You have to be surprised to the parallels of Battlestar Galactica to Macross.

From technological to social evolution.

Just that Macross is way better.

Enemies? Culture Shock them and assimilate them.

Why build a dinky cramp ship when you can build an entire city or country in space.

Servile robots? Never let them evolve beyond juice machines and sweepers.

Well NBSG is definitely AU since I added Battlestar Valkyrie.

Pegasus didn't blow up at New Caprica.

As you can see I managed to put characters from Macross anime, manga and eventually I'll add some drama album characters from Macross Generation.

Admittedly it is a quite a big timeskip from 2047 to 2059 where Macross Frontier happens.

While Macross Frontier deals with the Vajra and Macross Galaxy in my fic Macross 7 deals with the Colonials and Cylons obviously.

Not to mention "She" is back. Probably the greatest mistake the people of Earth ever made. Worse than Cylons will ever be.

Read your prologue, and I figured it's a waste leaving the thread in the Fans Creation section. Macross related fan-fic will have more exposure among its fan and the forum dedicated to them. I'm also hoping more fans who are sitting on their own fan-fic on Macross will be inspired to submit their work here.

Good job with the detail by the way! Reading the prologue made me realize how little I know about Macross and the premises it's based on. :)

As for me I have no plans for a fanfic instead I have one for a blatant Macross homage/parody with me and my friends as characters :D I've thought about it since I first saw SDFM (as Robotech) more than 10 years ago but haven't really worked on it yet. What I have so far are basic designs for four ships (one transforms into a robot, one is sleek and fast and two have BFGs), a working title (AWSM, Alliance of the World Space Military :heh:) and a premise (hostile aliens detected while observing nearby exoplanets with a new space telescope). Just putting these out here for documentation :p

No worries, I know what you mean. It's like they just transport themselves in the fictional universe and be the God character or whatever. In whatever I write I, the author, am still god and inserted characters are tweaked and screwed about as I please.

I'm currently working on something called "The Few and The Proud", which is an AU reimagining of SDF Macross... with the addition of the UN Marine Corps 44th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) & 2 UN Marine Valk squadrons, as well as a custom Marines-only Valk, the VF-1M (which is basically a J with stronger armor and less thrust, and a Ka-bar).

Tough I'm thinking of setting it amidst Frontier instead... how do you make VF-171s more badass? By making them MARINES, that's how. *nods* They'll still die, but they'll die being badass.

I was also going to do an NBSG/SDF Macross cross, where the Cylons eyes would bug out at the sight of Max and Millia, at max Will, with Love, Accel, Focus, dancing through their fire and blowing up everyone.

I don't see how it's unfair, they're only in VF-1J Supers, not their VF-22Ss. :cool: This takes place a short while after the end of SDF Macross but before the Megaroad's launch. They'd also have their friends from the Marines along for the ride...

Lol, figures I wouldn't be the first person to have this idea. :p But I'm moving in a different direction from this though; it's just going to have a few shout outs, but little overt crossovers, and some subtle cameos...

...or not so subtle afterall. :p

The VF-1M is a bit different from the VF/A-3 Strike Eagle that this fella's written. For one thing, it's still a Valkyrie, and it's not written in italics like everything this guy writes (you can tell he's a Battletech player. They italicise everything. Even nicknames). Secondly, unlike this mech, it's basically a modified VF-1J; thrust is sacrified for stronger armor, basically, and it's gotten strengthened joints so that punching Zents is more viable... and also has a modified left forearm that stores a valk-sized Ka-bar. As for parts, it's something like 80-85% compatible with the VF-1J and most valks. Basically I wanted to make a valk variant for the Marines that would be somewhat unique and yet still be part of the VF-1 family, sort of how we have the different F-4 Phantom variants for the USN, USMC and USAF, but all are Phantoms.

He an anime otaku (Likes anime that was made before the space war I) His call sign is Otacon XD He uses a heavily customize VF 4 Lighting which named ( Viper Zero is up to par to most VF in that Macross frontiers era. THESE days? Hell, I remember a few years ago finding a bunch of Macross 7 fanfics...and almost ALL of those were concentrated on getting Basara and Mylene to hook up.

Well, yeah...but a 90%+ proportion that focus on shipping compared to a literal handful that actually feature combat is kinda surprising for a series with as much mecha awesome as MacF.

Well, to be honest. How many romantic stories we have with nothing more than that as a focus? Compare it with the amount of medium-hard science fictions...In short it's easier to write about something you experienced or at least similar than writing about war and technology that (luckily) the advenced contries hardly experienced nowadays(I mean the war). Not to mention it's a fight between giant mechas...something that has hardly a relation with the modern battles. Only someone with the brains and/or serious euthnasm for mechas can write about it.
Now, it's seriously the minority of the fanfiction writers.
And anyways I think most of the fanfictions are more like "dream-acomplishments" than actual serious works.(like those shipping-centered works...although I found few interesting ones amongst them)

Captain Perry as for the commander of Battle Frontier. The often featured bridge bunny did not get a name.


If I would ever wanted to write a crossover fic, it`d be Macross and Star Wars. Although while making Sheryl ( and Ranka ^^ ) a Jedi would be nice, I recoil at the thought of singing Sith Lords. :D

The AVFX-02A Wyvren is based on the VF-5000. It's a multi role fighter just like the VF-25. But it's more versatile, it has more pack options. It's performance is superior than the VF-171 ( and the VF-171EX) but overall inferior than the VF-25. The VF-25 has more power than the AVFX-02A and would generally beat the Wyvren in most fights. Except in the atmosphere where the Wyvren has more agility than the Messiah.

His role ? Well it's not that simple to explain. He's not the only one that ended up in the Macross verse.

With Mikhail, Luca, Ranka and Alto he would be good friends with them. Mikhail is a bit suspicious of the OC because his eyes and behaviour appear far older than his apparent age and his eye look like they have seen a lot of war. Which they have.

Sheryl on the other hand....well they keep slipping in between close friends and antagonists. Sheryl is not really comfortable with the OC because he seems to know a lot about her despite the fact they have never met. And the OC saying "They call you the Galactic Fairy ? You're more like the Queen Bitch of the Universe." in ep 1 didn't help thing either. Not to mention that Sheryl tried to blackmail the OC only for the OC to counter blackmail her.

Ozma and Cathy don't really trust the OC because he feels 'odd' to them.

Early on they use upgraded VF-19s but they late upgraded to the Wyvrens because the VF-19s were obsolete. If I remember correctly the YF-24/VF-25 defeated several VF-19s in it's test.

I also figure the VF-19 was expensive, which is probably why the VF-171s exist.

I'd say sniping is your best bet, perhaps some close range fighting with some Vajra that get split off from the main group, or intercepting Vajra reinforcements before they reach NUNS. Just make sure your snipers aren't using rounds with tracers like Mikhail's seems to have. Other than that NUNS has some difficulty with evasive maneuvers so hopefully those Vajra won't be changing direction toooo much. Even still, it's an asteroid field so you should be able to get relatively close if you have stealth systems to avoid NUNS detecting you. Other than that just keep the engine throttle down so you don't get the considerable exhaust plume like what you get on full throttle.

Actually, a better tactic would be to "hop" from asteroid to asteroid if you want to get closer. Give a tap of the throttle to throw the Valkyrie off of one rock toward another rock, and use inertia to cross the gap with silent running. Or even just push off the rock with the legs or arms in Battroid and climb over the rocks, then you won't need to use the engines at all. Just watch for stray shots and be ready to maneuver if one of the Vajra spot you, but you should have someone covering the guy moving with his own sniper rifle, so if any Vajra gets close to the guy running silent, blam.

From the Macross Conpendium it said that the YF-24 in simulated air combat where 3 prototypes participated, it defeated 12 VF-19s and VF-22s and 6 air-to-air specification QF-4000s. Then, in a simulated attack was devised by the space mobile fleet designating a large-sized space aircraft carrier as the central target, a single fighter folded in and made a direct hit to the bridge of the aircraft carrier with a simulated reaction warhead. As a result, the plan for deployment and adoption of the YF-24 Evolution was approved.

Of course that also implies it has a very accurate fold system, and obviously someone had to spot the Carrier to put a coordinate set on it, not that this was probably an issue in the simulation. Still pretty nifty. I wonder where they get all this info... I do like the VF-25, but I still hesitate at its reliance on a pack, and until the Hybrid pack its lack of anything that was fast and usable in an atmosphere, which left it with very little in the way of ammunition when put in an atmosphere. But yeah, Hybrid seems to fix that. I wonder how many missiles Hybrid adds.

I didn't see any hardpoint mounted missiles on Gilliam's fighter, but it stands to reason it would still have an internal missile bay like the VF-19 and VF-22 had, though with its slimmer profile I suspect it's not as large, maybe two bays in the legs with 12 micro-missiles each. Enough to give it something, or to mount mission-specific packages without using external hardpoints.

Anyway, onto the coilgun (shouldn't that be hybrid coilgun?), I'd have to say a 120mm is probably overkill, possibly ill-suited as the Vajra armor is no joke and you'll want penetration. In fact, given it's a stealth assist, you probably want -excessive- penetration so the round will go straight through the Vajra, limiting the amount of kinetic energy absorbed by the body and making it less apparent that someone is actually shooting them, otherwise NUNS is going to see Vajra getting kicked around like they were humans hit by a .44 Magnum and start realizing that someone is shooting them. Meanwhile a bullet that just tears straight through one might be less obvious, and less likely to leave a bullet lodged in a carcass that might be traced back to you, but that's just my thinking on that and I may be crazy.

So yeah, my suggestion would be a much smaller round for higher penetration, plus the coilgun should be able to zip a smaller round out at higher muzzle velocity, which equates to more bullet speed and therefore a greater attack range for your snipers, and a greater attack range means further from NUNS and should reduce the probability of detection. Just gotta be careful that you don't hit someone behind the target, but they sound elite enough to handle that. You might have to be more accurate with placement though to get a kill, maybe target their internally produced missiles (Vajra do sometimes explode when shot at), or other vital areas (fortunately the big vital area, their stomach, is also the center of mass). Still, Vajra are biological anyway, any shot that goes through their armor will inflict injury and pain, enough of which seems to temporarily stun a Vajra (or maybe that's just when their head explodes).

On the spotter, pretty much yeah, two-man teams, one spots while the other moves ahead. Both have rifles of course.

Might consider a flash suppressor too since it's a hybrid. You are in space though, so there's technically no air to actually feed the fire and it may be unnecessary, I can't confirm that though.

The Wyvren also relies on FAST packs but at least the STS made them fast and usable in both the atmoshpere and in space.

I think at minimum it would have 100+. Maximum would be 200+ like the Armored pack.

I mean it's space so we don't have air resistance to care about, so all you need is power to put that round downrange, so a hybrid coilgun is ideal. Only thing I have to add is that Mikhail's gun put plenty of kinetic force into a Vajra, I mean a body shot flat knocked a Vajra a hundred feet sideways before it exploded, and later we see it knock around red ones pretty effectively. That was only a 55mm gun. 120mm like you're talking would have a NUNS pilot go "Ahh! It's on my tail!" then see it get smacked like a rag doll before promptly exploding, if not outright explode, for no obvious reason. Hopefully you'd just make those Vajra outright explode though, so that doesn't leave much evidence for what happened, only hypotheses like a missile misfire or battle damage causing a catastrophic failure.

Also, you may encounter Machida, who is a badass.

No to the first one. Not really to the second one. More like the Quarter but larger and without the transforming ability on the third one. As for the fourth and fifth one. A few of the OCs have watched the series and are aware about Macross before they ended up in the Macross verse.

It's 65% larger than the Dragunov. It folds itself when not in use to save space. Not usable in fighter mode.

One encounter might not prove anything though, just give information after the fact that could only indicate another force involved. Maybe not much evidence, but subsequent encounters would have SMS more on the alert to look for that sort of thing and investigate if OC starts stealth helping them again.

"Those are the students who will be doing the acrobatic flights for
the opening." Lt. Glass replied, somewhat not liking the tone of the singer.

"Students ? You put part-timers on my concert staff ?"

"They are from our top school of our fleet."

"Tell them not to get in my way when they fly. Of course, the fans won't be looking at anyone except me."

Sheyrl was about to enter her changing room when she heard someone laughing nearby. Her eyes scanned the backstage looking for the source. Her eyes finally rested on blond teenager that was no older than she was. It didn't take a genius to figure out that he was laughing at her.

"What !!?" she furiously asked him

The teenager stopped laughing, taking deep breaths while still trying to hold back his laughter to answer her "They call you the Galactic Fairy ? You're more like the Queen Bitch of the Universe !" he started laughing again as he finished saying his piece.

To say that Sheryl was 'angry' and 'upset' would be an understatement of the century "What... what did you say !!? You're just a part-timer ! What do you know about what goes into making concerts !?"

The teenager finally managed to control his laughter and straigthen himself. Sheryl finally got a good look at his face. The small part of her mind which was not pissed at the moment had to admit, he looked nice. Blond hair, green eyes, strong jaw and a light skin complexion. The only thing that didn't fit was his eyes. They gave off a far older and seasoned aura for some reason. She came back to her sense when the person stepped closer, looked at her in the eye and said

"What ?" Sheryl asked, not understanding what the person said or what language he used. Instead of answering her he turns around and started walking away from her.

desperately tried to block Sheryl's path without actually getting run down by the redfaced girl.

About like an average person, though she has a bit of celebrity style vengeance in her at this stage. Her blog even mentions she fired a stagehand for a reason I forget, though I seem to recall it was somewhat significant yet something someone else might forgive. The tone suggested she regretted it some and that she felt a need to justify it to herself again, like it was a spur of the moment thing.

Some ideas you might get from the post-bunker scene in episode 3. She's rather nonchalant while she levies a rather significant threat apparently at both of them to make sure they don't post anything online that they might have gotten recorded (ahem, wardrobe malfunction, her mention seemed a bit odd when you consider there was no obvious recording device, but she comes from Galaxy so she knows all about implants, and likely has a habit of assuming they're there due to Galaxy's population), which I believe included "I'll literally destroy you, socially as well as biologically." But then we go off into territory of just how serious that threat was. I generally assume she would have followed through to some degree, but ultimately she'd probably never have to in those cases, given who her manager is. I mean Grace can lay the smackdown on military defense computing infrastructures, a paparazzi with dirty pictures isn't going to last long, socially or biologically.

This tiff though isn't worthy of being Graced like that though, but Grace I could see making sure he doesn't work on anymore Sheryl concerts... unless... Well, as you know Grace is rather intrigued by her little emotion index as seen with Ranka. The attack on Galaxy could have been part of this, but anyway my point is Grace would either get rid of him or if she felt he could be used in her plans to get Sheryl more emotive then he might actually stick around.

If she does though, I could see traded barbs. Actually no, I can see it now, the next time she sees him (if she sees him) she'll have her little "Just who the hell do you think I am" smile/smirk on and she'll simply, out of the blue, answer his question from before. She won't say how she remembered and translated it (she got Grace to play it back from her implants and translate it). The concert is going to be a bit different this time around though. I want to combine both the movie version and tv version of the concert. The first song is Universal Bunny, second would be Don't Be Late, third one would be Welcome To My FanClub's Night! and the fourth one would be What 'bout My Star. Alto's accident with Sheryl doesn't happen because the gang had trained harder than they did in the OTL mostly because of Ben. He said something about Sheryl going to underestimate them just because they are still in school and that the look on her face when they prove her wrong would be so worth it.

During the My FanClub's Night! show though Sheryl aimed and shot the heart hologram at Ben while he was flying nearby at full throttle. He didn't see the shot coming ( he was preoccupied with doing his job and wondering if the sniper squad was doing all right ) but his instinct screamed at him that he was going to get hit so he did a Cobra manuever on instinct to dodge the Sheryl's "shot". But I'm not sure what kind of damage that would do to Ben though, especially when he optimized his EX-Gear for an increase in speed and reaction time. Any ideas ?

Oh, and the part where Alto catches a falling Sheryl ? It follows the movie version.

Full throttle to cobra would be pretty hard to manage quickly, he'd have to really whip that EX-Gear from the wings lying parallel to his flight path to perpendicular using the vectored thrust and weight shifting by movement to accomplish it quickly. At that point we're talking about the EX-Gear's body and wings being used as a giant air break while the engines overcome gravity (and thankfully EX-Gear's appear to produce a 1:1 thrust ratio given they hover quite a bit, at least enough to overcome Frontier's 0.75 Gs).

If he manages to pull it off perfectly like that then it's all a factor of the area that's hitting air resistance, which is sadly something a bit behind my expertise to estimate, but I imagine it can't be much more strain than a combat parachute, and the EX-Gear should distribute the Gs pretty evenly across his entire body. He shouldn't suffer much more than maybe being slightly winded from the sudden jerk, he's effectively in a G-suit and even if he decelerated from 150 KPH to 0 KPH in one second that's only slightly more than 4 Gs of deceleration. Rough, but not particularly dangerous. Of course this all depends on just how FAST he's going in an indoor concert hall. The worst scenarios I envision would be if the sudden maneuver caused him to lose control and stall, or if the sudden air pressure stress on the wings caused them to bend or break.

If it's still the civilian unit then I'd say it's of questionable integrity stock, and if he's souped it up and going at full throttle like you said then doing that to those wings could be potentially very bad, since they were likely engineered for the original engine. Of course he might fix that. It's also possible the EX-Gear is over-engineered anyway, as Valkyries are quite often more tolerant of G-forces than the pilots themselves, though this is a civilian unit (presumably). That would be entirely up to you as to if you want to depict any kind of damage to the unit itself. He was going at 210 MPH. He reinforced the wings the rudders and the vernier thrusters to compensate.

That's going to be rough, but heck if it takes him two seconds to decelerate instead of one he halves the G-forces.

Well after Ben did his cobra and resumed flying he started coughing up blood. But sine he was flying in formation he swallowed the blood, although not all of it as a sma;; trickle came out at the side of his mouth. When Sheryl's "MyFanClub's Night" show was over the rest of the team went back behind stage to rest since the next song doesn't have any flying stunts/performers. Mikhail then walked towards Ben to inquiry him about his little cobra stunt when Ben started coughing up blood again. The team was shocked, Alto and Luca grabbed hold of Ben to keep him steady. Mikhail asks whats wrong with Ben, he says that an old wound of his opened up again. Mikhail then says Ben doesn't need to perform on the next run and that he should rest and go to the hospital. But Ben says he won't, he says that he doesn't quit until he gets the job done. And their job isn't done yet. He says he'll be ok and back on his feet after a while. And he brought some medication with him incase this happened.

Maybe if she wanted to manipulate Sheryl in some way, though at that stage in the series she seemed prone to letting Sheryl do her own thing. It depends on what she stands to gain from doing so, though the most I can think of would be if Sheryl made her feel guilty that her shot surprised him and caused him to do that, which caused the wound to open up. Hard to say. She may not show her at all.

What would make her decide to stalk him for a while ? I mean lets say during ep 3 when he was with them inside the shelter he made some vague comment about her past. After that when she was in her hotel room taking a bath and remembering about the ear ring she looked out the window and saw Ben walking down the street heading somewhere even though it was midnight and everyones asleep. Would she decide to stalk him and find some blackmail material ?

More I mean she'd feel bad that what she did could have jeopardized her show. She'd probably be kicking herself for not being very professional. I'd say it'd be pretty clear she'd want her earring back, but she might try to sneak around a bit if he was acting suspicious and she got curious. I don't know if she'd intentionally go off looking for blackmail material, but if she did stumble across it...

I'm thinking she 'stumbles' into the hangar where Ben keeps his Stealth Wyvren. Sheryl would recognize it as the VF that saved her life a while back when the Vajra first attacked.

Anyway, after realizing it's the VF that saved her a while back Ben scares the hell out of her by sneaking in behind her and asks "What are you doing stalking me ?" After calming down she then says how she doesn't like how he's been making subtle hnts about knowing personal things about her that only she knows and has not told anyone else. Like how she hated living on Macross Galaxy. And she says that if he doesn't keep her secret a secret she'll let everyone know about Ben's other job and his mysterious Valkyrie. Ben then raised his right eyebrow, takes out his Macross version of an Ipod and projects the video recording of her sleeping on the Galaxy Starliner and her sleeptalking about strawberry pies. Ben then closes the video hologram projection and says "Theres plenty more where that came from. And between me having a mysterious VF locked away in someplace on somewhere on the Frontier while getting through all the security and you having a habit of sleeptalking about strawberry pies I think we both know which one the press would find more juicier and more believable."

Pretty much. He's basically saying "If you put me down I'm taking you with me. Besides, I've got physical evidence. You don't.". Besides, which one do you think the press would believe more ?

She doesn't know how knows that much about her private life. She only got suspicious of him after he vaguely mentioned about her hating living in Macross Galaxy.

Yes but... why? I mean she wasn't going to reveal anything unless he revealed anything about her personal life anyway. The only way this makes sense is if he has some very specific information involving her private life that would benefit him in some way to use at some point even though it might get out to the public, in which case he'd be able to keep her from coming out with his secret since he could put out all of it. Even still he risks something with her knowing where the hangar is, it wouldn't necessarily just be her word. Even if moved that's going to be a good amount of heavy equipment, it could leave a trail.

Something of an inspiration from the Academy Mode in Triangle Frontier. First attempt to try a Macross fanfic, but here goes. Let me know how it is.

Kinda inspired too from hearing some peeps in other forums asking about other people like Grace in A.M. (Although no one asked about Cathy...)


It's just an ordinary day in the downtown core of Island 1 in the Shibuya District in the weekend. There I was, riding in a BMW K1600GT in a white shirt with a black windbreaker, jeans and military boots on since the artificial weather used right now simulates 15-19 degrees celsius.

It was just a few days after Alto Saotome was taken in by NUNS Army soldiers for his role in fending off some kinda invasion attempt on the Frontier colonies. It was a hot topic that Alto refused to answer any of their questions. I wonder if it's because that hot lady in uniform told him to shut his trap.

Oh well. Not like I'll see her again anytime soon...

Hold on. I could hear a familiar voice after I parked my motorbike on a parking spot next to the sidewalk since I was in the shopping district.

"You alright there?" I took off my motorbike helmet, holding it in my hands to get a good look at the lady who fell down. Then I was shocked to see someone familiar...

"Oh. I remember seeing you back in Mihoshi Academy." The brown-haired lady with a mole said, still on the ground before I came to help her stand up, putting my helmet on the bike seat.

"Yeah. I was near Alto Saotome when you guys took him away." I said while I picked her up.

"I see." The woman said.

"So uh..."

"D-don't worry about me. I just tripped. Probably the sidewalk pavement or something."

"Alright."

I helped the lady up and get her shopping bags from the ground. I can't just leave them there. It would be impolite of me to do that.

"Thank you, Marc Lim. I appreciated that help."

I froze in shock. How the hell did she know my name?

"I bet you're wondering how I know your name huh?" The woman couldn't help, but grin. I'm just wondering if Frontier has some kinda intelligence agency that spies on people like me 24/7. "To be frank, I had to check on the class list of your section, which is how I was able to find Mr. Saotome after the attack on the island."

"Okay..." I was now officially embarrassed by a woman like her, which made me scratched the back of my head. I saw that she was looking at my black buzzcut haircut as well and my East Asian features. "And since you know my name...."

"But of course, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Cathy Glass and I'm with the NUNs."

"P-pleased to meet you." I feel even more embarrassed that I'm talking to a pretty lady like her. She gladly shook hands with me though...

"You never heard of me..."

I shook my head left and right.

"I see." Cathy sighed before she replied. "So now that we're acquainted." Cathy began to speak first. I noted that she was looking at my parked motorbike. "I'm assuming that you're in the shopping district for some alone time..."

"Uh yeah."

"Well, how about I take you to lunch at least, Marc? It's the least for helping me a while ago. So take this as a thank you."

I didn't believe that I was hearing this. Cathy was offering to take me out for lunch.

"I... I don't know what to say, Ms. Glass. I..."

"Please. Just Cathy will do. I insist." I heard Cathy say her nickname. Probably doesn't want to feel old.

"Okay... It's just so hard to say no to a lady."

Cathy just grinned. "Well if you're done making sure your motorbike is locked up and everything..."

"Alright, alright. Don't rush me." I went to keep the motorbike helmet in one of the bike's storage boxes before I walked with Cathy.

Dang! I've just been picked up by a pretty lady.

I'm sure someone from the school would see me like this and would make it gossip.

But hang on.

Was it just me or did I see a man in his late 20s with a ponytail spying on me from a distance or something?

It's probably just me.

"Come on now." Cathy smiled as she handed me some of her shopping bags, making me her baggage handler. "I'll take you to a restaurant I know around here..."

A lone figure began running in the forest. He had a balaclava to cover his face, a beret worn on top and digital camouflage woodland BDUs with a combat vest worn on his chest and combat boots that were not worn out.

"Ha! Ha!"

He ran as hard as his legs could take him, pursued by armed infantry, mobile suits and variable fighters of the United Nation's A-LAWs. His guerrilla unit had almost been wiped out a morning raid. The masked guerrilla had been lucky to get away since he was on a recon patrol. While his G36K assault rifle may have some luck against A-LAWs infantry, the bullets can't damage the mobile suits and the fighters.

"There you are!"

Another armed individual greeted the first one, dressed similarly except that he was armed with an AKMSU assault rifle. He was hiding in a ditch, which was empty of any life except the two masked individuals.

"What happened?"

"Bad, bro. The forward base's been wiped out. And we're among the only ones left alive."

"Good thing I was told by the others to scatter."

A couple of ruck packs were seen near their feet, which contained most of whatever clothes, gear and personal items they can carry.

"So what now?"

"We need to move. Since Mom and Dad were killed for trying to criticize A-LAWs policy, we need to go deeper underground. Our family name's been sullied thanks to their damn propaganda. I don't know how long we can last as guerrillas..."

"Which means we need to get out of the country. Right."

The two began to wear the ruck packs, putting the shoulder straps on. But before they can get out of the trench, they were surrounded by GNX-704T Aheads and GNX-609T GN-XIIIs with their weapons aimed at them. A couple of VF-171 Nightmare Pluses were seen with the mobile suits, already in Battroid mode with their weapons also aimed at the two guerrillas.

"Shit..."

One of the Aheads issued a warning by voicing it on speakers for the two guerrillas to hear.

"This is the A-LAWs. You two are ordered to immediately disarm and surrender. I repeat, you two are ordered to disarm and surrender at once."

"What do we do?"

"How the hell should I know?"

"Do we run?"

"You nuts? We'll be mincemeat in minutes..."

Before the two guerrillas could debate any further, several beam shots were fired to take out the A-LAWs mobile suits and variable fighters. Most of them were destroyed since the pilots thought the area was secured.

"What the?"

The guerrillas couldn't see what was happening, but they saw a mobile suit that was moving at the speed of light. It used a blade-like weapon to take out the variable fighters by slicing one of them in half. The second variable fighter was able to put up a fight by firing its Howard GU-14B gunpod at the unknown mobile suit. Eventually, the second variable fighter was destroyed after the mobile suit got up clsoe and fired several beam shots at its chest.

"Are... are we saved?"

The said mobile suit landed after the A-LAWs mobile suits were destroyed. It had a blue and white finish with some kind of tarpaulin that covered the missing left arm. The guerrillas looked at the mobile suit and noted that its original right eye was destroyed, having a red, glowing red eye as a replacement, which was salvaged from a MSJ-06II-A Tieren Ground Type.

"It looks like it."



A young man of East Asian descent began to wake up, who had been sleeping on top of a unusual red motorcycle with storage boxes on the rear sides and at the back of the bike, which usually earned some interested looks from bystanders. Clad in the uniform of Mihoshi Academy in Macross Frontier's Island 1, the young man watched the artificial sky while lying down.

"Ah, there you are. For a minute there, I almost thought that you were like Sleeping Beauty."

The Asian man woke up and saw a blonde man with pointed ears leaning near his face.

"Don't do that, Mikhail. What if you frickin' kissed me?"

"I think I won't do that, Marc." Mikhail Blanc, Mihoshi Academy student and part-time pilot contractor for the PMC Strategic Military Services or SMS, grinned at him. "Unless if you're a woman."

Marc Liu wanted to give Mikhail the finger, but simply decided to ignore him since school was already over.

"Whatever man, I'm leaving. Good luck with your... side job later or whatever."

"Don't you want to know who's coming?"

"I don't know. Or it's maybe I don't care."

Marc got the motorbike helmet on his lap, flipped down the visor and started the bike. He then drove towards the downtown core of Island 1.



Sheryl Nome, the known pop idol from Macross Galaxy, and Grace O' Conner, a known personality from the same Macross fleet for being Sheryl's manager, had just exited a civilian spacecraft after arriving at the Frontier Spaceport. They had just been escorted by Frontier Spaceport Police (FSP) privately to another area before they directed them to enter a VIP corridor to the main lobby of the spaceport. Two FSP officers followed behind them for security precautions due to Sheryl's celebrity status.

"You must be the DOMS bodyguards we're suppose to meet?" Grace greeted a young man of East Asian descent who waited inside the empty corridor after the doors were opened up by FSP officers, who hid most of his facial features behind a pair of Neo-style shades. He wore a black windbreaker with velcro loops sewed on the jacket's arms, which had patches of various kinds placed on them, alongside jeans and black Adidas GSG 9.2 boots. He also sported a black buzzcut haircut.

"Yes. Marc Liu of the Dana O'Shee Military Service." Marc greeted Grace, who bowed a bit to show courtesy. "I'm assigned to be Ms. Nome's bodyguard while she's in Frontier."

"Do you mind if I ask for some identification?" Grace politely asked. "It's for precaution at least. We've been advised by the FSP and my agency's security chief prior to arrival in Frontier."

"Of course." Marc knew he was being watched by FSP for any sudden moves. So he carefully took his wallet from the rear pocket of his jeans and showed Grace his DOMS ID.

"All right..." Grace used her eye implants to scan the data on Marc's ID, ranging from his name to his date of birth and DOMS ID number. "Okay." The blue-haired woman nodded to Sheryl. "This young man checks out. He's officially your bodyguard in Frontier."

Sheryl smiled at Grace and nodded.

"I assume that Ms. Nome's here for the upcoming concert?" Marc asked Grace, moving ahead as the party floated down towards the other side of the corridor with gravity turned off.

"Yes." Grace replied. "Aside from the concert, she's also due to shoot some commercials with Dex Labs, judge a Miss Macross contest and assist in the preparation to shoot the Birdman movie."

"The upcoming movie shooting huh? Sounds interesting."

"Which is why my agency chose DOMS to be Ms. Nome's bodyguard, given your reputation back in the 21st Century."

"I'll try my best to live up to DOMS' reputation, Ms. Grace."

The party eventually arrived at the end of the corridor with gravity being turned back on. They allowed everyone to get back on the ground, albeit at a slow pace. Marc placed the earpiece on his right ear while watching Grace talking to Sheryl a bit, asking if she should cancel the press conference due to concerns that the pop star may be tired from the jet lag and the fold travel.

"Ready?" Marc faced Sheryl, who had received a transmission that the lobby was all clear.

"Of course I am." Sheryl smirked at Marc. "I'm Sheryl Nome after all."

"Well good to hear." Marc raised an eyebrow before he got the double doors to open, only to be greeted by flashing lights from the cameras of the mediamen (and some women) waiting for Sheryl to appear in the press conference.

Sheryl began to exit the VIP corridor, going to speak to the reporters. The spaceport officers were standing in front of her to prevent any fans from approaching her. Grace and Marc stood behind her, the latter eyeing the lobby to see men in shades, black suits and red ties with black Oxford shoes on.

They're from the Frontier Police Bureau's Presidential Security Division. Marc saw that the PSD officers were also accompanied by a brown-haired woman with a mole on her face. She was wearing standard OMNI officer's uniform with a blue side cap, which was another type of headgear allowed by OMNI aside from the peaked cap.

Unless if I'm mistaken, that's Lieutenant Cathy Glass. Daughter of President Howard Glass. Wonder why she's here?



"May the Father of Understanding guide us."

A black screen. Some names appeared on it, which included Teiwaz, Gaut, Fulla, Freyja and Wōdanaz.

"Let us begin this meeting." boomed the voice of Wōdanaz. "I have been informed that Fairy 9 has made a successful trip to Frontier, Freyja."

"Yes, of course." Freyja replied. "She'll be under the protection of both DOMS and the PSD in the duration of her stay."

"Excellent." Wōdanaz said. "I will assume that things are under control there, Teiwaz?"

"It is, Master." Teiwaz told Wōdanaz. "I've planned things on my end to make sure Fairy 9's concert will not be interrupted."

"That's great!" came the excited voice of Fulla. "Otherwise it would have been just a waste of time." She then giggled at the end.

"It seems that our enemies may be on the move." Gaut spoke up next. "I've confirmed some intelligence reports that they could be trying to make contact with Fairy 9 anytime before and after the concert."

"The thing is we don't know where they are, considering that they've hidden themselves pretty well after the satellite attempt was foiled years ago." Fulla reminded Gaut.

"Fear not." Teiwaz tried to reassure Gaut. "I'll get my men to track down anything unusual regarding Fairy 9 and her presence in the next few days."

"Excellent work, Teiwaz." Wōdanaz's voice boomed next. "Well, if there's nothing else, then we can conclude this meeting for now..."

Wōdanaz stayed silent for a minute before he said "May the Father of Understanding guide us."

"May the Father of Understanding guide us."



Frontier Chief of Staff Leon Mishima stretched from his seat after taking his [=VR=] glasses off, ensuring that the lights are turned on. He sports an all-white uniform jacket (with bluish/purple collars and sleeves) and pants and a black shirt.

"Now things should be interesting with Ms. Nome around."



"On behalf of the Frontier government, I thank you for gracing us with your presence."

The media had some pictures taken of Cathy shaking hands with Sheryl with Grace standing next to her. Marc had just been told via earpiece that DOMS has a van and a couple of sedans ready as escorts.

"Ms. Grace." Marc approached Grace from the back, whispering to her. "We have a vehicle ready for her."

"Thank you." Grace smiled to him before she spoke to Sheryl, telling her that the van is ready for her.

Marc excused himself and went ahead, exiting the spaceport's arrival lobby and waited nearby with some of the Sheryl fans camping outside just to see and greet her. He sighed and wondered if these people need to get a life at all.

Here goes...

A few seconds later, Sheryl stepped out of the arrivals lobby. This made the fanboys shout, yell and jump to get her attention. She simply smiled at them, waved and said her hellos while telling them to watch her concert debut in Frontier.

"INCOMING! WATCH OUT" Marc and the PSD officers heard in their earpiece that someone is coming towards Sheryl with the intent of harming her.

"You murdered Lilith Amagi!"

Marc went to stay in front of Sheryl, seeing a young man ran towards Sheryl. He was a Caucasian in his late 20s with blonde hair, wearing a white shirt and a black vest jacket, jeans and running shoes. He had a cream pie in hand, ready to toss into the pop idol's face. The DOMS contractor didn't know if he had other weapons with him, but he decided to step in and protect Sheryl.

"GET DOWN!" Marc shouted, gripping the man's right hand and twisting it to make him drop the pie. In a few seconds, Marc forced the offender to get on his knees by kicking the back of his legs. Marc was assisted by a couple of FSP officers when they pinned the offender down on the ground, one of them giving Marc his plasticuffs as he cuffed the man's wrists behind his back. The offender was pinned down by the FSP officers, pushing his arms and legs since the blonde man was trying to resist arrest.

"That was quite a handful." Grace whispered. She saw that Sheryl was a bit shocked that she would be accused of "murdering" her friend from her music school days considering Lilith sacrificed her life to save the pop idol's life.

The PSD officers blocked the media and the fans from getting near Sheryl or the arrested offender, the latter being turned over to a couple of uniformed FPB officers after they searched him and found a retractable cutter.

"No comment! No comment!" Grace shouted to the media personnel. Marc assisted Sheryl in leaving the area, escorting her towards the parked gray Luxgen7 MPV and the two black Ford FG G6E sedans. All of them were sporting Japanese-style license plates while having LHD-type configurations. Except for the red motorbike Marc brought with him

"Sheld. Luke." Marc greeted Sheld Foley and Luke Lezerd, two DOMS contractors who had waited for Sheryl to arrive. Like Marc, they didn't wear suits as they opted to wear their usual clothes. Sheld had a blue (and black and white) jacket worn over a white polo shirt and blue shirt with Luke wearing a white coat (with black collars and sleeves) and blue dress shirt.

"I trust things are alright?" Luke asked Marc.

"They are. But we need to hurry."

"Right." Sheld opened the rear passenger door of the Luxgen7 to allow Sheryl and Grace to get in.

"Thank you so much." Grace thanked Marc, who nodded in return. He ran towards the parked motorbike, hopping on and getting the helmet from the rear storage bin. Once Marc wore the helmet, he turned around and saw Luke entered the leading FG G6E sedan and gave him the thumbs up. Marc assumed that Sheld was at the secondary FG G6E sedan.

Let's go.

Marc revved up the bike and gave the thumbs up to Luke before he drove off from the driveway, leading the convoy towards the direction of the downtown core.

Something of an inspiration from the Academy Mode in Triangle Frontier. First attempt to try a Macross fanfic, but here goes. Let me know how it is.

Kinda inspired too from hearing some peeps in other forums asking about other people like Grace in A.M. (Although no one asked about Cathy...)


It's just an ordinary day in the downtown core of Island 1 in the Shibuya District in the weekend. There I was, riding in a BMW K1600GT in a white shirt with a black windbreaker, jeans and military boots on since the artificial weather used right now simulates 15-19 degrees celsius.

It was just a few days after Alto Saotome was taken in by NUNS Army soldiers for his role in fending off some kinda invasion attempt on the Frontier colonies. It was a hot topic that Alto refused to answer any of their questions. I wonder if it's because that hot lady in uniform told him to shut his trap.

Oh well. Not like I'll see her again anytime soon...

Hold on. I could hear a familiar voice after I parked my motorbike on a parking spot next to the sidewalk since I was in the shopping district.

"You alright there?" I took off my motorbike helmet, holding it in my hands to get a good look at the lady who fell down. Then I was shocked to see someone familiar...

"Oh. I remember seeing you back in Mihoshi Academy." The brown-haired lady with a mole said, still on the ground before I came to help her stand up, putting my helmet on the bike seat.

"Yeah. I was near Alto Saotome when you guys took him away." I said while I picked her up.

"I see." The woman said.

"So uh..."

"D-don't worry about me. I just tripped. Probably the sidewalk pavement or something."

"Alright."

I helped the lady up and get her shopping bags from the ground. I can't just leave them there. It would be impolite of me to do that.

"Thank you, Marc Lim. I appreciated that help."

I froze in shock. How the hell did she know my name?

"I bet you're wondering how I know your name huh?" The woman couldn't help, but grin. I'm just wondering if Frontier has some kinda intelligence agency that spies on people like me 24/7. "To be frank, I had to check on the class list of your section, which is how I was able to find Mr. Saotome after the attack on the island."

"Okay..." I was now officially embarrassed by a woman like her, which made me scratched the back of my head. I saw that she was looking at my black buzzcut haircut as well and my East Asian features. "And since you know my name...."

"But of course, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Cathy Glass and I'm with the NUNs."

"P-pleased to meet you." I feel even more embarrassed that I'm talking to a pretty lady like her. She gladly shook hands with me though...

"You never heard of me..."

I shook my head left and right.

"I see." Cathy sighed before she replied. "So now that we're acquainted." Cathy began to speak first. I noted that she was looking at my parked motorbike. "I'm assuming that you're in the shopping district for some alone time..."

"Uh yeah."

"Well, how about I take you to lunch at least, Marc? It's the least for helping me a while ago. So take this as a thank you."

I didn't believe that I was hearing this. Cathy was offering to take me out for lunch.

"I... I don't know what to say, Ms. Glass. I..."

"Please. Just Cathy will do. I insist." I heard Cathy say her nickname. Probably doesn't want to feel old.

"Okay... It's just so hard to say no to a lady."

Cathy just grinned. "Well if you're done making sure your motorbike is locked up and everything..."

"Alright, alright. Don't rush me." I went to keep the motorbike helmet in one of the bike's storage boxes before I walked with Cathy.

Dang! I've just been picked up by a pretty lady.

I'm sure someone from the school would see me like this and would make it gossip.

But hang on.

Was it just me or did I see a man in his late 20s with a ponytail spying on me from a distance or something?

It's probably just me.

"Come on now." Cathy smiled as she handed me some of her shopping bags, making me her baggage handler. "I'll take you to a restaurant I know around here..."

Well, lunch at Nyan Nyan was quite good. Considering that Cathy paid most of the cost, I felt glad that I didn't have to bring out my wallet.

During my time there, Cathy asked how long I was in Frontier and if I had any immediate family connections in the ship. I did tell her that I was from Earth and I immigrated to Frontier at a young age when my older cousin took me in after my folks died. Right now, she's working at a university in the ship as a lecturer.

I did tell her that it felt like an interrogation. She did point out that she needed to ask because she was a bit surprised that I didn't know who Cathy Glass was. All I did was to tell her that I don't pay attention to the news and the papers much since I had... other things in mind.

I met with Nanase during my time in Nyan Nyan and she introduced me to Ranka, a friend of hers working part time to help support herself aside from the payments her big brother towards Ranka's tuition since she goes to St. Maria's, which was an all-girls private high school. It's nice to see different people who can friendly with you is all I can say.

Anyway, I was heading back to my bike since I'm moving to another area in the Shibuya District. And I was about to pass by an alley when I felt someone grabbed my arm and yanked me.

It all went so fast that I didn't have the time to stop and ask whoever tried to grab me.





"Greetings you punk..."

"Now, now. You don't need to hurt him like that Ozma..."

"Shut it, Bobby. I know what I'm doing..."

Whoever the hell grabbed me and shoved me to the wall, that was fricking painful. When I get out of here, I'm getting a lawyer to sue those bastards...

"Listen up and listen good..."

I groggily opened my eyes, closed a while ago due to the impact of being slammed into a brick wall.

"I want to know something from you..."

The guy who grabbed me looked somewhat in his late 20s with a ponytail and has facial hair on his chin and everything. He has Caucasian looks to cover. As for the other one...

Well... For starters, the other guy seems to have some dark skin complexions or something. He looks a bit older than the ponytailed guy. He also had some Afro-like hair and a green headband with a beard. And did he sound like a gay man?

"What were you doing with Cathy back there?"

The hell is this guy? Is he an ex-boyfriend of hers?

"And two, where did you go when she took you around the district?"

I shook my head, feeling the pain of being shoved around to get a good look at those two. I also looked at their jackets and noted the reverse triangle logo with the letter "S" and "M" forming the shape. And then I realized where these two came from.

The Strategic Military Services or SMS. They're one of Frontier's PMCs hired to do military duties for area where the Frontier-stationed NUNs forces can't handle.

"Wait a minute! You two are with the SMS!"

I remember reading some recent news articles with some protestors demanding that the SMS and other security companies leave Frontier because PMCs like them are not seen in a good light. Not like I care about that part, but still...

"Well, aren't you a genius?"

I noted that the ponytailed guy was just glaring at me, raising an eyebrow.

"Ozma... Don't hurt the guy. If you do, he'll get a lawyer to sue us..."

"Quiet, Bobby. I'm not finished asking this guy."

So the ponytailed guy's name is Ozma and the gay-sounding man's Bobby. Interesting.

Least I got something case I wanna sue them for assaulting me.

"What's it to you, Mr. Ozma?" I glared back at Ozma. "You an ex-boyfriend of Ms. Glass?"

Ozma just glared at me even more, gripping my shirt while I was still pinned at the wall.

"Look here you..." Ozma was now fuming mad. "I want you to stay the heck away from her..."

Suddenly, I eyed on the side and saw a couple of Frontier Police Bureau uniformed officers outside the alley shouting.

"Hey you two! What are you doing?!"

"Ozma, let's move..."

"Tch. Right."

The two contractors left by running away towards the other side of the alley, not wanting to be caught.

Damn, that was close.

The FPB officers approached me, asking if I was alright.

I told them that I'm okay. As the officers led me out of the alley, I saw a crowd starting to around outside the alley.

And I swore that I saw Cathy amongst the people in the crowd of all people.

Oh boy, this'll be fun.

I must inform you that the next snippet has a reference to another game franchise. That is all. Oh well, can't fit the robot action yet. Dangit! I promise it'll really come later.


Clad in a white hoodie jacket that had its hood covering most of Marc's head with the shoulder strap of a brown sling bag placed on his right hand, running shoes and jogging pants, he began to conduct parkour maneuvers early in the morning in Frontier after leaving his apartment as part of his morning exercise. It's even nicer that it was in the weekend, which means that he didn't have to worry about school.

The DOMS contractor began to run in the downtown core, ranging from vaulting over stacked boxes left behind in the sidewalk corner to a gap jump over a hole on the sidewalk since there was a lack of safety fences to barricade it. He also did an underbar when he was running in a park to get to another part of the downtown area. It wasn't much, but it's a start

The most exciting thing Marc wanted to do was to do a wall run. To do this, he went to an alley and did a wall run so that he could grab the ledge on top and climb it. Marc continued to do the same thing until he eyed some fire escape stairs leading to the rooftop.

He shrugged and decided to run up, going to the top. While it had a good view, Marc didn't just stop there. He began his parkour trek over the rooftops of Frontier, running and jumping from one rooftop to another until he was adjacent to the hotel where Sheryl was staying until her obligations in Frontier were finished.

Marc stared at the hotel and removed his hood to exposed his hair and head to the elements. He wondered if Sheryl was doing alright.

"I hope Ms. Nome's doing fine."

Shrugging his shoulders, Marc continued his trek. He kept on running and jumping while running towards a building that had a wooden beam hanging on the side.





"Wake up, Sheryl. Today's your concert, remember?"

Sheryl woke up, yawning while telling Grace that she needed to stretch. Now let alone, the pop star stretched her muscles before she went to the balcony of her room in the penthouse, getting a nice view of the downtown core.

"Am I seeing someone familiar?" Sheryl blinked her eyes twice when she swore that she saw Marc looking at another part of the downtown core while standing on the rooftop of an adjacent building in front of the balcony.

"What the?" Sheryl murmured. "It's that bodyguard from DOMS!"

She began to call for Grace to come see her in the balcony. But by the time Grace came, Marc was gone.




Marc was slowly walking on the wooden beam before he slowly crouched on the beam. He had been taught by good mentors to not lose concentration while doing this, otherwise he would have fallen to his death. The East Asian teen sighed and concentrated.

"So the A-LAWs are in force once again." Marc swore that he saw an A-LAWs chopper was coming to approach him from the west. He didn't have any time to waste. So he jumped from the beam, arms wide open as Marc began to fall towards the ground.

By coincidence, he fell in a pile of hay in a parked truck. Since not much people was around in the morning, this allowed Marc to get away from public scrutiny in case someone was starting to ask question on why Marc was getting out from a pile of hay.





"Are you sure you saw that nice young man out there?"

Grace asked Sheryl if she saw Marc doing parker moves on the rooftop in Frontier.

"Of course I did!" Sheryl shouted. "You think I was joking? I swore that I saw him jump..."

Grace sighed. "Well I don't see him anymore. Right now, you better get ready for the concert in the afternoon, Sheryl."

Poor girl. She's still tired that she's probably hallucinating or something.

I had just given my statement to the FPB officers regarding the incident back at the alley with "Ozma" and "Bobby". They promised to get something from SMS and they asked if I would consider pressing charges.

I did contemplate on that for a few minutes before I told the officers that I would for now. One of them asked me if I can leave a contact number in case things would change. I gave him my mobile number before I departed on my motorbike.

I thought I saw Cathy in the crowd. She must have left.

Oh well. Back to the apartment anyway. It's almost dinner with my cousin.





Aside from having a potential earful from my cousin when I got home (She saw in the news and I was on TV), I ate my usual dinner and went to sleep after 9 PM in my room since I planned to go out and exercise. She got really angry when she found out that I got involved with those SMS guys. Good thing I told her that I was harassed by them and I wasn't the one who started it.

Scolding and cleaning myself aside, I was only asleep for only a few minutes when I got a text message from Alto, asking me what had happened.

"Dammit. Am I a celebrity?"

I gave Alto a SMS message, promising him that I'll tell him the story when I'm in the mood aka after I sleep.

I just went back to sleep when my phone got another message.

This time, it was from an unkonwn person.

"I wonder who could it be?"

I opened up the SMS, sighing as I hoped to get this over with.

I was surprised to see the other person who gave me another SMS message.

"What? All this state-of-the-art military hardware and all you do is peep in on girls like common voyeurs?"

"Thats pretty nice coming from someone who does Yuri scenes on her own concert." Ben said, not taking his eyes off the road.

Her head whipped back to face him, "Yuri?! Why-" He spared a glance from the road to her as she stammered. She was caught by surprise by his blatant accusation, her face, at first blushing fiercely, contorted to a scowl while he looked at her. Ben straightened his face, sensing he might have let slip a smirk. "Look," she started again as she crossed her arms, "That's purely professional and it's all holograms and mirrors anyway. It's just all part of the script for the two bunnies to both be played by me, it's important."

"Why? So you can french kiss yourself?"

Sheryl cast her gaze back to the road, nose cast upward, "You're completely missing the point, it's a metaphor for two sides of the same personality."

"I get that," Ben replied, "But you know it's a little hard for people to appreciate the message when everyone is too distracted by the Sheryl on Sheryl foreplay. I mean, seriously, how do you come up with this?"

Sheryl shrugged, her tone softened, "Some of it actually wasn't my idea."

"Ah, and there's the truth," Ben said, sparing another glance to her, noticing her head was tilted down now, "It's all just pure marketing."

"It is marketing," Sheryl said as she directed her voice at him, and it carried in the relatively small cabin, "I'm a professional entertainer, and I won't get anywhere if I don't keep a finger on the galaxy's pulse to see what people like."

"All that and all you've figured out is the age-old adage that sex sells. How far are you willing to go with that? Are you going to keep pushing that line? Just another step further in the next concert? The next music vid? You know I've seen a lot of them, and you already have some stuff that borders on a full-blown striptease."

The tone of her voice hinted at another blush. "I never show everything."

"Not yet anyway, just copious amounts of skin, your ass, and how much lust you seem to have for yourself," Ben let that sink in a moment before he went on, "Some professional you are with that high class sense of morality."

She was silent for a long moment though Ben felt his nerves suddenly go on edge. This was not a silence of remorse, but a silence of rage. "And what about you?" she asked him coldly, "I'm guessing by that Valkyrie and the look in your eyes that you're a professional soldier, and that means what you do is a lot of killing."

Ben slammed the brakes, causing the Camaro to shudder and wheels to stutter while the anti-lock brakes struggled to keep traction. Ben fiercely whipped his head around to face Sheryl as she straightened herself out from the sudden stop. Ben silently glared at her, somewhat angry being accused of being a heartless killer. Sheryl, although was slightly surprised by Ben's reaction did not back down from his glare.

Ben narrowed his eyes at her. He refused to be the first to back down, but he could read in her eyes that she was just as stubborn. Fortunately there was an out. "We're here," Ben said.

"What?" Sheryl broke the stare to look around. The entrance to her hotel was barely half a block further down the street. "You're going to let me off here?"

"There could be paparazzi," Ben said, finding it a reasonable excuse, "Do you want people to see you coming back to your hotel late at night in a strange man's car?"

Sheryl tapped her chin a moment in thought. "No, I suppose not," she pulled down the visor mirror and checked her hair in the dim streetlights before she at last unbuckled, opened the door and stepped out of the car, Ben watching her the entire time, closely, and with a frown. Despite the entire tone of the conversation, Sheryl nevertheless stuck her head in under the doorway to give him one of her unusually bright smiles, "Thanks for driving me back, Ben."

Ben fought a quick mental battle to keep that smile from disarming his frown. "Sure," he said flatly. With his answer she closed the door, then moved quickly to the sidewalk while Ben made his departure.
