Sogiita Gunha's ability: No specific information is known.
He's one of the few pure "Gemstones" in the world, and also the greatest. No one has a clear understanding of his ability, not even himself. But, he could do the following:
- Create a strange explosion around him that throws away people around him.
- Even if he was shot in the heart or been pierced by an ice pick, he'd just feel prickly pain but would not receive serious damage.
- He can perform physical combat with double the speed of sound.
- Cover his whole body with unknown forcefield.
He also used a projectile-force which he called an "Ama~zing Punch" lol^^.
Not sure if he could deal damage to hitokata-san though n_n

@aman44: That's because there's still no clear explanation of his power. It's not even sure if it's really an ESP ability. It could be something that has relation with the magic side.

According to Misaka Mikoto, it's an ability much like a multi-purpose knife.
The girl who owns the ability is said to be the Queen and the leader of the greatest faction within the Tokiwadai middle school.

Rikou Takitsubo
Member of ITEM. She suffers from brain damage after fighting and being defeated by Teitoku Kakine; as a result, she can no longer use her esper abilities. Her ability was the AIM Stalker (能力追跡, Nouryoku Tsuiseki?, "ability tracker") which she uses to track down the esper. She also states that her ability allowed her to steal other esper's abilities by memorizing their AIM, potentially allowing her to become the eight level 5 esper in Academy City.
6 level 5's has been introduced, only one left...
I wonder she if can read Touma's past memory or it is nullified by his right hand
After reading this, I wonder which side is stronger.

Hmm... so my guess is that Tsuchimikado sent that to Kaori while telling her something that made her wear that for Touma. :p

edit : The missing part can be overlooked. Mostly just the prologue of a volume or an epilogue. But the fighting in the novel is much more awesome though IMO

^Yes, although it doesn't seem to be an ill type of rivalry, just an "I won't give up even if I like/respect you" type of rivalry.
Itsuwa was appointed, as far as I know, as Tōma's bodyguard in volume 16. However, we don't really know if she'll remain as her bodyguard or not.

I got a question for a certain....
Acoodring to wiki, considering she's a a master of Cabbalah Statue art and is able to summon a Golem, is Sherry Cromwell Jewish?
(Is Cabbalh is related to or a mispronunciation of Kabbalah, Jewish Mysticism and the fact Golems are related to Jewish folklore, i thinking that she is. I not surprised the Church of England has an agent from a different religion considering that have Kaori a Catholic and Motoharu an Onmyōdō practitioner.)

Valkryie(think I got it right) controlling the shop owner of a jeans shop in London, to hold down Kaori.
And I don't know enough about the characters in the second-right panel to even be curious.
Barubina is the nun with short hair, supposingly some sort of magical items and potion expert. She sells them as Italian souvenirs and Toma's father is one of her clients. Ridvia is the nun in the background. Both Oriana and Barubina is afraid of Ridvia.
Last question is, how ends MISAKA's body rehabilitation? Or whatever you want to call it.
I suppose it was going on smoothly as she was able to move around quite a lot in Vol. 12.

I think it's better to start where anime left, starting to translate volume 6
/7/8 etc.. because the manga already contains a great part of the beginning, and it would seem rather useless to re-translate the beginning of the volumes. When they finish volume 6 and above, they could consider to translate 1/5, but that's my opinion so far. I'm already happy they started to translate :)

I just saw the ep 21 raws and got a question for all of you Light novel readers.
In episode 21, Motoharu arrives at the Windowless Building, Aleister Secret Lair with the help of... Awaki Musujime! But wait wasn't she suppose to appear in Vol 8 of the novels or she was actually introduces in Vol 6? Furthermore, I thought she knew and join Motoharu's secret gang after Vol 8 or she had already join him?
Also I find it odd that she teleported herself and Motoharu into Aleister lair considering i remember reading some of the posts of this thread that despite being a more powerful Teleporter than Kuroko, she has a fear of teleporting herself since the wall incident when she could have just teleported Motoharu. Please post your answers in spoiler tags.

正体不明 (Counter Stop) - An ability where its details are not clearly known, just like what its name suggests. Some extent of this ability includes giving the power user
a super-human strength and and regeneration capabilities. The ability activates the moment that the power user realizes that she's not a human. Also, it is said that adding certain amount of power to it (exactly how much power needed is unknown) would cause great increase to its range of capabilities. Though, it is not yet clear if this "great increase" mean a devastating power or not.

Well it's quite interesting, a set up volume for many things that will come in next volume of this "War in Britain" Arc.
Wonder if the holy sword Askalon will have a role in recover Touma's memory(It's the legendary sword that St.George use to kill an evil dragon, which is the origin of the dragon breath spell). The pinup color illustrations of this volume is feature that St.George's legend too.
p.s. This volume already release 5days before release date(Around 5 March),It's in my hand now.

Well it's quite interesting, a set up volume for many things that will come in next volume of this "War in Britain" Arc.
Wonder if the holy sword Askalon will have a role in recover Touma's memory(It's the legendary sword that St.George use to kill an evil dragon, which is the origin of the dragon breath spell). The pinup color illustrations of this volume is feature that St.George's legend too.
p.s. This volume already release 5days before release date(Around 5 March),It's in my hand now.
So next volume gonna be magic side again? I was hoping it's going to be esper side next :(. Oh well, as long as we get a new vol ^^.

No, not 12 since it a love-comedy and setup(for vol.13) volume, so they probably covers 7-13.
If things come like that we'll got 5 arcs in season 2.
1.Vol.7 arc -The first debut of Amakusa's style catholic church and also the first conflict with Roman Catholic church too.
2.Vol.8 arc - Kuroko solving a case and return of you know whom.
3.Vol.9-10 arc -The first attempt to attack academy city of RCC.
4.Vol.11 arc - Touma in Italy and another conflict with RCC.
5.Vol.12-13 arc - Climax for the season that consists of many things.

Laura The archbishop of Necessarius declare Index's call up order. Her mission is to associate with British royal family to investigate the bomb incident in Eurotunnel, and that is the beginning for the new misfortune.
Misaka only appears in not so many pages around the beginning,while Itsuwa team up with Touma(along with Sherry cromwell and Oriana Thompson(who is now work for Necessarius)).
p.s. aww can't wait for my beloved archbishop debut in Season 2.

About the level ranking, when i read the japanese article on wiki about index, i see that the level is written in kanji and have the furigana which is katakara for the english word. As example, level six is written in kanji as absolute power and have the furigana read as level six, so what the other power rank mean in kanji ?

I was really relieved when i read on wikipedia that touma cares about index as a sister. If i hate something in harem then it's that the first girl the main protaginst meet is the girl he'll end up with. I really wanna see him pair up with itsuwa, kanzaki or mikoto. Index is too childish, anoying and removing her from the show would be the best thing the author could do :mad:. Does someone know if his relationships with the other girls change in vol.17? So far the author hasn't show romance developpment.

hey that is cruel taking out index in touma's harem well his only luck will be reduced if the author do that but i think it is better if he end up with one of the three girls you mentioned.

I agree with this. I haven't finished vol 17. But from what I read so far, index series is not about romance and I think Touma will keep oblivious to the feeling of the girls around him unless they confessed their feeling for him.
It's funny that he's pretty quick on his feet so to speak when situations call for his quick thinking. But he's oblivious to the girl's feelings, although it's pretty standard for this type of genre. Maybe a brick to the forehead will get their feeling's across quicker then a confession...:)

Actually she found out by accident in Vol 14. In Vol 14, Toma (In Paris) was on the phone with Mikoto(In Tokyo) when Terra of the Left attacks him. His phone gets destroyed in the process but it stills work for Mikoto to listen. When Terra has a talk with Toma, it is through this conversation that Mikoto learns about Toma memories when Terra figures out Toma lost his memories and knows what Imagine Breaker really is, but before he has chance to tell Toma what it is, he gets rescue by Motoharu and Itsuwa.
Mikoto is shocked by this revelations and wants to confirm it from Toma himself when he returns to Academy City. When asked face to face, Toma has no choice but to tell her the truth. She is both angry and sad that he never told her about his memories and the same time realizes she's in love with him all this time without realizing it. With the truth out, she makes him promises if he's ever in danger, he'll call her so she will protect him. (Kinda romantic huh?)

I think Touma met Mikoto first. He knew Mikoto before he met Index.
Index had more impact from the start of the story. First arc is also Index's. But I don't really find Touma ending up with Index appealing either.
Haha, maybe someone should suggest for a "Romance in TaMnI" thread since everyone have their own speculation on who Touma would end up with. As for me, I've already given up romance for the series since the so called "romance" (or the lack of it, as I've said before) in TaMnI is more of a comedy than anything else. :D
Considering the author is making a spinoff focusing on Mikoto, it wouldn't surprise me if she ends up being Touma's main romantic interest in the long run. Of course, it also wouldn't surprise me if Kuroko were to end up in Touma's 'harem'... :D

Well you can't tell it's a fight, it's more like watching a tissue absorbing water, same as toma nullifying mikoto's electric shocks.
Toma vs Styl:
This was interesting to watch and one of the best fights to think if you compare it to the others because styl showed some more bad-ass moves.

to be honest the human skull should give way before even damage concrete gets hit with enough force to impound it with a crater. aka sherry's head should have splattered if he punched her that hard.
considering the number of times they go over and over how touma is normal in every other way, then they go out of there way to show him throwing punches with superhuman destructive power, (I'm not gonna even get into how it should be impossible to reflexively block lighting and junk). It just grates since they go into so much detail yet contradict themselves constantly.

I wont deny that Toma´s fighting style is boring since its always just punch and kick nothing special... I do think he needs too learn some hand to hand combat arts.
considering that it's only his right hand at the moment that is the semi-haxor part of him... well, if he were to get an upgrade, it would be a double-edged sword. I would love to see him be able to create some sort of nullification field (yes, I know that would be extremely h4xx0rz), but that might also mea his misfortune would increase as well
... or does having all those lovely ladies around him cancel the misfortune, minus that he really has no romantic feelings toward them?

Got 2 question, one based on To Aru Majutsu no Index Side Stories Vol2.
Are Toma's parents and Mikoto's parents good friends? Judging from the Vol 8 & 9 illustrations, Mikoto's mom and Toma's mom look like they were good friends. Also in one of stories TAMNI SS Vol2, there appears to be a meeting between Toma's father and Mikoto's father. Can anyone tell what happen in that story?

Well, as the description already pointed it out, Index and Tōma were summoned by the Queen of England to investigate some explosion at the Eurotunnel. Originally, both of them were supposed to go in a sonic jet, but due to what happened to them on volume 11, they decided to wait for the next plane. Only Sphinx took that plane.
On England, Itsuwa heard Tōma was coming; so, she went to the airport with high hopes. Since, he didn't show up she became a bit depressed, and started drinking. Tatemiya saw her drinking (without realised the fool mood she was in), and decided to play prank on her. He told the other Amakusas to tell her Tōma was still coming, and was arriving to her place to pick Sphinx up. Itsuwa panicked after hearing this, since she looked terrible and smelled of alcohol. She saw a silhouette of a man with spiky hair and almost fainted, but when she realised it was Tatemiya she became angry and sent him flying away.
(There was also a part in which Itsuwa was sulking over Kaori cosplaying for Tōma on the previous volume. So, in order to strike back, she started browsing through the Internet and found a "Great Elemental Spirit/peep-maid costume". I'm not sure if this happened before the airplane event, or after. We were also told she's under 18.)
Anyway, back to Index and Tōma, their plane got hijacked, but Tōma managed to stop it. However, Index got almost killed, which caused Tōma to become enraged, to the point in which he had an urge to kill the hijacker.
Anyway, Mikoto and Himegami barely showed up. Oriana Thompson reappeared in this volume, now working for Necessarius.
New characters were introduced:
- The Queen Elizard
- The 3 princesses: Riméa, Carrisa and Villian.
- The witch Smartveri
A new magical organisation called "The New Light" was introduced. This organisation was composed by four girls: Beyloupe, Lessar, Rancis, and Floris.
I'll quote Ken on the rest:
-New spiritual artifacts: The ritual sword Carthena and its replica, the Carthena=second. This artifact gives the owner a power equal to that of an Arch Angel, but only within the soil of England. It also acts as a power-source to send Telesma (Angelic power) to the knights of England.
-"Steel Gloves" which was created to simulate the weapons that Thor, the God of Thunder, used. It gives the holder a great power, physically and magically. Only Beyloupe can use the power to summon thunder, which is a simulation of the popular Mjornir.
-The Skíðblaðnir (Skidhbladhnir) which was used to carry the Carthena=Original.
-The great sword Ascalon which was created to simulate the sword that St. George used to slay the Dragon.
-Battles: Necessarius vs "The new light". First, Oriana&Touma vs Lessar. Then, Itsuwa vs Beyloupe. Then, Floris vs Kanzaki.All of the memebers of "The new light" was lost.
The battles: Itsuwa was kind of pushed by Beyloupe at their first contact ( since she didn't know about the divine artifact Beyloupe had). After the first battle, Beyloupe ran away via the railway, so Itsuwa got some time to think. Now, Itsuwa used a spell that changed the direction of the railway towards the Forbidden training grounds where new members of Necessarius were being tested. The facility was a dangerous labyrinth that was closed because of the many deaths that came from the difficult traps inside the facility. Beyloupe got trapped there, then it was a checkmate for her.
Kaori simply beat the crap out of Floris. Even the "Steel Gloves" was no match against the power of the saint.^^
Touma&Oriana was able to corner Lessar, since they double-teamed against the girl. (Oriana was already a powerful sorceress. Added to it was Touma's street-fight abilities^^). But, before they could capture her, the knights that was sent for coup de tat shot Lessar from the back, to keep her from spilling princess Carrisa's plans. Fortunately, the wound wasn't fatal, and Touma was able to bring her to the Dormitory owned by Necessarius, where he met up with Ursula and co. to heal lessar.

The fact that the Knighthood was using violence to get hold of things got to her, and it reminded her of her lost friend Ellis, who was killed by the Knighthood.
-Coup de tat time: The second princess, Carrisa, raised up a coup de tat against the queen. She got hold of the Knighthood (In the Index world, England was governed by three great forces namely the "Royal Chamber" which was led by the Royalties, the "knighthood" which held the military power all over England, and finally the "Church" which was led by the Necessarius.) and took over the critical points of the country.
- Rimea was hiding in god-knows where, and villian was caught by Carissa and was going to be executed. That was when William Orville (a.k.a. Aqua) came, to help the princess. He now has the great sword Ascalon and his completed escutcheon.
-No harem addition for Touma this time. n_n
-Index was Caught by Carissa.
-The climax would come on the next volume. According to the Author, It's going to be Knights vs Mercenary.

Also even though the real royal family doesn't exist, the famous people would still existed since without them, our current pop culture wouldn't be what it is today. Without the Rolling Stones, their style of rock didn't influence a new generation of rock bands like Black Sabbath, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Billy Idol, Queen and others etc. Without Alex Ferguson, Manchester United wouldn't be Europe's top soccer/football club and a certain player for that club would not become a top soccer/football player, famous model who married a Spicy girl and a hero of the sport.

In one of the pages Accelerator (with wings) is standing over someone who's laying on a large puddle of blood at the middle of a city junction, with onlooking bystander everywhere. Even thought the person body could not be seen, the only thing that can be seen was some claws.

Got 2 question, one based on To Aru Majutsu no Index Side Stories Vol2.
Are Toma's parents and Mikoto's parents good friends? Judging from the Vol 8 & 9 illustrations, Mikoto's mom and Toma's mom look like they were good friends. Also in one of stories TAMNI SS Vol2, there appears to be a meeting between Toma's father and Mikoto's father. Can anyone tell what happen in that story?

For 1st question:
Judging by the Volume 9 Prologue which has been translated, Touma's parents met Mikoto's mom for the first time in that prologue. I guess they became later on in Volume 9 and 10.
And while we are at Mikoto's mom, how old is she anyway? I mean, she is still a university student and ceartanly doesn't look like she is in her 30's @_@

Touma's mother is much younger then his dad. She even commented on how Touma, like his father, has a habit of seducing younger girls (in this case, she was talking about Mikoto).
But what scares me about age of Mikoto's mom is the fact she must have been really young when Mikoto was born. She must have been bellow legal age or else she would have ended her university life in these 14 years, even if she wasted few of those years.

I mean Mikoto's dad need to be jailed for touching a minor. Really if misaka's family are together you can't tell the difference in age from mother and daughters. Well, during the Angel Fall incident, Touma seemed appalled by what he saw as lolicon tendencies from his father, and he also has the attentions of older girls, so I think he's safe there. There are two man to man fight in this volume both happen in the first half
1st battle William Orwell(Aqua) vs Knight Leader : Aqua wins(If anyone can remember the author's keyword "Mercenary vs Knight" in Vol.17. It's referred to this fight(Aqua used to be a mercenary before he join God's right seat) )
2nd battle Touma+Aqua vs second princess Carissa : Carissa kicks their asses(She is really freaking powerful with the true power of the Cathena Original)
The rest of the volume is a full scale war.
Begin with Carissa+her 20 castle assualt troop vs Necessarius+Touma, then continue with 90,000,000 English citizens(who gains the power from queen Elizerd's Cathena second) vs Carissa's troop
Touma destroy the sword Cathena Original in this scuffle.
In the other side Fiamma collect John's pen's external control spiritual equipment from the Buckingham Palace and retreat. He then head to Russia , aiming for Sasha Kreuzhev.
