A female body is significantly different from a male's. So in essence, it's not the same as looking at a shirtless man's body ;) Ranka has curves just like most other females so she still has sex appeal hence the figurine that was released :p

I do. But, strangely, I don't always go for the big-breasts, when preferences for characters go... it's more a matter of personality. Like this series, for example: I started liking Ranks, then switched all the way to Sheryl - but I never even cared much for Nanase. Big Klan was a hoot, but she was simply too lightly featured...

Apart from the obvious features, I really like the figure's face. She looks...kinda sweet and kind, really.
And when you're looking at someone dressed in festishy militaristic bondage gear, "sweet and kind" is something of a pleasant surprise.

The parts do have a nice and snug fit. Of course, please use the usual care in slowly taking them apart. One thing is, parts of the clothing do have pegs similar like when assembling snapfast model kits/gundam model kits. So do take care when (dis)assembling this figurine.

It's totally transparent, and comes with Sheryl's signature on it. And the neat thing is that the signature is printed on the underside of the base, so no worries about accidentally rubbing it off on top.

I have collected some PVC figurines in the past(Gundam Seed Destiny's RAHDX, GITS:SAC, etc), and this is one extremely detailed figure. Even with the swappable parts, the details are indeed flawless. The essence of Sheryl Nome during her concert is very much captured in this figurine.

I have the Sheryl Cowgirl figure on reserve already but I'm not completely sure if I want it now >_O The figure against the original artwork really doesn't look good enough but...I'll see how it goes when it finally comes to stores >___< (The drawings looked so cute though...it would be such a shame if the figure wasn't up to par T^T)

The super cute mini keychains seem to be out for winter 2009 EXPO again so I'm hoping that means they'll be reprinting that set ;___; I already have brera but...I originally wanted Hime and Sheryl but they ran out of Hime T_____T

As for bikini Sheryl...honestly I think the bullet Sheryl and the captain bondage figures were better made XD This one's a bit boring (and I don't even like the bullet sheryl :"D It gives off the wrong impression that she's some giant slut and frankly she has enough of that wrongful image already =A=) they could have at the very least given her a removable jacket as well T^T
In the end though...what I really want- and wish they would do even if it will never happen- is a Sheryl / Alto / Brera Nendoroid ;_____;

It's an awesome game. The missions are an improvement from MAF and the storyline follow the animes more.
I only started Macross Zero and Macross F missions. I heard from my friend (he started playing it a week or so ago) that Basara's VF-19 Fire Valkyrie is awesome :P
yea the game plots are more in line to the anime. so far i've complete frontier, macross plus normal mission. going on to macross era.
so far the unit i like most is VF-25G with armour pack, VF-25S with armour pack, VF-19 & VF-21( dual gunpod rocks )

Those words seem to be the beginning of a very interesting story, actually.
Just to make a note, as a PC gamer who also speaks no Japanese, I am quite jealous of you guys. :D There is that "Macross VO" and the "Macross VO XP" remake games that came out for the PC back in 2001 and 2002 by Bothtec. As far as I know, though, these are the only Macross games that are available for the PC. I actually wonder if the game will work under Win7 (JP)...

Is anyone still reading the Frontier manga? I picked up Volume 4 yesterday...and while it's still not good, I think the art has improved over the first couple of books.
It was also kind of interesting that the death of Michael was handled TOTALLY differently, but still worked pretty well.

I'm tempted to go with the grade-school book-report answer and say, "If you want to find out, read it yourself"...but I won't. :p
Michael and Klan go out and fight the Vajra swarms in space, outside Island 3, while Ranka is singing inside. The Vajra arrive, the MDE Bomb is about the be detonated, and Klan's Q-Rea gets seriously damaged. Michael helps her out of the Q-Rea, grabs her and starts flying off with her, but the Vajra are still attacking. Michael gets wounded, but he still keeps pushing forwad, carrying Klan to safety.

Oh, the TV series is VASTLY preferable, I think. The comic is very compressed overall, and the art...umm...isn't the best. The one thing that's kind of fun about the comic, though, are the other little homages that the artist throws in, like having a grown-up Flower Girl at Sheryl's concert.
A lot of it's different from the show, but it's all kind of hit-or-miss.
Nonetheless, I did think the idea was actually interesting - even if that kind of situation has been done to death (pardon the pun). Don't know if it would fit well in animated form, but let's see how they go - if they do - in the movies.
I'm tempted to go with the grade-school book-report answer and say, "If you want to find out, read it yourself"...but I won't. :p
Michael and Klan go out and fight the Vajra swarms in space, outside Island 3, while Ranka is singing inside. The Vajra arrive, the MDE Bomb is about the be detonated, and Klan's Q-Rea gets seriously damaged. Michael helps her out of the Q-Rea, grabs her and starts flying off with her, but the Vajra are still attacking. Michael gets wounded, but he still keeps pushing forwad, carrying Klan to safety.

Well...more specifically, Klan asks him if he loves her, and he smiles and says, "I'll give you my answer when we get back." But the fact that he takes A LOT of shots while struggling to save her...well, she has her answer...

Just saw the Macross F Galaxy Tour Final in Budokan DVD.......er, in a not so honest way.........
I tried to get the DVD but it was more expensive than actually going to a concert (650 HKD...what a rip off). The Fire Bomber concert in Hong Kong is only 480 HKD. You know what I mean?
I'm going to wait until the price goes down before I buy it.

Well, while am not a Ranka Lee fan, this figure still do impress with it's huge array of accessories, cast-off feature, and an extremely well painted & sculpted figure. The details of her hair band, and other non-removable hair accessories really does bring out the details. Anyway, it's a nice addition to the macross frontier series of figures by this current manufacturer.

I'd love to get a hold of some of the Macross Frontier chibi's, though none of my local sites seem to sell then. Not even HLJ, which is a huge surprise.
I know for a fact that the shop I usually go to as the NyanNyan noodle chibis, though how many they'd have by the time I go there next I'm not sure. They're also slightly inflated because they purposely open the boxes for you to choose the character (whereas most anime hobby shops keep it random so that you fumble around XDXD)
As I said, if there's any specific ones people want I can always go check prices.
If that shop still has the NyanNyan noodle chibis, then if it's alright with you i wouldn't mind knowing the prices. As for characters, i don't mind as long as i have a few. :p

The shop keeper usuuaaalllyyyyyy gives us a discount since we buy so much from him (hahahah;;; ) but at least by store price, the most a chibi may cost would be 10USD.
The Red ver. characters are more expensive than the Blue versions.
Sheryl Red is most expensive while Ranka Blue is the least.
Alto is second I think with Klan +Ranka Red sitting in the middle area.
Airmailing something so small would prolly only go about 4-5 usd.

I'm not so sure about the blogs being recycled from the online blogs but at least they didn't name it a "Visual Collection." I hope they decide to release a Visual Collection for Ranka somewhere in the future with Risa Ebata helping out.

Hmmm, actually the review says that there's tons of trivia about Ranka, including the fact that she kept a 55-page blog. (but then again I might be wrong :P)
EDIT: I read in another place that this book would contain a Zentran word dictionary, right now I am using a computer that doesn't have a Japanese language pack for the browser so I can't check it. I was looking forward to it, but now it seems like it's more like a Ranka dictionary with some Zentran phrases in it (R-T kun referring to her blog alias for Alto?) :\

It's Banpresto's Ichiban Kuji series.
They previously released the 1/8 Klan Klan (in pilot suit), Nyan Nyan Service Melody Sheryl, and Seikan Hikou Ranka.
I also want to see Megahouse give Black (or White) Rabbit Sheryl Nome the Excellent Model treatment. IMHO their sculptors have done a better job at capturing the look and feel of Sheryl.

The scanner i was planning to use is only A4, so i can't scan a full page from the calendar. :(
I can always take pictures for people, though i'm gonna try and find someone i know who has a A3 scanner. Sorry about this. :(

wargh. Lately I started playing Macross Ultimate Frontier.
It's actually kind of awesome but...

while playing the Frontier story mode I wanted to kill myself every time Ranka appeared on screen. It sort of reminded me WHY I didn't like her and that feeling worsened every time I see her in the Frontier shop saying "Kira" after every frekkin sentence (on the other hand whenever we completed a mission Sheriru in her hawtastic china dress will be in the store all tsun tsun *A* it makes victory soso sweet)
I wish there are more guides for the game ;___; I really want Brera's mech unit since it's so frekkin fast (it zoooommsss around~! I also want hawt manslut as my pilot ;___;)

The PSP is region free, so Macross Ultimate Frontier can be played on an American or European PSP. Sure the game will be in Japanese, though with a few guides it shouldn't be that hard to work out.
I should have a copy next month. :D

and also, PERFECT triangle? sorry, its severely skewed... haha. anyways, i got the Sheryl artbook from my friend today. its miles better in real life than in scans. its just so much crisper. plus i don't think all the images have made it online either. unless i missed the post a while back. i also love the pencil sketches of Sheryl in every ep. fantastic stuff.
I finally got my copies of Perfect Triangle, Sheryl's Visual Collection, and the Roman Album. Roman and Triangle share a lot of the same illustrations, but seem to have different interviews, haven't gotten a chance to read them yet. Roman also comes with a different foldout.
The bad thing is that while I was flipping through the books I somehow started to read the guide for the movie and got spoiled...now when does the Blu-ray come out...I have been avoiding all things Macross for the last few months knowing the the movie wouldn't be coming out on BD for a while, but broke down to get these books. Now I'm actually feeling regret...

I don't have it in front of me as I'm at work, butIt's about Sheryl coming to terms with how she wants to die. She met an old man playing Vivaldi's Winter on a violin and notices from the mistakes he makes that he's dying too. They get to talking and she asks why he's spending his last moments here instead of with his family. It turns out that he was born in Washington DC before everything went to hell and wanted to be a violinist. Although the Unification War didn't affect him, the space wars did and his dream took a backseat to surviving. And now that Frontier is on the verge of being annihilated, he remembered his dream and wants to spend the last part of his life like this. So his answer to her question is that she should understand since she is an artist too.
There's a lot of introspection on Sheryl's part throughout the the story. Hearing the old man speak of his own history makes her think about how she has no connection to the past. Also Sheryl's a virtual encyclopedia when it comes to anything that can serve as inspiration form her i.e. any type a music or art.
I'm probably getting things mixed up and leaving out details so I'll correct them when I get home.

The only other character that shows up is the girl who won the Miss Macross pageant. I don't remember her name:p. She was planning to flee Frontier since her family has the wealth and power to take advantage of the less than legal methods that are available, but ended up staying because she realized that she couldn't face Sheryl if she did so. Her goal was to Sheryl. She's also confirmed to be the granddaughter of the has been that lost to Minimei in the Miss Macross pageant.
