Start for Yukine episode, and I'm actually surprised how it went well with the adaptation for Yuu.
Hopefully, they will do quite a bang, considering the preview.

Bottom line: Pimp Tomoya :heh:

- hmm.. a decent episode to say the least.
- didn't understand a thing, with all those talks about Yukine's brother and the kids missing oneesan.
- Sunohara pretending to be Kazuto led them to trouble and Tomoyo saving thenight :heh:

anywho, the climax will probably next episode judging from the preview.

LOL at Tomoyo saving everyone's arses (especially Sunohara) at the end. Seeing those trademark flashes and hearing those machine-gun like kicking sounds in the tunnel, it's not hard to guess it can only be her who whopped those gangster's arses.

With Yukine as Queen and Tomoyo as her General, they will rule supreme in both the Student Council and the Underworld. :heh:

Anyway, it seems like all the supporting characters in the side-character arcs are slowly being given faces. First it was Shima-kun, now it's Yuu and Yukine's army of delinquents.

PS I'm pretty sure the bespectacled teacher that kicked Sunohara's butt is Kotomi's homeroom teacher, IIRC.

I continue to be amazed at KyoAni approach to the side character arcs. They knew how to inject life to what personally was my least favorite arc in the game to something actually enjoyable. Kudos. They know how to be original when the situation calls for it, it'd seem. :p (I'm starting to sound repetitive now, but maybe it's because I had really low expectations for these episodes)

Meh, wouldn't be the first time I heard that sentiment, probably won't be the last.

Haven't seen the episode but hopefully it will be better than the last mini-arc. Truthfully though I'm tempted to take a hiatus and wait until we get to the Nagisa/Tomoya stuff before resuming watching. Anyone have any idea how much longer the side character stuff is going to last? I ask because I feel these mini arcs are starting to give the whole season a bit of a stunted feel. Also I've heard from RC that my oh so favourite character essentially upstages the actual focus of the arc in Yukine with more of his same old antics so that's also not a good sign. Is he this constantly thrust in our faces in the actual game arcs or has he been moved up a little on the chain because of his popularity? Do people honestly still find this character funny or is he getting as worn out for others as he long since has been for me?

Lots of questions I suppose, but it's good for discussion right?

This will probably be the last 'mini-arc' before they hit the real After Story Part.
And well, Sunohara is pretty much everywhere in the game. You spend what, probably more time with him then a lot of the girls.I've always liked his character, sure his antics can get over the top, but I still like him. I dont think he ever upstaged the focus in the arc in the game, but he was definately there the whole time. If it pleases you any, Sunohara wont be there too much during the AS section xD

Anyway, Yukine's arc was one of the slower ones in the game and I'm looking to how Kyo-Ani spices up. And LOL for the pimp Tomoya.

The thing is, Sunohara is pretty much EVERYWHERE in the game, Kaioh, so it's unavoidable that he gets as much screentime as Tomoya (well, compared to some of the girls anyway). He's a loveable loser though, so his antics aren't really grating at all, so it's very likely due to your own proclivities ;). And would you prefer we have the absolute DOUCHEBAG we had in the game? Thanks, but I'd prefer to stick with the comedic punching bag we have right now.

As for Yukine, ha ha, "Yuki-nee" the Yakuza ane-ue is right... She might as well be a mob boss with the way she attracts delinquents.

I don't know, he's pretty close to absolute Douchebag from what I can tell. Personally I'd prefer we have him do something else for a change or have his character feel like it's evolving instead of fluctuating, but I guess he's just that one note a character besides some very brief moments of caring for his sister. Glad none of my friends are like him.....and don't call me Michiru. :p

Well, you can see some definite results of his past growth as a character during this episode, that's a given. Though that only applies for 20% of his screen-time during this episode so I don't think you'll be too convinced.

Well, KyoAni hasn't really been giving much focus on what Youhei does whenever he's not with Tomoya or at school. Ask your buddies Klash or Deathkillz about the details, but he's not really as shallow as some people might think -- it's just that his idiotic side comes out more often than not in Tomoya's company, and let's face it, Tomoya himself isn't helping.

I feel that all story completely be changed.

I think end of Act Yukine in next EP won't same as game.

Maybe because original story in game won't impact enough compare with other act

Nice episode.
I've laughed when I saw Tomoya surrouded by girls and when whe was appologising to Nagisa after that.
I don't know what to feel about SUnohara. In episode with Mei when he was fighting with Tomoya I've changed my mind and thought that he is a great person after all but after 7th episode I think that he is still a big idiot.

Pretty good ep, but I hate how they're back to making Sunohara look like a fool, with all the gang members bullying him and everything. Give the guy a break. :( Tomoya and Nagisa in the bar was funny, but I thought the issue with Yuu and his sister was resolved too easily and dropped suddenly. Tomoyo's appearance was also too convenient.

2008-11-14, 11:06
Well, first, this seemed really different than the game. I don't even seem to recall the idea of "Two gangs". I thought they were just random delinquents? O.O

Well, anyways, I like how kyoani is throwing stuff together and trying to make more comprehension of the arc. I'm just a bit worried that they may be making a crucial mistake with this arc which I'm not allowed to discuss due to spoilers.

8/10

Well, realistically you can't have a person have a 180° personality change in the span of a few days unless something far more traumatic had happened to Sunohara. The degree of personality change he showed early on the episode is about right anyway.

I don't have much to say about this episode. 8/10 from me as well.

Does anyone know the name of the song that started playing near the end of the episode. It starts at the exact moment Sunohara reacts to being misidentified (somewhere around 21 minutes into it).

I suppose this would be the only way to really do the Yukine route, though.

Ah! me too! I mean I thought it wasn't as good as the other eps (considering in every episode so far from Clannad Tv to now, I've LMAO'd at least one of the scenes in every episode) Luckily, the ending was pretty hilarious. I also enjoyed Pimp Tomoya.

Well... since the original storyline was a lot of retrospection, dialogue and reminiscing, they'd have to tweak it some to hold people's attentions.

Felt bland to me, and to think this is my favorite minor arc in the game. Hopefully it'll get better in episode 8.

6/10 . Nothing special this episode -.-

I was looking forward so much to Tomoya being surrounded by girls.. but then it only ended up as part of a short montage. still good for a quick laugh though.

Edit: Actually the humor in general has been pretty dry most the season so far. (Cept ep 1 and Mei's onii-chan bit) But I guess it wouldn't leave much time for the character development if they spent time on jokes.

I don't know what to feel about SUnohara. In episode with Mei when he was fighting with Tomoya I've changed my mind and thought that he is a great person after all but after 7th episode I think that he is still a big idiot.

I think they used the arc to show kinda the more serious side of Sunohara.. but in the end they still need someone to take the blunt of the jokes like he was in a lot of during original clannad. so they had him switch back to being an idiot as usual.. I mean, what's the point of having more depressing serious people when you already have whoever the star of the current arc is? (currently Yukine)

I gave it an 8/10. It was enjoyable, but it's nothing exceptional, an felt mostly like a buildup-episode. Of course, usually in such circumstances I'd probably rate it lower than that, but whatevah.
The minor character-arcs are quite honestly getting a bit old if you ask me, so I'm really looking forward to the point where the main story starts... Which I'm guessing will be episode 13, for no specific reason at all. (Ok, so I do have a reason, that being that I'm assuming that the After Story will take up half the series, but it's still a completely random assumption based on nothing in particular.)

Em... what was that ? This story is completely different to the original one. A small testing before Munto TV ? Ehm, fans waiting from Kyoto only original story. It's rather good, but not good as the original one. And they changed a lot of facts. I'll give it 7 out of 10 : Good.

Now this was a rather boring ep, some points that detoriated my rating

Not enough of the stylish music, they usually use much more of those flashy and good atmosphere maintaining stuff, but here they just cut it down to half approx.
The episode was too much of a build up, some more comedy would have helped here and there, Yukine was much more passive than her usual self, i mean she´s always a bit slower depicted but even with her unchanging facial expression she tends to outburst from time to time, making her moments in the show more enjoyable.
Oh yeah and too little ironic Tomoya pwning aswell.

Hope the arc´ll get better 5 to 6 out of 10 points for this ep

I've heard that Yukine's arc is a pretty decent one and I hope that it lives up to whatever people have said about it because when all's said and done, that episode didn't really pique my interest. There weren't any genuine dramatic moments or anything like that. Just backstory and exposition. Normally, I don't have an issue if the exposition is really good, but in this instance, it was just kind of... there. Nothing special or thought-provoking or would result in an outpouring of emotions. Things can only go up from here.

Episode 7

-I so want to know what they lights in the illusionary world really are.

-It is interesting to see that the illusionary world has seasons too. It’s also interesting to see how the illusionary girl is almost like a bear, the colder it gets the more she sleeps.

-yay!! :) Yukine’s resource room is not only café, it’s also a restaurant now!!

-Loved the scene when Sunohara was complimenting Yukine. :) Sunohara x Yukine ftw!!

-Nooooo http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi31.gif Yukine rejected Sunohara! :( No more Yukine x Sunohara!! http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi32.gif Well…at least yay! :hyper-^v^: for Sunohara confessing to Yukine. :)

-Loved how as soon as Sudou’s enemy got inside the resource room, Tomoya put himself in front of Nagisa to protect her. That was so sweet!!!!!http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi01.gif And Sunohara chickening out was hilarious!! :heh:

-Wow!! :o So Yukine’s brother is a gang leader.

-I love Nagisa’s gasps!! She is so cute when she does that!!http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi00.gif

-Yu is so adorable!!!

-Sunohara can be deep when he wants to. What he said to Yuu about the bond between siblings and family was so nice. :)

-Yuu being Sunohara’s follower was so adorably cute!!

-Poor Sunohara!! :heh: Even the teacher kicked him.

-Sunohara is such a chicken!! :D I guess only when Mei or someone he truly cares about is involved he becomes “Super Sunohara” a.k.a brave Sunohara.

-“I just wanted to practice my acting” right Sunohara, right. :heh:

-When Yukine was saying about the problems the guys in the gang have with their parents, you could easily see Tomoya reacting to those words. He is just like that after all.

-Tomoyo’s words about what is a family and about her own family really had a great effect on Tomoya, didn’t they? :)

-Tomoya sure is popular with the ladies, isn’t he?!!! ;) Tomoya ftw!!http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi01.gif

-Nagisa getting depressed and jealous was co cute!! http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi00.gif I would have loved to listen to Tomoya’s explanation and begging for forgiveness (he was on his knees after all). It must have been something great since it made Nagisa cheer up really fast. :)

- BTW, why did Yuu’s sister cover his eyes when Tomoya was giving his explanation to a depressed Nagisa?!! http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi34-1.gif

-As much as I love to see Nagisa being jealous, I really want to see Tomoya being the one being jealous for a change.

-Nagisa and Yukine karaoking were so adorably cute!!!http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi00.gif

-I can’t wait to meet Kazuto!! I hope we get to meet him in the next episode.

-Super Tomoyo to the rescue!!http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/tina_0205/monkey%20emoticon/khi1l.gif Tomoyo’s kicks were awesome in this ep.

-Sunohara, your pranks have gotten you in real trouble this time!!

I can't wait to watch episode 8!!!

Well, I didn't play the game, so I'm just someone who enjoyed Clannad all the while.

And for some reason, after watching this episode I immediately gave it a 10, not sure why, especially when I gave the Sunohara arc a 9 lol

It could either be that I secretly love Yukine so much that I do not know it myself or that there's some subliminal message coming from the episode that told me to give it a 10.

But I guess I like such peaceful episodes, my previous days were quite hectic and this one was quite relaxing somehow. Shows can easily be good or bad depending on your mood and the environment you were in.

Who? Nagisa? Never! Maybe it’s because I love Nagisa, but I don’t think she is a manipulator at all.:) I truly think she was sad after seeing lover boy Tomoya in action. During the past episodes, we have seen Nagisa getting jealous, every now and then, when Tomoya "seems" interested in other girls or is surrounded by other girls , which although it’s cute to watch, it makes me a bit sad because it shows Nagisa being somewhat insecure. I know Nagisa is not the most confident girl in Clannad, but I would really love for Nagisa to realize how cute she really is.

I find it cute and interesting how when Nagisa get jealous she gets sad whereas when Tomoya gets jealous he gets mad.

Heh, I dunno. I was just thinking back to that one time when Tomoya teases her for being slow-witted, she goes "shokku desu" and acts sad. It made Tomoya try to cheer her up, but then she smiles in an instant and just says "jo-dan desu" (it's a joke). To me, it just seems like the same thing happening here; it's manipulation, but it's just Nagisa's way of joking around. :heh:

Well we all know she is the daughter of the best theater actor and she's an actress herself. Anyway Tomoya being surrounded by girls is not surprising anymore (having 5 girls to fall in love with him minus Fuuko is no joke). But we all know he will pick Nagisa and I think in that situation, she's just joking. But with Nagisa's personality, hmmm maybe she's half serious.:heh:

2 : He has a tragic past involving people getting hurt because of his gang connections so to protect his family he stays hidden.

I say it's gotta be the second choice. If it is the first one it might kill off this arc :heh:

Heh, I dunno. I was just thinking back to that one time when Tomoya teases her for being slow-witted, she goes "shokku desu" and acts sad. It made Tomoya try to cheer her up, but then she smiles in an instant and just says "jo-dan desu" (it's a joke). To me, it just seems like the same thing happening here; it's manipulation, but it's just Nagisa's way of joking around. :heh:
Ah, now I understand what you meant by manipulation…well…then…I guess it’s half Nagisa wanting to hear Tomoya apologizing for it and half Nagisa joking around. But I still sustain that Nagisa was jealous and sad in that scene, even if it just was a little bit.

I would have thought she was joking if it wasn’t for the fact that there were instances of her being jealous before during the past episode of A.S.

No way!! The reference room girl has many gang connections. And the way she put it, it sounds as though they are kind, passionate people who are heroes and saviors of the world. On the other hand, they could be relatives of Kazuma Kiryu from "Ryu ga Gotoku" if they are truly all that kind and whatsoever. :D

Hm...I love this series but things are way to predictable now. When I knew what this series was about, immediately thought: When is Tomoyo going to appear? Bet she's going to fix everything. Thought I was wrong, but looky who appeared in the end. Wonder how she's going to fix them? Beat them all up after lecturing them, which make them all look up to her as the new boss or something?

They took so many liberties with this one that none of us who played the game even know what they're going to do, so we're pretty much just as in the dark as everyone else.:p

This episode was funny and good. I didn't really know the yukine had a brother. it was also random too but it was funny still.

Thats why its 9/10 for me. :3

@ destiny4everlove - the lights

Watch the first part of episode 10 of the previous season.

It might give you a hint or confuse you even more.

I enjoyed this episode, just letting the story unfold.

I could see the attack at the end coming a mile away though after Sonohara bignoted himself - it was one of those "cringe" moments - I mean I felt like yelling at the LCD "No you idiot - can't you see what will happen?" ;)

Tomoyo saving them at the end was a surprise, though not unexpected.

I guess they will wrap this one up in the next episode.

So for those who've played the game, as MeoTwister5 says, is this arc is really different? Without revealing or speculating on what happens next week, has the story in the game so far deviated that much from the anime?

Thanks

I'd expect the end result to be the same, however we have little idea as to how they'll get there :p

Yes. But the main idea with her brother and ending should be the same.

Understatement of the season. They changed a lot of details in Yukine's arc, and given the fact that Tomoya is currently attached, this applies to much of the romance as well.

I said as much because not only were a lot of things changed, the core premise involving Yukine's brother seems to have changed, and plot-wise I think this is the biggest factor. Obviously I can't say what it is, but based on how they refer to him in this episode, the change is big enough to affect how the end will play out. Not in such a drastic way but it will still affect it and make it more different than in the game.

Or, you know, it'd be easier to say that this is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the game.

Interest in series... dwindling... all hope... lost... continued third-person-narration... inevitable...

Yeah as you can see the more hard core gamers that loved KyoAni for their frame per frame quality adaptations feel betrayed and are committing seppukku. Other , more liberal, gamers like me are actually interested into how KyoAni will deliver. After all, if there was a route where they could get more original, it was this one. *clap clap*

That's what I was 'bout to say. Kyoani isn't always about being loyal to the plot, they do make changes.

Remember Haruhi? The school festival, Haruhi was supposed to be doing bluegrass and rap. We got rock in the anime. It fits better, actually. Kyoani does twist the plot, but that's what it needs to do. Else, it'll be another Toei.

I was mostly joking...

But KyoAni has not had the best track record in making up plot... the Lone Island episodes of Haruhi were probably the low point in the series, and I'm still not entirely pleased with Clannad's episode 18... I'm sure they could have dropped the Tomoyo OVA and given the series one more episode to wrap up the harem subplot, (much of which, I might add, was entirely their own creation, even if it was good) it would have felt much better.

...I really can't trust anything "anime-original", as it appears to be British for "Tidal Wave of Terrible", especially after JC Staff's butchering of the Shana novels.

Of course, they'll probably figure out a way to end this arc well and I'll be forced to eat my metaphorical socks, but I always get worried when studios try to do this.

That was a minor change to an already good story... as I said above, take Lone Island Part 2 for the opposite end... although, being KyoAni, it's still better than any other anime-original 'content' out there.

So WHAT?!?! The anime does NOT have to be a copy of the game.

Ok enough rant, now to the episode.

Yukine is so adorable <333 Shoots up like a rocket in my moe list. I would visit her every day. Specially in her kitchen dress.
