I saw some time ago in EGM that they were making Hajime no Ippo for PS2. From what I read it sounded like it was going to be alot like Mike Tyson's Punchout (NES) or Super Punchout (SNES), and those are two of my all time favorite games (especially Mike Tyson). Has anyone tried it yet, or know if it even came out?
I have never imported a game before, but if it compares to those two classics I'll definatly start with this one.
Yeah. Its pretty cool.
I picked it up 'bout 2 months ago and loved it. It takes a good deal of practicing to be really good tho. This isnt just a quick cash in and it shows. If your an Ippo fan and want to recreate the scenes in the manga/anime in your own way you'll have a blast.

Cool! Do you know if the comparison to the Punch-out games is accurate or not? Or is it more like ready to rumble or ring kings (the one by EA, not sure what it's called)
Ah.....I havent played punch out in a while so I cant remember......and havent played the other you mentioned at all. Sorry....
It really can't be compared to Punch Out because its a 3rd person game. The Ippo game takes a little time to get used to coz the control can give newbies trouble. But by playing constantly, you'll be Gazel punching and Demsey rolling in no time. I kinda picked up this game late coz I only heard about it recently. It was $20 at EB and was the last copy at that store. All I can say is get and support the game if u like Ippo that much coz I do. Go Ippo!!!!

Wait, you live in New Jersey. And at least around here in Washington none of the EB carry imports. Does that mean that it's licensed here?! I know the anime is but if the game was too that would be sweet and I'd start tracking it down now! :D
