Actually, it seems that you're right. We all made an enormous mistake by believing I don't know who who ever proclaimed that the movie should be released this winter @.@.
Since we got no new informations, I check my September issue of Megami, which just says that the movie should be released during 2009 (no season specify) and then I checked Moonphase, with the link provided in the first page of the tread, and there we go :

Animating the sound stages would be an interesting project, though I somehow doubt it's one 7arcs would undertake :(. To be able to see the Forwards interacting as well as a ton for development for their characters would be awesome to see. Interestingly, no more 'Mahou Shoujo' Now it's Mahou Senki Lyrical Nanoha, and subtitled "Force".

Mahou Senki translates to 'Magical War Chronicle(s)' Down the StS route we go...

Unfortunately not correct. It's Volume 1 of the Nyantype magazine, probably the bishoujo version of Newtype.

BUT. The serialisation(aka chapter 1) will be carried apparently.

I am hoping that the change of title is not just for show, but also to mark a departure, even a slight one, from the mahou shoujo genre. Still, it seems to me that the franchise is setting a precedent when it comes to follow the journey of a magical girl.

The new art style kind of takes some getting used to IMO. No biggie, since I still regard StS manga art as the best, and that took some getting used to as well.

Which reminds me. Since the movie project is probably going all the way to the setting of StS, it's a probable reason why the 4th season is going manga.

I do like the idea, if the presentation of the StS manga was anything to go by. Now they will have the time to do whatever they want (or need to) properly without being restricted by things like short airtime and limited episodes. No more arguing about the technical stuff like time and frames too, now that the art no longer moves. :rolleyes:

Only downside might be the manga takes longer than anime to reach the audience. =<

It was like saying that, "You start becoming useless when you leave teen years," or something like that. It says that the fourth standalone incarnation of the Nanoha franchise is confirmed as a manga. Nothing about an anime adaptation yet. But it's possible, just look at Macross Frontier.

I am hoping that the change of title is not just for show, but also to mark a departure, even a slight one, from the mahou shoujo genre. Still, it seems to me that the franchise is setting a precedent when it comes to follow the journey of a magical girl.

One of the disappointments earlier on was that the StS manga and Sound Stages did a great job in bridging the gaps in the StrikerS timeline but hardly even referenced in the main story itself.

The New Translation decides to break magical girl postulates and do without the naked transformation, perhaps out of the pragmatic reason of minimizing mana expenditure for the mage? It's finally come to the point where one does not need to mention Magical nor Girl to describe Nanoha, since she is now a noun and a verb, nevermind a nightmare. Nano is also a prefix at that too.

Actually, an alternate take is that incident arises, and these human mages ends up fighting slobs (in broad sense) that can actually knock them down during the incident, and after it's all over, some vanquished big bads go and have tea party at midoriya with nanoha and co.

Well, I don't really miss the ribbon, but in the original serie Nanoha's outfit came out of her mind and her opting for a big flashy red ribbon made the whole thing a bit childish and very girlish : which was alright since she was 9, but made me think at first that I was watching yet another typical magical show targetting kids.
Here with her new battledress, you can tell at first glance that there is more than cat saving plan in the sript ^^".
But when I see RH and Nanoha who is wearing breastplate, I tend to think that they went too far in the evolution ^^"

They decided to emphazise the contrast of Fate's personnality I think : Fate new dress is more loli-type than goth-loli-type. She looks younger and more vulnerable wearing it than in the first season, so here lies the contrast with the fighting-mode Fate who seems to be as determined as ever.
I actually think her new dress is cute... very. It reminds me a lot of the one Alicia is wearing in A's.

That's exactly what it means. Less Nanoha in her casual life, more backstory for Fate.

That seems natural to me. Nanoha lacked the usual development of a magical girl; she was fully committed to her double life and the responsibilities of magic from the beginning. The first season is more Fate's story than Nanoha's in terms of development as a character, even if it is told from Nanoha's point of view.

Issue that some people have had is that StrikerS was not as well executed as it could've been, and that's the greatest stumbling block for StrikerS regarding how Nanoha's growth and presentation of that story. It's really a shame come to think of it...

Hmm, Tamura Yukari and Mizuki Nana are signed with King Records. I'm kind of tired and getting sick, so maybe I'm just confused at seeing Sony and King Records like that, mostly because I'm assuming the new/remix OP/ED will be done under their actual name instead of their respective characters. Songs done under the character's name seem to be able to avoid the whole recording label thing.

Hou = force/power
Tsukai = wielder/user

'Mahou' is 'demon force' - magic, loosely. In 'Demon Cannon Girl' and 'Magical Girl', the 'Ma' doesn't change, but the 'Hou' does. The suggestion being that 'magic' is power that comes from demons (as opposed to Reiryoku (sacred power) and Youryoku (nature spirit power). Then again, the 'you' in 'youkai' and 'youryoku' is also sometimes translated as 'demon' or 'goblin', so... heh.

Anyway - Mahou Tsukai, literally, 'magic user', or 'user of demonic power'. ('Kaze-tsukai' is 'Wind User', but was translated for the Inuyasha series as 'wind witch'.)

It's more something like that.
The novel is part of the ⓒ なのはPoject and was released during October 2005, the fist serie in the other hand started at the end of 2004.

Well the novels were created after the airing of Nanoha S1. This is essentially a retelling of season 1 and its soundstage, and one can see it as the flow of events intended by Tsuzuki.

The prologue of the novels talk about Nanoha and Fate going through mental preparation for their most spectacular fight against each other. In the novels, this fight actually takes place after Precia Testarossa event had concluded and just before Fate was sent to Midchilda.

We go through a summary on Nanoha in chapter 1, Fate for chapter 2, Precia Testarossa for chapter 3, Linis in chapter 4, a report on Precia event by Lindy in chapter 5, the duel between the two girls in chapter 6, then we have the epilogue, titled "Heart to ACE".

However, in this dawn of day, rather, during 3 in the morning, a girl squats, in prim and proper fashion over the supposedly deserted corner of that dojo.

Her attire is rather fitting for a 10 years old, being that of cute twin ponytails, a bright cherry blossom colored T-shirt and adorned with a simple leather string necklace crowned by a red gem.
Although her eyes are sealed shut , she is not asleep. Rather, she is breathing in rhythm with her chest puffed up.
This girl is the second daughter to this family, therefore the youngest of the three siblings.
Although she has not trained in Kendo, she enjoys the intense atmosphere emanating the dojo where her brother and sister has spend countless hours.
As such, whenever when this girl meets insurmountable difficulty, she would spend time in solitude over this place.

After some twenty minutes have passed, the girl slowly opens her tightly shut eyes.
At almost exact moment, the red gem suspended over the girl's neck began to emit a faint glow. This glow is a message delivered to its master that it is time for the girl to go.
The girl replies with a smile, and proceeds to stare directly ahead. That gaze which contains a determined spirit shows no sign of trepidation.

The name of this girl is Takamachi Nanoha.
She is 9 years old.
She is a "mage" that practices Midchildan magic and she wields the staff of mage, the "Raising Heart".

The upturned soil of the depression is starting to yield sprouts of spring.

*opening line of the novels. Based on the information, the time and place should be 2005, and it could well have been Niigata of Niigata prefecture, Higashi-Ku area. This town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niigata_Prefecture) faces Sea of Japan.

The chills of spring are long gone, and the month of May, with some warmth in the air is coming to an end.
In this city, a little distance away from the urban streets, in the sleepy residential area, there exists a private residence with ample ground that houses small Kendo dojo.
Of the five members within the family that resides there, the father, the firstborn son and the eldest daughter practice and hone the kendo arts.
The little dojo exists for the kendo practicioners of this household. This is a place where each morning, sounds of those stepping against the wooden floor, the crisp whisp of wind made with air sliced against the bokken and the noises of impact out of intense sparring can be heard clearly.

However, in this dawn of day, rather, during 3 in the morning, a girl squats, in prim and proper fashion over the supposedly deserted corner of that dojo.

Her attire is rather fitting for a 10 years old, being that of cute twin ponytails, a bright cherry blossom colored T-shirt and adorned with a simple leather string necklace crowned by a red gem.
Although her eyes are sealed shut , she is not asleep. Rather, she is breathing in rhythm with her chest puffed up.
This girl is the second daughter to this family, therefore the youngest of the three siblings.
Although she has not trained in Kendo, she enjoys the intense atmosphere emanating the dojo where her brother and sister has spend countless hours.
As such, whenever when this girl meets insurmountable difficulty, she would spend time in solitude over this place.

After some twenty minutes have passed, the girl slowly opens her tightly shut eyes.
At almost exact moment, the red gem suspended over the girl's neck began to emit a faint glow. This glow is a message delivered to its master that it is time for the girl to go.
The girl replies with a smile, and proceeds to stare directly ahead. That gaze which contains a determined spirit shows no sign of trepidation.

The name of this girl is Takamachi Nanoha.
She is 9 years old.
She is a "mage" that practices Midchildan magic and she wields the staff of mage, the "Raising Heart".




During the same time, over the remains of "Garden of Time", within the mountains of Midchilda

Even in Midchilda, this most prosperous, most advanced place of the dimensional worlds, where skyscrapers spanning from the capital center core touch the skies, undeveloped natural habitats where shades of green exist can still be found.
The mountains of (?) region is one such preserved area. <- I can't for the life of me turn what the hell that's supposed to be to English.
This natural paradise is surrounded by rolling hills, forests and lake. There is an artificial depression nearby this lake.

There was a time when this vast garden, made with Midchildan magic, was capable of dimensional voyages. 4 people inhabited this so called "Garden of Time".

It has been two years since this visitor has set foot on the garden.
The upturned soil of the depression is starting to yield sprouts of spring.
A girl, our visitor makes her visit here just as even began to encroach the area.
Her long, golden hair flanked with two black ribbons that match the same color as her short-sleeved shirts. Although she seems to be around 10 years of age, her delicate limbs and tiny palms would suggest that this girl is younger than she appears.

Those memories inside of Fate find themselves unintentionally awakened.
Those memories of a kind-hearted lady that served as a tutor of magic and a personal caretaker.
Although she had her harsh sides, she was not one to shy from praises upon a job well done.
The name of this lady, Linith, is to Fate, synonymous to warmth.
That great, shattered natural rock happened to be the handiwork of Fate who pierced the thing with the shooting magic taught by Linith. The fallen wood happens to be the very proof of Fate's completion of her trainings after having been taught thunder based magic by Linith.
Fate is reminded of how that Linith could never actually put up the stern appearance of a teacher, and instead radiates that sweet, soft voice and smile.

To having been betrayed by whom one trust most, and to have lost those that one can depend one and to have one's very past denied.
To also have no ability in protecting anything of worth.
To having been arrested by the falsehood of losing everything.

However, this is not everything in its entirety.

Fate slowly opens up her tightly clenched fist.
Over her palm, there is this tiny yellow gem enshrined over a golden pedestal. This item is of vital importance, as if it is a part of her own body and cannot be let go at any moment.
Fate finally understands at that moment of why she, who eschew confrontation wants to have this showdown with that other girl.

Fate then clenches her fist once more.
This is a decision that she has made resolutely and of her own will.
The gem replies to her by radiating some slight heat.
Those eyes that were merely glancing about now gaze straight up over the distant skies, and the mental fog has slowly vanished.



0450, same morning, Seaside park over Uminari.


As the night sky starts to give way to dawn, Yuuno Scrya stares at the clock with a worrisome expression.
Yuuno from Midchilda happens to be Nanoha's friend and her tutor of magic.
The boy of the same age as Nanoha looks much like a girl on a first look despite having cut his light blond hair short. The naive Nanoha seems to like this hairstyle and overall expression however.
He worries most out of anyone about the safety of Nanoha during this match.
This high-speed duel of magic is a potentially life-threatening event even if it is an aerial encounter over open sea.
Yuuno, who is burdened with the responsibilities of having taught Nanoha magic still could not quell his misgivings.

No matter how one puts it, the last encounter was inconclusive only due to external intervension. In retrospect, Yuuno finds that Fate who is so eager to fight and Nanoha who takes on any challange without a blink of an eye too compatible personally.
Yuuno however has come to an understanding that Nanoha is not one that will accept the cautionary note of 'such act is dangerous' when she comes to a decision on any said matter.

In fact, Yuuno was asked to head onto the site of the battle ahead of Nanoha due to her request of needing some 'alone time'.
For Yuuno, he not only has to check if there are obstacles or traps within the area, he also has to cover this entire region with wide-range barrier magic in order to prevent the inhabitants of Earth, ignorant of magic and other worlds, from bearing witness to or from being harmed out of this encounter. Therefore, despite Yuuno having no objection in coming to the spot in advance, there is no way for the boy to let go of the butterflies in his stomach.

After a deep breath, which he has lost count of how many he has taken within the day, Yuuno continues his investigation of the surrounding space around the battlefield.



Over the rooftop of an eight-story building that overlook the part, a Brunette female with long hair stands and looks up at the skies, while clouded with worries.
Her long and slender body actually sports a Canine tail and ears.
This would be a magical familiar borne of Midchildan Magic.
She sees her relationship with her mistress, who gave her the name of "Arf", more important than any other matter and treats it as her source of pride.
Arf is awaiting her mistress, as there is precious little time left until the moment of truth.
Her mistress terminated all telepathic communication with her which supposedly works regardless of the distance.
Arf, worried sick, actually hopes that her mistress cops out of this engagement.
Suddenly, Arf who has high acumen detects the activation of a magical gate.
The cement tiles of the rooftop begins to show a magical circle and the mistress of Arf arrives with the accompaniment of lights.
Fate, her mistress, with her long golden hair flowing about, quietly turns her attention to the familiar and revealing a slight smile.
"I've kept you waiting, Arf."
Arf returns a smile upon seeing her mistress's smile, and feels slightly relieved.
"It seems that the others have arrived."
"It's that so?"
Although Fate disappeared upon stateing that she wanted to be alone before the duel, Arf knows very well where her mistress had gone to.
The only place where memories remain for the two of them resides at that spot afterall.
Having seen Fate regained her vitality and mentality, Arf feels more comfortable, but still cannot shake her feelings of uneasiness.
With proper preparation, Arf is confident that Fate would not lose to just about anyone.
However, the very subject of today's match is a powerful adversorial mage, being one that can continuously bombard the opponent and each of those shots would mean sudden death for the receiver.
Although she is grateful for the kindness of Nanoha towards Fate, and how that the girl gave her all while feeling the pains and the anguish for Fate, Arf is nevertheless mortified just by thinking about that girl, clad in white, is the adversory this time around.
"Where is she?"
"Hasn't arrived yet."
Arf gave a succint response to mask her own concerns.
She should not voice her opposition as no matter what, this is the wish of her mistress.

After this match, Fate will then have to contend with the long struggle of her remaining life.
There is no way around having to fight this match if only to fill her empty and unsure heart for the moment.
This is both the realization and the thoughts of the familiar.



0455, five minutes prior to the agreed time, Nanoha appears in the park.
Although school is not in session on saturday, Nanoha nevertheless is in school uniform, which is a prim and proper attire for Nanoha that is professional.
Nanoha holds a little chitchat with the greeting Yuuno for a minute or two, showing the same smile she usually has and the same attitude that she usually has.
The clock sitting atop a high round column ticks down on the agreed time, second by second.
The second hand makes a revolution, and at the moment that 59 turns 0... Fate seems to phase into this dimension and appears atop the clock.
Her black garb, with bright-red waist belt, along with the fluttering cloak make up Fate's Barrier Jacket.
In her right hand, there is a Battleaxe with a yellow gem socketed in its center as the black Poleaxe glitters.
"Fate-chan..."
The gazing Nanoha calls out Fate's name.
Fate gives no response, and only quietly gazes at Nanoha.
And then, she shifts her eyes away while giving a feint response.
"Thank you for coming."
Nanoha responds with a smile at this clumsy response by Fate.






A vessel is moored high above the park, over the dimensional space. She is the L-class ship Ahthra of the Time-Space Administration Bureau.
Although TSAB has no jurisdiction over those worlds where magic and dimensional space are not known, it nevertheless interferes when alien objects or mages are found on those such worlds.
The Asthra has the battle honor of quelling the "Precia Testarossa Incident" stemming from this world.

Over the monitor room of the Asthra, a young lady that is situated over the console, and a young man dressed in black have their views directed at the large screens simultaneously.
On those screens, the whereabouts of Nanoha and Fate at this moment in time are clearly visible.
"Well Chrono, there's been so many exceptions and exemption clauses used to get authorizations on this case."
Amy Limietta, a chief of communications and aide-de-camp to the Enforcer at the mere age of 16 remarks openly while in uniform. There seems to be little pressure on her at this moment.
"If you mean the case regarding this duel, our Captain gave the authorization herself and I have no qualm with this."
Chrono Harlaown, then young man clad in black, two years younger than Amy replied with some irritation in his voice.
"Even if the Captain had made the call, Enforcer Chrono would've objected had there been issues with it right?"
Chrono is an Enforcer of the Time Space Administration Bureau.
An Enforcer has the authority to investigate incidents and upheld jurisdiction as well as the command of all ground personal involved. Due to the amount of privileges given, an Enforcer is required to possess great knowledge and exceptional judgment.
Although Chrono has only been at his position for three years, but his own keenness, his talents as a mage and his superb tutelage have contributed to his teller performance.
During the Precia Incident, he was knee-deep in action, and assisted in aiding Nanoha's attempt to rescue Fate while wounded while keeping collateral damage from the event to as low as possible.
"Oho, taking it easy when the subjects are that of cuties! It seems that both of them might be to Chrono's liking?"
Amy, who is taunting Chrono with a smiley face has been his friend since the days that they spent in the Bureau Cadet School. For reasons that could've been a protective drive or that it is fun to play with this serious kid, Amy treats Chrono much like a little brother. This attitude has not changed despite the fact that her current assignment places her as Chrono's subordinate.
"We're at work right now Amy. Get back to monitoring the situation would you."
Chrono silently acknowledges the way his friend and subordinate's approach.
For Chrono, the practical man, the little details beyond the mission are not in his mind. It is much less demanding to have his friend treat him this way instead of sticking with protocol and use the proper addresses, and that this allows for easier communication between the two of them.
"Oy, I've been preparing at this for a while. The area sweep and the strength of the barrier have all been checked, even contingency plans upon accident have been catagorized by three levels and there's even 5 approaches done for each of those said levels."
"That is good."
"There you go."
The unique Enforcer and his adjutant turn their attention on the monitors once more.
On the displays, Fate who is quietly glancing over the ground, and Nanoha is putting a camping bag down onto a side of the long bench.

It seems that the moment of the showdown is about to come.
The same visual feeds coming into the monitor rooms are also fed to the large readouts over the Bridge.
Over the Captain's seat and monitoring over the displays is Admiral of the Time-Space Administration Bureau, Lindy Harlaown.
She is the biological mother to Chrono and the Captain of the Asthra.

Precia Testarossa Event concluded roughly one week ago.
Nanoha served with distinction as the one that helped to direct and to solve the incident, while Fate is a class-1 vital witness as she is suspected of being an executor of the incident.
Just before Nanoha is to be recognized and Fate to be transferred back to the Main Branch of the Bureau, Lindy stalled these matters by the use of her perogatives.
The reasonings being that is that the despondant Fate and full of regrets wishes to fight against Nanoha once more.
Knowing where the two girls come from and having the duties of being at command, Lindy allowed for this showdown that the two girls desired.

It goes without saying that the responsibilities that come from the duties of being a L-class vessel Captain are enormous.
However, Lindy realizes that the end of this case isn't the end of it all.
In order to prevent a repeat of similar incident and to alleviate some of the pains associated with those involved, Lindy gave the go-ahead to this duel.

Lindy's true feelings would be that no matter how lonely the one scheming all of this may be, it's all worthwhile if those that are caught in the crossfire of this event can see their pain being soothed, if only just a little.

"... about this."
Lindy mutters. Nanoha is activating her staff, the Raising Heart.
The red gem in Nanoha's palm is pulsating.




"Raising Heart, would you please?"

From Nanoha's palm upheld high, Raising Heart glows and begins to form into the shape of a staff using parts warped in from dimensional space.
In the meantime, Nanoha's white costume dissipates as she switches to another constume.
Nanoha, in white Barrier Jacket and wielding the staff of mages, Raising Heart, assumes combat stance.

Fate, who is quietly observing all of this, lets her cloak flutter about with the winds, and adjusted her pose while lifting her black long Lighting Battleaxe, "Bardiche".
Yuuno and Arf look after them in seclusion.
"Well, let's get started."
Comparing to Nanoha who greets Fate with all smiles and resolute expression, Fate only slightly nods with her head.
"To be able to fight Fate-chan like this would no doubt be for the last time... I will give my all. Let there be no regrets from this!"
Nanoha retracts her smale, and points Raising Heart at Fate using the left hand she's so used to.
"Umm... let's end this..."
Fate stares straight into Nanoha's eyes and replies with that face which hides her emotions.
Would "end" in this case mean to her feelings or to the outcome of this fight?
Even Fate is unsure of that. The only thing for certain is that for anything else to follow, one has to conclude this prior event. There is no beginning without an end.
The only thing that Fate can think of would be that match cut short due to interruption.


"Let's do this, Bardiche."

The Lightning Battleaxe responded with its usual levelled pitch towards its mistress.


Nanoha, in white Barrier Jacket, wielding the Red white and Golden staff of mages.
Fate, in black Barrier Jacket, wielding the Black staff of mages.
Both are born of different worlds at the same year, and born to different circumstances.
Both prodigal mages met due to a certain trigger.
What followed were pitched battles that few present can hardly imagine.
On one side, a gunnery mage known for outright target distances and possessing superb protection.
On the other, a high-speed combat mage that prances around the sky with the speed of lightning and can tear even that of steel.
For both of them, even if they are heading into a risky encounter, their minds are silent yet overflowing.
For Nanoha still somehow recalls, for Fate is experiencing for the first time, that boiling emotion within the calm sea of thought.

Nana-sama is probably most famous for her Nanoha songs on the seiyuu fan side of her music career. She recently performed ETERNAL BLAZE on MUSIC JAPAN and that song is how old? ;P

Yukarin, on the other hand.... Most of her "better songs" are from other things, though Little Wish ~lyrical step~ is a favourite with most of her fans. well, the new manga pics from the site looks interesting... The blog author was commenting that the aces gave off a rather different feeling from their 19 year old selves. They felt a lot more serious and dangerous too.

Yes, whilst a new series would definitely rock...a movie also helps to define a genre as being "movie-worthy." If they make a movie of it then it must be good.

The devices do look awesome.

But I hope to Christ above and Satan below that if they do end up dubbing it...they get some actually competent ones. My ears almost bled during the dub although that could have been from me drying to gouge out my ear-drums.

They also look older than they did in canon so there's a potential chance for more relationship development as I see it. They may be older, hormones are going...voila.

But they'll have to tread a very fine line to please a majority of fans.

I hope there's less fan-service. I like MSLN simple because there isn't as many panty-shots or cleavage-shots as other animes and that makes me respect this anime. There were a few panty shots and that for some reason just made me shake my head.

The most possible explanation would be a deluge caused by the Jewel Seeds, I reckon. Though, if such is the case, I'd like to see how the movie will handle the repurcussions of such a wide scale disaster. Hopefully they will at least have the media report about "the mysterious happenings in Uminari" rather than not even having anyone wonder why their city suddenly became flooded, or why a huge tree suddenly popped out, ravaged the city and then proceed to vanish with only the damage it caused as the sole proof of its occurance.

The official site announced it would be 2009年 before updated.年 means year.so 2009年 means in 2009

Now it is chaned to 2009年度.年度 means school/business year.In Japan,school/business year starts in April and finishes in March.so 2009年度 means between April 2009 and March 2010.orz.

I am honestly hoping for a greater explanation of the nature of Mid-Childan magic. I realise it's a pretty long shot but I've always enjoyed the history of magic within fandoms, seeing how it develops and grows.

Finding out how ID's managed to be created, programmed and have a SI (Synthetic Intelligence) inserted.

Given that the movie probably can't do that I know I'll be disappointed but...*Grumbles*

And I hope to god that if they do dub this...they actually make it believable. >.>

I am hoping to see a lot of character development here.

Does bring up the question of how long the movie itself will be? I know anything beyond two hours is probably not gonna fly but...I can hope. Condensing that much raw awesome into less than two hours will be tricky without fubar.
