Winry is SO OOC in that episode. Where did all of her coolness go?

What's OOC? Out of Coolness? lol
Almost. Out of character. She's evil, she's crying, she's twice as wierd than in manga.
Armstrong sparkle joke is being really overused. And who would ever thought that Ed would look so bishie with his hair down? :innocent:
Though, I really want to know what is all "Don't forget 3 OCT 10" thing is about. >_> *have only watched the raw, don't know Japanese* <_<

Its the date that they burned their house down.
I kind of liked Winry in this episode. I don't think she was OOC it just actualy showed more of her character. I thought it was great.

I just saw the episode, and thought it was pretty good. Ed and Al now realize they do have a place to come back to and they aren't alone. One thing that bothers me though, why doesn't the military have their own people who can work on auto-mail? Ed can't be the only state alchemist with it, so it would make sense to have people who can fix it. Of course it's possible they do, but Ed would only let Winry and Pinako work on it...

I agree that she's really different from her manga counterpart. They gave her a more feminine trait, I think. Not that it's bad, this IS an adaptation after all.
Right now I just hope that she gets more interesting parts to play in the future, girly female characters usually don't get to do a lot in shonen series (other than to be rescued).

Winry looked really sexy in her working clothes, or rather lack of. ;)
Has anybody seen the preview of the upcoming episode? There apparently is some conflict between Scar and Lust's group. Darn, one more week...

Now that we've seen a couple of scenes between Edward & Winry in this episode, do any of you think these two would be an item later on? :)
PS. Edward doesn't really need to worry about his height. Hopefully he'll overcome those jokes thrown constantly at him lol. It's all about his buffness that'll attract the ladies!
So Ed may be small, but none other is a tank like Edward, well, apart from Armstrong. :)

They aint that funny but for some reason i start to laugh whenever Armstrong shows up "I can help you with my beatiful body of mine!!!!"

If they could make him a bit taller than the girls at least, he'd be a total stud muffin/chickmagnet in FMA ;). But I guess Ed's height plays a major role in the comedy department therefore should be stayed there.

I would have to agree, look like she grew.
Wow! I've never been so happy that an episode's full of filler! Although I mourn the passing of the line 'Behold my body!' from ALA, the new parts with him were great - and I liked the neurotic Winry...

o where o where can I get a body like Winry's???? She looked so cool and hot in that tube top and outfit... I'm jealous....
Have to agree Ed really looked quite manly with the shower scene but his height does put him a bit off... Hahahahha... oh well... nobody's perfect right? But didn't anyone remember that in Ep 1 he already was showing quite a bit of muscle when he ripped his shirt off to show Roza what human transmutation did to him???
About this ep... was funny as usual but a little slow... can't wait for next one to see Lust, Scar and Marcoh's stuff in library...
for the person who saw it in raw and didn't know what 3 oct is... its the date they burnt their house down and left their home

Just curious, does anybody out there find that Armstrong reminds them of Gai in Naruto?
And another thing, I'm not sure which fansub group's FMA I was watching before, but they translated her name to Winly. I know the 'L's and 'R's sound the same in Japanese, but is there any right anglicized translation? Or are both Winry and Winly equally acceptable right?
overall, a good episode. I thought the emotional stuff with Winry and Ed was pretty touching and Armstrong really seemed to care about the two brothers. When the discussion got fairly serious between Ed and Al, he rips the door off the hinges and marches in to tell them about the beauty of the countryside. I wonder what Edward was going to ask Al about in that scene. He started to ask, but changed his mind. Overall pretty good. Winry is awesome.
Yes, fullmetal alchemist has correct romanized translations for a lot of things. They all appear on the 2nd page of the manga of each volume. Winry is the correct romanization. And about the episode... that they included the watch thing in this episode makes me wonder if they are going to skip the later sequences with winry.

I like how ALA told the Elric brothers that they did indeed have a home. And how Winry used the shuttered light to call to them. It's a warm, fuzzy episode... which is awesome!
I only wonder what kind of tragedies will yet befall our main characters.
Personally, I think Ed was going to ask his brother whether his brother resented or regretted following his brother's lead. Ed is always doing his own thing... not cutting firewood, trying to change the world... and Al is picking up the pieces. I'm guessing Ed was thinking about the consequences that he made his brother suffer through.
My 2 cents.

this was one of the great "filler" episodes. i relly like this series...only thing is what is gonna keep it going for 52 episodes (i haven't read the manga, and i don't know how much further it is)
winry is so
wow, shes so hot in that ep.
Well, I liked this episode a lot. I thought the maturing of the boys AND of winry was good. Remember "its been four years since we left here". I thought the episode nicely showed winry as growing up without losing her concern for edward. (and for al, but it seems particularly for ed), while edward and al are growing up in their own ways as well, even witrhout their "real" bodies. I laughed at when winry says how he doesn't need his real body and sounds to get excited about the machinery. I think it was winry said that. My PC was skipping about a bit in the video so I may have been mistaken but I still laughed And the lamp was cool.

Probably. They did skip the whole thing with the screw from chapter 9.
It was a pretty crappy volume overall. I wouldn't mind if they skipped it, although that whole time period would be a good place to have loads of filler episodes.
I really liked this episode, though I'm still wondering about Al and his memories. Was it just a bit of filler or are they going somwhere with that?

I think this ep shows the realization that the soul transfer wasnt perfect and that Al will steadily lose more and more of his memory. Ed will have to race against time to get Al back to his original body or else lose Al forever. Thats my 2 cents.

I am going to have to agree. It is probaly proff that the soul transfer wasn't completed because it was kind of a desperate situation when it happened so their were bound to be flaws with it.

This is also kind of a difficult time to not have a regular human body too. Al has been a suit of armor since when...age 11-14? That's pretty much the whole of puberty right there, so even if Al does get his body back, what exactly will he get it back as? A child? A young adult? A fully grown adult? Will his voice get deeper? Will he get angsty feelings due to strange hormonal influences?
Also, I think the memory loss is also an accentuation of how Al is slowly losing his humanity, and Ed realizes this, resulting in a rush to central library ASAP.

well the funniest part was when winry was looking at armstrong can i disammble your watch and armstrong saying i should go chop wood for 1 year i was LMAO ahhahaha :D

im just saying...i totally understand that al needs his body back but...why the hell does ed need his body back??? He's stronger with that arm and looks hella tight with it.
and NineDevil ...hella yeah..she looked hella good there.
Humm, an enjoyable episode =D. What I found most important/interesting about this episode is the fact that Al isn't as immortal as I thought. I figured he's just an empty suit of armor that can never be killed or die from old age. He's quite fragile espacially against someone as dangerous as Scar. Next episode, Scar vs Lust and her gang... wooooooo... anticipation. I'm going to guess Lust beats down on Scar alil until he gets pissed off and they're forced to retreat. Hope it comes out soon -__-;;;
I don't think Scar could beat Lust. And from the previews it looks like he'll lose. It really pisses me off that Marco actually told Lust where Ed is going. If Marco knew what kind of person Lust was, why would he give in and tell her, even when Gluttony was threatening to eat that girl which most likely he did anyway. It all makes no sense to me, Marco giving into Lust's demand and both the girl and him are probably dead now.

Afterall the speculation of Al losing his memory... I think that in the end... one of the brothers will have to die... its sad but would make quite an emotional ending.... what do u guys think?

I really enjoyed this episode too. Armstrong was funny ^-6 too much sparkle tho LOL. Did you notice him busting down the door to tell them to look at the starts. 0_0 LOL Winly is quite cute ^-^ Ed is so hot ^-^ yeah remember his built body from when he ripped of his shirt ehehe in ep one i believe or was it it 2 0_o. Anywho I think Ed may have feeling for Winly but he has MUCH more on his mind than that after all they is a crazy X-box man on da loose LOL. I also think the Winly likes Ed a lot more than she lets on ;)
I must say that my eyes were bulging out at Winry's outfit the first few times we saw it. But I also loved her character. She's a major part in the OP and ED animations (all 4 of them), why doesn't she play a more major part in the show? Manga readers: Does she have more parts in the manga? And where can I get scans (it isn't licensed yet so I can ask that right?)

Okay i think we established long ago that winry is cute, no.. can we get back onto the plot? ^^
As brought up earlier in the threat, i too beleive that in the end one of the brothers will die, i do also have a strong feeling that in the end edward will give his life to give al his body back, in doing so he will cross over to the other side and see his mother (maybe dad too?) and al will live with winry and co.
Given that they killed off the little girl by having her transmuted into a chimera then blown against a wall, i would not discount the ending being bittersweet.
but then again, thats just my opinion..
one last thought.. anime these days needs more yaoiness... bring back onegai twins maiku + friend love interest!

okie.... about the being really thin to get that figure... i was 45KG and 5 ft 6 inch at one point of time and I never had curves like those... now I've increased my weight to 50 to add to the top and bottom but my damn waste has built as well !!!!!!!! am i genetically destined to be like this... sigh.....
oh well, back to 17, I feel that there's a chance that if one of them dies, it might be AL..... I suppose it would be a drag since al has always been sacrificing his needs for his bro... but I think he would end up giving his life to him completely ad maybe ed and winry get together in the end....
either this or.... they both don't get wat they want and stay in those bodies of theirs forever, but this is not very possible seeing that Al has started having some problems losing memory of things..... in any case, this show has been so surprising anything can happen..... i just hope the ending is a good one no matter what it is...

Lotta skin in this episode. ^_^ I ain't complaining though it was a bit unrealistic that Winry could walk around like that without Armstrong or Ed blushing. I can't shake the feeling they only did it for marketing purposes.
I'm also wondering if they put the "fuzzy memories" situation here when Al is in pieces to make us speculate that it might just be because a big chunk of armor was destroyed instead of a flaw in the soul bindnig thingie.
The flaw might explain why no one else has bound themselves to armor or other golem-like object. Seems like a method to live forever if it works... though at reduced emotions and feelings similar to the soul-transferred people in Galaxy Express 999.
-k
one therory that I came up with about Al and his memory loss. . .
When he notices that he cannot remember any thing, about 1/3 of his armor is laying in pices no longer attaced to him. I assumed that his soul is transfixed into all of the armor (heled in by the blood made seal on the inside back). Yet if all of his soul and memories are inscribed into all of the armor having part of it destroyed would be like cutting chunks out of your mind. thus causing memory loss.
so it may not juts be the soul binding to the armor, but the damage to the armor that causes the memory loss. just a therory, and one which we will have to see played out in the series to know more about.
i thought that the armour is just a home for AL's soul. if the seal or transmutation circle got destroyed his soul would be lost forever, cant really agree that when his armour got smashed into pieces, part of his memory got lost too.. hmm in the end the amour was restored, so does his memory ?
possible meaning of his memory loss: he went through alot of hardship as a kid thus he cant recall anything about that girl.

About the end: Well, it's IMHO a very big hint, that the opening speach of every episode is held by Al alone in a past tense form.
Hey, that's really true, I think that's what made me think in the first place that one of them would die... but I didn't give the opening a further thought after that... now that you've reminded me I think that its quite likely... anyway, what could be of equal value of a life but another?
I thought maybe it isn't really Al's soul which is attached to the armor, but Ed created a completely new life, which just thinks it's his brother.
Have you read the manga? Because this plot device is used by a villan to drive a wedge between the brothers.
