Tomoya & Nagisa: One of the best couples I've ever seen in anime, if not the best. They just go together so well.

Kyou: Epic fanservice FTW.

Mei: She doesn't get much time, but oh how well she uses what time she does have.

Akio: Complete LOL GAR. Sunohara's gags fall flat at times, but I can always count on Akio as a pick-me-up. :D

- Kotomi for being clueless and cute and because after her arc she was just put aside, they even didn't show how she got her violin back... :upset:
- Tomoyo for simply being superior and deserving better
- Fuko because her arc was the most moving and for outstanding cluelessness and funniness!
- Mei for having much too little screentime while being the most moe character in the whole series.

- Tomoya for being a slowpoke...
- Nagisa for being too whiny...
- Both because they didn't even kiss in the end.

Nagisa: Too kawaii... but with substance! Just had to vote for her!

Sunohara Youhei: Always there for comedy relief. :D

Fu-chan: I seriously miss her... T_T But her arc nearly made me cry...

Sunohara Mei: What an awesome girl! I wish we could have seen more of her, and I agree with Ascaloth, she used her short appearances well. :D

The magic in CLANNAD for me is the fact that 99-100% of the cast is colorful and likable...
If it was reasonable, I would vote for everyone, but heh... I will simply cut short to 6 (Can't lower it to 5 :heh:).

-Nagisa & Tomoya: the golden pair. Simply put, one of the rare anime couple who are growing in a steady and nice way.
Individually, they have nothing to be ashamed of:
-Tomoya: A very strong male lead. Sympathic and Empathic, Tomoya is an active character who can interact with most people, along with outstanding humor, without any mischevousness. He is hardly cliché, as he is more like an "average teenager" who is doing what he can do
-Nagisa: "moe blob" at the first glance, but that's really not the case: Nagisa has an outstanding growth and set of values which are hardly failing, even if it is against her own sake. I don't mind her "too kind to be true" (especially that i know 1-2 people of the same category IRL XD), and she is quite the figure that Tomoya needed all this time.
Giant plus: Voiced by Nakahara Mai.

-Kyou: Genki character who is pretty much headstrong and supportive. She has another kind of "selflessness" which is quite commendable (restraining her feelings for Ryou first, then for Nagisa). Lots of fun with her, excellent combo with Tomoya when they are "abusing" Youhei and sure has assets

-Mei: Ultimate Little Sister! It is a shame the Anime couldn't explore her route (and it is hardly possible even with AS considering her situation with Youhei in the anime series). Really energetic, cute and devoted.
And what's more? Tamura Yukari is voicing her ^^

-Youhei: Comic relief? Indeed, but he is hardly only that. Youhei proved to be quite a mood reliever but also an excellent support in many serious situations (Drama club, fuuko etc). Youhei might be superficial at first, but it is only because of the execution of the joke, as his substance is quite something else.

-Akio: MANLY father. The other great strength of comedy in Clannad. Akio is seriously an excellent character who also bears heavy responsibilities.
What's more? It will be even better in AS!

-Botan

Both lacked some screentime, but I expect some justice in AS ^^".
I would also add IW girl and IW Robot, but since I know what is going on, it is kinda biased. But these scenes are really powerful once the truth is unfold.

Kyou: Was great seeing her around when Sunohara was there, great comedy pair heh

Mei: Love her, shame there wasn't more of her in the series though

Akio: Simply brilliant, relationship with Tomoya is first class :D

Really like the other characters as well such as Ryou, Kotomi, Tomoyo and Sunohara but those were my top 4 so i picked them :)

Cookies to the garbage toy and the girl. Completely captivated me whenever the robot was narrating his story despite their little screentime. So much so that they left greater impression on me than some of the main characters.

Tomoya for just being cool.

Tomoyo for being able to carry on a conversation as intelligently and mature as Sunohara and Akio, minus their sometimes annoyingly over the top antics when they're not acting intelligent or mature. Which is most of the time, but you kinda grow to find them amusing...

Favorites

Ichinose Kotomi - She remains my favorite storyline in school life, she is just cute in every way possible, and she is quite pretty. Violins are just amazing instruments for any character as well. I guess I'm envious of her, since I've always wanted to learn the violin.
Miyazawa Yukine - Maybe it's from the game, but I love her personality. Dreaminess and friendship to all.
Furukawa Nagisa - Main character, and quite possibly one of the best leads I've seen. She was probably the least "awkard" lead, and it became very imaginable that such a person exists. In fact, I probably like her so much because she is like the mirror image of me in the real life. Shy, stubborn, and afraid to take that first step.
Furukawa Akio - A lot of this comes from what I know he becomes in After Story, but I kind of grew to love him like a father. He's just the perfect father in every way, and his ability to show true manliness in every way is just amazing. I guess I admire him more than like him.

Notable Mentions

Sakagami Tomoyo - She gets on this list because I love the way she looked, and quite a few bits of her personality. I hated her story, however. It just didn't reach to me.
Botan - "Puhi! Puhi!" And that is all.
Fujibiyashi Ryou - Tsukasa's twin. Well, her second twin. Though, I really wish I hadn't seen her genderbent... She was just fun to watch.
Illusionary World Girl - I'd say why, but I'd be banned for spoilers. :p

Nagisa: One of the best female leads ever imo. She's a very realistic character, she's very cute/moe, and she's been growing tremendously throughout the series. (10/10)

Tomoya: One of the best male leads ever imo. He's got humour, a wild imagination, but he's always there to help people. He's not perfect either, considering his own family situation. (10/10)

Kyou: She's hot and she's funny. Loved her in every episode and it's sad that they couldn't give her more of a story. But yeah. It was either Kyou or Nagisa, and I'd choose Nagisa's story over Kyou's any time. (9/10)

Akio: Best father ever XD (9/10)

Mei: Best sister ever XD Wish she could have had more screentime. (8/10)

Sunohara: Best comic relief ever. And he can be really smart at times as well. (7.5/10)

I was actually surprised she's topping the list right now. Mostly because not a lot of people understand her headstrong fragility as a female lead who has covered a lot of ground in character development.:p

Tomoya - 10
Because he is my mirror image, until about halfway through the series where he pretty much left me behind.:p

Because I wish my own dad kicked as much ass as he does.

He may be sometimes obnoxious, an idiot and perverted, but I wish I actually had a friend like him.:heh:

Polls like this can be very difficult to vote in, as sometimes there just are a lot of characters which are likeable, and the result does not reflect which character users ultimately like better than which. Does the forum support a system where each choice is given a "weighting"?

For example, I pick a 10 for Nagisa, a 9 for Sunohara, 6 for Illusionary Girl, etc.
Unfortunately, it isn't the case.
Well maybe GHDpro/NightWish are hiding a card in their sleeve, but as far as I checked bulletinboards options, there is no weighting for votes in multi vote.

Furukawa Nagisa: I think she is very cute. I didn't really like her character in the series, but through the series she won me with her tears and cuteness.

Sakagami Tomoyo: "W-well, my eyes are bad! of course" :D win. Also I like how she reacted to Sunohara when he tried to "catch" her XD

Fujibayashi Ryou: Bad at cooking I know. But she's cute, intelligent and I'd like to get a fortune telling from her someday :D

Nagisa: Cute Master, any doubt? Watch episode 23 for new reference. :)

Kyou: She is pure energy, and have great moments. Climax episode 17. :)

Tomoyo: She have a stable personality. Loved all fights and sports. Episode 18 is the episode for her. :)

But I like all characters, all have good moments and contribute a lot.

Sunohara: My favorite character. Yes, he's completely ridiculous and the obvious comic relief required by every anime series, but he never fails at pulling a lol. The whole early dynamic with Tomoyo had me hoping for a sec we'd see more than the main get some lovin', but that's the way the Harem crumbles. :upset:

Akio: If Man Law was ever embodied into a single man, it would be him. I loved how he gave Tomoya a hard time, especially when they seem to be so similar (well, excluding the loud boistorous ways and overly romantic "NO! I LOVE YOUR BREAD, SANAE!" :p ).

Kotomi: I thought she was the cutest in terms of personality. A social recluse genius who "seems" to be totally oblivious to everything. I often wonder if she purposely ignored Tomoya in the library...

Tomoya: Strong, pretty, and keeps Sunohara in his place. Still kinda creeps me out how much all the girls adore her and the fact she likes wandering around in a giant teddy bear costume... 0_0

I like a lot of the characters, but I like 2 in particular so much that I could only vote for them:

Kotomi: Hands down the most beautiful anime girl I have ever seen, and I have seen many. Her oblivious personality and her mannerisms, like constantly hanging onto Tomoya and holding hands with Ryou on the way up to the soundbooth, are unbearably cute. Her story was also for me the most emotional in the series (have not played the game yet.)

Nagisa: Every single aspect of her is just oozing with cuteness. Watching her do or say anything always brings a smile to my face. Works hard to achieve her goals despite her lack of confidence and grows a great deal.

I was very glad to see her have such a happy ending in the series. I just hope the second season doesn't follow the events in the later part of the movie, I don't think I could take seeing that happen ever again...

Honorable Mention:

Tomoya: An all-around cool guy, also funny and works hard to help the people important to him.

Akio: Hilarious and awesome, nothing else to say.

Tomoyo: Pretty, sensible, good at many things and has a strong sense of justice. Also becomes extremely cute in the Tomoyo After manga (which technically shouldn't count for this but meh:p)

Sunohara: Comedy relief with a strong serious side, I really disliked him at first but he grew on me more and more as the series went on.

Finally Kyou and Ryou: Both very pretty; Kyou has many funny moments and the shed scene is one of the most memorable of the series. Ryou is very cute, nowhere near Nagisa or Kotomi level but still cute.

Hmm, maybe I went a bit overboard. Couldn't help it though, such a likable cast:heh:

Tomoya & Nagisa - Our favorite couple who grew and supported each other throughout the series. I seriously cannot wait to play this story in the game.

Fujubayashi Kyou - The genki tsundere "tsukkomi tutor", CLANNAD excelled in comedy and that's also where she shines.

Sakagami Tomoyo - I honestly have no reason to vote for her based on the anime, but I'm playing her route now in the game, so you'll have to forgive my bias here.

Sunohara Youhei - THE ultimate best friend for a guy, also carries the school life comedy along with Kyou and Tomoya.

Sunohara Mei - I'll be blatantly honest here: Tamura Yukari

Furukawa Akio - His bat will pierce the Heavens! This guy somehow manages to be GAR and a deep character at the same time. Also a family man, important for CLANNAD.

IW Girl - If you knew who she was, you'd vote for her too. Plus, the animation is freaking amazing.

Okazaki Tomoya: Absolutely one of the best male leads I've ever seen. Despite his failures in life, he helped on pushing Nagisa forward in order for her to gain confidence. Has strong sense of humour, a wild imagination, always there to help others and somehow very good in deceiving people. :heh: A part of him reflects me IRL.

Furukawa Nagisa: I don't like her at first but after watching her growth episode after episode. I started to like her not only as a character but as a female lead for a series. And Moe rating overload for me :D

Fujibayashi Kyou: Started as my favorite character and will also end as my favorite for this season. A bad-mouth but a very good cook, energetic, selfless (restraining her feelings just for Ryou's sake), similar to Tomoya (making fun of sunohara), has great moments (hench episode 17 :naughty:) and She's HOT :love:

Sakagami Tomoyo: Despite her lack of appearance in the series, she gets my vote. I dunno why exactly, even though I've played her route from the game. Or maybe it's just that I find her interesting because of her strong sense of justice. Or maybe she gaved sunohara some hangtime :heh:

Sunohara Mei: Oh I just love to have her as my little sister! :love: +points for being voiced by Tamura Yukari :love:

Furukawa Akio: His overall reactions are funny :heh: GAR in every way possible. If only my dad was like him, I'll bless my life to the fullest!

Tomoya: One of the most kickass male leads in anime, where the male protagonist ISN'T a loser/wimp/ball-less piece of trash. He's on the same, if not, higher level than Kyon. Funny as hell.

Sunohara: Who can forget this character? He is, IMO, the funniest comic relief character I've ever seen in anime who isn't there solely for lulz.

Mei: I wish my sister was as nice, kind, and kawaii as her.

Kotomi: She's a very adorable character, silent and moe, and not in the typical moeblob way. She's super intelligent, a good cook, and can kill :D. My favourite girl character in Clannad.

Yukine: She's just so...*shit, can't find a word to describe her* an appealing character. Nice and kind, and very beautiful. Of course, them charms she gives out contribute lots for Clannad lols.

Akio: He's like Kamina in a different series: the embodiment of GAR, hot-blooded to the max, and the "kick reason to the curb!" sort of guy, whilst giving the love to people he knows the best (Well, not really Tomoya, but yeah)

My votes:

Tomoyo: I just can't say how much i love her. She's the perfect mix of strength and beauty without crossing into Tsurendre.

Tomoya: finally, a SPS immune protagonist. Thats an instant win.

Akio: A last minute jump in. Near the end, every line has my on the floor laughing. EDIT: episode 22 gave me a whole ton of new reasons to choose him.

Sunohara: funny and stupid, just how i like my comic relief characters. what really sets him apart is how he can be caring and smart when it really calls for it.

Honorable mentions: I wanted, but didn't include these characters in my votes. Nagisa, kind and beautiful and clueless at times. Very cute, but her story/character felt a little dull and i didn't get the emotional kick i did with the others. Fuko, her story had me closest to tears since i first watched KGNE. her random appearances however completely ruined it and made her very annoying instead.

P.S. I demand that they make a Tomoyo After OVA :P

Hmm...

Tomoya and Nagisa for being the only couple so far in any anime that I actually care about. I loved Tomoya, he was an awesome lead and didnt fail to make me laugh. And Nagisa, she was just awesome. (especially if you compare her to Uguu and maybe Misuzu) I loved how her character changed through the show so much with the help of Tomoya and how she gained more confidence. She's just adorable. Tomoya and her complement each other so well <3

Akio: For being too GAR and hilarious. No one can pull of the things he does.

I like all the Clannad characters, but Tomoya and Nagisa are my absolute favorite. (Akio just gets there because of his GARness)

Honary Mentions:

IW Girl and Robot- Unfortunately, I have been spoiled on who they are. And they would get in my vote, but I'm going to wait for season two before I do.

Sunohara: For being one of the best side/foil character that made me constantly grin but had his serious sides too. (He dosnt get a vote though because I'm still annoyed at him from his route)

Fuko: Because her arc is quite touching. I always have found that the saddest theme in anime is to be forgotten. It pains my heart to think of the feeling of no one remembering you or people forgetting the people most precious to them. I got teary eyed during my first watch, but didnt cry until the epilouge.

Mei: For being an awesome and caring little sister.

And last, Kotomi-chan: For being fun to watch and extremely moe. (Darn, I'm a girl and I couldnt help wanting to hug her. Same with Nagisa) x3

5) Sunohara Mei: This used to be Fuuko's spot, but Fuuko got repetitive somewhere along the way. Mei on the other hand grew quickly on me, and the last episode was the clincher lol.

4) Sakagami Tomoyo: Really only here for moe points, as kick ass + seito kaichou + meganekko = absolute win for me. Plus, she's one half of the beat the living crap out of Youhei team.

3) Ichinose Kotomi: Osana-najimi bias aside, I still loved her character. I connected with her character more so than all the others, and she's just so quirky she's loveable. She ain't number 2 though because she received the shaft, and if she had equal time with 2 I will have difficulty picking between them.

2) Fujibayashi Kyou: As I said in the other thread, it's like combining the best traits of Nayuki of Kanon and Kagami of Lucky Star, both of which rank extremely high in my moe list. Add on botan and zettai ryouiki, and she's up here really just on the strength of moe and how interesting her character is to me. And yes, she's the second half of the beat the living crap out of Youhei team lol.

1) Sunohara Youhei: This guy's really just hi-fucking-larious, and yet he can be serious and caring whenever he wants to be. I loved Kitagawa Jun in Kanon, and Youhei is Jun to the nth power. Without question, the best character in the series IMO.

Well it's certainly no surprise Nagisa managed to edge out the other girls, considering her recent performance. It is however interesting to see Mei remarkably close to Kotomi in vote count.

Tomoya and Nagisa, as individuals are as they are, but as a couple, they are so much more. There are very few relationships in anime where two characters grow so much and become so much better as people because of each other as do Tomoya and Nagisa. There are a few better examples, like Chiaki and Nodame in Nodame Cantabile, and one could even make the argument about Yumi and Sachiko in Marimite, and any of the undine "pairings" in ARIA, so on and so forth, but those two are right up there. I just enjoyed watching these two so immensely.

I'm trying to limit myself to just four, because, just like Klashikari, there aren't many characters in this that I didn't like.

Fuko gets a vote from me, because I loved her arc. It was a great story, powerful because of its simplicity, and I just loved how dedicated she was to her goal.

And Kyou gets my last vote. Yes, I thought she was a bit incidental to the story, but damn, she was so much fun. That storeroom scene, that'll stay with me forever.

How I'd love to vote for them all! Alas, some shall stand above the rest.

Tomoya:
Neither wimpy, overly indecisive, nor extraordinary heroic. He is a very human character who values his friendships greatly and has his own set of problems. His humor is U1 level and his imagination is off the charts. :D

Nagisa:
Far from the shy, withdrawn person we've seen in the first episode... With the help of her friends and family she has grown the most out of any character so far. She's kind, caring, and surprsingly strong-willed when she puts her mind to it. Still naive though, but that's a cute thing about her. :)

Kyou:
Really funny when she's brash and wild. Really cute when she shows her deredere side. The storage locker scene and the tennis court scene were two of
my most favorite scenes.

Kotomi:
She's probably the 2nd most character that has grown through the series. She started as an unsociable, airheaded, moe loner into the Kotomi will know now: being friendly, energetic, and still moe. :p

Seriously, she was soooo cute during much of the first half of her arc.

Fuuko:
Fuuko is easily the strongest character emotionally. She went through that entire ordeal without once feeling sad, and never giving up. What a girl... and she still manages to make me laugh.

Despite being the most naive girl out of the 5 main chars, she's still adorable.

Yukine:
She didn't get much screentime, but she's so dreamy everytime I watch her. It grows on you.

Mei:
The best little sister anyone could ask for. She's kind, devoted, and cute. Her VA totally amplified the effect.

Akio:
A great father who never lost his sense of childhood. Which makes him funny as hell. And totally respectful of him when he's serious. He's probably the coolest father figure I've seen in an anime.

His speech in the theatre in ep22 was one of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen.

Botan:
Puhi puhi! This little boar is just too cute for words!

Well, I still stand by my choices in the 1st thread, + Akio, coz i didn't vote for other back then. I actully like all the characters in this series, but I had to vote just a few to avoid voting for them all.

Kyou - the most delicious character in this series :love:. She sports the most natural blend of tsuntsun and deredere, which led to a debate on whether she can (not) be classified as a Tsundere, which in turn got derailed to how one defines a Tsundere. Ep18 broke me and made me play the game. It's a pity that her story will never be covered in the anime -- it was either Kyou's route, Nagisa + AS, or Tomoyo + TA (and everyone and their pet boar, including me, will take Nagisa + AS over anything anytime). Curse KEY for shafting its most original heroine.I'm Fujibayashi Kyou...
I'm not... Fujibayashi Ryou...When she liked the person I did, I knew who had to be hurt...
That's why... to make Ryou smile, I thought I had to bear it...

Akio - BEST. DAD. EVER. There is no fatherly figure in recent memory that can come close to the epic awesomeness that is [Furukawa Akio]!TEME!!

Youhei - BEST. COMIC. RELIEF. EVER. PERIOD. :bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:
Anyway, let me just say that he does he job pretty damn well, and that he can also deliver drama when the opportunity arises. I'll be hoping for and looking forward to the Sunoharas' route in season 2.Friendship is the BEST!!

Tomoya and Nagisa - I refuse to write their entries separately ;). The couple was decided from the very start, and Clannad just wouldn't be Clannad if it ended any other way. then i vote for the girls are Nagisa, Kyou, Kotomi, Tomoyo and Sanae. Nagisa was a very kind girl. While Kyou and Tomoyo i like their personality. Kotomi is cute. While Sanae is a good mother, and is a best pair with Akio, this husband and wife really make quite a lot fun scene in Clannad :D.

above is my favourite chracter, other quite ok as well, actually give me a very good impression :), I like them.

It's pretty amusing how Kyou and Tomoyo, the two girls who had half [or more than half, I didn't play the VN yet] of their arcs cut off, are doing better than Fuko and Kotomi, who more-or-less had their full arc intact [again, I wouldn't know as I haven't played the game].

The saddest part about this is that on the original poll Kotomi was #1 by a very large margin until her arc ended, then votes for her just stopped. Guess people stopped caring after she was reduced to a side character with 1-2 lines per episode. Oh well, she'll always be #1 for me.:D

I only voted for three this time, Tomoya, Nagisa, and Youhei. This is also the first time I've ever voted for more males than female, especially in a series like this, but I stayed true to my favorite characters. Nagisa and Tomoya is one of my favorite couples, because they don't run around in a love/hate relationship like idiots. And Youhei, well, I think he's one of the most important characters in the anime, period. Without him, the anime would have been so different. Thanks for everything Clannad, and I will look forward to watching more, although I'm not sure if I will like After Story a lot. There better not be lots of love/hate drama and the focus should be on comedy.

I know, that's another reason I find it unfortunate; even with all that screen time and development Kotomi isn't as popular as those two. Although again to be fair, the actions of Kyou and Tomoyo when not in the spotlight seem a lot more likely to have made an impression than Kotomi's. Throwing books and nearly running people over with a scooter, or beating up the comic relief guy while wearing a bear costume, are a lot more memorable to most people than the few random lines Kotomi was reduced to. Oh well, I like Kyou and Tomoyo too and my preference will stay the same regardless of poll results, so in the end it doesn't really matter.:heh:

I voted for the following:

Okazaki Tomoya - I like him because he's a delinquent. It's funny because very few main characters of harem-type anime are like that.

Furukawa Nagisa - Somehow her sweet, demure, and very indecisive personality made a delinquent get his act together (at least partially). And on top of that she's almost as funny as Fuuko at times.

Sakagami Tomoyo - The way she can beat up anyone is hilarious, especially the way she was always beating the crap out of Sunohara. I mean, c'mon, cute and tough? Only in anime.

Ibuki Fuuko - The main provider for the OMGWTFBBQ moments in the show. The way she always shows up "to help" only to become a burden to Okazaki is hilarious.

Sunohara Youhei - The ultimate best friend to Okazaki. Brings the comedy but also the friendship. Even if they're not speaking, he's always there. But usually they're speaking.

Furukawa Akio and Sanae - two separate poll options but almost must be expressed as a pair. A singular unit of outrageously funny comedy but at the same time Nagisa's unconditional supporters. I still look very closely at all bread before I eat it.

My answers are educated mostly by the game, considering that I played that much more recently than I watched the anime. That said, here were my choices:

Okazaki Tomoya is not your normal harem lead, and definitely not your standard visual novel protagonist. He has a past, he has a present, he has a future, and he has definite character. While most leads don't have strong personalities, Okazaki does. We get a definite sense that Okazaki is a character with strengths, weaknesses, and growth. He gets my vote because he is what most romance-based stories lack, a strong male lead.

Furukawa Akio is GAR.

Fujibayashi Ryou is my preference of the sisters. She was my favorite before I played the game, and solidified her position after I played it. She caught my eye because she was cute, a little clumsy, tried hard, and had thigh high socks. Admittedly, I also liked her because I knew she was a minor character. She also made for the perfect straight (wo)man when Okazaki switched places to trick Fuko and Okazaki convinced her that Nagisa was confessing. Moreover, in the game, her story was the one I could best relate to.

Normally there is always more then 2 characters that i usually hate in harem series, but i love every character in clannad. They are so fun and unique in their own way.
But if i must rate them
1. Kyou - Like Cuxe said, she is my "type"
2. Kotomi - i love intelligent people
3. Nagisa/Fuko - adorable

hmm this may sound like i dont like tomoyo.. but i like her as well. Its just that, i like her when shes not fighting... and unforunately those stupid gang guys keep coming >.<
