Personally I do think that the "freshness" of this series has been wavering somewhat with the previous arcs but I won't be stopping any time soon :rolleyes:

Chapter 20
FINALLY! Now this is my type of girl. The new "strong" ane san type girl is beautiful imo and not to mention her unique personality...I mean even Kanu is weak against cute things but here we have someone who hates them. Great! I can't wat to see how Lulu breaks another limb take this girl's lips (and he might be breaking a few ribs too :D).

Lil' Yoko is still as cute as ever...this won't be going well.

The target girl, Kusonoki Kasuga remind me of Sakaki (AzuDa) and Tomoyo (Clannad) put together in one body. I lol'd hard when she glared at the cute kitten playing outside, poor kitty =/

lol i totally forgot that she had similar interests as sakaki. now if only all ats but one bite her/run away from her.

Well, I'll give it another arc, the cool beauty who secretly loves cute things is one of my favorite archetypes. So, I'll see what happens.

well you're not alone, i feel some of your pain :heh: now dont get me wrong i dont plan to drop this, its still enjoyable to a certain extent but after the great start of chapter one i was kinda hoping for more... something like more details to how he gets the girl to fall for him, more events that led to that. it just feels a bit rushed and i want it to be fleshed and built up more...

the between arc chapters are still a win for me :heh: but my favorite arc is still chapter 1...

You give development because the character needs it.

What does Keima need? To interact people in the real world? To fall for a real girl?? Why? Because that's what normal people should do?

Sanity exist through socialization, if you were on an isolated Island with nothing at all, completely by yourself you'll eventually go completely mad. To socialize is to be human, not cause its "normal", hell primative beasts have a form of socialization, even otakus crave socialization. Why else would there be conventions and forums that cater? Some may say things like "I don't like people" blah blah blah, but thats a complete lie. If you really hate people you wouldn't interact with anyone in real life or online, you'll isolate yourself in a cave somewhere making love to a wild dog.

What he needs to learn is emotions. Emotions derive from interactions ( or for some emotions, lack there of ) with people. Experiencing first hand is completely different than reading or watching. He's showing that he's completely void of human emotions.

I personally don't think that Keima lacks emotions at all, well to the gaming world that is. But his opinion of the real world isn't at all that high as he doesn't see people as anything more than parsley. He is the type to keep his feelings to himself though but I do see him learning the lessons of life as he continues with his journey to capture more girls. But the "reset thing" is a bother because to him, capturing those girls mean nothing anymore and perhaps he no longer has "love" in mind rather than a good mental challange. He is still way more interested in the girls in his games so capturing real girls don't really mean anything for him...for now anyways. But I do hope that Elsee will be able to teach him that loving a human is different from a game though it is a bit hard when everything is reset after a successful capture. Hopes lie on Elsee to make him fall in love with her.

My hope is that they soon introduce an evil mastermind character or something. Maybe human, who is setting everything up and eventually goes after Keima or something of that nature. The whole girl of the week thing will get old eventually, so I'm hoping they get to the real storyline sometime soon.

There's nothing to put one captured girl over another in this hypothetical ending. Elsee or nothing, though Elsee's cover story would pose somewhat of a problem. :heh: Or maybe not. :cool:

See that's where I'm thinking they could bring in another girl though, once they introduce the real villian, they can add in more permanent characters. Including possibly an evil female that gets a crush on him or wants to use him, would be funny to see someone trying to manipulate and get HIM instead of the other way around.

IDK, maybe the mangaka will throw someone who had a sex change into the fray.. but then again, Keima's targets have been teenage girls so encountering one who is a trans will pose many issues.

Traps FTW. Just like loli's, they may not necessarily be 'tapped' in real life but its fun to watch them in anime and manga nonetheless.

I think he is actually pretty sensitive to other people feelings. (from his experience in the games?) The way he "captured" those girls shows that and the cake incident with Elsee also shows that. He knows but he just mostly don't care. The reason he don't like real girls is not because he can't communicate with them but rather because he thinks they are not worth his time compared to the "perfect" game girls. He would also not have any problems making a living since he is a genius after all. He could easily create a website dedicated to his dating games and with the reputation he had in the dating game world, it would easily be popular.

They did publish a 2 page short showing the girls he had 'captured' so far after the end of chapter 14, during the library arc. All the girls so far have forgotten the relationship and memories, but they still treat him nicely and break into blushes near him (except the idol).

That short somehow foreshadows that with his 'captures', something will happen eventually, whether the girls may regain some memories or not, we just have to wait and see.

I'm really starting to dig this story a lot more, I figured fairly soon they would move away from the girl of the week arcs and develop a more coherant storyline. Glad to see they are doing so, and so far very pleased with the way things are going.

I concur.

The first chapter had a deep impact on me. I felt the premise was original and interesting. However, I was somewhat disappointed with the get-the-next-girl arcs that followed. But the recent chapters have piped my interests again. I guess all those arcs were essential to build up his would-be harem.

Well it is now obvious with knowing both the fact that there are 60,000 spirits, and he doesn't actually need to use love to capture them, that their plans for capturing spirits could very well change. And if so, then it's very possible that he doesn't need to go around making too many more girls fall in love with him, in which case it would be perfectly expected that the previous girls he has encounted (as well as Hakua most likely) could become a lot more developed, and become potential real love interests.

Also, although I wouldn't entirely count out Elsee, I imagine since she's okay with him making out with other girls that she doesn't have any real romantic feelings for him, and he definitely doesn't for her. But I'm personally shipping Keima X Shiori, mostly because I've always been a fan of the shy purple haired girls, and they almost never seem to "win" in any of the harems they are involved in for some reason (usually the idiotic and violent tsundere seems to).

The resolution for Chihiro was well done although for me the best capture was still Ayumi. I thought it was very romantic that it was Ayumi who initiated the kiss and not Keima.

Still Keima not only realized something but learned something as well, since his target was Chihiro who was similer to him in a diffrent way, but they both shared same aspect, they tried to run away from reality.

And what he told and did for Chihiro would be the same as lying to her and himself, if he denys this.

So the major lesson here, is you can never run from reality, that is one of the things he found out and reason why he was so serious in the end i think, so Im looking forward towards next chapter and see what happens.

I love this series, and pretty much beat feet to read it whenever I can find a translated chapter.

This manga is sooo begging to be turned into an anime.

I can see future troubles with the girls he captured. The sporty girl already showed up and I think the return of the (fake) rich girl would be pretty awesome.
