Expectations-
More anime stuff that didn't happen in the novel.
The episode will probably end with another cliffhanger for the last episode.
I'm expecting Silver to come alive thanks to Bal Masque, be the final boss, and fill up the last unknown in the website.

The best part of this episode was the Macross Frontier commercial during the break. Ugghh...thank gosh I didn't rate last week's episode all that lowly, I'll be able to give a more crushing rating this time around. :D

Did Sydonay kill Margery or is she just knocked out of the fight?
Yuji vs Dantalion's mechanical Rinne... go berserk again!

Time is short, and I was lucky that I can post early. (No prizes for guessing what this cryptic sentence means)
Anyway, on with the episode.
Obtaining the Reiji Maigo, Hecate transports it inside the clock tower, where Professor Dantalion is working on Silver's armour, places it inside him. As Margery opens up her Fuuzetsu, pillars of stone begin protruding across the city, and shoot out rays of PoE into the blue sphere, which acts as a force field and prevents the Flame Haze's entry.
Yoshida receives a message direct from Johann via Pheles' Hougu, as it seems to activate when something happens to the RM. Yoshida then arrives and tells Shana that the RM has been removed from Yuji. With help from Satou, Margery finds a small hole to penetrate the force field, which the Flame Hazes do.
However, upon entering the force field, they are ambushed by Sydonay, who had anticipated the Flame Hazes entering through there, and Margery is badly injured while covering for the other two, causing her Fuuzetsu outside the sphere to disappear.
Meanwhile, rather than sitting around and waiting to fade away, Yuji decides to make himself useful by trying to enter the distorted clock tower and retrieve the Reiji Maigo before midnight strikes while awaiting Shana's arrival. Even without the RM, he can still fight well against the legions of Domino clones sent to pursue him.
Dantalion comes out and explains what's going on, though he speaks too fast for me to catch it. I'll need to watch it again.
Good use of animation space during the credits. From the likes of it, it'll be the three-way duel seen at the end of series one once again: Shana vs Hecate, Wilhelmina vs Bel-Peol or Dantalion, Margery vs Sydonay, and maybe Yuji vs Silver.
Plus we'll see how Yoshida will fare.

Again?! I should have known that the season ender was going to be a complete rematch.

It's not like this is actually true...but the way things turned out has at least made me feel as if we'd wasted an entire season. >_>

Should have expected something like this. They made Margery-Synonay, Bel peol-Wilhelmina, Shana-Hecate rivals or something. I still don't really understand what their goal is though...
I wonder if we'll get silver/dantalion-yuji...it could still leave us with some questions at the end of the season if they handle things well.

Exciting episode even though it is taking a turn that some people seem to dislike. 24 is up in the air. I doubt anyone who has read the novels can even guess what will happen next because of the large levels of deviation the season has taken.
Dantalion seems to have illuminated the answers to some questions asked for this season so that’s a nice change. Also, this meeting of Bel Masque vs. the Flame Haze shouldn’t be taken as some “ugh it’s the exact same as last season” because there is still one more episode to go and they definitely do NOT have room for all the nemesis to have their 1 on 1 battles again. They are definitely on the stage, but the true spotlight is on Yuuji right now. Hell, leaving anyone out and not giving them some screen time for the season finale would be a bigger crime than causing similarities to season one.
Yuuji falling into that abyss after trying to fight off the Domino brigade was a neat scene to me, to see him fighting so strongly and not cowering away. Falling down into that abyss also reminds me of the end of the animated Transformers movie, where inside Unicron when HotRod fell into an abyss of his own. One might think he would’ve been lost – but he fell exactly where he needed to go- and I believe this is the case with Yuuji as well.
Making use of the ending credits section for more animation made me happy too, as since the protagonists were being held back during the closing music and Yuuji also losing ground, it was a good epic futile struggle feeling that I got. This really makes the next episode worth looking forward to!
I may also be imagining things, but Hecate had some unneeded stares at Yuuji at the beginning when she could have disposed of him. But she didn’t. Maybe some feelings from her faux vessel are going to reveal themselves next episode, or more likely somewhere in season 3?
Kazumi might have to make a choice next episode too. I wonder what that will be? And of course… will Yuuji finally make a choice between the two other points of the triangle? Can’t wait to see!
Also… Doesn’t Dantalion make you smile when he talks? I love the guy! =D
Great episode imo!

He's found his resolve and the primordial mentality to survive kicks in. Did they try using their crossbows against him?
The Balle Masque might have gotten word on how Yuji hindered their plans involving Zarovee, Bifrons, and Sabrac. Perhaps Hecate wanted to see on how Yuji responds when the Reiji Maigo is taken from him.

That was one hell of a hit Margery took upon entering the place Oo
she wasn' slashed at able but all that blood is coming out (creepy).
Even though it is moving quite fast, I like the climax they have set up so far. Heres hope they can follow through with one final batte. And what is a final battle if Pheles doesn't show up. Bye bye Yoshida ;___;
Anyway...I found it strange that Yuji had quite a lot of power of existance left even though RM was removed. Random hole? I know that being able to fire fireballs and lift the sword requires hell a lot of energy :uhoh:
So, I ended up listening to this without video, then watching it. From my unsubbed impressions, it looks like an amazing episode. The music at times is just perfect, and that proffessor guy deserves some kind of a reward for his VA. There was a time near the beginning it just went so well with the music and his expressions and voice and everything really made it climatic.
Unfortunately, I think I saw a Yoshida Kazumi sucession to let Shana have Yuji, and if that is true, this episode will receive an automatic 1 from me.
And Hecate's VA sounded different. It wasn't the quiet rhaspy Noto Momiko I was used to, but a very firm one... Strange.

A great and exciting episode, as expected of the final episodes.
Everyone is getting into the fight, and Yuuji gets chased by junk robots.
As I thought, the last unknown is going to be someone other than what people hoped. Though rather than Silver, it seems to be that statue Denizen thing that Dantalion helped created...
Margery really got hit hard there... Unexpectedly large amount of blood loss there...
Dantalion's as crazy as ever.
"JUST AS PLAAANNNED!!" :heh:
Preview: Thing to protect; The preview says he shouts what he should protect...
While I could think he says one of the girl's names, he probably says something like "the city" or something like that.
Oh... and Kazumi better not use that cross...

Then please do me a favor and do not vote... .__."
Haven't seen the episode yet, but - uh oh - all that blood... Looks quite nice to me.
As for Dantalion, I just love this guy. His "Eeeeeeexciiiiiting!!!" is the best in my opinion. :heh:
Hmm, so we are getting an original ending huh? That kinda sucks, since I was waiting for snh Yuji to appear since the start of SNS II.
Looks like a good episode. However it just doesn't feel right.

Oh great. Guess i know where my universe of Shana ends in the canon story and begins in my mind.
I think the one thing I really love about the professor in episode 23 was his monologue at the beginning at like 3:50-4:53, and especially whatever he was bursting out at 4:23-4:25 (Using Furukawa-r.0.4.r parody times). That with the music in the background and his emotion was just so climatic!
And his beserk monologue at 20:20-21:40 (Also using Furukawa-r.0.4.r parody times) was just perfect with the music. That was a great song, but going through the two soundtracks, I can't point it out...

Good episode.
I think that this episode will have very different inpacts on people. Some will like it, and some will hate it very much. It is true that they are going to finish the season with an anime original ending again (or they might still surprise us in the end...who knows). Some novel readers will probably find this terrible. I won't be surprised to see some 1's for this episode for that reason. But I'm sure that a lot of people will find this a good episode as well. Just try to see the anime and novels apart from each other.
The episode itself was handled very well. I liked it very much. Although I too want to see more canon-stuff, I wasn't disappointed by the episode. The action was good, the music was good, the characters were portrayed well. And although I don't know what the real plan of the balle masque is, I'm looking forward to it.
I'm still kinda scared that they'll ruin some novel material though. I'm just hoping that they'll end it well and that we'll get a third season (although they should wait with this until they have enough novel material to cover)

http://randomc.animeblogger.net/2008/03/20/shakugan-no-shana-ii-23/ Screen shots for this episode.
I just finished episode 23 My version of the break down.
-Yuji is in a shock. Looking at his chest, and looking there is a gap in his chest from where the Reji Maigo was. You can see a faint flame. He soon realizes that he will soon vanish.
-Hecate sends the Reji Maigo in to the clock tower, and in to the silver armor. Dantalion rants on the completion on the process of resurrecting their leader.
-Shana in fear, bolts to the site where the blue dome is. Then meets up with Margery and Caramel. Afraid that Yuji will die/vanish in panic Shana tries to break the the blue dome. Alastor says its a waste of time. Shana refuses to listen and tries to put a lot of power of existence to the next attack, but Alastor tells her to stop.
-Yoshida comes in telling Shana that Yuji is in great danger (DUH!) The reason why she knows this information is because the pendant that Pheeles gave her Johan told her about what happened.
-Margery calls keisaku and asks him if he could locate a weak point in the blue dome. He looks at the top a notices a weak spot. She finds a weak spot tells Shana and Caramel, and tells them to group up. Once she breaks threw Sydonay is right their waiting for their arrival. Then attacks Margery and knocks her down. Keisaku notices the fuzetsu is down from the haridan, and gets worried.
-Yuji comes to a resolve, and that resolve is to get Reji Maigo back and protect everyone. When he is running towards Reji Maigo, Cantate Domino 28 says that there is a intruder "the mystes" is heading towards Reji Maigo. Dantalion says "OHHHH YOU MUSSSSSSSST STTOOOPPPPP THEEEEE INTRUUUDEERRRRRRRRRR!!!!" so a bunch of Cantate Domino 28 (miniature) come at Yuji. He notices them throws a couple of fire balls kills some of them. The Cantate Domino 28 continuously comes at Yuji. When he crosses a bridge he destroys the bridge and some of the Cantate Domino 28 that was following him fell. The Cantate Domino 28 still manage to get across the bridge, and then Yuji gets his sword out and starts attacking the Cantate Domino 28. Since he is in a closed space his sword gets caught into a steel rod. When this happens, Dantalion says "EVERYTHING HASSS STARTTEEDD!!!!!1!1!! LEEETTTSSS BEEGGINNNN!!!!!" and the whole place starts to shake. Causing Yuji to fall.
-Shana comes to a resolve saying Yuji and Her will fight together.
Most likely there will be a season three.
My reasons are.
-There is no word on what Johan told pheles. Back at the festival.
-Another reason is, I cant imagine how the JC staff is going to cram a lot of stuff in to the last episode.
-Mentioned before. If the last square on the Shakugan No Shana website was the Silver Armor they would have already done so.

Thing to Protect
Bal Masque's goal is to create a Denizen that can only be created in the Crimson World in this world.
The one behind this plan to cross over the the wall of impossibility is "Tantankyukyu (Literally: Searching obsessed demanding research)" Dantalion.
To stop this plan that could be called madness, Shana and co. start to act.
But the guard of "Thousand Changes" Sydonay and "Supreme Throne" Hecate is steadfast.
In what way can an opening be found...?
In the middle of this furious fight, Shana and Wilhelmina realized, at the same time, that there was single bit of hope.
And so, Shana and co. begin their counterattack.
Yuuji sensed the fight from within the clocktower.
And, while knowing that the limit is nearing for himself, who had the Midnight Lost Child drawn from him, he continues to run.
For the thing he has to protect, "I will fight my own battle." He says.
Well, there goes the chance for novel events, I think.

Well there's still that one square in the Balle Masque chart...so don't give up hope yet, but even if it doesn't happen the way most of us want it to happen, I have no complaints as long as they make the last episode good.

Dare I say that the season is going to end with the appearance of Seirei no Hebi Yuji?
good episode, athough still dun have much fighting, more fighting scene will be on the last episode. This episode talk alot of thing >.<". I thought Yoshida will summon her. Margery heavy injured temporary rest, left Shana and Wilhelmina fighting.
going to end soon, hopefully have 3rd season.

Will Kasumi forget Yuji as his existence fade? It's kinda confusing cos she has seen the beings of the Crimson World and understood the truth of the world, but then again she's not a Flame Haze or anyone related to that world.

If that was the case, then Keisaku will have the exact same symptoms, although it was already proven that both Keisaku and Kazumi will not forget fading existences by the Fumina Konoe ordeal.

So what determines if someone will remember existences? There hasn't been any need to elaborate this in the plot, but it just makes me wonder.
Anyways forgotten or not, looks like Yuji will have to make it himself this time. At least he'll not be sharing dreams with Hecate while the rest fight for their lives.

I think it's because of the 'items' or hougu that they posses. So that they are connected with the guze world in some way.
Yuji can only move within a fuzetsu and remember existences because of his reiji maigo, I think. And kazumi can only move and remember them because of the item kamshin gave her (the part of his bracelet or something). And Keisaku and Eita could only remember because of the bookmarks from Margery. Remember, Eita gave back his bookmark to get out of that world.

it's a Novel spoiler not a Manga spoiler, and also where do you live...I can't find anyplace to buy Melon Pan where, I live....I guess it's not that popular in Canada T_T
I have a bakery here that sells melon-pan, and it has chocolate cornet too  I can't find taiyaki easily though...
It's plain bread with a crispy crust topped with granulated sugar, so if you're not a bread person, then it's pretty much just sugar dough. Seems that there might be a reason why Wilhelmina chose to buy Melon-pan for Shana; it's relatively cheap compared to other sweet stuff likes cakes and tarts, and it's carbs which gives energy for training. A nice compromise between not spoiling her, and yet giving her a little reward.
And of course while Shana may have tried other better food after leaving the floating island, a childhood favourite will stay with her for life. A girl who fights all her life, and having been through so much, her favourite food is a down-to-earth Melon-pan... that's Shana ;)

How about baking your own? Just tried googling and saw a few recipes that came up. You can probably add your own flavouring and filling. ;)
ô_o... it isn't that great of a bread though. I had been eating it since I have been memory without any idea that it was called melon pan in English or that the Japanese knew about it (it's called 'concha' in Mexico, which is Spanish for shell), but truly, don't have high expectations on it.

Finally got to watch it and this episode was kick ass! Can't wait for the last episode, the last part had my heart pumped.

I thought Kazumi told Shana "You can have him", so this was going to be a 1, but I guess not. :pClosest thing of that we got from Kazumi was "Maybe I don't have a chance after all." Though that may be a concern. That kind of thinking could tempt her to use the hougu Pheles gave her. If it means getting the Reiji Maigo back to Yuji and thus saving him....Next episode should be interesting.
Poor Margery...knew it was going to be an ambush but had to be done. SHe's in a pretty bad spot right there. Shana and Carmel will just need to handle the situation themselves. Of course going up against Hecate and Metamorphosis will keep them occupied. May be left up to Yuji to deal with what's inside.
Was a little worried at the start. That scream of his...But really he did a nice job. Managed to pull himself together and knew that he had to do what he could. Shooting fireballs and slashing up the robots, he's doing a nice job.
Preview gives impression that Yuji will make a choice in some regard. But if it's going to be anime original and leave things open for a third season...Hopefully it's not like last time where it's conveniently not heard :heh:.

I found this episode sub-par considering what they were trying to do. Since its anime original and it's the ending, it's like we're supposed to have a big climatic battle. It just seems stupid to me because if we are going to see a third season, we already know Bal Masque's plans are going to fail and we already know that no one can die. Sabrac's fight was far more exciting from the very beginning than this.
Compared to Shana season 1, I didn't know it was getting a second season and I didn't even know it was non canon till I came on Animesuki. This is perhaps why I enjoyed that far better than this.
If we don't get a season 3, I'll be even more ticked off than I am now considering some future events that are or "were" supposed to come...
Despite my qualms about knowing that this isn't canon, I thought the episode was "ok", earning a good ol' 7 from me.
P.S. Why did Yuji even drop Blutsauger at the end? Not enough P.O.E?

Yuuji better kick their butts. Those Guze no Tomogara are so going down.
ep 23
(just in case)
yay another rather uneventful ep, the only highlights being a weakened and trapped yuji and a promising chance that kazumi may volutarily drop out of the race b4 shana can bring back yuji
but this is the relative calm b4 the true storm so im fine with wat happened in ep 23.
Closest thing of that we got from Kazumi was "Maybe I don't have a chance after all." Though that may be a concern. That kind of thinking could tempt her to use the hougu Pheles gave her. If it means getting the Reiji Maigo back to Yuji and thus saving him....Next episode should be interesting.

Kazumi thinking she may not have a chance is fine. She still has a chance, so I'm happy, even if she's doubtful. Don't give up, Kazumi! You can win his heart for sure!
My hopes are that they wrap everything up next episode. Honestly, they tied season 1 and season 2 together quite nicely with the POE flood at the end of Season 1 and Silver at the end of this season. At least, I think that's Silver... A third season to me would be disastrous. Maybe an OVA series to wrap it up, but not another 24 episodes...

Great episode. Earns a solid 9 from me.
They tied all the fillers together with this episode (except episode 1 and 2 of season 2) and I think that they did great. The Konoe arc wasn't in vain after all. They did have a reason to do it, except for the harem part! =D
Looks like they'll be using Konoe's emotions/memories as it's brains, the silver with the reiji maigo inside him as the heart, and the clock tower and such as the body. Awesome! Looks like they're trying to create a huge silver! =D
Yuji calling the name of the person he wants to protect next episode? I figure that it'll be Shana or the whole village. Although Shana would be great to end the season with. I mean, this is a good time to solve the love triangle with. In SNS both Shana and Yuji are only able to confess when they're in danger/about to die. And this is such a time:p
They still have many opportunities to insert novel material after this. They might have changed a lot, but the route to the novels in still open if they do the final episode well enough. I mean, it looks like the silver won't be an enemy this season, so the paths to some things that I won't spoil here are still open.
This episode and probably the next one, combined with the sabrac battle make the season worthwhile again in my eyes. Let's just hope that they'll finish the season in a great manner ^_^

With the Professor's explanation, at least they tried to make some sense into the purpose of sticking those last 5 episodes into season 1, as well as justifying the insertion of Konoe Fumina than just a mere fanservice tool.
Still, I must say, Professor, have you been infected by the "Bond Villain Sickness" that you must feel compelled to explain your entire plot to your enemies before its success is 100% guaranteed? :heh: (Though it's entirely believable with his exaggerated personality. Were Sydonay, Bel-Peol or even Hecate to do the plot exposition, it would have generated even more "WTF" responses. )
Very good 2nd to last episode.
Margery-san took a big hit from Metamorphosis after entering, but she could've just been knocked out.
Hopefully Shana and Carmel-san can get the Reiji Maigo back to Yuji in time.
I hoping that Pheles returns to give a helping hand.
As the ending is an anime original, we could see another series. (I hope so)
I don't perceive that the last episode is going to be a flop. On the contrary, the penultimate was a blast from another dimension. It looks like the ending for season two is reminiscent to the ending of season one.
We have the right to be concerned on how the animation staff will handle things, since there's only one episode left but still several subplots that aren't tied.
People, this isn't new in Shana. The same happened for the last episodes of the previous season, and yet they managed to tied a few of the loose knots and at the same time explicitly paving way for the continuation (season two).
The blue world inside the Fuzetsu-look alike sphere was surreal. The effect was fantastic, displaying a frozen world that was twisting under the influence of power of existence being sapped away from Yuuji into the thing inside the Clock Tower.
The rundown about the Bal Masque most heinous operation was:
1. Extracting the power of existence that leaked during the previous battle in the Seirei-den (season one). Bel Peol placed a seal to ensure it would stay in place beneath Misaki City.
2. Create a faux vessel (Konoe Fumina) to collect emotions for data so that Master Throne would operate the tower.
3. Extracting the Reiji Maigo from Yuuji.
With all those three elements gathered, the Bal Masque is bringing forth an existence unlike any other Tomogara: the Statue of Pride.
Nothing paints well over the horizon for Shana and Yuuji. Everyone's in a pinch, so let's wait for the last episode to check for ourselves if Yuuji is going to make it or not, and if Bal Masque succeeds or fails at giving to birth the monster that they're attempting to materialize.

I truly wonder if Bal Masque knows what they are getting into. What they are creating seems more like a monster than anything else. If this so called Statue of Pride is as powerful it seems to be it could very easily have a will of its own and decide to lay waste to everything including Ball Masque. Thats the problem with creating something more powerful than yourself controlling it is the issue and with that much POE unless you pull the RM out its pretty much godly

Its heart is Reiji Maigo, but it has the mind and memories of Konoe Fumina (the vessel that they're talking about). I guess it'll come alive, look curiously at the bird resting nearby, and pet it.
Of course, that's assuming that Silver is just an empty container that provides the body and nothing else. But I've always wondered about those eyes inside it, whether they're existences, and if they have a will and mind of their own. What exactly are they?

Thats a good question im just wondering whats its personality will be like. Technically its has the memories of someone else. It could do exactly the opposite of what Bal M. wants it to do. There is so much mystery behind it im curious as to what will happen. Will it follow orders? Will it betray Bal M. so many questions i have about the internal workings of it. They are assuming the experiment is a success but that remains to be seen. I cant see how the memories they gave it would make it evil after all its brain is filled with happy memories of Yuuji, Shana, and everyone else.
Off topic for a bit the way things are going im not so sure we will get a true Shana, kazumi and Yuuji resolution. If this is going to be anime original ending it looks like they are possibly shooting for a 3rd season i cant see this wrapping up in the last episode unless they do some epic as all hell.

So was there parts of season 1 that was filler also? I wasn't on any forums at the time so I'm not quite sure.
And they actually didn't mess up this episode as bad as it could have been. I kinda enjoyed it a little bit. The doctors explanation tying all the fillers in together were nice, and it didn't seem too far fetched.
Although I really dislike Anime Original endings to seasons, If they leave enough of a window to allow a third season I'd be happy. They are making ZnT 3 so i think SnS 3 defiantly has a shot. Hopefully a third season they could iron out the wrinkles they had here in season two.
Although they DO need to end this triangle once and for all, please don't drag on for a third season if there is one.

The final episodes of season 1 were anime-original as well. The whole thing with Serei-den and Yuji and Shana almost dying was all anime-original (filler)
And yeah, I agree. They have to solve the love triangle. If they drag it any more, then it'll really start annoying the watchers.

Wow I had no Idea it was Anime original. Usually I can pick out when an anime uses filler material. I'm actually kind of suprised, I thought the end of the first season was pretty good.
And I'd much rather have a third season of 'awkward bf/gf moments' with Shana and Yuji rather then the whole 'I can't confess or pick a girl moments' Also if they end the love triangle, it would help Kazumi's character out immensely (assuming she doesn't die in episode 24) because then she wouldn't be limited to the 'Shana's rival' role any more.
TBH what I really hope for is if there is a season three, Yuji has a complete change in personality. Suddenly he becomes obsessed with boobs and turns into a pervert. Then Shana needs to develop a catch phrase like "Urasai Urasai Urasai, Yuji you stupid dog" and repeat it at least 10 times an episode. Also their relationship has to be completely effed up. Like they need to get married in an episode then 5 minutes later Yuji has to be sexually harrasing girls. I think JC Staff has it in them. [end sarcasm]

With Shana and Yuji? Why Shana? Doesn't have to be. Kazumi will win! Whether it's in this season or fanfiction that I consider canon, she will win! :p
But, I don't know... A 3rd season would really just be overkill. No more love triangle to deal with, the Bal Masque's great scheme completely failed (Unless it succeeds, in which there are endless posibilities), and most of the novel material is covered. There'd be nothing left to the story.

Well the Love triangle being gone would be a good thing. It was beat to death in this season and it really dragged on to the point of being uninteresting.
But the novel is still ongoing correct? I thought it hasn't been finished yet.
Qucik question: If the season 1 ending was filler. How did Yuji get such a massive PoE? To my knowledge he is supposed to be powerful in the novel. Didn't he get his large PoE from fusing with Hecate? If that didn't happen in the novel then how did he get his power?
I'm lost on what's filler and whats not now. UGH lol

Originally when Sydonay tried to take the reiji maigo during the twincest arc, he lost his arm to Yuiji's keeper I believe and that arm gave him a massive boost in PoE since its from a very powerful Tomogara after all.

I am 94% with Chrissie on this one, the 6% being Kazumi :p. Honestly, the huge thing in the novels - it's supposed to happen on Christmas, which means that it would have taken place right now, so the settings would completely change for Season III, therefore annoying novel readers even more. If the love triangle isn't resolved, then viewers will be annoyed even further, but if it is, there isn't really any back story to cover. The novels are actually near the end - Yuji and Shana try to confess their love, but they have bad luck every time they try to do it. Get that over with and what else is left? Sure, Shana would stick around with Yuji, but then the third season will just be another Pokemon or Yugioh type show - one fight after another. Not exactly a good storyline if you ask me.
Honestly, the novels have already reached a climax the anime never will. Why should the anime hit the novel standard when it can create something of its own uniqueness?
In short, if Yuji calls for Shana, there's no more character development to be done. A 3rd Season would just be dull.

There are other unresolved issues that I'd like to follow up too, mainly Yuji's family history and his younger brother.
I hope Hayato makes a comeback appearance too. If they could start all over again, Yuji and him would form a great team. One with the resolution and ability to fight, the other intelligent and resourceful. I could see how Hayato's at the haridan planning out the moves, Keisuka helping to look out for defense weaknesses and maintaining communications with Margery, and Yuji, Shana and Wilhelmina fighting it out at the scene. And after each fight, they'll all go to Kasumi's house and enjoy her homemade snacks. Happy ending for all and Misaki City. :D

This is precisely why I want a Season 3. I think you could get a very nice twist on the Shakugan no Shana story by having the antagonist plot succeed, and having a season dedicated to showing the aftermath of that.
If Season 2 ends on a cliff-hanger note, then there's no reason why the antagonists can't win... or at least be shown winning. Heck, that's what usually happens in cliff-hangers...
OMG, I hope Kazumi dies.

Triple R: The problem is that would mean a season 3 would be almost ENTIRELY filler, as that would be what it is based around.

Quite possibly. I mean, in season 1 from the very OP when Shana runs and cries in Yuji's arms I thought "That looks like a very unnatural couple." And then that scene where Kazumi tells Yuji "You're human, because you're warm" showed me who the natural couple is. Maybe it's because I can connect more to her personality or something...

Pheles loves her freedom despite being a bit on the edge. So it's better that Kazumi become the Flame Haze contracted to Valac instead. At least when it comes to killing enemies, Kazumi would have a talking dagger who would instruct her where and how to stab.

A strong episode I was happy with.
Some comments:
1. Like an earlier poster, I think Hecate lets Yuji live, partly as a consequence of the whole Konoe arc. There's no reason for her to do so, and there's that scene at the beginning where she brings her staff down, and Yuji expects it to be a killing blow. And it's strongly implied that she sees him enter the clocktower. I expect there to be more fallout from the Konoe arc to be shown in the last ep.
2. The theme of Yuji and Shana fighting together was quite well done. I dare say it was a sign of real progress in their relationship, and I hope it leads to them being finally together at the end of this season.
3. I honestly don't know whether or not I want a 3rd season. Whatever they do, I just hope they resolve the love triangle. However, if they *do* do a third season, I can see the writers leaving things ambiguous. Perhaps they'll do what they did with season 1--make it seem resolved, but leave enough room for a reset later.
4. The maniacal mad scientist was well done.

Think about it. Yuji wants to protect the city. Kazumi's part of it, and I don't know why the hell he'd want to protect Shana when she can fight for herself. (Assuming that no crazy stuff happens like Season 1 Episode 21.)

I don't think it's that much a consequence of Konoe Fumina. Has she ever wanted to kill Yuji? I don't think she has ever "wanted" anything at all. All her actions have been orders from Bel Poel and part of her greater scheme for Bal Masqué. If she ever did wish for anything, it's just Bel Poel making use of her.
I suspect the consequence of the Konoe arc would be more evident in the Statue of Pride, since the emotions and feelings collected give it its mind.

I guess this is wishful thinking on my part that applies to both the novel and anime. Hayato is a character that provides contrast and also good teamwork alongside Yuji; it's really a pity that this character has gone to waste.
Wishful thinking aside, I would still be curious about how Hayato is coming to terms with Kasumi's answer, so hopefully that will be explained if there is a third season. And then maybe a proper exit scene, instead of leaving him lingering in the plot.

Staff using the two extra minutes of the ED to quickly cover some important events is proof that they're at least trying to be able to end it well.
I want to see Yuji plunge his big sword into Hecate XD :heh:
I hate you.
But really, Hecate is great.
The only thing that really made me think was that bird Hecate watched the first time Sociometry played. Maybe she finally had some sort of emotions.
Leaving your sanity out of it, you gotta be pretty brave to support Kazumi on this forum
Or madly in love.

*gives Kazumi to ChrissieXD*
So now everyone's happy. Yuji and Shana can be together. Chrissie has Kazumi. No more worrying about the love triangle:p
Anyways, I love dantalion and domino. They are great XD
But yeah, I wonder how they'll end the season (and maybe series) in this last episode. A lot is happening, so they'll do it either in a superb way...or they'll ruin the whole series with it XD;

When will there ever be any scenes of Bel Peol fighting? Yuji fell into the darkness below but Dantalion mentioned about the huge power of existence source in the ground that Bel Peol placed a seal over. Perhaps there might be a chance that Yuji can still disrupt their plans for the Statue of Pride?
I just got around to watching this episode last night.
The Good: Yuji continuing to be an anti-Shinji, less commentary from Kazumi.
The Bad: Dantalion talking way too much.
The WTF: Margery getting destroyed by Sydonay. I know it was an ambush but I figured she would've put up a shield rather than take a potshot. Fits her nature I suppose.
Overall, a decent episode considering it's just setting up for the finale. I just hope that the last episode is actually up to the task and finishes strong. It's too bad they didn't condense the whole first half of the series into fewer episodes to give more time to the current developments.

yeah it definitely looks like a cliffhanger to me, the last ep would definitely not be long enough to conclude this development of events.
On another note, this ep was awesome, as Shana second is coming to an end the ep are becoming more and more intense, the action is getting good and drama is thick in the air.
This is one thing i love about Shana, it never fails to keep me at the edge of my seat.... Hollywood movies should really learn something from them..

The Margery eyecatch alone was worth a "9".
But win, Kazumi, win!
My possible ending ratings are Yuji chooses Kazumi over Shana>Shana dies and Yuji choose Kazumi>Kazumi dies and Yuji decides to never love again>Shana dies and Yuji decides to never love again>Kazumi dies and Yuji chooses Shana>Yuji chooses Shana over Kazumi
Hmm I am a neutral sliding towards Kazumi. Prefeably shana goes for a round the world tour after everything is settled and Yuji marries Kazumi. 70 years later after Kazumi had died, Shana comes back for Yuji to spend eternity with him.
Anyway as an anime only watcher, the episode is not bad, full of action and there is some kind of plot. As long there is some adequate closure at the final ep, this season still can get a B+ from me.
For the true geeks watching, the morse code Domino uses to control the robots is "CQ".
