I looked at Anime News Network, and they noted a manga adaption of the series by Ryou Akizuki. Googled it, and found approximately jack shit.

Yes, it said "adaption", probably meaning the anime came first, but I'm not no sure given the lack of information. Any info... I could dig that.

Right, the anime came first.

It's being serialized in Dengeki Daiou right now (which also happens to be the same magazine that Azumanga Daiou was in). The first volume was just released.
