First Info.s from Game Informer magazine :

The biggest thing in the article IMO is that there's a new girl named Chloe Frazer. GI asked about Elena and Sully's return but they had no comment.
- The story is about looking for the ships that Marco Polo "lost" while returning home to Italy.
- Melee combat is more dynamic now.
- They mentioned they were using only 30% of the PS3's power with Drake's Fortune and are planning to use nearly 100% :eyespin: with Among Thieves.
- A demo was shown to GI with Drake going through a city (I believe in Nepal), and he's stealthily taking out guards and escaping the city.
- Nolan North returns to be Drake and Chloe Frazer is played by Claudia Black (Stargate SG-1, Fargate).
- The Sixaxis mechanics were ditched for such things as throwing grenades.
- One of the weapons revealed is a rocket launcher that Chloe uses (might only be for the cinematic).
- There are no load screens.
- The score is being composed by Greg Edmonson (same guy from the first one).
- Weapons can be used in any stance (running, behind cover, hanging, climbing a wall, etc.).
- You can now move while aiming behind cover.
- I'm not sure how to explain this one so this is what it says:
"In Uncharted 2, every character fully interacts with the dynamic geometry moving around them, and environments in the background are real parts of the game world"
"If Drake's on top of a train, he's going to be shaking with the train as it moves around"
"As he gets inside, his moveset is going to change, and he's going to be a lot more secure because the wind's not blowing."

- The graphics look better than Uncharted 1.
- Button sequence cinematics such as the final boss have changed so now Drake is now fully controllable in these parts...I think (This one's also hard to describe).
- Climbing seems improved upon. You can climb lamp posts now among other new things.
- If there is an enemy patrolling a rooftop you're climbing a wall to, you can pull him off the roof while hanging on the wall

I'm surprised to see someone else on this site knew Uncharted existed, let alone it's sequal.

The one thing that I don't like is the fact that Elena and Sully aren't in this, or at least seem like they aren't going to be in it. I dislike when developers remove previous characters - as in Kojima studios removing Meryl from MGS2, and not even telling us where she was - just like that, but pulling the rug from under our feet. I liked Sully's wise cracking remarks, and Elena was also a good character, so I'm a little bit surprised with this.

I always pictured Drake as an average guy, so judging from the scans, I'm some what disappointed to see they are trying to transform him into some tomb robbing ladies man. Perhaps Naughty Dog's silence on the question means that Elena and Sully play a big part in the story? Hopefully so.

PS. Glad to see those crummy SIXAXIS controls gone!

A little over two weeks away from the release.

Anyone else have it pre-ordered and wishing the date would hurry up already? :>

I pre-ordered mine just a few days ago, been waiting so long for this and its almost here. Everything from the first game looks to have been improved on. Sometimes I wonder if Naughty Dog will ever make a game I'll dislike.

Eurogamer's Final Verdict 10/10 (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/uncharted-2-among-thieves-review?page=1)

Not even MGS4 has that honour from them.

currently, it stands as the best game of this generation. only gamespot and edge have to weigh in from the "big" reviewers.

Good lord this game is getting amazing reviews all around. As if the suspense waiting for this game wasn't killing me already, now these reviews have given me even more of an itch to play this game as soon as possible.

Wonder if anyone had a go with the Japanese version?

There should be a Japanese dub in every game. Uncharted 1 had 5 languages on disc.

I should be picking mine up this Thursday, don't if its a worldwide thing as I haven't seen it, but over here we have a special edition with metal case.

Not on my copy. Seems that they ditch the multiple voice tracks in favour of the awesome life like graphics and multiplayer components.

That will be the European-only Limited Edition.

I don't really mind either. Somehow it doesn't sound right in Japanese. From what I heard (review, trailer, etc), the dub is good so it won't affect my experience with the game.

Most of the wisecracks will be lost in the Japanese Translation anyway.

Well, it's been a while since I heard good British Accent Voice Actings in games. That's saying something about the quality now.

Three days...

Very excited. I would have gotten a PS3 just for Uncharted and Uncharted 2 looks like an even bigger adventure.

Well a few characters seem to come back from the first but overall I think they'd explain the aftermath of the first game through the second.

Just out of awesomeness you should play the first game though.

On Chapter 6 ATM, this game definately lives up to it's hype. I don't think there's anything left to add onto those praises.

But if there's one complain, it's why don't more of those mercenaries issued helmets or riot shields to prevent them from being headshoted ? I've encoutered some of those in the game, but there arn't enough of them. It will be a blast to take on a group of those goons.

Mine is being delivered today. :> I love the various deals on Amazon coupled with these flurry of discounts you can get.

And on a side note, thanks to Uncharted 2, I got Dragon Age Collector's Edition for the PS3 for $63 shipped.

Agreed, just up to chapter 7 myself. 6 was my favourite actually. I think Sony gave Naughty Dog access to some hidden PS3 god mode menu or something, the graphics are just amazing :heh: This isn't even usually my genre, but I did enjoy the original, and 2 is better than it in just about every way, even down to the little details. The chapters feel longer too, and considering the trophy list has 'Get all 100 treasures' in it it does seem like the game will be longer...

Also, the English voice acting is perfectly fitting. I don't know why anyone thinks the Japanese will be magically better, the rule of thumb is that things are better in their original language.

To tell the truth, I don't think I heard anyone said that Japanese voice would be better in this game.
I agree that things are better in their original language, though.

I agree that things are better in their original language, though.I've never heard anyone say that either.......

And yes, things are almost always better in their original language. US dubbing for Japanese anime is almost always horrible lately, but originally-English productions like this always have good voice acting. It's odd that games like Final Fantasy: Dissidia have only mediocre VA-ing at best (although Keith David was awesome as Chaos), but games like this have great actors like Claudia Black doing them. How odd. An FF game should easily have the budget to hire better VAs....

Anyways, I just got this game myself the other day....OMG, what a blast. :) I admit, I fanboy-ed quite a bit when I heard Chloe's voice ("CLAUDIA BLACK FTW!!!" :heh:), and I guess I am a bit of a fanboy of the game itself too, because I tended to overreact every time in one of those climbing parts where a piece of the train in chapter 1 broke off and almost nailed Nate, or when the Hind came after him....but you gotta admit, it really was like every pipe, panel, bolt, and door in those levels was trying to kill him. :heh:

And god, I love all the little humorous quips Nate makes through the levels. One of my favorite parts of these games. :D

My only complaint was that I tended to get stuck a lot on things in this game, just like the first. A hard-to-see brick you need to climb to the next area or somesuch; they just kept popping up on me. >.>

Here's to hoping for Uncharted 3. :)

So far this has been one of, if not the greatest, single player experiences I've ever had with a video game. Everything just fits together so well in this game and is so well delivered that I truly feel its a near perfect game. I loved Uncharted 1, but this one just tops its successor in every way. Not much to say about it that hasn't alreayd been said, the plot and voice acting is great and the gameplay is just very layered and enjoyable.

The greatest thing Naughty Dog has done here isn't the graphics. It's how they manage to incoperate old generic formulas together and make them good once more.

You can see how everything here had been done to death before, be it the story or the gameplay. But somehow, they manage to polish those and make them shine like new once more.

And don't forget their sense of humour... I'm only up to chapter three at the moment but the scene where Flynn warns you:

'There's a guy above you, there's a guy above you'

So you pull him off the edge then:

'There's a guy below you, there's a guy below you.'

I could not stop laughing.

I finished it the day after I received it (because I had nothing better to do :x) and could genuinely say that this has been one of the greatest video game experiences I've had in a very long time.

The graphics looked amazing on my HDTV, the writing was excellent (Nate's quips were hilarious, especially the one about zombies (which was a poke at the player complaints of zombies in the first game)) and it never let up on the thrill ride that began from the get-go.

...Now I have a month left for my Dragon Age: CE to come :( Stupid PS3 hardware-related delays.

Just finished a couple of hours ago myself.

Better than the original in every way, definitely. It's the prettiest console game I've ever played, the gameplay is more varied, the environments are more varied, the dialogue was great, etc. I haven't even touched multiplayer yet, just done one single player playthrough on hard. Some of the levels were just awesome, and the game ended up with a very cinematic feel that I really liked, which made it much more exciting and engrossing than the original.

It's not perfect quite yet though. The most irritating thing was the stupid clipping glitches, I didn't encounter a single one in the original, but in 2 I got stuck in walls, logs etc about 5 times or so and was left with no choice but to restart from the last checkpoint. Which is very annoying.

It's definitely an amazing game though, and one I recommend wholeheartedly to anyone whose interest has been piqued.

Video Capture of one Japanese player's playthru till End Of Chapter 2 of the game. Should give people here some idea of how the Japanese Dub is.

PS :- Game's sale isn't too shabby in Japan either, selling 46000 copies on it's 1st day and clearing some 70% of it's initial stock. Vast improvement over the first where only 7200 copies were cleared on the 1st day.

Just finished the game today on Normal, around 11 hours with only 23 treasures, meh I suck.

But yeah I agree about all the praise. This game really deserves it. Story is your typical Indiana Jones action adventure but still its freaking epic and good. Characters are great with with all the dynamic interactions, humor and seriousness, Drake is awesome, sarcastic and funny, supporting characters also have their unique personalities (especially the love interests), not to mention the bad guys are also awesome in their own right and worth mentioning. Gameplay is kinda like assassin creed but combined with FPS. Graphics are also amazing with all the beautiful and ridiculously detailed environment if you play in full HD. The best thing imo is the music, absolutely stellar with all the orchestra.

About the ending though,

Damn Drake you dumbass, why did you choose Elena in the end? I was hoping he ended up with Chloe because they seem suited with each other. But oh well, can't have it all your way.

Overall a superb game. Really recommend it to any action game and adventure fan. :)

I've been reading reports about problems with Uncharted 2 shutting down/overheating the PS3. Although it seems to be localized with the older models. I've had it freeze a couple of times, but it hasn't shut down on me yet.

I've had it on basically all day today and yesterday though and haven't had any shutdown/overheat issues. Just one freeze earlier. 80gb Japanese Yakuza 3 PS3.

Thats what I was assuming as well, but I'm not the kind of person to play for long periods of time, so I don't think I have to worry about such a problem. I'm just obviously worried about my PS3 getting the YLOD.

Well I'll have to admit I don't actually own a copy of UC1 but I have played the game and is ace(I'll probably pick up a cheap copy later on at some point)

I've just recently got UC2 as a free copy with my new Slim.

I played something like 4-5 hours last night and got to the train part(I called it a night after a few attempts at getting past the chopper, I know better than to keep at it and getting :frustrated:) and gotta say this is simply an amazing game!
Absolutely stunning to look at and great fun to play.
The story is pretty interesting and the character interactions are great entertainment(I was very pleasantly surprised to hear Claudia Black voicing Chole, she's got a lovely voice that lass has:p)
Action is solid and flows very well, great set pieces thrown in for even better fun.
Altho the AI can be atad sloppy at times, it isn't bad enough to say it takes anything away from the game plus it's to be expected, AIs still have a long ways to go in any game.

I really can't give this game enough praise, it's simply brilliant!

haven't tried MP yet but I'll do that after I play through once.

I would like it 10x better without the shooting. The environments, the cinematics, the characters--all great. Even the puzzles and the jumping around is a bit fun. Every time I saw obvious signs of places to take cover I'd inwardly sigh. Uncharted would have done great as an adventure game; it could even keep the prince of persia style acrobatics. But please, no more stealth sections.
