whoah, something we didn't get in the manga we finally see Marie in action

pretty good episode overall, but i don't like the cliffhanger it ended on.

Well it looks like all of the big stuff is happening next episode. I liked seeing Marie fight, and the glimpse we got of Justin vs Giriko was pretty satisfying as well.

From the preview, it's looking like we're going to have a "Maka kills Medusa after she kills Chrona" situation, but I'm hoping that there will be more to it than that.

how unexpected, never thought Mary would transform, i was so excited to finally see her in action. Medusa using a sword was also a little strange, need the subs to see what did Stein told Mary that shocked her and what i really wanna know is why couldn't Chrona attack Medusa with the black needle! >.< and the preview really looked awesome! i just can't miss the next ep! Stein fighting again, its been a while and at least they may win againts him since he doesn't have a weapon, i mean, just knock him out and deal with Medusa, shouldn't her magic be like weak? looks pretty good to me -_-'' enough to bounce Mary to the wall and thin Ragnarok is really weak and makes Chrona even weaker, not good againts Medusa and im right from the looks of the preview

Basically, since Medusa made the Black Blood she knows how it works, which means she knows how to fight it. She zapped Crona with just the right soul wavelength to made the blood not work (so Crona can't control her blood for Bloody Needle or solidify it for defense, making her vulnerable to cutting). I guess Medusa was prepared for a rebellion.

I'm pretty sure Medusa mentioned that if they kill her, they'll kill Rachel as well. Who knows maybe there will be a way to kill Medusa and not affect the girl? We'll just have to wait and see.

That point aside, judging by the preview with Chrona bleeding to death and Maka looking pissed beyond belief, i'm getting a really bad feeling that Chrona won't make it out alive once the battle is over.

I really liked this episode. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Seeing mary and medusa fight was awesome. Medusa's one of my favorite villians in anime.

I'm guessing the only way to kill Medusa without harming the girl is a direct soul attack, like how Black Star dealt with Masamune, which means either Maka will learn how or Stein will be the one to finish Medusa off.

The reason Black Star managed it is because Tsubaki knew how her brother's possession technique worked. Maka doesn't appear to know, or to have shown much interest in learning soul wavelength attacks, making me think that it is the master of it, Stein, who could finish Medusa off in that fashion. If that even comes to mind to any of them.

I can see this going either way. If Chrona dies, Maka gets the super rage power up, beats medusa. Or somehow, Chrona comes close to death but uses what's left of her strength to do some magic shit and fuck everybody's shit up like I had wanted to happen (and then possibly dies, acending into heaven free of all sin)

if chrona dies, i think i might just... i dunno. make depressing fanarts or something. i will be very depressed.

loli Medusa at it again:). Great seeing Marie in action. The whole storyline going on with Crona/Medusa/Marie/Stein kept my interest level high. Overall 9/10.

Nice epi. Seeing Maria's hammer was awesome. Im totally digging this storyline. Medusa still proves she's the master of manipulation.

Too much talking between Medusa, Crona and Marie. While it was interesting to get things straight between mother and child, it was obvious why Marie was there. Unlike the Medusa and Stein fight, the dialogue lacked any kind of tension for me; needless baiting without either party striking anything significant. Though, I was pleased that Marie being a Death Scythe did give Medusa pause for thought - short though it was.

Unimpressed with Maka's rationale. Rather than thinking things through and understanding why using Soul Resonance could help, she goes ahead on the basis that she's sure it will work.

I was unsurprised that she managed to block Medusa's blade; the writers wouldn't have had her going out to fight the bad witch and then be unable to. However weak Medusa currently is, the block at the end does appear to put Maka and Soul on a par with Stein and Spirit in a very short time. If they'd explained it, had Maka understand whatever it was allowed her to raise her game to that extent, I'd have bought it. But as it is, it just looks like a massive change very quickly, for the sake of what is turning into the hero of the piece.

Anime-Black Star continues to irritate me. He's concerned only with the end rather than the means of getting there, and is confident though his own arrogant sense of self-worth rather than actual tactics or established skill. I'm expecting this to either continue until the end, and simply be his way of success, or for him to come to some alternative realisation when (possibly?) he encounters Mifune in the next few episodes.

For the first- it's sort of boring to watch a person sit around and think. I think we've seen Maka do quite enough of that already :heh: They have shown Maka to have a somewhat impulsive personality with ungounded optimism. Since they're finally showing her doing something, it wouldn't work to have her go, "Hmm.. now what?" too much.

But in your post you are touching on what I personally think if one of BONES' largest flaws as a studio: they play it cheap with character development and exposition. They luuuve the drama but hate to be responsible with it.

But get this out of the way: Maka blocking Medusa... er.. why should being able to do that then rank Maka with Stein? Medusa's strike was a death blow, but against a terribly vunerable Crona. Medusa hasn't been a tough opponent because of her physical strength. Her fighting strength lies in other areas, so I find it hard to accept that Maka shouldn't be able to give a surprise block to a blow dished out by a girl even smaller than she is. :twitch:

The test of how powerful Maka has become will be the next ep; based on how they play it, there might be good reason to complain but Maka didn't do anything here that shows anything other than basic fight ability :D

I don't disagree with your comments about B*S, this goes to above. BONES has been pretty crappy (just IMO!!) in developing the characters, or heck, even showing the development apparent in the manga back when they were still animating it. (example Soul- in the manga he's a very nuanced character, in the anime, he's a Maka accessory :uhoh:

When BONES got into their own material, they jumped all the way back to the beginning, repeating earlier incidents (ie, Kid needing to be saved cuz of symmetry, Maka's thoughts paralyzing her and needing a kick from Soul).

It's sort of as if there are too many BONES fingers in the pie and they all only ever look at the initial character profiles to determine where to take the story next. There's not a strong single viewpoint watching over the characters as they progress. I think Crona's gotten the most development only because the storyline required a shift from Medusa-loyalty to Maka-loyalty (which is even debatable as far as development goes).

Anyway, I don't mean to rant on the SE anime, cuz BONES was the same way with FMA. It just makes me sad cuz I want to love BONES and they pick awesome manga series that have depth; then they take cheap shortcuts that are insulting to the audience. Like the whole "Maka simply running off to wherever Crona is" thing, as if we're not gonna notice that's just silly. (to BONES: Don't use a gag to advance teh storyline, kthx guyz!!)

Maka is being so reckless and emo in anime , this is that I don't like. I don't acknowledge such a Maka from manga (okay she's more reckless than Soul but she's an intelligent student! Hey she's one of the most talented student in Shibusen!) and her friendship with Crona is like addiction or what. Makes me think MakaxChrona will happen -_-"

Soul too , is being too calm . He's acting like he doesn't care with Maka , which makes me irritated.

Black Star is just good IMO. Considered the anime will close the curtain earlier here , we can't expect the develoment such as in the manga.

I think BONES are afraid to make such a development of a character , maybe they think it can go out of character (like Maka maybe?) so they developed something that we always see and can be predicted (and it's typical-shounen-anime style)

Nice work up to Maka going berserk because that shot of Chorna bleeding out is not good. I always thought Medusa underestimated Maka theres a chance she may pay for it with her life.

Medusa knows how to push buttons she was taunting Marie about being desperate and basically saying shes a forgotten women whose trying to hold on to her man then sat in Steins lap WHOA:heh:. Stein has lost it he believes the visions he saw of Marie dying so seeing her alive alters his world therefore she must die again. So many things going on at once im loving it.

stein or chrona should kill medusa. I think maka served her purpose already in saving chrona.
