The BGM for this series really hit me in all the right places... So far, my most favorite is the one played while Kidd was travelling to the Pyramid :nod:
If i was going to name my favorite BGM so far, i'd have to say the one used for Black Star's introduction --- his theme so to speak. That and the one used for Kid's intro.

The show is 50-52 eps, there's defintely going to be a second OST.
Kekkaishi (also by Taku Iwasaki if anyone didn't know) was 50-52 eps... and it's tv ratings crush Soul Eaters... (6-9% >>> 1.7%) no second OST... I really wanted Gen's theme... :(

Love the new ending, everything about it! The music is both catchy and pleasant, exactly how an ending should be... The visuals is simple and 'easy on the eyes' :)
A definite improvement from the first ending... Sorry fans of Stance Punks, "I wanna be" is just not my... 'Style' :p

I just recently made the same connection for the first time :D I noticed that the Soul Eater OP sounded a lot like the Darker Than Black OP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0nkXfW-tpQ) (which is just as amazing)
After I found that out I picked up Abingdon Boys School's cd, and I've been listening to it nonstop. If you like the Soul Eater OP you'll pretty much love the rest of their stuff.

I am currently listening to the 2nd ED album and just have to comment on how good it is...in fact I think it is excellent! :)
Not only is the ED song good but also the two extra tracks that comes with it. The mixture of "upbeat" and generic pop works wonders on your mood (especially when you aren't in a very good one) and I must praise Nishino Kana for her own Style ;)

and also the theme that plays in episode 21 when maka enters Krona's circle drawn in the sand, it sounds like a theatrical variation to the ending bridge segment of never lose yourself i love it.

The variety of the OST is what I was hoping for. We have 'classical' instrumental pieces - 'Camellia' in particular putting me in mind of the Princess Mononoke score, of all things - alongside rap, rock and some vaguely jazzy bits in between. Whoever the composer was, I want more of this stuff.
Current favourites are 'Krieg' (I think that's the name), 'Camellia', and despite my usual dislike of their kind of thing 'Black Star (never lose myself)' and 'Death the Kid (so crazy)'. Just too darn catchy.
However, when it comes to what's put into the show, watching 22 raw last night I did think that perhaps the music was getting a bit over-the-top.
Playing 'Lyacon' (sp?) upon Free's appearance made obvious sense, but it did seem to kinda of overwhelm the animation.
Great, fun collection of tracks, all the same.

This is what makes Taku such a brilliant composer --- even though he sticks to the same style for each of his works, each one still is able to stand by itself at being rather different compared to most scores by the big names that are appearing.

It really is a very nice OST. Just good variety with the type of music you'll find in there. Just having played a wind instrument Camellia is one of my favourites in there. Though some great high pace songs also. Definitely a win overall with this one.

when everyone's preparing to face Medusa and Stein is giving his speech
Naturally I love the music from both those scenes and I'm really happy they included them. Rest of the soundtrack is really good as well.

This one was my favorite scene in Soul Eater.
I love the scene with Soul and the Oni. The Oni asks why bother holding on to fear and rules when they are only a hindrance, and he tells him off with this really cool speech. It was short sweet and to the point. I practically use it a lot as a sig for most sites cause it just sounds so amazing. And also the dance between Soul & Maka was both sweet and quite an interesting premonition of what's to come.

This is easily Taku Iwasaki's best production yet. Much like Yoko Kanno's (Bebop), Yasushii Ishii (Hellsing TV) or Susumu Hirasawa's (Paranoia Agent) work, it works excellently in the show

Haveing watched some of her videos her fans that don't watch soul eater might not even notice a diffrence from her normal videos, I mean she has a scythe in like 3 of them, includeing the one that she is vampire snow white (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpBCyqq7uXk&feature=related)and the grim reaper in candyland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl3uqkbJBJw&feature=related). She has a very nice voice and I wonder if she is fluant in English since there seems to be a lot of it in her songs and she speaks it very well. I was shocked to find out she is in her 30's she looks so much younger

Indeed, then it would have like a "only for me/us" feel. Watched some of her PV's and they don't really appeal to me, looks too fake and over the top. I'd like for the soul eater PV to be a bit more "serious" in nature.
Like if I see her jumping around with side dancers/band dressing as SE cast or something like that, I'm gonna throw my monitor from the window.

Not really related to any official music, but Juno Reactor's song "Mutant Message" would work well as a theme for so many of the characters.... Stein, Medusa, Chrona, Asura... It's also one of the creepiest songs I've ever heard.

Love ED3... god who am i kidding, although in a whole different style, i don think i've ever enjoyed so much an OST as this one's and Cowboy Bebop's. (maybe some intros from Rurouni Kenshin and Death Note)
Not so sure about Death Note, but Cowboy Bebop's is great. Was listening to the SE one today. A bizarre mix of styles, and very entertaining for that, though in the show it does occasionally overwhelm the action (case in point for me being the Free vs Kid fight; much as Lyacon was fitting, it was in the way).
The 3rd ED has really grown on me too. Catchy.

Anyhow Bebop is by far the best i've heard (and seen for that matter) .. and about that mix of different sounds we only have to join "Real Folk Blues" to "Chicken Bone"..
I was about to name my favs but i was looking at the list and c'mon... "ask DNA"-great, "call me, call me" great, Tank- GREAT, "walk in the rain" and "green bird"are carved on my memory from that awesome Ballad of the Fallen angels episode, with some of the best scenes in the whole series. But of course, for me its cowboy bebop... they try comedy, it works; they try drama, it works; they try kick ass action-it works.. even Toys in teh attic horror- it works. ^^
But it was a long time since i saw that series, my very first anime import DvD collection.
For a long time now i havent seen such an enjoyable choice of soundtrack as in Soul eater, it rly gets that new generation teen-tech-punk beat rly well and those songs can rly get into your ears

Oh wow<333 The second opening is amazing too. Soul Eater has amazing openings and songs. I really loved the part where Soul was with the piano. I can't wait til the anime has more of the Soul and the red room clips.
The beginning with the english words were very nice too. ^^ Especially since sometimes when the japanese songs try to incorporate too much english, it sounds bad.

It wasn't supposed to be a 'new' version, but a quality one, now that the single is out. The old rip was extremely low quality.

OutSmart, most of the rips on the net were indeed VERY poor quality. That is the reason I posted my (still not perfect, but I tried) improved rip on SEF. The quality version has true sound, while my rip had a bit "too" sharpened/cleaned sound.

Finally got around to reviewing the Original Soundtrack (http://blog.animeinstrumentality.net/2008/12/16/soul-eater-original-soundtrack-1-review/). As far as the musical aspects go, my impressions of it overall are pretty tepid and though there are quite a few decent tracks, most of them just don't really stand out on their own and require knowledge of the series in order to do well and I've heard better from Taku Iwasaki. That said, the good tracks are able to cultivate an atmosphere that's rather fitting and the rock/rap infusion is perfect as a means to describe the series's characters and overall style.

That's a full version of the ED. It may just be my computer, but the volume seems to jump up and down a bit, and it's not great quality but it's the only full version I've been able to find.

After listening to STRENGTH over and over again, I truly believe that D.Gray-man should had deserved another song from the same group of such dark-caliber.
However, I'm pleased to know and learn that SOUL EATER is taken in high regard to feature songs by the vocalist.

There was a similar track that Taku Iwasaki did in Oban Star Racers that was used in the epilogue sequence. So I'm assuming it'll probably be the very last part of the episode, if not the ending sequence. However, this song has been used, without the vocals in other episodes. It was used during the Mosquito and Medusa fights when Maka used her Majingari.
So who knows. It's a very beautiful piece, in anycase. I really hope the vocal version is atleast used in the last episode in some shape or form.

I would really love another CD to get the rest of the series' music but I don't think there will be one. I have seen studios release post-series soundtracks before, but it would only happen if the first CDs and the series DVDs sell well enough. And IMO it's not good news that there's music unheard in the series yet. If they wanted to sell a 3rd OST, they wouldn't release what might be important finale music yet.
The music that didn't get released might not have been made into full tracks, either. It might not have been worth it to create an entire song if the composer knew BONES was only gonna use a certain bit.
Like the harmonize track- if BONES didn't ask for an entire song of that version, there might never have been a complete one made. There's no way to find something that might not exist, and if you want the music you might have to settle for an audio rip of the anime.
It totally sucks, but almost every anime series for which I really like the music always has unreleased music (including awesome versions of signature themes) :upset:

I would be surprised and disappointed if the vocal version wasn't played in the last episode, it's definitely my fav track off the second ost.

hey guys I need a help with a particular music from soul eater, I looked all over OST 1 and 2 of Soul Eater and wasn't able to find it, I'd like to get some help on this :p
The music i'm talking about is the one that plays almost always when arachne appears, it's a slow paced one, it plays for example on episode 34, around 19:40, when they see arachne in that temple that shows what happened there in the past.
I'd really appreciate some help on this, can't find it anywhere :(

I think that was one of the few songs/sounds that didn't make it to the current osts, and that it isn't anywhere on the internet since there probably wasn't a need to make it any longer than the couple seconds it was used. You'd have to audiorip it somehow.

Old thread by this point, but I've gone over the soundtrack a dozen times, and I can't seem to find the piece of music played when Maka and Soul fight Blair in episode 1, right when Blair gets more serious. It's an orchestral piece mostly with violins. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It’s where Tsubaki ovehears what happened to Soul…and then we see Maka crouched on the floor waiting to hear any news on Soul.
