The purpose of this thread is to allow free discussion of theories and speculation of the FMP anime series, but be warned since it may contain unmarked spoilers. Having a central location may help focus the discussion instead of spreading speculation over the various episode discussion threads.
Acceptable post topics
Personal theories, speculation, guesses and such. No spoiler tags required.
Posting magazine previews (such as from Animage). Spoiler tags required.
Any form of spoiler from the FMP novels or manga. Clearly marked Spoiler tags required.
Please make sure you use spoiler tags as indicated above! Also provide where the source of such speculation come from if at all possible (i.e. "Animeage" or "Manga") and identify the spoiler tag with the use of the subject title (see the paragraph below how to do this). A friend of mine told me at the end of FMP its likely that either Sousuke or kaname die. Do you guys agree with this statement

i asked for a thread where i can talk about "will either Sousuke or kaname die" and this thread was created and i was asked to post here

i was discussing FMP with HunterSeeker, the user who posted some of the novel summarys. He says that the way it is moving its unlikely there will be a happy ending
As it's constructed now, this thread is absolutely pointless. It's impossible to have a discussion that centers on the speculation of character death without referring to the novels because as the anime currently stands, there is no indication that it will:
A) be continued and
B) that one or both of the primary characters (Sousuke and Kaname) will die at any point following the televised conclusion.
Unless the mods are willing to allow discussion of the novels they might as well shut this thread down now. Unless of course this thread is designed for us to delve into the realm of fan fiction...?

Let's hope the new novel can give a twist whether he survives or not. But most likely not, since the next upcoming one may be the last book. The climax is already here with Kaname already turning into the real antagonist since she's actually the Whisperer and Leonard calling her 'Queen'. :D
I think whatever happens with the Whispered will undo everything that has been done up until this point. So yes, while Kurz is dead in the interim, before the series is over he will be alive and well and bugging the heck out of Mao all over again.

That's in case IF they reset the world. And by how much they'll reset it?
If that's a whole without Whispered, then Mithril and Amalgam won't even exist AT ALL. They may still be formed, but probably with different nature that may never come across with each other.
If that's a world without BT, then the trio won't be fighting in AS at all since its existance will be erased together with other BT stuff (including TDD if it matters).
If they tune the world to a state without BT after the final battle, Kurtz's death will remain as an occured event.

What will be of the characters of the series without BT and the whispered?
I think if they reset the world there is no reason for the characters to have met in the first place. So I imagine a cliche ending with sagara being transfered to school and beginnig the story all over again without bad guys.... it will be a bad ending.
I really like dramatic ending, where no victory comes without a sacrifice.

well then how and why did sousuke get placed in helmajistan if there is no BT.
because that's where he started, per se.
He got found by Kalinin after a plane with Japanese people crashed in Siberia or something, was sent to kill some Afghan dude (the soviet-afghan war would have happened even w/out BT), and then ended up getting captured and turned into a guerrilla.
So if there was no BT he'd still be in Afghanistan (oops it's actually Helmajistan)

Totally true.
But its was BT that led Sousuke to mithril (it shouldn`t even exist without BT) and Chidori. So without it there shouldn`t be a reason for him to go there, except some cliche ending or some bad reset and thats is what i fear the most about this series.
The afghan-soviet war happened without BT, but due to BT the russians won it. So, it could happen that without BT, sousuke stayed as a guerrila soldier in Afghanistan, a Muhjaidin. Or maybe he could became a terrorist.
...And then died in the 2002 US attack on the Taliban.
So I wonder what kind of magic they'll use to make it (the plot) work?

You get the point. Thats why I pray for an ending where the FMP universe remains the same. I cant imagine a good ending on my own that can fullfill in a satisfactory way all the lose ends.
In any case if the ending is very well done, then I guess its ok too.

Long time reader here. First time poster. I mostly come to these forums for FMP stuff. I absolutely love this series.
I have a question about something that happened in the last novels.
Kaname insists she does not need a body guard because she does not hear whispers anymore and is thus useless for Black Technology information.
Yet, Admiral Borda asked Tessa if she'd like to make a TDD-2. Tessa denied, yes. But my question is have EVERYTHING the whispered learned through "whispers" disappeared from their knowledge? Or are they merely not able to gain any more Black Technology knowledge?
I'd assume that, like Tessa for instance, they'd still have all that Black Technology knowledge within them. Otherwise she wouldn't be able to make a TDD-2 if she wanted to.
Yet Kaname said she'd be useless to any organizations that plan to acquire any(more) Black Technology knowledge.
I'm just a little confused here. I was wondering if anyone might have some insight into this.

The difference between the two girls is very simple, Kaname is a normal girl, whereas Tessa is a genius. Tessa (and Leonard) was able to understand and assimilate the black technology, Kaname wasn't able to do that so everything the whisper has said to her are lost (probably not everything but most of it).

Yeah, I really don't know about that. I mean Tessa seems to be able to access Black Technology more easily than Kaname, which is something I've always wondered about. But I don't remember them ever explaining why.
Or heck, the fact that Kaname's math and science scores didn't shoot up until more recently.
Although I do remember that Tessa said the conditions have to be just right for whispereds to access Black Technology.
In either case, Kaname drew up the designs for the Fairy's Feather. For some reason, she is not like Tessa, yes. So does this mean if someone was to force her to try building a Fairy's Feather that she'd be unable to?

Kaname didn't make the Fairy Eye or Fairy Feather did she? I thought it was Miller, the girl that Souske rescued from Russia at the beginning of the first book, who did those along with building the Laevatein.

Kaname made the plans for the Fairy's Feather. Miller/Mira supervised the construction.
Mithril's R&D Department or Geotron Electronics made the Fairy Eye but I'm not so sure about this one.

Fairy's Eye was created by Kaname. In the 3rd novel, during the scene where Tessa pulls Kaname aside and talks to her about being Whispered, Tessa handed Kaname a notebook and pen while they were conversing. She started out doing doodles, but without even realizing, by the end of the conversation, there was a formula for something and Kaname was basically like "Woah, where the hell did that come from?" and Tessa took one look at it and said they were going to use it, or something to that effect. I'm 99% certain that those plans were the Fairy's Eye. The 1% is because it was never actually confirmed. ^^

Okay, my last post was kind of all over the place. I'll try and be clearer this time.
We have of course witnessed that Kaname is a whispered who was more often than not unable to retain Black Technology knowledge. That is, the knowledge would come to her for a few minutes and then would be gone. (Not including her improved math and science grades as opposed to her always having had high math and science grades).
This is not, apparently, what happened/happens with Tessa. Tessa seems to be able to actually retain everything (like Leonard) so that she can use that knowledge as she pleases.

You know what? I think I just answered my own initial question in my first post: For some reason Tessa is able to retain Black Technology knowledge and Kaname is MOSTLY unable to. So I guess this would explain why Kaname believes she no longer needs a body guard (because she'd be useless to any organization that wanted to extract Black Technology from her), whereas it appears (from Admiral Borda's question in ASBM 2's epilogue) that Tessa still possesses and can thus still use the Black Technology knowledge she's acquired up to that point as she wishes (e.g. build a TDD-2 if she wanted).
Eh, sorry Miles Teg. Seems that you were right about the genius idea.

The fact that Tessa and Leonard are prodigies was stated in the novel, main story line novel 2 or 3 and in the short story "birth of the TDD" in Side Arms 2, probably also in the anime.

He just made a mistake with season 3 and 4.
If there was a season 4 in the works we would get a announcement before we get a trailer. And if there was a announcement, you would probably read it everywhere within a few days.
