That's because we normally use missiles to make a fighter go boom, or a fighter goes boom when it hits the ground. You neglect that a pilot can eject, or somehow land a plane riddled with bullet holes.

"Shot down" refers to what happens to the plane/mech, not the pilot. When a pilot is "shot down," that means he loses his plane/mech, not necessarily his life.

I think I may know the solution to your problem. I first noticed this last week, but it seems that there's a much more comprehensive list of screenshots that gets posted in the subsection just below the one that the episodes normally appear in (which is probably why they don't bother reposting it all again). It can be somewhat tricky to find at first, though, since they take a whole bunch of shows and throw all the screenshots into the same thread. Just look out for the thread titles.


In other words, instead of '二次元実況' you want to go to '二次元実況裏'

After that, you're looking for a thread with a description like:

Episode centered around Michel... Not bad. Not bad at all !

It was nice to finally learn something about him other that "I'm da ladies' man and the uber sniper". The episode does a nice job showing us another side of his personnality.

Still, this is this and that is that. He's a cool side-character with decent developpement, but he still remains kind of a asshole in my mind, especially considering the way he treats Klan. I mean, right before the eyecatch he went like :
- Waddya want Klan ? Feeling lonely so you came looking for someone to spend the night with ? Gimme a break, I'd get arrested if I put my hands or that micloned form of yours.

I undestand this is Michel we're talking about, but talk about an insensitive jerk. He totally deserved that slap.

Good news is that the animation didn't suffer as much as previously.

I must say it was an intensed episode as well as one that allows us to see a different perspective of Klan and Michel's other dimension. A different turn compared to the previous episodes.

I was amused at the scene when Klan bitch slapped Michel's Battloid as well as when the VF performing a series of human-like gestures in the convo between Klan and Michel.

The VF-27 is obviously toying with Klan. There were several opportunities it could deliver a death blow to Klan, especially one scene where he held the rifle at point blank range for a full second before it got parried away by Klan. He only finally got serious when Klan almost dealt a bullseye with her cannon.

So I assume he was simply analysing the SMS's combat capability as a secondary objective while his primary was to destroy the ship.

I must say the scene where Michel was pressured to fire the gun with Alto struggling with the VF-27 PLUS an injured Klan floating in the middle as an obstacle was a stressful scene and event for me to watch. Its been a while I experienced this kind of feeling in an anime.

Aw, Klan was so cute this episode. I felt sorry for her when Michel made fun of her miclone body. It must be pretty harsh for her, she's got the hot sexy body of a giant, but a pathetic loli of a miclone. She probably cant even sleep with Michel properly (if they ever get together).
It was cute to see her hide behind the tree at the end too, but her hair was too freaking wide and she didnt even notice.

I've seen it happen before, and it looked so weird and WRONG. But since it was for an awards ceremony, most of the soldiers just took it in stride when the saluting civilian presented the awards/medals to them in person.

I've seen so many Japanese idols/models/cosplayers do their "salutes" in an effort, in my opinion, to look cute. And sigh...I've grown to accept it, but strongly disapprove.

@Mgz: I express my views using my knowledge of the U.S. military, so yeah, if you say they do that in commie-country, then I'll take your word for it!

Anyways, back to the topic of ep 9, I finally watched a raw of it, and must say that yes, Klan is one hot gal! Mikhail and she look great together.

Brera puzzles me, however. Whose side is he on? Was he actually fighting the SMS soldiers or was he toying around with them in an effort to test them? It's clear that when he knew he was outnumbered after Mikhail's shot, he still retreated and blew up that piece of space wreckage that had Vajira eggs in it.

One thing's for sure...he's on his OWN side, and as someone said earlier, may be in some rival company competing with SMS.

What about Grace? Something tells me that woman is up to no good. And who knows? She might be in league with Leon...

You are absolutely right regarding saluting with the left hand. A good example of this is Senator Daniel Inouye D-HI. He lost his right hand in WWII, and subsequently raised his left hand when being sworn in as senator. Of course, people were shocked at first when he did that, but definitely let it go immediately when he said he lost it while serving his country.

In my opinion, the animators did that to make Sheryl look cute while looking good in a flight suit. Plus I'm sure the vast majority of the audience wouldn't care either way!

You're also right about the SMS being a military contractor ('cause the anime states that!). I definitely have no idea what's done inside military contractors, such as Blackwater USA.

As far as the salutes go, Japan is Japan, and the USA is the USA. Each have their different customs and traditions. I had to point this out earlier because I think I reached my breaking point when I saw Sheryl do what she did in this episode.
"GRRR another stupid bimbo or civilian saluting when they're not supposed to. What? They want to look cute while looking good?! Gimme a break!! And not only that, she's doing it with her left hand! What BLASPHEMY!!!"

Its more than just a friendly fire. Michel's sister had an affair with the squad leader. Before the mission, he wanted to call off the affair. Hence the military suspected this being her reason to kill him instead of a mere friendly fire.

I can see the RankaXBrera pairing getting pushed pretty heavily around by the fandom, SherylXAlto fans will want it as well disillusioned Ranka fans. I've seen quite a few confident AltoXRanka fans on forums and blogs give up already, which is rather silly but funny at the same time.

While matching the homages might give a bit of peace of mind, nobody really knows what's going on with them or without them. The best that anyone can do is to try to convince themselves, in order to preserve a bit of their sanity. :heh:

I'd advise that you not to be too forceful about it, though. You never know when you'll need other people's sympathy/condolences later on. I'm almost certain that Ranka won't be shafted in this series based on what we've seen so far; Sheryl's situation is far more precarious. Not to mention that I've got a really bad gut feeling about all this as of late...

I want to know whose arm that is in the next episode preview. I had initially thought it to be Alto, but he's wearing a flight suit, not a dress shirt. Sheryl's serious expression worries me a lot, though, because it seems more a throwback to her earlier days than it does the changes that she went through after spending time with Alto. She's still fairly clumsy with relationships, and there's plenty of room for her to make a misstep, especially given Alto's inherent disdain for fame. The sooner that she can extricate herself from her work persona as an idol, the better I'll feel about this.

I'm almost certain that Ranka won't be shafted in this series based on what we've seen so far; Sheryl's situation is far more precarious. Not to mention that I've got a really bad gut feeling about all this...

The thing is I can see Ranka getting a very good ending in the case of a Sheryl victory (of course this is assuming that Ranka doesn't die in this scenario), a Ranka victory though leaves Sheryl rather static in terms of character growth. I went into more detail on this train of thought in the speculation thread!

Depends on what Kawamori wants to do I guess but it's definitely easier for him to make Ranka have a better losing ending imo. I also think the winner is going to have to give some stuff up. I don't see Sheryl giving up her career for Alto but hey love is one hell of a drug and I guess she can semi retire at the ripe old age of 17. Maybe Grace and Ozma hold the key for the give something up part I think the winner will. Ozma's had deathflags all over him due to who he resembles from the original + his VA. Grace is going to bite off more than she can chew sooner than later with her hacking exploits.

This from a race of giants capable of tearing a VF to bits with their bare hands.

You're forgetting that DYRL is a movie within the series, it may be possible, but there have been no instances that I can think of that involve full humans being macronised. We do know that half zents can be, a la Emelia Jenius in the M7 movie :)

This episode went really smoothly. I liked the pace and the animation is way better. Mikhail is my third fave male character next to Alto and Brera. When he punched Alto in the face like there was no tomorrow, I was surprised Alto's face didn't swell. I thought for sure he'd have bandages all over his face. Why is Alto so weak? He just likes to bark but the womanizer shut him up in the end. I expected he'll go berserk at Mikhail after that punch but.....geez. Just like how I'm wishing for Ranka to grow a backbone, I'm wishing for Alto to grow fangs. The barking just doesn't cut it. Whenever he's being teased, he'll just growl and not do anything. That's why people take advantage of him and continue calling him princess. I'm ranting. I wanted to see him pwn Mikhail atleast once. He got beat up instead..

I've also started to like Klan Klein more in this episode. I thought it was so cute when she was hiding behind the tree in the graveyard. Peeking on Mikhail lol The flashback scene from their childhood is funny. Mikhail looked like a fat happy kid to me. I haven't seen the subs yet, but he'll probably have a different attitude if his sister didn't die.

Even if this episode is all about Mikhail, they still managed to squeeze in Ranka's affairs on the sides. I totally preferred that guitar/harmonica melody of that random guy waaaayyy better than Ranka's 'debut' song. I didn't like it at all. I wish they would give her a better song. It was a let down, plus the fact that the flowery gay promo stand and Ranka's blue outfit just didn't match at all. I feel like the producer is just out to humiliate Ranka. What is wrong with him? Does he even own a company? I'm still out to find a Diamond Crevasse equivalent song from Ranka. I want to hear better songs from her.

Lastly, I hope to see a decent RankaxAlto scene next episode for a change. I miss those two's interaction.:(

About Brera and his showing up.

What's with the fleet anyway? Can't they tell when there's an illegal launch out from their own back yard. The military has gone really sloppy for that to happen.

Anyway, he probably aimed for the reactor of that ship in order to 1 shot it. Which is a comment on the state and quality of the weapons and vehicals used by humans. Peace has pretty much made terrans soft. :uhoh:

KK did pretty well for herself in the beginning of the fight. Classic zent style to close in and overwhelm the opposition with the gattling blaster. Pity she got outclassed by a heavier beam weapon. Her turret arms was what probably saved her in the end by sheilding the cockpit from the attack.

Ya, the QR would probably do well with a combat shield like on a VF. :cool:

I doubt Alto could kick Mikhail's butt in any field but Kabuki. Alto is a good fighter, but he lacks the tactical insight Mikhail has, Alto's recklessness and quick thinking makes up for some, but for now, in combat potential he doesn't hold a candle yet against Mikhail.



Clearly Mikhail has issues, despite caring a lot for Klein, he takes his frustrations out on her.
Klein takes it cause she cares for him as well, but when he steps out of line, she makes it clear to him, like slapping his Valkyre :D

Lots of room for relationship developement, i sure hope to see more of that

Also remember that Michael has those pointy ears wich indicate a partial zentradi heritage (At least if that wasn't disclaimed somewhere). That makes it even more likly that he may be macroniseable.

I wish that Gattai would at least merge with GG, I loved Gattai's encodes and it was nice having soft subbed kareoke as well as subtitles, so that you could get a clean screenshot when needed, without the need for a RAW.

Then again, Gattai's IRC does say they're done as a speedsub group. So, hopefully they'll be joining the ranks as a normal sub group :) That way they can make nicer releases :D

Anyways, back to the storyline - I loved Klein Klan's appearance here, given that she gets to be more than just Mikhail's foil or the bouncy-chested fanservice machine, although I do have to voice a similar complaint regarding the storyline feeling kinda stand-alone, even if the character-development was welcome. Brera may be on his own side, or he and Leon may be part of a third faction, which means that SMS and the NUNS may have traitors working within it, which would explain the latter's relative uselessness, especially if the chief of staff is in the pocket of this third possible faction.

I wonder if Mikhail's little flashback to his sister is a possible parallel situation to future events? The shot here doesn't feel quite like one, at least since failure here wouldn't have caused something similar to happen to him.

Wow. The intro of this episode was probably the most intense twenty seconds this series has had since the first two episodes. It's single-handiedly rekindled my interest in the series after the trainwrecks of these last few episodes, and I've experienced a bit of a pause of my criticism of "Sniper Mecha" simply because a scene like that is only possible with a sniper.

On the other hand, if he wasn't a sniper, he could just fly in their and paste the guy with conventional ordinance. :heh:

Like this episode very much after that trainwreck of the previous episode. Seems that Alto is just all talk and no bite, even Michael showed him with those flurry of punches. Klan is very cute as a child and she can even slap a Valkyrie with ease. Seems that Grace has been snooping around too much and will likely get killed in the future for eavesdropping (or spying). Brera really is a good pilot, but taking on three SMS pilots is impossible in my book.

Well now....ep 9 revealed a whole bunch of things to us.

- Ranka's little green friend, the panty theif, is actually a Vajra. Also, that red dot on its forehead...it's a 3rd eye that blinks at around 16:25.

- Grace is more than just Sheryl's manager. For whatever reason she's familiar enough with NUNS internal issues that she recognizes Michael as the younger brother of Jessica Blanc. Then there's the whole scene of Grace tapping into the Presidential meeting followed by another scene later on of a female voice issuing order to Beara. It's heavily hinted that Grace is related to Beara.

- The theory that Leon is a bad guy who is somehow involved with the development/control of the Vajra is nearly shot down in this episode. It comes damn close to vindicating Leon of the 'traitorous' atmosphere that has been surrounding him from the beginning.

- The VF-27 is equipped with a weapon that can take down a capital class ship.

- Micro/Macro process is shown.

- The Klan-Michael romance side story officially got under way.

- Bobby...the guy can go from GAY --> GAR in a blink of an eye. Truth be told, he's a bit of a surprise character that I never suspected we'd be cheering on way back when the series first started.

- There's finally some movement with Alto's character development....some small steps but at least we have an idea of what direction it's heading.

- I kinda miss the narrative opening that they've had for all the other episodes. Those narrations were great at fleshing out the universe and Macross history. I hope they pick it back up with the next episode.

- I'm really disappointed with how NUNS and the regular military are being depicted. For all intents and purposes they are nothing more than cannon fodder used to make our cast of characters look more like heroes.

I think the episode makes it obvious that Alto has basically run from home and his military career (as everybody could have guessed) was an alternative plan for him. The episode made that crystal clear and I think that actually will help Alto deal with his family the earlier he confronts it.


Also, I spot a lot of Korean and Vietnamese names on the credits and the episode looked beautiful. Who says outsourcing automatically leads to bad animation? It's obviously the good old Macross budget fluctuation. :heh:

PS- Nom Nom basically is a 4chan fad/meme that stemmed from some sort of an image macro. I think it's safe to say it's largely a 4chan thing now.

General Galaxy specializes on stealth variable fighters like the VF-17 and VF-22.

Well we pretty much know that the VF-27 can keep up and may be more maneuverable than a super packed VF-25.

I don't think Alto is better than Klan piloting, he's probably been thinking about how he'd deal with the "foo fighter" if he ever hand to tangle with it again. From the footage the various people from SMS probably recorded it's obviously that he'd need some sort of distraction to get the advantage.

Maybe just me but I thought it was funny that Bersa had to use a phone to answer his call, figured he's have an implant like Grace :P.

As a Vietnamese I am quite proud to see my fellow countrymen help to create this series, and this is the 2nd anime series (after Heroic Age) that has Vietnamese name in the credit section. The animation industry in Vietnam is still in its infant stage so this is a very encouraging sign :D.

Odd, I thought Mikhail idolized his sister to the point where he has a serious nee-sama complex, which was exacerbated by the way she ended up here. The thing is that he and Klein Klan are close, although it seems the types of affection they hold for one another differs in type: she seems to like him a lot, while he likes her as a big/little sister but... well, it feels more like the way Ranka and Alto interact, at least right now. No sparks of mutual romance, and any feelings are currently one-sided.

... and I can already see the doujins with Pixie Squadron being created, with Nene as the uke. Mark my words, someone, somewhere, has probably started drawing this.

It was... good. I understand it was a character building episode but I really wanted to see more plot. I almost felt like it was a fluff episode. There were some great moments in it, sure. However, after the friendly fire incident you knew that the all too predictable redemption was coming at the end of the episode. Ehh. -_-

Don't think Klein is that much older to be honest, in episode Star Date when Alto and Sheryl visit the Macron Mall, they run into Klein Klan when Sheryl starts writing lyrics on the giant panties, The clothing she wears there looks kinda like a school uniform to me. (could also be wishfull thinking afcourse :heh: )

Also the flashback from Klein with her holding a swing with Mikhail on it they seem to be about the same age if you ask me.

As far as VF25 vs VF27 Mikhail sniped off the head of Brera, thats the only reason Brera chose to pull back and take out the nest from long range.

He didnt get his ass handed to him by alto. not convincing at least.

Looking at the picture of giant loli KK and thinking back to her comment to Mikhail in ep7, I'm wondering how it's even possible for anyone to miss a giant the size of a small apartment building :heh: [with big hair to boot]. No wonder she keeps ribbing him on it.

Considering the time scale since the coming of the human-zent hybrids, I'd say that Mikhail may be a 3rd generation [or 1/8 zentradi] with sufficient genetic dilution for male and female children to be born to the parents. It use to be set up that the children have to follow the sex of the zent/melt parent. Could also be why he isn't in macro form, too far removed from the template.

The parents have to be quite young though, like late teens in order to have a 3rd generation in less than 60 years. Who knows, discovering culture and facing extinction has likely made society rather frisky.

I was taking a closer look at the battle sequences and I noticed a few things. First, it sucks that they decided to recycle some of the battle footage from ep 7. Fortunately for us the frequency of reused scenes is nowhere near the level of Macross 7.

Second point, I noticed that they slowed down the transformation scenes. The VFs no longer transform instantaneously, now they take only 1/1000 of a sec to transform. It's quite noticeable when compared to the other episodes.

There's also the transformation scene at 05:13 that has some pretty cool detail. Notice how Alto's gunpod is ejected as his VF transforms into battleroid mode. It literally happens in only a handful of frames, probably no more than a 1/10 of a sec. Impressive that they included that since most audiences would never even notice it.

Lockon Stratos wasn't much of a womaniser. And Yoko Ritona manages to totally avoid being one as well.

Heroic Age had pretty clean and nice animation too and I'm sure there are a few other smaller parts Vietnamese crews have worked on.

Seriously, it feels like Frontier is a multi-national effort with the Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese names all mixed in.

It's a shame that series like Code Geass never seem to drop or reuse footage, but then again it's not a space opera.

in all, this was another character development episode and it's welcomed, however this doesn't stop it being distracting.

Hopefully this will slightly more smoother in animation flow, so that the quality of the animation doesn't keep jumping up & down at every odd episode.

Anchoring itself behind an object for cover is definitely better than floating in open space. Mikhail did fire a few times before without being anchored to any object but since it's their sniper, most of them they would operate from cover (asteroid, friendly ships) such as the KM would.

Notice how Klan took a number of hits without any damage, but sponateously one made her entire suit explode.

Not a pin point barrier like the VF-19 Excalibur but an entire field.

It's actually pretty difficult to see how much damage she takes. From what I am able to tell, she takes a glancing hit to the shoulder early on in the engagement then she loses a foot after blowing up the asteroid. Klan loses one arm first and the another arm spins off when she absorbs the rapid fire volleys from Beara. It happens real quickly, but you can actually see both arms break off in a cloud of debris if you watch the scene in slow motion.

Based on Klan's wreckage, the only thing I couldn't account for was the loss of her left leg. I guess that one can be attributed to when she went boom.

Kudos to the production team for animating the wreckage to reflect the damage Klan took during her fight.

edit - on the topic of how much damage Beara took from Klan, it looks like she didn't land a single shot on him. The closest Klan got to hitting him was when her shot blew up the asteroid. From what we are shown, the best we can say is that Beara took little to no damage from the asteroid blast. So I guess we have to give the princess credit for giving the VF-27 quite a beating.

They say criticism gives room to discussion. This is the only post I found in 8 pages that has more to reply, yet no one does. So I quoted it from page 5. This episode went really smoothly. I liked the pace and the animation is way better. Mikhail is my third fave male character next to Alto and Brera. When he punched Alto in the face like there was no tomorrow, I was surprised Alto's face didn't swell. I thought for sure he'd have bandages all over his face. Why is Alto so weak? He just likes to bark but the womanizer shut him up in the end. I expected he'll go berserk at Mikhail after that punch but.....geez. Just like how I'm wishing for Ranka to grow a backbone, I'm wishing for Alto to grow fangs. The barking just doesn't cut it. Whenever he's being teased, he'll just growl and not do anything. That's why people take advantage of him and continue calling him princess. I'm ranting. I wanted to see him pwn Mikhail atleast once. He got beat up instead..

I've also started to like Klan Klein more in this episode. I thought it was so cute when she was hiding behind the tree in the graveyard. Peeking on Mikhail lol The flashback scene from their childhood is funny. Mikhail looked like a fat happy kid to me. I haven't seen the subs yet, but he'll probably have a different attitude if his sister didn't die.

Even if this episode is all about Mikhail, they still managed to squeeze in Ranka's affairs on the sides. I totally preferred that guitar/harmonica melody of that random guy waaaayyy better than Ranka's 'debut' song. I didn't like it at all. I wish they would give her a better song. It was a let down, plus the fact that the flowery gay promo stand and Ranka's blue outfit just didn't match at all. I feel like the producer is just out to humiliate Ranka. What is wrong with him? Does he even own a company? I'm still out to find a Diamond Crevasse equivalent song from Ranka. I want to hear better songs from her.

Lastly, I hope to see a decent RankaxAlto scene next episode for a change. I miss those two's interaction.:(Well violence does not solve problems, its a good thing Alto doesn't retaliate too much. When you land a fist on someone, you've already lost the argument.

I don't see how Ranka has no backbone. She's working hard towards her goals and she's doing it with her own efforts. You don't see singers selling vegetables or giving out their music on the streets like that, no one would or dare to do such. No one would want to be placed in such embarrassing situations.

He mentioned himself that he already tried the internet and everything about Ranka was hacked and deleted immediately. Have you forgotten that Leon is observing Ranka?

And for the guitarist, like someone else on this thread, Nekki Basara came immediately to my mind. I almost had a heart attack waiting for his face to be revealed. I would go insane if he actually appeared in this show. I'm interested in what he was playing as well, but I'm not comparing it to Ranka's song. If I'm not wrong its the 2nd song in Ranka's single thats coming up, until we hear the full song I don't think its bad or really good.

But he has directly said he has interest in Ranka and in episode 8 cancelled her performance on tv. Watch the parts from between 16:00 -17:00 of episode 8 to see Ranka's disappointment and Leon's conversation with the observers he placed on Ranka.

This is true. Aside from a few Kukuku-moments, he's mostly as a mouth piece for status quo updates. Well, that and he seems to have a hard-on for the Vajra for some reason.

Someone actually mentioned Grace being the culprit behind Ranka's bad run of luck, which isn't any less likely than Leon sabotaging Ranka's efforts. It could easily be that there are two plots against Ranka, three if you want to count whatever the Vajra have in mind for her. Four if Bresra isn't connected to one of the other three.

Leon working to keep Ranka from being famous so that he can dispose of her as need be or make her disappear does have some precedent in real life; a few months ago a celebrity teen mag in Australia noticed that there was no news of Prince Harry and began speculating that he was in Afghanistan. Being a celeb gossip rag, nobody took it seriously.

Then Mike Drudge of the Drudge Report dug up the story, plastered it on his website, drew the attention of the mainstream media, and the MoD was forced to admit that yes, Prince Harry was in Afghanistan, no, nobody knew him as Prince Harry, he was Widow-Six-Seven, a Forward Air Controller, yes he was retrained as an FAC and infantryman and he's out of the country 4 weeks short of finishing his planned deployment thank you very much.

The MoD and Harry have admitted that it would have been so much easier to keep things more under wraps if he weren't so famous or high profile. (And the reason he was yanked out was due to being a bullet magnet...)

I don't see how Ranka has no backbone. She's working hard towards her goals and she's doing it with her own efforts. You don't see singers selling vegetables or giving out their music on the streets like that, no one would or dare to do such. No one would want to be placed in such embarrassing situations.

You just described her as a hardworker. She's optimistic and hardworking. That's what Ranka is, and I totally am for it. When I said I wanted her to have a backbone, I meant for her to be more assertive in dealing with people. Just like in episode 6 when Alto deliberately lied to her and she didn't say anything. Or when she was pushed around by those contestants from Ms. Macross. When she gets aggravated, she should speak up and not put on a puppy dog face. It's not like I hate what she is right now. Well, it's not for certain if Leon has anything to do with the hacking. It's also not confirmed that Leon was behind the cancelling of Ranka's performance. I thought she just had bad luck because Sheryl's show was in her field. As for her not winning Macross because of Leon, it's not really clear if it was really Leon. The possibility IS high, but it doesn't mean that it's really Leon's fault. He could've been whispering other things to the judges when Cathy gave him the evil eye. Plus, Ranka clearly messed up. How can that make her win the contest? The others must have sucked terribly. :|

I agree. She's more likely to be a bait material, honestly, but with Brera in the mix, everything becomes complex.

Oh yeah, I'm in the "Brera&Grace are not in cahoots" camp. First, the woman who gave orders to Brera sounded nothing like Grace. Second, if Grace really were after Ranka, then why is she always with Sheryl? She even came from Galaxy. Unless Sheryl and Ranka are half sisters separated from birth and she's just keeping an eye for any dormant abilities from Sheryl, I don't see enough reason why Grace would be involved with the Vajra.:rolleyes: She prolly has other objectives in mind.

I know that Kuwashima Houko is credited as Canaria and Nanase. But, in that radio com the female voice sounded just like Kuwashima's voice and it isn't unusual for her to dub multiple voices in a single series.

I havent had much time lately but i finally got around to episode 9 which was not too bad. Ranka continues her embarassing acts to get promoted. I really enjoyed the back story on Michale since I like him as a character. I had no idea his past with his sister was so tragic. I am was surprised by he and Alto's altercation their personalties are kind of polar opposites. Looks like we are going to get SherylxAlto time next week.

This directly corresponds to Brera's orders to destroy the new nest and not allowing Frontier to get any samples.

Well if indeed that Sheryl is a Nome or more specifically a decendant of Mao Nome then Sheryl is viewed as a pawn then.

In fact some speculate that Ranka and Sheryl has the same capabilities.

It's actually much simpler than that.

Sheryl is a celebrity. Even had Alto been interested in talking about his date with her, it would still be inconsiderate for him to do so; gossip spreads fairly fast, and it could have an undesired effect on Sheryl's career. In this case, the simplest solution is to just give Ranka a white lie, rather than telling her outright that he can't tell her (which would obviously raise some eyebrows from his present company). If anything, it reflects well on Alto's personality that he's willing to be discrete (I suspect that at least part of this comes from the fact that he comes from a famous family himself; so it makes sense that he knows how to hold his tongue.)

In hindsight, yes, everyone found out eventually, but neither Alto nor Sheryl could have predicted that Galaxy would come under attack. Both of them had thought that their date was going to be one of their last meetings, if not their last. So Alto's actions were appropriate given the information that he had available at the time (don't forget that he doesn't watch the next episode previews like we do). ;)

To put it into perspective, also keep in mind Alto has known Ranka for a far shorter time than he has Nanase, Michael, and Luca. If he's not the type of person to share that sort of information with them, then it's unlikely that he's going to tell Ranka either. Likewise, when you look at how rarely Alto ever shares any information about himself, it shouldn't be surprising that he's tight-lipped about this as well.

I wouldn't say that Ranka lacks the initiative to express herself. After all, she was fairly unambiguous in expressing what she thought of her brother's opinion of her singing career in episode five (Ozma had clearly got the message by the start of the next episode :heh:). Once she loses the comfort that comes with familiarity, though, then she starts to retreat into her shell. So her real challenge is to just be herself regardless of who's watching her.

Yes, I've heard her as The Boss.. and she sounds sexy. She's not Tanaka Rie in terms of 'villianness' voices, but it's a lower voice than her usual Belldandy one.

Wow. Sorry, but I almost think you might not have eyes because even the most mundane scenes were pretty well animated. Almost as good as they came. I can't possibly see how you would think it was the 'worst'. Unless it's because I pointed out the foreign names and they magically makes it the 'worst'. :twitch:

My eyes sure watched the lackluster ragged wooden actings in the episode. Action, movements, motion or whatever. I don't know whether it's because the episode director's laziness not to have issued necessary instructions, the animation director's cutting corners or his/her ability not able to meet the ep director's demand, but it can be hardly said that this animation was top notch except for some close-up shots. I also have something to say about figure, but don't have enough vocabulary to say such delicate things.:sad:

I don't care about foreign names as long as they are good animators. In fact I like Choi Eunyoung at Madhouse or Kim something working on Keroro or Gintama at Sunrise.
