View Full Version : Licensed E's Otherwise
Since their is no E's Otherwise thread I made a new one.
Anime-Blitz finally release the long awaited episode 25. Alot of stuff happens Kai and Shen-Long head back to Gaudo (SP) to save his sister and Shen-Long to return his sisters memory back to the way before. Theirs a part when Eiji says Kai Kudo is Kei Kudos son. I wonder if Kei Kudo is still alive somewhere. Eiji displays a fraction of the power from the Sacrament of Carvaria, only one episode left, I cant wait until Kai turns SS an kills Maxim.
SS.....hmmm wonder what that could mean...........
Eh....the spoiler box is useless, it displays the message when you put the mouse pointer over the thread. Did I do something wrong here.
SS=Super Saiyan
nah you didnt do anything wrong, thats just how it is.
and on the SS you know i was being sarcastic right?
Im waitning for the mpeg or the avi version of 25,while im sure the ogm is better quality,my media players always have an error when iu play them.
I am waiting for an avi version too... ogm just doens't work on my comp. =(
I can't wait to see the episode.

Oh ok for a minute there I thought I did something bad
Yea i kno you were being sarcastic but hey what if you wasn't. :) I happen to like the OGM wraper/codec quality. Try downloading the latest OGM version that might fix the problem, I used to have alot of errors when palying OGM and OGG files but after I downloaded the newest OGM files I never had a problem again.
Just finished watching E's 25. I don't have anything positive or negative to say about it, I just want it all to be over quickly. Thanks to Anime-Blitz for putting it out.

I for one am waiting on the Anime-Cookies version of 25. I think theirs is much better. But either way I'm dying to see this episode. They need to answer a ton of freaking questions.

I think this episode was okay, and I'm glad to see that this anime is finally coming to a conclusion. Although I've liked this series, I think it could have used less filler episodes - the actual story is far more interesting. Thanks to anime-blitz for the fansubs.

What? But they do not have Great Fansubber SirC working for them! :P
Err, anyone having problems with .ogm should check our site. We have a guide dedicated to getting .ogm up and running and it mostly works. If you still need aditional help, you can check our forums. I'd advise not watching our KVCD version unless you want to watch it on a DVD player. Quality is MUCH worse.
And I enjoyed 25 as well. It had one of the more amusing moment in the series. Heres teh story!!!1
It's about 11am and I've just got 25's script in and I'm doing a first edit on the script before I start timing or doing heavier editing. Leo comes into Yuuki's house, shot. The characters converge around Leo, when suddenly OMG, Kyo comes to get his ass kicked again, BUT HE HAS MECHA UPGRADES AND AN EXPLODING EYE!!!!!!11
So funny. It sure as hell suprised me. I don't know what the creators were thinking:
"Hey, Kyo gets his ass kicked a lot"
"yeah..."
"I know, lets give him mecha upgrades and an exploding eye!"
"And have Yuuki kick his ass again!"
"Omg, planxz!!!"
Oh and #Anime-Blitz might release a version 2 of E's. I thought there wassen't going to be hard subbed kareoke on the final product, so I soft subbed my improved lyrics that I've had ready for a while. Also I noticed some bad English and our other editors noticed some spelling errors.
I'm skeptical about whats going to happen in 26 (no I haven't watched it yet, wont bother till I get a script to work on it from). Seems like it's either going to be a VERY rushed ending or a very very fast paced episode. 26 might be a while like 25. Unless anyone wants to help us get something we lack, a translator heh.

Yeah i thought the same thing, and when Yuuki kicked his arse with a rocket, and he still was there i was like OFMG DIE ALREADY :frustrated: Kai has kicked his arse 2 times and he stills lives, and yuuki bombed him and he still alive, what is wrong with this guy.....
BTW who is Kei Kudo, i feel like it was told in the series, but not sure, he suppose to be powerful.
I gave up on E's after episode 20. The manga is fantastic but the anime is horrible. :heh: They mangled the timeline, for one thing, and animated events out of sequence. Not to mention the abnormal amount of filler episodes... :heh:

i like this series but i dont know why but i feel that the ending is a bit rushed they didnt concentrate more on the plot in the entire series and sudenly since kai had those weird surging of power the series seemed to speed up real fast

I just finished watching ep 25, myself, and I have to say I have no idea how they plan to wrap this up in one last episode. The preview seems to suggest they're bringing back a host of characters who've been scattered along the wayside throughout the series... but then again the E's Otherwise preview usually has little to do with the actual episode at all?!
Also... I'm confused... Is Hikaru Kai's real sister, or is that a memory Ashurum implanted in his brain? And what was the snake-eye thing Eiji was doing when he blew away the pope-wannabe?
I have to say the .ogm format is growing on me... had tons of trouble with it at first, despite using MP Classic. It seems on the last ep, English subs were set as the default instead of no subs - is that on the fansub end or is it a setting my player stores? In any case, I was happy not to have to fiddle with it.
Now that I've also figured out how to make those subtitles not look like font from a large print book, I'm thrilled :)
Just seen ep26, im very disappointed on how they ended the series, even though I kinda seen this coming after ep 25. Their's still too many unanswered questions left. I like the impressive light show though when Kai and Maxim fought and with Eiji, it was kinda cool. The ending really stunk, so what happened, did Kai and Eiji die or not, don't leave me hanging sheesh.... I hate this ending I really do. Too bad this series had promise in the begining it all turned into crap pass ep10 or so.
I'm downloading 26 right now. I know from 25 that 26 probably won't be good, so I'm not exactly going to be crying no matter how it turns out. E's was a fairly intriguing title to begin with, but it really lost quality really quickly. The long delays between releases didn't help either. I understand this is no fault of the fansubbers, but if you have to wait weeks between each episode of an anime that isn't particularly good, it's hard to stay enthusiastic, you know?

The concept of E's Otherwise, aka the Espers, really needs to be explored more, but rather ina different series. One that's better written and executed. But overall, the general premise is a solid one and I think animation studios should continue to pursue it. Not E's, but the Espers thing. Don't want to get those mixed up. Let E's die, but keep the esper thing going. :)
Does anyone even know if the KVCD version of 25 and 26 will even be released?
I've tried downloading OGM, but apparently my computer really hates it...
The ending felt REALLY rushed to me. Like they just decided to throw an ending in there.
And what was the deal with that blood vial?
There were a few good moments in the anime, but for the most part, a below par anime. Not something I'll watch twice.

26 wont get a KVCD release till we've released our .ogm version... which should be out within the next week or two, hopefully.
25 will get a V2 KVCD release whenever we can be bothered :P

Anyway, this has got to be the most rushed ending of the year. Geez.

I'm starting to think that the reason they rushed the ending was they realized that nobody really cared for it much anymore by that point so no need in putting a lot of effort into the ending like they did with other anime at the time. Total bummer too since it was so promising.
In retrospect though, I'm beginning to think they were planning for a season 2, but decided to scrap that idea and just shut down the series at 1 season.
Thats too bad i actually like the idea of Espers, maybe they should give the rights over to another studio like Bones and start over again.

Damn cliffhanging last episode. Well im going to be optimistic and just say Kai returned home after a couple days lol. But yea this anime did start out really good and kinda started to slip up in the end, but i still enjoyed watching it.
and the music was great!

I think it's just crappy series planning on the producers parts... After all, we're talking about Studio Pierrot here, the one who makes the horrendously paced Naruto.

hmm... I wish I had some of those esper abilities. =D
N E WayZ, I had the 'luxury' of not knowing about the series beforehand, and so I got to watch the entire series in 1 night.
(Yes, I'm crazy...)
During the first 10 episodes, I was thinking 'this series seems to be pretty promising, with decent plot and several mysterious items that await to be discovered.
But around ep.16 or so, I really got disappointed. The series started to randomly add elements into the storyline without explanation, and also 'solve' things in a very rash manner.
The ending, how should I put it? was simply HORRIBLE!!
Everything was over, yet very few (if any) of the questions were answered. Sort of depressing to see a series go downhill like that.
Now, I'm pretty sure I missed something... but:
#1. So what WAS Kai's true memories, and why did he go berserk when he saw the vial of blood?
#2. Hikaru, what was her special ability? Was it similar to Asuka's ability?
#3. Who ended up dying?
#4. Who's that Sherry girl? and what was her 'real' identity?
etc. etc.
Oh well... too many unanswered questions... =D
Well... I suppose E's Otherwise provided a good 'break' for me, now back onto the 'main' series. =D
Should I delete the series then? Or is it good enough that I should keep it?
Sigh I can't decide. The begining of the series seem so good you know, I thought it would be a bit like X with similar art and all but I guess it just ended really differently.

The beginning was pretty good (though the manga was much better)... Then it gets repetitive as hell after the initial arc, but it gets interesting again after that...
The problem is that, like empty said, the ending resolves NOTHING, explains NOTHING, and we know NOTHING about what happens to the most important characters after that...
Plus what the heck's the point of Asuka in this show? She's supposed to be the female lead and the only important thing she did was saying 'Daijoubu desu"... Utterly pointless.
Just finished watching ep 26, that is one really stupid way to end a series. I feel stupid just for having followed E's this long, I mean I've been so loyal, is a sensible and conclusive ending too much to ask for? All this fuss about Hikaru and Asuka's powers and in the end they come to absolutely nothing, that's just not good enough. Hmph!
Disgusted is the only word i have for this show. It started out with so much promise and even made me laugh sometimes. It could have been something pretty good but man what a major let down. It's like the writers of the show just simply gave up 2\3rds of the way and just wrote crap as filler. What a major waste of space and cdr's. I have been faithful to this show since its beginning and for it end like that is just a slap in the face of its viewers. I now know what to watch out for when i choose a show. If groups drop a series it probally for a good reason. Like they knew this show was going to shit in a hand basket. Grr

Agreed, the ending was very rushed and a little dissapointing. I would rather have them rush through the other scenes and spend more time on the ending. Anyone else notice that kai went from having a black jacket in episode 25 to a white jacket in episode 26? I was really hoping this would continue, cause it was one of my favorite anime being released.

Maybe there will be an E's Otherwise 2
Because:
what happened to Eiji? They said he's missing so as Kai. So it seems that they are not dead(Well of course Kai won't but Eiji)
What happened to Maxim? He don't look dead when you look at his face when Maria is holding him.
Cherry, ok, it was a fake hair...so? what's the deal of showing us that part?
So maybe they are making E's Otherwise 2 to answer those questions...Hope so...
I ahree with mos tof you, this was a very terrible way to end this series. I started to watch it when it first came out,I quit around episode 9 though, few moths later I stareted it back up,because a friend said it was starting to get good.BUt now im totally unsatisfied by this ending, making the whole series below my top 20 choices of best animes. Was once up in the top 10

That was soooo dissapointing! The thing I liked the most was the music.
Did anyone think Sherry looks a bit like Asuka?
Akkarael
2003-11-27, 03:37
Sherry was a guy, right? Or at least that's what I gathered from all of Kyo's snide remarks. I don't get what the wig bit at the end was supposed to symbolize though... was he tossing away his female persona? Why?
As for the rest of this unsatisfying episode....
What happened to Shen-long and Shin-lu? Did they blow each other up, or did Shen-long teleport them back to the pink-haired doctor with the memory disk? What's the vial of blood for? Who is Kei Kudo, anyway? In what way is Maxim linked to Kai? What's up with Hikaru's powers? What was Eiji's plan, in the end? At first I thought he wanted to kill all the humans, but then he wanted to turn them into espers using the Sacrament of Calvario? What is Kai's past, anyway? And what is Asuka's purpose in this entire show?? Or Maria's for that matter? Except maybe to provide a selection of female characters who never end up paired off with anyone ;)
I think I had hope for this series at one point, but then the whole plot took a turn towards the nonsensical and the whole human-esper debate sounded like it could have come from one of the X-men movies.
Ah well - it could have been worse! Parts of the ride were fun, and at least it's another series I can cross off the list.

Heh, no news on our version yet. Encoding started yesterday (can encode weeeeks before the script with soft-subs :P), but we're still waiting on a script. When it comes it we'll get it out asap.
And reading what happens at the end makes me even more disapointed. I really like the characters in E's (I hope I gave them a few good lines here and there heh), it's a shame to see them just droped. E's could have been SOOO much better than it was. It really is a damn shame it isnt as good.
Wow. I can't believe they screwed this show up so bad.
FWIW, I think they tried to give some sort of conclusion to the characters with the still frames during the ending credits.
21:21 Shin-lu & Shin-long
21:31 Esper kids & Maria(?)
21:46 Hikaru

I think the only thing I understood was Eiji's plan:
Having the entire human population advance to the next step and get rid of all humans who don't become an esper. Or in other words, make a world with only espers.
Why? Because he thinks this is the only way they can live in peace
That's what I think at least (I could be wrong,I could be wrong)
I gave up on trying to understand this stupid series, onto another series that derserves more attention.

I guess another series pulls a "Spiral" and ends with more questions than answers. This is getting way too typical anymore. So... has anyone read the manga? If so, does it answer any of the questions the show glossed over, or is it still unfinished?
Seems like many animes that outpace their manga origins wind up with a muddled ending like this. I think that's even worse than when the show moves at a glaical pace to stay in sync (a.k.a the "drag-on ball syndrome") . It would probably be better to just hold off on the anime entirely until the manga storyline fully written.
I don't really know what to say regarding this series...
Yes, the ending was rushed but I don't think the producers are stupid enough to just leave it like that... I mean, the rest of the series was good right?
I strongly feel that there will be a 2nd series or an OVA to finish and wrap this up.
I had to go back to Japan in the July of 2003 [which is this year at the moment] and that's when it was running. So that means that it's only been 4-5 months since it ended. So yeah, the ending sucked but maybe there's more? ;)

Actually, I do admit that even though they left a lot of questions answered, a couple of big ones have been answered.
1. The Sacrement of Caldera both identified and destroyed. Although they still didn't answer the question about the blood or Kai's past.
2. Eiji, Kai, Maxim, the old man and his adopted grand daughter got anihilated in the blast that destroyed the sacrement and the church that sat above it.
3. The Espers were under some kind of mind control that appears to have been released upon Eiji's death. (take note of the chick who removes her wig and shin-lu)
4. If you noticed, upon Eiji's death, the entire Asurum Esper project got shut down as well as all projects in Gald. (plays into #3)
Well, aside from those, the more I think about it, yes, they definately did leave too many questions unanswered. This of course wouldn't have been an issue had they not decided to use so much filler. Looking back, it was kind of a bad choice in my book.
chamelean75
2004-02-07, 19:22
um i don't think that the sacrament got destroyed. If it got destroyed, espers wouldn't be espers cause the sacrament gave them their powers. Also those that you mentioned who died are still in question? I mean you don't really know if they died or not. Does anyone know the relationship between max and kai? Also, how is the manga doing? is it still going? have any questions been answered?
Does anyone know the relationship between max and kai?
Max was created genetically from Kai's DNA (Blood) I think. Since they left the ending so open with many questions left unanswered I think they are planning on a S2 or something. I get the feeling it's not over yet.
I just finished watching E's Otherwise and there were some possible plot holes that I found, but want to make sure that these holes were filled or not.
1. who was kai's father? They made a reference saying that he was some kind of strong esper but did not go any further.
2. When Eiji said that he was going to," clip your wings." what exactly did he mean by that? Is it something like Kai's power all comes from his sister of something? But then how would that explain that last surge of energy at the end of the series after Eiji had supposidly," clipped his wings."
3. Eiji holds up a vial of blood near the end and Kai reacts as if he had seen it before. Just what is it?
These are the main questions that I had. I had a few more, but they were explained however vague an explaination it may be. Either way I thought that the series was really good up until this point and would simply like some explanations, because that last episode, in my opinion, was really bad.

Actually all your questions have been asked before but no one really knows the answer to them. I dunno if the manga would be anymore help or not. You'll just have to wait and see if they come out with a season 2.
lol, looks like I wasn't alone on this. But yeah has the manga been licensed yet? If not where can I find it on the internet?
The manga isn't licensed and it's being scanslated by Cabbit. If I knew their url I'd tell you, but they haven't gotten very far with it. The manga is darker, bloodier and more horrific than the anime and all the better because of it.
SirCanealot
2004-04-29, 05:49
Yeah, basically no one can answer that stuff. There's simply NO content in the anime to answer it. It's not even like Eva, where you can pull together a BS Answer from random lines of dialog :P
Hmm, I've wanted to scanlate the manga for a while, but I've had no luck getting access to raws... maybe I'll try talking to Cabbit...

I've got all but eps. 24-25 of E's Otherwise, but I've yet to see past ep. 5 since I'm too busy with other crap. It makes me sad, though, that so many of you were disappointed with it, because this seems like a series I'd really like. Now I'm almost afraid to watch it because everyone's talking crap about it. Knowing me, though, I'd probably end up loving E's Otherwise regardless of the crappy ending/too many fillers because I'm either that easy to please when it comes to anime or I'll pity it so much that I have to like it.

yah... I didn't like the cross-dressing... the main character lacked personality... and I kept confusing the angry kid with the blonde hair as a girl... the best moment of E's Otherwise for me was when it ended... ;) though, the opening track for that show was very catchy...
Anyone have any info on this series? I just watched the end and I was wondering if there is anything that continues past the end
Why did Maria's Grandfather turn young?
Why did Eiji and Kai's power turn into a giant pit?
Did they ever make it out?
What was Asuka's power?
What's this secret about wings?
Boy it sucks when you do a search on -E's Otherwise- -E's- and -Otherwise- and the dang search filter doesnt cough up anything.
And reading the old I guess my questions won't get answered, they are the exact same ones the others asked.
Noooo.... I curse you for bringing this thread back to life. :p
Heh yeah E's Otherwise was a huge let down for me and others. Instead of answering the many questions it opened the door to a gazillion more question when the series was finally done and over. So sad it was a fanstastic series until like midway then it all went downhill from there. I had such high hopes for this series. :(
I just watched it..I almost cried :uhoh:

1. What happened to shen-long and shin-lu: They are still alive, you can see them doing the camp thingy. Shen long was staring at the fire and shin-lu was sleeping in her sleepbag
2. What happened to kai in the end? he's in heaven and he's the one who send the snow. you suppose to understand it, not because of the story.
3. What happened to eiji: I'm not sure, but I believe that he's still alive and doesn't want to do it again and started his new life OR his memories has lost
4. what's a vial of blood which made kai surprised? It's a blood of his father the one who kai accidently killed him when he discovered that he has a psychic.
5. Who's Sherry: she's not a female or shall i call him "he"? he's a male who likes to dress up as a female.
any questions?
I have watched those series very careful and almost memorize every words.
Or a better answer. since it ends at 20 episodes they decided to not answer the question.
