I am guessing Nami to be wave or something like that. Each of their names seem to carry some sort of meaning for their personalities.....

Kazane = Her voice is is light but carries alot of weight.
Takane = Highly-skilled
Nami = Like a wave, she is sometimes high and sometimes low, can be destructive or calm, changes randomly.
Akiha = If I am not wrong, an autumn leaf symbolises good memories of the past in summer and spring.
Sakura = It is a common name and used to symbolise beauty I think.

Mitchan's eyes tell me she's the dynamic one and Satchan's feel more mature or quieter.

If I would pick Mitchan and Satchan, I will see whoever is a better cook and whoever has a better character base. If Ryou had went to even extreme ends (like Fllay in GS yonkoma, j/king) for Tomoya I would have liked her better than Kyou. Tsukasa is dense but I feel she has a better character base than Kagami, who is so whimsical and just barely tsuntsun. Haruka and Kanata have equally strong character bases so it is hard to pick, but I will take Kanata because she is a better cook. :heh:

I will wait until they elaborate on the characters first before taking my pick. It is just like picking a twin IRL for a girlfriend, it is not difficult to offend the other, but it is great as a kickstart for building harems.

maybe since leopard is a "brain" colony, so maybe there's biological component in him, and thus freezing him prevent him to do things.

also if he's frozen, he can't extend/move the equipment anyways, so he prolly can't connect to the controls(as seen i some episodes) if those are also frozen.

How can you deduce that Leopard is not an efficient machine, just from the fact that he gets frozen?
Yes, many materials attain superconductive properties close to absolute zero, but current research in the field of high-temperature superconductors is beginning to show results. It is feasible that in the future, Leopard may have room temperature superconductors for circuits. Quantum mechanics at room temp is already a nightmare, at T-->0K it gets worse.
What is more interesting is Sakura's explanation for the Overfreeze. (From my understanding,) This suggests that the victim is sort of removed from local space-time due to Hydrogen and Oxygen being pulled out of nowhere and forced to bond.

It isn't going to happen in my lifetime, but I certainly believe space colonization is the only future humanity has. Humans had never been very good at changing ourselves to suit the environment; we always change the world to suit us, even in the most primitive of tribes.

A Space Colony is the ultimate form of human habitation; a world that was built by humans, for humans. Where the land, the water, the air, and the weather are all artificially controlled. Compare to that, planet-based living just seemed to be more trouble that it's worth. I wonder if the Colony citizens treat Cyclones, Tornadoes and Tsunamis the way we treat the Plague? Like some ancient curse that humanity have grown out of?

Well, if you consider the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann to truly be the size it is portrayed as in the Anti-Spirals' realm (in other words, many times larger than galaxies), then yes, I would believe so. If not, then it still comes pretty damn close.

...Y'know, some ambitious person out there needs to make a comparison chart of ALL large mecha out there. It'd be big, but it'd also be amazing to see.

There's someone else who could be as big though, the Getter Emperor(s). It only appeared in manga for a few frames, but they are galaxy sized. They will grow as long as they have Getter Rays fed to them. TTGL will be as big as your can supply it with Spiral Energy.

Back on topic then, Leopard is about 15 km long and 3.5 km wide (presumably with solar panels folded). Which is quite considerable since that would put him on the scale of Darth Vader's Executor in Star Wars. That said, Executor was a combat ship, while Leopard is a cannon disguised as a colony(cross-reference Macross).

By the way, I'm really loving the design of the various QT-ARMS. The difference between Shishidou and ICP models is very obvious when you look at it. I'm judging from Ravana, Starsylph and Wygar vs Bouminda and Arc-II-J1. The Shishidou models have that ring or half ring around them (in cruise mode), and are generally more streamlined. ICP ones are more utilitarian, though Bouminda looks pretty nice. I find it interesting that Ravana is so heavy, while Wygar is so light (if you count Bouminda as one vehicle, Wygar is the lightest). Though we're still talking tonnes here.

There was actually a comparison chart in the Yoko Image thread, did a search and found the image expired. Basically its a white background, shows TTGL on the right, Lazengan Overload in the middle and 'Everything else' on the left lol

15km is decently large, not too big or small, an Island is bigger though. I loved Super Star Destroyers, they're quite beautiful and were the largest ships I known along with Zentrendi ships. Until again, Top wo Nerae! lol, the Elthrium was a 70km long ship and was a beauty as well, elegant and powerful.

On the subject of Brain Colonies, it seems that during the war in the past, the Shishidous with Leopard managed to destroy the runaway Brain Colonies. Because Leopard don't seem to recognise Nerval and Xanthippe by their colony appearance, only be voice. Nerval and Xanthippe were also proud of their new bodies.

On the other hand, I remember Wygar's from back in episode 3, at least, while I haven't noticed Starsylph's. I guess that means we're even in that regard. XD

Anyway, my thought is that it creates some sort of visual obstruction or something, making it harder to see things. (And though it may have been done in Stellvia, where piloting was ENTIRELY by console and no direct external views were provided [despite them having graphical simulations of what they would be seeing if there were windows], I'm sure many people would prefer to be able to see directly rather than have to pilot by instruments [though, admittedly, being able to do so is incredibly useful even in real life, and though I'm not sure on this, might be required if you want to get a pilot's license (somebody with more knowledge correct me on this if necessary, please)].)

While drawing my Xanthippe human impression pic, I've been scrutinising all parts of her, colony and 'brain/face'.

Her initial face was a plain face, then she switched to one with 2 red indents over her eyes, I don't get the expression though. I wonder what's the 3rd face like.

What the hell is this?... To be honest, although it was so silly that it was funny, for the most part, it was so stupid and chaotic and random, it wasn't even amusing... Though it would be interesting if some of the stuff in this episode was foreshadowing the future, kuhuhu (Ex: Student council on that Nerval or whatever's side, Sakura on Itsuki's superior's side, using the QT power gives those eyeshadows, QT's power's explanation)...

And the reason why its looking like that is because, I'm lazy to redraw the hand and fan when I found out that the fan will cover her boobs partially if the fan and the hand is realigned to look correct.

Sorry guys I was dead tired yesterday and dropped dead as soon as I reached home.

I went to the 2ch site and it seems that (from what little Japanese I know which I can interprete from) Sakurago has been turned into some new language with lots of inappropriates. Did Sakura invent them in the first place as taboos?

And lol at the baseball episode. It seems that Neneko is a hopeless batter in all cases, and Mr Black Belt is a HUMAN with a glowing red left eye.

a BOX is deliver to the Shishado residence. Nami decide to leave home(no idea why) and Akhia winds up on Earth.

The box is addressed to the Shishido residence, but Itsuki delivers it to the school. It has a message on the front that says, "I will trade information on 'Enigma' for asylum." A stubborn person is hiding in the box, and refuses to come out. The box winds up in the hallway, and gets accidentally picked up by the cleaning robots. Akiha-tachi desperately search for the box with the girl in it, and save her from being dumped down the recycling hole at the last second.

Nobody winds up on Earth. Yet, anyway.

Friends don't let friends use Google translation. (Or Babelfish for that matter.)

These new previews are a lot easier to translate now that I don't have to squint at a JPG.

-wow this is like the most random random random thing i seen since episode 25/26 of evangelion, cept better than eva's last 2 episode due to at least there's some real animation and baseball :) but so random it was kinda mind f**king :heh:
-nami is not sadistic in this one, and actually being very supportive to akiha
-akiha actually tried to choke(i think) nami, but she stopped cause nami is very nice to her
-leopard is some red light(wtf?)
-the ending is kinda abrupt

Kishi Otome is an excellent progressive rock piece, much like the "majestic black Alice" style of CGS2 ED2.

Episode 9Basically the episode tells of QT users, players with super human baseball techniques that are destroying the baseball leagues.

But for some reason QT users are disappearing one by one and the rest either stopped or went into hiding.

Then Shigure brought back Akiha, as the Masked Pitcher to trash all baseball leagues one by one. Shigure tells his plan to his father Nerval, telling him that its the end of normal baseball leagues and its the start of QT leagues.

But Tsutsuji convinces Kannagi to counter the Masked Pitcher. And was able to do so but both sides ended in injury.

We then learn that Akiha's 2 elder sisters were both QT users and died mysteriously, that's why she stopped. But she went back to baseball as the Masked Pitcher so she can make money to pay for Nami's medication.

Meanwhile Itsuki is told by Tsutsuji that she can become more powerful by visiting the baseball demon. So Kannagi sets off to find it, which she found out is a shrine called 礼央破流堂, reads 'Reiouparudo', basically Leopard.

Itsuki learns that she needs to train and master her swings before she can pick up the demon bat and gain true powers of a demon QT user. She masters and Leopard says he longed for the moment to take over a player who can wield his bat, but is stopped by Nerval and Tsutsuji who appears to be working together.

Itsuki then takes on Akiha, they clash with full power and Itsuki looks like she's out cold or dead. Then Nerval and Tsutsuji appears and reveals that he was the one who killed all the QT users so he can retain the baseball leagues, Shigure and Akiha were shocked. Shigure now knows who's the real demon of baseball.

Akiha realises her sisters were killed by Nerval and so she uses her QT powers to wipe them or everything out.

Quite a puzzling but entertaining episode, Sakura and Imo-chan were super cute. There was major baseball homages, Dokuro chan's Excaliborg, maybe FLCL or something. Not sure if it really foreshadows anything or the QT displayed in this episode provides us with any real QT info.

Well some pointed out this is an analogy of past events. Itsuki is somehow connected to Leopard's past. Either when Earth was destroyed or during the war.

One of the paintings with a green haired girl and Leopard at the hotspring episode could be depicting the previous Girl Who can Leap Through Space.

If we put this in BSG terms it has happened before and will happen again.

Earth wasn't destroyed, otherwise it couldn't have fired missiles when Leopard tried to colony drop. It is just in a post-apocalyptic state with junkers scavenging stuff and robot planetarians that activate once per year.

Well, the chief writer of SoraKake is Higuchi Tatsuhito, the guy who wrote the Mai-Otome manga. Yes, that's what he's credited as being, "Chief Writer." In the OP, right under Hanada Jukki being credited as "Series Composition." Except in episode 9, where both Higuchi and Hanada are credited for "Series Composition".

Mai-Hime is one brilliant anime, if you just forget about the last ep.

Episode 9Forgot to mention that the QT users were people who loved baseball and played it as a sport they loved with all their heart. But they were too powerful and Nerval wants them to be wiped out.

In the final round, Itsuki and Akiha were tricked into fighting each other. Itsuki was cheered on by the church ophanage she's working to support and Akiha was cheered by Nami who's she's returning as Masked Pitcher to pay for medical fees. They were cheered on to play baseball with their hearts.

Nerval took advantage of their love for baseball to destroy each other. In the end Akiha released all her QT to destroy Nerval, but seems like everything was destroyed as well.

Anyway MAKO made Akiha sound hotblooded, I'm hoping to hear that in the story itself. Hotblooded female mecha leads are my favourite types. Akiha's pink hair and mecha lead status reminded me of Noriko and Nono, that's why I picked her as my waifu very early in the show.

Did you just watch Nadesico recently? lol you keep bringing back Nadesico stuff which I need reminding to remember.

And yea, this was pretty good filler and has excellent quality in animation and voice acting. Besides that one reused animation used 4 times, everything else were great. Actually that reused animation itself was pretty nice, I loved Akiha's legs :p

And yea crack episodes like Gekiganger 3, Asahina Mikuru no Bouken and such remind me that crack episodes can be more than just crack.

There were people who didn't like the episode, but during their rewatch, they found out how amazing it was. But for me that episode hooked me 2 minutes into it until this day.

technically i, like always go on wikipedia first to figure out how many episodes a show has, so i found out the episodes weren't in chornological order, so i watched it in chronological order instead of actual airing order.

The show does something fun and unexpected and it gets derided like this? Where's the sense of wonderment at seeing the cast in a scenario that we've never seen them before? The enjoyment in seeing things through a different lens? I can understand how the sudden shift in setting may have caught people off guard, but the episode itself wasn't bad, and since the show has no source material to draw from anyway, can it really be considered a "filler"? I'm sure the makers of the show had reason for putting it in where they did and why they did.
