i'm about to watch it, so i'm bound to be disappointed 'eh? makes me a bit nervous.. uwahh pls don't make it end, pls don't make it end!
it skipped a lot of events, jumping from one after the other. i must say i was disappointed.. i can even barely follow what's happening. it's like a surprise one after the other, it would've been better if the story took it's time and provided a slow and exciting surprise but it was like a bomb exploding after the other. :( i must say though that the artwork for this particular OVA has improved a lot compared with the 2nd semester, especially when it comes to eri's.
my question is:
what happened with harima and eri, yakumo did confess her love for harima but how come eri and harima are no longer considered as a potential couple?? and it hinted that harima was turned down by tenma?? then why at the end harima said to himself that he is angry with himself for not telling what he felt for tenma?
well, re-watched it again and were able to solve my own questions quite.. will wait for the manga to be released so it could fill in the gaps!

I loved the non-stoic Karasuma. I was not expecting that.

Im not quite sure. Did they change the voice actor of Tenma? If yes, i like the old more. :rolleyes:
just saw it and it was pretty funny but it skipped alot (haven't read the manga) so either wait it out till some miracle comes by and release's the episodes for the 3rd semester or i just read the manga :D

Not only did it skipped a massive number of chapters(including my favorite Kyoto arc). As I watched the episode I cant help but feel disjointed because there was literally no transition from the end of season 2 to this one.
Even if it is an OVA, it is still part of the canon story so the lack of transition would bother many of the casual and hardcore fans of the series(im somewhere in the middle).

I gave it a 9 even though they skipped everything but when I watch it my feelings for SR came back like when I first watch first season. To those that did not read the manga I suggest you do not watch it because you will be confuse as hell.
I got a feeling they will announce on the second ova that they will show the rest of the episodes on dvds.

I gave it a 7. As a non-manga person, the events recounted at the beginning of the episode made me wonder what I had missed. Unlike some others I wasn't especially fond of the fight scene, though you do have to give Karasuma a lot of credit. I also thought Konishi Hiroki's remarkable change in his voicing midway through the fight was perhaps the most striking moment of the episode.
The best comedic scene for me was the girls drinking party, but the best single scene was Tenma's describing her feelings about Karasuma's departure to her friends. Every so often in this series Koshimizu Ami has taken advantage of scenes like this one to portray an emotional intelligence in Tenma that's much deeper than she is given credit for. Because Tenma doesn't get to have thoughtful moments as often as the other girls, I always pay attention to Koshimizu's excellent work in these scenes. She makes Tenma a much more sympathetic character for me.
I think the anime producers decided that they want to move on to other things. Saying something is a "final" episode might not always mean that, but I'm guessing there'll be one more SR OVA, and the anime version will end. I don't see anything happening other than perhaps a resolution of Tenma's story, but even that seems doubtful. An obvious ending has Karasuma leaving after giving his blessing to Kenji X Tenma, and Tenma accepting Kenji in Japan over waiting for Karasuma to return. If Karasuma doesn't get on his plane, it looks to me like the story reverts to its trademark unresolved, cyclical pattern. That leaves open the opportunity to release some future episodes.
But the economics of SR just aren't that great. In the DVD Sales (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=60985) thread, episodes of SR-1 are reported as selling about 7,000 units each; Nigakki's figures are less than half that. These OVA episodes are being packaged with the manga. While School Rumble may seem like an enormous franchise to foreign anime viewers like me, its sales in Japan, especially season two's, aren't much better than average.

Gave it a 7. Since this OVA is made for manga readers and not anime fans.
Which will make anime fans disappointed and confused. How and what the hell happened. I also mentioned this in the generic discussion thread that this ova is another ploy or marketing so non manga readers would buy and read the manga. Hoping also for a full season...but alas it's all in the manga.
Artwork some animations seemed rushed, some are quite good. Almost the same quality when the 1st season anime aired. Unlike the 1st OVA which had superb animation imho. Since this ova has animations which seems to look like vectors. Though I loved the ending song, giving air time to the other girls is quite nice and Eri with Harima's hair evolution loled at that.
Overall it's a good ova. Best part of it is the...
Harima VS Karasuma fight. Finally we see Karasuma go down for the count.
I gave it a 7 , cuz the new ending was good.

If "Anime Only" fans see this they'll think there was alot of confusion about the factions namely Harima, Yakumo, Eri, Mikoto(since she's in a wedding dress here), Tenma and Karasuma.
Also when Harima walking at night with Tenma and Karasuma with Yakumo, anime fans will thinking Harima did something stupid again and ended up with Tenma instead of Yakumo who he was with in the beginning of the summaries.
Either way it's a was good OVA. Too bad in Japan since the looney toons end of SR, it only sells average. I dunno what there target is Japan or the U.S. for sales.

Great adaptation nevertheless. Got some Karasuma dialogue, and Harima's and his voice sound different to me now. Perhaps because I havn't heard in so long.

Well here we are again and i was so damn confused it was not funny they skipped so much material but luckily some of you guys filled me in on some of things i was missing. After what like 5 years of school rumble i think my vision of anime has been shattered S2 was sheer disappointment but i want to see it through to the close. the best part about this OVA was the fight dear god did they punish each other but Harima came out on top Karasuma got beat like he was a redheaded step child. Yakumo is still my favorite and who i think is the best match for Harima Tenma still annoys me oh well. heres to a good ending.

Don't worry Karasuma is still strong, his sickness doesn't affect his fighting skills, though Harima gave him a beating, maybe he's not good at taking hits like Harima is? Harima maybe panting and gasping, but his eyes are still alive, unlike Karasuma where you see he's really tired. Also Karasuma is good at dodging and evading, but grounded like what Harima did he's a punching bag.
And yes expect this SROVA to be a comedic drama.
Eri fans will rejoice if the next OVA episode will feature the Harima x Eri scene when Harima was about to revert back to his old delinquent ways, Eri helped him.

well seeing your an "ANIME ONLY" fan I'll say this...watch the 2nd episode of Sangakki OVA and pray that the "ROCKY" chapter of the manga is there. ;)

That OVA was excellent way better then the other few we have seen, yea the animation was good, voice acting great, it had drama but not so much comedy. I think they chose the right or important Mangas to anime but I just HATED how they did that lil summary thing in the begining it watered down the story alot
I'm really disappointed. It felt like a lazy way out of the series and really gave no progression at all.
They might as well put in the intro "Warning: Spoilers" as it basically skipped all the possible character development and went straight for the ending.
I mean, what happened? Ran out of budget or something?

Wouldn't they need more than 20 minutes to show the last remaining chapters. I predict they will skip scenes that got nothing to do with Tenma and will only show Tenma story.

im still holding a grudge over the ending but hey, SR is still SR. loved the animation and the ending song, specially the part of chibi eri and all the looks harima had.

Gave it a 7, in hindsight it I should have given it a 4... Same lazyness as in the end of the manga. They are just throwing way to much story out of the window and at the same time, throwing the watcher in the middle of the action. Still this is imo, the best part of the manga. I just wish they would have given the anime watchers some meat to the bone they threw. This could have been so much better if they would have given this some thought.
I bet the meeting when they planned School Rumble: San Gakki it went something like this;
Producer. Hey I know what will make this sell, lets skip a shitload of storybulding and jump straight to the end, how does that sound to you?
Co Producer. Well... Wont that just leave the anime only watchers terribly confused? Also this combined with the worthless idiotic reset ending just leave the manga readers even more upset?
Producer. Hell no, look here, we will even throw in the op and ed from season one to make them feel at home, such great ideas I have, sometimes I even amaze myself!
Co Producer. Umm, well, hmm, you know, dosent it feel a bit "cheep" in your ears?
Producer. Shut up, im the boss here! Nah, this sounds great, although just change the animation of the ed but keep the song from season 1, ok? Anything else? No? Well lets do this thing. Time is money after all.

Co Producer - Brilliant Idea hope the hype will return, since I heard The Nanoha team would redeem themselves from Striker S by making a Nanoha Movie this year.
Producer - we can't get the hype we want this year damn Clannad so OVA would be enough for the time being.

Holy timeskip, Batman. This OVA had both the best and worst of School Rumble.
The awful pacing goes without saying. A million things have happened between the end of S2 and now, and for us anime-only viewers, we can only piece together what's gone by from the recap and hints we got in this ep. Which makes it very frustrating.
The best: OMG could this really be plot progress? I've always thought School Rumble, as an anime, had massive, massive potential, and the more I've seen of it, the more I become convinced that that it had the potential to be among the best two or three romance anime of all time. The reason is because I think its characters are incredible. In this OVA, Harima is awesome as he always is, and even Karasuma and Tenma show that they're no where near as shallow as sometimes this show tricks us into thinking. If it got some of the other things right, like pacing and plot progression, I really think this could have been one of the all time greats.
If this next OVA is the last we see of School Rumble as an anime, in all honesty, I'd be disappointed. SR has constantly disappointed us over time, but when it has been good, it's been brilliant. Whenever we finally do see the end of School Rumble, I'm willing to bet that it'll be something amazing that'll make us all thankful that we stuck by it. But, right now, it's too early for that, IMO.

1 ) at last!.

The bad about this ova:
1 ) Worst quality ever!... damn cheap producer, even the tv episodes featured better quality.
2 ) Rushing to the end, skipping many episodes.

altho i hate how the anime focuses on Tenma even tho she is the main charachter... The Ova was good wasnt it? They animated the most important few mangas of the series, im a huge Eri fan so I wont say its a 10/10 but its above an 8 atleast they will give SR its proper closure if thats what they are looking for.
Does anyone know if they're going to release a full version of the Tenma/Yakumo version of the ending song?
The Ending of school Rumble absolutely sucked...( in the manga) the last chapter of SR is chap. 283... and thats up to you to find the scanlations.
The OVA was a bit rushed as it like a 2min recap then continuing on the story so it can be confusing I enjoyed since I'm a huge SR fan the graphics are a bit more dark then the other ones so I put 8/10.

I keep hearing about this OVA, but I don't know where to find it. It's not the extra class OVA as listed on Amazon, is it? I assume it hasn't made it outside of Japan yet and I don't know what name to look under for it...
