown to me. I'm just being curious. What was the reaction to this?
But on another note, the official cast line up doesn't sound bad at all.

Actually for me, Hanazawa and Inoue are my favourite voices from basically my favourite mecha show so far of this century, Zegapain. Ryoko and Minato sounded absolutely wonderful in that show. Add on Kou from this season's Oinara-sama, and I'm really stoked about this particular show just on the cast alone.

Since it seems to have been based on fan speculation rather than insider information, apparently not that much.
But who knows?
When a US anime company licenses an anime title for distribution in North America, as a rule, a restricted pool of English dub voice actors will be used to dub anime in English.
FUNimation and ADV, both located in Texas, generally use their own in-house VAs, or VAs associated with them, to dub their anime in English. (Because its VA pool is shallow, FUNimation often uses VAs with ADV ties as well.)
Southern California based Bandai Entertainment frequently uses US based Bang Zoom! and Canadian based The Ocean Group to dub its anime titles in English. Therefore, American and Canadian VAs associated with these two English dubbing companies frequently appear in Bandai Entertainment anime titles.
While it is expected that, depending on the title, US anime companies use and push certain voice actors and not certain other voice actors to dub their anime in English, directly and indirectly, Japanese companies which produce and create the anime are not all that different. Casting Japanese seiyuu in anime is not as open as one might think.
If a director of a given anime title likes certain seiyuu very much, of course, that director likely will cast those seiyuu. Matsuo Kou, for example, seems to like to use Sawashiro Miyuki in anime he directs (Rozen Maiden, RED GARDEN, Kure-nai).
Japanese fans at 2ch frequently talk about the considerable clout that major seiyuu talent agencies, such as Arts Vision / I'm Enterprise, Aoni, 81 Produce, Sigma 7 and Osawa, carry in the anime industry in Japan. A seiyuu represented by one of the big talent agencies is said to have significantly more chance of getting cast than if he or she were represented by a small talent agency.
Osawa Office (e.g., Noto Mamiko, Kawasumi Ayako, Hanazawa Kana), for example, is reputed for not only getting its voice actors a lot work in anime, games and such, but also landing them considerable work doing narration and commercial voice overs. Dentsu and Hakuhodo, two of Japan's biggest advertising agencies which also happen to sponsor and produce a lot of anime in Japan, are said to be heavily invested in Osawa.
It is no wonder, then, why top seiyuu at Osawa land a lot of roles in anime and do a lot of commercial voice overs. They have a lot of ad money bankrolling their careers.
Japanese companies which produce anime naturally like to use and promote their own seiyuu, if they have them, in their anime productions.
The Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru (Otoboku) anime produced by Starchild, however, stirred up a lot of controversy a couple or so years ago over the apparently blatant practice of casting seiyuu tied in with companies producing, sponsoring and bankrolling its production, whether they were (the most) qualified or not.
The writer/creator of the original Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru ero-game bitterly complained on his/her blog (Japanese fans couldn't figure out from the name if it was a man or a woman) about the casting for the anime. He/she soon deleted that entry from the blog, but screencaps had already been taken and disseminated on the Net.
The original creator, I seem to recall, wanted the anime to retain the seiyuu from the eroge. While casts frequently change in eroge to non-eroge anime adaptations, the original creator also complained that all five members of the then Starchild seiyuu singing group Aice5 got cast in the Otoboku anime - including one who, according to the original creator, couldn't act her way out of a paper bag.
Seiyuu associated with Lantis and RAMS got cast in the Otoboku anime as well. The original creator further complained, if I recall correctly, that a couple of the seiyuu didn't even audition for the roles...
Because it came from an insider with intimate knowledge about the business and not based on speculations by outsiders, the Otoboku anime casting controversy confirmed what many had long suspected about the industry, and opened the eyes of many others who may have been naive about the whole situation.
Connections do matter.
It's part of the business.
Hmm just noticed that Kazehana and Karasuba haven't been casted yet... wonder who will voice them!
There a chance Kazehana not showing up at all since all they promoting the first 4 sekire only, the same can be said to Karasuba.
@KiNA: Ill donate some blood to you, come July :D
Between Ikkitousen in June, Sekirei in July and Shiina Dark down the lane, its pretty hectic schedule to keep our blood at sufficient level :D
There a chance Kazehana not showing up at all since all they promoting the first 4 sekire only, the same can be said to Karasuba.
Maybe there saving that piece of news. And it won't be the same without all of them there.
I really can't see them doing this without Karasuba, even though she's only in the manga a bit she will play a big part of the story soon and if this went with an anime original ending she has to be a key factor of whatever they come up with.

There's a cast interview (http://www.presepe.jp/m44/show/id/5EX8d9hq8hs%3D) up now on a Japanese site. Here's the cast photo:

I'm not sure of all the people, but I believe the front row is: Endou Aya, Hayami Saori, Tachibana Shinnosuke, Inoue Marina, Hanazawa Kana, and the leftmost person in row 2 is definitely Yahagi Sayuri.
I haven't read the whole interview, but Hayamin describes Musubi as cheerful, naive, and romantic, and says she admires the strength of her spirit and her ability to fight, and sees her as a being whom a smiling face suits.

The current episode of the radio show (http://www.sekirei-tv.com/radio/index.html) stars Hayami Saori and Endou Aya. Two seiyuu rockets, right now, with Aya playing Sheryl in Macross F and Angelique in Neo-Angelique.
They spend some time talking about Hayamin turning 17. Hayamin seems amazingly relaxed and capable in this situation, for her age and experience.
Someone posting on 2channel said that she was the voice for announcements at her school and that although most people liked her voice, some people criticized it and tried to get her taken off. Fools, lol.
2channel has been deciding what nickname to give her: Saorin, Hayamin, or what. She says on the show that people call her Saorin or Saori-chan, but that Hayamin sounds good. Aya says that she doesn't really have a nickname, and Hayamin says she'd like to call her "Aya-sama." They end up calling each other Aya-san and Saori-san.

Probably...I actually thought it was Shiina first time I watched it due to lack of chest.
Edit: Also looking at wiki atm, I know not all the seiyuu cast has been listed but Hiroto (the MBI chairman and slightly nuts) is voiced by Seki Toshihiko in the CD drama, Im hoping they keep him!
Judging from that trailer, no Kazehana apparently. But the animation looks really slick, and the designs are faithful to the manga. And Tsukiumi is

@Deathkillz:
You gave in too, huh? :heh: Well, as soon as Tsukiumi made her appearance in the manga, deep down I knew why I had to keep on reading. Damn my weakness!
I just finished watching the trailer, and I'm actually pleasantly surprised at Musubi's voice. Not what I imagined at all—which is a good thing—because I used to imagine her having this high-pitched, screechy moeblob-ish voice. Thank god that it isn't so! While she sounds somewhat mechanical, her voice still comes across as pretty in a normal manner. Not bad at all.
And well, Homura's voice turned out to be actually more feminine than I expected it to be. Gee, no wonder.... :p
On another note, it seems (judging from the trailer) that the anime will have decent action scenes as well. I mean, we all know what the main appeal of the anime is, but hey... at least it's making an effort as a whole.
The trailer needs more Tsukiumi though. :heh:

What a wonderful voice. I have no idea what it should sound like from the manga, but this is such a fresh, lively, pretty kind of normal voice. I can recognize it as Hayamin, but it has a tone that I haven't heard from her before.
For anyone who doesn't know Hayami Saori yet, she is Kou in Wagaya no Oinarisama, was Momoka in Touka Gettan, and just turned 17. And she sings even better than she voice-acts.
She was the resident typical innocent, klutzy, girl next door type, main character in Sekirei. So, that why it came a bit of surprise to hear a voice like that. But after hearing them clearly, I feel its really fits her..
Now Tsukiumi's voice OTOH.. need more normal type voice to sampled with, because right now, her battle voice are quite deep for her IMHO. And her Tsundere antics are second to none in this series.
Yeah defiantly need to hear more from Tsukiumi, btw anyone know who's voicing the Black Sekirei?

For example, I contributed Fukuyama Jun as Lelouch Lamperouge, Sakurai Takahiro as Kururugi Suzaku, and Yukana as C.C. in the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6704) entry on the Anime News Network Encylopedia back in 2006.
I also contributed names for much of the Japanese staff and a number of Japanese companies in the Sekirei (TV) (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=9561) entry there last month.
You think there is a possibbility that this might make it to one of the popular animes and get a thread of its own?
This is a thread on its own.. If you think it'll get a subforum on its own.. I dont think so >_<

Kazehana confirmed? Oh god yes :bow::bow:
I'm about ready to declare this the best new show of summer '08, unless they somehow manage to screw it up (and at this rate, I don't see how).
Oh hoo.. that good news indeed..
From the look of thing we can hope it garner enough interest for continual seasons too :p
And wow.. Thats actually Shiina and not Kuuno @.@
Now that she's here, I'm watching this 9001%.:hyper-^v^:

Kazehana confirmed? Oh god yes....And that magazine page says that Kazehana will be voiced by Yukana (CC in Code Geass, Kuu in Wagaya no Oinarisma). I don't know the original, but from the illustration, her voice will be perfect.
All looks good. Looking forward to watching this.

Holy crap, now I'm looking forward to this even more. :heh:
(I'm still sad about Tanaka Rie not voicing Tsukiumi though. Oh, the things that could have been...)
Yukana is perfect for Kazehana, now we just need to find out who's voicing the Black Sekirei. Has the episode count been set for this?
Sultry CC's voice?
Count me in. Looks forward for the welcome home greeting scene :naughty:

This is the first time that I've read a manga before the anime version came out. Well, I read the first few chapters and then I discontinued it. Now I know some of the excitement and anticipation people get when they hear they hear it's being animated. FYI, all I care about his fanservice. ;P

Gah no matter how many times I watch trailer 2....Kagari still sounds weird. Oh but light blue font...hard to read, strain on eyes (just letting you know!)
What competition?.. There are only 1 winner.. 1 outcome :D
Minato wins all :D
According to wiki Karasuba aka The Black Sekirei is voiced by Romi Paku, if true an awesome choice indeed. Thanks for the subbed promos btw and I can't wait for episode 1, not long to go now.
Oh yeah according to ANN op/ed are

Ending Theme:

Yes, that sounds like Paku Romi in trailer 2. Very opportune, considering that I just switched my avatar to her for this coming season. I also did a blog post about her (http://hashihime.blogspot.com/2008/06/paku-romi-power-packed.html). Her performance in NANA is in competition for best seiyuu performance I've ever seen/heard. Her big role this season is as a genetically altered female warrior in Ultraviolet: Code 044. And she continues as the little brother in Itazura na Kiss.

Reading through this thread makes me feel like Sekirei sub-forum is coming soon.
Well I don't see anything else this season that has more of a chance in getting a forum. We also have a near 400 posts manga thread as well. Fanart should explode and the image thread sould be tight. It's either going to get a sub forum or end up as one of the longest threads in the fansubbed section, especially if it runs for two cours.
Chances are we filled the thread with usefull discussion, then we can start thinking of a subforum. I think the mods are more choosy for a subforum to not repeat the Pumpkin Scissor failure.

A Sekirei sub-forum? Well, if there's going to be one, you can count on Tsukiumi having her own thread at least. :heh:
By the way, I have to say that I prefer the color of her hair in the manga more. In the manga, the color is more of a light, sandy blond shade whereas the anime portrays her having yellowish, sunny blond hair.

KiNA dropped the bomb! Hey KiNA can you make me an "epic" Tsukiumi sig, shame this is way over the limit lol.

I only have this that usuable here
http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/5059/tsukiumisigzo4.gif
The one you post is over limit, yes .. ≧︿≦.. Hopefully the raw comes in HD version ≧ω≦.. Altho there wont be any Tsukiumi for at least another ~5 episodes (gives or take)? *hopes the OP and ED got Tsukiumi material (o◕‿‿◕o)v
Actually you should see Matsu, Kazehana, and Tsukiumi in the first two episodes. I completely forgot about Matsu and Kazehana being shown so early in the manga until I reread volumes 1-6 over the last 2 days.
And yes I'll take that sig tyvm, can't wait for Volume 3 to get animated XD Tsukiumi avatars and sigs will be rampant after those eps!
Lots of shows I'm looking forward to this season, this just so happens to be the one that airs first. The summer season is here.
I love the OP theme, especially the chorus. The four voices (Aya Endo, Saori Hayami, Kana Hanazawa, Marina Inoue) blend together very nicely. I've heard all of them sing at one time or another, but never together. Plus the music sounds very majestic during the chorus. Looking forward to the single.
As for the show itself, not a bad job setting up the world and the stories to come. What you see is what you get. In the case of Musubi, you see quite a lot. There are censor flowers and a few camera angles to hide the boobs, but you can't really ignore them either.
This being Seven Arcs, not a bad job at all on the action sequences. Lots of flipping, dodging, electricity throwing. Fun all around. Since she has Saori Hayami's voice, Musubi reminds me of Kou with the innocence, though she's a bit more up front (in more ways than one) than everyone's favorite Sentinel.
No ED theme this week. Instead, the audience is treated to a lovely shot of Minato and Musubi in front of the moon while things are laid out.
Next week - a place to stay.
Good show, so far.
One thought occurred after watching ep 1......madd fan service coming......
Besides that, I enjoyed it.
Screenies/other thoughts.

A pretty good start, but almost everything interesting was in the previews, so even if you haven't read the manga it felt a little underwhelming. That issue will be gone next episode though, so *shrug*

ep 1
What I found interesting was why they didn't just stick to the manga events as they unfolded...I mean that was a pretty big "spoiler" right off the bat from the start...even if noone who hasn't read the manga should know right now
But on the whole I was pretty pleased with this beginning...at last it starts, time to catch em' all :heh:
Musubi's voice will still need some adjusting but it's getting there...

Uwah, premonition of a kuso-anime indeed...
The OP was... okay. Liked the animation, but something was strangely off somewhere...
I think my interest really dropped after the sudden skip from running to waking up in the apartment... Explanation?
Also, is there no police in the town?... None appeared after people started throwing lightning in the middle of the day and all...
Besides for that, the rest of the episode... would get a 6/10, I guess. The action was far less interesting than I expected, which was the only thing I was looking for in this anime, since everything else is low-level comedy with big breasts (geh), and the protagonist acts so normal at one time and when everything gets bad, he starts going "Oh, I suck" and such...
Well, if I can watch it on nicodouga every week, then I'll continue watching it. This doesn't seem to be the type of show survivable unless watched there anyways...
EDIT: Right, right, forgot. The glasses man needs to get off the tower or something, and stop talking to himself. It's not like anyone hears him (except viewers)...
Preview: New place to live?
Been awhile since I've seen the average breast size this big. I mean, I knew the manga was all boobtastic but it's so odd seeing it animated. Last show I saw like this was Dragonaut, heh.
Anyway, first ep isn't too bad. Very consistent, action is ok.

The first episode is good enough, in fact very good for a Seven Arcs production. If only they put this kind of effort into Nanoha StrikerS....
Anyway, that aside. I've nothing much to complain about the 1st episode. Good animation, good action and good voicing. Musubi turned out exactly as I imagined she would be, as did the other characters.
And the boobies. Man, it was glorious seeing those animated from the manga. A totally different experience.
Now to wait for episode 2. And Tsukiumi.
First episode is awesome. Musubi's voice is cute and fits her character. Minato's voice could do better though. Anyway, lots of good stuff but not enough fanservice....yet :p.

As I've watched this one, manga seems much better. Huge boobs are too Huge in this animated version of story. The censorship is in the way. Seyiu is most likely the best part of this anime. Musubi personality is realy interesting, but there is a fail in the logical section.... she seems like a fool sometime [I don't know if they intend to make such a person] Overall 6/10 for anime 8/10 for manga:)

I'm biased, but: Birth of a Star. Hayami Saori just gets better. She proves here that she has color and energy in her voice when required. The freshness of Musubi's voice, and the sweet energetic turns she gives it are just great. And that is Hayamin heading up the OP so well. She's continuing to grow as a seiyuu, but her singing voice is there already. I liked Tachibana Shinnosuke as the male lead, too; his voice has a fresh innocence that matches Hayamin's.
As for the episode itself: entertaining, but not overwhelming. I'm here for Hayamin, and the show just has to be average to keep me watching/listening. I actually thought that skip from running to waking up was one of the best things in the episode. It just skipped through a lot of unnecessary stuff to give you the main feeling of their being together. Then they could go back and do the action. I thought it was excellent storyboarding (or writing, whoever came up with the idea). It added interest, like the way they had her tell him off-screen that she had nowhere to go, and we only heard him repeat the info, viewing that from outside the apartment. That move also reduced cost, another benefit of doing it that way.

Ep 1 was good.It got swayed abit from the original manga storyline, with few of the scenes inside it,such as the one Kaoru Choujo stated were trimmed...but as long as they don't touch the main essence of the story (the girls and the boobs ofc!),then all those differences and changes done to this series are automatically considered as forgivable :)
Looking forward to watch episode 2.Also need moar Hayamin pls

I agree with Kaoru, what was trimmed was uncessary stuff mostly about Minato, we've established he's a loser, I dont think that needs to be shown as much :heh:. I didnt mind that they cut right into the action part. Animation was nice as well.
Black Sekirei *_*
Musubi getting winged made me giggle, mostly well...come on :heh:
K-KA-KAGARI!!!!! O__O ~rampant fangirling~
Pretty decent for a first epi, imho.
Interesting little side note: While I was browsing through the Animate website a few weeks ago, I saw two Sekirei Sound Stages up for preorder. Nice to know those are on the way.
The BEWB REVOLUTION has begun!! It's still awesome how much the anime art looks like the manga art and animates well. :)
Nice OP and also nice to see them really going through the material quickly, pretty much required even if it's two cours.

Sorry I'm late guys. Room for one more? Just watched episode 01 RAW, and I am very pleased with it. The prologue was good and dark (both in colors and feeling), just as it was supposed to be. I enjoyed the opening, the song was nice, and the voices bleanded well together. As for the episode, very good.
We have our useless but kind-hearted protagonist, and out airheaded always hungry main girl. The battles are very good, and have high, fluid amination. If you've seen Nanoha......AND YOU SHOULD, you know how it is. If you haven't seen Nanoha......GO WATCH IT NOW YOU STUPID ^&%&$^%#%^#^.
I'm looking forward to more episode, and more charcters.

2 things that struck me the most
1. Yūko Kaida and Neya Michiko as the twins is just perfect!!!:bow:
2. Not amazing for a first ep(I can admit that) but I couldn't care less about or what happens later to this anime be it crap or just ok! I'm gonna love every bit of it!:D just awesome!!!
oh and btw they are following the manga, it seems differnet because the first 3 chapters are actually intros, if u read from the real 1st chapter its exactly what happens in the first ep. Those first 3 intro chapters really messed it up for me when I first started reading the manga:eyespin:
as far as I know 3 intro chapters
1. Sekirei
2. Feathers of Light
3. Burning City(this will be the chapter most ppl are missing from the anime)
Real Chapters
1. Girl Under The Moonlight
2. The Door to a New House
3. Musubi
all in all it gets rather confusing some times

haha I have to admit seven arc did a pretty good job to convert sekirei into an anime (at first I was a little bit skeptic here) - so far so good I'll wait for more episode to comment
PS: the VA is really briliant here (the twins, musubi etc) can't wait to hear other sekirei voice

Wow, that was good. They followed the manga faithfully enough, if this and the quality keeps up i can see bright futures for this one.
Looks like fun. Saw the preview and looks interesting. There's always time for, what seems to be, dumb fun.
When is Ku-chan going to appear? ;__;
Decent, the animation was great, and I expected more fanservice.
Not bad I guess.
Just looked at the OP only and I've grown an attachment Miya.
She looked so cute dodging/parrying Mu-chan's attacks.
When is Ku-chan going to appear? ;__;
my guess is she'll appear in episode two. judging from the screenshots musubi made the "jump" towards the moon at the end of the episode, so im pretty sure they'll land during episode two, where hopefully ku-chan will make her cameo :D
Interesting choice for the opening scene... need to read that manga chapter again.
12 cookies says theres the ending in the OP ..
Yeah pretty obvious to the manga fans though I wonder if they will throw in a twist just for the sake of it like Vampire Knight did.. Could be a few years before we get a second season since we're only at chapter 66 now and the ending hinted at in the OP is around 55. I just hope the actual ending fights look as good as the scenes in the OP though I guess the chances of them reusing those scenes is high.

As for the rate the series would be going at, I'd say about 2-3 chapters per episode + some original material perhaps.
That should get us to the end of the bridge by ep 24 or so.
Nice cut off point I guess :heh:

Does anyone which groups are gonna be subbing this? I dont want to watch the raw yet if there's gonna be subs later. ThanksAccording to the Who Subs What wiki (http://www.fansubwiki.com/Who_Subs_What:_SUMMER_2008), four groups plan to do it: Moetaku-Fansubs & AnimeSS, Ayako-Chihiro, Tsundere Built My Hotrod, Naito. The first and last of those have released trailers.

Another show I won't miss .... I need two lifes to watch all the shows I want to see :(
Just saw episode 1, at first I thought it was gonna be like another Dragonaut but then this piqued my interest. It kinda has a Fate/Stay Night vibe. I think I'll stick around for this show. I also thought the opening was nice!

F/SN isn't too far off...minus the serious, heavy atmosphere and add in lots more fun. Well, fighting is just...fighting

By the way, for people who've been wondering about the length of the show, it seems that Moonphase is now listing it as 12 episodes, and at the Aniplex AX panel it seems they made a comment about making the anime 13 episodes... so whether it's 12 or 13, it looks like the anime will be in that range. Of course, it doesn't necessarily preclude possible sequels, as always. That's what you'd normally expect for shows that start in the Summer (they're almost all 1-cur shows), but just an update.
at first I thought it was gonna be like another Dragonaut
Please don't ever think that ever again. Nothing should ever be like that series!
Shall be watching the first episode soon, though from what i've read, i just know it'll be an instant love.
Best new show of the summer, hands down. Animation quality is INSANELY good, and the designs are so close to the original you'd hardly notice the difference.
And the best part is that all the girls look ten billion times hotter in color (Uzume =). Can't wait for the inevitable DVD specials :heh:
Awesome 1st ep! :D
I'm really impressed with the quality of artwork and effort put into it, usually with ecchi anime they tend to skip on that.
Interesting episode, I can't seem to remember the flashback and the scene in the park from the manga so I guess it must be added for more flavour.
The Black Sekirei was even better than I imagined her storming through those enemies with ease with her deep smexy voice, the interesting part was Minato in the lab which tells us he's special in some way.
The only fault I can find with the episode is the Musubi's orgasms when she was winged, where I had to turn the volume down to stop myself from laughing :heh: , and Musubi's VA, I can't help but feel she doesn't suit Musubi's character because I visualize the VA's voice on a stereotypical shy girl character instead of a cute sweet voice of a ditzy and flaky character, although It did grow a little on me by the end.
(Also imo Landlady would look better with brown hair like the colour pages.)
New to the site , does anybody know if their subbing them unscensored or not?

New to the site , does anybody know if their subbing them unscensored or not?Well, they're subbing them the way they aired on TV, so if the TV broadcast is censored in some way, that's the way it'll be on the fansubs as well.
just finished watching the ep, interesting to note that minato has shown more backbone here than in the manga. and just like Blizzer, i couldnt stand the sound effects during the winging, sounded quite indecent lol
p.s. i dont think anyone's subbing them censored

either that or Minato is extremely soft and is able to absorb the impact like a sponge:p

erm
That isnt Minato ;)
Musubi's voice is spot on.. If you read the manga (which I assumed you are not, judging from the above), then you'll see why the VA is a perfect match.
Now on for Tsundere Yoko grand entrance in episode 4.
